Bela Lugosi with Conrad Veidt in The Head of Janus 1920
In german: Der Janus-Kopf) is a silent horror film directed by F. W. Murnau. The film was an unauthorized adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but the source was not acknowledged in some German media due to changes in character names.

"Die Tragödie von Ronald, dem Burger-Clown" (1925) dir. Fritz Lang
I got bored and decided that it would be funny if there was a German Expressionist film about Ronald McDonald.

my Top Ten By Year Zine: 1930 is now on sale! i am not expecting any traction here but i figured what the hell! i have spent the last many months working on this 20-page zine dedicated to a year from one of film history's most fascinating micro-eras (Sound Gets Situated). having ten films to write about is both a jumping off-point and culmination but it's about so much more than that. it's about traversing through a year in film to the best of my ability, picking up memories and observations along the way. this zine features original collage work on every page, an essay, memories across over 50 films from 1930, and writing on 10 films of my choosing (people on sunday, city girl, king of jazz, madam satan, "dance of the hands", the big house, au bonheur des dames, ladies of leisure, laughter, and liliom). this is a labor of love for anyone who loves or appreciates film.

Sunday morning on the couch with pot of tea and a silent film. Life is sweet . . . Good morning y’all 😁
"In 16th century Prague, Rabbi Loew (Albert Steinruck) interprets an alignment of stars as a sign that disaster is about to befall the city's Jews. The following day, Emperor Luhois (Otto Gebühr) bans Loew's people from Prague, prompting the rabbi to build a statue, known as the Golem (Paul Wegener), that he hopes to animate as a savior. Brought to life by an evil spirit, Astaroth, the creature is, at first, gentle and compassionate. That, however, quickly changes as the creature goes insane."
