A/N: Hello readers! I kinda made up this hc topic because I was dying to write but I didn't know what I should write about. So I hope you enjoy!

ATSUSHI:

Atsushi gets flustered easily at praise, always blushing with embarrassment and hiding his face

You find it cute how easy it is to make his face flush with red

Usually you praise him after he does a good job at work, on missions or even with paperwork

You especially love it when he beams as bright as the sun, saying thank you with such excitement that your heart melts

It feels like your job to protect Atsushi's innocence, even though he had been through so much, you wanted to make him smile as much as you could

Whenever you praise him, you also ruffle his choppy hair, just to see his cute pout as he whined about his messed up hair

Atsushi just makes you smile no matter what, he is a cinnamon roll 🩷

RANPO:

Whenever Ranpo recieves praise, he always takes the chance to boast about how he is the best detective in the world

When you praise him, you also offer him some candy, and Ranpo still can't figure out how you have candy on you 24/7

Usually, you praise him on doing well on cases, especially ones where Ranpo doesn't whine about how stupid the other people are

Ranpo also likes to make a competition out of it, especially with Yosano, on who got more praises from you

Your praise also cheers him up and makes him feel better about himself anytime he feels that he's not at his best or if there is a stressful crisis

You love to praise Ranpo just to see his face light up even more as he jumps up to tell everyone that he was praised by you

This guy def has a praise kink tbh

KYOUKA:

Kyouka was devoid of affection for most of her childhood, so her showing emotion is pretty rare

But whenever you praise her, you can see her face flush and she'll give you those wide puppy eyes that make your heart melt

You usually praise her for missions done well, but you also praise her for actually taking time to socialize even though she's very shy and has trust issues

You also like to pat her head when you praise her, making her flush even more and whisper to you to stop patting her head because she's so embarrased

After she gets over her embarrasment though, she gives you the sweetest smile and whispers out a thank you

You think Kyouka deserves all the love and care she can get from everyone she considers close to her

Idk how this gurl is so CUTE

KENJI:

Now Kenji is just a ball of sunshine really (I am ignoring that part in the manga if you manga readers know what I mean)

You love praising him just to see his face light up and how his energy bursts through the roof

It seems magical whenever Kenji is happy, and to make him as happy as he can be, you praise him on anything, whether it might be completing a mission or just giving you coffee just the way you like it

Sometime the other (aka Ranpo/Atsushi/Dazai) get jealous of how much you praise him

Just like Atsushi, you love to ruffle his hair and tell him how well he did on his mission or assignment

Kenji just laughs sweetly whenever you mess up his hair, making you let you a soft aww at how cute he is

I feel like Kenji is underrated, I love this kid sm ♥

Dongfang Xianyun transmigrates as the eldest disciple of the Care-free sect. But the only thing that goes through his mind is to make sure he doesn’t end up dying by the hands of the “main character.” He believes he’s just a side character. He just wants to relax and survive all the mayhem surrounding him while dealing with one of his jealous sect teammates, who grew corrupted in the past life.

*Transmigration = similar to isekai, but the world where the characters get isekai’d to is not always a western fantasy type. And a transmigrator is one who transmigrates.

It was animated by P.A. Works! As far as I know, they also worked on Buddy Daddies, Angel Beats, Ya Boy Kongming, etc. Cygames also contributed to this anime!! The story is creative as well. Who would’ve thought of a cute maid mafia anime? Keep in mind, this is a P. A. Works ORIGINAL. They went SO crazy on this anime. There’s also 12 episodes, which means that you can binge it all on one day and still be satisfied :D The OP and ED are also catchy, creative and unskippable. Despite its dark themes, it can sometimes get a little more “lighthearted” and silly, even in the most violent scenes ;P

Trigger Warnings: Flashing Lights, Graphic Depictions of Cruelty/Violence/Gore.

Just like what I explained, it’s violent. A lot of guns. And a lot of blood. Yes, they kill fellow maids in like every episode ever lol. Also, since Akiba is known to have flashy street signs, like every city ever…. And the guns, of course…that’s why I put the Flashing Lights warning.

This series is kind of insane but also just a lot of fun! The thing is, the shidi (junior martial sect brother), Yin Feixing, felt betrayed by his dashixiong (eldest senior sect brother), Dongfang Xianyun, after he was seemingly rejected for ending up studying the demonic arts. After he dies, he decides to take revenge in the next life, and this is where our story starts off…

The only problem is his dashixiong has been replaced by a transmigrator. And our new Dongfang Xianyun is not as cold or uptight as the past dashixiong (but as the story unravels, was he even that bad?); rather, this version is silly and goofy and fun. And because he believes wholeheartedly that Yin Feixing is the protagonist, he doesn’t act the way a dashixiong is expected to—but it’s in this silliness that one can find sincerity…

