Dr. Mike Lauzardo Photo Feature

I had the pleasure of shadowing pulmonologist and deputy director of the Emerging Pathogens Institute Dr. Mike Lauzardo who is also the director of the UF Health Screen, Test & Protect initiative which educates and oversees Covid-19 vaccinations to students, faculty and staff at the University of Florida and in the Gainesville community. 

Over the course of a few weeks, I was able to shadow Dr. Lauzardo who has held more than 70 town hall meetings for UF faculty and staff, went on a press tour conducting interviews to educate and update people on the Covid-19 pandemic and encourage vaccinations and has helped Alachua County vaccinate more than 11,000 individuals. 

In an audacious push to vaccinate 20,000 people a week for six weeks in Alachua County, more than 5,200 University of Florida students and Alachua County residents received a dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium within the first week.

More than 80,000 people in Alachua County have received at least one vaccine shot as of the beginning of April, according to health department officials, but this initiative aims to spread the protection provided by the vaccines to a broader segment of the population in Alachua County.

“Even though we all don’t necessarily have the same risk of the same consequences, the way out of this is through immunity, and the safest and best way to get immunity is to get a vaccine.” said Lauzardo. Immunized college students can be “dead ends” for the virus’ spread, enabling them to play a key role in protecting their communities and helping everyone return to pre-pandemic life.”

what degree are you planing to get??

pharmacy! i want to get a bachelor's initially (and there's a couple different ways i can do that, i can go to the community college and get my A.A. degree and then transfer to a 4yr university, which would probably be UCF or UF but i really want to go to FA&MU, or i could just go to a 4yr from the start. obviously the first option is cheaper but i've heard transferring can sometimes add an extra year to your total time in school because of missing credits and i don't want that to happen) and then shoot for a PharmD degree to be a licensed pharmacist :)

#fa&mu has a really good pharmacy program one of the best in the state and it's way cheaper than UF or UCF #but UF is closer to home (which is also something i need to factor into this because i cannot pay for on campus living or even offcampus #by myself like i have ~7k in a savings account but that's going towards books and fees and even a little towards tuition so) #UCF is closer than either of the other two but it's so fucking expensive 😭 and they don't have a Pharmacy degree so I'd have to do the #pre health science track and hope i meet all the undergrad prerequisite courses to apply to a college of pharmacy . #BUT the community college is way closer than any of those. and it's cheaper. I don't know uf this counts as ghosting but here goes. 😶‍🌫️

I had a friend group of real smart wise and creative folks, very professional and know everything about the world. We were friends for a few years until I hauled ass to therapy for my ADHD, and realized that I was not being treated as an equal in this group. I'm the only one disabled both ways and it takes me longer to create so my output is nowhere near as high as them, maybe that was a reason. I didn't ask.

What happened is the 2 leaders of this group had insisted that I join, that we'd have so much fun together. Then I ended up being the only one who was talking to them, they never started a conversation on their own since January 2023! My fanarts would go unnoticed, they'd ignore if I sent them news about shit like KOSA, they had their private jokes even. When we were chatting together they'd often ignore or shrug to my comments which felt weird too. I felt like a kid they were being forced to babysit sometimes but they were having a party when I was in another room.

I didn't think they were the socially anxious types at all, in public they're always talking big about good communication and how everyone else sucks at friendship. Naturally I was feeling unwelcome, then the therapist showed me proof of this shit hampering my mental health and job too. It seemed like the most peaceful way out would be to ghost them before softblocking, right?

Wrong, I didn't talk to any of them for a month, then softblocked 5 out of 6 people. The last one was closer to me so I was hesitant, but then she finally decided to send me a text after months asking why I was quitting the group. I tried to not get angry and told her it wasn't the right place or time for me. She said okay and if she could help she would. That is when I accidentally said that maybe treating a friend like you do want them in your life would have helped a few months ago. I said this partially because we have a favourite unpopular ship and these folks often assume someone has switched sides if they aren't actively talking about that ship, privately shading them too.

Anyways the last girl then said Excuse me? Do you not understand how busy we are? Sorry we couldn't cheer for you always but it's not like you were barred from talking to us? You didn't think we could have issues, or that we didn't want to bother you? You couldn't think beyond yourself?

She was still typing when I blocked her. I feel bad and I feel angry. Next therapy session isn't until next month so yeah

General stuff

A slut for a good coat. His main one is his favorite but he's a beast at the thrifts. There is a risk of bodily harm if someone tries to get between him and a vintage coat. He's ready to shank someone. God save you if you are a reseller. He can smell it.

