Honestly, been a hot minute since I've written for JJBA or watched Part 4 so if anything is off I'm so sorry. Here you go though :) I need to write more for this show... I missed it. (For those who don't know, I started yandere writing through JJBA on Wattpad. Although I don't like most of my old work for it now.)

I may add it to my next fandoms since this sparked my interest again 😅 Maybe even bring back some old JJBA fics if I feel I liked them enough, although most of them are female reader so... we'll see. Anyways! I hope you enjoy the new content I bring to the table!

Yandere! Okuyasu Nijimura Concept

Pairing: Romantic

Okuyasu is a very driven character.

He acts through his heart and is often very impulsive.

He even complains about the fact he has no girlfriend in the show.

I feel Okuyasu can both be a very intimidating yandere while also being extremely sweet.

Especially if you are part of the Duwang Gang.

I feel Okuyasu would be very sweet, considerate. and caring for his darling.

However I also feel he'd get easily carried away.

His emotions drive him too much at times which can lead to some problematic situations.

Okuyasu gets to know you when you join the friend group either through Josuke or Koichi.

Okuyasu may even be the type of guy to fall in love fast when he finds the one for him.

As stated before, Okuyasu allows his heart to guide his actions.

The heart wants what the heart wants!

While this behavior can make him sweet at times, it has side effects.

Such as making his jealousy and aggression more intense due to his impulsive behavior.

He doesn't always think his actions through and with a stand as strong as The Hand, that's a dangerous combo.

I don't imagine Okuyasu is good with flirting but his actions certainly show he has attraction towards you in the friend group.

He's very honest in his actions and openly compliments you but he's also respectful.

I no doubt feel Okuyasu pursues you slightly out of jealousy due to Koichi's relationship (Which has its own problems).

Okuyasu seems like a yandere you'd be able to control for the most part with Josuke but there's times he gets out of hand.

He takes dating advice from others on ways to impress you.

Then he tries to apply that to pursuing you.

Okuyasu feels like he'd be a clumsy stalker but still would.

Okuyasu also seems like he'd be a bad liar and feel horrible doing it, which means Josuke or Koichi would pick up on his tendencies quickly.

It's hard not to when they keep catching Okuyasu making puppy eyes over you.

It's like there's not a time he stops looking at you.

He's always just daydreaming about you and often lets his crush over you control him.

I'm sure Okuyasu means well but he would come off so strong in his obsession.

He can't help complimenting you and often gets jealous when you give away your attention to someone else.

Ah here it is, the problematic part.

Due to his impulsive behavior, Okuyasu would definitely get aggressive towards anyone he feels are taking you from him.

He's been shown to threaten those he doesn't like in the show and has tried to use The Hand for lethal force too.

It would take you to calm him down since I feel Okuyasu cares for you enough to calm down.

He doesn't want to look bad in front of you, after all.

His emotional behavior extends into other aspects of his obsession too.

If you gave this man anything of sentimental value, like a gift or a hug, it excites him and probably nearly sends him to tears.

Okuyasu holds so much love towards you and has no idea how to vent it.

He feels he can finally have a partner if he just plays his cards right with you!

Okuyasu is so optimistic and hopeful, too.

He thinks one day you'll get together, even if you don't show any signs now.

I feel if he ever asked you out and you rejected him he'd act fine, shuffle away, then start sobbing.

However, afterwards with some encouragement, he just thinks he needs to wait a bit longer before asking again!

Honestly, Okuyasu may accidentally guilt you into dating him as he's persistent.

He just knows you have to be together!

When you eventually do start dating, Okuyasu does whatever he can to please you.

He is completely head over heels for you when you finally give him a chance.

For the most part he is very sweet.

He asks others for advice on what gifts he should surprise you with.

He's often physically affectionate.

Okuyasu's biggest problem is his emotions towards those he doesn't like.

If he felt someone was flirting with you, even if you were just talking, he'd probably beat them up if not stopped.

Okuyasu can be clingy by following you everywhere.

He hangs out with you with the rest of the friend group, he even plans little dates with you alone.

As said before, Okuyasu means well, he just easily gets carried away.

If not kept under control then he may become a disastrous yandere.

For example, wiping away someone undesirable with The Hand.

I want to say Okuyasu wouldn't kidnap, he seems like he'd know better in a way.

Although if he was really pushed he may do it by accident, like in an attempt to get you to not leave him.

For the most part I feel Okuyasu would just be clingy and follow you around.

He really just acts like a puppy at times around you.

It's cute until people start going missing... and he just never wants to let you go.

Okuyasu may also have abandonment issues due to what happened in his past.

Which would make breaking up nearly unbearable or downright impossible.

Okuyasu would go into denial to the point of accidentally forcing you to stay.

He'd do anything for you!

Don't just let him go!

I feel like I want to say more about him yet I'm also out of ideas.

Overall Okuyasu certainly means well in his obsession but that same driven behavior causes dangerous problems.