So as Yin Feixing exacts his revenge, turning Dongfang Xianyun into a demonic arts practitioner, Dongfang Xianyun’s new soul means he won’t follow the same path as Yin Feixing. Rather than fall to ruins like Yin Feixing, his empathy and creativity means he challenges this entire world by making his fellow demonic practitioners into law-abiding heroes, even as people hate him for the demonic arts. So as multiple plots unfurl, we get a pretty emotional, thematically interesting story, even amidst all the (very funny) crazy comedy, and a clever parody of xianxia* and other transmigration stories. 😆

(*Xianxia (仙侠 xiānxiá) – literally means “Immortal Heroes”. Fictional stories featuring magic, demons, ghosts, immortals, and a great deal of Chinese folklore/mythology. Oh, and Gong Changsheng is best puppy! He’s such a good sunflower boy with the biggest crush on Dongfang Xianyun, and I love them so much. I think lots of others will love them too if they gave this series a chance. 🥺

Amon Garam is underrated tbh

(Warning: Spoilers for Yugioh GX)

When talking about GX characters I feel like a lot of people overlook Amon Garam/Adrian Gecko. He is probably one of my favorite characters.

Look, I get it, he's a piece of crap and deserved to be wiped out by Yubel/Johan. But I like what he represents in the story and how different he is from the rest of the main cast.

He's introduced as a jovial and sort of eccentric ace duelist in S3. Like a personal rival to Manjoume/Chazz, same background (rich boy) but somewhat...better (less impulsive, more clever, overall better duelist) which is exposed on their sky duel.

And then he starts to change and become colder, more ruthless, smug and manipulative as S3 goes on, especially after partnering with Yubel. He sacrifices the woman he loves in order to attain Exodia's power without any second thoughts and he really seems to embrace his new role as King.

The scene where he's riding Exodia and refuses to finish the recently de-SKized Judai/Jaden is quite telling. He's drunk on power. He gambled and got a hell of a pay. And unlike Judai, who became SK after a hell of a traumatic event or Saio/Sartotius who was possesed by the Light of Destruction, Amon did it all consciously and out of his own will. No demonic possession, no LoD, no ancient millenary item possesion, nothing. Just an extremely ambitious bastard. In a way, he reminds me of Seto Kaiba in the early Yugioh manga chapters, before he got Mind Crushed by Yami.

Eventually, Yubel possessing Johan snaps him back to reality by kicking his ass and wiping him out. Right before dying he 1) reveals that actually he wanted to become King to the typical "making the world a better place" shtick and 2) shows regret for killing Echo.

While number 1 seems to come out of nowhere and feels like a lame attempt to somewhat redeem him, I think it makes him even more tragic. I think of Amon and he reminds me of complex antihero "ends justify the means" characters like Canute from Vinland Saga and Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass.

(YES I just compared Yugioh with Vinland and Geass)

I feel like, if Yugioh broadened its scope to maybe a more mature setting, characters like Amon could probably be rewritten in a more neutral or even sympathetic light. And yet, because GX is deeply inside a shonen anime focused on promoting a card game, such risks couldn't be taken.

And don't get me wrong, I think Amon was very well handed. He feels like an inverse of Axel O'Brien. While Axel starts as a stoic, cold and aloof duelist loyal to the shady Professor Cobra, Amon gets introduced as a charming and skilled guy who seems to oppose Cobra's schemes (after all, that means he's a good guy, right?) And yet, Axel ends up warming up to the main cast and even being (along with Jim) the one who saves Judai, while Amon ends up going the dark route. The fact they both come from Academies located on opposite cardinal points (Amon from east, Axel from west) might not be a mere coincidence.

To top it off, I just love how Amon and Axel end up in such different spots at the series finale.

Axel? With the main cast, being one more of them, eating, drinking, cracking a few jokes, enjoying their company. He's part of the gang despite arriving later. Like Johan (and my boy Jim)

Amon? Who the hell knows. And who the hell cares. Dead. Forgotten. Vanished into nothing. Sentenced to life in the Shadow Realm. And the best part is that, aside from his aparition on the "missing student cards" on S3 ending, nobody brings him up at all. They dislike him so much that for what they know he may be being devored by harpies or tortured in some dungeon in the Dark World, it's all the same for the gang. They have better things to think about than some power drunk greedy ambitious asshole who killed the woman he loved for nothing.

Axel won friends, which is why he was given a second chance in S4. Amon lost it all, which is why he's one of the few GX characaters that died permanently. Maybe it was Shin Yoshida's intention to send a message in favor of personal bonds and connections. Maybe he forgot about Amon.

But no matter what, Amon is probably one of the GX characters that caught my attention the most.

I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love

Bullets, while an absolute mess, is one of my favorite MCR albums. I think it’s underrated and deserves more love, though I get why it doesn’t appeal to everyone. These are my thoughts about each song on Bullets, not including covers and other tracks they performed in that era.

