officially going to be taking a standup comedy class next semester!!! now my schedule is literally:

sociology class about queer history

standup class

buddy cole documentary which counts as a class despite only meeting with the professor when i want to and being a project i would work on even if i didn't get college credit

god i love majoring in comedy in college

#i realized my science credit was already taken care of by a dual enrollment class i did in high school so that gave me an opening #and i already have a plan to take care of all the other general education stuff later so i might as well load up on comedy courses #unfortunately due to some bullshit that's not as interesting as i think it is a lot of the comedy classes aren't running this fall #so the only one at my level with open seats is standup #and y'know typically i do NOT enjoy performing standup. i love watching standup very much but performing it's not for me #(plus ik my nemesis is in that class and she's also in my 2 other real classes so ugh i'm gonna be seeing a lot of her) #HOWEVER. i've already taken a course with this professor and he likes me #he's a kith fan so if i have to miss class or get an extension bc of work on the buddy cole doc he'll probably be super understanding #and!!! most importantly!!! he's really into character standup which not a lot of students choose to do #but for me. this gives me a perfect opportunity to actually work on some of my aubrey material as a ''standup character'' #or at the very least shoehorn buddy cole into discussions lmao #also. my improv class is right before this one and improv is probably the type of comedy i'm most confident in #so maybe that will give me a nice push to get more confident in standup #and as for the ''constantly having to be around my nemesis'' thing. well i can hope that she manages to chill out by then #but even if she is insufferable. i can take solace in being the one with kith connections and paul will almost definitely let me rant to hi

anyways content warning for shitty behavior, stalking, kidnapping, maniulation, and general yandere behavior.

i'm not endorsing this behavior and i'm honestly just doing this for cringe ass nae nae fun :3

Not all of my ocs would engage in yandere behaviors so i’ll just include some of the ones that probably would in some (probably alternate) universe.

MEPHIS would probably be the most yandere in my regular au, excluding Sabayon. They’d be really REALLY possessive and critical of your every movement or decision, though they’d try not to outwardly show it. The last thing they’d want is you thinking there’s anything wrong with you. You’re honestly perfect in it’s eyes considering you probably show it decent respect for it to become enamored with you. You could honestly just say “good morning, Mephis,” one too many times for them to become obsessed with you. They’d definitely be the type to steal you away because “I need to make sure you don’t go off doing something bad,” hence the possessiveness. They are a puppetmaster so, they want the control. If you tried to reason with them to let you go they’d start getting angry and panicked, saying some bullshit like how you’d need to stay with them longer so you can understand that you’re happy, you just don’t recognize your own emotions. Yikes!!! They’re the type to have mood swings, suddenly thinking that you hate them and that your hatred needs to be corrected so you two can ‘be happy’. They’d probably try not to outright kill anyone over you, but they’d damn well threaten them. DON’T LET ANYONE TREAT YOU LIKE THIS.

SABAYON is pretty much already a yandere in my main au. Due to the cultural practices that he set in place, you better fucking hope that they don’t take an interest in you. Their behaviors with Afastyr show exactly how they’d be. You caught their interest somehow, and now you’ve found yourself far, FAR away from home, locked up in a cage or dark room or something. They can see and understand that you’re scared, this is such a new experience for you! They’d back off and give you some time to adjust, but you’d better adjust quickly, so help you gods. They’d start trying to acclimate you to your situation by offering you meat and drinks, leaving them in your cage/cell. If you’re, understandably, not trusting of the food, they’d start getting a little irritated. “You can’t starve yourself forever,” and “You’ll realize how generous I’m being eventually.” If you still refuse, that’s when it’d withdraw all attention entirely, until you’re finally asking or begging for food or water. Yes, the food is just regular meat, it’s not poisoned or anything of the sort, they use this moment for you as a “See, you can trust me!” type of moment. They would definitely kill over you, making sure no one even gets close to saving you. Unfortunately, if you’re another god in this scenario, you’re probably gonna end up sacrificed. ESPECIALLY if they develop a kind of soft spot for you, and find that they would want to keep living with you alive, they’d have to sacrifice you in repentance. Best of luck to you if you find yourself striking their fancy, you better hope you have some Afastyr-like luck. <3

RYKA, on a similar note to Sabayon, has something ingrained into her brain about relationships and love. She’s not a god, but she’s still powerful, especially with manipulation. Being a high priestess of Sabayon has always made her think that relationships have a power dynamic. She’s honestly probably the type to stalk you. You saw her at a meeting once, and now things in your room go missing, reappearing days later. And would you look at that, you’re meeting Ryka again at another meeting, and you’re having lovely conversation! She’d be so unassuming that it hurts. After a while of knowing her, having meetings with her, preparing for sacrifices or rituals together, you come to really love her company. She’s so understanding, and such a good listener. Your missing items and stalker’s behavior are getting worse, however. You finally decide you trust her enough to tell her all about your stalker problem, and oh she’s just so concerned for you! You poor, poor thing! Tell her all about it; hell, why not let her stay with you so you feel a little safer! You fool. You utter fool. This would be about the time you realize that she’s your stalker. You gave her easy access to your home, and she’s using it to the fullest. Now you’re noticing that when she visits, you’re missing a LOT more. Once you confront her about it, that’s when you’re really not getting out of her web. Now you’re not allowed to leave your house, you’re bound up in your own room while she comes and goes, acting like she lives here. “I don't know why you’re upset, have I not been your perfect companion through the time we’ve known each other?” and “You’re making a fuss over a few missing items, honestly, you should grow up. It’s not like you were kidnapped.” She’s just waiting for the Stockholm syndrome to set in. 😞

VAUXARIN is honestly not likely to be that much of a yandere, at least not in my main au, so just play pretend for me okay? I know my partner, who asked for these headcanons, was probably hoping to see him on this list, so suspend your disbelief. He, like Ryka, would also be a stalker. A total stalker. BUT, unlike Ryka, he doesn’t care if you know about it. In fact, he hopes you do find out. He hopes that you wander the Abyss, looking over your shoulder every minute, checking for him. He hopes that seeing him around, even minding his business, puts you on edge. If you confront him about it, he’d outright admit it. What are you going to do about it, really? Tell on him? Report him to the higher ups? Not only would they likely not believe you, his abilities would probably prevent him from ever being caught. He’d rub it in your face, all “Go ahead and tell them. Tell them that I sneak around, watching your every move.” He’d probably be the type to tell you what exactly he’s done. He’s detailing his every crime. He’d be horrible in court. “I broke your lock with my scythe and watched you sleep.” “I killed that other god for looking at you for too long. They said they didn’t even know your name, but I’m not taking chances.” “Yes you saw me dragging chains into my room, did you think I was just going to watch you from afar?” BOOM KIDNAPPED!!!! He'd just keep you chained up in his room, honestly. He doesn’t care if you don’t like him or not, he doesn’t care if you beg and cry and scream to be let go. You’re in no position to make demands, and he’s going to be keeping you.

