OG Cobras Headcanons!!

- Johnny was the one who dyed Dutch’s hair. Dutch talked about wanting to go blonde for a bit so Johnny helped him.

- Bobby is the oldest, Jimmy is the second oldest, Johnny is the middle, Dutch is the second youngest, and Tommy is the youngest.

- They each have very different personalities.

- Johnny is sweet, sarcastic in a good way, and also a little bit shy in certain situations.

- Bobby is compassionate and literally THE therapist friend.

- Dutch is antisocial and aggressive, but less of that around his friends.

- Tommy is the class clown that’s actually funny and SUPER sarcastic.

- Jimmy is shy and standoffish, but is also one of the funniest people you’ll ever meet when he does talk.

- Johnny is a huge over-thinker, so is Jimmy.

- Tommy had a cigarette mom.

- Dutch’s mom kicked him out when he was 15, so Johnny and Bobby pulled money together to get him an apartment.

- Jimmy is the only thing stopping the other cobras from losing their minds to Cobra Kai, since he’s such a damn sweetheart.

- They are all amazing cooks and bakers and learned in different ways. Johnny learned from cooking classes Sid forced him to take, but actually enjoyed it. Bobby learned willingly from his mother and really loved it. Dutch had to learn to cook for himself because his mom abandoned him and his dad died in the Vietnam war. Tommy would always cook for his mom ever since he was little. Jimmy was like 4 and he saw his favorite movie character cooking and decided to try it when his mom and dad weren’t home and made a mess of the kitchen. After that his dad taught him how to cook and bake properly.

- Tommy has ADHD.

- Jimmy has social anxiety and went through depression.

- Dutch has PTSD and responds to it with violent and illegal behavior.

- Bobby has problems with overworking himself and gets stressed very easily.

- Johnny has intrusive thoughts and always jumps to conclusions.

- Jimmy comes from the most wealthy family in The Valley, and Johnny’s family is second to them. Therefore Sid doesn’t like Jimmy that much.

- Sid doesn’t like any of Johnny’s friends really but most the time Johnny just says fuck you and hangs out with them anyways.

- Jimmy has HUGE mood swings.

- They all act different when drunk.

- Johnny mind dumps and talks about the most random bullshit ever.

- Bobby can become angry because of bottling his emotions up, but he also rarely gets drunk since he’s the designated driver.

- Dutch gets all giggly and soft.

- Tommy starts becoming a stand up comedian and makes the whole bar laugh.

- Jimmy becomes emotional and cries.

Johnny

• Johnny is so protective. He doesn’t have much, he only had Cobra Kai, his friends, and Ali. And then he lost Ali.

• Johnny is huge on physical affection, gift giving, and quality time. He will constantly get his s/o gifts, even if they say no.

• If he doesn’t get constant cuddles, hand holding, or any form of touching from his s/o he will become a nervous wreck and overthink a lot.

• He loves cuddling with his s/o and whispering sweet nothings in their ear.

• Needs constant attention or else he will have a panic attack.

• He gets SO jealous it’s not even funny.

Bobby

• He will always do things for his s/o, like their homework or make them meals.

• Bobby loves it when his s/o brushes his hair, so he usually keeps it a little long and shaggy.

• His favorite names for his s/o: Sweetheart, Hon, and Cutie

• Surprisingly a switch.

Dutch

• Dutch is overprotective and possessive as hell. He constantly needs to know where his s/o is, who they are with, etc.

• His love language is physical affection and acts of service.

• He’ll steal stuff for his s/o since he’s literally a criminal.

• If someone is flirting with his s/o, he will put his arm around his s/o and straight up make out with them right in front of whoever is flirting with them. (That sentence made no sense help)

• He will fight anyone for his s/o. It doesn’t matter if it’s a guy twice his size or someone half his size, he won’t stop until he wins.

• Takes his s/o to parties and they get drunk together.

• He’s not big on nicknames, but he’ll occasionally call his s/o babe.