Romance - Not too much to say, a simple but nice album opener, I like the old-timey vibe and how it speeds up a little in the second half

Honey - one of my favorites off Bullets and the second song to catch my eye, big fan of the lyrics and vocals in general, especially the contrast between the softer slower parts and Gee’s screaming, I also really like the layering. In terms of meaning, I think it’s about an ex-girlfriend of Mikey’s, which I heard in a radio interview from 2002 (I don’t remember which one), though I think we’re all familiar with Gee’s iconic intro. Additionally, there’s a music video based on the Japanese horror film Audition, and it’s really fucking weird

Vampires - another of my favorites from this album, I really like the build, my favorite part is probably around 4:10 when he sings “I’ll never let them hurt you”, I adore the ending (starting about 4:26), I especially like the whispers at the very end, I love how frantic and desperate the whole song is. I’m pretty sure the song is about alcoholism/people who encourage your bad habits and drag you down with them, though I don’t recall where I read/heard that. Also, fun fact, Vampires was the song that originally got Geoff Rickly from Thursday to produce Bullets: “Saavedra sent him a CD of a song called ‘Vampires Will Never Hurt You’ and it blew Rickly’s mind. ‘I called them right away and said, “This is really cool. I’ve never heard anything quite like it.” You could hear their influences, I heard some Thursday, some AFI and some other things in there but it was unique enough – and especially for a band only a month old. I was really impressed.’” (Not the Life It Seems: The True Lives of My Chemical Romance, 35-36) Also, the video -- the gothic aesthetic, the low quality camera, the bad lighting, the awkward angles, the bad early 2000s editing, Frank’s hair -- I love it all

Drowning Lessons - more great lyrics, I love the middle part (2:16-2:43), the end is great where it fades out and then comes back with a different riff and then fades out again, a very fun song, such a shame that it’s never played live

Our Lady of Sorrows - a fun, punchy song, a lot of great screaming, especially at the end, I love the riff(? guitar thingy) at 1:20, my favorite part is 1:34-1:47, also Gee’s favorite lyric (at least at one point) “Oh how wrong we were to think that immortality meant never dying”. Not sure what this one’s about other than a knife fight

Headfirst for Halos - I feel bad, but this is one of my least favorite songs from this album, I don’t even have it on my MCR playlist, still a fun rhythm and guitar part with comically dark contrasting lyrics. I’ve heard it’s based in part on Peter Pan with the references to pixie dust, thinking happy thoughts, and flying home

Skylines and Turnstiles - the song that started it all, I didn’t really like it the first time I heard it, but it really grew on me and now I love it, some of the best lyrics from Bullets, dark and beautiful and hopeful, especially given the context of 9/11, my favorite song intro from this album

Early Sunsets over Monroeville - I’m shaking and sobbing, my favorite song from Bullets and one of my favorite MCR songs overall, the first song to really catch my eye (more like grab me by the throat), beautiful and heart wrenching and amazing and so fucking sad and devastating, every time I listen to this song I either start crying or get really close, everything about this song is divine and gut-wrenching but starting at 2:12 it just destroys me completely, the lyrics, his fucking screams, the rawness, I mean “And there’s no room in this hell / There’s no room in the next / And our memories defeat us / And I’ll end this direst”, I’m never going to recover from listening to this. Also, fun fact, Gee’s performance of Early Sunsets was so powerful that “‘Afterwards, everybody just left and went outside to smoke cigarettes because they couldn’t deal with looking at him after he had sung that,’ says Rickly. ‘He had just ripped himself open in front of everybody. He’d taken it so far that it was uncomfortable for anyone who was friends with him. They hadn’t seen him as Gerard the singer, they still saw him as their buddy Gerard. It’s a little scary to see someone do what he did.’” (Not the Life It Seems: The True Lives of My Chemical Romance, 61)

This Is the Best Day Ever - like Headfirst to Halos I don’t have this on my MCR playlist, I just feel somewhat lukewarm about this song, though I really like 0:40-0:47 with the fun guitar part and rhythm of “Every hour / On the hour”, and I love the build during 1:05-1:20, it’s not as interesting melodically as most of their other songs but it does have some pretty fun variations, especially considering how short it is

Cubicles - another song that I was initially dubious of but warmed to a lot, I like the whole song but I especially like the switch at 1:56 and then how it builds through 2:54, my favorite part is at 3:11-3:28 with the cool guitar riff and the fading our vocals and the repetition of “I think I’d love to die alone”, overall a very nice song that I rarely seek out to listen to but never skip

Demolition Lovers - a brilliant album closer, another one of my favorites, probably my second favorite on Bullets which is funny considering I thought it was kind of underwhelming the first few times I heard it, everything is great from Gee’s emotional delivery to the builds throughout the first half to that break at 2:50, and then that simple quiet melody with the guitar slowly joined by the drums and then finally Gee’s voice so tenderly at 3:33, fucking beautiful, and then how it picks back up at 4:09 with that great guitar solo before Gee returns at 5:04 with so much desperation and pain, absolutely amazing song, very strong end for Bullets, and definitely the most coherent narratively

I intend to go through all of MCR’s albums and then their other work in later posts, and I’m thinking about ranking the songs in each album as well. Feel free to share your own thoughts and opinions with me.