I'm thinking about price again my dudes. like I honestly don't think he was a bad guy or that he had bad intentions. he—like everyone else involved in project freelancer—choose to wholeheartedly believe in the director, and he genuinely thought that an out of the box/unconventional solution like project freelancer could've been the key to winning the war.

I also think that he did genuinely want the best for the freelancers, and that his psychological experiments were not intended to result in the outcomes that they did. I don't think price wanted to see /his/ freelancer agents that he personally hand-picked fail—or continually be put into positions that would result in failure, but, unfortunately, he was at the mercy of the director's whims and a fundamentally broken system as much as the agent's themselves were.

when I look at the way he interacts with wash in recovery one and s6, I don't see someone who is doing what he is solely due to underlying ulterior motives. like don't get me wrong, price didn't trust wash, and the extensive therapy sessions did have hidden agendas, but I think he really did want to see wash up and running again, and he does express some level of remorse over the whole epsilon incident along with south betraying wash and shooting him in the back. but again, unfortunately for price, he's dealing with a man who already had an inherent dislike of people poking around inside his head, who also doesn't want to beat around the bush and deal with all of price's bullshit therapy jargon because he's fine, so just give him a gun and tell him where to shoot.

at the end of s6, price wanted to negotiate with wash and meta, but unfortunately (for the umpteenth time), he was dealing with 3 people who were far past the point of negotiating and already had their minds made up. wash was prepared to die if it meant the destruction of freelancer and the meta, the meta was prepared to do anything he was asked if it would lead him to the alpha, and the director was prepared to continue using his agent's to carry out his personal agenda and eliminate those who got in his way.

then price gets sent to jail, left to rot by the man who he trusted. some years pass and he hears about how a group of colorful soldiers brought the director to justice, and then the prison transport ship he's called home gets hijacked by some mercenaries, and finding himself free (relatively speaking) for the first time in a very long time, he decides he's not taking any chances.

sharkface was doomed to die—price made sure to direct his single focused rage and desire for revenge towards agent carolina, for she had always been an empathetic and deeply caring woman even if she wasn't the best at showing it, and her competitive nature was an easy and obvious exploit. unfortunately for sharkface though, with all of his attention on carolina, that meant that agent washington would fall off his radar, and he would have no problem delivering the finishing blow that carolina herself couldn't—wash is a pragmatic man first and foremost, and he has no qualms about killing people if they pose a danger to himself and those close to him, and unlike carolina he only let's his emotions get the better of him in the field when he can logically justify his actions to himself as being unrelated to his feelings.

locus is a man who has been irreparably scarred by the great war along with so many others, and he has no sense of identity outside of being a soldier. his interest (and subsequent disappointment and anger) over agent washington not accepting him as a fellow soldier is very telling. price wonders what locus would think if he told him that agent washington had been court-martialed and demoted prior to being recruited for freelancer for disobeying orders and attacking his CO.

when locus has a sudden interest in the meta, he decides to take the opportunity to sow the seeds of doubt and open locus' eyes to the truth of his partnership with felix, and how the other man wants locus to stay a broken, mindless soldier when he does not need to be one. after all, price is and always will be a counselor, and while he thoroughly failed at his job in the past due to things that were both in and out of his control, here he sees a chance to do some good and make amends on his own terms.

What do you think Voldemort was doing during book 6?

Well, we don't know a lot about what he's up to, but what we know is Garrick Ollivander was kidnapped in July of 1996:

“Talking of Diagon Alley,” said Mr. Weasley, “looks like Ollivander’s gone too.” “The wandmaker?” said Ginny, looking startled. “That’s the one. Shop’s empty. No sign of a struggle. No one knows whether he left voluntarily or was kidnapped.” “But wands — what’ll people do for wands?” “They’ll make do with other makers,” said Lupin. “But Ollivander was the best, and if the other side have got him it’s not so good for us.”

And it makes sense Voldemort would be interested in Ollivander. See, the only thing Voldemort cares about during the second war is killing Harry Potter. That's it, he just wants the object of all his failings dead and gone. So everything he does is to serve that purpose.

So he returns from the dead at the end of book 4 and fails to kill Harry Potter again. Now, he starts to wonder why? What causes him to keep failing in killing this kid who is a way worse wizard than him (not really, but that's what Voldemort thinks)? And he can't blame Lily's love protection this time.

So he searches for the answer. For the trick Harry is pulling, so Voldemort can rectify it and kill this bane to his life.

So in book 5, he tries to retrieve the prophecy. He knows there is a prophecy about how Harry is his future vanquisher. Now, I don't think he believed this prophecy at first, but now he failed at killing Harry twice, so he thinks maybe there's something in this prophecy that could explain it. He starts thinking that maybe the prophecy isn't bullshit.

After he fails in retrieving the prophecy due to Harry Potter, he goes to his next possible lead into how to kill Harry — figure out what went wrong the second time.

He made sure Lily's blood protection wouldn't stop him in his resurrection, so now he needs to figure out how to circumvent whatever happened between their wands. And who's better to ask than the best wandmaker in the UK? So he kidnaps Ollivander and probably tortures and questions him on everything Voldemort could think of that might be relevant. And more, just to be safe. (It's why he tries to use Lucius' wand in the Battle of the Seven Potters)

We also know he wasn't checking up on his Horcruxes. If he was, he would've noticed the ring and perhaps the locket were missing. It doesn't seem like he knew though, since he didn't act as desperate as later in book 7 when he knows his Horcruxes are getting hunted down.

