Bit of a sappy post but...

After years of feeling like a failure as an artist on instagram and not getting the reach I would like, I decided to start a Tumblr. After a few months on here I've gotten more likes than I ever got on instagram. I'm not a failure I'm just niche ✨️

I raise you a complete cast of abc Ghosts set at a Sydney beach front property at palm beach near Barrenjoey light house.

TW ⚠️ depression, implied self harm, death, eating disorders, child loss and miscarriage

Unnamed Aboriginal from Kuring-gai country pre colonisation, Male, age of death 34.

Doesn't say other ghosts names only uses nicknames and general descriptions to refer to them. Has sarcastic, dry humour and is both cunning & very intelligent. He won't tell anyone his name and was very lonely until Katherine turned up. He loved telling stories to Katherine, just as she loved singing him songs. There's a strong mutual respect and deep emotional romantic tension between them.

Katherine, Female, age of death 28

Audhd coded. Upbeat, friendly, matronly, and cares deeply for her ghost family. She was an Irish convict, (she stole textiles for warmth while living in workhouse, where she often cared for children who were separated from their families) brought over 1836. She had a tragic death (doesn't talk about it) a while after she ran away from the ship while it was docked, and set up shelter at the show's beach site. When she died, the first person she met was the Unnamed Aboriginal man. Her power is people can hear her amazing Irish singing (possibly affects mood based on emotional tone). She usually only sings happy & upbeat songs. The first time we hear her sing sadly is in a flash back singing a sad, emotional song to children who are grieving the loss of another child who died in a factory related accident. Hates talking about life before she died.

Molly, Female, age of death 52

Born late 1800s survivor of polio her left leg is disabled. Her husband built a house for their small family on the beach (the same spot where Katherines run down shelter stood), because he thought salty air would be good for her. She had a love of the arts and a very caring, loving husband who tragically passed in freak storm while out fishing leaving her a widow and single mother to their one son. She has a history of still births due to polio affecting her pelvic bones and birth canal. So she's very protective of her only child Jack. When world war I drafting started, Jack being 19 saw it as an opportunity to bring in some money so he left in middle of the night just leaving a letter knowing Molly would have tried to stop him otherwise. Jack's friend who had been severely injured in combat was sent home. Upon returning he visited Molly to deliver the news Jack had drowned upon arrival in Gallipoli due to the weight of his pack. Molly is devastated and angry at the military, government and England stating "but he was a good swimmer" over and over. From this point she starts spiralling into a deep depression which leads to her death. She has developed deep hatred of the military and government.

Maxwell (maxy), Male, age of death 19

Aussie digger in 1939 training with unit in the area practicing port defense at barrenjoey light house. He was shot through chest due to fellow solider in unit messing with gun accidently firing (negligent discharge) similar personality to Captain in bbc Ghosts with a strong sense of justice. Molly feels responsible for him and uses him as a surrogate Jack causing issues.

Barry, Male, age of death 42

Similar personality to Pat very upbeat and helpful. Instead of being a Scout master he's a Nippers instructor in traditional surf lifesaver uniform from 70s with a very fit build. He was accidently bitten by blue ring octopus but didn't realise it had bit him since it's painless. This happened while he was rescuing one of the kids in his group who got swept up close to rock pools in a rip tide. He was married with son in Nippers. Classic Pat/pete story of his best friend and wife cheating on him and getting married after his death.

Debbie Female age of death 23

Beautiful and psychically fit with hair styled like Farrah Fawcett in the 80s with lemon juice highlights and regularly did aerobics. Husband was alot older than her and a property developer and built her a beach front mansion. She's slightly ditzy, little bitchy and has boomer ideas but gets introduced to bimbocore tiktoks and becomes a "bimbo boss babe" her words. Realises when she was alive she was seen as nothing more than "pretty" and no one cared about her thoughts or interests. Death from toxic diet trend/ sauna and too many diet pills overloaded her heart after husband said she was alittle chubby in her aerobics gear

Kevin, male, age of death 67

Instead of no pants he's wearing speedos (budgie smugglers) and bought the house in 1989 from Debbies husband not long after her death. Year he died was 1993. Despite having a weak heart he inserted himself into a game of beach volleyball with some young women who were playing on the beach infront of his property (technically the beach is public property). He worked as a Mining executive. He's a bit sleazy, Divorced never had kids. His power is that he can move things like Julian and Trevor. House goes to Kevin's younger sister with no living kids and she squandered all the money she inherited. As she aged, she hired tradies to try and salvage the home after years of corrosion to the home

Johno, male,aged of death 19

Last year Sparky (electrician) apprentice. Killed on the job site by electrocution from electricty being turned on while he was working. He has electrical powers. He died in 2005. He loves Blink 182 and other popular music from that time. Had a girlfriend in highschool (highlights issues of tradies dating girls way too young for them). His personality is of traditional tradie with hints toxic masculinity and alcoholism disguised as humour.

How Aussie Alison inherited the house:

Kevin's younger sister dies in her 90s and is sucked off with her closest living relative being the Australian version of Alison their estranged second cousin (Alison's mothers older cousins) Alison's mother is an only child who only had one child. Only had cousins Kevin, Kevin's sister and their parents as extended family.

so, in most australian aboriginal cultures you’re not supposed to say the name of people who have died (you’d instead say “so-and-so’s brother”, etc) and i think it’s be interesting to see an australian version of ghosts with an aboriginal character who just refuses to say the ghosts’ names. no one knows their name since they just refuse to say
