strictly forbidden, a corrupted being that speaks with and summons the dead. often practiced by sorcerers to feign power. fae who’ve tried most often have perished. noted is the rotting of their hands, melting of their skin, the monstrous corruption eating away at their souls.
there holds a difference between one who practices necromancy, and the necromancer.
the necromancer cannot perish, and each death faced is temporary. each death only increases their power over time. extends their bridge in the gap.
their skin does not rot. yet the corruption is visible.
the necromancer not only speaks to the dead, she controls them. corrupts them. they become her servants. should she gain access to a large collection of corpses, the fear she could instill is best not discussed. do not let this form of fae near any form of fungi. their connection to nature does not sever, but a connection to something that can spread and corrupt can endanger others.
the only fae known capable of practicing necromancy are the unseelie.
if an unseelie and seelie were able to create a hybrid, the destruction she could cause concerns the council.
if a hybrid came in contact with a sorcerer, and bred a halfling, it could symbolize far greater destruction than we could decipher.
strength and weaknesses presently unknown to the council.
I think a lot about this painting that was, presumably, given to Fernando at the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix, which there is just zero explanation for it, other than these pics:
Where is it now????? It better be hanging up in a place of honor in one of his houses istg!
But what makes this better is that after he crashed out from that race, he tweeted a samurai quote 😭 I like to imagine him just nonsensically mumbling samurai quotes while staring at this painting in despair
this is actually the first time i'm posting him on tumblr actually. the most i've done beyond that is vaguely mention him in my notes. his name is Ruce, and he's an alligator (the G tattoo on his arm stands for Gator). and of course he's got a mohawk. can't be my character without one <- lying
i made him in like.... 2018 or so i think? Boe was actually made after Ruce was created now that i think about it. that said, i don't have a middle or last name for him like i do with Boe though. someday that'll change
What stuff would you most like asks about and/or who’d you most like asks for?
I honestly am Not picky about the asks I get! I love having an opportunity to talk about or for my characters, and it's easier to list what I DON'T enjoy writing for: delving into sexual stuff, having my OCs mocked or having their struggles/etc made into a joke, or in-depth worldbuilding type stuff (i just dont do much of that and have little to say for it). (the only exception may or may not be coming soon. im very. whats the word. i hold what little i created for this world very close to my chest because of unsavory past experiences. so idk if i WILL share my fleet stuff here yet or not..)
I've told some of my friends this already, but seldom do I get any asks and so almost EVERYTHING yall see on my blog are months or even years old. (I am VERY grateful to the people who Have gone out of their way to send me stuff before :’3) I take a while to answer cos I hold onto asks and quite literally ration them out so I can have Something to write for at least once a month askdjhdhdh
That being said I'm happy with anything (so long as they arent the above mentioned stuff). Some characters will lie, some characters will skirt around a subject, but most anything you want to know about my characters and the plots + stories theyre involved in Can be found out through asks. I try REALLY HARD not to put everything about a character on their page but. I get a lil excited to talk abt them lol. Ask them their fave color, their fave music genre, their hobbies, their fears, prod them on sensitive subjects, go wild honestly. Hell you can even just Greet Them TBH
EDIT: FORGOT TO ANSWER THE REST OF THIS UHHH. For WHO is rlly hard cos um. Essentially i get so few that I’d love asks for ALL my trolls at some point. But right now I’d love to be able to use Opal, Kieulo, Geniva, Viserys, Cyrell and Samael’s sprites more. ESPECIALLY the first two.
btw im still thinking about canary in a coal mine + rancher duo and jimmy is the canary (the first to die, the warning shot) and tango is the coal mine (killed the canary). this is the only thing getting me to tomorrow
There is a certain level of absurdity that Hallima's life has reached when meeting the Gods Themselves ranks as only in the top five strangest things that has happened to them.
It's strange and awkward and feels like hearth and home in a myriad of ways. They are kind and distant and ephemeral. Hallima doesn't know how to feel about them, so they don't think about it, instead treading moment to moment as needed. It works, mostly.
There is one in particular though, where the feeling is more confused than the rest.