Unfortunately, this and Draco's mission (that is more punishment than mission, but Voldemort really does want Dumbledore dead) are the only things we know Voldemort does in book 6. I mean, he's not even present in the battle at the end of the book. So unfortunately anything beyond this point is in the realm of guesswork (I'd like to think I'm better at this than Dumbledore, though).

Things Voldemort might've been doing during book 6 (in no particular order):

Not giving up on the prophecy and trying to track the full version down by other means — if it happened, nothing came of it.

Forcing Ollivander to create a new wand for him that could defeat Harry — if it happened, nothing came out since the wand chooses the wizard and is not made to demand.

Researching wands and wand lore in general beyond just Ollivander's words. Perhaps, during this research, which may have even taken him abroad, he discovered the legends of the Elder Wand and some of its traces — if it happened, he noted it as a backup plan if he couldn't kill Harry with any other wand. (he ended up falling to this backup plan in book 7) (I also think this one is the most likely to have happened)

Researching Lily's blood protection again since it might've influenced Harry's survival — maybe, but probably not.

Researching other forms of magic that could allow Hary to survive, because this kid already evaded him twice and he wants to cover all his bases — honestly, he might've.

Researching the killing curse and potential alternatives for the same reason as above — if he did this he never found alternatives he liked.

Spoilers for Fallout 4, both plot side lore and companion lore.

I really dislike Piper. Her introduction and her general demeanor -plus the stupid Blue nickname- give off vibes of Bethesda wanting players to like her and doesn’t really lend to a -to me- organic fondness for them.

But that isn’t my main issue.

Mmm main issue is a massive distaste for Publick Occurences, her reporting style, her stirring up paranoia and indirectly serving to get a man killed. The first introduction we have is learning the mayor of Diamond city -who for the record IS an asshole and detailed below arguably a stopped clock case of being correct- kicked her out for stirring the pot and making false accusations towards him. Now, on the surface is painted to make the player sympathetic to Piper because I mean, freedom of the press is p unambiguous and I agree with that.

But if you actually read the Synthetic Truth article, it in essence describes and interviews a massacre that occurred in Diamond City when a synth about 60 years prior went haywire and shot up the place. The context for this? An indirect but undeniable accusation McDonough -the mayor- is a Synth, not just by the framing of what made her write the story but by describing McDonough’s actions that day very robotically and even saying he sat in the same seat the synth sat in prior to the attack.

Is this just framing? Sure. Is it possible Piper didn’t mean it? No. She very clearly thinks McDonough’s not who he says he is and used the article to stoke paranoia.

Furthermore. When you finish the game in any ending that isn’t the Institute’s, you’ll have a quest that in essence reveals that *yes* McDonough is a synth. He was working for the institute the entire time. Piper was right. The paranoia fermented is correct.

I hate this.

frankly I always thought the fact Piper in my eyes at least could be seen as responsible for the paranoia due to her paper was bullshit and made me dislike her as soon as I finally read the article. And the worst part?

There’s an encounter at some point after you arrive at Diamond city where two brothers are arguing, one has a gun pointed at the other, threatening to kill him. The brother holding the gun is inevitably shot down by the guards and his brother is left to mourn.

Neither men are synths. The one threatening the other was provoked by paranoia. Perhaps because he’d been led to believe his brother was acting differently, perhaps he didn’t remember something right, maybe he sat in the wrong stool and ate noodles too perfectly.

But honestly, it all boils down to the fact the commonwealth’s cities are paranoid. But Diamond city, in my eyes, feels the most paranoid. It has a trader who discriminated against even suspected synths, guards openly talk about thinking people they knew were synths, Nick Valentine apparently gets plenty of bigoted remarks from the citizenry…

And the only paper in town stokes that paranoia.

Like. Aaa. There’s an interesting discussion that the game just doesn’t get into honestly. I really want to see how Piper would react to a friend questioning their tactics in journalism over a presumed enemy. But unfortunately the writers didn’t want to see it through.

I've gone through the entire ST4 score about 5 times, and im not sure this is the right track for when mike and el talk before argyle comes in with the pineapple pizza, but the track name really stands out so I though I'd share my theory and ask about your opinion. imo its probably the closest sounding track but I'm also running on 30 hours of no sleep and I'll admit, it feels like a bit of a stretch.

anyways, i'll get into it. there is a few parts but I think its a good one or at least thought provoking.

-so, the closest track imo, and also the only one with a name that references the pizza place is "Surf that Tasty Pie". if you're familiar with "The First I love You" and others, you'll know capitalisation is ~interesting~. there's a few track names that only capitalise the first word, so the choice of capitalising "Tasty Pie" means it must be significant. - also, if you apply grammar rules, its means "Tasty Pie" is a place, person or acronym. doesn't seem like a place, and its certainly not an acronym, so it must be a person.

-after this track plays, argyle comes in and breaks up the moment mike and el are having (conversation about their fight and neither look happy to be talking about this) the track is stopped by argyle throwing a pineapple pizza onto the table. mike is offended immediately. he is also very adamant that fruit on a pizza is *blasphemous*.. interesting choice of words. fruit, and being called fruity, has been a common slang term for gay people, and blasphemy has connections to doing things that are disrespectful to God.. you know what would have been considered very *blasphemous* in the 1980's? being gay. argyle's phrase of "try before you deny" on the phone call following the mention of the pineapple they have in store earlier in the season and el's repetition of argyle's statement and determination to make mike see that fruit on pizza is okay, not blasphemous, may not be as pointless as we once first though.

now the part that seems the easiest to explain

-pizza = pie. the "Pie" or pizza that arrives in shot when the track is stopped is a fruity pizza. two out of three of the people at this table agree that this pizza is tasty. what else do we know is fruity? will ! (also his coded conversation with Jonathan happens less than 3 minutes of the pizza coming out)

probably the most convoluted was of showing that mike is being encouraged to "Surf that Tasty Pie", or in not so cryptic messaging - go for will. essentially, its okay to be fruity and go for fruity things. this works oddly well with the idea that mike has internalised homophobia, as it's his friends helping him realise that being queer is okay, unlike his parents where, presumably, he gets the blasphemy sentiments - I know anyone can be homophobic but the wheelers did canonically (iirc) have a Reagan sign for the 1984 election sooo..

some of this feels like a joke, but there's some that is really interesting how it falls into place - also !! im not claiming the pizza = fruity theory, I've seen it floating around but not sure where the credit is due, unfortunately. the fact that theres a track with this name did add to my belief that maybe this scene had more to it than face value. anyways, thank you for reading, and if you made it this far, I'm so sorry for what I put you through haha

I'm running to listen to this and see if it fits! I think the song that plays is a mix of some of the scores but this theory is very interesting!! If it's true that they really pay this much attention to details this could be an inside joke between them!! Thank you!!! 👏👏

Another long ask 😅 Do you have any thoughts on how Marissa and Alex's relationship (+Ryan's involvement) should've been like? Like obviously Ryan was gonna be in the picture and the one she had a superior connection with overall but what if MA were given time and space to breathe and how it would've looked like with RM's dynamic.