YET! ), I highly enjoy writing this all encompassing and multiversal glitch, [ REDACTED ], also known as just [ ? ] for short, who is the protagonist of the Godly Trilogy along with the Consumer / You! The personality of [ REDACTED ] is literally everything and anything as xe has a whole different identity and life to each individual xe would interact with, so it’s extremely fun to write xem while xe is generally known to be unpredictable, comical and tragic all at once! Even xyr writing style is meant to be chaotic and overwhelming, just as xyr nature is. Here are of my favourite parts of roleplay replies I had written!:

1.     Slowly, xe nods, understands how in the Universe, there has to be some form of an explanation for everything— from life to death, lightness to darkness, you and I with our existences.   [   Though, I do not have mine yet. Please, be patient with me. I am trying not to make my explanation be of just swallowed stars and stolen shadows.   ]   A hum falls from the strangest ones and zeroes, this sound gently caressing reality, unholy blade right against its invisible skin.

2.     Once, twice, forever, this conversation repeats. It does start differently again and again and again and again, yet, the familiarity in the moment that bears the exchange is still faint, dying—   [   I am curious because I am meant to be, all paths lead to this, but in the end, I look at you, with all of your scars and stars, because I care about you. Fate will never have the privilege to write the reasons with my love.    ]   Xe shifts in xyr seat closer to him, gaze gentle as own scars all over xyr body softly glow white, this sight a reminder that he is not alone.

3.   TO BE DEATH BOUND, ALL DARKNESS CONSUMED. Fate does not care about how much would one offer from themself to have a place they most desire in the Afterlife.   (   The greatest heroes may still fall into the abyss and be turned into dead memories, the petty wrongdoers may still be brought to the paradise and make rain forever red.   )  Fate will have the Universe only keep on expanding while growing hotter until it snaps, and there will be no poems and arts that are correct on how it ends. Though, regardless of where one goes after their death, is their final coming to peace unenough? It should be possible: Making a home out of Nothing , like the way the Demiurge can create Life from Emptiness. WE CAN BE SOMETHING MORE TOO.   [   You have to not only pray and pray and pray for a better resting home, but believe, believe, be.   ]

I’ve always been fascinated with the concepts of humanity, identity, narrative / metafiction,  religion / mythology / folklore, storytelling, the multiverse! There is so much to think about ( and be emotional over, lmfao ) relating to them that makes me very grateful that I have this life to get to experience and explore these things that are very inspiring and wonderful and interesting, so I combined them together to have this massive project. [ REDACTED ] actually inspired by me to have a project that is as all encompassing and multieverything because I want to explore every genres, types of mediums beyond just a novel, prominent and underrated character concepts / story tropes, just everything there is with arts and storytelling as I want to understand and appreciate them all!

With medias that have inspired me to do God Exits and the Godly Trilogy itself, the Adventures With Markiplier series has the most inspiring to me, especially Mark’s In Space With Markiplier that is not only a choose your own story, but it also explores different art styles, the gradual awareness of being in a story and loop, and having compassion even when everyone and everything wants to hurt / kill you. And then, Everything Everywhere All at Once also became another most inspiring media to me! ( Such a beautiful story that shows how love and hope are truly everywhere and can endure everything... )

Ultimately, I hope to have God Exits and the Godly Trilogy be a reminder to people of what life is and how we should come to appreciate it in our own healthy and kind ways before everything and everyone and everywhere comes to the end. <3

I feel like the most writing related challenge I have is coming up with these ideas and then sticking to them. Often times when I write my oneshots or do roleplay replies, I just write whatever comes to mind after I have my beginning and end thought out, going with the flow more than making the ideas and following them. 2 - season 2 is my favorite, i love shane and jenny as roommates, carmen being introduced as a character, shane/carmen, alice/dana, jenny has her best character arc and most growth in this season, and it's a fun and light season for the most part. also shane's short hair phase...........