From stalking, threats, potential murder, and maybe even kidnapping... Okuyasu just wants to please!

If isolating you will keep you guys together... Maybe he has to do it?

All he knows is he depends on you... he can't have you leave him!

He'd do anything for you to please you... just as long as he can have you as his.

Hii, 🏵️ anon. Here’s some sfw, for now. Side note, do you think this divider is working well for this format? I can never tell, but I want it to look nice.

Okuyasu is a lot to deal with. He takes everything to the max. He’s thrilled when he should be content at best, he’s miserable when he should be only slightly sad, he just doesn’t know how to sit down and be normal. He’s impulsive, he’s irrational, he even has no sense of manners. And he’s all yours! For the low, low price of absolutely nothing, because you have no idea where he came from and why he won’t leave you alone.

I think that Okuyasu likes people who clearly know what they’re doing, or at the very least have the confidence to tell him what to do. Thinking is hard! He’ll leave it up to you, and do whatever his baby wants him to. His darling may think that they can outsmart him, which, yeah, you can, but you’ll never be a match for his intuition. Okuyasu has some crazy good reads on people, and he’s lucky. Your plans for escaping just happen to fall through each time, it’s almost comical.

You are absolutely fucked if you’re an introvert. Okuyasu always wants to be hanging out, and with his best friends too! Okuyasu wants the people he loves to be together, all the time. He’s happiest in group settings, and if you’re smart, you’ll be an active member of conversations, lest he bothers you all night to make sure nothing's wrong.

He’s a bit jealous of people who have partners, he likely picked you because you just totally screamed “partner” to him. He just can’t put it into words, you just have “love of his life” all over you! So he’s going to do boyfriend stuff for you all the time, since that’s what he is now. Your boyfriend. He’s a bit delusional- his relationship with his brother really shaped how he treats other people. You can hit him, yell at him, tell him to kill himself, it all just rolls off his shoulder. You’re just in a bad mood ‘cause he isn’t pampering you, right? Well, start letting him!

He’s easily swayed by pretty people. If you asked him to walk you home, your feet wouldn’t even touch the ground. Don’t even think about trying to carry a bag or a drink, he’s all over that. He’s a bit simple minded (Aha.) in that sense, he sees you as just needing lots of extra care and attention.

Okuyasu’s rage is nothing to scoff at. You can never piss him off that bad, even if you push his buttons constantly, but someone else sure can. It’s like he gets possessed until the deed is done. He takes your honor very seriously, if someone bothers you or treats you how he doesn’t think you should be treated, they’re getting beat within an inch of their life- and he’s coming back like a dog that just buried a bone, tail wagging. Did he do good for you? Tell him he was so good for you.

He ain't above concussing two dudes just because he can't tell which one he's supposed to subdue.

If his darling was finding all the right words to mess with his head and make him do things he knows he shouldn't/doesn't want to do, then Okuyasu will come to the conclusion that his darling is just safer to handle if you're concussed. The brain is similar to butter. Smoosh it around in your skull, and you will have a very helpless darling that needs Okuyasu's help doing things.

The Cat Came Back (Followup) The Morioh Gang reactions

Note: This is a follow up piece to “The Cat Came Back” in which the Reader finds themselves in the possession of the Stand, Killer Queen and asks Josuke for help. The following is just showing how the other characters would react. So headcanons I guess… You can find the original story this is based on here:

Josuke: You already saw his initial reaction when you told him about your unwanted Stand, but there was a lot that Josuke left unsaid, mostly because he didn’t want you to see just how disturbed he really was. He can’t even imagine what you must be going through. This whole situation is horrific and… well… bizarre. It was bad enough that you were targeted and held hostage by Kira during the final confrontation, but now you’re stuck with Kira’s Stand as your own. He still doesn’t understand how something like that could even happen. How does a living person end up with a dead man’s Stand? It’s even more confusing if you consider how Reimi said that Kira died. If both user and Stand were torn apart by ghostly arms, then how is the Stand still active? And why, WHY, WHY, is it acting as your Stand now? Josuke never wanted you to get involved in the crazy, dangerous world of Stand users, but you are now and he can’t help but blame himself. If he had never become friends with you, then maybe you wouldn’t have run into Kira that day and this wouldn’t be happening to you now. He really, really hopes that Jotaro and the Speedwagon Foundation can help you with this, because this is one thing he knows he can’t fix. Just like with the death of his grandfather, he feels helpless and frustrated. But to you, he’s a beacon of calm acceptance. He’ll never let you see how shook up he is because you don’t need that right now.

Okuyasu: He takes it pretty badly. He finds the whole situation to be freaky and incredibly unfair. Expect a lot of angry crying from him in the beginning.

“Whaaaaat??!!” he shouts. “What the hell is this?! How does something like that even happen?! Can’t that creepy hand-humping bastard go haunt someone else?!”