• Literally the only top in his friendgroup.

Tommy

• Tommy’s love language is acts of service and LOTS of quality time.

• He’ll make his s/o laugh SO MUCH. Bro is the funniest person on earth when he’s around them.

• Cuddling and watching a movie so him.

• He takes his s/o on motorcycle Just so they will cling to him, even though he isn’t big on physical affection.

• Can talk to his s/o about anything for hours. Everyday is a mind dump.

• Plays with his s/o hands before holding them.

• Also a switch, but mostly top.

• Loves the nickname prince/princess for his s/o.

Jimmy

• He talks about his s/o to his stuffed animals or his friends for hours if he isn’t talking to his s/o for hours.

• His love language is quality time and words of affirmation.

• He would try gift giving but his s/o said he didn’t have to do that so he respected what his s/o wanted.

• But he gives amazing gifts on holidays cause his family is rich rich.

• He is legit so shy it’s so cute. (He is bbg. Idc if he’s a male, he is my girlfriend, my bbg, my queen, my princess, my goddess.)

• He has so many hyperfixiations and loves sharing them with his s/o.

• He treats his s/o like a damn god/goddess.

Lazy Afternoon 2001 Soul / R&B / Jazz / Adult Contemporary

I'll have you know that I really love it when brands release these stupid-as-hell, ephemeral promo comps that try to offer you a glimpse into their product's "personality." Over the years I've gotten to know that the Czech version of Sprite loves lots of trip hop and big beat tunes, Pottery Barn's into classic soul, Levi's has something of a country-rock streak, and Mercedes-Benz digs themselves some chill European lounge grooves. And I've also been on the hunt for a while now to learn what the windshield wiper company Rain X listens to, but their promo has proven to be elusive to me thus far 😔. But we love to treat our brands like people though, don't we folks?

So, here's one of those promos from a Dutch beer company called Brand Bier that sells in the US as Royal Brand. Currently owned by Heineken, they've been brewing since the *14th century*, and have been known as Brand since the 1870s. And given that deep history, you might think that their taste in music goes way back too, but what this 2001 CD seems to suggest is that this particular beer's love for tunes actually only begins in the early 50s 🤔. And their genres of choice? Why, soul, R&B, and a little bit of jazz, of course, and almost all of it from North America too!

And unlike a bunch of other brand promo comps that I've sifted through, this one's actually pretty well-put-together. It's a bit of a cheat code since it has a bunch of enormous hits on it, like Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine," The Isley Brothers' "That Lady," Blood, Sweat & Tears' "Spinning Wheel," and Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing," but you'd probably never expect an Aretha Franklin deep cut, like her jazz-pop rendition of George & Ira Gershwin's "It Ain't Necessarily So," which appeared on her 1960 debut album, to be on a CD like this one. That song was never released as a single and it predates her rise to superstardom by about six or seven years.

So, sometimes I find that CDs like these serve better as coasters than they do as soundtracks for which to drink your beer by, but the photo used for this album's cover seems to nail the vibe pretty perfectly here. This is just a pleasant hour's-plus worth of classic tunes to sit on a floor and sip a beverage to; but stay away from the small handful of more modern adult contemporary 90s selections, though, because those tunes don't seem to have aged nearly as well as any of the ones that were recorded before them.

Some thoughts about the newest iCarly Revival ep, i'M a USA Bae

Alright, first of all I wanna say that I liked this episode a little bit better than the last one. I think it was able to serve its feminist purpose subtlety without taking away the fun and entertainment in it. With that, let's get into it deeper.

Main plot first. I think it's nice how we see Carly get opportunities related to her work. It helps show how she earns money and what problems she has as a full-time content creator. The spoof on the American Girl dolls was spot and reminiscent to spoofs from the original series. Then you have Carly's conflict about wanting to be a good role model—it's a very good topic to dive into because iCarly was one of the blueprints of utilizing the internet for entertainment (on and off-screen) and we all know now how unnecessarily brutal online communities are now. Side note, Miranda and Josh's dynamic is really fresh but also familiar and I like how it ties in with the show; it's also a good way to show a completely platonic male friendship of Carly's and I can't help but think if Paul would get along with Spencer. I'm really loving Paul in the show and I hope he becomes a recurring character.

