Alrighty, here's my first bit of fanart for 2024! Asha and Starboy from Disney's Wish - more specifically, Wish's concept art :''') I haven't seen the movie, but I think I can confidently say that I would've been more interested in seeing it if they'd kept the romance/soulmate dynamic from the early concepts.
But anyways, here's my take on Star's design, and also a little cheek kiss for Asha! :D Also, I never made an official "Happy New Year" post, so I just wanted to say thank you all for your support in my art and writing endeavours! I hope this year is a kind one for you, and may all your wishes come true <333

whenever someone reads a prequel or a retelling and complains about knowing how it will end since the beginning I'm like. bro. dude. bitch. however you prefer to be referred to.
✨THATS THE FUCKING POINT✨
It's about the tragedy of reading all the ways the characters are unknowingly building towards the very same fate they are so desperately trying to avoid.
ITS ABOUT THE BITTERSWEET JOY OF KNOWING THEIR STORY IS STILL WORTH TELLING.
REGARDLESS OF HOW IT ENDS.
if your story is only good when reading through it the first time? if the reading experience is spoiled by knowing what happens?? (pun fully intended) it's not that well crafted a story imo.
Sometimes it's not about what is going to happen. Sometimes it's about reinterpreting the characters. Sometimes it's about exploring themes through a story we already know.
Sometimes the storytelling is enhanced by knowing how it is going to end.

i love zuko. he's my favourite character (though the others aren't that far behind - he like. inches ahead of them by a small margin) but i've read too many instances where people bastardize aang, katara and sokka for being "mean" to him - something he so rightly deserves.
i mean from the moment they met zuko had tormented them. stalked them. attacked them. destroyed almost everything in his path just to get to aang. aang, sokka and katara are justified in their "mistreatment" and distrust of zuko.
the only reason we sympathize with him is because we saw him go through that transformation, we saw the reason why he is the way that he is, we saw him confront his father and realize that the war is wrong. the last time they saw zuko, he had a chance to join them, and instead he attacked them, joined his sister (who was also attacking and stalking them) and took over ba sing se.
they have every right to treat him the way that they did in the western air temple (and compared to what zuko did to them, there is no competition.)

Okay that Max/GP interview was really good.
They didn’t just ask the “standard” questions and the vibe was so relaxed with cheeky Max out in full force.
-GP thinks of Max as his little brother( someone sedate me)
-They met up on holiday and all I’m saying is where is our holiday selfie???
-Max is competitive even at board games but is always shocked and disappointed of how bad he is at other sports.
-GP is better at paddle is they are playing a short game but Max is better if they do longer ones.
-GP thinks that Max sometimes does get bored when they are comfortably in the lead.
-Hearing about Barcelona 2016 from GP’s pov was really interesting.
-Max also talked a little bit more in depth about doing Le Mans with GP.
-When Nichola mentioned how Max could be a lot to handle at times all I thought about was how GP and Christian has said that Max is one of the easiest people to manage because he’s always honest and means well.
-They mentioned they had some arguments early in their relationship but it’s all good now that they really got to know each other.
-Max was really cheeky and jokey here and I wish more people got to see this side of him more often( as in the casual fans)
10/10 would recommend, pure serotonin to watch and listen to.

Now my question is. Does Cacophonix's reputation as the ultimate gaylord precede him. Does anyone outside of the village know him as Mr. Gay. Is he like Lil Nas X where gays all around the. Area. Look up to him as the gay icon that he is.
Thank you kindly, I LOVE getting asks from you cause they are a perfect excuse for me to draw Cacofonix, and if there's one thing in this fandom I love drawing as much as Gaylois, it's Cacofonix. Here's a little comic inspired by your question since I can't help myself:
I can easily imagine Cacofonix on a big trip, having fun and indulging all of the opportunities and glamour of city life, making friends (lovers? possibly? 😳) easily, courtesy of his charismatic and pleasant demeanor (at least as long as he doesn't try to sing). People obviously aren't fans of his musical talent, or rather a lack thereof, but whenever a stranger happens to recognize him and call him by name he tends to immediately jump to that conclusion and brag about it to his fellow village folks, who clearly aren't buying it, lmao. Admittedly, at the end of the day, being appreciated and recognized for being entertaining, pretty and gay rather than for your art is not the worst position to be in, so he does take it for what it is, though not without a healthy dose of fussing about constantly, no matter where he goes, being "strangely surrounded by people who don't seem to understand art".
Funny that you mention Lil Nas X cause I just made a playlist with my favourite bardcore covers in honor of Cacofonix the Ultimate Gaylord™ and Montero is the first song on it.

I'm gonna be honest I love Dooku: Jedi Lost with my entire heart but I understand dropping it if you read it in the script format because that may be how I talk to myself in my head but if I had not listened to the audio drama it would also fucking mess with my mind

Juno. please do write the essay about howl and majorwood. please
yes. yes! i can do this :D for anyone that doesn't know, i've been using lyrics from "Howl" by Florence + The Machine for several of my mer scott fics, because the song is just so majorwood-coded. to me
so, what i can gather from the song is that it is very much about love, and two people being in love. but it comes across much more as an almost obsession that they have with each other (like not being able to rest until they're with each other etc.) and i feel like that's a lot of the ships that come out of the life series! because the life series itself is a short thing, it doesn't last long, and these relationships explored in fandom are normally very quick for people to get into- so this was the first point i made in my brain. because with the life series, all of the duos/ships/couples- whatever you want to call them, are very intensely reliant on the other most of the time, like, they are in a death game and they have a handful of allies that they are trusting to defend them etc. and allies that they would also defend.
but! that is not the only thing that i associated with it, the biggest association is the use of language that's here: it's all rather violent. the lovers (in the song) are described as hunters. over and over again, a thing that we actually SEE a lot of the time in the life series- every time that the server becomes predominantly red, there is a hunt for the remaining yellows (and we got more than one of these hunts this time!). and it happens pretty much every time! and it's great, i love it, love watching it. because it's like a pack of wolves and they go hunting.
but there is several other instances of violent language being used to describe the love between the two lovers in the song- and this violence lends itself rather well to a feeling of desperation (something that is reflected in the sound of the song itself, actually, which i like). which! that's, again, the whole life series pretty much: desperation! desperation to win, to protect your allies, to not die first- it happens in every single one! it's a common theme, something overarching with the series.
but juno? i hear you ask, how does this relate to majorwood? why choose them and not some other ship? well i am so glad you asked!
scott is fiercely loyal to every single one of his allies- if he chooses you as his closest ally (jimmy in 3l, pearl and cleo in ll, cleo in dl, martyn in this series) he be loyal to you! that's his whole thing (well, not really, but you get what i mean) the guy is loyal! and he's good at that.
and martyn! his whole thing is being selfish, at the end (as we see rather nicely in the finale, but he's also done it in previous series as well. this isn't a new thing for him) but he also cares about his allies. he cares about them a LOT. in all of his series he cares about his allies- that love, that isn't quite loyalty, is the major reason i associate this song with them. because the song is about young love, and i am no way near an expert on love hdsjhdsj (<- aroace) but a lot of the time young love is portrayed as something rather intense and almost obsessive, something that florence leans into with this song 100%
i. am not sure if that makes sense of if it's just the ramblings of a person that has thought about this for far far too long- but yeah! listen to howl :] it's a great song