He insists that Josuke could probably fix it if he used Crazy Diamond to bring you back to a state before you became a Stand user, but Josuke explains that his powers don’t work like that. Okuyasu is so desperate that he even suggests, to everyone’s horror, that he could use The Hand to erase Killer Queen. That idea is very quickly shot down by Josuke.

“Think about it, Okuyasu,” Josuke says. “If you erase a person’s Stand it’s like erasing their soul! Do you want to do that to our friend?”

Okuyasu realizes his idea was awful, but dammit he wants to help okay? He feels helpless and frustrated that he can’t think of anything useful in this situation. He just wants the Stand to go away and leave you alone. He even goes so far as to ask you to summon Killer Queen just so he can say that to the Stand’s face.

“Listen here you pink cat bastard!” he practically spits at the Stand. “You better fuck off and leave our friend alone or I’m gonna make your life a living hell!!!”

Killer Queen merely stares Okuyasu down until the delinquent actually starts feeling a little nervous. Then the Stand has the nerve to give him a wry little smile and duck down to nuzzle his head against yours. Freaked out, you dismiss him and Okuyasu rages. It’s going to take a LOOOOOOOONG time for Okuyasu to come to terms with your new status as a Stand user.

Koichi: Koichi is horrified, not just at the situation, but he is very worried for you. Like everyone else, he’s baffled at how you could end up with someone else’s Stand. Not only that, but Koichi is the first to notice that there’s something different about Killer Queen now that it’s attached to you. The Stand seems more lively and sentient with you than it did with Kira, even going so far as to mock others and show you unwanted affection. It was far, far more reserved with Kira. What did that mean exactly? Did it have to do with your personality having an effect on its behavior? He wants to offer you all the support and comfort that he can as your friend but he can’t ignore the creeping feeling of dread that comes over him when he’s in your presence now. He tries not to let it show, because the last thing he wants is for you to think he’s afraid of you. You have enough to worry about without having to consider if your friends fear you now.

Koichi starts doing research on Stands and Stand users, hoping to find something he can use to help you. Maybe there’s a way to separate a user from their Stand without hurting them? Of course, he has considered your feelings on the matter. Would you want to be separated from Killer Queen? Koichi will never say this out loud, but he has a terrible fear that a little bit of Kira’s personality has remained within Killer Queen and that there may be a possibility that Kira’s violent tendencies will start to manifest within you. He really hopes that isn’t the case. He doesn’t want Kira somehow hurting anyone else from beyond the grave, least of all one of his closest friends. He doesn’t know what he’d do if you started turning violent…

Jotaro: As per usual, Jotaro’s reaction is minimal when he first finds out, but his eyes are filled with a myriad of emotions: anger, shock, horror, and exhaustion. Especially the last one. Jotaro is so very tired. It’s bad enough that he’s still having to deal with DIO’s evil influence on the world even after the blood-sucking asshole’s death, but now Kira’s Stand has fused itself with your soul and is acting as your Stand. What is it with villains and the need to cling to the living world even after their very deserved deaths? Jotaro is oddly reminded of that stupid old kid’s song he heard when he was very young:

But the cat came back the very next day

The cat came back, they thought he was a goner

But the cat came back, it just couldn't stay away

That did seem to be the case with Kira. Though, Killer Queen wasn’t Kira’s Stand anymore so it technically wasn’t Kira anymore either. He couldn’t ignore that fact. Killer Queen was your Stand now. Like Koichi, he could sense a difference in the Stand now that it was yours. It seemed more sentient than it was with Kira and he wasn’t blind to the mocking smile the thing would give him and the others. That was worrying. That and how affectionate it seemed towards you. It very clearly recognized and accepted you as its new user. This sudden level of sentience it displayed was disturbing.

The whole thing annoyed him. Just like Koichi, he feared that some of Kira’s influence still lingered within Killer Queen and could have an effect on you. It didn’t help that you didn’t seem to have the best control over the Stand, due to the fact that it sometimes materialized when you didn’t want it to and how it hesitated when you tried to dismiss it. That settles it. He was going to train you on how to control Killer Queen before the thing decided to control you. From now on, you can expect to be dragged along whenever Jotaro is showing Josuke how to better control Crazy Diamond. He would work with the Speedwagon Foundation in order to better understand your condition and help you in any way he could. He made a silent vow to himself that he would not let Kira’s influence corrupt you.

Rohan: Surprisingly, Rohan is the one to take the news the hardest, but he’s also the one to find something close to a solution to your problem.

Next to Koichi, you’re one of the few people he puts any value in. When you reveal Killer Queen to him his first response is to recoil in fear (let’s not forget the multiple deaths he had to endure because of the Stand’s user). After that he gets angry.

“If this is supposed to be a prank, it’s not funny! Did Josuke put you up to this? I never realized that low-life had such a demented sense of humor…” he says.

When you explain to him that it isn’t a prank and he realizes that Killer Queen has indeed become your Stand, he starts acting as if you just informed him that you had a terminal illness and only had a year to live. You watch as the poor man goes through all seven stages of grief in a matter of moments.

