The Fall of Jericho and the 7 Trumpets of Revelation
written by Will Schumacher
The fall of the walls of Jericho and the 7 days of trumpets looks to be a logical type of the 7 trumpets of Revelation. The story is found in Joshua 6.
Israel is told to circle Jericho 7 days. The people are to be quiet and the 7 priests with 7 trumpets are to blow their trumpets as they circle the city once each day for the first 6 days. On the 7th day they circle it seven times and the priests blow their trumpets while the people remain quiet until “they hear the long blast of the rams horn and the sound of the trumpet” then they should shout “with a great shout” and then the walls will come down:
Joshua 6:5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.
The priests are to lead the ark of God, which is the presence of God and a type of Christ:
Joshua 6:4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
When you put this all together you see the similarities of the 7 trumpets of Revelation.
The Spirit-filled Church is sounding the trumpets spreading the Gospel and telling people to repent. They are like the priests with the trumpets leading the ark. They are forerunning the second coming of Christ when there is a salvation (Rahab the harlot) and a judgement on the world which Jericho is a type of.
The rest of the people are quiet until they hear the final blast of the ram’s horn which is Strong’s H3104 which also means “jubilee”, which is the day of atonement. They then shout with a great shout.
After the 7th trumpet sounds we have “great voices in heaven” much like the great shout of Jericho:
Revelation 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
The end of the 7th trumpet and the beginning of the 7 bowls of wrath are the same time period and both make references to the Day of Atonement. The Day of Atonement is the only day of the year the high priest could go into the Holy of Holies and you could see the ark. No man could enter the Holy of Holies except the high priest once a year.
Revelation 11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
Revelation 15:5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:
Revelation 15:8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.
This is from Leviticus and similar to Isaiah 63...
Leviticus 16:2 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.
Isaiah 63:3-4 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. 4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
Jericho’s walls fall down at the 7th trumpet. In Revelation the judgement is on Babylon. God prophesied the walls of Babylon falling down In Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 51:44 And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.
The walls of Jericho falling in the New Testament has a verse gematria of 6119:
Hebrews 11:30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
This is verse 239 of Hebrews. Peleg dies at 239. I have many posts about him and this number. Jewish history is that Peleg dies at 239 when the Tower of Babel falls which is a type of the fall of Babylon in Revelation.
Notice the other New Testament verse with the exact gematria of 6119 matching the walls of Jericho falling. This is the expected place of the final war when Christ returns and defeats “world Babylon”. This event would be likened to the utter destruction of Jericho and its people after the walls fell down:
Revelation 16:16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
This is the 6th bowl of wrath. Recall Jeremiah 51:44 when God says the wall of Babylon will fall. He also says “I will bring forth out of their mouth which he has swallowed up”. Notice that to bring them to Armegeddon for this battle there were “3 unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of dragon, beast, and false prophet.”
Revelation 16:12-14 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
Notice verse 6119 is about the same concept...
Joshua 11:11 And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire:
There is one Old Testament verse with a gematria of 6119 also:
Dan 3:29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
This is a perfect match also.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are put in a fiery furnace in Babylon. This is like the tribulation we are promised in this world babylon. (In America it has been hard to see, maybe it comes, but there is great tribulation for many in other countries,) Jesus, one like the Son of God, was walking in the fire with them. They were saved, taken out of the fire and not a single hair of their head was hurt:
Daniel 3:25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
Daniel 3:27 And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
Jesus says that in the tribulation we are in, not a single hair of our head will be hurt.
Luke 21:18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego didn’t have their coats changed. The saints coming out of the Great Tribulation we are in have their robes/coats white. They weren’t changed by the world. The coats represent the righteousness we have in Christ:
Revelation 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
The Old Testament verse stating the walls of Jericho fell has a gematria of 7891.
Joshua 6:20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
Strong’s H7891= ”sing”
It is used for the first time in the song of Moses.
Exodus 15:1 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
The plagues on Egypt and the drowning of the Egyptians is like the bowls of wrath on end times Babylon and its wall falling.
This song of Moses is then sung in Revelation at the end of the 7th trumpet and beginning of the 7 bowls of wrath exactly when Jericho as a type of end times Babylon fell.
Revelation 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
