An NPC from a Delta Green game I'm in: Helvetia's therapist turned case officer/director, since all the other case officers/directors got assassinated.

All these were inspired from the play-by-post segments of our otherwise weekly voice sessions! (Except top left which was a warmup, cuz boy I'm rusty at drawing.) Her wide range of expressions were too interesting/fun to not scribble down. and yeah bottom right really is NOT a good look for her

A short comic about a family of sparrow-shifters after a war.... aka my hengeyokai PC's (Hrodwyn) epilogue for the D&D 4e Westmarches they were in.

If anyone's curious for more context, you can check out the GAWE tag, or have at this:

People of this world don't like scadanfolc (hengeyokai, shifters). If one is caught, they'll be branded via being forced to wear animal motifs (usually masks)

Hrothgar (dad) was caught and had to abandon his family (or risk getting his entire flock caught), was sent as a scout to a ruin, and got stuck there for 10 years

Hrodwyn (aka me as the player) rescues him. There's a comic that touches on what happens after this a few posts back!

Merlin of Groenewellan: Hrodwyn's late mother whose stories and spirit they keep close to heart ✨ Hrodwyn doesn't remember much else about her, since she died protecting her kids after one, due to Starblight, transformed and cannibalised another child.

She's a sparrow-shifter like the rest of the family, except she lived most of her life as a human up until meeting Hrothgar (Hrod's dad). So she's a lot more human oriented in culture and in ways of life! That's why her outfit is different from the rest: instead of manifesting clothes with 'magic' (actually nanobots) (this is how they shift forms too), she makes them. She's also using a wolf pelt unlike the rest of the family's feather-down cloaks.

I procrastinated on my assignment so hard, I finished a sketch I've been procrastinating on for 4 months LMAO glad it's finally done! I like how the colours turned out too. I'm just hoping tumblr won't crunch down on them like they're doing in the draft preview

I convinced our Delta Green game master to have a play-by-post (basically text roleplay) section in our game's server and uhhhhh maybe I've been having too much fun with it. Writing is faster than drawing comics, what can I say?

(Long ramble about writing stories below hehe oops)

While we're here! A bit about writing: I like writing! I've written for loger than I've drawn for (because school). I think I'm better at writing than drawing for that reason (I'm more confident at least). I've written short stories. I've written short stories about TTRPG things. I've also written a ~100k word novel by hand for 2 years. While writing it, I had 'writing class' (technically AS/A level Ennglish Language classes). It was the only class I had confidence in and high expectations for.

With those 2 combined, I burnt out pretty quick LOL. Specifically, I had a big perfectionism issue because of the high expectations I had from my teacher and especially myself -- it was the one thing I knew excelled at in school, so I better do it well! After I was done with the novel and A levels, I was supposed to edit the novel. It's been years and I haven't done it yet, and I wouldn't write non-assignment stories (except 2) until now. Writing became more nerverwracking than it was fun, so why would I?

To get back to the PBP thing: I've been in a campaign that was fully PBP. With my mindset being the way it is, hey! This is just one big writing exercise, so I ran along with that and had fun with it. I saw how some players would make their own PBP and essentially monologue/have a scene only with their PC. That was cool to see.

And now, my current Delta Green campaign (tagged 'Helvetia'). Hrothgar (guy in drawing) and his kids were ported over from a previous D&D campaign (the fully PBP one!), so the crew had a very well defined background already. Of course I get tons of drawing ideas for them, except I don't have the time to draw them all (compsci hard). But since the server has a PBP section, I had like 2 weeks to kill between session 0 and 1, and I was bursting with ideas... I made a lot of solo PBPs that were essentially short stories.

It didn't quite hit me until some time ago, but the PBPs actually made me enjoy writing again -- enjoy it a lot more, in fact! I think the format of Discord threads and messages removed most perfectionism tendencies I had. I just had to fire the story away, message by message. It didn't have to be amazing, and it was fun! (Also I really don't know how to shut up with them LOL)

I'll definitely be cleaning these PBPs up and posting them here as stories. Some of them are just silly, fun, slice-of-life character sketches. (These were the stories I wrote after my novel... and yes, they were about my other set of Delta Green characters LMAO) (and I've posted them here under pawsedswrite btw!) But some I see as legitamite short stories that I would edit more heavily and present as a short story. They were the kinds I could see myself writing on a document rather than on Discord.