On that topic I see the underground getting a Lot of vintage clothing from the dumps so monsters as a society have two distinct styles: 70s/80s/90s/00s and monster culture originals pre-burial

Style-wise he goes for anything heavy and durable. Above ground he lets himself enjoy dressing up more and his style gets a more specific direction and goes very 80s with a touch of the 90s.

He likes plays and musicals. Prefers more local, low-key stuff though. Mettaton put him off uber-professional productions. He'll still sit through it for Edge tho.

Big boy <3 He's like 5'1 (154-ish cm) and fat. The fat doesn't manifest the same way because monster food doesn't work like human food. He just is fat and so his body reflects that. Some of his bones are wider and thicker to take up more space to emulate extra fat on the body. (if I get any comments about fat being a bad word or fatphobia in general just know I will hunt you down and donate your organs to the needy)

Reset trauma... He gets a therapist topside. It took a lot of convincing though. He's been prescribed half the pharmacy but it's working!

GLAM ROCK GLAM ROCK GLAM ROCK. You can't convince me he and Edge wouldn't bond over glam rock. Like Red enjoys pretty much anything that falls under rock, but he introduced Edge when Edge was a babybones so it's their thing. Mourned when he found out it isn't really a thing anymore.

Space nerd of course. Galaxy clusters are his special interest specifically (btw every single skele is autistic. All of them). He finds bigness interesting. Do not let him get high and bring up space he gets really philosophical and has breakdowns. Incomprehensible vastness isn't always fun to think about when blasted.

Flirty drunk of course, but that's just stage one of Red getting hammered. If he gets like super super plastered the bravado goes elsewhere and he starts taking bets and picking fights.

This is a lot darker but that gold tooth isn't his... And you might be thinking "yeah??? obviously???". You don't get it. He got his tooth knocked out in a scrap with a metal elemental and decided to just trade.... tldr he ripped another monster's tooth out of their face to replace the one said monster knocked out. On a less dark note, he's a great partner.

He. Would. Never. Cheat. I mean it. I get the fandom characterizes him as a whore and a womanizer but in my heart, I know he would never. He has a lot of trust issues from the underground. If you somehow managed to get into a relationship with him, he is yours from now to the heat-death of the universe.

He is comfortable with flings, but you have to be friends for at least a year (only kinda joking) before he considers an actual relationship.

Would I be crucified if I said he prefers Queer Platonic Relationships? probably. I think he would though. Like he enjoys intimacy and stuff but isn't actually dying to pursue a romantic relationship yk.

Whether or not it's platonic, romantic, or something else, he loves dates. He's not gonna do super big dates every other week but he loves a good movie marathon and cuddle sesh.

Or a sesh. He's not a pothead but he accepts any request to smoke. Quiet high. I also mentioned the introspective philosopher thing. I mean it, you gotta keep an eye on this guy. Other than that he's chill.

Big dates happen every few months. They usually happen when he realizes it's been a while. Big dates end up with you feeling more loved than you thought possible. You get at least one gift–not necessarily expensive–and are treated to something you both enjoy. Red prefers quieter or less social activities. You'd think this would be limiting, that "or" is powerful. An arthouse is quiet enough to cancel out the social aspect and a (car) drag race requires less social energy, so it cancels out the volume.

Speaking of art, he has a weird relationship with art. Initially, he was a hater. Simply put he was a hater. Then, as he spent time in art museums and art shows, he developed a much more personal relationship with art. As surface level as it might seem, his favorite artist is Van Gogh. Red nearly cried when he first saw The Starry Night on his computer and then did when he found Starry Night Over the Rhône. There was something about the way Van Gogh depicted the sky that touched him painfully deeply. Then he found out Van Gogh's life story and cried so hard he threw up. It wasn't pretty and Edge was very confused and very scared.

If you take him to see these paintings or others that are his favorites he'd seriously consider it some kind of lifelong promise. He'd also cry then and there too.

I really think he'd be a lot more emotional once he gets topside and a therapist

Receiving love language is touch. Gentle stuff. He isn't used to casual touches that both mean no harm and have no expectations from him.

