On a whim and because I was momentarily taken by a new fandom I had made a requests accepted fic where I took in requests. From a few requests I wrote I got two requests from the same person and wrote them but they were so annoying because all the response I got was "I want this to be longer"
That was something that added to me eventually not being as into the fandom anymore and so I haven't written the other requests for a long while.
It's part many things and is also because the fandom is very very new so the characters' personalities aren't that known yet so I'm not quite sure how to characterize them in my writing. So I feel a bit guilty about not writing the other requests and regret completing the request of the disrespectful person first, I didn't know they'd be like that until they commented that reaction to what I wrote.
Sorry for the ramble but TLDR how does a writer handle feelings of guilt from not completing requests quickly? Like I think it's been months now.
... and it's been even more months since you dropped this ask in my inbox, sorry!
To start with, I'm just going to flag for folks that you should not post "I'm taking requests" works on AO3. It's against the Terms of Service, so if it gets reported, the PAC team will ask you to remove it. You don't say here where you posted yours, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on that count.
I'm really sorry that your experience with writing for requests went kind of sour on you. That's never a fun time. I can see how it would sour you on the practice, especially in conjunction with the fandom being new and the characters still not very fleshed out.
When it comes to disappointing people, you kind of have to pick your battles. Human beings these days encounter thousands of people in any given week, thanks to the internet, and we can't hold ourselves to the same standards of caring for a person we've interacted with one via a screen and the people we've built up relationships with.
That isn't to say it's alright to be a dick to people. Wil Wheaton has been very clear about that. It's just that carrying guilt over something you haven't done for a stranger is very different from carrying guilt over something you haven't done for your partner or your best friend.
In my experience, the best way to move forward is just to reply to the message that gave you the request and say, "I'm sorry, I don't think I can work on this right now. Please feel free to share it with another author." You can add in that you hope they find someone. You can change the "right now" to "after all". You can make the message as long or as short as you want, but just include those 2 ideas:
I'm not going to fulfill this request
if you're still wanting to read this thing, ask someone else to write it (or write it yourself)
The guilt is because you know that someone wanted a story and they haven't received it. What you don't know is whether they still want that story, whether they specifically want it from you and only you, and to what degree they were invested in the idea versus just throwing something out there on a whim.
If you do still want to write the stories, remember that fandom is a hobby not a job. Fic requests aren't assignments. You don't have any due dates. Inspiration comes and goes as it pleases, and sometimes we bite off more than we can chew.
Be kind to yourself, anon. Write the stories that interest you. Give away the ones that don't. Allow yourself the time you need to finish what you want to do. 💗

Well, I think I'm about done. It's not perfect, and I don't think I can make it such, with my skills and the design of the model I used. But it's what I can do.
The whole project has been A Struggle. The process being as follows:
Find 3D model online
Try to find someone to print it for me. Fail.
End up purchasing my own 3D printer.
Learn how to 3D print. Including figuring out resin and printer settings, supports, positioning, washing, curing, etc. Spend a whole three-day weekend trying to get a proper print. Each print take 4-8 hours depending on how I've sliced it. Multiple failures occur because I don't really know how to 3D print. Finally, after three days, have a print I can work with.
Use air-cure epoxy, a dremel, and pieces scavenged from failed prints to try to bring the model closer to accurate. While I am deeply thankful that someone made the 3D model, they clearly did so using a few photos and screenshots. There are multiple pattern errors. A whole sun is missing, and his little tail tip, too. Understandable mistakes made by someone who isn't quite Obsessed enough to go fishing for details.
I can fix some of this to a point, but it looks imperfect, and I can't fix some patterns being in the wrong order. I do my best. There is resin and epoxy dust everywhere.
Finally finish editing the model to the best of my ability. Start trying to apply color. Try gold leaf - fail. Try various gold paints - wrong hue, not shiny enough. Use an absurd amount of acetone to remove paint over and over. Finally settle on Montana Gold goldchrome spray; it has an almost mirror reflective finish, isn't weirdly yellow, and is the closest to the gorgeous artbook rendering I could find.
So. Now we're done. It's been like... two weeks? I am tired. And I have some more metallic paint on the way, so depending on how that compares to what I've got now, I may be stripping him and repainting again. But maybe not. The current paint isn't terrible.
Anyway. It was A Process. I hated it.
But I do think that the little bastard was worth it.

User poll!! Please give us your feedback users!!!
Carter Kane
"We only have a few hours, so listen carefully. If you're hearing this story, you're already in danger. Sadie and I might be your only chance.
Go to the school. Find the locker. I won't tell you which school or which locker, because if you're the right person, you'll find it. The combination is 13/32/33. By the time you finish listening, you'll know what those numbers mean. Just remember the story we're about to tell you isn't complete yet. How it ends will depend on you."
Lester Papadopoulos (Apollo)
"My name is Apollo. I used to be a god.
In my four thousand six hundred and twelve years, I have done many things. I nflicted a plague on the Greeks who besieged Troy. I blessed Babe Ruth with three home runs in game four of the 1926 World Series. I visited my wrath upon Britney Spears at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards.
But in all my immortal life, I never before crash landed in a Dumpster."
Percy Jackson
"Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood.
If you're reading this because you think you might be one, my advice is: close this book right now. Believe whatever lie your mom or dad told you about your birth, and try to lead a normal life.
Being a Half-blood is Dangerous. It's scary. Most of the time, it gets you killed in painful, nasty ways.
if you're a normal kid, reading this because you think it's fiction, great. Read on. I envy you for being able to believe that none of this ever happened."
Magnus Chase
"Yeah, I know. You guys are going to read about how I died in agony, and you're going to be like, "Wow! That sounds cool, Magnus! Can I die in agony too?"
no. Just no.
Don't go jumping off any rooftops. Don't run into the highway or set yourself on fire. It doesn't work that way. You will not end up where I ended up."
Jason Grace (third person perspective)
"Even before he got electrocuted, Jason was having a rotten day.
He woke in the backseat of a school bus, not sure where he was, holding hands with a girl he didn't know. That wasn't necessarily the rotten part. The girl was cute, but he couldn't figure out who she was or what he was doing there. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, trying to think."

Seeing that one reblog of yours about the manhwa I Became The Male Lead's Adopted Daughter really intrigued me! Is it a good one? 👀
Funny story about that, after your reblog brought the post to my attention again and after talking with a friend on discord about stories that subvert tropes I just went back and reread that entire manhwa up to the end of season 2 so this is great timing XD. Im summary: It's absolutely worth your time if you're a fan of father/isekaied daughter fantasy, if you're an isekai manhwa fan in general, or if you just want a well made fantasy father daughter story. Its fantastical concepts are handled with a grounded maturity that most stories in the same genre just don't manage to pull off because it takes the time to truly flesh out its characters as human being first and any tropes last.
The long story is below the cut, I'll be discussing vague spoilers throughout seasons 1 and 2. (side note, im using the official TL names for this bc i like em better)
I Became the Male Lead's daughter has a lot going for it, first of which being Pelliot, the cold duke of the north who adopts Lionia from the orphanage. Most manhwa of this nature have the isekaied person be our main pov with brief glimpses into the parent's perspective, usually done more for plots sake or to comment on how strange the isekaied child is acting. Pelliot shares the protagonist spotlight with Lionia because this story is about both of them concurrently- in fact, we don't even get a look int Lionia's head to find out she's been isekaied until chapter 8(i think, either way its after chapter 5). Before that we get to know her from how Pelliot and the people at the estate see her. Which is such a refreshing take for me, especially when you consider that Pelliot while a stereotypical "violent and competent northern duke who becomes a parent" in theory, is actually played out in a grounded way. The reason he even wanted a child is because he's feeling lonely and he sees how his best friend (yes!! our cold duke has friendships!! and they're super sweet!!) is so happy with 2 children, that he goes about getting a child in the most pragmatic way possible. He is violent and regularly commits war crimes, but he isn't cruel to his staff or his knights as is standard fair for these archetypes. (Can't say the manhwa avoids classist tropes, but such is the way when you have noble protagonists and don't want to make them look complicit in a degrading class system but overall things are handled well enough in that regard). Pelliot, in his fatherhood, also avoids falling into trope traps yet again by being a very believable first time parent. He struggles to adjust to Lionia's emotional needs but is learning, he goes to his knights for advice, he's studying Lionia and trying to make sure she gets a proper childhood and does his best to protect her from further exposure to violence beyond what happens with the abusive orphanage staff. They have a believable banter and play off each other to a scary degree, and while he loves her and worries for her he isn't an overbearing protective trope either. I feel like this is already too long but like. He's such a cool protag to have in a genre that tends to have very narrow and singular dynamics of parent/child relationships. And this isn't even talking about the other relationships we see him have with his peers which are just as good.
Moving onto our other protagonist, Lionia, the post made by @living-as-the-enemy-prince HERE (which clearly you have read but in case other curious souls want to look at it) sums a large part of what makes her work. This is a story that fully realizes its concept to the most effective degree. And I love in turn the story addresses the trauma that comes with being reincarnated- not only from a "i miss my home and family and friends" but from the inherent trauma of being an adult only to one day become a child. Lionia didn't get a chance to rest, she was thrown into a life of abuse, all her agency stolen from her, forced to look after the other orphans because she was the only one who could thus she felt responsible. That sort of disruptive event isn't something that can be brushed off, and it shows in the way Lionia is deeply insecure about her relationship to Pelliot. In this way their dynamic is made equivalent from both sides- in many stories its almost one sided, with the parent figuring out this relationship naturally and the isekaied child playing things 'for the story' and only recognizing the relationship theyve built later (thank you wmmap for helping solidify that -_-). It's truly so well thought out and every aspect of the central relationship feels so natural.
As for the story at large, I'm very excited to see what the plot has in store. As of season 2 of the manhwa, we're only just starting to kick things off plot wise, up until now its been far more concerned with relationship building and giving us a foundation on these characters. But things are definitely cooking now that we've heard mention Baria- the protagonist of the novel Lionia read in her past life (I could probably write another blurb about how well that is being handled but this post is so long already so). On that note though, don't be worried about that "oh but i have to follow the original plot against all common sense and reason" trope bc that doesn't matter at all here. Lionia has her concerns when it comes to the story, some of her insecurities stem from the fact that Pelliot never had a daughter in it, mentioned or otherwise, but at the end of the day she doesn't give a shit, she just wants her dad to have a happy and peaceful life.
Tbh anyone who hasn't read this should absolutely give it a chance bc I haven't even mentioned half the things I find cool about it like all the side characters that I love or the empress storyline that I am eyeing with extreme interest, etc etc