1 - season 1 is the most classic, i love getting to know them and their friendships this season and all the drama. the bette and tina stuff and jenny's story are entertaining for the most part, but the show was still finding it's footing and some characters didn't have enough screentime

4 - season 4 is underrated imo, it's probably the funniest and one of the most lighthearted seasons, i really miss dana :( but i love tasha and enjoy the new characters like jodi and papi. there's a lot of great moments here like the basketball game and alice bette and shane stealing the sign

3 - i do still love season 3, mostly because of shane/carmen and jenny still being herself, but most of it is far too depressing. alice/dana breaking up, dana's illness and DYING, shane/carmen breaking up, everyone treating max like crap, bette and tina's fighting....it's just a lot and i find it hard to rewatch

5 - i know a lot of people love season 5, but i find it too ridiculous and goofy. the whole movie plotline is so stupid and some characters are flanderized. jenny is hilarious, but the way the wrote her character was total bullshit.

6 - season 6 is dogshit. no part of it was enjoyable, killing off jenny was so disrespectful, the way they did shane and jenny's relationship was also disrespectful, tasha being into jamie for no reason, dylan coming back to be with helena, it was all garbage tbh

Elf

A family favorite in our house. Touches on the overworking and mistreatment of employees through Greenway Press – Walter forced to choose between being with his family on Christmas Eve or losing his job, it’s implied Deb has a pet grooming business on the side to makes ends meet despite being a receptionist at a NY publishing company, etc.

Honestly most of the points come from Jonie’s underrated yet highly relatable storyline. She works in retail, exhausted and cynical towards the high-paced Christmas season which gives her little to no relief or reward, since she’s surviving on ramen noodles and using the employee showers because her water was cut off. Not expanded on enough to be considered a true Marxist piece but the effort is appreciated.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Although the meme is correct in that Rudolph’s red nose becomes desirable only once it proves to be useful, it does get points for exposing the harmful nature of forced conformity and those alienated by these capitalist ideals -- Rudolph, Hermie, the island of misfit toys -- are given a place to belong despite the perceived “flaws” that before made them undesirable.

Also the elves definitely have a free dental-plan now thanks to Hermie and are hopefully on their way to unionizing. Fucking superb you funky little misfit.

Turns a member of the bourgeoisie into a man I’d trust to carry my mail. Respect for postal workers this movie contains was ahead of its time.

 No direct takedown of the establishment but a heartwarming message -- “A true selfless act always sparks another” bITCH I may be crying -- that emphasizes the importance of giving to others even when there is no selfish motivation to do so, which is inherently anti-capitalist.

The Santa dynasty itself seems to operate under the cutthroat rules of the business world where you must overthrow (or in this case, throw him off the roof) the former CEO in order to seize power.

A Christmas Carol 

THE ORIGINAL. Charles Dickens was not even in the neighborhood of fucking around with this one. CREATED the anti-capitalist Christmas genre!!

Rich man treats his employees like shit and gets terrorized by three ghosts on Christmas Eve. Force him to redistribute his wealth by dragging him through a montage of his most epic fails -- oh, hey, remember when your fiancé left you? -- and make him listen as all his employees and relatives complain about his stingy ass. 

They end this slideshow by throwing this dude into his own grave. DIRECT ACTION. 

Like damn, the ghosts really said, “If you hoard your resources and ignore those in need when you could directly improve/save lives with no cost to yourself, you will die ALONE and you WILL pay for your crimes in hell.” Literally watching this movie is a catharsis for anyone who is or has been poor and working class. 

I’m including all versions of this movie but a special shout out to the Muppet version because it fucks the hardest.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

Listen I’m not even in realms of joking with this one. This movie is THE anti-capitalist film of the holiday season. 

WhoVille commercializing Christmas and a fixation on consumer culture to the point where anything and anyONE who cannot be commodified -- aka the GRINCH -- is alienated? The Whos rediscovering that people should be cherished over material items once it all is stolen and they must confront how empty the holiday has become??

Cindy Lou becoming disillusioned in Christmas -- at an age that coincides when many children (those who celebrate Christmas at least) lost belief in Santa and had to wrestle with what the holiday means with the magic gone and they’re more aware of the rampant consumerism that taints the season?? Her resolve to find a meaning that goes beyond material consumption because if a holiday founded on goodwill doesn’t extend that goodwill to everyone, even those society deems undesirable, then what’s the point???

The Grinch despising Christmas because he is unable to participate and isolated from the Whos and also the better qualities within himself? His alienation serving to demonize him further as it allows the public to narrow his valid criticisms of the holiday down to him being different and thus inherently predisposed to evil?? And hmm isn’t it interesting that a LOT of this demonization comes via Mayor Augustus “generously paid for by the tax-payers of Whoville” Maywho, Mr. 1% himself.

The upper vs working class divide evident in the light show competition between Martha May and Betty Lou Who?? The opening scene of the shopping frenzy that mirrors our own consumerist culture and overworking of retail/poster workers??? This entire monologue:

“That's what it's all about, isn't it? That's what it's always been about. Gifts, gifts... gifts, gifts, gifts, gifts, gifts! You wanna know what happens to your gifts? They all come to me. In your garbage. You see what I'm saying? In your garbage. I could hang myself with all the bad Christmas neckties I found at the dump. And the avarice... the avarice never ends! ‘I want golf clubs. I want diamonds. I want a pony so I can ride it twice, get bored and sell it to make glue.’"