Denial: “This has to be a joke. I won’t believe that it’s true! Something like this is impossible! How can you have a dead man’s Stand!?”

Anger: “How could you let something like this happen?! I know it’s not your fault, that’s not the point! Surely you could have done something to stop it?! And where was Josuke or that nitwit, Okuyasu?! Why didn’t they do something?! I’m not shouting, you’re shouting!!”

Bargaining: “I’ll give you an autograph if you say that you’ve been messing with me this whole time! I won’t even get angry, I promise! What about one of my unpublished manuscripts? One of my figurines? You… you’re really not joking about this are you?”

Depression: He goes over to his desk and just sits there staring out the window. You don’t get a response out of him but you notice the tears rolling down his face and you’re shocked. The “Great” Rohan Kishibe is actually shedding tears? And on your behalf? After a moment he wipes his face and starts talking to you as if nothing happened.

Acceptance: “This isn’t ideal, but it isn’t the end of the world. You say that Jotaro’s been teaching you how to better control Killer Queen? That’s good. Now you won’t have to worry about it hurting anyone you don’t want it to.”

At some point during the conversation, Rohan jumps up from his seat and grabs the sides of his head with disbelief.

“I cannot believe I didn’t think of this.” he mutters.

“Think of what?” you ask, hoping he has thought of some kind of solution to your problem.

“We’ll use Heaven’s Door to prevent you from losing control over Killer Queen!”

You stared at him, mouth open in surprise. How had no one considered that before now?

“Give me your hand.” Rohan says and you oblige.

Heaven’s Door manifests next to him and the little Stand touches the back of your hand. You stare at him amazed, having never seen him up until that moment. You are startled as the back of your hand flips open like a tiny book. You see writing on the inside of it, but don’t have time to read any of it before Rohan grabs a pen and jots something down in the margins of the page. It says,

“I have complete and total control over my Stand, Killer Queen. It will never harm anyone that is not a threat to me or my loved ones.”

Then Heaven’s Door flips the book closed and your hand returns to normal.

“Now, that settles that!” Rohan says with a self satisfied grin. “Really I’m surprised you hadn’t come to me sooner…”

While Rohan is congratulating himself, you take the time to lean up and give him a kiss of gratitude on his cheek.

“You’re the best, Rohan!” you say, overflowing with relief and thankfulness.

Rohan freezes mid-sentence, a stunned expression on his face. For a full minute he just stands there staring with his mouth open in shock and a hint of pink dusting his normally pale cheeks. At first you thought that you might have crossed a line and he’d start shouting at you, but he doesn’t. Then you start worrying if you’ve broken him.

“Rohan?” You ask.

This seems to snap the manga creator out of his stunned state. Without saying a word, he turns on his heel, marches over to his desk, plops down in the chair and starts scribbling away in a notebook.

“....rapid heart beat….feelings of almost unbearable euphoria…”

He stops to reach up and touch his face then immediately goes back to writing.

“...cheeks feel like they’re on fire….”

You blink at him, not knowing what to say or do. You guess he’s gone into work mode. There’s not much you can do to break him out of that once his creative juices start flowing. You decide to leave and go tell the others the good news.

“Okay, well. I guess I’ll go let Josuke and the others know. I’m sure they’ll be relieved.” you say.

“Later, Rohan.”

You start to leave when Rohan suddenly turns to you with a serious expression.

“Before you go, I want it to be known here and now that if you tell anyone, especially Josuke, that I cried, I will never speak to you again.”

Your lips twitch as you hold back a laugh.

“You’re secret’s safe with me, Rohan-sensei.” you say.

Side note from the current Yandere JJBAx reader I’m working on but still JJBA related. I’m currently watching part 4 and I just love everyone.

So here are my opinions on them and some relationship headcannons

Not all characters have relationship stuff-

Jotaro

I love how Jotaro is still himself but just… feels slightly baby girled. I also love how the first thing we properly see of him in part 4 is him 1- pitying a turtle 2-sucker punching Josuke moments later. With that being said, he’d totally be smitten for you. I may joke on how others are simps, this is my number one simp choice.

You probably didn’t obsess over him like the girls when he was younger but actually talk to him like a person, not just a set of hot muscles. He does like it when you talk about his hot muscles though ok… play your cards right and he might let you touch, but don’t tease him or he’ll back away. But, once you’re official, I feel like he’d quite like witty banter and teasing from his partner, as long as it’s clear you’re joking. No joke, probably fell for you after you mentioned a random fish/ocean creature fact.

“Huh? Oh you’re reading about starfish? I like starfish, even though they’re not actually a fish.”

“Marry me-“ “huh, what did you-“ “good grief, I said nothing…” 10/10 on my way to marry him as we speak.