I do feel like the whole discussion around Marissa's sexuality had to be different. It was mostly just fetishizing (Seth) and invalidating (the whole phase talk with Julie- AND Kirsten who's supposed to be the supportive open-minded mom). Yeah it's a product of the time but it's also a product of homophobia (or specifically lesbophobia, with the male gaze thing).

I don't remember her ever finding any of the "gay" jokes funny (like Seth's jokes about Luke for shaving his chest) but she also knew Luke used gay and queer as insults at both Ryan and Seth but didn’t exactly say anything even though she was uncomfortable. I also find it interesting when in Season 3 Volchok makes a comment about something (prom? I can't remember rn) being gay in a derogatory manner and Marissa doesn’t look too comfortable but she also doesn’t say anything about it specifically. I guess what I'm trying to say is Marissa has had to see a lot of casual (and not eo casual) homophobia growing up AND after her realization/coming out but didn’t stand up to it for understandable reasons and that would've been an interesting thing to explore.

I'm in the middle of my s2 rewatch (specifically the MA storyline) so it's interesting you bring it up. I think, first off, that it was never in the cards for Marissa's sexuality to veer off course but I'm really glad it did. The MA arc is mostly done so well so credit where credit's due, but this isn't a show that was mapped out from the beginning. So it can't be tracked in s1 with her facial cues or anything. I do think there's an annoyance but passivity with Luke's bullshit comments that come from being a teen in the 2000s and also living in this conservative, isolated community (that is extremely pulled back in s2 so we don't get that kind of social commentary again, unfortunately). She calls Luke out but only to a certain extent. I think shit like that was just so commonplace in 2003 and especially in an insulated community such as that. 112 really touches on how big of an ~event~ it is that Luke's dad is gay.

Seth's homophobia and biphobia in 209 really tick me off, as does Kirsten's attitude in 214. Kirsten for the reasons you mention and Seth in particular because his schtick is supposed to be seen as funny and it just comes off horrendously offensive now. (As do AB's comments in the press at the time. Basically it seems all the men behind the scenes were getting their rocks off watching the 214 MA kiss.)

As for KV I think his casual homophobic comment and her specific reaction is more her feeling disillusioned with this guy she's choosing to spend time with than a deliberate nod to her identity. But of course it makes no sense that she goes back to him at the end of 322 after realizing she wants more for herself. That whole arc is designed to isolate and punish Marissa/Mischa from everyone else, though, so should be taken with a grain of salt.

I think, considering all the casual homophobia Marissa did in fact hear and see growing up, all that we see when she's 16 at least, it doesn't seem like that's impacted her all that much when it comes to exploring her feelings for Alex. But s2 gives her character so little to do beyond being angry/sad/aggrieved with Julie that it's hard to believe the writers were taking much of her history into context. Marissa's scene with Summer in 211 where she does some thinking about what it means to "graze noses" with someone you never would've guessed you'd want to graze noses with is done well, though.

If MA had been given a longer arc I would've liked to see Marissa move back home while staying in the relationship with Alex and seeing how that works afterward. Pushing that kind of dynamic on them so soon was their kiss of death, but so was making Ryan single again. It would've been cute to see Ryan do the pining a bit longer considering she pined for him until meeting Alex. I think the general framework of 'Marissa feels the emotional, historical pull to Ryan' thing is accurate to her character but it should've been stretched out to at least four or five episodes. Not two!

I'm the anon who ripped on the Damnation outfit, but hear me out for a second. Face and hair wise, it's one of his best designs and it's because I think he looks like shit (which I'm sure was NOT what they were going for).

Leon looks not only miserable, but like he hasn't properly showered or groomed in a while, at least in a few days but that ironically WORKED and it worked brilliantly.

Damnation had an idea for Leon, even though it couldn't be fully fleshed out. It's the first time we see him jaded (listen, Degeneration does not count), drinking on the job and sick to absolute shit with the higher ups. It's the first real look into a spiral. They couldn't fully explore this and it unfortunately got a little knocked out of place due to (just my opinion) the shoehorned Aeon content and no longer being handled in an interesting way in RE6, but all of that is irrelevant. but no i have said repeatedly that i think damnation has some of the best ideas in it. that movie is unironically great and would still hold up as the best RE CGI movie if only leon wasn't so fucking annoying in it. if his personality in damnation was more like his personality in RE6, that movie would be fucking S-tier.

and i do sincerely think that damnation was the point of reference that capcom used to resuscitate and reboot his character following their RE6 post-mortem. not in terms of his actual character voice and spoken lines, but in terms of the anger and survivor's guilt he has in that movie and his complete and total disillusionment with the government and how his job leads him to drink.

and i've said this before too, but damnation also has the best dynamic between leon and ada in OG period. the whole "lol coyly insinuate we had sex off screen" shit was cringe, but in terms of their actual dynamic and how they play off of each other, ESPECIALLY in the lab, is genuinely enjoyable -- because damnation allowed ada to, at least somewhat, do her own thing and just sort of crash into leon accidentally instead of entangling herself in his bullshit.

So who are the best villains you've dealt with in your webcomic riffs?

This is really difficult to narrow it down, but I was able to make a Top 5.

5. Captain Alberta (Spinnerette)

I shit you not I was originally going to put Colonel Glass here. While he had the exact same flaws as The Infernomancer, he still had some aspects of personality and he was probably the only villain that was treated seriously by the comic...but then I remembered Captain Alberta existed.