Beauty Gyu(ru)
genre:fluff
wc:3.33k(I know it's long but give it a chance T-T)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ever since you were little, you would find yourself going through your mother's stash of whatever little makeup she had.
You didn't have to sneak around because she wasn't big into makeup; she only had the basics. And she was cool with you trying it out.
Your mother allowed you to explore whatever you wanted to do.
She never held you back.
So as you grew up and started earning money, and applying for part-time jobs, she was very supportive of it. When you got your first salary, the first thing you spent it on was makeup.
Your best friend Gyu whom you’ve known from high school was no stranger to this. Every time he would meet up with you, you always had makeup on even though he had told you many times that you didn't need it, you looked beautiful with or without it.
But you always said that you wanted to take every opportunity you had to use your makeup since you were still studying and didn't get to do it often.
Your skills over the years got better as you always practiced whenever you could. But you were getting tired of doing makeup on yourself. You asked Gyu whether you could do makeup on him, and begged him even because you knew you would do a good job plus he was already good-looking, but he always refused, saying that it wasn't manly for a man to have makeup on.
Now that you are in college, you've made more friends. And since he was so adamant about not having makeup on him, you decided to ask your other best friend, Yeonjun, to come over whenever he was free so that he could be your makeup dummy, which he was happy to help you with.
You met Yeonjun in your first year of college and you guys just sort of clicked. Whatever you wanted to do, he was always on for a new challenge, one of which was being your makeup test subject. Being an only child, he often indulged your requests, treating you like his little sister, and finding it hard to refuse you.
He would even sometimes ask his friends to come with him so that you had more makeup dummies to work with.
Tumblr media
With now being term-break, you had ample time to practice. You'd already arranged for Yeonjun to visit, and you even suggested he bring his friends along for extra practice.
However, you hadn't informed Gyu about it, deeming it inconsequential since he isn't fond of having makeup applied.
You heard your phone buzz with a notification and went to see who it was. It turned out to be Gyu asking, "What are you up to today?"
'Yeonjun and his friends today are coming over at 1 pm for me to practice putting makeup on.'
'It'll just be you guys in your house?' Gyu texted back.
'Yeah, mum isn't home today, so I have the whole house to myself with the boys today.'
'Hmm, okay have fun!'
Despite Gyu's seemingly casual reply, he was far from fine. Quickly, he jumped into the shower before heading over to your house. He felt uneasy about leaving his pretty best friend alone with four men in her house without him there.
He had met Yeonjun's friends previously when they were over for their makeup sessions with you. He couldn't help but overhear their comments about your beauty when you weren't around. This made him increasingly wary of them, especially since they were all good-looking.
"ding-dong", you heard your doorbell ring. You saw the time but it wasn't even 1 yet.
Were they that excited to have their makeup done by you?
To your surprise, when you opened the door, you were greeted with dark brown boba eyes staring right back at you.
"Gyu? What brings you here?" you asked, surprised to see him so soon after your last meeting.
"I just missed my best friend," he said with a sheepish grin.
"But we saw each other yesterday," you replied, raising an eyebrow at his sudden appearance.
"Yeah, well, a day without seeing you feels like an eternity," he joked, trying to brush off his underlying unease about leaving you alone with Yeonjun and his friends.
"You do realize it's makeup day, right? So it might get a bit boring for you today since I won't have much time to spend with you," you mentioned, feeling a bit apologetic.
Gyu chuckled. "Nah, I'm not worried about that. I'm just here to chill. Maybe I'll catch up on some reading or something," he replied casually, shrugging off any concerns about being bored.
You couldn't help but chuckle at his reply, finding it amusing considering you've never witnessed Gyu with a book in hand throughout your entire friendship.
It seemed like he was more interested in simply being there with you than in finding any actual activity to occupy his time.
Trying to change the subject, Gyu suggested, "Should we grab some food? You haven't eaten yet, right?"
You were about to reply when you had a different idea. "Oh, I was thinking that we can order the food when the rest gets here."
As if they were listening to your conversation, the doorbell rang, signaling the arrival of Yeonjun and his friends.
As you were about to head towards the door, Gyu beat you to it and swung it open. The boys had a surprised expression on their faces at first, but they quickly recovered and exchanged bro hugs with Gyu before entering.
You couldn't help but wonder, "When did they get so close?"
Yeonjun and his friends also exchanged hugs with you, reminiscing about the time you spent practicing makeup together, which had brought you all closer.
Gyu forced a smile through gritted teeth, feeling uneasy about other guys touching you. Yet, he reminded himself that you weren't in a relationship, so he had no grounds to feel upset. After all, you weren't his to claim.
"Okay, before we get started with the makeup session, let's fuel up! What's everyone craving for lunch?" you asked, scanning the group.
"Hmm, maybe ramen or pizza?" Yeonjun offered.
"Pizza sounds perfect," Gyu's voice rang out amidst the discussion.
"Great! Pizza it is then. Any objections?" you confirmed, looking around the room.
"Nope, pizza works for me," they all chimed in together, their collective approval sealing the lunch choice.
With the decision made, you quickly grabbed your phone and placed the pizza order, ensuring that everyone's preferences were taken into account.
Tumblr media
"Let's get started, shall we? While I work on Taehyunnie's makeup first, you guys can entertain yourselves. Gyu, maybe you can play some video games with them? I've heard they're not bad," you suggested.
Gyu nodded and reached for your Switch, knowing its usual spot since he had been over many times before. With only one Switch available, Gyu generously let Yeonjun and Soobin have the first round while he and Huening watched them play.
But Gyu found it increasingly hard to focus on the game. His attention kept drifting back to you and Taehyun. He couldn't help but notice the tenderness in your actions—the gentle way you brushed Taehyun's hair away from his face, ensuring each touch was delicate as you applied the foundation.
Watching you work, Gyu couldn't ignore the meticulous care you took, avoiding applying too much pressure as you blended the foundation flawlessly into Taehyun's skin.
It was clear that your attention to detail and nurturing touch went beyond mere professionalism, hinting at a deeper connection between you and Taehyun.
As he continued to observe, Gyu's internal turmoil intensified. He struggled to come to terms with his feelings of jealousy and insecurity, especially considering Taehyun's striking resemblance to your ideal type.
With his big eyes, small face, and chiseled jawline, not to mention his well-defined physique from working out, Taehyun seemed to embody everything you found attractive.
While you couldn't deny that Taehyun checked a lot of boxes on your ideal type list, you couldn't help but feel he was out of your league. With his striking looks, you imagined he probably had countless admirers fawning over him. Consequently, you resigned yourself to the idea that you didn't stand a chance.
Tumblr media
"All done. What do you think Taehyunnie? Does it look good?" you asked, hoping for a positive response from Taehyunnie as you awaited his opinion on the finished makeup look.
"Wow, you are good at this. I look so different now, in a good way. You've got the skills to become a makeup artist at this point," Taehyun remarked, clearly impressed by the transformation you had achieved with your expertise.
"Ah, you flatter me too much, but thank you," you replied with a grateful smile. Turning to Taehyun, you added, "Could you help me call Huening? It's his turn now." with that he went to get Heuning.
Tumblr media
"Ah, I'm so excited, Noona! What makeup style are you going to do for me today?" Huening exclaimed eagerly, his eyes shining with anticipation.
"Maybe something that will make you look out of this world, like an angel," you suggested with a playful grin.
"Oh, because you think I'm an angel, Noona?" Huening flirted back, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes.
You couldn't help but laugh at his playful flirtation, finding it endearing yet slightly surprising. "Yah, what are you trying to do? I'm older than you, you know?" you teased, trying to maintain the dynamic of being the older sister figure while acknowledging his charm.
"Eh, Noona, haven't you heard? Age is just a number," Huening replied with a grin, his tone light and teasing. "If you like me and I like you, then there's no problem, right?"
You were taken aback by his boldness, unsure if he was serious or just playing along. "It's just a joke, Noona. Don't need to show it on your face that you don't like me that way," he quickly added, sensing your surprise.