Giving is acts of service. The laziness was not fully his own temperament. You see how you fare if your life is reset hundreds if not thousands of times by a rampaging flower that seems has a weird thing going on with your brother. You wouldn't do that well, would you? Thought so. Anyway, he likes to fix things to show he cares. Your toaster is acting funky? He's there and it's already fixed don't even worry about it. Ugh, there are dishes and you really don't have it in you to wash them right now? He's on it like a house on fire. Laundry? no. no he hates laundry actually.

As always thinking lots abt uf but still on a little bit of a swap kick so I wanted to add a little more context for what I'd mentioned in the Stretch post abt his relationship w/ Blue

So, as per my usual baseline, the royal scientist made Sans first, and then Papyrus. Almost exactly the same. Sans came out well (alive), but unfortunately very frail with slightly unstable magic. Instead of pushing it too much (and what leads to how unswapped Sanses typically gaining the judgement ability), that focus shifted gears to Papyrus, as the corrections made "in utero" (very early days of test tube life) proved sufficient, providing a much more stable and sturdy test subject.

Hence, those experiments were then performed on Papyrus, while a much slower and more thought out approach was taken with Sans. Both became very healthy as they grew, gaining tremendous control over their magic and Papyrus seemingly following in his brother's footsteps of being an absolute powerhouse.

At the time, and even after they left the labs, Blue wasn't fully aware of the extent of experiments done on Stretch. Similar to classic Sans, Blue was incredibly smart from an early age, and took it upon himself to be his brother's caretaker and teacher after [REDACTED], but being a couple of homeless kids didn't exactly make that super easy in the beginning.

Still, with the help of a few kind strangers turned new friends, they slowly got back on their feet...and of course, that was when Stretch began presenting and complaining of strange and worrying symptoms.

Blue and Stretch were always very close from an early age, very similar to the Tale brothers. The prime difference was that Blue had significantly more energy and drive than Sans, which made him a better role model and caretaker to Stretch, and so Stretch never felt that pressure to grow up faster to be the caretaker of his brother the way Rus and Edge did.

So when things changed, and Stretch became more dependent on Blue rather than less, like most other kids going into teendom, even though Blue never really outwardly faltered and did his best to help Stretch through everything, there was a crack in the foundation.

Blue, being a caretaker, teacher, and older brother (along with the standard trait of tending towards secrecy), had that pressure to always be more okay than he actually felt. He had to remain strong for Papyrus, doubly so after he got sick. He couldn't slow down or show weakness or do anything that might make Stretch feel like a burden or a tax on him.

Especially not after Stretch had tried explaining symptoms of the judging ability, and the obvious toll that was starting to take on his mental health. Blue was really all Stretch had, and as Stretch's HP slowly ticked away with every downswing, and never ticked back up, he was terrified of how increasingly susceptible his brother was to Falling Down.

I need to clarify and emphasize that Blue was only around 13-15 when this all started, and 17-20 at its peak. He'd been the primary parent figure to his 5 year younger brother since around the time he was 10, so Blue's entirely life pretty much revolved around taking care of Stretch for his entire childhood. It stands to reason the thought of him Falling being beyond Blue's control was one of his biggest nightmares, because even though others didn't alienate him the way they did Stretch, Stretch was the only person who he really felt a strong connection to, especially after everything they went through together as kids.

They knew things about each other they probably couldn't ever tell anyone else, and Blue had been Stretch's only real family since the day he was "born". Watching Stretch decline over his teen years was a special form a torture that he couldn't ever let Stretch know he was going through. He couldn't put that on him.

That didn't stop Stretch from being able to tell though. Brotherly intuition, knowing each other so well, and of course, the judge, the worst his health became, the more stressed Blue became, and the deeper that sinking pit in Stretch's soul sunk knowing he was the cause of it all.

That's why I'd mentioned Blue's joining the guard being the last straw. He joined when he was around 21, because it paid better than the most of the other meager jobs he’d been spreading himself way too thin to work keeping them afloat, which meant more time to take care of Papyrus.

The thought of his incredibly non-confrontational brother forcing himself into a position where he might have to kill capture a human, deal with rowdy drunks stumbling out of Muffet's at all hours, as well as regularly spar with the captain sent Stretch into a very intense guilt and resentment spiral.

Over the years, the more Blue worried the more Stretch tried to hide from him, but now this tipped the scales and Stretch became determined to do whatever it took to become less useless.

(Another aside, Toriel did not know how young Papyrus was when she offered him the Judge position, as the brothers routinely lied about their ages since they'd had to take care of themselves from such a young age. She suspects they're younger than they say certainly, but she didn't realize he was only 15 ish at the time).

