Sorry that I've been M.I.A.

This is what's been happening.

Update: Kind of

Welp!

I've been on a break from art for a bit because let's face it; some times, being an artist is just disappointing and I'm tired.

Here are some things that I've been doing instead.

•Sketching; I've got some new designs that I want to digitize and put on my store, but I'm not right now because even simple tasks feel too overwhelming and yeah, tired. I am looking forward to seeing them in all of their glory once they're ready though.

•I have been writing on some of my writing blogs; although I've even taken a break from that because now, tired.

•I have also been listening to Star Wars audio comics on YouTube; I'm a bit of a Star Wars nerd and I enjoy them quite a bit, the voice acting is quite good.

•Other than that I have just been resting in bed, doing a bit if tidying up, etc.

I want to do more stuff, but my mind and my body keep saying no. If I don't want another trip to the hospital, (Which, of course I don't) then I'd better listen.

Ok, that's all for now.

And now I feel bad because I haven't posted anything to my YouTube channel is months...

The year just gone has been a really tough one.

I've had several pet, family and personal health scares; on top of that I was battling homesickness and depression.

I have felt so aimless and even kind of purpose-less lately, but I'm doing my best to recover back home.

So there my first YouTube channel still lies; gathering dust. 💔

Maybe I should try to revisit it again though; who knows? 🤷‍♀️

I have started a Painting on ply wood with Acrylics series on YouTube 💛

Yes, you read right; missjscanvas is now on YouTube. (And has been for a while; I just haven't had time, or the words to say anything about it until now...Surprise? 😅)

Anyways; I started a YouTube channel because I had also started live streaming while painting, drawing and interacting with people on another social media platform and I found that I LOVED IT.

I loved it so much; I wanted to give YouTube a try. I want to create a space where people can come and relax, be inspired and just have fun.

Now it's all about practice. (I may even post some of my videos on here too.🤔 We'll see.🥰)

I recorded a video of myself painting the artwork you see above; the asmr sounds are pretty good, but the picture is awful, I'm not really sure what happened there.🤷‍♀️

I did post it on my YouTube channel anyway; more for myself to look back on and see how much I've improved after some time and as an encouragement to anyone else who wants to start a YouTube channel to just take imperfect action; it builds consistency!

The video I posted after that was much better. 🥰

Update: these printed mugs are no longer available at the moment, but not to worry!

A majority of my Summer prints will be available again in the warmer seasons.

I'll be focusing on Autumn/Winter prints for this season (I'm working on new designs for those seasons atm)

This is how this ocean themed digital design I drew turned out on a mug. (I apologize that I can only seem to find the brighter, edited version of the design)

If teenaged me could see me now; I feel like she'd be so happy and excited to know that I've made it to this stage and that I didn't end up giving up art for good. 💖

I really love drawing/creating nature scenes, but my all time favorite thing to do is put mushrooms in bizarre places in my artwork; like in an ocean setting for starters. 😆🌊🍄🍄🍄

Some sketches I have yet to turn into digital prints. I've been procrastinating because my phone is old and tends to spazz/ do whatever it wants and make things difficult for me.

It'll be worth it once they're ready though.🥰

I'm looking forward to using them in my shop in the next warmer seasons.

It's just getting myself motivated that's the difficult part. 😤😩

Update:

Whew! We're finally reaching some colder temperatures in my country so I've been changing over my products from the Spring/Summer range to Autumn/Winter.

That means more Autumn themed mugs, cozy throw blankets and closed in shoes. 💕

I've also got to narrow down my range of products from over 100 or so to just 50 items at a time so it's less overwhelming for customers and will make things easier for me too in the long run.

This came about because for some reason, the three pages of products I had previously, just repeated the first page of products over and over and over for three pages instead of displaying all of the range of products that I actually had. I have no idea how this happened, I've had my shop for a few months and it was displaying all of my products just fine up until then, but I suspect it has something to do with Fourthwall's recent update and it's screwing things up that previously worked fine. 🙄 I'm not super tech smart so the only way I know how to 'fix it' is to just keep my stock at an amount where it only needs one product page.

So that means the best way to save myself from more headaches is to only have 50 items listed in my shop at a time.

For anyone else who uses Fourthwall as an online shop front; I hope this info may be helpful to you!

If there is one thing you could change about yourself as an artist, what would it be?

A: I would sketch and draw much more often.

What is something that you really want to do as an artist, but you're scared to try it?

A: To make a bunch of paintings and dioramas and put them in a gallery of some sort.

Or I'd put my digital artworks through an online gallery/auction/competitions.

The fees, costs of supplies, equipment and lack of reliable transport and fear are all that's holding me back.

I absolutely Love both illustrations and daisies are one of my favorite flowers too!

I've also used this method a few times myself; it's a lot of fun and a great way to preserve and re-use physical art.

Both illustrations are absolutely Beautiful; well done!

Daisies 🌼

This illustration is a combination of traditional and digital art! The “base” was done with watercolour and acrylic paints and the final layers were drawn in procreate. What are your thoughts on this experiment? :)

P.s. daisies are one of my favourite flowers 😍 so I’m impatiently waiting for Spring to see more of them

Trying to make art fun for myself again:

•Post my favorite art pieces (I chose too many so I made a gif)

•Talk about my art:

I like drawing food, coffee, fashion, mushrooms, anime characters, beachy stuff and animals because those are all things that I love and that I'm interested in making art about. I also like designing my own characters; which are usually animals, or basically self insert oc's to model my fashion designs. (Because I wanted to be a model at one stage. I did a little modeling when I was in my early twenties and I loved it.)

What are some of my favorite things about art?

•That there are no real limits to what I can come up with.

•That I can make it as detailed, or simple and thread-bare as I want.

•And I can use as much, or as little colour as I want, but mostly that I can use as much colour as I want. (I love colour in case you couldn't tell.)

Does art feel more fun for me after doing this?

No. Not really. This excercise was boring a part from getting to make a gif of my art and posting it.

But, who knows? Perhaps this excercise might help someone else out there.
