svt crying in front of you for the first time ✧˖*°࿐

a/n: the occasional mild angst, some are less serious than others. also sorry this took a bit, sometmes it's so easy to write for all 13 of them but other times i feel like i'm stretching ideas thin.. so i wanted to try to make this as good as i could .. i hope you enjoyed!

seungcheol:

○ it was after an argument with the members

○ really, it was just something stupid that got blown out of proportion and everyone went home with a hot head. he didn’t say much when he got home to you and you could sense that something was off

○ you decided not to hover around him and just let him come to you and vent if he wanted to

○ up until he was on the couch and you saw him check his messages and angrily throw his phone. you flinched at the sound but you also softened when you saw him angrily wipe his eyes

○ “hey.. what’s wrong?” you asked softly, carefully placing a hand on his arm

○ he just sat down and you followed. soon after, he lays down to put his head in your lap, voice muffled by his hands covering his face. “just something stupid” he sighed

○ instinctively, you start running your fingers through his hair bc you know it soothes him. you don’t say much to him in these moments but you’re glad you can help him calm down when he’s so upset (10 mins later you realize he’s fallen asleep while you trace your fingers)

jeonghan:

○ it was after an argument between the two of you

○ words were thrown around and he was being far too nonchalant and somehow that made you even more irritated

○ " i don't even know about this anymore!" you spit out

○ you'd never looked at him like that either. it's like he unlocked this new level of disappointment and he wondered if he could come back from it

○ "is this it, then?" he said, voice still far too quiet for the emotions that were running rampant in the room

○ angry and hurt tears fell from his eyes but he wouldn't break eye contact with you

○ he didn't want this to end, and he really didn't want this image of you to be the lasting one in his mind if it did

○ you softened, looking away, "i don't want it to be"

○ a small wave of relief washed over him, he could still hold onto you. he walked over to you to gently hold your hand, one that was crossed over your chest

○ "i don't want it either." you let him pull you into him

○ "can we please restart this conversation? i'm sorry it got here" he whispers into your hair

○ you embrace him back "yeah, i'm sorry too"

joshua:

○ he's a bit of an empath

○ you were crying during a movie so in the end, so was he NYDSDHSJ

○ "darling.." he says softly, heart aching over the sight of tears running down your face

○ there wasn't much he could do but to let you cry it out and feel your emotions but he wasn't expecting himself to get so sad either

○ he just wraps an arm around you, running a soothing hand up and down your back

○ he tries to look back at the movie but every sniffle and hiccup from you makes him turn back to you

○ when you notice his eyes blotchy too, it almost makes you stop altogether

○ "you're crying too, josh?"

○ "can't really help it when you're crying, baby" he chuckles, as both of you dab each other's tear's away with your own sleeves

○ "we're being a little silly right now, huh?" you slightly laugh

○ he does his little signature eye crinkle with a little snort, "maybe we are"

jun:

○ it was when he sprained his ankle pretty badly dancing and he was told to take a rest for two weeks

○ inevitably, it felt like the world was turning without him and that he wouldn't be able to keep up when he returned

○ you caught him trying to watch over a dance practice and following along in your living room

○ all was alright up until he put too much weight on his injury and fell over, landing on his bum

○ "ah, shit" he cringed, getting up to drop himself on the couch

○ "aren't you supposed to be resting, hm?" you asked gently, sitting down next to him

○ he leaned forward, placing his head in his hands, "yeah" followed by a sniffle

○ "you know the rest will let you come back and dance even better, right?" you asked gently

○ " i know, but i just want to keep up"

○ "darling you'll be able to make it up easily, you're literally the best" you encouraged

○ "you're just saying that because i'm your boyfriend" he mumbled into his hands

○ "not just because of that" you assured, wrapping your arms around his middle, "but because you're just that amazing"

hoshi:

○ he didn’t want you to find out that he was an emotional drunk. but of course, this was also kind of inevitable

○ one of the boys had texted you asking if you could pick him up after they all had a bit to drink while filming

○ by the time you drove your car up to the hybe building entrance, hoshi was waiting with an arm slung around mingyu’s shoulders (mingyu had an arm around his waist). anyone passing by would think that they were dating

○ “thanks for coming by, y/n” mingyu says, half carrying hoshi into the passenger seat and buckling him in. “any time” you laughed

○ you drove for a little bit in silence as you assumed that hoshi fell asleep. but suddenly you heard your name called out in a small voice

○ “what is it bub?”