Side plot A. I'm kinda hating how we don't get a lot of good Harper plots. I feel like we've brushed off Dutch way too easily and I want to see her be a human being that feels feelings. So far she's been more of a gag but hopefully the remaining episodes explore her more. There's really a lot about Harper that I wish to know given she's not an OG series character.

Side plot B. Surprisingly enough, Freddie's subplot was handled pretty well, in my opinion. It still felt like a subplot but at least it was essential to his growth as a character. As much as I'd like to see adult Creddie get together, Pearl and Freddie don't seem so bad. I'm seeing that the difficult parts of their relationship is starting but it's interesting to point out that—at this point—they are taking it slow. I think it is absolutely important for Freddie to take it slow, not only because of his two divorces, but also because Freddie has a lot on his plate right now. I did notice something important, but we'll talk about it on my next point... But before I do, Spencer knowing how to talk to a monkey makes so much sense it was very Ross Gellar of him + what happened to Jericho the falcon and Marvin the ostrich?

Now, Creddie hints. Not a lot on this episode aside from two important things I've noticed: 1) how they sit next to each other and 2) Freddie's comment about taking things slow. I might dedicate a whole analysis about their sitting next to each other some other time, so for now all I can say is that it's interesting to see that despite being comfortable with each other there is a respect for boundaries. I don't find it sad that Carly doesn't sit or stand as close to Freddie like before he started dating Pearl because it shows how much she respects and wants him to be happy. Now, Freddie's comment about taking things slow... To keep it simple, it's funny how Freddie says he never takes things slow when it's quite possible that he's already playing the long game with Carly. On second thought, maybe I should create a separate analysis for this too?

Overall, the episode was alright. It was definitely better than last week but I hope we get out of the mid-season slump very soon. I'm absolutely excited for the few eps we have left!

Heinrich von Schneeplestein!

Backstory & fun facts below the cut!

Heinrich is 38, 5′3, and a trans pansexual man!

Heinrich was born peacefully, unlike his brothers, as ‘Henrik’. Jack planned his entire life and existence from baby to his Henrik von Schneeplestein. He was a perfected Creation and, oh boy, does he know it. He was born right in front of Jack and immediately covered in blankets so he could come to terms with his backstory. The first words he spoke was an awkward, accented: “Someone get me coffee with whiskey or I kill everyone in this room.”

Henrik remembers an uneventful, spoiled life as the son of a rich single father in Germany. He remembers an easy, fully paid for FtM transition after only asking twice. He remembers medical school and a rowdy group of troublemakers as his college companions. He remembers Miranda, a Dutch exchange student, who he fell wildy, loudly in love with. He remembers the attractive tennis instructor that made him realise he loved men. He remembers Miranda sleeping with that instructor in revenge when she found out. He ripped apart everything from college while drunk the next day. He dropped contact with everyone, moved to Britain, and began using his three years of medical school to treat criminals and underground magicians. Occasionally, while living with the others, strange, shady people started showing up begging for Henrik. Well, actually... They asked for ‘Heinrich.’

Heinrich, as it turns out his actual name is, is an egomaniac at his core. He is, to himself, alway the smartest, hottest, coolest, funniest person in the room. When working in the hospital, his methods are very similar to Dr. House from House M.D. Heinrich is convinced he knows best, and to the chagrin of his colleagues, Heinrich is smart enough that he’s usually right. Heinrich isn’t self aware of it, but he shows a large amount of ADHD symptoms, with a tendency to hyperfixate on patient’s cases until they’re healed or dead. 

Jack loves Heinrich, and finds his egotistical behaviour charming and hilarious. They’re fond of each other and definitely friends, but they don’t spend much time together due to not sharing many interests. 