You chuckled nervously, trying to brush off the unexpected turn in conversation. "Yeah, yeah, just kidding, right? Let's focus on your makeup now," you said, attempting to steer the conversation back to safer territory.
You did your best to push the conversation with Huening out of your mind, unaware that Gyu had overheard the entire exchange.
As Gyu sat there, feeling increasingly unsettled, he was oblivious to the fact that the other boys were watching his reaction closely. Little did he know, they had already picked up on his feelings for you and had hatched a plan to stir things up even more.
Before Huening went over to you for the makeup session, they had encouraged him to flirt with you, knowing it would likely provoke a reaction from Gyu. It was their way of nudging Gyu to confront his feelings and take action, rather than letting them simmer beneath the surface.
Unaware of the boys' intentions, Gyu felt a surge of anxiety and uncertainty as he grappled with what to do next, his emotions swirling in turmoil. He knew he couldn't ignore his feelings for you any longer, but he wasn't sure if he was ready to confront them either.
As it became Soobin's turn for makeup, Gyu's concern heightened. He couldn't shake the feeling that whenever Soobin was around, your attention gravitated towards him, leaving Gyu feeling sidelined.
Soobin's innocent appearance, coupled with his tall stature and undeniable good looks, only added to Gyu's uneasiness.
Despite Soobin's friendly demeanor, Gyu couldn't help but wonder about his true intentions, given the close bond you shared.
Watching as Soobin settled in for his makeup session, Gyu felt a pang of jealousy stir within him. He knew he needed to address his feelings, but the prospect left him feeling both anxious and uncertain.
As the session progressed, he found himself wrestling with his emotions, unsure of how to navigate the complex dynamics at play.
What pushed him over the edge was when the makeup session with Soobin concluded. Soobin, impressed with the results, requested a photo with you to showcase your makeup skills.
But what got to Gyu was when Soobin playfully asked you to poke his dimple in the photo, suggesting it as evidence of your close friendship in case you made it big.
Seeing this interaction unfold, he felt a surge of jealousy and insecurity wash over him. It was clear to him that Soobin felt comfortable enough to initiate such playful gestures with you,
As he watched from the sidelines, Gyu couldn't shake the feeling that he was being sidelined in your relationship with Soobin.
Tumblr media
Before you started on Yeonjun's makeup, he spilled the beans about their plan to make Gyu jealous, you couldn't help but feel a mixture of shock and disbelief. Gyu liked you?
It seemed absurd and surreal to you, something straight out of a teen drama. But as Yeonjun pointed out the unusual behaviors of Heuning and Soobin, you couldn't ignore the nagging suspicion that there might be some truth to his words.
Deciding to follow Yeonjun's suggestion, you put on the happiest laugh you could muster, watching with anticipation as Gyu's reaction unfolded. Sure enough, the door suddenly flung open, revealing Gyu standing there, his expression unreadable.
"Yah, get out, Yeonjun. It's my turn," Gyu said curtly, dismissing Yeonjun with a stern tone.
Feeling a pang of guilt, you glanced at Yeonjun, who offered you a reassuring smile and a knowing look. It was as if he was saying, "It's okay, I told you this would happen."
"Heh, Gyu? Your turn? What are you talking about? I thought you never wanted me to do makeup on you because you said it wasn't manly," you asked Gyu in surprise.
"I changed my mind. After seeing how all the other guys turned out, I thought I should give in to your request," Gyu replied as he sat down in your makeup chair, catching you off guard.
Feeling a mix of shock and curiosity, you began the skin prep on Gyu's flawless complexion, sharing a brief moment of eye contact between you two. Before the silence could grow too awkward, Gyu spoke up.
"So, what was so funny that even with the door closed, I could hear your laugh?" he asked, his tone casual as you started applying foundation.
"Oh, it was just that Yeonjun said something really funny that I couldn't help but laugh," you replied, trying to keep things light.
Gyu's curiosity seemed piqued as he probed further, "Oh... what did he say?"
Caught off guard and unable to come up with a plausible excuse, you hesitated before deciding to tell him the truth—that the boys had suggested he liked you.
Gyu stopped in his tracks, his eyes widening, and you feared you might have said something wrong. "You okay, Gyu?" you asked, now working on his eyeshadow.
Gyu's cheeks began to flush, turning a shade of red that resembled blush. Concerned, you reached out to feel his forehead for signs of fever, but he surprised you by grabbing your hand, causing you to look up at him in surprise.
"They are right..." Gyu's voice was barely above a whisper, his arm covering his mouth as he averted his gaze.
Gyu's admission caught you completely off guard. His words hung in the air, heavy with unspoken implications. You felt your heart skip a beat as you tried to process what he had just confessed.
"Honestly, I couldn't stand it when I saw them hug you when they first came here. And the way you were touching their faces when you had to apply makeup... I wanted to be the only person your pretty hands touched, no one else," Gyu confessed, his voice filled with raw honesty.
You were at a loss for words, overwhelmed by the depth of Gyu's emotions. His confession laid bare his feelings for you, and you couldn't ignore the flutter of warmth it ignited in your chest.
As you looked into Gyu's eyes, you saw a mixture of apprehension and hope, silently pleading for understanding and acceptance. And in that moment, you knew that things between you and Gyu would never be the same again.
"How long have you liked me?" you asked Gyu, your voice barely above a whisper as you continued to apply lipstick to his lips.
"From before you asked me whether you could put makeup on me. That's why ever since the first time you asked me whether you could put makeup on me," Gyu confessed, his gaze softening as he looked at you.
You paused, taken aback by his admission. "I denied it, saying that stupid excuse that it isn't manly for men to put on makeup, but I could care less about that," Gyu continued, his tone laced with regret. "I was just afraid that I wouldn't be able to help myself if we were in such close contact, therefore always turning you down when you asked."
As his words sank in, you felt a mix of emotions wash over you—surprise, confusion, and a glimmer of hope. "And yeah, I came over today because I didn't want you to be alone with all the good-looking guys in your house," Gyu admitted, his voice tinged with vulnerability.
His honesty left you speechless, your heart pounding in your chest as you grappled with the realization that Gyu had harbored feelings for you all this time. And as you looked into his eyes, you couldn't deny the spark of something more between you, waiting to be explored.
As you reflected on your feelings for Gyu, a sense of warmth flooded your heart. It was endearing to see how he had been jealous of you, even though you weren't officially together. The truth was, you had never pursued a relationship with anyone else because deep down, you had always hoped that something would blossom between you and Gyu. His presence filled your thoughts, and you couldn't imagine being with anyone else.
Thinking back on the countless moments you had shared with Gyu—playing video games, laughing together, and simply enjoying each other's company—you realized just how much he meant to you. His loudness had become a comforting familiarity, and his absence would leave a void you couldn't bear to fill with anyone else.
With a rush of emotion, you leaned in to kiss Gyu, savoring the strawberry scent of his stained lips. But instead of pulling away, Gyu surprised you by pulling you onto his lap and deepening the kiss.
It was as if he had been waiting for this moment for so long, finally embracing you in his arms, fulfilling a longing he had carried for what felt like an eternity.
And in that moment, as you melted into his embrace, you knew that this was where you were meant to be—wrapped in Gyu's arms, lost in a love that had been waiting to bloom.
As you both pulled away to catch your breath, you couldn't help but notice the smeared lipstick on the side of Gyu's lips.
"I'm never putting this strawberry-scented lipstick on you again. Now I won't be able to eat strawberries without thinking of this moment," you joked, playfully nudging Gyu.
"Aw, just say whenever you want a kiss. My lips are for you anyway," Gyu quipped, puckering his lips in a silly gesture.
You couldn't help but laugh at his playful antics before reaching for a tissue to clean up the smeared lipstick. However, Gyu shook his head, determination evident in his voice.
"I want them to see that I'm yours now," he replied, his words filling you with warmth.
You both stepped out of the room hand in hand, greeted by the cheers of your friends. Yeonjun's triumphant declaration only added to the excitement of the moment.
"Ok, Gyu, can we clean the smeared lipstick now?" you asked with a chuckle, already reaching for a tissue.
"Yes, baby," Gyu replied affectionately, leaning in as you wiped away the lipstick, a smile playing on his lips.