○ a deep inhale. “myungho said i wasn’t a tiger”

wonwoo:

○ he didn't cry often in general, so you never really saw it

○ both of you were surprised when it was when he first heard circles

○ "woozi sent this over to me and said it's what he's always wanted to say so i wonder what it is"

○ he places his phone down on the table as you both listen to it

○ you're watching him more than you're listening

○ wonwoo himself is caught off-guard when he finds himself trying to hold his face back from frowning

○ suddenly his breathing is a little heavier as he's trying to control this heavy lump in his throat

○ it's by the second chorus that the tears start falling and you only reach over to hold his hand

○ he can't stop the tears by now so all he can do is wipe them away with the end of his sweater

○ you both wait for the song to finish (you yourself had to hold back from watching your boyfriend cry) and just sit in silence a little after

○ "it was beautiful" you say

○ a chuckle. "yeah it really was"

woozi:

○ it happened rarely, but rarely doesn’t mean never

○ he couldn’t come up with new ideas for his music

○ you visited him at his studio, but little did you know it was his nth hour of replaying the same clips over and over to jog his brain

○ “i brought you something~~” you announced as you closed the door behind you

○ he was hunched over his laptop, barely acknowledging your presence

○ you knew this was unusual, so you made your way towards him, setting the food you brought down on a table

○ when you sat next to him, he turned his face away but you didn’t miss the deep and slightly broken inhale he took

○ immediately you’re filled with worry. “what’s wrong?” you ask, reaching to give his knee a squeeze

○ “i’m gonna ruin our next album i can’t come up with anything”

○ “hey,” you said softly, “hey, you know that’s not true”

○ he finally turned to you with a stray tear falling down. he didn’t say anything out of fear of just crying more

○ “how about this,” you offer, “have you taken a break?” he shakes his head.

○ “have you maybe asked some of the other guys for help?” yet another head shake.

○ “have you left this room in the last 48 hours- not including the bathroom!” you clarified, this finally made him laugh.

dokyeom:

○ it was during a movie (bless his heart)

○ it wasn’t even a particularly sad one, it was actually quite the opposite

○ something about a child reuniting with their parents after being lost for so long and it touched your heart too

○ though it surprised you to look at your boyfriend hurriedly wiping tears away from his eyes

○ maybe you fell in love with him a little more, “you okay?” you asked, pressing a kiss to his cheek

○ he sniffled but smiled nonetheless, “yeah, ‘m just happy they found each other again”

mingyu:

○ it was after a particularly grueling day of practice

○ his body couldn't seem to keep up with the complicated choreography and he was missing half of his marks

○ the other members were making jokes at his expense with no malice whatsoever, but little did they know they were hitting a little deeper that day

○ during one of their breaks he checked his phone

○ i'm in the area getting lunch, do you want me to drop off something? you texted

○ yes please, he replied, texting a simple order

○ when you arrived at the hybe building, he met you in one of the quieter spaces meant for employee lounging so he could talk to you for a few minutes, you did come all the way

○ "hi baby" he greeted, so so glad to see you

○ "hi gyu," you smiled, but something in your gut told you something was off, "you okay?"

○ for a moment you saw his smile falter, but he quickly tried to mask it again. "yeah i'm fine, the new dance is just kinda hard"

○ you didn't want to press too much further so you just reached up to cup his cheek, "i trust that you'll get it gyu, i really do"

○ he sees how genuinely you believe your words through your eyes and this is enough to make him smile but not enough to let him fully hold back a tear

○ you wipe it away and he leans into your touch

minghao:

○ you were partaking in a little tea ceremony with him

○ maybe there was something in the air that day, the weather was beautiful, warm, but not enough to make you sweat, a simple breeze passing through

○ he snuck a peak at you sitting across from him while you were meditating

○ he was hit with a sudden sense of fulfillment

○ there you were, putting your utmost focus into something he cared about and he just felt so happy

○ your face looked so relaxed as the gentle sunshine made your skin look like it was glowing

○ since the two of you think alike, you snuck a peek at him too and caught him wiping a tear away

○ "are you okay, hao?"

