Before Paldea was announced I wanted to theorize about a Pokemon region based on Portugal. and then we got the Iberian Peninsula, but let's be frank, it was basically just Spain.

I predicted the Iberian Lynx starter, but mine would have been a quadruped.

Calflint and Dullphin were based on a a type of cattle from northern Portugal and a Portuguese Man-o-war (the boat not the jellyfish):

I also had a regional version of Furfrou based on a Portuguese water dog:

it was not Water type but could learn some water moves.

Then these two, a regional version of Spinda that ate the grass and poison type Toxuva (that represents the wine industry) and got drunk as a result:

and the mythical of the region, the ghost and fairy type Baroaster, based on the tale of the Galo de Barcelos:

there was barely any Portuguese representation in Scarlet and Violet... the most Portuguese thing was a Brazilian Duck... Thanks Gamefreak.

The Boy didn’t expect to get yet another invitation to Halloween town.

Harold looked at the piece of paper with nervous eyes once again. Was he sure he wanted to do this again? He was excited but!….he didn’t exactly enjoy staying in the water most of his visit. But it wasn’t all bad! He was his favorite animal! A dolphin! And he got to see Sora! He likes Sora. Sora even helped him not dry out and made sure he had a goodie bag of candy and snacks from the stands!

Maybe he could get to see them this time?

The boy let out a shaky breath, closing his eyes and soon, the scent of pumpkin and crunchy fall leaves filled his nose. The wind gently running through his hair, a bit cold but welcoming. The air misty with orange and purple hues.

He looked up at the grand gates, careful to pocket his invitation to not loose it. “Alright Harold! You can do this!! You’ll have fun this year! It’ll be awesome and you can tell George all about it!!”

He huffed, slapping his face and chest with his hands to psyche himself up.

And walked through.

The feeling of heaviness filled his legs as slowly he tilted to the ground, landing rather harshly. He blinked, feeling itchy. “…? This is new?” He gently patted his legs, feeling the weird sensation of warmth and yet cold. Then, pain. His eyes open as pain spread through his legs.

He closed his eyes and slowly curled into himself, bracing for the pain that will follow as his body changed. He could feel something spread along his legs and hands and back. “Okay okay this is fine this is fine… just breathe… you did it before it’s okay…” talking to yourself probably wasn’t the healthiest coping mechanism but hey, it worked.

This time, he didn’t feel out of breath. The burning sensation as his lungs struggled for water. He felt cold and warm at the same time. A burning pain in his body was present. But, as fast as the feeling came, he was left alone. Scared to open his eyes to see what had happened.

Slowly, he forced his now yellow and pink eyes open to see… fur. Yellow, curly fur. “….?” He blinked, his hands now paws. With little claws. “Pawsh?” He then moved to touch his nose, the skin feeling off as his nose was now smaller and more animalistic. Small whiskers on his cheeks and forehead and fangs sticking out of his mouth. On the top of his head was two ears.“Woah….I look AWESHOME!!!”

His back was covered in fur, leading down to his now centaur like lower half. His lower body was now a Sea otter. Four little legs, a tail.

He was now a sea otter centaur.

A water dog.

He was also decorated in a costume. He had on a pumpkin shirt, his little stubby legs decorated in green leafy socks and his tail had a stem on it.

“….. now how am I getting up again?”