When Hallima was still very young, newly stumbled into the borders of Gridania, some local witch or seer had paused walking by him on the road, staring at him with a thoughtful gaze. Hallima hadn't thought much of it, glaring back with fists clenched- he knew he looked strange, covered in hard scales and tattered rags. This was nothing new.
"You are a long way from home, child." The seer had spoken, voice measured and even. Hallima said nothing. There was nothing to say.
After a long moment the seer's companions had called out to them, realising they had fallen behind, and they sighed softly. They reached into their robes and pull out a small packet which they hold out to Hallima.
Hallima doesn't take it, stepping back mistrustfully.
(how old had they been then? Barely past the Hyur seer's kneecaps.)
"Just some food. I have nothing else to offer I'm afraid. Fury guide you, child."
"Fury?" It's the first thing Hallima has said to the seer. Or anyone in a very long time.
"Your Guardian God." The seer smiles just a little. "Halone the Fury. It's a little gift I have, to see these things."
Later through much observation and eavesdropping Hallima would learn that Halone was the Goddess of Ice and War, benefactor of the benevolent and faithful.
It never quite sat right with Hallima. They never liked the cold.
(They never did talk about it with Sidurgu, but they don't really have to. They've settled into a comfortable balance of irrelevant truths that lay by the wayside of their brotherhood.)
(They do talk about it with Aymeric, the blur of half-remembered memories and suspicions and the weight of Ishgard's sins. It's a rough conversation, but they do feel better afterwards.)
And then Hallima meets Halone herself, and all of it comes rushing back.
They know that the Gods do not intervene in the lives of mortals. The things done in Their names were not necessarily by their will. This does not stop some bitter part of Hallima's heart (one that sounds suspiciously like Esteem) from laying some blame at the feet of the Goddess for what could have been.
The Gods call on Hallima to talk, and always the obediant puppet, Hallima goes.
(Too far, Esteem)
They approach Halone, and Halone smiles at first, greeting them with aplomb. Then her smile falls, taking in the expression of the Au Ra below.
(Hallima isn't used to feeling so small. It's purely because of her sheer size of course, and any chill they feel in their fingers merely the result of a phantom wind.)
"We have said before that we do not interfere in the lives of mortals. We love them, and we are shaped by their faith, but to exact our will upon them is not our wont."
She floats lower then, coming to kneel before Hallima, bringing her as close to eye-level are her size would permit.
"Our pantheon offers guidance to the lost, and we hear their prayers. We cannot act, but we always listen."
"Were you listening then?" Hallima hears themself speak as if through a fog.
"I was." She nods, her voice quiet and solemn. "They wished for victory, to bring hope and peace to their families who awaited them."
"Just them?"
Halone releases her spear, which floats gently at her side, and touches Hallima's cheek with two fingers. Soft though her appearance seems, Hallima can feel the thick callouses on them.
"Nay. I heard yours too. For safety and home."
They don't ask why she hadn't answered. That answer has already been given.
"I cannot act on the will's of our faithful, but I do regret that my name was invoked to put such pain upon you, my child." She says, and she sounds genuinely remorseful.
"I don't know if I would call myself one of your faithful."
"And such is your path to walk." The smile returns to Her face. "One I would not have any other way. A Guardian God is one given by birth, but the one you choose is yours alone, and all the more important for it. Do not feel tethered to me for such circumstances, bitter as they are. Like all my brethren, we wish for our dear children's happiness, in whatever form it may take."
Something lifts from Hallima's heart, a weight they hadn't realised they had been carrying.
i'm so confused rn, can you explain the goncharov thing?? i get off tumblr for five minutes
(Edits closed as of 28 Nov.)
Lmaoooo
Nah I getchu. So this post has been circulating for like two years:
Link to post.
But yesterday, it had inspired someone to do this:
Link to post.
Next thing I knew there were fake Letterboxed reviews.
Goncharov moodboards. Really good ones.
Link to post.
Meta analysis. So many fake meta essays. Disturbingly good ones. And of course the memes. (Edit: HAVE I SAID THIS SHIT IS DISTURBING)
As you can see, the myth just started to grow, characters and ships and tropes being added one after the other, almost bizzarely without contradiction, until there was enough of shape to the whole thing for people to start posting fanfic about it on AO3. "No beta we die like ice-pick Joe" is already a tag.
