#HUAN WOULD BE PROUD OF ME
Text
On Finrod’s battle with Sauron
There’s an interpretation of this scene that the battle of songs showed Finrod’s pride and hubris, and that he lost because of it, but that doesn’t make sense to me.
For one thing, Finrod only fought Sauron to protect Beren and their companions. It’s not like he sought out a duel with him or had a misplaced belief that he would win, the way Sauron sought out a duel with Huan. I’m sure Finrod didn’t think he would win. He sang a song of resisting.
If anything, Finrod’s decision to go on the quest with Beren shows his humility, because he doesn’t see himself as more important than the Edain, and he considers keeping his word to Barahir to be more important than his own safety.
Finrod’s loss to Sauron doesn’t reflect his pride; it reflects the fact that Sauron is a Maia and is far more powerful. And I think there’s something else going on.
He chanted a song of wizardry, Of piercing, opening, of treachery, Revealing, uncovering, betraying. Then sudden Felagund there swaying, Sang in answer a song of staying, Resisting, battling against power, Of secrets kept, strength like a tower, And trust unbroken, freedom, escape; Of changing and of shifting shape, Of snares eluded, broken traps, The prison opening, the chain that snaps. Backwards and forwards swayed their song. Reeling and foundering, as ever more strong The chanting swelled, Felagund fought, And all the magic and might he brought Of Elvenesse into his words. Softly in the gloom they heard the birds Singing afar in Nargothrond, The sighing of the Sea beyond, Beyond the western world, on sand, On sand of pearls in Elvenland. Then the gloom gathered; darkness growing In Valinor, the red blood flowing Beside the Sea, where the Noldor slew The Foamriders, and stealing drew Their white ships with their white sails From lamplit havens. The wind wails, The wolf howls. The ravens flee. The ice mutters in the mouths of the Sea. The captives sad in Angband mourn. Thunder rumbles, the fires burn— And Finrod fell before the throne.
It’s worth pausing for a moment just to say that I think this is one of Tolkien’s most beautiful and powerful poems. The imagery is amazing. It gives me chills every time. I love how you can hear what he’s describing, like the birds softly singing, and the repetition of ‘the sighing of the sea beyond, beyond the western world, on sand, on sand of pearls in Elvenland…’ And then the way he uses color—the red blood, the white ships—just makes it even more intense. The alliteration! The rhyming! The increasingly short sentences, and the crescendo of the last line! It’s literally INCREDIBLE.
I think it’s worth analyzing the imagery of the Kinslaying and why it seemingly allows Sauron to win—it appears that Finrod draws on the ‘magic and might’ of Nargothrond and Valinor, and then Sauron turns it on him by singing about Alqualondë—but my impression from this is not that Finrod is too proud.
Sauron was never able to learn their identities (‘secrets kept’), none of the companions betrayed each other (‘trust unbroken’), Finrod broke his chains (‘the chain that snaps’), the fortress is destroyed (‘the prison opening’), and Beren is rescued by Lúthien (‘freedom, escape’).
What if it was Finrod’s song of power that later allowed him to break his chains and save Beren from the wolf? What if Finrod actually shaped reality with his song of power?
Yes, Sauron defeated him, that was almost inevitable. But Finrod’s song still achieved something, even after it was over. I think Finrod knew he couldn’t win. I think winning wasn’t his objective. Protecting Beren was.

@tolkienfamilyweek Day 2: Siblings
You know what gets me about Celegorm and Curufin specifically? They are quite possibly two of the least redeemable characters in the Legendarium (saying a lot) and are equally fucked up but in fundamentally different ways. Curufin believing in his father absolutely even after everything and still being convinced in his righteousness and resenting others for standing in the way of what the sees them as morally entitled to whereas Celegorm just doesn’t think in terms of right or wrong anymore, he’s not trying to be ‘good’ he has a goal and he’ll take any path available to achieve it.
Purely selfish in both cases but Curufin has a god complex (or more like he puts Feanor on a pedestal and agrees with his god complex) and hates the Valar with a vitriol and has successfully bent himself over backwards to consider all his actions entirely justified. Whereas Celegorm genuinely doesn’t bother justifying himself at this point and has the ‘well we’re all doomed anyway so who the fuck cares anymore?’ attitude to future actions. He doesn’t hate the Valar for the same reasons some of the others do, he doesn’t distrust them or believe they’re evil, he feels his people were abandoned and resents it because he knows he was in the wrong but Morgoth is very clearly worse and haven’t they suffered enough yet?