This story is very sad but very beautiful - the writing is a stunning demonstration of how much feeling can be captured in the narration of every day experience. And truly underrated into terms of kudos and hits. Bucky goes to war but Steve doesn't. The character studies are fantastic. The gulf between Steve's life remaining in Brooklyn and Bucky's at the front is drawn out without fanfare or drama. Perfection. It's sad, but it's worth it.

Told in four parts, this story encompasses a year in Steve and Bucky's life prior to Bucky's draft notice, his time on the Italian front, his life for the next five years as he tries to pick up the broken pieces of his shattered mental state and put everything back together,and his inevitable return to Brooklyn for Steve

Hi Callie! In your opinion, what are the top ten best Mccoy centric episodes in TOS? You don't have to answer if you don't want to, thanks for reading anyways! ❤️

Ooh, good question! This is a little hard because McCoy, compared to Kirk and Spock, didn’t get a lot of centric episodes. Actually I think he only really got like… two out of 79 episodes (depending on how you view it). But he DOES have a large prescence in others, so let me see here…

1. The Empath Technically it’s a Triumvirate episode, but this has McCoy’s best moment in the entire show. Like if you want to understand McCoy’s character, this is the episode that you turn to. I already blabbed about why once so I’ll let that go into it for me.

2. For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky: While some of the execution is a bit iffy, this is still a realy excellent episode. Mainly because DeForest Kelley plays McCoy here with everything that he has and just nails everything, McCoy’s sadness, loneliness, and invevat le fate of dying in a year, masterfully. The episode would be NOWHERE near as good if not for De Kelley.

3. The Man Trap: This and the last one are the only two McCoy-centric episodes, at least that I recall. This one often gets overlooked since it’s first so I think that the emotional impact gets lost. But God McCoy in this episode is just outright tragic. I wrote a whole post about it because it felt so unfair that it was overlooked because there is SO MUCH there. Also mrke amazing De Kelley acting

4. All Our Yesterdays: While McCoy does spend a good chunk of it passed out from hypothermia, he is freakin’ excellent in this episode. He’s not only hilarious (“He means it’s cold!”, De’s delivery made me burst out laughing) but when he’s finally awake, he’s just freakin’ awesome. He put himself at GREAT risk to snap Spock out of his mental state and then went ‘screw it’ and tried to find the portal home cause he wants his life back, with or without Spock (but preferably with Spock). He’s just great~!

5. Return to Tomorrow: This whole episode is super underrated. It’s the one where the alien beings posess Kirk, Spock, and Lady of the Week’s bodies. McCoy is the ONLY rational person in the episode and the one who has to deal with the majority of the problem. He has to both worry about everyone’s minds in the orbs and what the aliens do to their human bodies and is VERY concerned throughout. It also demonstrates how devkted to his profession and oath that he is. He even outright risks Kirk dying for good, as painful as it is for him, because it would mean allowing another to die and like Hell is he doing that. Seriously, this one is so freakin’ overlooked.

6. Bread and Circuses/The Immunity Syndrome/The Tholian Web: Yeah three way tie cause they all have one thing in common: they feature his complicated relationship with Spock. The first one I wrote a whole meta about already. It’s a Spones analysis, but it reflects why McCoy himself is great in this episode along with all hos geneal grumpy snark throughout. Oh and the ending with him throwing a mattess at a guy… and he wins IIRC. Best underrated comedy moment EVER. With the second, he’s not at all happy with Spock being picked over him to examine the amoeba and that Spock may die. Their whole interaction in the hangar, McCoy waiting until the doors close to wish Spock luck, Spock’s seeming final words, and of course “Shut up Spock! We’re rescuing you!”. The last one of course has Kirk gone and McCoy is angry, grieving, and stressed with everyone losing their minds and Spcok pressuring him to fix it all at the same time and he takes it out on Spock. Then they see Kirk’s final message and we all know what happens after. All three do such a great job showing how much McCoy cares about Spock and showcasing how great they really are together, and not even just the shippy sense. Only reason they’re at six is because of how closely tied to Spock he is in those episodes instead of being the central character, but he IS still central in them and showcase some of his best moments. So I hope I got my point across XD

7. A Private Little War: The episode’s message is kind of… questionable. But ignoring thay, McCoy is the real freakin’ hero of this story. It’s only because of him that Kirk survived and he’s more than willing to contront him on his questionable decision making. Which is the very thing that Kirk brought him for to begin with. It’s one of the best episode to show how much he cares about Kirk and the lengths he’ll go for him. Oh and he kept Spock from dying along with Chapel and M’Benga. Thank God he has competent medical staff who can do the job without him XD

8. Journey to Babel: Okay yes this is a Spock episode, but McCoy is VERY prominent throughout. He’s both hilarious in the cold opening and we all remember his reaction to Spock’s ‘teddy bear’ XD. But he managed to conduct a VERY risky surgery that put Spock and Sarek at great risk if he screwed up. A surgery he’s never really conducted. And during a battle that causes frequent rattling to boot. He succeeded and the episode appropriately rewards him by allowing him the final word. It’s not only oen of the best episodes showing why he’s the CMO, but he’s just freakin’ great the whole episode.