○ "just happy" he smiled

seungkwan:

○ it was after one of their tours and seungkwan had been away for 3 months

○ you had started dating a month before the tour even started so he was concerned that he was leaving you too soon

○ would you still like him when he came back? what if your met someone who you could be with more often?

○ so on his day back, his stomach was flipping in excitement and in anxiety. he missed you so much, but what if you realized you didn’t miss him?

○ while he unlocks your apartment, he takes a deep breath, preparing himself to accept whatever comes

○ when he opens the door he sees you (with a biggest smile on your face) with a small cake in your hands that says “welcome home my boo!”

○ there’s also some balloons decorating your living room and he just can’t believe you did all of this

○ “y/n” is all he can say, unsure of what he could to convey how much his heart was swelling

○ “welcome home, baby” you smiled, placing the cake down to make your way to him

○ his arms opened up to you like second nature, quick to wrap around your middle to pull you close to him

vernon:

○ dang it's really hard to come up with a scenario where vernon might cry

○ either it has to be a genuinely tragic moment or something kind of random (like him)

○ maybe he was trying to cook or something and rubbed a pepper in his eye because he forgot he held it with his bare hands

○ "babe i need help" you hear from the kitchen

○ there you see your precious boyfriend with his eyes squinted and a little red, not knowing what to do with his hands

○ "what happened?"

○ "rubbed the pepper into my eye.."

○ "ah" you nod, quickly wetting a paper towel to dab at his eyes that are watering

○ pls his hands are still out as he tries not to touch anything else so he looks a little silly

○ "you're trying not to laugh aren't you" he mutters, barely able to open his eyes

○ "no" you deadpan

○ "you can't be mean like this, y/n" he pouts and frowns. if you didn't have the context of the pepper you'd really think you hurt his feelings

○ (lowkey curse him for looking kinda good even if he's crying)

○ "uh huh, poor you" you scoff, making sure to wipe his hands too

dino:

○ cried because drunk you wouldn't get into the damn car (funny how karma hit him after doing the same exact thing to jeonghang)

○ "but i wanna party some more!" you whined, barely able to stand up by yourself

○ he's struggling to carry you as you randomly drop your weight

○ he doesn't know if the tears coming from his eyes are from laughing at your state or genuine frustration that this is so hard

○ the two of you end up plopping on the pavement next to your car as your legs have magically decided to stop working

○ "baby please, my love, my darling, the love of my life, get into the car" he practically begs

○ "but i barely got to drink!"

○ "but you've drank too much!" he half-argues, he finds himself almost losing it because why is he arguing with a drunk person?

○ "honey, please" he even goes to the extent of clasping his hands together, "let's go home"

○ suddenly drunk you decides to bargain

○ "will you buy me ice cream"

○ "baby i would buy a store's entire stock just for you to get into the car"

○ your drunken self softened at this, "you would?" by this, you're also tearing up

○ "okay chan, i'll get in the car"

○ he's thanking the heavens as he helps you up and eventually fastens your seatbelt.

○ but you do make up for things when you mumble what sounds like an 'i love you' before you proceed to pass out in the passenger seat

○ (he still stops by a convenience store to buy you ice cream even as you snooze)

๑ 'i want to feel, only when im with you."

the door of your class finally opened after what felt like an eternity. "yo," vernon who had been waiting for you says as he puts his arm around your shoulders.

"hey," you responded still not making eye contact with him, you were busy queueing songs to play during your travel. once you were done you gave him your other earphone and leaned on him slightly, "thanks for waiting by the way." "always," he smiles at you softly.

as you walked with vernon and looked around your school you noticed the stares you got from certain vernon fangirls. you knew it was kinda unfair for you to keep clinging onto your best friend like this, but something gives you a bad feeling in your stomach when you think of seeing vernon with another person. of course if ever he got with another person you’d stop, but for now, he was yours to keep.

"i think the girls in my class like your cool-guy-stance, they couldn’t take their eyes off you seeing you outside the window," you teased, he was always there waiting for you as long as you guys didn't have a conflict in schedule, he would always be able to get you from class and commute with you to your home. it's been like that since you guys got close in the beginning of college and found out you guys live near each other.

"im flattered," is all vernon had to say. you softly chuckled at his emotionless face. you moved on from the topic and talked about anything interesting that happened that day.

you guys got on your train and you sat on the only available seat. you gave up offering the seat to vernon, he would never take it. he stood in front of you and held the bar at the top to keep balance as you continued on with your story about a girl you dislike.

