So. I was tagged by @lord-kaira , who is a wonderful person but has not yet known me very long and so did not realize what would be unleashed.

....now, see, I've been writing for a couple of decades at this point, and I don't believe in abandoning my WIPs unless I honestly can't bring myself to face them anymore. So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to list the WIP folders I have and the number of files (and series folders) that are inside. And you can pick a fandom and a number within the range for that fandom and I will tell you what that file (or series folder) is and three sentences about that file or series. Sound good? Great!

Hi.

So I just realized that I have been in various fandom for such a long time (i mean, not really, but it feels LONG). So with this post, I would like to deliver my gratitude towards all fanfic writers whose stories help sustain me throughout the years.

I am not an overly active person. In reading sites (ff net and ao3) you’ll rarely see me comment on stories (i know its not good, i try to leave at least a ❤️ when i can no longer give kudos, like, or bookmark,, don’t hate me pls). Writers often say (write?) to interact with them on various platforms, but i am an over-thinker with an overly suspicious personality; i want to interact but i will overthink all my interactions and will probably leave you on read for months and be overly guilty about it but still not gonna do anything about it.

Today i scroll through my ffnet acc, and was reminded of the thrill i felt when i first read interesting fics on that site (which later on introduced me to ao3) and I could think help but feel very nostalgic. Sadly some of the fanfic i mention is no longer available.

My first venture into the fanfiction zone is through the naruto fanfics. My highschool friend introduced me to fanfiction (and also bl in general), and i was hooked. And my first ever fanfic was ‘Hate’ by RenAfri (it’s in Indonesian, so if you can read it, go ahead). And then i was enchanted by ‘The guardian of the Moon’ by nateulm. (God i got so emotional just thinking of that story), next one is Shizuka na sonata by Paradoxical Pardigm ( i have to search google for this one because I cannot find it anymore and i did not remember the name, only the story) and shizuka na sonata was the story that introduced me to the pain of reading an incomplete story (i still love it very much and i thank you paradoxical paradigm for creating the beautiful story). After those, i browse the site for anything to devour,, and by chance stumbled upon many great stories by legends such as EmptySurface (i really love most(? I think I haven’t read all) their naruto and harry potter fics, thicker than blood is by far my favorite), and Cywsaphyre (the lives worth saving is *mmm chef’s kiss*; also wandererr). I found out i kinda like hp crossover with any fandom and fell into that rabbit hole for a while. Ridell Lee introduced me into Merlin by ‘Only A Boy’, Cosette-aimee’s a necessary gift is an absolute delight to read, brainthief’s 0800-rent-a-hero was a mind changing experience for me back then who worshipped the ground albus dumbledore walk on, seito’s basically all khr and yoi fics are like water after a long draught (a real life cinnamon roll series, we weren’t born to follow, to the beat of my own drum, if there’s a song in your heart-and consequently to the song as well), heir to the sky’s the rightful sky is what introduced me into khr, (i read the fic bfore i knew khr), fruitpastilles’ to live and breathe and live again and the summoning pact is something i didnt know i needed, metamorcy’s various fics of various fandom, ( contract, basically all khr fics because that’s what i was there for), SkyGem’s stories are wondrous (YOI retirement aus, every little thing, they call me freedom), blackkat’s rarepairs which are addicting (their stories are what made me so into madatobi, criminals do it better series, the last immortal is dead and gold series, as is the sea marvellous, backslide, basically all naruto fic actually) raendown’s soulmate story collection is especially sublime (not that their other fics are not!), what you knead by agentmarkele is a heartwarming entity that lives free in my brain, and MadMothMadame’s tobirama centric fics that brought me to tears. In the chinese danmei fandom I breathe in Sami’s and the same moon shines universe (including ridiculous future bullshit and other related verses; *adored* the juniors and jin chan’s dinamic there), trippednfell’s wangxian amazing, heartwarming, and relatable fics (i keep where’s your emergency open in my browser so i can bounce back and have my fill of goodness every once in a while), and many other lovely stories and authors i cannot possibly mention.

This post was meant to be some sort of thank you to all these writers, who have brought so much joy (and not so little tears) into my bleak life. I don’t think i would be the person i am today if i do not read your stories. And maybe this post will not reach you, and i am so sorry for that.