Very different and terrible kinds of evil, but equally evil. Do they really understand each other’s moral compass (or lack of it)? Probably not, but they accept it anyway. They know that nothing they do will ever disgust or horrify the other because they’re both as bad as each other and there’s something freeing (if decidedly unhealthy) about that lack of judgement.
I am so obsessed with the dynamic of two mass murderers with no morals whatsoever never once contemplating stabbing each other in the back because they love each other just as much as any of the heroes love their family. Think about it, Curufin has his father’s name, his face, his skill set, and we know these are the things that Curufin would consider of utmost importance. There’s no way Curufin doesn’t think he should be on a throne, he was most probably out for Fingolfin’s and canonically out for Finrod’s. But he wasn’t out for Finrod’s throne to take himself, he wanted to place Celegorm on it.
He thinks insanely high of himself and thinks he’s worthy to be a king but he clearly believes Celegorm just as worthy and has trust that his brother would value his input and treat him as an equal, which doesn’t seem that far fetched because, even with all the clashes you’d think would come between two strong personalities like them, they ruled Himlad jointly for years with no power struggles. What’s more it seems like this was by choice, that instead of ruling their own realms, which you’d imagine proud people like them would want to do, they preferred to share Himlad in an equal partnership.
Curufin is so terrible even his own son, and presumably wife, can’t bear to be around him anymore but Celegorm? He’s never going to leave him, never, they are always going to back each other up and everyone else will suffer for it.
One of my favourite moments with them is when everything goes to hell, they’ve been banished, Finrod’s dead, Luthien escaped and then, to top it all of, they try to get revenge on one maiden and a mortal and not only get utterly trashed but Celegorm’s dog who he’s had since childhood and kept as a companion through everything up until this point finally changes sides with no warning whatsoever and chooses Luthien over him (on another note, what the hell Huan? You seriously haven’t had moral qualms before now? Even if this was the last straw for you could you not have picked a better moment than when Celegorm looked like the only person who was going to stop his brother being throttled to death?)
So Curufin’s almost died and Celegorm, after they got absolutely humiliated and have lost everything due mostly to the two people in front of him and he’s not known for his ability to control his anger, is ready to leave. After Curufin is released Celegorm takes him unto his horse and starts to ride off with him before Curufin initiates again and fires after them. Celegorm is the hunter among them, presumably he’s far better with his own bow and he definitely wants revenge, but he doesn’t shoot after them. He’s willing to give up his revenge for his brothers safety and that’s more of a show of love for them than anything else could be.
All I’m saying is that if they didn’t get to die in each other’s arms and be together at the end they’d been rushing to side by side their whole story….

Ships you like and dislike for a few characters and why ? I’m interested in your thoughts and analysis. Don’t have to answer all of them I would just love to see some. Tysm and have a good day 💗🤍.
Bolin ( obvi)
Wei
Suyin
Lin
Asami
If you don’t ship Bopal who do you ship Opal with ?
Bumi II
Huan
So for Bolin, I don't have many ships I like for him other than weilin? I think a lot of his canon ships share the theme of either enabling his infantilisation or patronising him. Bolin needs a partner that would support amd challenege him into maturing, but the writers won't give that to us because writing character development is hard.
At least with weilin I can work with my own ideas?
Mind you it's not that I can't get behind other ships, in the right setting,I'm just very picky about how Bo is characterised.
As for Wei, he doesn't have a lot of interactions with any characters outside of Bolin, so I really don't have a lot of ships with him.
One thing I'm sick of seeing is Beifong family incest? If my daily scouring of the web for weilin crumbs is interrupted by a threesome between Wei, Wing and THEIR FATHER, I will blow this solar system into smithereens.
I'm pretty vanilla when it comes to Suyin ships. I adore Sutar they're adorable and I wish we could've seen them when they were younger. I adore the idea of Suyin finding someone to build a life with, I adore the theme of carving out and building a place to call home together, I adore how they're the poster children for malewife/girlboss.
Though one of my crackships is Suyin x any member of the Red Lotus. This would probably place itself somewhere in my Red Lotus! Beifongs AU.