"and then, when i walked into the room kel said "hi yn!" and she hugged me!?" you expressed your disgust with your tone. "isn't kel the girl that talked shit about you?" vernon asked, super intrigued with your gossip. "EXACTLY- hey vern you missed your stop," you noticed when you took a looked at the train route. "huh- no i didn't?"

"you're going to seungkwan's place no?" seungkwan was vernon’s best friend from highschool. "i'm bringing you home first tho?" he mimicked your tone and rhymed. you laughed slightly and played with the hem of his jacket, "you don't have to bring me all the time.”

you lied. you preferred it when he stayed. train rides were more bearable with him.

he gently held your wrists in his hands and fiddled with the charms of the bracelet he gave you, “i’m not doing this cause i have to, i’m doing this because i want to.”

he was telling the truth. he loved being around you more than anyone else. that isn’t to say he didn’t want to meet his friends it’s just, a few more minutes with you, if he can take it, he will.

you grinned and leaned your head on his arm. he looked down and patted your head with his free hand. you don’t know why but something in you screamed that you wanted something more than this.

something felt different.

vernon got the key to seungkwan’s apartment that kwan gave him after realising vernon practically lives there. also one time vernon had to pee really bad and he was just outside the door knocking profusely— but seungkwan was wearing earphones and couldn’t hear him. but generally it could just be convenient and good for emergencies!

he quickly opened the door and threw his stuff on the floor along with his shoes.

“KWAN,” vernon stands infront of his friend that’s sitting in his living room, head rested on his hands like he was in a midlife crisis (he was). seungkwan slowly lifts his head revealing his bloodshot eyes with the glare that screamed don’t mess with me. vernon calmed down and pushed his suffering friends bangs away to touch his forehead, “you good bro?” “fuck college.” “true that.”

“hey vern,” seungkwan's roommate jeonghan walked in from the hall. they’ve been livng together since college started. "hey.”

“i'm taking a break and what’s up with you? you seem tense,” seungkwan got up from the floor and walked to the kitchen.

“i think i want to confess to yn," vernon stood in the center of the house like a lost cat.

both seungkwan and jeonghan froze. two people that hear at least 5 stories about yn per day. is it actually happening? is their otp actually getting together?

"excuse me?" seungkwan furrowed his eyebrows. "woahhh," jeonghan still stood in the hallway like the standing emoji. "who slipped up first?" he added.

"no one slipped up? i don't even think yn sees me that way."

"you oblivious gremlin- you two are closer than some married couples i know." seungkwan hissed. "that's just how we've always been." seungkwan slammed his hands on the dining table that was separating him from throwing hands at his blunt friend. jeonghan picked up the conversation as he hung his arm on the youngest's shoulder, "okay, why do you want to confess?"

"i can't really see myself being with anyone else."

"that's a good reason."

"i think i only have eyes for her." "okay this is getting cheesy," seungkwan cuts him off.

"but what if yn isn't interested and then our friendship becomes weird and then i have to live a life without her," vernon lays on the couch out of frustration.

"vernon, you and yn already act like a couple what makes you think a label changes anything," jeonghan stated while seungkwan nodded in agreement and took a sip from his glass while his free hand was on his hip. he was serving wine aunt.

jeonghan leaned against the wall and watched the helpless boy sulk, "i'm only gonna tell you this once, you'll never actually get together unless you try. and it's better to try. before you know it, she might be taken away by another guy, yknow?"

"yea," vernon replied defeatedly.

"you guys are close enough for you to try and it would be crazy for her to not have caught feelings, especially with the way she reciprocates your actions." he continued.

“kinda true.”

“unless she’s only close with you to make her crush jealous," seungkwan sips again as both stared at him, jeonghan with a hateful gaze and vernon with a, 'i thought you were on my side' look.

jeonghan instantly got up and ruffed up seungkwan's already messy hair and they bickered about why kwan would even say that. but anyways, regardless of what these two said, it all depended on vernon to make his move.

