For a brief moment I dreamt of us, every inch of me felt like it had come back home. I was calm, no fleeting thoughts, not one moment of fidgeting to do something. It was a moment of learning how it was to be in love with you, and I could give all my heart to the universe to want it back. For a moment in the dream, my hands were searching for yours, I saw you for half a second before you disappeared and then I kept looking for you. I wanted to go hold your hand, simply hold it because I missed you, because I felt you were taking steps back into distance of fading away within yourself. I wanted to hold your hand, I wanted to just hold your hand. It was a silent promise that we kept making, a silent prayer that was always answered. In that moment I knew that if I just hold your hand your heart will feel centered once again, and mine will be next to yours. In that moment, holding your hand was the only promise I wanted to make.

#Legit would love a vacation for writing

^ That's a tag I just got on a post

And I just want to say...

I did that twice and I highly recommend it!!! Most recently was in January: Three friends and I rented a cabin in the woods for a writers' retreat! We used the Airbnb filter "indoor fireplace" and rented a place full of cozy armchairs, couches, and fuzzy blankets. We went grocery shopping ahead of time and brought enough food, wine, and tea that we literally did not leave the cabin for three days

Our only activities were reading, writing, and talking

It was billed as a writers' retreat, so we did both organized creative writing activities and also free write time

I wrote so much! I also bounced writing ideas off of other people and they bounced theirs off of me.....it felt like an amazing team effort supporting each other's writing goals

Before we got there we went to a used bookstore and bought books on the topic of writing so that we could learn from them. Someone also brought a writing prompts themed card game, which we did as a group activity. And then people brought in ideas from podcasts!

We found a place that was driving distance so split between all of us for food, Airbnb, gas, etc it was totally reasonable cost wise

Last night I got to write in the most liminal or liminal spaces. My husband had an emergency at work, and needed to go into the office to fix a problem at 1:00am. Being the supportive wife (and because I'd had a long nap), I offered to drive him. I brought my laptop so I could write while he worked.

There's something about being in a space meant for hundreds of busy people, that is currently completely empty and nearly dark. Zero distractions. Only the echo of your keyboard. The silence allowing you to live fully in the mind palace of your story. They had unlimited snacks too. Could have stayed longer.