Jackie and Heinrich are BEST FRIENDS! They adore and feed off each other’s personalities greatly. Heinrich is confident enough to rub off on Jackie even in his most self-loathing moments. Jackie is kind and loving in a way that validates and assures Heinrich emotionally. They love just going for walks and talking, doing chores together, just plain being side by side. Heinrich buys Jackie his favourite foods and always patches him up after his escapades out on the street. 

Marvin is not fond of Heinrich when he’s first born. Why does Heinrich get to be perfect and loved by everyone? Why should he get to steal Jackie’s love? After months and months of bickering and hatred, Jackie blew up at Marvin in a shouting match worthy of a noise complaint. After this, Marvin began to apologise with actions, not words, and they slowly became more friendly and teasing in their bickering. 

Heinrich and Chase are very much the typical big & little brother! Heinrich does have shame and anger about the doctors not letting him help with Chase’s surgery and recovery after his attempt. Heinrich makes up for this by patching up every wound, sitting with him through every single breakdown, teasing and loving on Chase every chance he has. 

Heinrich does become good friends with Body/Jameson as he heals, but you will have to wait and see the story. ;-)

Heinrich is very proud of his trans identity and goes to pride every chance he gets. At work though, he’s closeted and tries to keep it just within his family.

Everyone close to Heinrich calls him Schneep! In fact it’s bizarre and usually a sign of danger if his brothers say his actual name. 

Heinrich always keeps his hair shaved-short and long on top. It’s his BRAND and if his hair is not neat, something is distressing him. 

Heinrich is fluent in German, English, and Mandarin!

Rance Howard was serving three years in the United States Air Force at the time of Ron's birth.

He is an American director, producer, screenwriter, and actor. Howard started his career as a child actor before transitioning to directing films. Over his six decade career, Howard has received two Academy Awards, four Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Grammy Award. Nederland 3 - Channel Rebrand from Woodwork on Vimeo.

One of Netherland’s major tv channels asked our friend at Dog and Pony to develop a new strategy and creative concept, so we teamed up to take on this project and we are as proud as peacocks with the ultimate result.

‘Nederland 3’ is an innovative channel that tries to heighten the interconnectedness between Dutch citizens. They try to achieve this by broadcasting programs that are, besides being informative, inspirational and offering entertainment; innovative. The programs show for what they are and reveal how it could be. It focuses on true stories featuring real people. Their voice is without prejudice in unconventional and surprising ways. Goal is to encourage viewers to change the way they look at the world. The more you see, the better you will understand it. Hence, the new slogan of Nederland 3: ‘Anders kijken, meer zien’ which translates into English: ‘take a different view, see more’. Our challenge was to find a way to refresh the channel, keeping the heritage of the channel in mind. It has a lot to offer and we wanted to give them the opportunity to literally show more in different ways. Our solution was a dynamic grid based on the logo’s shape. Where views from different angles and perspectives can be visualized in a dynamic lens framework. The restyling matches Nederland 3 in a way that it both pushes boundaries, not afraid of experimenting; it zooms, delays and shifts focus.

The grid also determines the promo package that we developed for the channel. It is a modular system that can incorporate any piece of content, which means that every second of an evening’s programming can be displayed from start to finish. The grid brings to life what’s at the heart of Nederland 3: the more people see of the world, the better they will understand it. Overall it’s about engaging different perspectives, innovative programming and captivating viewers; all in one place.

LLB Special ($10.90). As a starving marvin, I found this sandwich spot and immediately got lost in the menu. Dont get me wrong, the options they give you here seems limitless. Settled on the LLB which consists of "Roast Beef, Turkey, Ham, Swiss, Provolone" on dutch crunch. The sandwich is ready in no time and shortly after i'm inhaling this beast down! The sandwich was tasty and not as messy as I thought it would be. The dutch crunch gave it an exra "SF" flavor and texture.