9. Amok Time: Again it’s a Spock episode, but I repeat what I said about Return to Tomorrow: McCoy is the real hero. He’s the one who recognizes that something is horribly wrong, puts up with zero excuses, actually usus logic to get Spock to comply, and of course it was him who saved both Kirk and Spock’s sorry butts. They’d both likely be dead had McCoy not been there. He may have had the least screentime of the three, but he damn wel made up for it.

10. Operation: Annahilate: It has one of the saddest but strongest McCoy scenes. Through the whole episode he’s super protectice of Spock, running various tests to get rid of the parasites and trying to keep Kirk’s kid nephew alive all at the same time. Then he gets made by Kirk and Spock to risk blinding the latter… and DOES blind him. Then his face when the test result revelaed that he didn’t need to use an jntense light and being outright unresponsive when Kirk calls him later… just ouch. It’s one of those moments I wish it had gone more in depth, but upseide is we have haply McCoy by the end. Want proof of how much he cares for Spock and others? Here you go

And he has really good scenes in other episodes despite varying levels of prominence (Miri, Space Seed, The Galileo Seven, This Side of Pradise, The City on the Edge of Forever, Mirror, Mirror, Friday’s Child, The Ultimate Computer, Spock’s Brain… no seriosuly he’s the biggest bright spot in that and for certain S3 episodes tbh). It’s a HUGE shame that he was treated like the third wheel both in series and the films, and even now gets the raw end of the deal in popular media. But I hope that this was a satisfactory list Anon. Sorry it got all wordy and long, I can’t help myself sometimes XD

Three, Two, One

Working through my list of requests, I was really grateful to be able to fulfill this one from anon, who asked: 

I have ptsd, and really loud, sudden noises and sudden touches can make me have a panic attack, so can you do something where there’s a really loud noise or someone touches the reader and sends her into a panic attack and Dean helps her?

It felt a little too obvious to go with a gunshot here. I’m also imagining this set in early seasons both for aesthetic and for Bobby’s house. Hopefully it’s something like what you were hoping for!

Title: Three, Two, One

Pairing: Dean Winchester x Reader (can be read as platonic or romantic)

Word Count: 1069

Summary: Dean grounds the reader after a panic attack brought on by a loud noise. 

Warnings: oblique description of panic attack, description of loud noise

           The way he was right in front of you at virtually the same second the car backfired almost made it worse at first, to be honest, filling your field of vision as he’d flown out of the front seat of the car where it sat in Bobby’s salvage yard.

           “Shit, I’m so sorry, I thought I’d fixed it—here, sit down,” he said, guiding you over to a folding chair on the edge of the garage. You let him ease you to the metal, feeling the heat and pounding starting to build in your head already. Dean crouched in front of you. “Water? Let me get you some water.”

           He was back in a flash with a plastic bottle, sweating so much in the humidity that the paper label on it hung loose and ugly. You took it from him with a shaky hand once he’d cracked the cap off, and took a quick sip more to feel the coldness in your mouth than out of any real thirst. Dean reached out to pat your thigh and pulled back at the last second like he’d been burned, remembering that sometimes touching you made it worse. “Can I—um?”

           You nodded, grateful for his asking and worried if you spoke you wouldn’t be able to hold back the tears. His palm over your knee was just this side of too hot, beach sand baked in the summer sun, and you tried hard to bring yourself back to reality, focus on that point of heat seeping through your jeans.

           “1 to 10?” he asked, gentle but firm as he fell into his script.

           “7,” you answered honestly.

           Dean nodded, just once, almost to himself, flicker of a quirk at one side of his mouth gone so fast you might’ve missed it. If you weren’t clawing to keep yourself above water you might’ve been able to appreciate his pride in heading off the worst of it by his rapid action.

           “I’m right here, you can close your eyes. Not going anywhere,” he continued in that poundcake voice; soft, sturdy, and sweet. Through trial and error you’d found that skipping to the three—three things you could hear—of a 5-4-3-2-1 grounding strategy was better for you; less risk of a surprise touch to add to the panic at its worst and increased contrast from whatever loud noise that had triggered it slowing the reins of your mind faster, letting you grab ahold and take control again. If you closed your eyes you could focus even harder on those small sounds, but so often it was impossible to beat back the anxiety enough to let you do it—this was one of the things Dean had been working on with you, ability to give the burden of watching out to him when you were buried in the tunneling foxhole of your mind. You tried your best to take a deep breath and let your eyelids slide shut.