The more Stretch pushed himself, the more practice he got, the better he was at lying and keeping up appearances. And now Blue's own schtick was biting him on the tailbone because even though he worried frequently that Stretch was pushing himself too hard (especially after learning he'd accepted the job from Toriel to act as the Judge), all he could do was try his best to be supportive and encouraging, lest Stretch realize just how stressed out and exhausted he really was all the time.

So, basically, both brothers know the other isn't okay, but they won't talk about it ever because Blue is stubborn as hell and Stretch learned from the best. And by that point, Stretch was becoming a young adult, he could certainly make decisions for himself, right?

Just like the vast majority of my skelebros, they locked themselves into this broken carousel dynamic of always interlocking, never actually meeting, and continuously dancing around the gaping hole in the middle of the room because they both know, if one falls in, the other with dive to catch him, and they may both very well be damned if they take that chance. (They're dumb but also this is what happens when incredibly smart children are forced to raise themselves. They have no idea how to function healthily, only to the best of their ability #sigh #childhoodtraumamoment)

Oh, and one more thing. I would like to add that part of the reason Stretch is so hard on himself is because, back during training at the labs, he was constantly compared to Blue, who exceeded at everything. He was scolded and reprimanded for falling short, and it was rarely ever accounted for that he was five years younger than Blue. This made Stretch feel inferior and frequently doubt his own ability, and gave Blue a strong resentment of [REDACTED], along with a fierce protective streak of Stretch.

Unfortunately the years of trying to unteach Stretch those mindsets were mostly undone by the damage the judge and health issues did (they just proved him right, he really was just a useless failure...)

I've actually done both Sci and Lust already, and you can click on their names to go to the original posts if you're curious about them ^^ and I’m glad you guys seem to be enjoying these smooch-ability rating things!

Alrighty, after some thought and consideration, I’d say Geno gets a smooch-ability rating of 9. He’s still pretty safe, but if you surprise him, he wouldn’t be too happy about it. Smooches could also get a little gross, with his constant mouth bleeding and all, but if you wanted to overlook that and go in for a smooch anyway, be my guest

1) How dangerous is Geno’s mouth? In and of itself, not very. His teeth are flat, as opposed to being sharp or jagged, meaning there’s less risk of your lips being snagged or cut on them. 2 points for having safe chompers. I’d say the fact that he’s glitched could result in a sting or a zap (like it might with Error) upon smooching him, but he doesn’t seem to be nearly as glitched as Error does. In comparison, he’s still pretty solid

2) Would he bite, and is he aggressive? I’m inclined to believe that Geno may possibly be a biter; the chance of it happening is small, but still a bit more noticeable than it’d be with Sans Classic, for example. As for his aggression, I’d say he’s a little bit more moody and temperamental than his original UT counterpart (likely due to a mix of trauma, possible resentment toward certain individuals, him being from a genocide timeline, and his whole thing with Determination), but not as moody and temperamental as someone like UF Papyrus or Error. He knows how to keep himself in line and relaxed, and the only chance of that self control slipping would probably be if something or someone happened to set him off or trigger him. Since he’s relatively tame but still carries a slight chance of lashing out, I’d say he gets 1 point for this area

3) Are there any health hazards to the smoocher? Quite possibly. While he doesn’t carry around a weapon regularly that could cause accidental injury, he is very adept with magic. We know he has no qualms against using magic when necessary, so if he somehow felt threatened, he could use magic and sort of act on impulse to defend himself. Beyond that, blood constantly drips from his mouth and he has that big gash across his chest area. Blood, no matter what race or species it’s from, could very well be a biohazard. Taking that into consideration and the fact that kissing someone and getting their blood all over you is uh… pretty gross, I’m gonna have to give him 0 points

4) Does he have a sympathetic backstory? He went through all the same stuff as Sans Classic (raising his brother, working multiple odd jobs to financially support both of them, caring for Frisk/the player, being the only one to know about the resets, and being the one to watch judgement hall), which already gets him a small amount of sympathy on its own. That’s not all he ends up having to suffer through, though. In a horrifying turn of events, the player/Frisk decides to go on a murderous rampage and kills every monster they come across, which would’ve been a big betrayal to him. He repeatedly has to experience the death of everyone he’s loved and cared about every time they reset, then out of a desire to stop them for good, he starts experimenting with Determination (from what I remember reading). My memory of the events of Aftertale are a bit fuzzy since it’s been a while since I’ve read the comic, but through a series of events, I know he somehow gets trapped in the save screen and is unable to leave. The game goes on without him, spawning in a new Sans, and he’s just. Doomed to forever be stuck and unable to leave or communicate with anyone. While I believe Aftertale does give him a neutral or happy ending after a while, the fact that he went through so many tragic events back to back and probably has an insane amount of trauma from all of it gains him a full 2 points for sympathy