๑ 'i'm so scared that the moments we shared won't happen again, i don't want this to end."

the typical routine of you clinging onto vernon happened again the next day. your arm was wrapped around his left arm, his right hand held your phone and it was his turn to queue the music today. you were expressing your joy with slightly jumping and tugging his arm over knowing that tomorrow would be the weekend but vernon was thinking about how you two might not be doing this anymore by tomorrow.

as you calmed down there was a silence but vernon broke it, “yknow you’re never going to get a boyfriend if you keep doing this.”

your heart sunk to your stomach, ‘where is this coming from?’ you thought but you maintained your composure and muttered, “i know.”

vernon looked at you, “you don’t want one?”

“i do.”

as you said that, vernon felt the world fall from behind him. could you be talking about the crush seungkwan made up— vernon was practically losing hair and sleep over a sentence he heard yesterday. having a crush on his best friend was one thing. realising he might have been inconsiderate to you was another. he knew how physically affectionate he is with you but he never bothered to ask you, was there someone else in your life that you wanted to share these experiences with. actually that was more or less a question he didn’t want the answer to.

at this point you both stopped walking and the air was heavy. your voice reached his ears but he didn’t know if it felt as sweet as before, “vern?” you stood in front of him reaching for his arm.

eventually he couldn’t bottle his feelings anymore.

he cupped your hands and spoke, “yn i really like you, like since we got close— since i met you probably so if you like someone else just tell me i can handle it,” he can’t handle it, but this was the right thing to do, right?

it was so silent you could hear the breeze.

vernon continued “i don’t want to hold you back, i want you to be with the person you like—“

you launched yourself onto him and hugged him.

vernon couldn’t tell why you did that. was it out of pity? a friendly hug?— you guys hug all the time but why did this feel different from the one last week? in the end, he couldn’t find it in him to care if there was a motive or something of that sort. he just wanted you. in that moment all he could do was absorb it. he closed his eyes and caressed you in his arms.

“vernon?”

“yea?”

“i like you too. you idiot.”

vernon stood there dumbstruck. ‘no way,’ he mouthed.

he would’ve called you out for pranking him if it wasn’t for your overly sentimental voice that pierced his heart.

there was a long pause before he responded, “you sure?”

you slightly parted from the hug to face him, “fuck you mean ‘you sure’? does it really look like i’m looking at other people?” you sandwiched his face in between your hands. his arms were still around your waist and he laughed at your reaction, “sorry, sorry.”

you beamed at his gentleness and he got so lost in your eyes. “do you want to date me?” he said breathily. you jumped back into the hug, “of course!?”

‘there’s no way that worked,’ vernon thought. you two continued your walk to the train, while holding hands! but also vernon’s legs felt like jelly from the shock. he was walking so slow you thought you were going to miss your train.

fortunately you both got onto the train and got to your usual position. you got on your phone with one hand to reply to any messages you had while the other was holding vernon’s.

vernon was also on his phone and he couldn’t fully pay attention to you, “sorry, give me a second i need to tweet this to seungkwan and jeonghan.” you snickered at his seriousness and way of phrasing.

vern: i did it

kwan: you burnt something down?

vern: i’m dating yn

han: WOAHHHH 👏

han: i told you!

kwan: don’t get too happy, this could be another one of his dating yn dreams. did you just wake up?

vern: *attachment of you two holding hands*

he instantly got a phone call from the two and it ended within mere seconds. you could still hear someone talking on the other line but vernon hung up.

“seungkwan and jeonghan invited you to dinner tomorrow.”

“are they your parents or something.”

“more or less.”

it was a calm train ride until you realised something. “why did you keep talking about me liking someone earlier?”

vernon sighed, “fucking seungkwan.”

'i don't know... how are we supposed to match with that?' vernon asked, staring down the children's pokémon backpack like it had the answers to all his life questions.

'nonieeeee pleaseeee it's our senior year and we need to have matching kiddie backpacks' you complained with a pout. 'i saw this tiktok where this couple had matching shadow sonic and pink sonic backpacks.. we need to do that too'

you looked up at your boyfriend with pleading eyes, who ran a hand through his dark brown hair and sighed reluctantly. 'fine, but it can't be too embarrassing... like my little pony'

you gasped and dramatically placed a hand over your chest, clearly offended. 'there's nothing wrong with my little pony!'

vernon bent over a pressed a kiss to your temple with a smile. 'whatever you say, bub, as long as you don't start singing 'this day aria' in the middle of walmart'

'NONIE!! COME OVER HERE QUICK!' you whisper yelled, since the two of you had already received two warnings from the same walmart employee to keep your voices down for the sake of other customers. vernon poked his head around the corner of the aisle and sent you a questionable look. 'MATCHING ELSA AND ANNA BACKPACKS!!'

you held up two kids' backpacks, each with a respective character design etched on the front. vernon couldn't help but crack a smile at your unmistakeable joy at finding matching frozen backpacks.

