Thyme
Thymus vulgaris | Thymus serpyllum
Known as: Common thyme & garden thyme
Related plants: There are hundreds of species of thyme. Some members of the genus thymus are aromatic evergreen herbs in the mint family Lamiaceae (Like shown) that include basil, mint, rosemary, sage, savory, marjoram, oregano, hyssop lavender, catnip, bee balm, salvia, wild dagga, oriental motherwort & perilla
Parts used : Leaves
Habitat and cultivation: This shrub is native to southern Europe from the western Mediterranean to southern Italy. It thrives in medium-dry, sandy, loose & well drained soils.
Plant type: Perennial
Region: 2-10 with zones below 5 using both mulch and protections from frost damage.
Harvest: Anytime
Growing tips: This plant does the best in full sun in a well draining container. Like rosemary, it is very hard to grow from seed and therefore should look into cuttings or getting a starter plant from a nursery. I highly recommend lemon thyme.
Medicinal information: Thyme contains the compound thymol, which can help control or neutralize some bacterial, parasitic, fungal, or viral infections and have  anti-inflammatory properties.  been used to strengthen the lungs, purge the body of  phlegm, as a remedy for shortness of breath, to kill worms. It was applied as an ointment to remove “hot swellings” and warts, and to ease pains in the spleen, the loins, and hips.
Cautions: Fresh and dried thyme is generally safe to eat or drink as a refreshing tea. But essential oils are different. They’re highly concentrated and can be toxic in their undiluted form. Ingesting too much thyme in essential oil could cause a risky drop in your blood pressure.
Magickal properties
Gender: Feminine
Planet: Venus
Element: Water
Deities: Faeries
Magical uses:
• Place under your pillow to prevent nightmares & to ensure a restful night's sleep

With cold and flu season fast approaching, I want to post herbal recipes I am finding. These are not mine, and not medical advice!!!
Plant Origins of Thieves Oil
Clove: clove buds originate from the evergreen tree Syzygium aromaticum or Eugenia caryophyllata. These flower buds contain up to 20 percent essential oil, and are incredibly pungent, thanks to the major active chemical component called eugenol.
Rosemary: rosemary is a popular herb that comes from a small evergreen plant that belong to the mint family. It is native to the Mediterranean region, and possesses strong anti-inflammatory properties .
Eucalyptus: eucalyptus trees are native to Australia, Tasmania, and nearby islands. They’re the popular plant exclusively enjoyed by koala bears, and come in many different species. The oil is derived from the leaf of the eucalyptus tree, and is commonly used in cold remedies.
Cinnamon: cinnamon oil and the dried spice cinnamon both come from the bark of the true cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum zeylanicum). Essential oils that come from the leaf, bark and root of the cinnamon tree are much different, but the most common used version in Thieves oil is the cinnamon leaf. The active component in cinnamon bark essential oil is cinnamaldehyde.
Lemon: lemons come from a small tree in the Rutacea family. Lemon essential oil is derived by cold-pressing the peel of the lemon fruit, which is rich in different phytonutrients and beneficial compounds.
Thieves Oil Recipe
As long as you have all of the necessary essential oils on hand, you can easily make your own version of Thieves oil at home.
Ingredients: Master Blend
80 drops of clove essential oil
70 drops of lemon essential oil
40 drops of cinnamon essential oil
30 drops of eucalyptus essential oil
20 drops of rosemary essential oil
Method:
Combine all of the above essential oils in a dark amber coloured 15 milliliter (0.5 fluid ounce) glass bottle. Make sure you store it a cool, dry place, away from heat and light.
Benefits and Uses of Thieves Oil
This thieves oil recipe can be used to address certain health ailments, check out the benefits and uses below! Not medical advice
1. Relief from Aches and Pains
This Thieves oil recipe is loaded with plenty of anti-inflammatories to ease muscular and joint aches and pains. Rosemary and eucalyptus oil have actually been found to relieve rheumatoid arthritis, as well as muscle and joint aches and pains. You can dilute Thieves oil in a carrier oil (like jojoba oil, almond oil or grapeseed oil) to be used topically on the ache or pain. Typically the ratio is 1 drop essential oil to 4 drops carrier oil.
2. Immune System Support
Thieves oil was used to protect the “thieves” from the Black Plague, so you can be rest-assured that this oil provides some hefty immune support. Clove and rosemary essential oils are powerful antibacterials and anti-fungals. They’ve both been shown to have significant anti-microbial effects against dangerous bacteria like Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans.
Massage the blend on your feet, lower back, neck and behind your ears for daily immune support. You can also diffuse Thieves oil to allow the essential oil molecules to enter your blood stream after they’ve entered your lungs! To get Thieves oil into your lungs is to diffuse the oil in a diffuser. Diffuse 15-20 drops of Thieves oil for 15 minutes, 3-4 times a day.
By live life fruit.

Researchers discover eco-friendly fungicide alternative
A material that could replace current fungicides (i.e., anti-fungal pesticides), increase food security, and help protect wildlife has been discovered. A recent investigation undertaken by Pesticide Action Network (PAN) revealed that the UK is still using 36 harmful pesticides that have been banned in other European countries, with 13 described as "highly hazardous" that have links to water contamination, cancer, infertility, and other illnesses. Published in Green Chemistry, researchers at the University of Nottingham have completed a successful field trial of a material they have developed to help to protect crops from fungi. Simon Avery, professor of eukaryotic microbiology in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, said, "The test material is not toxic but works by passively resisting attachment of fungal spores to protect surfaces from fungal infection, including crop surfaces. Results from this first field trial with wheat are particularly encouraging as there is a lot of scope to optimize further the material properties for crop protection."