5) Does Geno deserve a smooch? After everything he’s done and been through, and all horrifying things he’s been forced to endure, yeah, I’d say he’s pretty deserving of a smooch. 2 more points for him

6) Is he cute or cool? I’m not sure if I’d call him cutesy, because when the pixels over his bad eye vanish, we’re left with this disfigured, melted half of his head (some depictions of him have a melted head, others just have the melted socket) and a socket that’s beyond repair. Which, if you were another skeleton seeing that, that on its own would probably be nightmare inducing. In terms of coolness though, I’d say he could be passing; he’s got this very laidback and chill personality, he doesn’t take shit from anyone, he’s incredibly strong and skilled with magic despite the condition that his body and soul are in, and he’s a fighter. His design is simple, but it’s effective at conveying what he went through, from the blood on his slippers, the gash on his chest, him having pixels over one eye, and him wearing the scarf of his deceased brother, he’s unique, and pretty easily identifiable. 2 points for coolness

In total, Geno gets a rating of 9. If you absolutely needed to kiss him, you could, but you might end up covered in his blood, which isn’t exactly ideal. Since he’s a bit standoffish, he might not be too thrilled about a surprise smooch, but I can’t see him being the type to cause serious injury over it. At worst, he’d probably get super intimidating and tell you never to do that ever again

"Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Jan. 18 memo, issued by Chris Spencer, director of the Office of Policy and Budget, mandated Florida public universities compile a report on the number of patients receiving numerous types of gender-affirming care through UF Health facilities starting from Jan. 1, 2018. The information was due Feb. 10.

DeSantis’ press secretary Bryan Griffin responded Monday afternoon to The Alligator’s request for comment, saying the administration plans to reassess the public funding of certain initiatives through state-funded institutions.

“Like [diversity, equity and inclusion] and [critical race theory], radical gender ideology has supplanted academics at many institutions of higher education,” Griffin said. “We are committed to fully understanding the amount of public funding that is going toward such non-academic pursuits to best assess how to get our colleges and universities refocused on education and truth.”

UF followed all applicable state and federal laws when complying with the request, UF spokesperson Cynthia Roldan said. The UF Office of the General Counsel reviewed the responsive documents and ensured protected health information was removed before the audit’s production.

The university will not speculate on the state’s intended use of the report, Roldan added."

Jaune wrong to use the paper people as a mental defense to keep sane as they were people who deserved choice.

Ruby wrong for not admitting her ptsd sighs sooner, as most people are denze and dont notice unless told

Weiss wrong for with holding the details if pennies death( granted she tried to stop this but just delayed it)

While bratty to bring up blake and yang have been too focus on being the bees, she did make a point as even uf they did confess yang should have asked her sister what was up or notice her energy was lower

Blakes fault was trying to jerp everyone calm. You dont keep calm, you freak out get everything out to get calm.

If they paid attention, told the truth and spoke up this would have happened sooner, yet it would have been less damaging.

No one of our heroes was in the right. No one was in the wrong.

They all made common mental health mistakes.

I have mental health issues, so I say these , as I made all the sa4ne mistakes, they did, and it lime wise ended horrible and dark, and the thing about the darkness if you climb out its going to take awhile.

Breaking down each point

You are right about Jaune. He took away people's choices to protect them , as by listening to someone's (penny's) Choice he had to end a life, not save it.

That's how trauma works. You don't really talk about it until the dam bursts and you hurt people, because you never said how much the stuff they were saying and doing hurt you. It compounds and gets worse.

Weiss Respected Ruby's right to know what happened to Penny while respecting Jaune's right to defend his action. She made the best decision she could.

Weiss, Blake, and Yang have tried reaching out to Ruby, they knew things were wrong, but Ruby kept pushing them away. They have been pushy to some degree, forcing everyone forward, but none of them are equipped to deal with what Ruby's dealing with.

The Bees deserve to be together. Just because someones fucked up isn't a good reason to not find good things for yourself. Yang raised Ruby and it's high time she got something of her own.