HP/YOI AU where three years after the war Harry becomes the DADA teacher, Hogwarts opens for international students, and Harry accidentally becomes the mentor to about half of them.

After the war, Harry, Hermione, and Ron disappeared from public eye and reappeared a year later with the reopening of Hogwarts. It is revealed to the public that, with the assistance of Minerva Mcgonagall and the remaining DA members, they completely revamped the classes, adding new classes, firing teachers, and hiring new teachers. Then the announcement that Hogwarts would soon open to international students within the next three years is released.

(Basically the entire castle would be in use. The dorms would be expanded outside their traditional areas, connected by newly constructed tunnels/ or a floo system the only has one destination? one of those. The older students (6 & 7 years) get smaller dorms,(basically just college dorms) with 2 people per room. more classrooms are in use due to there being more classes available to everyone, Students can propose clubs and if enough people sign up they can get a room. (this will soon happen when the skating trio start teaching everyone how to ice skate, Harry is dragged in on the case of it being “too dangerous to let a dozen inexperienced skaters be alone, you wouldn’t want us to get hurt right?”))

Victor is in his 6th year, Yuuri in his 5th, and Yuri is in his 3rd.

Harry is the new DADA teacher, he finally accepted the position after being a central participant in the restoration and upheaval of Hogwarts. He’s very close to Hermione and Ron, and he does his best to stay in contact with the DA after everything. He and Ginny decided to break up after a few months of dating, Harry doesn’t have much interest in dating but he still goes on the many blind dates his friends set up. He helps take care of Teddy, often bringing him to work and playing with him while grading homework. He enjoys being a teacher, and is very good at it, but he doesn’t let his students slack off. He’s still one of the favorite teachers due to how he goes out of his way to help his students understand the lessons.

Yuuri is a muggleborn, he went to a magical school in Japan and was able to stay home through most of it because magic. He continued skating despite everything and participated in competitions. He never got far due to his anxiety but he still wants to skate competitively after he finishes school. Yuri doesn’t have many friends except for Yuuko, Takeshi, and Phichit, who he met at a short student exchange event and kept in contact with afterwards. He was one of the few Japanese students to get an invitation to Hogwarts.

Victor is a pureblood and the heir to a prominent family. He learned of and started skating after getting lost and stumbling on an ice rink in the muggleborn part of magical Russia. He promised his family that he would cooperate with everything else if they allowed him to continue skating. He acts cold and doesn’t have many friends, the only person he is seen to be close to is his younger cousin, Yuri. He attended Koldovstoretz up until he was invited to Hogwarts along with Yuri, Georgi, and Mila(and a few other random students) and often disappeared to practice his skating.

Yuri is also a pureblood, and he is Victor’s cousin. Yuri also attends Koldovstoretz. After getting suspicious of Victor’s disappearances he follows him and finds him skating. After watching for a while he demands that Victor teach him how to skate. Yuri often feels like he’s always standing in Victor’s shadow and while he does look up to him, he wants to surpass Victor and show the world that he isn’t just the second in line.

HAHAHA omg and Rita Skeeter writes this exposé article about how The Chosen One and his Death Eater boyfriend have had a years-long secret passion for ice skating that got them both through the war, as evidenced by the fact that they were spotted last week kissing in between practicing quadruple axels on the frozen Great Lake.

And Ron literally has to go to the Hospital Wing because he laughs so much he pulls something. And literally none of their friends don’t find the situation absolutely hilarious.

And Harry and Draco end up having to hang out with each other if they want to grumble about all the rumors and how utterly ridiculous everyone is. And one day they decide that clearly they need to get drunk to forget about it all.

And after much alcohol and many covert glances, Harry’s like “but what if we were boyfriends?”

And Draco says “well I guess we would... kiss... or something”

“Like this?” Harry would reply.

And they would spend the rest of the night kissing in between, er, doing some horizontal quadruple axels, if you catch my drift.