I'm not too fond of Suvira? Like I absolutely get the appeal, in theory. And while Kuvira doesn't consider the Beifongs family, she has been under Suyin's care since she was 8. Most mentor/protégé ships aren't my cup of tea. There are very specific exceptions, but as a rule of thumb, I shy away from this theme.
For Lin, I'm very partial to Linzolt, thanks to my wife. Very interesting dynamic. I also like shipping Lin with women of course; Kyalin, Linsuko, Lin x Buttercup Raiko - all bangers. I like Linzin for what it could've been. I also think Lin x Pema is a fun crackship. Maybe they saw Korrasami and were like: 'hey why not?'. I do however like Lin with Tenzin and Pema together? They'd be a cute throuple. I have a tendency to enjoy shipping Lin with married couples because I tend to ship Lin with San and Naoki as well (Mako and Bolin's parents)
Asami. Like most of the fandom, I adore korrasami. Though I'll be honest when I say... masami was kinda cute? Honestly, any ship where Asami is happy gets a thumbs up from me.
That being said I'm always in the market for some toxic yuri, so Asami x Kuvira or Asami x Jargala are both very intriguing to me.
Another one of my favourite guilty pleasure ships I'm much too invested in is Opal x Asami.
Think about it. They're both rich girls who were isolated from the world. Imagine them sharing stories of the wide world. Imagine Asami upgrading Opal's wingsuit and Opal bringing Asami trinkets from all the places her Air Nomad journeys take her. Imagine Asami getting a real family as the Beifongs adopt her. Her getting a father that would never betray her in Baatar Sr.
Idk I think they'd be good for each other. I think I need to make a longer post on Asami x Opal.
Opal is my favourite female tlok character (Bolin being my fave male character) and tbh I hate her being demoted to a love interest.
That doesn't mean I don't ship her with anyone.
Sapphic Opal has my heart and soul. I ship her with most female characters of the show. Korpal? Exquisite, did you see the synchronised airbending scene? Opalvira? Love their divorced vibe in rote! Opal x Asami? Unsung favourite! Opal x Eska? Opal x Ginger? Yesyesyes!
My one straight ship for Opal is Mako x Opal because I think they'd be good for one another.
Bumi II x Suyin Beifong's chef is my horrible creation. I think this post I made months ago explains it perfectly:
I don't have any particular ships for Huan. I'm quite open to most ships with him, since in my personal opinion he's the most romantic of the Beifong siblings. I can see him with Desna or Eska, Tahno or Ryu the airbender. Mako x Huan is also sweet when you think of it. I think if them both as such big brothers.
I'm not very into Huan x Ikki. Like, I do get why people like it. And I'm not that against age gap relationships. One of the healthiest relationships i know irl has a huge age gap. I just see Ikki and Huan as having such a big brother/little sister relationship it's very hard for me to swap to seeing them as anything romantic. Perhaps as a onesided puppy crush on Ikki's side but anything more is a big big no no
Thanks for the ask, anon, I had fun answering this one! And if you want me to elaborate on any of the mentioned ships, I'll be happy to ramble!

Welp, @nailsinmywall and @skyeventide were chatting on twitter and woobiefied!Celegorm came up. And I’ve realized that I have two semi-elaborate Celegorm headcanon/interpretations spawned from attempts to make Celegorm less fucking tedious to me. I don’t think they quite make the cut for woobiefication, but they ARE marching in that direction. I think this at least qualified for meow-meowification.
Like all good headcanons, one revolves around Orome and one around Aredhel LOL. Honestly it’s all about motivation. Because bitches love to coddle a blorbo who does shitty things for “good” reasons.
Hokay, so. Celegorm and Orome. I realize that this is an unpopular opinion, but Celegorm/Orome is Not For Me, and I prefer to skew the relationship to focus on what Orome’s job represents to Celegorm, rather than a romantic relationship.
Because Orome’s role isn’t just hunting for funsies. His calling is to guard. “He is a hunter of monsters and fell beasts[.]” It’s not the same thing as hunting for food or trophies. It’s about being a first line of defense. It’s a very sincere and solemn duty, and one that would have been obviously important to someone who a) spent stretches of time in the more dangerous parts of Araman and b) intended to leave the safety of Aman with the rest of his family, like Celegorm. Depending on when you think Feanor started talking about leaving Aman, it’s very reasonable for Celegorm to pursue an apprenticeship etc in Orome’s hunt specifically to support the end goal of leaving Aman.