Abernethy Forest, Scotland, August 2023
Birch polypore (Fomitopsis betulina)
This amazing fungus has been used for thousands of years as medicine for the immune system, as antiseptic bandages, as tinder, and even to sharpen razors.
It has a number of incredible properties, including being an antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal. It also contains betulinic acid, which can cause the destruction of cancer cells while not affecting healthy cells.
The one in the first picture is the perfect age for harvesting - young, not yet tough, and not yet opened out into a large hoof- or shelf-shaped body.
I dried out these young ones on a sunny windowsill and will be using them to make tea.

[Notes will be copied to further posts, considering they're all the same facts]
Notes:
These are giant fields. They are meant to fill empty space in CAW/Edit town - you can use them on lots, but as stated they are quite large so if you decide to use them as lot decoration hold onto your hat because they're gonna take up a chunk of ground.
I will be making smaller/single plants to match the fields, but it takes time so please be patient.
These are speedtree plants, so they'll "follow you" when you move around. However consider that any recolors of these plants will become a default replacement unless you make the package unique. So if you would like to recolor them to suit your current world, feel free to, but please make it it's own package so they don't override the original.
These are fairly large but have low polycount - coming in at 330 polys each. That means you can have several of these in one area without weighing down your game too much. That's a win for everyone.
Please feel free to tag me if you use them in your world, I love to see them in your games! <3
Throw these in your castle gardens and make all the medieval peasants jealous! lol
Enjoy!

Lamb's Ear - Stachys Byzantina
Basic Plant Facts and Care:

Tumblr media
Family: Lamiaceae (Mint family) Native to: Middle East, Armenia, Iran and Turkey Sun needs: Sun-loving! Full sun to part shade Water needs: One good watering per week, drought tolerant. Overwatering very bad! Soil needs: Well-draining, evenly moist to dry soil. Slightly acidic (6.0–6.5 pH) Feeding needs: Doesn't need feeding Seeds & Growth: Barely cover seeds. Best way to grow is by dividing (they naturally propogate on their own). Spreads by underground shoots. Edibility: Edible and can be used in teas, tinctures and infusions. Young, fresh leaves are best for eating. Mild taste others describe as "fruity" or like apples. (I've nibbled on a leaf but idk about the taste. May try in a salad eventually). Warnings: Possible interactions with blood pressure medications
Medicinal Uses: Infusions of dried leaves are good for colds, fevers, diarrhea, sore mouth, gum and throat infections, and asthma. Crush and wrap over bee or wasp stings  or insect bites to reduce pain and swelling.  Historically used for dressing wounds, particularly on the battlefield - absorbs blood and helps it to clot quickly and the antibacterial, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties are bonuses so this makes the leaves a great alternative to store-bought bandages. Cybertronian Medical History Speculation
I wonder what folk medicine type remedies might exist on Cybertron?
How many of these remedies (if there are any) might actually be effective?
Did any of the Primes leave behind information on health and care, for the sake of the then-new population? (I feel like Alchemist Prime and/or Quintus Prime may have been into this kind of thing, possibly.)
As Cybertronians developed as a people/species, did they discover various things while initially exploring and expanding across the planet, accumulating knowledge on a very gradual basis as humans did?
For example, rosemary is featured in a lot of old medical records in Europe because when concentrated into a tincture or essential oil, it can have antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties.
Even if people didn’t understand the mechanism of why rosemary was sometimes helpful at the time, they observed that rosemary seemed to do at least a couple good things, and often used it as a mild astringent and for general personal hygiene. It was commonly found and easy to make, and so widespread that any positive or successful uses had plenty of opportunity to be observed.
Cybertron may not have too much in the way of what we’d consider plants, but we do know that crystals of various types grow naturally in clusters on Cybertron.
Would some of these crystals contain elements or materials that could be used in a similar way to making herbal astringents or other useful things for medical use?
What about any natural metals found on Cybertron?
The reason why copper was, for a time, a very popular metal for medical tools is because copper has antimicrobial properties, and even if people at the time didn’t understand why copper tools seemed to work well, we did eventually gain the ability to prove that copper does potentially have some benefits in certain applications.
The Reading Museum here in England has an example of copper alloy plates being used to hold a poultice against a damaged bone, found in a Medieval set of remains. There was some understanding that copper was a metal that seemed to work better for this kind of thing, although they may not have understood exactly why.
I would think that on Cybertron, some things that used to be considered archaic or folk medicine-type remedies may have eventually been proven as being effective to at least some degree or for certain uses, and just like with humans on Earth, may have led to the development of even more effective medicines etc. over time, as their knowledge grew.
Ratchet (in TFP’s timeline at least) is old enough that he may very well have started out learning and using some of the possibly archaic/folk remedies and materials, then as medical science developed, so did his own medical practice.
I just woke up so this may not be super coherent lmao, but it’s fun to think about.