And the rest is history and they loathe every second of having proved Rita Skeeter right on any count, but not enough to stop them kissing by the frozen Great Lake while they sit together watching Viktor and Yuri practice :)

College has been taking up most of my time and it left me in one of the biggest writer’s slumps ever. And yet, you guys still gave me chances, even when I asked for an extension twice (woops). So, thank you!! You are truly the best! I also want to thank N for being the best alpha and giving me ideas! Your comments and your enthusiasm have made this journey better! Draco glared across The Great Hall, he wanted to murder the two at the Hufflepuff table. More than he usually wanted to murder someone. They were too much, and they were beating him. He couldn't be bested, especially by a bloody Hufflepuff. Especially by a fucking Durmstrang AND HUFFLEPUFF. "Drake are you going to eat?" Pansy asked giving his hand a squeeze and looking up, she assumed he was staring at Potter (again)but was shocked to find he was shooting daggers at the Hufflepuff table - again. "What are you looking at Draco?" "That stupid Hufflepuff. Look at him and his stupid flirty ass, he is practically crawling into that Durmstrang's lap." He snapped and narrowed his eyes, "disgraceful!" Blaise laughed and shook his head, "haven't you been following Krum around all week...?" Draco turned his sneer to Blaise, "that's different! I was only getting under Potter's skin!" "I highly doubt he even noticed.." Pansy said under her breath, rolling her eyes. "He noticed," Draco answered quickly and looked up when he heard an 'aw' sounding. He knew exactly where it started, right at that Stupid bloody Hufflepuff table. "Oh that's it!" Draco yelled, standing up and marching away from his own seat. Pansy and Blaise shared a look, "what is he..?" "Wai... is he leaving?" They watched him pass by Hufflepuff, only giving the two kissing students a glare and he stopped at the head of Gryffindor before stalking down the side with a sniff. "Potter!" He demanded coming behind the Golden Trio, who had been giving just as much a sweet praise as the rest of the hall to the two young love birds. "What do you want?" "Potter!" Harry jerked back again and Draco pulled him to his feet before finally dropping his tie. "They're out gaying us Potter." "Out ga-- Malfoy I'm not gay?" Harry's face grew red and he took a step back his embarrassment winning over his anger. Draco blinked, "uh.. I'm not either! That's not the point! They are getting much more attention than us!" His voice was raising with each word making Harry cringe away and the bystanders stare in shock. "I don't care about them, Malfoy, I'm literally fighting to stay alive in a bloody tournament." "I..." Draco blushed a light pink and turned away, "I just. I don't like it! Is all!" "I don't give a damn what you like," Harry's anger growing again. And then Draco leaned in, his hands in fist at his side, his eyes tightly shut and his lips to Harry's. Harry froze, his eyes grew wide and he placed his hands to Draco's chest with the fullest intention of pushing the man away but somewhere along the way his mind stopped thinking that and started thinking, 'kiss him.' So he did. The whole hall was quiet, save the collective gasp from everyone. And then Draco was pulling back and after a quick glance around he gave Harry a smug look, "there we go." "Uh...?" "Don't die." Draco said quietly before he turned to sneer at the two at Hufflepuff, "my school!" He yelled at the both of them, turned on his heel and walked out of the hall. "About time, really," Hermione whispered to Ron. "I mean, honestly," Pansy was saying to Blaise, "could he have been anymore dramatic?" Viktor looked at Yuuri with a smile, seeing the other was flushed and hiding his face, "at least I'm not like that..." "You are rather dramatic though," Yuuri whispered through his blush, "and just as boastful."

Pottermore Wand Test: the Yuri on Ice Main Characters Edition

It just so happens that sometimes my great and nostalgic love for Harry Potter manifests itself yet again in some interesting ways.

Today, for example, I had the urge to figure out which wands would the Yuri on Ice "main" characters use -- particularly in terms of wand woods, those being the greater variable and also kind of like a horoscope for characters.

I decided I wanted to try them out at the Pottermore wand quiz before freely assigning them anything, just for fun. Sometimes the Pottermore quizzes are right enough. Sometimes they're really wrong, and there's nothing to do but ignore it.

Of course, some of the questions don't really have definitive answers. I often play on that uncertainty by looking up the possible results and picking out the more fitting choices.

I thought I'd share the results I got. Even though Yuuri is giving me a terrible headache.

SPOILERS for the Pottermore scoring method ahead, in case anyone likes not knowing.

Pottermore's wand quiz determines the wood by the following three questions: which is one's eye color, which trait out of a given seven one is most proud of, and which path one would choose at a fork in the road. The given seven traits are: determination, imagination, resilience, intelligence, originality, optimism and kindness. The paths available to choose from lead to the sea, a forest or a castle.