Josuke

Josuke, I wasn’t sure if I’d like him at first but he is my baby no.2. He’s such a sweetheart, so dependable. Just his reaction any time his friends are in danger is just perfect. Plus I love his mom. The way he’d defend your honour like he defends his hair. Anyone say anything out of pocket about you and they’re dealing with your very powerful boy. Totally brags to you about how he’s Jotaro’s uncle and that Jotaro asks for his help on missions soooo often. But then later asks Jotaro for date ideas and advice because he’s older. My man is a romantic at heart you can’t lie to me. 10/10 would make dinner for him and baby him.

Koichi

Although Koichi isn’t my type personally, he’s such a cutie patootie. He’s so sweet and genuine that I imagine he’d just be a darling to eat lunch with and talk about your favourite shows or manga. 10/10, would walk with you too and from school.

Okuyasu

Okuyasu… he is my baby. He’s stupid, strong and has a heart of gold despite looking like a delinquent… you guys can’t lie to me that is definition of a Himbo. You can’t tell me he wouldn’t drag you out on every little adventure he could with him and the others. He’d have you wearing his jacket when it’s cold and if you already have one he’d insist his is warmer and then wear yours so you can have his. Dinner dates at Tonio’s. Yeah 10/10 he might be a menace sometimes but he’d fight for you. Use your scary dog privilege wisely.

Speaking of Tonio… only slutty men know how to cook. (/J) 10/10 I love him, underrated husband.

Rohan is a self centred jerk… I’m going to aggressively make out with him and you can’t stop me. 10/10 (sorry I’ve only seen like 2 episodes with him so I don’t have much commentary)

I’ve only just gotten to the episode where we see him pulling up to his house after nearly hitting Koichi so I can’t really report on Kira yet… but a man who carries an arm around… yeah smash- 10/10 psychotic asshole.

Dating Okuyasu headcanons

You two are like two peas in a pot. You two were sealed to be with each other based on your first introduction

Brain cells? Ermm, you two may lack some intellect but you both aren't that dumb (maybe)

How could someone as gorgeous as yourself be willing to date a boy like him? Okuyasu puts himself down a lot. Saying how much he's hideous, a burden, and other things. But you cup his cheeks and tell him he's the most handsome and reliable person you've ever met, making him cry each time

It was no doubt he was head over heels for you when you spoke to him, the euphoric feeling of being on cloud 9 whenever you two are alone in the classroom or any private area of the building

Absolutely loves when you call him pet names! "How you doin' sugar?" "You alright, honey?" "Want me to give you a massage, sweetpea?" he can't get enough of it, immediately melting at those words

Small dates here and there. You guys walking around the park and dining at an Italian restaurant, events like this never failed to leave you unsatisfied.

Before you two started dating, he'd always go to his boys, Koichi and Josuke, for advice. What accessories to get you. Do you like dark or lighter colors? Should he buy you magazines or your favorite sweets? When should he make his first move on you? The questions went on and on and on and on, oh you could just imagine the annoyed feeling those two had, but it paid off.

In Summer, you didn't believe he was ripped, as a matter of fact, the thought never came to your mind until you were invited to go to the beach with the boys (and Yukako too) let's just say you were all over him once you saw those muscles, poor Okuyasu was drowning in your affection while the other 3 went on playing on the other side of the shore.

Speaking of summer, Okuyasu tries his best to not act on his urges. You look stunning in your swimwear and the poor boy always looks away from your direction when you're standing in front of him. Getting a boner in a big public area? He'd rather fight the horny rather than go down as a boy who got hard around the girl at the beach.

Around the Fall season, Okuyasu most definitely showed up at your house 2 days before to invite you to the school festival once he heard that you weren't going. Little did you two know that the door was cracked open a bit, a camera zooming in before a click sound was made. Josuke was quietly snickering while Koichi was trying his best to not laugh, quickly and quietly telling Josuke that they should leave before they get chased around for their trolling. The two are going to tease Okuyasu about this for the rest of their lives.

Hm, probably Caesar, Okuyasu, speedwagon, and Kakyoin.

Hii. Since you’re so polite, sure. ♡

Okuyasu reacts very well to a darling that’s actually nice to him and not only nice in his fantasies. It’s only proving his point- you’re meant to be. Nobody’s ever treated him this good! Well. Josuke and Koichi sure do, but that’s different.

Every time you compliment him he reaches a new high. He goes out of his way to receive just the slightest bit of praise. He’ll take anything his darling gives- degradation, general verbal (Or physical, poor Okuyasu.) abuse, he’ll even take the silent treatment. But genuine praise? Okuyasu doesn’t know what to do with himself. His entire face lights up, he just sort of stands there, hands trembling. Have you heard of operant conditioning? He’s very easy to train.

You probably met in school or at one of the shops he frequents in town. Maybe you cut his hair (Helping out at your family barber shop? Part time job on break?) or work at Tonio’s, or that one cafe in town, or maybe you’re also a regular. Or maybe he saw you at the park! All it took was one glance to get Okuyasu to almost break his neck for a second look.

