My biggest achilles heel in writing is tense. Especially cause the MORE i try to check and edit for it, the more i end up actually fucking up correct grammar into incorrect grammar. Whereas when i initally write, the Less i think about the tense the more normal and correct it comes out written. ;-;

If i need an editor for anything later, itll be checking tense was consistent ;-;

I normally do present tense (see ALL my recent fanfics on ao3 softcorevulcan, Hunger Games is also written this way with as many 'say/says' as I use), with past tense for people recalling a past event or having a flashback or memory (as in "he remembered when he was small, the baker left bread out on the back counter. Shen Wei would rush for it the instant the yard was empty, then bring it home to Ye Zun. When Ye Zun asked the firsr time, where his brother got it, Shen Wei said "...."). Which works fine except occasionally the (fairly normal) mistake will happen where a memory is over but I forget to switch back to present tense. But the more annoying error is that if I start going back to edit, i sometimes psyche myself out and try to correct everything to present tense... then fuck up and turn a memory/recalled event into present tense, then thats Tons of verb tenses and whole pages of scenes I end up fucking up ;-;