So Celegorm has accepted this intense, important duty and obligation to Orome and the community at large, in a time and place where there is relatively little need for it. And then suddenly, Morgoth tips his hand and reveals himself to be unreformed! There is more need for Orome than ever!!! And Orome…
Stays home.
Celegorm arrives in Beleriand and fights orcs and wolves and ect etc and sees that Orome’s dedication to everything he taught Celegorm is conditional. Celegorm is in Beleriand, doing the work, whether for selfish or altruistic reasons, and Orome just… isn’t.
Now, there are different ways to interpret the emotional fallout here. But I’m included to say that Celegorm was… if no longer devoted to Orome once the family withdraws to Formenos, then at least still sympathetic and drawn to Orome’s ethos. If nothing else, Huan’s ongoing presence suggests that Celegorm still shares Orome’s calling, even if he’s no longer a member of Orome’s cult.
But I think once he arrived in Beleriand and seen the effects of Orome’s abandonment… he becomes increasingly bitter about his former god. Bitter in a way that I think is unique among the Feanorians, because Orome specifically has abandoned his professed calling in favor of obedience to Manwe. It’s not just the Exiles who have been abandoned, it’s everyone East of the Sea! It doesn’t matter if they aren’t Doomed and never thought of kinslaying, because they have been summarily judged and punished for actions they’re literally separated from by multiple generations and thousands of years. Celegorm has made this protective/defensive role his life’s calling, under Orome’s tutelage, and Orome has made it clear through his actions that the work he made central to Celegorm’s life was something Orome could just walk away from.
But throughout this all Celegorm is still doing the work. Orome walked away, but Celegorm didn’t, and I can’t imagine he’d be anything but bitterly proud about that. I don’t think it took long for him to be doing the work in spite of Orome, rather than in Orome’s honor or even far-distant partnership.
It's a bitter disillusionment and stripping of faith that I tend to think of as a hallmark of the religious lives of the Exiles. But Celegorm’s explicit textual relationship with Orome, and Huan, and (presumed) defensive work in Himlad makes it a good case study. The Valar’s collective failure to live up to their own PR would have made the Eastern forces at least feel justified in their actions.
 So now I have hopefully established that Celegorm’s (bloody, dangerous, violent) work on the front lines of Eastern Beleriand is part of the borderline religious cultural role that Celegorm has chosen for himself. He is perhaps glad to be applying his chosen craft, but scornful that he’s doing it with no greater help from Orome than Huan. He is very probably angry that Thingol doesn’t give two shits about these defensive obligations. Hypocritical, since Celegorm’s mostly there because of the Oath, but it’s mostly a constant low-grate irritation. Nothing too serious.
And then everything falls out with Aredhel!
Because the thing is: years before Celegorm ever laid eyes on Luthien, one of Elu Thingol’s kinsmen seduced and eloped with the daughter of the high king of the Noldor, AT BEST. The most charitable version of that relationship is an illicit seduction, an elopement without so much as notifying Aredhel’s father, and then pursuing her like an animal when she decided she was done with the relationship. And even if that’s the reality and not just the most charitable explanation, I cannot buy that Celegorm felt remotely charitable about the situation.
So from Celegorm’s perspective, what happened is that one of the people he was pouring blood, sweat, and tears into defending had abducted, seduced, definitely abused, and very possibly sexually assaulted one of his favorite cousins. And then they both disappeared into the ether with no justice done that Celegorm would have heard of, and certainly no apology from Eol, let alone Thingol.
Who wouldn’t be in a blind rage at Doriath, in his shoes?
And then the Silmaril quest is Thingol very literally adding insult to injury. The silmaril quest is a very neat and tidy insult to both Beren (who Thingol obviously wants dead) and the Feanorian East. After all, the Feanorian East was just recently devastated in the Bragollach, and Himlad not the least. The silmaril quest is Thingol’s way of saying “You’re not a player on the field anymore. I’m top dog again, and I’ll treat you however I want.” Which is, even with the kinslaying, a pretty shitty move! And it’s one that, quite frankly, the Feanorians have to answer in some way, or they’re basically acknowledging that Thingol is correct. Letting it pass wouldn’t just make it more difficult for them to claim one silmaril, it would make it harder to get people to help them deal with Morgoth and the last two silmarils! It’s kinda dumb, but that’s politics bay-bee.