He isn't exactly the deepest villain ever. He is a bigoted former member of Canadian Superheroes, who holds power over water. When he's fired from the Superfucks, he makes them all drink hate plague water but Spinny is immune to it due to bullshit powers. Then everyone runs into him in a bar and beats him up. Then after lengthy absense he returns. Before his return he was more of a sore loser, but by his return, he has turned into a paid mercenary who has mastered his element. In a comic full of villains that are either bland, forgettable, idiotic, gimmicky or "not villain enough to qualify as a villain", Alberta stands out as an entertaining villain who actually learns from his each loss, and all of his schemes do actually have a self-centered motivation, whether it's earning a payday or getting revenge for his firing.

4. Miguel Sanchez/Godsmite (Warmage)

Even something as bad as Warmage had a memorable villain, Miguel Sanchez was both the first and last villain the comic had. He started off as an anti-christian strawman who was secretly working for a cigar-smoking supervillain in the shadows, but after being beheaded he was somehow brought back and he stole Warmage's original armor and not only killed Warmage's childhood hero but also a bunch of rapists. Just about every villain in this comic had been one and done deal, Bittersweet or a bunch of confusing androids, but Miguel tried to actually ruin Warmage's life, and he didn't actually stop being religious once he became a supervillain, which of course led to a stupid argument between him and Warmage in one of the last pages of the comic. Much like Alberta, Miguel stands out in a crowd of otherwise bland villains due to his gimmick and his motivations.

3. Saign (Alien Dice)

I think Saign AKA Little Girl qualifies as a villain because every other character treated her like a villain. When you compare her to every other antagonist in the comic (I'm sensing a pattern here), she is much better because not only isn't she a villain who wants to kill Lexx for no reason, she actually wants to adopt Lexx into her group, which includes Lexx's old friend Adaciu. Saign is a villain because she believes solo players can't survive in the wild, and according to Riley she seems to carry a grudge against Lexx. What that grudge is we never find out because this whole scene is as confusing and unexplained as it gets. That being said I do miss her and feel like she should have been used more. Even when Adaciu loses, she treats him well when Adaciu thought she will abuse him for losing. Saign is a case of huge lost potential, quite possibly one of the few truly complex villains in this blog.

2. Karastropov (Kit n Kay Boodle)

Sometimes you want complex villains with a ton of dimension and a tragic backstory, sometimes you just want a villain who has a cool gimmick and design. Karastropov is latter. He is the PERFECT villain for a comic like Kit n Kay Boodle, a bodysnatching god who hates all lewdness in the world. He almost feels like The Hosts if they were actually treated as the horror they deserved to be treated. Karastropov could take over anyone's body, but he suits best in the bodies of beings who want a lot of power. However the bodies that disobey him will be tortured and even killed. Karastropov is the biggest treat to the world of KnKB, but unfortunately much like Matt he is powerless even with Gods of Yiff dead, because all the beings he possesses eventually end up abandoing their libido. Another interesting thing about Karastropov is that he wasn't created for KnKB, he also appeared in Gene Catlow sidecomic. Just who created him, and what other comics are out there where he appears? Something tells me we will see the ol' Purple-Eyes again when we least expect it.

1. Celesto Morgan (Dominic Deegan)

Celesto is the best villain in this blog, because not only is he right anytime he critiques our hero, he is also pretty damn cool. Celesto is like Matt, but unlike Matt, the world isn't against him, and he also does way more morally corrupt things. He mainly shows up to kill anyone he despises, but he is also willing to work with Dominic because much like Matt he is aware Dominic's powers could help his own goals. While Storm of Souls was probably his peak as a character, he never abandoned his dislike of Dominic, or his position of "Champion of the Oppressed", but he seems to do more than just sit around and whine. I really hope Celesto doesn't get ruined like Jacob did once we get back to riffing the comic. Also he FUCKS.

I wanted to add that this situation even after everything that’s has occurred is still 100% salvageable.

Meaning Chris can make a huge comeback but this situation MUST end expeditiously.

When Chris is still offline, they can announce a breakup, don’t blame the freaking fans but make up some excuse and then boom he’s publicly single. Mind you due to the bs articles the last few days, I’m sure the general public will blame fans. We’ll get over it as long as this is the last bs he ends up in.

Next Chris needs to seek personal therapy as to why he ended up in this situation and to learn some self awareness, everyone isn’t the problem…..it’s him and his actions/inactions and choices.

As a fandom we know he runs when things get to hard and just like clockwork people were expecting him to post something on her birthday…..he ran. Umineko EP7. Replay Tea Party and ???

Lion and Ange discuss the situation a bit and eventually figure out they are from different worlds and Lion kind of explains, Ange realizes some witch is fucking with her yet again and she sounds extremely tired of all this bullshit. Yeah.... you totally have.

Lion convinces themselves that the reason they are there is to teach Ange about the truth, Ange starts asking about the Game Master but obviously, there's no author for this tale.... Words Eva will probably regret for the rest of her life, aaa.... The fact they discussed how to split the gold if found is unfortunate too, since that means they had more incentive to work together....

Everytime George and Shannon talk about the future with children and what not Shannon always just gives this... extreme like. yeah that would be cool hahah but... vibe. And George doesn't seem interested about following up on that. I hate you Battler I hate you.

Shannon's words hitting like a stab in the back haha.... I mean she wishes that were true. Would have been fully true if Battler came back just a year later....

Everyone finds the gold and gets blinded by it, they look so giddy and happy about how all their problems will be fixed. Lion believes in the miracle but Ange knows stuff is going to happen. She sounds so dead inside and ready to die here.... really drives the point home this whole plan was more the last stand of a suicidal person with a bomb more than anything else....

The solution to Battler being very confused about the epitaph meaning nothing and yet everything to Beatrice... Once the epitaph is solved Sayo kills Beatrice and any hope of being understood with her.

The family starts arguing with each other about the gold... Eva starts arguing the money should be split evenly, Krauss argues back.... it's so stupid to argue this. Any split in the money amount would make them richer than they ever thought possible. But if you told a bunch of people who hate and don't trust each other that they should split the money evenly and give them a bunch of guns this isn't really a farfetched result.... "This tale is clearly filled with ill will towards us." Hahahah I wish that were the case Lion...