Well, I lied. 'I would edit' is false. I have already edited one, because I spent like 5-6h writing this one PBP (oops) instead of writing the draft for my short story class/elective (oops 2). I joked to my two friends saying that I could just submit it as my assignment. Apparently, they both really liked it and said the dialogued slapped. So I did!

I procrastinated like hell on it though, because I was very nervous to go back into the PBP with an axe to edit it. Being in a writing class where nearly everyone else has been formally studying writing for some years kinda puts some pressure on ya!

Like the last assignment (which I'll post here after editing), I had a lot of worries. But the feedback and grade I got from my last assignment, the peer review I got from the current one, and also the support from those two friends (shoutout @katastrofish <3) made me feel more confident in myself. And also the fact that I had a lot of fun editing the PBP!

Finan's Birthday: 14 October 2007, 14 October 2008...

...that were drawn on 14 OCtober 2023 and 2022, respectively! I made Finan's in-game birthday the same day I first designed him. So far, for each year, his birthday art is based on whatever whack stuff happened on my birthday.

In 2022, I didn't celebrate it because I had a calculus midterm that night and tomorrow was Monday. But, my friends did give me a piece of banana bread on a paper towel!! And in 2023, my friends tried baking me a brownie in secret, but it was too hot to give me. They tried cooling it with an ice cube first, and then just left it outside in the snow storm/squall. One of my friends also stuck a candle on the snow piling up outside.

It's orientation day for Helvetia's new agents that'll likely die on the job! One team decides to get ice cream before that can happen, but Hrothgar just wants to go home to his 3 kids (it's too hot in Rio and he doesn't like how chummy everyone is)

I convinced the GM @theroyalzealot to make the campaign a hybrid of voice sessions and text-based mini rp sessions/play by posts (or where I basically write short stories lol). So even though the actual first session isn't til the middle of March, we've all entertained ourselves enough. This drawing came out of our first pbp where the group did go out to get ice cream!

^ Very, very important and good internet safety advice. One of these kinds of single parent, insuline donation accounts dropped into my ask box. First thing I did was to check the guy's posts, and they were all Star Wars reblogs made on the same day (that was only a week ago or so).

I do wanna highlight one more thing when it comes to these accounts: why would Tumblr be the first place to go get donations?

Sure, there's a community here, but it's kinda only effective if you've been here a while/already have an audience. It's much more effective to use a site designed for, you know, donation and fundraising. GoFundMe, Kofi, etc.

Why do I highlight this? The account in my ask box had a donation progress bar ($190/$300 or something that makes you go 'they need just a little more) and a link to their Venmo. How would you know for sure that the donation goal is reached? You don't. You just have to blindly trust the guy on the other side. (Sure enough, the same account dropped in a week or two later, and I think the progress bar only incremented by $5 or not at all?)

If you aren't sure, you can always tell the account to host the donation on an actual donation/fundraising site, which would hold the donor accountable and would also accurately track donations with proof. I nearly did this myself, but then decided to not waste my time on what's probably a scam lmao

Stay safe and stay vigilant, yall!

Gentle reminder that people soliciting in your ask box for money very well could be a scam and I recommend that each and every one of you actually MAKE SURE that the account is trustworthy before reblogging it or donating. These people put a lot of effort into trying to look real, and leech off of the good faith of the people on Tumblr in order to receive "donations."

For example, check to see how recently the account was made. This can be done by checking the dates of all their posts/reblogs. If it looks like the account was made extremely recently, and/or if all of their posts/reblogs were made in the same day, then it's probably a scam.

Most of these accounts are described as single minority parents who need insulin (Ex: "I'm a single Native American mother of two who can't afford my insulin...") and typically have a goal of a couple hundred dollars. They also always have a banner of what's SUPPOSED to look like a picture of them with their children. These accounts all follow a format, and again, it's all meant to make the account look real as possible so people don't get suspicious.

I beg of you guys, PLEASE get suspicious. PLEASE investigate these accounts and VERIFY that they're actually who they say they are, and not just TRYING to look real. There are specific signs and you guys NEED to look out for them, because these people rely on your blind trust and good intentions to share these posts around and donate to them. This is the internet, and there are truly some nasty lying bastards out there who will masquerade as ANYONE to get a quick buck.

I just really felt the need to make this post because I myself used to reblog these posts, but then I was made aware of the signs of a scam and now my heart sinks a little whenever I see someone innocently reblogging these posts thinking they're real. There's nothing wrong with wanting to believe these people, but PLEASE look for the signs so you don't get tricked. Please.