           Three things you could hear.

           “Deep Purple.” Either the battery on the car was still good or he had that old boombox somewhere in the garage.

           “Underrated as always. That’s good; another?” he encouraged.

           “Windchime on the back porch.” Just a light twinkling; just barely below breeze to make the weather perfect.

           “Damn, you can hear that? I need to stop cranking the stereo so loud. Just one more.” Even knowing he was intentionally putting in the casual commentary, it helped to latch onto the light, easy conversation.

           “Cicadas.”

           “Annoying as hell, right? Okay, now two.”

           Two things you could smell.

           “Motor oil, you.”

           You could hear the smile in his voice even with your eyes closed. “And what do I smell like?”

           “Sweat, Old Spice, Coors Light.” And that little underlying note you could never place; the closest you’d ever gotten being a kind of sweet leather—leaving a cupcake in a hot car, maybe—but you were already at five things, technically. Feeling a touch of the panic start to lift, you were able to give him a weak facsimile of your normal cheeky smile, keeping your eyes closed as he chuckled gently.

           “Yeah, you love it,” he teased. “One?”

           One thing you could taste.

           “I don’t know, chapstick, maybe?”

           “I’ll call an audible and say you can swap for something you can feel,” he offered when you couldn’t think of anything.

           “Your hand on my knee.”

           He waited a beat for you to try to regulate your breathing before saying anything else. “1 to 10?”

           “3.” You opened your eyes to see him where you knew he’d still be, unmoved from his crouch on the weedy gravel in front of you. He still looked a touch concerned but primarily his face was open and hopeful as he searched your expression for more clues on how you were doing. “I’m good, sorry,” you sighed on the tail end of another deep breath, relishing the relative loosening of your lungs from a few minutes before.

           A smirk spread across Dean’s face, whites of his teeth impossible contrast to the light tan he’d gotten in the last couple weeks and spray of new sun-dyed freckles across his face, especially with the smudges of grease he had from working all day. “Nothing to be sorry about, kid. Should’ve double checked before I had you come check it out, that’s on me.” There was a shade of guilt there, and you wrapped your fingers around his hand where it stayed on your knee, giving him a little squeeze.

           Clearly that wasn’t enough to assuage Dean’s guilt, but what ever was? He held your gaze for a second before easing up to standing, grabbing a wrench out of his back pocket and tossing it in the general direction of a toolbox before wiping his hands sloppily on the back pockets of his jeans and rubbing the close-cut hair at the back of his neck. “Can I make you a sandwich? I’m starved.”

           It was another apology and fighting Dean about it wouldn’t help; the sandwich a continuation of the rapid response to your panic attack in that it was a manifestation of the best way Dean knew how to show affection/gratitude/apology, that wrap-you-in-a-blanket, take-you-under-my-wing care always so much easier for him than putting into words what he meant.

           You let him have it. “Yeah, a sandwich sounds good.”

           The way he smiled in response as he held out a hand to pull you up and sling an arm around your shoulders would’ve been enough to make you eat 20 sandwiches.

           One thing you could taste.

Ladybug is struggling and drowning from the stress that being a guardian offers and as a result hers and Chat’s relationship is strained, but don’t worry, it gets better! Mutual Pining on all sides, I wrote this in 2 months as a coping mechanism, whoopeee)

Laser Pointers (I was inspired by how trigger happy Adrien got in the New York special when it comes to catching Marinette.)

in the dead of night, your eyes so green (mutual pining Ladynoir, aged up, they go on a date as civilians but with their masks still on, very very very long one shot, about 12.6k words and I wrote it in like three days hahaha what was I thinking)

Heroes of Olympus for the fandom ask?

Blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most): Percy Jackson because I'm a basic, basic bitch. If we're picking characters who made their debut in Heroes of Olympus. . .Hazel Levesque, the magical light of my life.

Scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): It's Nico. I don't know what it is, but he's always A Child to me. A child that I love traumatizing, yes, but still.

Scrimblo Bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave): Octavian, only instead of "underappreciated by fandom", make it "underappreciated by author."

Glup Shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week): Hylla Ramírez-Arellano is the goddamn main character of her life and I'm dying on this hill, she is amazing and I have a whole life story for her that could fill a novel.

Poor Little Meow Meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): Drew Tanaka, my beloved <3*

Horse Plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): Annabeth. There is absolutely no character I find more entertaining to psychologically torture than Annabeth Chase; she's so fun when you take all of her trauma, yank it out of every little repression thought box, and then make it Worse

Eeby Deeby (character I would send to superhell): I think it would be good for Jason. In the "I'm the author and I want to traumatize him for character growth" sense.