He’s eager, to put it simply. He’s dying to get your attention. Okuyasu sees absolutely nothing wrong with walking up to a stranger and getting right down to business- he wants to be yours. He’s useful, and obedient, so there’s absolutely no reason to turn him down! Even if he’s coming off sort of (Very.) strong, just put him in his place, and look! You’re already practically an item with how you’re telling him what to do!

Okuyasu relishes in your thoughtfulness. Patch him up after he hurts himself and he’ll never take the bandages off- even if they’ve been worn for weeks and been through countless workouts. He dies a little on the inside when you take them off, but perks right up again when you replace them (Despite his wounds already being healed).

Playing a Horror Game with Josuke and Okuyasu (non-yandere scenario/headcanons)

Note: These headcanons are based in the current year and aren’t yandere themed. As much as I like yandere stuff, I have to take a break from it every now and again. So, here’s a little something from my brain’s lighter side. (You’re still going to be playing a horror game though!)

Josuke is a bit nervous about this. He’ll never admit it in a thousand years, but he’s not a fan of horror games. The last one he played scared him badly enough to give him nightmares for days and he never played it again. When you asked him to play a game called “7 Days to Die”, a survival/crafting/zombie horde game, he wanted to refuse, but when you mentioned that you had been playing the game with Okuyasu for a few weeks now, he immediately downloaded the game from Steam. He was a bit miffed (and very jealous) that you had been playing with Okuyasu and neither of you bothered to invite him until now. You didn’t say anything to him at the time, but you knew all about his aversion to horror games and were reluctant to invite him to play due to how intense 7 Days could get. It was Okuyasu that insisted that you invite his best friend, because the two of you had been having some trouble with the last few zombie hordes and he felt that Josuke’s gaming experience could come in handy. So you relented.

Okuyasu, in spite of his… limitations… proved to be a genius at building. He managed to design a beautiful fortress with a kitchen, sleeping quarters, garden, storage room, and even a watchtower. You helped him surround the fortress with an impressive concrete wall and surrounded that wall with a ditch full of metal spikes. Neither of you had quite reached the level where you could get the perks that allowed you to create automated defenses… at least you hadn’t.

You found out that Okuyasu hadn’t bothered to put perk points into anything yet. He’d been collecting unused perk points since level one and hadn’t unlocked ANYTHING! No wonder you guys were struggling! After getting him to actually use his perk points (and making sure he invested them in perks that were actually useful), the two of you began to set up more high tech defenses. This, of course, was after you finally got him to stop giggling stupidly at the fact that there was a perk called “Sexual Tyrannosaurus”.

When Okuyasu first spawned into the game, he spotted what he thought was an NPC in the distance and ran over to them. You tried to warn him over Discord that it wasn’t an NPC, but when you heard his startled scream, you knew it was already too late. He was zombie chow. He respawned in the desert and it took you forever to find him again. When you did manage to find him, he was fighting off a flock of zombified vultures. You sighed and went to his rescue.

When Josuke was creating his character, he was disappointed that he wasn’t able to give his character a pompadour. He settled for a mohawk.

When Josuke finally joined the game, he spawned in the snow. It was a terrible starting point, but it didn’t slow him down at all. It took you and Okuyasu a long time to get to him, but by the time you found him he was already wearing padded armor, managed to loot some ruined houses for ammo, and made a pipe rifle and a sledge hammer.

“Hey guys! What took you so long?” he said, as he stood outside of his shack that he already had surrounded with wooden spikes, while cooking meat from a freshly killed wolf over his campfire.

You stared at him, a little bit envious of how quickly he progressed with no guidance at all. It took you a while to figure out the mechanics of the game and took you even longer to explain it all to Okuyasu, (and he still struggled with it from time to time). You glanced up at the day counter at the top of the screen. You didn’t have much time. Maybe it was a good thing that Josuke was so good at picking up the game so quickly.

“We need to hurry and get back to the base.” You said. “We only have three days before the next Blood Moon.”

“Oh that’s right! We haven’t finished setting up the rest of those traps!” Okuyasu chimed in.

“And you’re gonna need much better armor than that.” You said to Josuke, looking at his character’s very basic armor.

“Uh… Blood Moon…???” Josuke asked, sounding confused.

Oh boy. Josuke hadn’t bothered to do any research on the main mechanic of the game. You told him that you would explain on the way. Josuke gathered up the few supplies that he deemed important and followed you and Okuyasu back to the base. Along the way, you explained to him just why the game was called “7 Days to Die”.

“You have a total of seven in-game days to do things like build, gather materials and supplies, look for food and water, and take quests from the Traders. On the night of the seventh day, a Blood Moon rises and a horde of zombies comes after you. It doesn’t matter where you are, they’ll find you. You can’t hide from them and you can’t run from them. Your only choice is to stand and fight.” you explained.

Josuke was really quiet as he listened to your explanation. That sounded absolutely terrifying.