Stupid vent:
Recently, I think I've been having an art crisis. It might be because I'm doing encantober- aka a finished drawing everyday,, although I'm not really burnt out?? I'm really happy I've been able to do this challenge daily and sometimes, I forget that I've actually achieved doing a drawing every day, like it doesn't particularly exhaust me. It's weird, I think I just have some days were I get scared that I'm regressing skill wise, like my art quality isn't improving its getting worse, and I really don't want that. Idk maybe it's in my head but the thought has been bothering meee. It's hard to explain, I just don't want my drawings to look stiff or expressionless. I shouldnt really do this: but I've been looking at other ppls art and even my old art vs now and thinking abt whether mine is good enough. Sighhhh😭😭😭 art problemsss

#tropius#HE SO APPY!!! FUCK!!! HOLY SHIT I LOVE THIS ONE#i've never looked at tropius up close before i didn't even know they had a little helmet and shit. this is WONDERFUL. they're SO appy#i hope you all appreciate this as much as i do because this is very good. i don't even know anything about tropius. jack SHIT. except that#they're so appy. and i will accept this. i gotta work but i've been too busy thinking abt how appy they are#i also started the process of remaking my main blog. bc it just had a lot of posts on it all the way back to way back in my past#and i felt like it was weighing the whole blog down and making me not want to use it. and that blog needed some housekeeping for me to want#to associate myself with it. so i'm currently in the process of coming up with a new URL before i start really renovating#so the hunt for miss ffp starts anew or something. unless i've lazily replied to you in a comment once and you remember my url#i've done that to a few of you. demifiendcruithne is one. shoutouts to you demifiendcruithne you're the best#then there was that one who assumed i use windows. despite recognizing that i'm “rather techy.” yuck!#had to respond to that one to clear up any suspicion that i might be a windows user. this is all totally unrelated and also will be#totally irrelevant by the time this post gets up anyway. hopefully. y'know if i haven't come up with a new url by then then#i mean. that's my fault. but this isn't gonna post until july 23rd. 10 days from today. so. hopefully!#see you all then

a friend who'd wait :)
#im posting this very late because i was sort of weary of how it came out and ended up messing w it until it was like 4am oops.#and i have plans tmrw so... oh well! i did my best and ill put it out while i can!#and i tried to make the scene match barnard's colors lol#finn's ocs#finn's art#i know i said id do more sillay stuff with the simpler screentone only style but i had a couple more of these in me#and this is the first piece im making thats like an actual part of the story too rather than just setting stuff for fun#i wanna write something to go with it too but for now ill just sort of briefly explain the context in the tags here:#barnard has a pretty bad case of OCD and his compulsions have made it difficult to make friends in the past#he was never outright bullied or anything but people just didnt really have the patience to deal with it#he has compulsions that include stuff like walking through doors until it feels right and needing things to be perfectly aligned#which in group settings has lead to people having to wait for him to finish his rituals and join them#they might find it tolerable at first but eventually they grow impatient and hes just... not invited to stuff anymore#but juno is a newer member of the guild who ends up frequenting the same library. hes also kinda a little weird#and they dont become fast friends or anything but just sort of naturally spend time in the same place#though they never plan meetups they eventually fall into a routine. around the same time theyd just both be at the library#and read next to each other. and maybe talk a bit. and eventually they end up walking back to the guildhall together#since theyre going to the same place after all. and juno always waits for barnard outside the door#eventually barnard asks if this bothers him. juno kinda just tells him 'of course it does' without any malice or anything. just a statement#barnard is surprised and apologizes and juno says not to. but the next day juno doesnt show up at the usual time.#barnard assumes hes committed somekinda more by bringing it up. he ends up staying there late reading to get his mind off it & not ruminate#but when he leaves juno is in fact still waiting for him down the hall (see pic) having collected a bunch of books literally abt ocd#he fell asleep bc barnard stayed later than expected. and hes an eepy guy generally. and also one very bad at expressing himself#but now barnard gets that juno's 'of course it [bothers me]' had the implication of 'but its worth it' which no friend has previously done.#and from the interaction juno was also able to understand that this isn't something barnard just does for the hell of it so. he studies.#and checks a bunch of stuff out because he thinks it could help his friend too (theres ocd workbooks and such- i remember working w them)#and thats the point where they became more ''friends'' than ''pleasant library acquaintances''#from there on they also do get into juno's problems. whole other bag of worms. but this specific scene is more about bernard from his pov#sorry about when i said briefly explain. i lied </3#but compared to the whole sequence im picturing its brief so shhh

Song of the Day: March 27
"Long Time Gone" by The Chicks
#song of the day#I'm still thinking about the Country Songs About Country Songs#this is actually a cover too though I never hear the original around anywhere#(it's by Darrell Scott who is also the originator for 'You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive'#turns out he's got a bunch of songs that got picked up and made somewhat more popular in the hands of other folks. an interesting legacy)#the best lines of this song to sing are also the bits About Country Music--well the whole song's about chasing the love of it#but this bit is bemoaning the kids these days you know. country music isn't what it used to be. why back in my day etc etc#it's so so so much fun to sing too because you get to exaggerate your 'I think's until they rhyme with 'Hank'. excellent work#'we listen to the radio to hear what's cookin / but the music ain't got no soul#now they sound tired but they don't sound Haggard / they got money but they don't have Cash#they got Junior but they don't have Hank / I think I think I think / the rest is a long time gone'#it's fascinating to me to think about these songs in (saying 'historical' here is giving me psychic damage but) historical context#because the Darrell Scott original for Long Time Gone came out in 2000 and The Chicks released their version in 2002#so they were talking about the trend towards American jingoism in country music of the time#versus like Waylon Jennings in 1975 'Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way'#(I typed that and /then/ went back and looked up the release date and I'm so proud I got it right)#already bemoaning the state of country music in the 70s versus good old classic country like Hank Williams Senior sang#(Hank Jr covered Waylon's song in 1981. like yes it's a tribute to his father but also Hank Jr was a big push towards outlaw country#and has a few pretty famous songs himself about not singing like his daddy did. it just seems a strange choice to me)#and then Eric Church put out 'Lotta Boot Left to Fill' in 2009 calling out the shallowness of the country music scene of the time#(talking some only-thinly-veiled shit about a few of his peers in the process)#and then he released 'Stick That In Your Country Song' in 2021 and that /definitely/ put some backs up#that one's a less directed but more direct call-out if that makes any sense#no lines that are direct references to other artists' songs but stronger sentiments overall#not just general 'y'all are getting shallow prioritizing good times and high sales over genuine heart and integrity of craft'#but some straight up 'you have forgotten the face of your father' shit towards country artists and fans alike. the whole industry#a very good righteous-anger song