'you can be elsa and i'll be anna! oh my god and then for halloween you can be elsa and i'll be anna and we can re-enact the scene from the movie where...' you began to ramble as you excitedly talked about your plans together in the future.

vernon watched you wave your hands around animatedly as you re-enacted the re-enactment the two of you would do on halloween (which was 2 1/2 months away btw) with a fond smile. he felt his heart overflowing with warmth and love at the thought of spending his last and final year of high school with you, and imagining spending the rest of his days with you sent him in a euphoric spiral.

'nonie? are you listening to me?' your sweet voice brought vernon back to earth and he snapped out of his daze to meet your sparkling gaze.

'sorry, what'd you say bub?'

'i said, are you willing to wear a wig for halloween? cuz i think we'll have a really good chance at winning the costume competition if we- why are you smiling?' you peered at your boyfriend with a curious look, your head tilted to the side.

vernon hadn't even realized that he was smiling. he figured it was his natural reaction to being around you. you brought him joy like no other (not even his ps4) and he already knew he wanted to spend the rest of his days with you. he loved you.

'nothing, i just love you'

note: this is actually a tradition in my school (and i think most american high schools) where seniors wear kiddie backpacks instead of regular backpacks so js imagine that they're in an american high school living that american dream 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅

summary. movie major!vernon decides to confess to you, lead by an impulse (and a rush of caffeine)

as creepy as it sounds, vernon has been watching you. not in a stalker way, of course, but it just so happened that you both liked the same cafe.

and you shared the same classes, like literature. and you both attended the movie club. and! he sometimes saw you on the gym when he went to accompany work out with mingyu.

he realised this a while ago – he has a serious crush on you.

he adored the way you always painted your nails with a glittery nail polish, the way your h/c hair fell on your arms perfectly. you also had amazing taste – not only he loved your fashion style but also during the club discussion about movies, he realised you both share the same taste in movies. and tropes… and favorite directors.

or when, like right now, you chewed on a straw while your gaze was stuck in your laptop. the almost coal-black coffee looked sweet as hell when you drank it.

letting out a deep sigh you put the plastic cup away and rested your chin on your hand, looking out of the window to observe passers-by. the pleasant chatter of the people inside the cafe made it really easy to space out.

vernon failed to notice that he let his hand lie on the keyboard, his essay turning into a bunch of incoherent letters.

suddenly, the door opened and a gust of cold wind sneaked inside causing you to turn around.

oh shh– you looked his way, don’t look–!

maybe it’s the day he should confess? you live once, no? he already asked his friends for a piece of advice – chan said to leave it, jeonghan insisted to go for it.

vernon sighed, grabbing his stuff and packing his belongings. careful enough not to nudge the empty glass after his cappuccino and plate with the rest of a lemon tart, he put his precious laptop covered in stickers into his bag. drumming his fingers in thought against it for a moment, he precisely weighed his options.

whatever, he’ll try. the worst you can say is no. besides, he once described emma watson as “a bit foreign, eyes beige and hair darkish-blondish”… so, props to teenager vernon for being so creative but he won’t be so corny now. hopefully.

maybe… i think i’m in love with you and you just gotta let my love adorn you. no, too poetic. and he’ll sound like a weirdo. no, no.

vernon ordered an americano (extra shot, extra ice, make it nice) and grabbed it, taking a deep breath. casually walking up to you, he cleared his throat.

“can i?”

your eyes tore away from the window and a cute smile appeared on your lips, brightening your face.

“sure, vernon. sit down, i wasn’t being productive anyways” you nodded and moved your laptop to make some place.

“y-you know my name?” he stuttered before plopping down. here goes his coolness…

“yeah, seungkwan introduced us. and we share classes together” you nodded, observing how the gears visibly turned in his head.

“would you like to be a part of my movie?” vernon suddenly blurted out and he felt as if the whole cafe turned quiet. no chatter, no rumble of coffee machines working and glasses clinking. just you, him and silence.

the tips of his ears reddened but his features remained calm.