I started with Viktor. His eyes are very much blue, but when I was doing this I seemed to remember a couple of gifs where his eyes were gray. I checked later and it turns out I was wrong, his eyes are always blue (the gifs do exist but were manips), but I'd make a case for using the results for blue/gray anyway since they're oddly fitting. The trait he'd be most proud of in himself would of course be his originality. As for the path he'd pick, after being with Yuuri it'd definitely be the sea! But I'd also like to suggest that he’d pick the castle before that.

blue + originality + sea = Elm

blue/gray + originality + castle = Elm

blue/gray + originality + sea = Cherry

I really like most of those results. Fir is described as a wand for survivors who pass through mortal peril and also for intimidating, focused and strong-minded people, which isn't not Viktor, especially before meeting Yuuri, but I also feel it's not a positive for him either. Elm, however, is an interesting choice, particularly for pre-Yuuri Viktor, since it's described as producing "the fewest accidents, the least foolish errors, and the most elegant charms and spells," and as preferring owners with "presence, magical dexterity and a certain native dignity." How much dignity Viktor really possesses either before or after meeting Yuuri is up for debate, and depends a lot on how you define "dignity," but I feel Elm certainly fits the image of Viktor Nikiforov.

I do like to think Viktor himself completely gave up on the trappings of image once meeting Yuuri. And Yuuri definitely changed his life (and certainly his priorities) in some very fundamental ways. Thus the wand most suited to him might change.

Cherry is of course THE Japanese tree and thus very much something that he'd strongly associate with Yuuri. The description says that cherry wands "possess truly lethal power, whatever the core, but if teamed with dragon heartstring, ought never to be teamed with a wizard without exceptional control and strength of mind."

Thus I immediately decided that Viktor's core, whatever the wood, is dragon heartstring. That core is said to be "somewhat temperamental," to learn more quickly than other types, and to produce the most powerful wands, which then "are capable of the most flamboyant spells." And... yes. This is definitely Viktor.

I was going to do Yuuri next but he was quite difficult, so I ended up doing Yuri Plisetsky instead. I'm pretty sure Yurio's eyes are blue-green, and he'd prize his own determination. I don't think he'd pick the forest at all -- he'd either pick the sea because of his association of it with Yuuri or notice that, get pissed, and pick the castle... But here are the possible matches anyway.

blue/green + determination + sea = Pear

blue/green + determination + forest = Cypress

blue/green + determination + castle = Hawthorn

Neither Pear nor Cypress are really a match at all: pear is for the "warm-hearted, the generous and the wise," and cypress is for the "self-sacrificing, unafraid to confront the shadows in their own and other's natures"... both of which are kind of so unsuited for teenage Yurio it's kind of hilarious.

Hawthorn is pretty great for him, though: it's a wand very suited to both healing magic and curses, meant for "those with a conflicted nature, or passing through a period of turmoil." It's also warned that its wizard should be very talented "or the consequences might be dangerous."

I was rather divided on which core should Yurio get. Dragon heartstring suits him as well as it does Viktor, and it'd be in keeping with the fact that they sometimes end up parallelled, but I wondered if exactly because it's Viktor's core Yurio might not end up with unicorn hair instead, which would be in keeping with their frequent clashes instead. Unicorn hair wands are very loyal and produce less power but more consistent magic.

And finally we get to the most troublesome character: Yuuri. This boy took me quite the time, mainly because of his ridiculous choice range. Seriously, Yuuri, what is your eye color? Most Japanese people have "dark brown/black" eyes, but as an anime character, Yuuri's eye color is lighter... and occasionally quite impossible. I think sometimes it looks reddish? Should I then put it down as "other"? Or go for a bit more realism and put it down as just "brown"? I imagine Yuuri would be most proud of his resilience... or would it be his determination? Would he elect to go to the sea ("home") or to the forest (running away from "home")? (I discarded the castle path due to associating it with people, socialization, and maybe sophistication, all of which Yuuri would almost certainly want to avoid.) Then again, as a friend pointed out, it is just like Yuuri to be like this and give me around eleven possible results, none of which are immediately apparent as his perfect match.

black + resilience + forest = Apple

brown + determination + sea = Fir

brown + determination + forest = Yew

brown + resilience + sea = Laurel

brown + resilience + forest = Rowan

other + determination + sea = Red Oak

other + resilience + sea = Pine

other + resilience + forest = Dogwood

Out of Yuuri's eleven possible wands, I'd say only two of them do not fit him at all. Out of the remaining nine, there are two I'd be doubtful about assigning him but see no reason to outright reject. The final seven can all be said to work, and not one strikes me as so perfect no other would do.

