More Bungo Stray Dogs art!

I tried a couple new things with this piece. I had a few art friends suggest I try coloring without lineart, and then adding the lineart later. It did make some cool effects overall, but dang mostly it just made coloring unfun, so I'm not sure that's for me.

I've also been using references from different artists to try and push further boundaries with my colors. I love my stupid intense neon colors, but I'm trying to find other ways to add stuff to the piece too.

[⚠️SEASON 5 BSD SPOILERS⚠️]

Aa a ah ok so i wanna talk about who Mori will pick to join the mafia after the current debacle is over.

First off, i dont think it will be Ranpo, Kyoka or Kenji. Ranpo because he is a detective through and through, he will find a way out and leave the mafia. Kyoka because shes already had her time there and Kenji because he’s just too nice.

Im not as sure it wont be Yosano, for it would be bad writing and she would refuse to work for Mori again no matter what.

That leaves: Dazai, Kunikida, Atsushi and Tanizaki. From least to most likely in my opinion.

Dazai for he was a formidable PM member but Mori was scared of him taking over the mafia (i think) and i dont think he would take him back.

Kunikida’s character arc is looking like he will son take over the ADA, meaning it would ruin the Agency if he was chosen to go to the Mafia but Mori would have no use with him because of his ideals.

Atsushi is tied with Tanizaki on who will get picked.

Both have abilities that would be of great use to the PM. Atsushi with his tiger and partnership with Akutagawa and Tanazaki having been told he’d be a good assassin.

However there is already the BEAST! Manga whsre Atsushi is a PM member so my bet’s on Tanizaki.

Lets talk about Divergent for a second because it was mildly successful for a reason.

SPOILERS FOR ALL THREE BOOKS BELOW.

The sheer level of worldbuilding they explored in the thrid book and then DIDNT MENTION IT AGAIN BECAUSE THEY KILLED OFF THEIR MAIN CHARACTER (might talk about this in a different post).

The whole premise of this dystopian version of Chicago being used as a social experiment to see if they could eliminate the genetic mutations that people had. And the whole reason for them wanting to get rid of the mutations!!

Dauntless lacked fear but that made them lose their fear of death.

Candor was about honesty but they lacked trust in everyone and was very blunt with their words.

Erudite was smart but lacked empathy.

Amity believed in peace to the point where they would refuse to fight or cause any conflict whatsoever.

Abnegation was selfless, but they lacked self worth.

All of these factions are caused by genetic mutations from ancestors but most of them? Most of the people in Chicago were first or only second generation.

Another really cool thing was that every faction had a serum that fit its whole character/genetic mutation backfire.

Amity had peace serum that pacifies people.

Dauntless has fear serum.

Candor has truth serum.

But whats really cool is abnegation and candor’s serums. Memory wiping and death serums (In that order).

And its a funky lil bit of symbolism(?) with them having these related to the faction.

It is directly stated that Erudite people have little to no empathy and to take a human’s life shows this in a funky lil way where they will murder people to get their way or for research, showing a complete lack of care for others.

On the flipside abnegation’s memory serum explores how to be selfless is to have no sense of self, or at least thats the vibe i get from it.

I got this signed card from misha collins in 2014 when I was 16. It’s one of my prized possessions and I carried it with me everywhere. It was in my binder I carried down the halls I got bullied in. This card was when there when I graduated high school. It was there I got to college and decided that I was “too old” for fandom and because I was an English major, I thought no one would take me seriously if they knew I was in fandom. But I still kept this card with me, tucked away in my planner or in my glovebox in my car. It was in my glovebox when I would do entirely too much coke in my car before my 8:00 AM Shakespeare class. It was in my glove box when I drove my car to the bridge I was going to jump off of. It was there when I got out of the psych ward. It was there anytime I cried in my car over school and stress and trying to stay sober. It was there every single therapy appointment. It was there when I let myself back into fandom. It was there when I went on my first date with my now husband. It was there when he proposed, too. It was there on my wedding day. It was there when I bought my first house. It’s been there for lots and lots of things, it’s age showing in his signature fading to the point of being unreadable. I’m sure there’s a metaphor in there somewhere about aging and growing and changing. I cried when I realized I couldn’t read the name he penned all those years ago. I am not who I am when I was 16. I am not who I am when I was 20. But I still love the same things I did when I was 16. I actually love it more now. As his little signature has faded, my love and passion for fandom and fanfic has only grown stronger and it feels like the signature should have grown brighter, too in a way. I wouldn’t be where I am or who I am or doing what I’m doing if it weren’t for him. He really did start this all for me and it hurts more than it should to see his name get lost to time when it’s so ingrained in my heart and in my mind.