“And the attack lasts all night long!” Okuyasu added. “Also, everything is bathed in an eerie red glow, like the gates of Hell just opened and unleashed its lost souls upon the living!”

He added the last part in a creepy voice and let out a maniacal laugh.

“Don’t be so dramatic, Okuyasu.” You said, rolling your eyes at his antics.

Josuke was having some major second thoughts.

“Great…” he muttered under his breath. You managed to pick it up through Discord though.

“You, uh… you gonna be able to do this, Josuke?” you asked.

“Y-yeah! It can’t be that bad… c-can it?” he said, trying to sound brave but failing.

“Weeeeelllllll….”

You didn’t think it would be fair to lie to him.

“With every level up you get and every week that passes, things get more and more difficult. Eventually you’ll come across different kinds of zombies and some of them have different abilities. Some are stronger, some can jump really high, some can call other zombies, some explode…”

“Explode?!” Josuke shouted.

You explained more about what to expect from the game. The more you explained, the more Josuke doubted that he wasn’t going to have nightmares that night.

Eventually you all made it back to your base and Josuke was impressed with your progress. Okuyasu proudly showed him around while you rifled through your supplies, looking for what you needed to make Josuke a decent set of armor for his current level and perks. You also searched through your weapons and ammo supplies as well. While you were impressed with how quickly Josuke managed to make his own weapons, a pipe rifle and a stone sledge hammer weren’t going to be enough for what the next Blood Moon would throw at you. You realized that you forgot to mention that with each Blood Moon that passes, the Blood Moon hordes get more and more intense, including the stronger variations of zombies. Glancing at the day counter again, you realized that it wouldn’t matter if he knew or not anyway. This next Blood Moon would be rough. You just hoped your preparations were going to be enough.

Josuke proved a big help in preparing the base for defending against the horde. He helped you and Okuyasu plan better defensive strategies for the upcoming Blood Moon. It was his idea to set up an extra two layers of barbed wire around the spike pit. The barbed wire would slow the zombies down, allowing you to pick off the more dangerous ones. The spike pit would take care of the rest. It sounded good in theory, but having been through several Blood Moon hordes before, you couldn’t help but feel a bit worried that it wasn’t going to go as smoothly as you hoped. Okuyasu set up some robotic turrets to mow down the oncoming horde from the watchtower. It seemed like a good plan. You started to feel a little more confident about your chances of surviving the next Blood Moon.

Josuke’s first night in the game was pretty awful. No lighting of any kind was allowed because you discovered earlier that light attracted curious zombies to your base. Campfires were only used for making emergency rations or to warm up when your characters got wet and cold when it rained. Josuke hated that. He asked if you could have at least one torch but you said no. It was just too risky. So Josuke spent that night huddled in the darkness of the main room with you and Okuyasu with the only light coming from the moon. While the “home base” music was comforting, it still held a slight sinister undertones to it and when it wasn’t playing, the night time air was filled with all kinds of strange sounds that set him on edge.

“W-what the hell was that noise?!” he yelped.

Okuyasu chuckled at his obvious nervousness.

“Just nighttime ambience to make the game spooky. Trust me, you’ll know if it’s zombies.” you told him.

Speaking of which…

Your base was suddenly surrounded by the sound of footsteps rushing around the outside. .

“Shoot…” you mumbled.

“What? What is it?!” Josuke demanded, his voice pitched with growing terror.

“I forgot to mention that the zombies gain the ability to run when it’s dark.” You said.

“WHAT?!!” Josuke shouted.

You could hear the snarling and growling near the front of your base. It was the unmistakable sound of zombies angrily trying to free themselves from your barbed wire traps. Battle music started playing.

“HORDE!!!” Okuyasu shouted, maybe a bit too gleefully for your tastes.

His character threw open the back door and ran up to the top of the watchtower. From there he could see a fairly large group of zombies wading through the barbed wire in an effort to get to the base. Without the sunlight blaring down on them, they were faster and more energized. They were making short work of the barbed wire. They’d already broken some of the traps. Okuyasu killed a few of them, but he could see more coming in the distance.

“What do we do?!” Josuke yelled, panic evident in his voice.

“Come on!” you said and led him up a ladder to the roof of the base.

From there you lead him to the catwalks that Okuyasu set up. The catwalks lined the wall, giving you both a decent view of the approaching horde. You and Josuke began picking off the newcomers, while Okuyasu got rid of the zombies stuck in the barbed wire.

Eventually, the three of you managed to fend off the horde with minimal damage to the defenses. Josuke felt like his heart had gone up to his throat. After taking a moment to calm down, and metaphorically swallow his heart back down into his chest, he let out a relieved sigh.

“That wasn’t so bad!” he said. “Man, you guys made it out like the Blood Moon was gonna be tough!”

“Uh… Josuke…” Okuyasu started to say.

“That wasn’t a Blood Moon. We still have another day before that happens.” You said. “That was just a mini-horde.”