Link to post.
It was hilarious in the beginning, but the way it's developed within less than a day, kind of like it's being willed into existence, is freaking me out a bit. We're toying with powers beyond our comprehension. 😂😂😂
Link to post.
Of course, there could be an ulterior motive as well.
Link to post (tags mine).
Edit: guys, please tag these posts "unreality" so people with disassociation issues can filter them out (not this one, this is an explainer). <3
----------------------------------------------
Edit 2: Aparently the boots in the original post are actually referring to a movie called Gomorrah that came out in 2008, directed by Mateo Garrone, based on the Scampia Feud. And other people had also been making posts about the fake movie for a while before the poster took off.
found by @thepotch
Edit 3: Explainer: why did those boots have this movie on them anyway?
Edit 4: Alt text added to all images courtesy of @valentineish ❤️
Edit 5: Turns out tumblr has done this kind of thing before. Nine years in this hell place and I had to have "Squiddles" and penis smp explained in the replies.
Edit 6: This post collects the Lore so far.
Edit 7: Lynda Carter (real one)/ earns more/ Tumblr cred.
Edit 8: Holy shit y'all we have the theme music. With sheet music. And it's on Spotify!
Edit 9: THERE IS A TRAILER WITH THE THEME MUSIC
----------------------------------------------
I made this post 18 hours after the movie poster went up. Closed edits 27 hours after first posting. So all of the above happened within 45 hours of the movie poster going up.
Edit 10: Google document live-compiling all the lore so far (Day 3)
Edit 11: Masterpost of Goncharov soundtracks (Day 3)
Edit 12: Entertainment news articles covering the Gonch-posting (real) (Contd from yday)
Edit 13: The music from the masterpost all compiled into a 31-minute original score with video edits on YouTube (edit: unfortunately taken down)
Edit 14: Staff's Goncharov art showcase for Tumblr Tuesday
As of closing on Day 3 there are 371 works in the AO3 tag.
-----
Updating with Day 3 shenanigans I missed yesterday:
Edit 15: Goncharov TV Tropes page
Edit 16: Ethics of Gonchposting
Important PSA 1 (how to reduce harm to Tumblr's neurodivergents)
Important PSA 2 (reality affirmation, anti-bullying)
Important PSA 3 (why you should stop trying to vandalise legit information sites)
Edit 17: Character lore from beezlebub whose poster they originated from
Edit 18: What we know about/ Director Matteo JWHJ0715 (#unreality)
Edit 19: Link to post with screenshotted and described NYT article (scroll down) and this golden exerpt from BuzzFeed: 💀
(alt text included)
End of Day 4 there are now 485 works in the Goncharov tag on AO3
----
Didn't get to update this on Day 5, so these are the Day 5 doings:
More trailers!
Trailer 1 (My favourite)
Trailer 2
Trailer 3
Trailer 4
I also just found out about the Goncharov Game Jam.
It appears this opened a day after after the meme took off.
Goncharov was first entered into Wikipedia between Day 4 and 5 (attempts to vandalise it with fake info don't count, incidentally – please knock that shit off) under List of Internet Phenomena. This was then expanded into its own Wikipedia page at the end of Day 5 because, according to the talk history: "the topic now meets the notability threshold for its own artice due to significant coverage in The New York Times and other sources cited." We're on Wikipedia, people!
And then we made The Guardian half a day later. So while the meme is definitely dying down to embers by now, it still stays winning.
YouTube channels with episodes on the meme:
InformOverlord (4:30)
Lessons in Meme Culture (2:43)
End of Day of 5 there were 511 works on AO3, and End of Day 6 (today) there are 556.

🚨BREAKING 🚨 from Martin Scorsese's daughter's TikTok (real actual)
tw: unreality:
We did it you guys!
Clarification: Francesca Scorcese asked her Dad about the meme and Martin played along. Please reblog this PSA to help Tumblr people with psychosis. Thanks.