Yuuri wouldn't work well with either beech or dogwood. Beech wands are meant for those "wise beyond their years, or rich in understanding and experience," and, much as I adore Yuuri, I think we can all agree those are not characteristics typical of him. Dogwood is "quirky and mischievous" and looks for a master equally as playful, which are also not defining characteristics of Yuuri.

Two other possible matches that do not appeal to me but neither do I see great objection to them: red oak and rowan. Red oak prefers a match with unusually fast reactions. "Its ideal master is light of touch, quick-witted and adaptable." Rowan, on the other hand, "is most happily placed with the clear-headed and the pure-hearted." Again, neither of those descriptions are particularly characteristic of Yuuri, in my opinion.

The long list of maybes is apple, ebony, fir, larch, laurel, pine, and yew.

Apple is described as "best suited to an owner of high aims and ideals," and its owner will often have "great personal charm, being well-loved and long-lived." I do think Yuuri's natural stubbornness could easily lead into high aims and ideals, depending on how he was taught and his experiences, and although he's often asocial and standoffish, he's very well-loved by those who know him and exceedingly charming in his own way. There's also some evidence to support the theories that, although he sees himself as awkward, people around him interpret his behavior as cool.

Ebony works best for "those with the courage to be themselves; non-conformist, highly individual, comfortable with the status of outsiders; people who will hold fast to their beliefs despite external pressure and will not be lightly swayed from their purpose." Despite Yuuri's constant assertions of being mentally weak, I believe the truth is that he's very courageous and quite stubborn: he not only deviated from two fairly comfortable possible futures (helping his family at the onsen; following in Minako's footsteps as a danseur) to follow an exceedingly demanding and expensive dream, he even went so far as to leave his home country by himself for the unknown to better his chances of succeeding... and of course, it's all the more difficult for him since he has anxiety. He also seems very comfortable with the status of outsider.

Fir demands "staying power and strength of purpose, and favours owners of focused, strong-minded, and occasionally intimidating demeanour." Of course, Yuuri's great stamina is a plot point, and as for the intimidating demeanour, see Minami's POV.

Larch is a particularly interesting wand wood for Yuuri, as it has a reputation for instilling courage and confidence in the user, which would greatly appeal to someone like him. It is however also very tricky to handle, and seeks out masters that, like the wands themselves, have "hidden talents and unexpected effects." The description furthermore says that the person meant for a larch wand "may never realize the full extent of their considerable talents until paired with a larch wand, but will then make an exceptional match." This might actually be one of my favorite wands for him.

Laurel wands have a reputation for being honourable, but often their matched owners are involved in a quest for glory, during which lethal magic may sometimes be performed. Laurel wands disdain laziness in their owner, but will actually defend themselves from being stolen from a match that treats them properly, via spontaneous lighting stike. As Yuuri is both hard-working and competitive, he would do quite well with a laurel wand.

Pine "always chooses an independent, individual master who may be perceived as a loner, intriguing and perhaps mysterious." They're also said to "perform best for owners destined for long lives." Yuuri can be very independent, as seen from him cutting himself off from his family and close Japanese friends for years; and the skating community almost certainly thought of him as quite intriguing and mysterious at times.

Yew is very rare to find in a wand, and their matches are "unusual and occasionally notorious; heroes as often as villains." The yew wand "never chooses either a mediocre or a timid owner." I know some people will say this wand shouldn't fit Yuuri, to which I insist that "reserved and occasionally shy" is very much not the same as "timid."

Yuuri's wand core, out of the canon three, can't be other than the phoenix feather, which is "capable of the greatest range of magic, though it may take longer to reveal this." Phoenix feather wands are very picky, as phoenixes are "independent and detached." These wands are "the hardest to tame and to personalize, and their allegiance is usually hard won." Thus, an extremely capable and versatile wand core, but difficult to win over and quite the late bloomer. The many parallels with Yuuri himself are quite clear!