The murder doesn't really start as an intentional murder between siblings... they start getting physical in their fight and when there are guns around it's really easy for the fight to escalate, and once Natsuhi and Krauss are dead... Rudolf and Rosa don't really gaf that Natsuhi and Krauss are deadm they are just giddy about being able to use it against Eva, Rosa pushes on blackmailing Eva and Kyrie starts deciding that leaving anyone alive is a liability, which, she isn't really wrong at this point... if more than one person survived I'm sure things would end up extremely fucked up at this point, anyways.

Kyrie and Rudolf realized right away after Natsuhi died the only way for this to end was by killing everyone. They were the only ones who had the mindset to think this through like this, but I don't think there was any other way for it to end than with a bunch of deaths even if Kyrie and Rudolf didn't think about it. The particular desensitization to violence Kyrie has due to having Yakuza background was indeed it ended in *this* massacre specifically but I have no doubt a scuffle would have happened after finding the gold either way. Blaming Kyrie for being especially evil and especially bad is a little pointless, the feuds and animosity run deeper than her. I have always assumed the point of bringing up the test here is hinting at Kyrie being especially involved in Episode 4 - that episode is the one filled with the most blind spots on how everything was going on, other than the general gist of everyone being on it to some extent. This is really weird, but it's not like your uncle would call you out to murder you, is it? Jessica probably thinks this is weird too, since I imagine she at least suspects of Kinzo, but again, even if they don't believe the story told it's not like their minds would jump to murder.

It makes sense when you think about how Eva was missed, she was already alerted of the danger and was probably moving a lot when the shooting happened. There was already so much blood in the room it'd be hard to tell who exactly was shot. They constantly mention how Rudolf's gun shoots low, which explains how both Eva and Sayo were missed. Ange can handle this because she thinks it's just a game, so she's just disgusted by it.

I am going to cry, god damn it, Ange....

Rudolf is saying it in a much more mocking and insincere tone, of course, but he's also saying what Sayo thought to some extent.... if everyone died then she would be forever close with Jessica and George and Battler, and she wouldn't have had to deal with disappointing them, she wouldn't have had to deal with them finding out about her body, about being cousins. She gets to rewrite harsh reality with the Golden Land and everyone is happier that way, it was all just a fantasy that no one would know about a day later. Also, this scene actually makes me feel really bad about George...

The reminder Rudolf is like this because he's already used to using dirty tactics that ruin others for their benefit, and that he's like this in the first place because that's how he got away from Rudolf and Eva's abuse when he was younger is an interesting way to remind us that Rudolf isn't just evil because he's evil, the very environment they all grew up in was evil. "I regret dragging you back into the family..." haha....

Rudolf thinks to himself about how Eva is dumb and going to fall for his tricks and get shot in the head, Eva goes to sob about George's death.... we move to Kyrie and the fact that reality is the one game where Maria can have a really gruesome death makes me sad.... I guess it's not much better than strangulation in ep3, but, it's certainly implied here she was stabbed to death. I can't imagine that Kyrie isn't self-demonizing for Ange's sake here, she isn't stupid, she knows chances are she will die here. If Ange goes back to the Sumadera family she's probably going to be in a bad spot, and her best bet is to have Eva take care of her and the only way that's going to happen is if she deletes the Ange Kyrie relation from her brain. I can't imagine she'd just rattle all this backstory for no reason otherwise.

She even starts grinning once she realizes it worked.

Fuck, Ange....

Ange disappears, being unable to handle the truth and Lion starts arguing with Bernkasteal about how she's Clair's hope and she argues back by showing them Kyrie killing them... We then flashback to all the truths that were hidden by the funeral otherwise. Sayo's cries here are so awful... she's forced to confront she will never have a proper body, and how all her dreams are destroyed, those cries are so hard to hear. It's not hard to think about why Bernkastel hates those that try to hide reality with illusions, consider that's what Takano was also doing in order to keep her grandfather's dreams alive...

Don't give up on being Sayo's one hope, as she has already given up on her own hope entirely....

Will will never stop believing that a happy ending was possible for Beatrice, while also understanding her heart. It's easy for people to say oh why didn't they just do this, they would have been happy. But the reality is a lot harsher, and her struggles weren't that easy. Will believes that her reality is harsh while ALSO thinking there is hope for her.

Featherine starts bragging about how Bernkastel is never going to be free from her.

Bernkastel and Lambdadelta guarantee that she won't give a happy ending, and at the same time Battler is opening the book in order to guarantee Ange's happy ending.

so a friend of mine just got outed to her ultra religious parents by her fucking shitty ex. it really fucking sucks and I so badly want to [redacted] the dude who did it. It especially sucks because like, I befriended this gal maybe a year into transition and she was still closeted/figuring stuff out at the time but would ask me some stuff about transition and I was happy to help. My first "baby trans" of being a woman who was out.

anyways her boyfriend seemed okay on twitter, tbh was always a bit annoying but then again who am I to judge. Our interactions were alright and it was just neat having some moots. Then twitter shat the bed and I made a lil friend server on discord for people I liked. I ended up sending a invite to both cuz they expressed interest and unfortunately the annoying vibes from boyf were correct. Dude would ping her in the server to get him to respond to their dms and say a buncha yikes things. I think he even mentioned being republican or smth which wasnt a hit in the "leftist tranny" discord server. Mostly he made peeps uncomfy but I was hesitant to give the boot to him because of his connection to someone I liked.

Then there was one point where I was in vc with him and baby trans messaged me saying "hey be careful with what you say around him" and then sent me a screenshot after he ended up going on a tirade against her for expressing interest in piercing her nipples at some point

at this point, i basically just stopped interacting with the dude in the server. I still didnt kick cuz I was worried about retaliation but my man was on thin ice, especially because I had just settled into a new place after fleeing a controlling man so I was not pleased with him.

Anyways then I made a joke about being gay in my sapphic tranny server and he was like "Wait, you like MEN????". Honestly, I had never felt like you could hear a pin drop in a digital space before. Anyways yeah I pulled out the boot after that.