Final edit: Day 8. Media reactions to Scorcese's TikTok (everyone from Forbes to Vulture). That one Tumblr user who said they'd do a screenplay if their post got notes has promised to shoot a single scene, but please don't be dicks just because you reblogged it; leave them alone until they get around to it themselves. As of end of Day 8 there are 609 works in the AO3 tag. I love all you lunatics. Peace! ❤️
behold vonrier nolastnameyet, a knowledge domain cleric, my tav i made knowing very little about dnd or forgotten realms lore! spends his days traveling across the underdark doing general kelemvor cleric stuff and got abducted by fucking mind flayers of all things on one of his very rare trips to the surface, so he's just never going to the surface again after he gets this bullshit sorted.
ok but I have Thoughts about the way Minecraft usernames translate to actual names, both irl and in fanfic. They’re definitely ‘obsessed with structure and grumpy at inconsistency flavor autism’ thoughts but still. I find it weird how we cut and paste the media we’re given to fit what we view as functional worldbuilding, and how that gets screwy when translating online names.
like, you’re working with several categories here. The person’s actual real name, their irl nickname, their gamer tag, a name possibly contained by or possibly the entirety of that gamer tag, and any extra pieces or symbols in the gamer tag. And you have the weird situation where those categories might not easily translate to a ‘First Name Last Name’ structure.
For an example, we’ve got Phil Watson, who’s gamer tag is ‘Ph1LzA,’ and is called Philza Minecraft or Philza. The ‘Minecraft last name’ is a…. Bit? A joke? A reference to a bit of lore? It’s unclear. The ‘Za’ bit was put there for flair and is now an integral part of his name. Sometimes it’s his last name. Sometimes his real last name is chucked in there. the 1 in his actual username is literally never referenced in nicknames or fic it’s like it’s not even there.
But that’s a simple one. What about Tubbo_? because we call him Tubbo Underscore. Like. We say the ‘_’ aloud. Why do we do that. What has possessed us to make that decision? What about FitMC? I’ve usually heard it said Fit Emsee.’ Why say that, and not say ‘Minecraft? That’s not even really a last name, it’s just like…. His full first name. Fit is used more like a shortened nickname.
BadBoyHalo. Like. ‘Bad boy’ is a slang term, not a name. It would make the most sense to call him Halo, that’s the distinct noun in the name, the term the ‘bad boy’ bit is referring to. Like ‘GoodTimesWithScar’ but noooo. Bad. Halo is usually a last name, if it’s there at all. Skeppy on the other hand is… just his name. No last name ever.
Technoblade is also weird. Technoblade is his full name. We call him that. We ALSO call him ‘Techno,’ and use Blade as a last name. We also use Blade as a title. What the heck.
GeminiTay. We call her Gem. We use Tay as a last name sometimes. Her name is a Zodiac constellation. Literally nowhere I’m have I seen that affect her naming conventions.
IJevin. We just… remove the I. For everything. This wouldn’t bother me except we don’t do it with everyone and I’m starting to get annoyed by the inconsistency.
GoodTimesWithScar. Ok. This one also bugs me. Like, most fics call him Scar Goodtimes when they need a name. I’m not gonna dig into it but that’s…. Why? Why that?
Grian never gets a last name. Ranboo sometimes gets chopped into Ran and Boo but usually he’s an Underscore or he’s last nameless. Wilbur Soot functions wonderfully (until the get involved shhhh) but it’s too close to his real name it gets very confusing.
anyway, all of this sucks, I hate it all, we’re a terrible fandom /hj
all that nonsense aside, yknow who has a functional Firstname Lastname username? It’s even got a space, and proper capitals: Mumbo Jumbo. That’s who. Look at that. It’s perfect. Everyone should be more like Mumbo Jumbo. Thank you and good night.
.
Edit: I know about Ranboo Beloved and Grian Dreamslayer and the various other characters whose names I didn’t mention perfectly in this post. This was no piece of journalism, this was an old man shouts at cloud meme personified. I was very overstimulated and this was what happened to catch my autistic ire. I’m not upset, just figured I’d clarify, a lot of people seem distressed at my not mentioning Beloved. Hope y’all are having a lovely day 💜