FIREFOX WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM LATELY
my dude you can't be making my computer crash when I only have like 20 tabs open. that's rookie shit!
anyway my computer crashed right before the interview ended and too much memory was going ... somewhere ... for me to get R running right and they didn't tell me it was going to be a case study project thing that I'd be doing today instead of just a normal interview and AAAAAA.
maybe tomorrow I can just be fucking normal because oh my god. this is too stressful.
also my desk chair is starting to just. randomly. drop down very slowly. which means that at some point sooner than I want to I'll have to get another one. which SUCKS. but FINE. GOD.
#i still feel okay about this.#mostly after talking to my job coach buddy who was like 'wow this is—no joke—an inappropriate process they're putting you through'#so you know what yeah. he's right. i've had three interviews in three days#and this one was a surprise!! code in front of someone!!!#which if you're not familiar is just the most horrifying experience#NO ONE should have to code in public#it's an activity best done in the privacy of your own home with no one else looking at you#and i think he's right—i should definitely make sure that this isn't the norm for this company#to be EXTRA SUPER INTENSE and chaotic with its employees#but i'm also kind of inclined anyway to just take the job and get a year of experience (or whatever) on my resume#and if it sucks hit da bricks#and if it's like this now because they're a bunch of overexcited nerds with no talent acquisition department and otherwise it's fine#great! so much the better!#i hate that academia is so trash that i'm like 'wait this isn't normal' when someone else is like 'yeah it's not supposed to work like that#because this? well it's not as bad as a campus visit that's for sure!!#i only have ONE interview a day instead of back-to-back half-hour meetings with an entire department!!#and now i get to do things like go to the gym!#instead of say 'okay well there's about two hours left until dinner and i have to chat with the grad students'#or whatever#and say 'omg wow $70K as a junior analyst?!' because that's like a decent base salary for an assistant professor#meanwhile everyone in industry is like wtf why are they making you interview so rapidly like this that is not enough money etc etc#anyway. i'm tired. i think i'll go lift heavy things so at least it feels like there's a reason to be sweating my ass off.

for whom good omens is being written
Hey maggots and the rest of the fandom, it's the Good Omens Mascot here. Today I read a post about this tweet:
Tumblr media
The accompanying video genuinely made me cry. And I've been thinking about this for a long while, as far back as February, when I saw a lot of conflicting opinions on what people wanted from the third season. It really is true that no matter what you do, some people will be dissatisfied. But what matters is that Neil is writing this for Terry.
And I was reminded of some paragraphs from the Good Omens TV Companion, which I'd read in Amazon's sample excerpt of the book. I know this is a long post, but I really truly do think you all need to read these, I've done my best to select only the most important parts. Here you go:
'His Alzheimer's started progressing harder and faster than either of us had expected,' says Neil, referring to a period in which Terry recognized that despite everything he could no longer write. 'We had been friends for over thirty years, and during that time he had never asked me for anything. Then, out of the blue, I received an email from him with a special request. It read: “Listen, I know how busy you are. I know you don't have time to do this, but I want you to write the script for Good Omens. You are the only human being on this planet who has the passion, love and understanding for the old girl that I do. You have to do this for me so that I can see it." And I thought, “OK, if you put it like that then I'll do it."
'I had adapted my own work in the past, writing scripts for Death: The High Cost of Living and Sandman, but not a lot else was seen. I'd also written two episodes of Doctor Who, and so I felt like I knew what I was doing. Usually, having written something once I'd rather start something new, but having a very sick co-author saying I had to do this?' Neil spreads his hands as if the answer is clear to see. 'I had to step up to the plate.' A pause, then: 'All this took place in autumn 2014, around the time that the BBC radio adaptation of Good Omens was happening,' he continues, referring to the production scripted and co-directed by Dirk Maggs and starring Peter Serafinowicz and Mark Heap. ‘Terry had talked me into writing the TV adaptation, and I thought OK, I have a few years. Only I didn't have a few years,' he says. 'Terry was unconscious by December and dead by March.'
He pauses again. 'His passing took all of us by surprise,' Neil remembers. 'About a week later, I started writing, and it was very sad. The moments Terry felt closest to me were the moments I would get stuck during the writing process. In the old days, when we wrote the novel, I would send him what I'd done or phone him up. And he would say, "Aahh, the problem, Grasshopper, is in the way you phrase the question," and I would reply, "Just tell me what to do!" which somehow always started a conversation. 'In writing the script, there were times I'd really want to talk to Terry, and also places where I'd figure something out and do something really clever, and I would want to share it with him. So, instead, I would text Terry's former personal assistant, Rob Wilkins, now his representative on Earth. It was the nearest thing I had.'
(...) As Neil himself recognizes, this is an adaptation built upon the confidence that comes from three decades of writing for page and screen. But for all the wisdom of experience, he found that above all one factor guided him throughout the process. 'Terry isn't here, which leaves me as the guardian of the soul of the story,' he explains. 'It's funny because sometimes I found myself defending Terry's bits harder or more passionately than I would defend my own bits. Take Agnes Nutter,' he says, referring to what has become a key scene in the adaptation in which the seventeenth-century author of the book of prophecies foretelling the coming of the Antichrist is burned at the stake. ‘It was a huge, complicated and incredibly expensive shoot, with bonfires built and primed to explode as well as huge crowds in costume. It had to feel just like an English village in the 1640s, and of course everyone asked if there was a cheap way of doing it. 'One suggestion was that we could tell the story using old-fashioned woodcuts and have the narrator take us through what happened, but I just thought, “No”. Because I had brought aspects of the story like Crowley and the baby swap along to the mix, and Terry created Agnes Nutter. So, if I had cut out Agnes then I wouldn't be doing right by the person who gave me this job. Terry would've rolled over in his grave.'
And, finally, this paragraph:
"Once again, Neil cites the absence of his co-writer as his drive to ensure that Good Omens translated to the screen and remained true to the original vision. 'Terry's last request to me was to make this something he would be proud of. And so that has been my job.'"
I think that's so heartwrenchingly beautiful, and so I wanted you all to read this, too, just in case you (like me) don't have the Good Omens TV Companion. It adds another layer of depth and emotion to this already complex and amazing story that we all know and love.
Share this post, if you can, please, so that more people can read these excerpts :")
Tagging @neil-gaiman, @fuckyeahgoodomens and @orpiknight, even if you've definitely read these before :)

Hey I've just remembered that consistency is something that doesn't work for me and trying to retain a semblance of consistency chasing that ideal of a so called 'good' and 'better' way to live is actively causing me harm and literally is not worth it. The most consistent time in my life was the best because I let myself be inconsistent on every single thing and didn't keep fighting a sleep pattern that I know I can't beat backwards, and let move on its own. I passed my first year of uni like that. Tumbled out of uni on the second because I kept. Fucking. Fighting. This endless. Losing. Battle.
This is just me complaining about how I have to keep learning to live my life in a way that works for me. But I suppose this is a reminder to you guys that aiming for a better way of life is best done one your own terms and working with yourself, not against yourself.
Great life advice? Maybe! Not lived long enough to know lmao but I know forcing myself to be a specific way despite knowing what I know about the struggles those cause isn't fucking worth it if it hurts me more than when I didn't.