Then dude was insistent on vc'ing me to "talk about what happened" and wouldnt stop messaging me trying to set up this call rather than just explain in text. Honestly I got the vibe this was intentional, I've had too many HR meetings to really buy that shit any more. I decided to entertain him just to get him off my back but then he kept pushing me so I eventually said I'll think about it. dude kept pushing and pushing me over text for updates for the next three days where I honestly just fucking ghosted him because of other life shit. Eventually I caved and told him to give me some space because I needed it and he went off about "Do you see how thats better than no response?" and then went on to talk about how "this issue isnt that big in the first place"

At that point I just never talked to him again. I figured his beef was with me and he has no leverage so I'm safe and hopefully baby trans is safe. Anyways fast forward half a year and god damn this girl has blossomed in the presence of other folks helping her through this stuff (if you end up reading this somehow, love you girl 💗). Unfortunately she learns that shitty ex has told ppl she cheated on him and thats why they broke up (girl absolutely has been too timid to pursue anything since, this is 100% a boldfaced lie. But gosh you rly should ask alex out already). She ends up making a very calm post clearing the air about how this isnt the case and she didnt feel safe around him due to the threat of being outed (above). No @'s, no names, just a simple post.

And then her dad gets a text talking about every little thing that could be used against her, from her caffeine addiction (lmfao) to her not rly being christian and eats weed gummies. Oh and, you know, she "wants to identify as a woman and have started taking drugs for hormone replacement therapy". As an aside, the text mentions she's "been dating a man for a year now" and "have sucked a couple of dicks". but who's dick i wonder 🤔. Also she's "never liked women and is attracted to penises" if this werent so fucking awful id be laughing my ass off.

The text ends with "I'd suggest confronting [deadname] about this since they're clearly out of your control and could learn a lesson about insubordination and respect". Not rly being subtle there bud. Anyways, me and my friends have spent all fucking day making sure our gal is safe and has a place to stay and are emotionally supporting her and I'm just so fucking angry. Her entire life has been uprooted, her autonomy violated, her existence endangered because this fucking prick decided he wants to be a petty motherfucker. For the record, she has temporary housing and is safe right now, but she's going to come out of this with such deep scars.

I think the worst part is, is that he's got a lot of trans women friends/mutuals. He was practically bragging about it in my server. Other trans womrn are in danger around this man and his vindictive rage but I dont have the energy to do anything more than try being there for my friend and help her through this. I'm just angry and sad and worried and tired. I hate this man. I hate people like him. I hate the fact that he will more than likely never face any sort of consequences for ruining someone else's life. I hate that society makes him feel comfortable where he is. I fucking hate.

I'm trying so hard to not succumb to hate and become this jaded feral beast but it's just so hard. its so hard seeing everyone i care about in this fucked up world get hurt over and over and over again. It's so hard seeing all this violence and pain and choosing to fight back with love. Every time someone i love is hurt it feels like a chunk of my flesh is taken along with it. a core of my being is robbed because I need to help. i need to be there. i need to counterract the world. but its not enough and itll never be enough and ill just wear myself thinner and thinner each day until all thats left is my bones bleaching in the sun. but what else can i do? the rabid dog gets put down. i just want to be safe and help my friends be safe and i want us all to live.

I could realistically make this fucker fear for his life. Dream Customer (henceforth D.C.) has been back a few times now, and the most recent visit she was in the attraction when another customer fucked up. It's an indoor underwater setup, which is your only identifying info and I WILL be checking you fuckers' search histories, so be good. Anyway, some dumb fuck tried to get into an area they obviously shouldn't have and snagged their hoses. Genius, huh? Unfortunately, we aren't allowed to let fuckheads die with the consequences of their actions, so I had to go sort it out before there was an insurance hassle.

But when I got to him, D.C. was there, stopping him from moving and fucking up his gear any more, AND had managed to hold the tube in place temporarily. Fucking rockstar, she saw what I wanted to do with the emergency mask right away and helped get him untangled so I could pull him out easier. Of course, then I was stuck dealing with the asshole and paperwork on him for the rest of the shift, but I am officially fucking head over heels guys, I cannot deal with this level of competence along with looks and a decent personality. 

But of course, since I don't have any idea who the damned people of interest even are on this fucked up op, I can't actually risk asking her out for a drink, because she might end up being someone we move on! So, we're back to fucking SHIELD in all available configurations.

Glad to hear Lee's follow up procedure went well, but only because it brings me one step closer to escaping this mindfuck of an assignment. Get well soon, or else.

Had some excitement at the attraction, which I really do like and am not just stalking Robin. (More excitement than this so called assignment, I'll tell you that.) 

So it's a caving adventure of sorts (I think there's enough of those not to be accidentally identifying) and the crew gears everyone and makes them demonstrate skills before they go in (that's where I usually see Robin, though sometimes they switch roles around.) But someone ahead of me got tangled up and then made it worse panicking.

I pressed the panic button on the gear and was keeping him from flailing while trying to figure out how someone was gonna get him out without injury (it was in a narrow section) when the whole wall opened up and Robin was right there with an emergency kit.

And okay, I already liked her, even though I didn't know how much was the whole public facing persona, but we've moved up to a whole other level now. She just took charge instantly, gave quick clear directions in a really chaotic situation, and had the guy clipped to an emergency line and out of there in literal seconds. Stone cold professional in what was probably the first crisis at the attraction. I gotta ask her out, this is no longer optional.

Oh, and I put down my money on "morlocks/mole men/other underground uprising" in the new pool, cause I figured it wasn't any less likely than alien invasion but I would be one the only ones on it if it won.

Since your clearance increase from being made a STRIKE Commander has gone through, and having no contacts on this mission is clearly more stressful than we anticipated, I am giving you access to the level three briefing.

To summarize, we have reason to believe that this area could be subject to an extra-human instigated attack in the next three months. To avoid panic or excessive non-SHIELD interest, prestaged assets have been infiltrated rather than stationed in a temporary compound, and it has been presented as a surveillance operation to everyone below command level.

You can therefore consider yourself on standby, and do not need to be any more suspicious than your norm of local humans. (Continue to report suspected extra-humans through the normal channels.)

Late to the party, but I just finished Succession. Holy shit, what an ending. Anyway, I enjoyed going back and reading your takes from when it was still airing. Do you have any other morsels or headcanons to share?