“MINI-HORDE!?” Josuke shouted. “That was like 20 zombies!”

“Nah, more like 10.” Okuyasu corrected. “Blood Moon hordes are way bigger and they keep comin’ until the sun comes up. I told ya that before, remember?”

“Oh…” Josuke said.

When the day of the Blood Moon finally arrived, Josuke spent all of the daylight hours feeling on edge. The three of you went about gathering up the needed materials to do quick repairs, getting loot from one of the nearby houses, buying ammo and repair kits from the Trader, and preparing food and water. Josuke got the idea to set up some storage crates at strategic areas around the base and fill them with supplies so you wouldn’t have to run all the way back to the storage room if you ran out of ammo or needed first aid kits or something during the Blood Moon.

Finally, the sun set and the Blood Moon had arrived. Just as Okuyasu described, the world was bathed in a red glow, giving it a hellish look. Thunder boomed in the sky and, in no time at all, the horde was upon you. Okuyasu let out a ridiculous battle cry and began shooting down on the zombies with the turrets. You tossed molotovs down onto the zombies as they approached the outer layer of barbed wire. While they burned, you took out your sniper rifle and began picking off the tougher zombies. Josuke just used the machine gun you gave him to pepper them with bullets. Things were going fairly well… at first.

Then things went sour very quickly. One of your bullets hit a large soldier zombie in the chest, setting off the bomb embedded there, and causing it to explode. The resulting explosion took out a section of the layers of barbed wire and the zombies went right to it. The spike pit took out the first few that fell into it, but eventually the spikes were broken and destroyed, opening up yet another path. The zombies that fell into the pit and weren’t impaled by the spikes began climbing out of the pit and making a beeline for the main gate in the wall. You, Okuyasu, and Josuke killed off as many of them as you could, but eventually they tore the gate down and flooded into the front yard. They had breached your defenses!

Josuke was panic shooting as he watched the zombies surround your base and begin pounding on the front door and around the walls. It wouldn’t be long before they made their way into the base! Sure enough, the horde broke through the front door and some of the windows. They piled into the base and began making their way up the ladder to you and Josuke.

Okuyasu and Josuke were nearly deafened by your screaming as you found yourself face to face with your least favorite kind of zombie: the spider zombie. As if a regular zombie wasn’t bad enough, some sicko developer thought it would be a great idea to combine one with a spider, thus creating a monstrosity that had a hideous, arachnid-like face, crawled around on all fours, leapt to great heights, and made the most horrible sounds you’ve ever heard. The creature seemed weirdly focused on you, more so than even the other zombies. It let out an ear-splitting screech before jumping on you. It broke your arm and gave you a concussion. Soon the other zombies joined in, punching and slashing at you and knocking your health down bit by bit. You did your best to fight them off, but both your ammo and health were depleting. At least you managed to kill that horrible spider zombie.

Amidst the flurry of blows from your undead attackers, you could see that Josuke was having his own troubles. A group of female zombies had cornered him on the catwalk and were now chasing him around the top of the wall. Josuke had long since run out of ammo and due to his undead fangirls, he was unable to get to the emergency supply crate. He used the modified baseball bat you gave him to bash in a few of their skulls, cringing at the cracking and squelching sound their heads made when he smashed them open. He noted that it seemed that only the female zombies were targeting him. Even in a game, he ends up with an unwanted harem. He was seriously contemplating just jumping down into the spike pit to get away from them. He would probably survive…

Okuyasu was doing better than you two. The horde had not yet breached the watchtower and he managed to mow down most of the ones that tried to break in with the turrets. He had a fully stocked supply crate that he only needed to get into once, and that was to refill the ammo for one of the turrets. He was feeling pretty safe at the top of his watchtower… until the flock of zombie vultures flew into his face.

“Not you guys again!” he cried.

Just when it seemed like all was lost, the sun rose and the Blood Moon came to an end. Miraculously, you managed to fend off the last few zombie stragglers. Your base was in shambles. Your poor character had two broken legs, one broken arm, and a concussion and was slowly bleeding out. You hobbled over to the nearly destroyed supply crate and grabbed a first aid kit and some bandages to stop the bleeding. You also put casts on all your broken limbs. Due to your character’s injuries, you couldn’t do much to help as Josuke and Okuyasu healed themselves and started to work on repairing the base. You could only stand there and watch as they started patching things up.

To your surprise, Josuke was already planning for the next Blood Moon, hoping to be better prepared now that he knew just how intense things could get. You thought for sure the Blood Moon would scare Josuke away from the game for good, but he told you that playing it with you and Okuyasu made it fun, and a lot less scary than it would be if he were playing it by himself.

If he could handle multiplayer survival horror games then maybe you’d introduce him to more. You wondered how he would do in a game like “The Forest”. Maybe you’d invite him and Okuyasu to join you sometime. In the meantime, you watched your friends start the rebuilding process as you waited for your character to heal.