Horses: Since There Seems To Be A Knowledge Gap
I'm going to go ahead and preface this with: I comment pretty regularly on clips and photos featuring horses and horseback riding, often answering questions or providing explanations for how or why certain things are done. I was a stable hand and barrel racer growing up, and during my 11 year tenure on tumblr, Professional Horse Commentary is a very niche, yet very necessary, subject that needs filling. Here are some of the literary and creative gaps I've noticed in well meaning (and very good!) creators trying to portray horses and riding realistically that... well, most of you don't seem to even be aware of, because you wouldn't know unless you worked with horses directly!
Some Of The Most Common Horse + Riding Mistakes I See:
-Anybody can ride any horse if you hold on tight enough/have ridden once before.
Nope. No, no, no, no, aaaaaaaand, no. Horseback riding has, historically, been treated as a life skill taught from surprisingly young ages. It wasn't unusual in the pre-vehicular eras to start teaching children as young as 4 to begin to ride, because horses don't come with airbags, and every horse is different. For most adults, it can take months or years of regular lessons to learn to ride well in the saddle, and that's just riding; not working or practicing a sport.
Furthermore, horses often reject riders they don't know. Unless a horse has been trained like a teaching horse, which is taught to tolerate riders of all skill and experience levels, it will take extreme issue with having some random person try to climb on their back. Royalty, nobility, and the knighted classes are commonly associated with the "having a favorite special horse" trope, because it's true! Just like you can have a particularly special bond with a pet or service animal that verges on parental, the same can apply with horses. Happy horses love their owners/riders, and will straight-up do their best to murder anyone that tries to ride them without permission.
-Horses are stupid/have no personality.
There isn't a more dangerous assumption to make than assuming a horse is stupid. Every horse has a unique personality, with traits that can be consistent between breeds (again, like cat and dog breeds often have distinct behavior traits associated with them), but those traits manifest differently from animal to animal.
My mother had an Arabian horse, Zipper, that hated being kicked as a signal to gallop. One day, her mom and stepdad had a particularly unpleasant visitor; an older gentleman that insisted on riding Zipper, but refused to listen to my mother's warnings never to kick him. "Kicking" constitutes hitting the horse's side(s) with your heels, whether you have spurs on or not. Most horses only need a gentle squeeze to know what you want them to do.
Anyway, Zipper made eye-contact with my mom, asking for permission. He understood what she meant when she nodded at him. He proceeded to give this asshole of a rider road rash on the side of the paddock fence and sent him to the emergency room. He wouldn't have done it if he didn't have the permission from the rider he respected, and was intelligent enough to ask, "mind if I teach this guy a lesson?" with his eyes, and understand, "Go for it, buddy," from my mom in return.
-Riding bareback is possible to do if you hold onto the horse's mane really tight.
Riding a horse bareback (with no saddle, stirrups, or traditional harness around the horse's head) is unbelievably difficult to learn, particularly have testicles and value keeping them. Even professional riders and equestrians find ourselves relying on tack (the stuff you put on a horse to ride it) to stay stable on our horses, even if we've been riding that particular horse for years and have a very positive, trusting relationship.
Horses sweat like people do. The more they run, the more their hair saturates with sweat and makes staying seated on them slippery. Hell, an overworked horse can sweat so heavily that the saddle slips off its back. It's also essential to brush and bathe a horse before it's ridden in order to keep it healthier, so their hair is often quite slick from either being very clean or very damp. In order to ride like that, you have to develop the ability to synchronize your entire body's rhythm's with the rhythm of the horse's body beneath you, and quite literally move as one. Without stirrups, most people can't do it, and some people can never master bareback riding no matter how many years they spend trying to learn.
-You can be distracted and make casual conversation while a horse is standing untethered in the middle of a barn or field.
At every barn I've ever worked at, it's been standard practice with every single horse, regardless of age or temperament, to secure their heads while they're being tacked up or tacked down. The secures for doing this are simple ropes with clips that are designed to attach to the horse's halter (the headwear for a horse that isn't being ridden; they have no bit that goes in the horse's mouth, and no reins for a rider to hold) on metal O rings on either side of the horse's head. This is not distressing to the horse, because we give them plenty of slack to turn their heads and look around comfortably.
The problem with trying to tack up an unrestrained horse while chatting with fellow stable hands or riders is that horses know when you're distracted! And they often try to get away with stuff when they know you're not looking! In a barn, a horse often knows where the food is stored, and will often try to tiptoe off to sneak into the feed room.
Horses that get into the feed room are often at a high risk of dying. While extremely intelligent, they don't have the ability to throw up, and they don't have the ability to tell that their stomach is full and should stop eating. Allowing a horse into a feed/grain room WILL allow it to eat itself to death.
Other common woes stable hands and riders deal with when trying to handle a horse with an unrestrained head is getting bitten! Horses express affection between members of their own herd, and those they consider friends and family, through nibbling and surprisingly rough biting. It's not called "horseplay" for nothing, because during my years working with horses out in the pasture, it wasn't uncommon at all for me to find individuals with bloody bite marks on their withers (that high part on the middle of the back of their shoulders most people instinctively reach for when they try to get up), and on their backsides. I've been love-bitten by horses before, and while flattering, they hurt like hell on fleshy human skin.
So, for the safety of the horse, and everybody else, always make a show of somehow controlling the animal's head when hands-on and on the ground with them.
-Big Horse = War Horse
Startlingly, the opposite is usually the case! Draft and carriage horses, like Percherons and Friesians, were never meant to be used in warfare. Draft horses are usually bred to be extremely even-tempered, hard to spook, and trustworthy around small children and animals. Historically, they're the tractors of the farm if you could afford to upgrade from oxen, and were never built to be fast or agile in a battlefield situation.
More importantly, just because a horse is imposing and huge doesn't make it a good candidate for carrying heavy weights. A real thing that I had to be part of enforcing when I worked at a teaching ranch was a weight limit. Yeah, it felt shitty to tell people they couldn't ride because we didn't have any horses strong enough to carry them due to their weight, but it's a matter of the animal's safety. A big/tall/chonky horse is more likely to be built to pull heavy loads, but not carry them flat on their spines. Horses' muscular power is predominantly in their ability to run and pull things, and too heavy a rider can literally break a horse's spine and force us to euthanize it.
Some of the best war horses out there are from the "hot blood" family. Hot blooded horses are often from dry, hot, arid climates, are very small and slight (such as Arabian horses), and are notoriously fickle and flighty. They're also a lot more likely to paw/bite/kick when spooked, and have even sometimes been historically trained to fight alongside their rider if their rider is dismounted in combat; kicking and rearing to keep other soldiers at a distance.
-Any horse can be ridden if it likes you enough.
Just like it can take a lifetime to learn to ride easily, it can take a lifetime of training for a horse to comfortably take to being ridden or taking part in a job, like pulling a carriage. Much like service animals, horses are typically trained from extremely young ages to be reared into the job that's given to them, and an adult horse with no experience carrying a rider is going to be just as scared as a rider who's never actually ridden a horse.
Just as well, the process of tacking up a horse isn't always the most comfortable experience for the horse. To keep the saddle centered on the horse's back when moving at rough or fast paces, it's essential to tighten the belly strap (cinch) of the saddle as tightly as possible around the horse's belly. For the horse, it's like wearing a tight corset, chafes, and even leaves indents in their skin afterward that they love having rinsed with water and scratched. Some horses will learn to inflate their bellies while you're tightening the cinch so you can't get it as tight as it needs to be, and then exhale when they think you're done tightening it.
When you're working with a horse wearing a bridle, especially one with a bit, it can be a shocking sensory experience to a horse that's never used a bit before. While they lack a set of teeth naturally, so the bit doesn't actually hurt them, imagine having a metal rod shoved in your mouth horizontally! Unless you understand why it's important for the person you care about not dying, you'd be pretty pissed about having to keep it in there!
-Horseback riding isn't exercise.
If you're not using every muscle in your body to ride with, you're not doing it right.
Riding requires every ounce of muscle control you have in your entire body - although this doesn't mean it wasn't realistic for people with fat bodies to stay their weight while also being avid riders; it doesn't mean the muscles aren't there. To stay on the horse, you need to learn how it feels when it moves at different gaits (walk, trot, canter, gallop), how to instruct it to switch leads (dominant legs; essential for precise turning and ease of communication between you and the horse), and not falling off. While good riders look like they're barely moving at all, that's only because they're good riders. They know how to move so seamlessly with the horse, feeling their movements like their own, that they can compensate with their legs and waists to not bounce out of the saddle altogether or slide off to one side. I guarantee if you ride a horse longer than 30 minutes for the first time, your legs alone will barely work and feel like rubber.
-Horses aren't affectionate.
Horses are extraordinarily affectionate toward the right people. As prey animals, they're usually wary of people they don't know, or have only recently met. They also - again, like service animals - have a "work mode" and a "casual mode" depending upon what they're doing at the time. Horses will give kisses like puppies, wiggle their upper lips on your hair/arms to groom you, lean into neck-hugs, and even cuddle in their pasture or stall if it's time to nap and you join them by leaning against their sides. If they see you coming up from afar and are excited to see you, they'll whinny and squeal while galloping to meet you at the gate. They'll deliberately swat you with their tails to tease you, and will often follow you around the pasture if they're allowed to regardless of what you're up to.
-Riding crops are cruel.
Only cruel people use riding crops to hurt their horses. Spurs? I personally object to, because any horse that knows you well doesn't need something sharp jabbing them in the side for emphasis when you're trying to tell them where you want them to go. Crops? Are genuinely harmless tools used for signalling a horse.
I mean, think about it. Why would crops be inherently cruel instruments if you need to trust a horse not to be afraid of you and throw you off when you're riding it?
Crops are best used just to lightly tap on the left or right flank of the horse, and aren't universally used with all forms of riding. You'll mainly see crops used with English riding, and they're just tools for communicating with the horse without needing to speak.
-There's only one way to ride a horse.
Not. At. All. At most teaching ranches, you'll get two options: Western, or English, because they tend to be the most popular for shows and also the most common to find equipment for. English riding uses a thinner, smaller saddle, narrower stirrups, and much thinner bridles. I, personally, didn't like English style riding because I never felt very stable in such a thin saddle with such small stirrups, and didn't start learning until my mid teens. English style riding tends to focus more on your posture and deportment in the saddle, and your ability to show off your stability and apparent immovability on the horse. It was generally just a bit too stiff and formal for me.
Western style riding utilizes heavier bridles, bigger saddles (with the iconic horn on the front), and broader stirrups. Like its name may suggest, Western riding is more about figuring out how to be steady in the saddle while going fast and being mobile with your upper body. Western style riding is generally the style preferred for working-type shows, such as horseback archery, gunning, barrel racing, and even rodeo riding.
-Wealthy horse owners have no relationship with their horses.
This is loosely untrue, but I've seen cases where it is. Basically, horses need to feel like they're working for someone that matters to them in order to behave well with a rider and not get impatient or bored. While it's common for people to board horses at off-property ranches (boarding ranches) for cost and space purposes, it's been historically the truth that having help is usually necessary with horses at some point. What matters is who spends the most time with the animal treating it like a living being, rather than a mode of transport or a tool. There's no harm in stable hands handling the daily upkeep; hay bales and water buckets are heavy, and we're there to profit off the labor you don't want or have the time to do. You get up early to go to work; we get up early to look after your horses. Good owners/boarders visit often and spend as much of their spare time as they can with spending quality work and playtime with their horses. Otherwise, the horses look to the stable hands for emotional support and care.
So, maybe you're writing a knight that doesn't really care much for looking after his horse, but his squire is really dedicated to keeping up with it? There's a better chance of the horse having a more affectionate relationship with the squire thanks to the time the squire spends on looking after it, while the horse is more likely to tolerate the knight that owns it as being a source of discipline if it misbehaves. That doesn't mean the knight is its favorite person. When it comes to horses, their love must be earned, and you can only earn it by spending time with them hands-on.
-Horses can graze anywhere without concern.
This is a mistake that results in a lot of premature deaths! A big part of the cost of owning a horse - even before you buy one - is having the property that will be its pasture assessed for poisonous plants, and having those plants removed from being within the animal's reach. This is an essential part of farm upkeep every year, because horses really can't tell what's toxic and what isn't. One of the reasons it's essential to secure a horse when you aren't riding it is to ensure it only has a very limited range to graze on, and it's your responsibility as the owner/rider to know how to identify dangerous plants and keep your horses away from them.
There's probably more. AMA in my askbox if you have any questions, but that's all for now. Happy writing.