“what? dude, i know you’re a cinematography major but i’m no professional” you scoffed and started chewing on your straw again.

“no, like… that was stupid. wh… you know what i major in?” vernon was, yet again, taken aback. you nodded, taking a sip of the black liquid. the ice cubes in your cup bounced off the plastic walls when you stirred it.

“vernon, you’re a friend of a friend. if course i know. you know my major too, so…” you let out an amused laugh and it was the most angelic sound he’s ever heard “but is the movie like a project?”

“no… just… y’know how everyone crushes emrata, emma watson or like, emma stone?” he named all the emmas he could, seeing that clearly you were confused by his words “and you… you’re just like everyone’s favorite movie”

“what the emmas have to do with that though?” you blinked, apparently ignoring his previous sentence.

vernon let out a shaky breath and looked around the room. couples, students, businesses men in a hurry. everyone surrounded by the smell of freshly grounded coffee beans in the air.

“that you’re way prettier than all of them combined. and i used to have… no, let’s not go there. i keep making weird parallels to movies but what i wanted to say is that i have a huge crush on you” the boy said, fiddling with his thumbs and missing the way the straw fell out of your mouth. his eyes kept scanning the people in the cafe, afraid to meet your gaze “if you don’t know, let me explain girl. hmm, so what i mean is that saying you’re perfect is not enough…”

you scoffed at his adorable awkwardness. his iced americano began to drip on the table long ago, a small puddle of water forming around it.

“vernon”

“even if it doesn’t work, it’s okay…” he shrugged, looking like he was talking to himself at this point rather than to you.

“vernon…”

“we’ll probably fight from time to time but we’ll overcome it like it’s nothing–”

“chwe hansol!”

his gaze snapped up, eyes widening.

“not the government name?! sorry. what were you saying?” vernon rose his eyebrows and then blinked slowly. oh he’s such an idiot.

“you’re so cute” you snickered and leaned forward, resting your chin on your interlocked hands “sure, let’s give it a go. action! as they say on movie sets, no?”

“wha… are you serious?” vernon couldn’t believe this. it all happened so quickly and very impulsively… and… it happened for real.

“one hundred percent serious, you movie nerd. i thought you were cute ever since i joined that movie club… so why not?” you nodded gently and saw a white smile bloom on his lips.

“i… i kinda can’t believe it. but so… y/n, may we go on a first date then? movies?” he asked excitedly, whipping out his student id “i have discounts!”

a/n: happy halloween everyone! highkey one of my favorite holidays, so here’s my small way of celebrating!

seungcheol:

☻ he’s the kind to act tough and puff his chest out and everything to “protect you” but this crumbles so fast pls

☻ i feel like he’s the kind to go “what-WHAT WHY” every time there’s a loud noise

jeonghan:

☻ very lax, so i feel like even if a jumpscare worked he’d laugh it off right after

☻ his eyes get wide from shock for a second or two and yeah, his heart is racing but it’s nothing to him

☻ the type to tease you if you’re scared but also watch to check if you’re okay

joshua:

☻ walks pretty relaxed with his arm around your shoulder

☻ chuckles at the lights and sounds and his hand massages the shoulder it’s resting on when he feels you tensing

☻ ngl how could you feel scared when his muscles are holding you so confidently, you feel so safe

☻ he doesn’t really take the haunted house too seriously and maybe it’s also because he sees the small details that take him out of the immersion too

☻ you’ll most definitely hear a small yelp or scree when something moves in the dark

☻ i can imagine the whiny little “please, please, please” as he (a man taller than you) tries to hide behind you

☻ expect your hand to be in a death grip the whole time

minghao:

☻ he’s such a wildcard sometimes lol

☻ as we can see from that one gose episode, he’ll scare a haunted house employee back

☻ will tell you, “watch this, bLaRgh”

☻ he giggles right after (absolutely adorable) and ngl, it kinda soothes the tension of the atmosphere of the whole thing