Hey! Thank you so much for writing in with a Succession question!! I love it! And I'm glad you enjoyed my little takes and recaps...I didn't have the time to do full-on recaps for S4 like I did for S3, unfortunately, but I had such a great time watching in real time. I'll truly never forget watching 4.03 with the rest of the internet. I literally thought Logan's death was being faked until they told Shiv.

As for morsels/head-canons, oooh...compared to other viewers I don't have a ton of very specific headcanons about the upbringing/adolescence/early adult-hood of the Roys, beyond the few hints the show dropped. Apparently there was some debate early on about how far apart in age Kendall, Roman, and Shiv are (as well as whether Shiv or Roman was older, before the show confirmed Shiv as the youngest in S3)...I always assumed they were supposed to be quite close in age, five years max between Kendall and Shiv. The show itself is a bit blurry on the specifics of the backstory/everyone's timeline, though. I also wished we got more of the relationship between Logan and Caroline...we actually never (or barely) see them interact directly, and yet they seem to loom so large in each other's lives.

As for interpretative morsels...I actually haven't gone back and watched the finale again (if you can believe it) because it was soo good and devastating I literally haven't been able to work up the emotional fortitude. There was a great take here I saw that the finale didn't leave you with the same SHEER ADRENALINE RUSH of the other finales, which I will agree with but ultimately I think it fits with the show's overarching thesis that "everything is bullshit, especially billionaires." There's nothing about the finale I feel that will keep being re-litigated by fans (à la Veep)...there seemed to be some discourse about Shiv's ending and whether or not it fit with her character's arc (I think it does, but would love to hear your take!)

I will say that I was always interested in the decision to have Logan take up with Kerry in S3...I love the character of Marcia so much that the rise of Kerry was like a personal affront to me, lol, but I was also intrigued by how Marcia didn't seem threatened by Kerry the way she was by Rhea (or even Shiv). And it's also a relationship that Logan seems very passive about, and we never really hear his own take on it (except when he chickens out re: Kerry's audition tape for ATN). All the "facts" about what they do come from Kerry (or from other people, like Connor with the smoothie revelation). Like obviously, he seems fond of Kerry and is attracted to her (although I don't believe he was actually considering divorcing Marcia, not when he has literally just had to pay her a ridiculous amount of money to stick around in S3), but we don't see anything to indicate why he's okay letting her take on such an outsized role in the management of the business. (I also thought Brian Cox adopted an almost...fatherly air around the actress, which I guess would make sense due to the age difference...it wasn't like they had blazing sexual chemistry!) Is Kerry a symptom of Logan's growing passivity as he ages? A sign that he's getting old and predictable? Are we supposed to take away something about Kerry's naivëté, that she pins all her professional and personal hopes on an aging billionaire in ill health? Is she a parable in that sense? It's fitting for Succession, though, that a lot of the "intimacy" of the "romantic" relationships on the show take place offscreen, so in that sense I think the mystery is a bit purposeful. And the writers were always interested in "inverting" clichés to a certain degree (ie, the CEO having an affair with his much younger assistant)...but I guess I'm not sure how they inverted it in this instance, other than the incredibly ruthless way Kerry gets excised from the inner circle (a scene which will live in infamy!) as opposed to continuing the drama of their relationship after Logan's death.

That's one of the first things that comes to mind when I think about S4, but I'm sure there are many others, and would love to hear your specific thoughts about the season! My favorite episodes were, personally, 4.03 (Connor's Wedding), 4.04 (Honeymoon States--my pick for funniest episode of the season), and 4.09 (Church and State). My favorite season finale is probably S3, All the Bells Say...I think S2 is probably a tighter episode narratively, but my god, the emotional devastation of the S3 finale. You simply can't beat it!

i'll put my answers below the cut! i wanted to give thorough answers to your questions but as a result, i ended up writing a lot for the first one. that's honestly very typical of me - i am a wordy person! so sorry about that and hope you enjoy <3

13. which driver do you like the most: pierre gasly or esteban ocon?

i have to go with esteban because i adore that stringbean <3. i think i've said this before but i have to thank you for introducing me to the glory of esteban. not only did i learn to love a ratboy whose equal parts the ultimate dork and an absolute menace who angers entire countries for simply existing, i gained so many lovely online friends because of it.

when it comes to pierre, i honestly like him a lot and i think he's a very talented driver. i love that pierre tends to wear his heart on his sleeve and is very open with his emotions. i love that pierre appears to be someone who loves fiercely - he seems like a wonderful and loyal friend. not to mention he's a fellow aquarius! i have a number of absolutely lovely and kind mutuals that are pierre fans and seeing their pierre posts make me smile.

unfortunately, some of the cruelest people i've encountered on f1blr (who i won't name and have blocked) were certain pierre blogs. to be clear, these were blogs who viciously insulted alex's mom because they felt alex was insulting pierre when he was actually just defending himself - that is toxic behavior that i'm not okay with. it wasn't about them making fun of drivers i like - i make fun of the drivers i like! as a result of those people, sometimes i find myself annoyed with pierre. except it's really not pierre that i'm annoyed with but the fans of his who use what he says to belittle esteban's abilites and character time and time again.

for example, i was a little irritated with some of pierre's comments where he implies that he got a poor result because the team favored esteban (e.g. japan, abu dhabi) while never acknowledging when the opposite happens (e.g. australia, netherlands) or the unusual circumstances that led to the decision that appeared to benefit esteban (e.g. las vegas). in all honesty, this is something that every driver does due to post-race frustration and it's never actually a big deal and it blows over after a few days. the problem is that pierre's comments (like fernando's or checo's or max's) are used to fuel the bullshit narratives of 'esteban is a shitty teammate' and 'no one on the grid likes esteban' that i am so sick and tired of.

24. underrated ship you like?

i can't believe bono/lewis is as underrated as it is! i love the endless support and affection that those two have for each other. i love that they've experienced the ultimate highs together and now they're currently fighting the lowest lows together. i love that lewis, who has spoken openly about feeling alone in the sport, has someone that he knows will always have his back.

66. if you had to add a track in a country of your choice, which country would it be?

as long as it's safe for the drivers to compete, the construction of the track is ethical, and it's not a burden on the nation, i would love to have a race in egypt! i think that f1 should definitely have more races in africa and the history of egypt is so interesting. in an ideal scenario, i think a night race near the pyramids would be stunning!