So when Luthien wanders on by… Hey! A hostage! Luthien offers a great opportunity to pay Thingol back tit-for-tat for both Eol’s treatment of Aredhel and Thingol’s deliberate insult to his former allies. His attraction to her is just gravy.
Essentially, I’ve decided to interpret Celegorm as someone who chose to devote himself, body, heart, and soul, to a god/personal calling to defend his family/community/species, and then had to find a way forward in life when the very same god abandoned that calling, and then some of the people he was defending stabbed his family in the back. Like, damn. I don’t think I would react any better. If I had spent centuries of my life dedicated to the bloody, violent defense of a frontier (a defense that had been abandoned by the powers-that-be that I had been raised to expect to help), only to find out that someone from another cultural group that I was defending had trapped one of my best friends in an abusive relationship? And then like, a century later the leader of the same political group (who never apologized for what happened to my BFF!) very explicitly made a major political challenge to me and my family? And then I get the chance to reprise the crime that he never apologized for on his daughter? I would be fucking tempted. And the threat alone, without intent to follow through, would be enough to pry apologies out of Thingol and stabilize the Feanorian power base.

Like a Cicada to its Shell
seiga and her life pre-hermit.
link on ao3
posted under the cut if you wish to read here instead!
There’s someone in my bed.
It was quiet, yet the soft, lofty sounds of someone else’s sleeping breaths felt like they echoed through my skull. Furthermore, there was a light in the room, almost as if a torch had been lit, from a smooth, finely cut hole in the wall, pouring in moonlight.
I lifted my bed’s covers.
It was that scholar boy, Huo Huan, the one whose family asked for my hand in marriage, the one who had no life skills.
I remembered earlier as I undressed for bed, when I felt suddenly paranoid, as if being watched.
A sickening feeling blossomed within me and I ran out of bed to alert one of my family’s servants.
He was shaken awake, and revealed his thief’s tool.
It was vile, despicable, and most importantly, it was from a Taoist.
An immortal hermit, even.
My mind was full of thoughts of He Xiangu, my father Wu, and my various books of study. The conversation happening regarding Huan and his escapades escaped my mind, listless, and I made no effort to speak or show reaction.
As he made his way to exit, both of our minds were focused on that chisel, from the way he made sure to get it back.
A servant informed me that he had taken my fenghuang hairpin as well.
Violated.
“This robber’s tool… get rid of it,” I said.
“But it was our matchmaker!” he said with a chuckle, and wore it around his waist like a belt, already looking proud of his treasure.
I snatched it from his side, shoving it into a fold of fabric in my clothes. “No.”
“No?”
I scowled. “You stole something from me. And now, I unto you.” I made a move as if to break it.
I never did.
I was to be married to him.
I had no feelings for him other than disgust.
After the fiasco with our mothers, how else could I even begin to feel except for the start of something awful? Already, the embarrassment made me want to rot away into mush for the bugs to eat at the thought of what had been said. She made me feel violated. Yet, I paid my respects to her. Most of my time was spent alone and lost in thought.
I kept thinking about the chisel.
I kept thinking about the hermit it was received from.
I keep thinking…
I needed to get out of here.
When he was born, I felt nothing.
When he cried, I felt nothing.
When he suckled at my breast, cooing, entirely dependent on me, I felt nothing.
I entrusted my son to a nurse.
I couldn’t bear to look at him.
A mother was supposed to feel warmth and love for their child.
I felt a hollow space chiseled out of my heart.
I would carve out a hole in the room I was shut in to look at the moonlight sometimes. To feel the night’s air on my skin. To see the reflected light shining upon leaves and water.
The bamboo looked beautiful.
I was given freedom, but the family’s definition of freedom meant nothing to me.
If it was truly freedom, I would be long gone, blood full of metal, mind free of any inhibitions that kept me chained to the earth. Flying into a new world, a world where I could do whatever I wanted and go wherever I wanted to go, to be living for myself and no one else.
I did not want to stay.
I did not want to be on this earth, if it meant being stuck here.
I read my books on taoist immortals until the words blended together and my brain felt numb.
As my body’s strength waned and my hunger, once roaring and violent, became quelled and meek, I felt closer to He Xiang than ever before.
Huo Huang checked up on me many times.
He was loving towards me, as much as I hated it.
It didn’t matter. I felt little towards him other than feeling violated. What word could describe a boy who fell in love at first sight with one he had never met other than “foolish?”