Keeping calm is good, but sometimes things are bad, and you just have to let them be bad for a bit.

I've been in most of their positions, both as the one struggling, the one trying to help the one struggling, and trying to live my life by having not revolve around other's struggles.

Not every decision has to be strictly "Right" or "Wrong." Sometimes it just has to be made, consequences be damned.

alright i'm thinking about Scar again, Its time for tumblr on the school computer when i'm supposed to be doing work for health-

Okay so i was thinking, If Scar is a wooden doll.. Could he be painted on? Maybe he paints on himself? When he needs a hug maybe he just paints something onto his arm or hand that he needs one.

Maybe one night he has a panic attack, Or hell, Maybe someone's come to come and collect him, Only calling him a toy that needs to be returned (Yes I am adding hidden backstory here).

Scar can't speak, He physically can't, He heads to the largest gathering of hermits he can find and just paints "HELP" in all red letters.

Imagine the same thing happening in last life and Scar trying to go to anyone he can find, But nobody's willing to help. Just acting like he's just trying to sell suspicious crystals.

Nobody sees Scar during that life series again, Nobody sees him in the player list on hermitcraft, Someone should really start searching..

A woman from a foreign land is sentenced to die but is allowed to choose the method of execution. As per the laws of her land, she asks to die in honourable combat against the King's knights, armed with a wooden sword while the knights have real weapons.

It's been 24 hours since the execution started and the King is running out of knights... So he sends for his nephew.

My first Feligami fic, written and edited in a six-hour-long fever dream. Probably the darkest thing I will ever write, but because it’s me, you know it has a happy ending.

DnD story time!

I'm gonna vaguely tell it so as to avoid any possible spoilers.

So my party has been tasked to go towards the local winery to check why the fuck there's no wine. We are a couple of shmucks:

Kith, the telepathic bug sorcerer

Amara, the always horny tiefling battle cleric

Borig, the relieable dwarven fighter

Drago, the mischiveous koboldian bard

And I, Light, the wildcard tabaxian druid

We accepted the quest and moved towards the winery, it was raining a lot and windy af so instead of walking the long trek, we shortcutted through a river. Since Amara could fly she picked us up one by one, when she was carrying the last one, Borig, the DM said "Wow Amara, you've been doing trips nonstop across this turbulent river in this rainy and windy weather and now you're carrying a very heavy dwarf with all his weapons and armor. Hmmmmmmmmm, roll me strength." Needless to say, she failed that roll, causing Borig to slip from her hands and falling towards the water.

In a panic, Drago casted feather fall so now our bearded friend was falling into his doom in a slow fashion. I decided to act and casted shape water, making an ice cube. "So Borig, you're slowly falling into your death when you see the cloaked cat move his arms, making ice appear below your feet, you gently stand above it."

We all sighed of relief

"The rest of your companions see you become smaller and smaller until they realize you're heading towards the rapids"

Panic ruled us and I ran on the river bank and started casting more ice cubes yelling "BORIG, JUMP!"

Borig started jumping on them like frogger "Wow Borig, jumping in this rain, wind, on ice cubes that float on a turbulent river? Roll me athletics"

He slipped and fell in the water, panicking I start to remove all the water that surrounds him, making a mini moses sea split, and he started to run as I kept casting the spell until he finally reached the shore. "Uf puff, thank you my friend, *inhales* I owe you the biggest tankard of the finest ale, let me just" and Borig collapses to the ground ass first and recovers a bit of stamina, I sit alongside him, feeling my arms aching from the constant spell casting as the rest of the party flocks towards us.

After a bit we resumed our trek. We decided to sneak around and managed to approach the winery undetected, it was surrounded by wooden creatures, we didn't know they were hostile so Drago casted Major Illusion and made a carbon copy of Kith, to everyone's surprise and proceded to move it mimicking their voice "Hullooooo tis I Kith, I love me some honey and get inside people's noggins, tralalalalala!" Kith sternly looked at him with their compound eyes and despite lacking eyebrows, they were frowning at him.

