your daughter’s first birthday, a day after you and takahiro’s sixth wedding anniversary. cake from yesterday set on the table, minus a slice, while hers is full, covered in baby pink frosting with little roses piped on the top.
takahiro smiles at her, and when she does the same he can’t help but feel his heart smile even more because she looks just like you.
a little piece of him, and of you. the way her skin glows under the sun, in the same hue as yours. the mole he has on the left shoulder, she has on her right. eyes that hold his shape, but glimmer like yours. the curve of her lips quirking the same way as yours do when he says a joke.