Seungcheol

our leader but also the biggest baby girl. retired champion and uses the same team from his youth to this day. He’ll randomly show up places like some old man, talk about the good old days, and wait for someone to challenge him. The only person whose managed to best him is Jeonghan and his damn clefairy

team: charizard, dragonair, bronzong, spiritomb, lapras, aerodactyl

Jeonghan

If you’re in the woods alone, Jeonghan will approach and ask for help while his pokemon pickpocket you. He likes the cute pokemon and has maxed them all out so he can scam people into battles and oneshot their entire team. Word on the street is his jigglypuff is wanted in multiple countries for tax evasion

team: tinkaton, jigglypuff, espeon, tandemaus, mime jr., clefairy

Joshua

Gym leader and one of the first gyms you encounter. Copied the elite four in the sense that once you enter his gym you can’t leave unless you defeat everyone. Bug types are weak so he makes up for it by being a lunatic. Likes bug pokemon bc they freak people out. He’s more interested in people’s reaction to his team than winning but that doesn’t mean he’ll let up

team: vespiquen, drapion, gardevoir, dustox, parasect, galvantula

Jun

Cats and cat adjacent. He’s literally just some guy that hangs around town and feeds the stray cats in hopes they’ll follow him home. So fars hes be successful. likes to have a staring contest with espurr that usual ends with them both falling asleep with their eyes open.

team: espurr, litten, purugly, glaceon, liepard, delcatty

Hoshi

Gym leader and electric type enthusiast. Arcanine is the exception bc tiger is life. You hear him before you see him and if you do see him it’s probably because he's flying thirty feet in the air from a well timed thunderbolt courtesy of his Jolteon he can’t help but pet when thinking. one of the best gym leaders, also defeated the elite four but by then cheol was champion and hoshi learned a valuable lesson on why you shouldn't brag about winning with a one type team

team: luxray, jolteon, arcanine, electivire, zebstrika, emolga

Wonwoo

All of his pokemon are from when he was an edgy teen and thought they made him look more intimidating because he wanted to be a gym leader. He’s mellowed out now and mostly battles for fun. A lot people think he’s scary but then he opens his mouth and goes on a 45 minute spiel about his absol’s favorite bedtime story and why hydreigon is simply misunderstood

team: hydreigon, absol, garchomp, mismagius, banette, lucario

Woozi

Works out with his team so it's survival of the fittest. People think he’s intimidating because he is but actually very chill. Constantly asked why he doesn’t become a gym leader and the answer is always the same: he doesn’t w4ant to. He is content to sit back and watch Hoshi act like a psycho. Doesn’t really battle much but when he does his opponent is in for a world of hurt.

Seokmin

Every pokemon he has starts with “well its actually a funny story…” dodrio just started following him home and seokmin was too scared to tell it to leave, same with lickilicky… and marill… and pikachu. But they’re basically a captive audience for his shenanigans and he sometimes will busk with chatot and makes a good amount of money

team: meganium, lickilicky, chatot, dodrio, marill, pikachu

Mingyu

Aims for balance. Very bro with his pokemon except Cleffa who is carried around in one of those child wraps. Not on the journey to become champion, more so just wants to see the world with his besties. You can find him sleeping in a cuddle puddle with his team after sitting around the fire and eating too many marshmallows.

team: raichu, empoleon, emboar, tauros, cleffa, steelix

Minghao

Appreciates the beauty of pokemon, especially ghost/dark/fairy. they fit his aesthetic. Has a few randoms to throw people off. You can find him sitting in a field under a full moon while they all meditate or just standing in a cave marveling at the nature (right before he sends you hightailing the way you came)

team: toxicroak, gengar, musharna, murkrow, houndoom, drifblim

Seungkwan

My island boy… also a jock. Not a gym leader but a notoriously difficult trainer you meet later on the beach. His team is as sassy as he is and has no issue KO’ing everyone, including you. Hope you know how to swim!

team: blastoise, lopunny, ambipom, azumarill, milotic, blaziken

Vernon

Average Mr. Chwe. Sometimes he’ll compete in tournaments if he’s bored or one of his friend’s drags him around. His team gets odd looks given he picked a few because they make him laugh but ngl they love him and are shockingly good in battle.

team: sudowoodo, slugma, squirtle, munchlax, mr. rime, combusken

Chan

Living his ash ketchum fantasy. Next champion but Seungcheol keeps threatening to come out of retirement just to fuck with him. Josh sought him out just to KO his team before he even reached the first gym town. Hoshi found him on a random beach and let him win just so when he got to his gym Hoshi could destroy his team several times before Chan managed to land a single attack.