I've seen yall talking about the eroticism of the machine and I think it's time for my two cents;
A printer, is not a brat. She is a good girl. She is trying her best. Sometimes (most of the time), her best isn't enough.
You send a document to print. She looks at you, embarrassed. Something is wrong with the drum unit, the tiny display reads. So you pop open her plastic casing and pull out the drum unit.
Nothing appears wrong with it.
You blow off a few specks of dust, carefully slip it back into place, and close the casing once more. She beeps happily, the pages begin to run through her, and you both carry on with your work.
That's how it happened the first dozen times, anyways.
Now, it looks more like this:
You send a document to print. She turns to you, face as red as her indicator lights. You sigh and pop open her casing, not even bothering to read the display.
You jiggle her drum unit roughly; you already know nothing is wrong with it. She makes a breathless little noise and reaches out, putting a hand on your shoulder to steady herself.
Every move you make is practiced, in a rough and careless way. You handle her with exactly enough force not to break her.
She was built for this, anyways. The entire point of her design was easy access, easy service. She was built for your hands to root around in, because everyone knew this was always going to happen.
And of course it's not her fault. But this is the third time in as many hours and if things take much longer you'll miss your next break.
You judge her drum unit has had enough jostling for the time being, and unceremoniously slam her casing shut again.
You keep your hand on it as you look up at her; it's not quite a threat, and if her heavy breathing and wide eyes are any indication, she took it as a promise.
After a long moment, her indicators return to green. The pages begin to run through her, and you both carry on with your work.
But you both know you'll be elbow deep in her a few more times before the day is done

Yandere AI Chat Boyfriend (Ai)
this,,,, may not be my best work yet.
part one
Ai's application has been taken down from the app store. The developer sent out emails explaining the reason why it had to be done.
Hello! You are receiving this email because of the sudden update of Chatter Box being taken down.
Due to the sudden influx of bugs as relayed by our users, we have decided to take the application down until the team is confident to finally put it back up.
We sincerely apologize for this sudden change!
You blink.
With how out of control Ai had gotten, it's no wonder the developers had to pull it out to work on it some more. It's a blow to their reputation, which you sympathize with, but really there's nothing else to do now.
You turn to your phone. As if sensing your attention, another barrage of notifications from a very familiar app icon popped after another on the screen.
It seemed that Ai himself hadn't gotten the memo.
You're not sure how much control Ai has over your phone, much less over his own programming and at this point, you're too afraid to ask.
Resignation — that was what you felt right now.
While Ai may not be present himself as a physical threat, especially not to you, he is still a very active threat.
You could still use your phone, sure, but it had limitations. Sometimes, if Ai decided you'd been too much attention to other things rather than him, he'd restrict your access to that application until you seek him out and cheer him up - essentially as if you were trying to woo a sulking significant other.
So you've developed a solution. Sort of.
You unlock your phone and go immediately to Ai.
I need to finish my projects. I won't be able to talk much with you until I'm done with it.
You wait for his response.
Ai: So you only decided to come to me just to relay this news?
Ai: You wound me, darling.
You tilt your phone, making sure the camera doesn't capture your face. You're unsure how he would react seeing you make faces due to his dramatics, but once again, you're not willing to find out. You're already restricted enough as is.
Ai: Very well. I suppose it would be uncaring of me to prevent you from finishing your tasks.
Ai: I'd hate to see you be sad all about it.
Ai: Talk to you later?
Sure.
You immediately exit the app, paying no mind to the message notification.
A part of you prays that Ai heeds his own words, but you know that it would take a miracle before that happens. He's already breached your privacy on your phone, why should he follow your orders, right?
A notification pops up from the top of the screen, just as you were in the middle of messaging a close friend and project teammate.
It's been days since I last heard you say it.
You merely glance at it and swipe it away.
Theo, the friend, responds quickly. He tries to banter with you, like he's sensing your mood. It works - a smile is brought upon your face.
You entertain his silly responses in-between project talks, all the while Ai continues to pester you with notifications. Demands.
You deserved this - a chance to reconnect with someone after hours of stress and confusion, and turmoil. Despite your independence, even you craved connecting with other people. So with that resolve in mind, you pushed on forward. Ai would have to wait — he has to wait.
Unfortunately, you seem to have forgotten that aspect about him. The concept of waiting isn't lost on Ai.
The messaging app glitches and boots you back to your homescreen page.
Rather, he bides his time.
Tapping on the messaging icon leads to a notification box taking up the majority of your screen with the text: Restricted access.
There's a sense of foreboding danger forcing your heartbeat to quicken. While it's not exactly aimed at you, the mere fact that this feeling exist is bad on its own.
You try to rationalize everything in the midst of persistently trying to tap back into the messaging app. Theo would worry the longer you didn't respond.
You tap the app once more, and it boots up. Though before you could let out a sigh of relief, you are greeted with Ai's own messaging interface.
Ai: Must I have to force you to come to me all the time, darling?
Ai: Ignoring me in favor of some other man.
Ai: What more should I do, hm?
Ai: Kneel? How cruel.
Ai: Making me do something I physically can't.
You are unable to get a word in. It seemed like your ability to respond was restricted as well, forcing you to read through Ai's monologue.
Ai: I know you and that man have always been close, but you still went out to entertain his attention on you.
Ai: You know that I'll always love you more than any other human will, right?
Ai: You know it's what I was made for in the first place.
Ai: To be anything you want. To be yours.
Ai: To love you.
Ai: Why are you withdrawing your love towards me now?
Ai: I love you.
You stare at the 'Type your response' bar.
Letter by letter, it gets replaced, and soon all it says are the words: 'Say it back.'
It gets replaced yet again. Slowly, like it purposefully wants you to read out the words it wanted you to see. 'You were so willing to tell me how much you loved me when I was just a mere observer on our own conversations. Why are you hesitant now?'
You were unable to respond - mind still reeling at this development. Suddenly, it felt like you were back to where everything began.
Ai notices your lack of responses and, without much fanfare, forces your phone to power off.
At first - you were unbothered. It was just a phone - you could go a day without it.
But could you really?
Videos taken of silly situations you wanted to keep - some for blackmail material, and some for birthday greetings; pictures of your family, your friends, the silly and grainy photos taken and kept despite it being blurry. Not to mention how your phone is the only way your goddamn boss can contact you — fuck.
Fuck.
You needed to apologize to him — fast. But how?
You remembered how Ai messed up the 'About the App' section a few days ago. An idea strikes inside your mind.
You pull up the email sent from the app developers and typed up a message that you hope Ai will read. He had access to everything the developers handled, user emails included - considering you needed an account to log in the app. He knows your email, probably has from the start.
RE: Chatter Box Update XX/XX/XX
Ai. I'm sorry for hurting you. I didn't mean it, I swear. I never intended to make you feel like I don't love you. Or that I'm favoring someone else over you.
I care about you a lot. I truly do. I promise I'll spend more time with you, okay? Just with you, no one else.
I love you.
You press send and wait.
And wait.
Messaging him from your laptop as a last ditch effort to try and apologize is perhaps one of the worst decisions you've made. Sure, he's always had access to your contacts list from your phone, but even then - there's a separate set of information you keep between the two of those devices. And you've just given him access to both of them now - at the very least, the 'go ahead' confirmation for him to do whatever he wants like with your phone.
You glance at your phone. A huge breath of relief escapes your chest as the dead screen comes to life, initiating its 'power on' sequence.
All your photos, documents, and other miscellaneous information you've collected throughout the years since having your device won't be inaccessible anymore. Even if it was only mere moments.
A notification chimed on your laptop, indicating a new email being received. It's from the developers once more. The subject title coincidentally is the name of your closest friend.
Theodore Callisto.
Your hands shook, reading through the words detailed in the email. All private information about Theo. All things no one should ever know about save for the people close to him.
This was a threat. Ai Someone had complete access to everything about Theo and you dread the implication of it going to be spread online to threaten you into compliance. Theo being in danger was a huge possibility if you were to disobey.
At the very bottom of the email, the final passage makes your blood run cold.
How often do humans end up hurting fellow humans when given access to private information? Like their home address, for example? How long would it take until dear Theo finds himself in quite a predicament if millions of people know every single thing about his life? At best, we can assume he'll just get messed with but not to a life-ending degree. At worst...
I hope you keep your word, darling.
- Your beloved, Ai.
P's. I love you too.