The creatures slowly approached the illusion and attacked with their branches dispelling it. Now that we know they were hostile I casted Call Lightning, wildshaped into a tiny mouse and moved into the middle of the winnery, took an advantage point and started squeak lightning, the creatures, attracted by the noise of lightning would gather in groups towards the source, making it very easy. However one figure exited the winery and was looking around confused, I squeaked towards him and after getting half his health he spots me and yells in druidic "GET THE VERMIN" once he issued that command, every wooden monster stiffened up and slowly turned towards me. That was when the rest of the party joined the fray. (Unfortunately I missed the fight session) I wake up and see that I'm inside Borig's clothing "The princess mouse decided to wake up eh? Mind if you turn back into a cat?" Grinning I did just that, and Borig started feeling a very heavy sinking force on his shoulder as suddently there was a full grown tabaxi on his shoulder, collapsing due to the weight being too much to bear. "Apologies my friend, here." And I hand Borig a Goodberry. I stretch a bit "So how did the fig-" I see the carnage on the field and the winery now had a 2 story hole from a fireball. "WHAT HAVE YOU DUNCES DONE??? WHY IS THERE A 2 STORY HOLE ON THE PLACE WE NEED TO SEARCH FOR CLUES!?!?!?" "Weeeeeelllllll" Kith's voice resounds in my head "lets say that it was done by, how should I put it, Holy fire." "Oh for Gaia's sake" I say while facepalming. "SHUT YOUR MANDIBLES, IT COULD'VE BEEN ANYONE!" I hear from the hole on the second floor "My dear Amara, you're the only one who, not only knows, but constantly casting it." "Let's just focus on finding out the fate of the owners." I move upstairs with Kith to where Amara is while Drago decides to head to the basement, Borig decides to follow him.

In the basement, Drago makes quite the discovery, Dragon Fire wine, the best of the region. "Oooooohhhhh yeaaaa baby, now this is the shiiiit! I wonder if there are more around her- wait, whats that?" He sees the outcrop of a level and pulls it, revealing a hidden passage, he's standing there observing it when Borig appears. "What are you doing here?" "OH BORIG GOOD TIMING!, could you maybe idk, go inside the hallway and check whats inside?" "Why would I do it?" "Oh my man, guy, pal, you're the best at surviving stuff aren'tcha? Me? I'm just good with my music but you? You're the kind of person to go against the world and come back victorious!" Borig silently stares "And I'll give you this wine bottle!" "Deal" Borig enters the hallway and feels cold, very very cold, to the point of losing consciousness but he manages to leave it, he peeks the hallway and sees some brown mold had grown. "Drago, hand me another bottle of wine, I wanna test something" "Uuuhhh okay dude, I'm gonna stand by the stairs ok?" Borig then makes a makeshift molotov and rolls it into the hallway, where he sees the mold comes into life surrounding the bottle, however what he did not expect was for it to grow so fast it expanded outside the door, 5 feet from him. Instantly he feels that familiar cold in his body, his energy fading as he collapses. Drago gets alarmed and rushes towards his companion only to feel that sapping cold, he manages to remain conscious and casts Healing Touch and steps back, Borig wakes up and before he can understand what's going on he feels that familiar cold that knocks him out yet again. "Oh shit this is bad, really really bad. Guys! Help! Borig is in trouble!"

Hearing the commotion, the group hurries to the basement, whilst Borig critically failed an attempt to regain consciousness and is almost reaching that eternal slumber. "GUYS PLEASE HELP HIM, BUT DON'T GO NEAR HIM, BUT HELP HIM!" I cast Aura of Healing, keeping him from shaking Death's hand while the others formulate a plan, and sure they did, they lasso'd his ass away from the mold while I kept him falling in and out of consciousness. Once safe we healed him and Kith decided to exterminate the entire mold with ice after finding out what had happened from Drago.

After that we idle around the kitched discussing what could have happened to the owners when we hear "Hellooooo, are you friends or foes?" We look from the kitched wall hole a group of individuals, "Depends if you attack us!" The group widen their eyes and look around everywhere for the source of that noise. "Kith!" They hold their 4 arms apologetically " We have a companion who can only speak mentally, they mean no harm and often forgets that most aren't used to hear voices in their heads." "Sorry!" The elder of the group calms them down and we meet outside, we learn that they're the owners of the winery and that they are grateful for our help in driving out the enemies, we mention the leader was in the basement doing who knows what and that unfortunately had escaped. "The basement you say? Oh I hope he hasn't found the mold" "The mold?" "Yes, its a mold that freezes the temperature and is crucial for wine making in these lands" We give each other some worrying looks as we heard this. After some more talking we agreed to escort a cart full of wine towards the city and get our reward.

So moral of the story: If a mold seems harmful to you, it may be benefitial to someone else.
