Here are some more images of ideas I worked out. The first one is Zelda before she sets off on her adventure.

It’s a bit more formal and ornate. I imagine her running around the castle with the headdress and skirts flowing behind her. It’s a cute design but it doesn’t last long in the story. For this, I took some inspiration from the look of young Zelda in OoT as well as various outfits from India and the Middle East.

The second image has some cleaned up sketches of some of the various races she meets along the way. I love Gorons. They’re just so silly looking but their generally kind demeanor endeared them to me greatly as a kid. This one is maybe a fisherman of some kind? I added a frog prince to go along with my fairytale theme for the story. He’s very chivalrous and polite, though he has his own adventure that Zelda interrupts. He has a wonderful singing voice, like the frogs from OoT/MM. I’ve added the Minish to the story since they’ve been underutilized. I imagined there being a group that lives in a mountain and that’s been cut off from human contact. Because of this, they’ve grown distrusting of outsiders and a little haughty. These particular Minish ride armored Cucco and think of them as fearsome beasts, though Zelda will point out their general uselessness in battle. Last, I had an idea to include the Goriya. I liked the idea of dog people but my mind may have wandered towards wolves for this one. He’s a fearsome warrior that uses a giant boomerang shaped sword. Though he may appear a little blood thirsty, he really only cares about protecting his village. In this story, the Goriya are villagers that were cursed by a witch. Zelda is tasked with finding the witch and getting her to undo the curse.

So yeah, just some more ideas that I wanted to share. Zelda’s main look still needs refining but this “princess” outfit is more or less complete. I plan to add more races or at least figure out how to draw the ones I’m already including. Looking forward to sharing more in the future!

Since I’m on a Zelda kick lately, here are some sketches for my Princess Zelda outfit. Took me a little bit to figure out the designs but the basic elements were there pretty early. I originally envisioned her using some kind of magic gauntlet but it seemed a little played out. She also was going to carry the broken Master Sword’s hilt but I realized it would look a little goofy. The current setup should work better.

Hello again tumblr! I have once again gotten back into posting art online. Here is a little illustration for an idea I’ve been working on based on Legend of Zelda. The story focuses on Zelda as she’s forced out of Hyrule Castle and into the wilderness on her own. Ganondorf has defeated Link, shattered the Master Sword, and turned the King and Queen into stone. Now Zelda has to find a way to reforge the sword while surviving Ganondorf’s attempts to eliminate her. For her look, I wanted it to have a kind of classic Greek hero vibe. I’m a big fan of swishy capes, tied up tunics and tall boots so she has all my favorite hallmarks. I’ll try to share some more ideas for the world and how she’ll go about exploring it

So I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I just didn’t think I had enough of a chance for it to work, but now I figure I might as well give it a shot. So a few months ago I moved across the country to be with my girlfriend. In the process of moving, I had to leave all my things in Oklahoma after my car slid off the road in an ice storm and was totaled. I still got to where I was going but it took a big chunk of my savings to get settled.  I’ve managed to make things work here but I’m not sure if I have enough money to ship my things over. So I started a Gofundme campaign in the hopes that I could get some help. I don’t know a ton of people on here and I don’t expect to hit the total, but I’d still be happy with any amount of help. Got some inspiration recently and decided to design a unique type of dragon. It’s mainly based around a mudskipper, with a sea anemone and a manta ray thrown in for fun. It’s a little messy but I still like how it turned out.