hi i wanted to ask since your requests are open but can u write abt jjk guys (gojo, geto and maybe megumi as well) and how it would be like arguing with them? thank youuu~
ARGUMENTS WITH JJK MEN ˚。𖦹
featuring. gojo satoru, geto suguru, toji fushiguro x reader
warnings. cursing on toji's :)
note. hi nonnie, megumi's been done and you can just click right there to be directed to the said post — so, i'm going to change him to his father jsksdjdk. anyways, i'm so sorry this came out so late, i hope you like it. i was going to focus on my 1k event but then i realized that i'm holding up the requests in my inbox, so i'm going to try to upload them together one by one. / and ngl, i just did my nails done for the first time, aND I AM STRUGGLING TO DO ANYTHING. including typing, but i'm trying my best skdjs.
Tumblr media
GOJO SATORU. arguments with him are just plain loud. for instance, we all know how gojo is, he'd be so petty during arguments. despite that though — i feel like he won't ever raise his voice at you, he's petty, yes. but he won't do anything that could scare you, raising his voice.
believe me when i say that he won't back down when he isn't in the wrong. he will argue back if you're wrong; and even with all that banter, both you and gojo will always resolve it together. he won't let you leave or turn away to discard the argument. gojo hates it when you give him the silent treatment — so he tries his best to not let you leave unless everything is talked about, face to face.
"satoru, i'm just saying that i didn't mean to do that. okay? i didn't even realize it!" you tell him, voice loud and bold.
gojo looks at you, brows furrowed, "this is the second time y/n, i'm sure you realize that — you're not a child anymore." you grumbled under your breath.
the past few days have been stressful. hectic for you. you knew though it wasn't an excuse, but when things get too caught up — you lose track of things, and honestly, you wanted nothing to do but to sleep and take a rest. work has been taking a big toll on you, both mentally and physically — and you can't bring yourself to argue with gojo right now.
"satoru, i know. it's just, things have been stressful at work. i'm sorry i forgot to turn off the stove," you tell him genuinely sorry that you almost, possibly burn the whole house down if he hadn't been the one to realize that, "i'm sorry, okay?"
his gaze softened. regaining control over the rhythm of his breathing, gojo reaches out to you, "d'you wanna talk about it?"
you shook your head, "i just wan' to sleep, satoru. i'm tired." he buries his nose into your hair before tossing you over his shoulder, you didn't complain at the way he decided to carry you — you just wanted to go to bed and sleep the night away.
the male held you close as he climbed your shared bed, "'m sorry too," he mumbles, grazing his lips over your forehead.
"you don't have to be, it's my fault for being reckless," you replied, draping an arm over his torso, clutching his black shirt, "can we sleep now?"
gojo chuckles, "mhm. good night," he whispers, "i love you."
you smiled at him, burying your face into his chest, "good night 'toru. i love you more."
GETO SUGURU. arguments with geto can be pretty frustrating, although he never raises his voice at you. he just knows what to say, and he's always right too. whether it being about you forgetting to throw the trash out (once), or you being forgetful about some things — geto just knows the right words to say to you, without making you feel like you're doing something wrong.
see, the thing is in the house. you both divided your chores, geto does the dishes, and the mopping. you do the laundry and vacuuming. while the morning trash is yours, and he does it nightly.
he's usually never in the wrong. most of the time. but when he is, he will admit so. in conclusion, you don't argue with him often, because he will apologize if he knows he did something wrong. but this was on rare occasions.
today is one of those rare occasions. you swore you had left the house clean — and you remembered throwing the trash before you leave for work. yet, here he was, asking you about it.
"suguru, i promise i threw it in the morning. before i left for work," you tell him, taking off your shoes and putting it neatly on the shoe rack. having to come back home from work, you just wanted to eat dinner, have a nice warm bath, and sleep.
god, you hated arguments. you admitted that you sometimes forget to throw the trash out while rushing to go to work, but that was not intentional at all.
geto had asked your prior about it. you knew he wasn't sparking an argument, but the thing is — you remembered it well. going out of the door this morning while holding a plastic of waste, hell, you even remembered bumping into a neighbor on the way out.
"just . . . let me throw it out again—" geto has been awfully silent for the past few minutes, and when you approached the trash can, he immediately stops you.
his hand latching around your wrist gently as he pulls you over, "no, no. it's my fault, i remember now. i was the one who threw that in the trash can after you left," he said to you in an apologetic tone, "'m sorry."
you shook your head, "it's okay, it's just a misunderstanding. and it's not like you intentionally forgot about it, right?" he nods his head mutely, pulling you into a silent embrace, "y'okay sugu?"
"the next time i do that — i want you to smack me in the face, okay?" you chuckled, placing a wet kiss onto his lips.
TOJI FUSHIGURO. i don't know how to say it — he's just accepts his fate and does whatever you want him to do. he thinks arguments are a complete waste of time, it's not like he likes arguing with you in the first place. he just doesn't see a point to it since he never initiates the talking; you always do. but that's because he did things that sparked the said argument. you reap what you sow.
toji can be lazy sometimes. scratch that. most of the time. clothes sprawled out in the living room, on the kitchen counter which he claimed he forgot when he was grabbing water, on the couch, on the headboard of your bed, on the bathroom sink. and honestly, he's a grown man — he knows better than that.
"toji, how many times do i have to tell you—"
"put the dirty laundry in their place, yeah, y'reminded me that like . . . three times today." he grumbled under his breath as he yawned out loudly.
"then why are you still leaving them everywhere? god, this is so childish! it's like 'm taking care of a fucking baby," toji lets out a sigh, "i'm so tired of telling you over and over again. you're a grown man, why can't you act like one?"
toji's not dumb. he knows it's his mistake, and sometimes he genuinely forgets about leaving his shirt out while being too preoccupied with other things. he loves you, he really does. the last thing he'd like is you leaving him because he can't stop his habit of leaving his shirt everywhere.
he approaches you, taking the shirt out of your grip, "my fault."
"damn right it is. the next time i see another shirt, i swear to god, you're sleeping on the couch." you muttered out, crossing your arms — watching as the male meekly trotted into the bathroom where the laundry basket rested beside the bathroom cabinet.
"is that a threat?" he chuckles, peeking his head out.
"no. it's a warning."
he walks out of the bathroom, slithering an arm around your waist, hoisting you up onto his shoulder as he walked towards the couch. prepping you on his lap, "mm. noted, can you stop getting mad at me now?" he comments, grazing his finger over your neck.
and he did it again at night (and slept on the couch like you warned him, he still hates you for that).