It was always an idealized version of myself in his mind.
I knew what I needed to do, and how to do it.
The thought of being dead never made me feel more alive.
“We’ve been fortunate and loving in our relationship for eight years up to this point,” I rehearsed.
“Now it seems that we will be parting for a long time, with only a short while left together, but there’s nothing to be done about it!”
The words felt vile on the tongue, fake and insincere, but I felt giddy.
The chisel was mine.
I tied my hair into loops, using the chisel as a makeshift hairpin.
Not unlike what he had stolen from me.
Was it an immortal’s path to abandon their family?
Leaving behind a lover and a child, was I not unlike my father?
It didn’t matter.
I was getting what I wanted.
And I understood.

It’s gonna be okay because “Then Celegorm no more would stay, and Curufin smiled and turned away.”
And also: “In Tauron's friths and pastures green had Huan once a young whelp been.
He grew the ·swiftest of the swift,
and Oromë gave him as a gift
to Celegorm, who loved to follow
the Vala's horn o'er hill and hollow.”
And:
“Curufin spake: 'Good brother mine,
I like it not. What dark design
doth this portend? These evil things,
we swift must end their wanderings!
And more, 'twould please my heart full well to hunt a while and wolves to fell.'
And then he leaned and whispered low that Orodreth was a dullard slow;
long time it was since the king had gone, and rumor or tidings came there none.
'At least thy profit it would be
to know whether dead he is or free;
to gather thy men and thy array.
"I go to hunt" then thou wilt say,
and men will think that Narog's good ever thou heedest. But in the wood things may be learned; and if by grace, by some blind fortune he retrace
his footsteps mad, and if he bear
a Silmaril—I need declare
no more in words; but one by right
is thine (and ours), the jewel of light; another may be won—a throne.
The eldest blood our house doth own.'”
And:
“In scorn stood Celegorm, unbowed, with glance of fire in anger proud
and menacing; but at his side
smiling and silent, wary-eyed,
was Curufin, with hand on haft
of his long knife. And then he laughed, and 'Well?' said he. 'Why didst thou call for us, Sir Steward? In thy hall
we are not wont to stand. Come, speak, if aught of us thou hast to seek!'”
Thank you so much 😭😭😭 these two nasty Elves always cheer me up, you know that well. Huan as a young puppy is too cute to imagine!

SVSSS AU
I have read AUs where Shen Yuan is a separate character from SQQ, Shen jiu. And I’ve read ones where Shen Jiu and Shen yuan are related or exist in the same AU.
What I want, if any kind soul would write this for me, is a AU where Shen Yuan and Shen jiu are the same person. Shen Yuan is like SQH and reborn into Proud immortal Demon Way as an infant without his memories. He lives as Shen jiu until the moment he first kills someone (Qiu estate probably. I imagine him getting his memories back as he torches the place). All the memories as his life as Shen Yuan comes back to him and the system activates. It lets him know that he is the scum villain twenty years before canon events start.
Jaded, savage and a untrusting Shen yuan (maybe he chose to revert back to Yuan in hopes that he will get the small amount of warmth he’d had in his previous life) is forced by the system to continue down the path of becoming a sect leader. He meets disciple Qinghua along the way and they both band together as transmigrators to continue the story line. (Maybe they change a few minor plot points along the way. Gathering evidence on the Huan huan palace to give to Tianlang-Jun, once SQH had spilled about his drafts of course). SQQ uses both memories from his two lives to grow and change. He still has trauma and rage from his early years as Shen Jiu, but after a lot of talking with YQY over the years he forgives him. He also grows close with SQH and they become proper friends. (Maybe he later assists him with hiding the wounded Mobei-Jun?) of course he still has trauma and misdirected hatred on those with power who abuse the weak. He snaps when vulnerable and his communication is still terrible but he is not as naïve as he was as Shen yuan. The childhood of abuse as Shen jiu made him sharp and more selfish. But he is healing.
By the time Binghe joins the sect, SQQ has a reputation. He is still sharp tongued and insulting of those who he considers a threat or beneath him. But he is not a trope villain. He cares for children and would never harm them. Even the rivalry Shen jiu had with LQG in the book is dulled to mutual respect for each other’s skills but distance, neither browning closer until SQQ saves him. His relationship with YQY is tense, since SQQ recalls their childhood, but brotherly. YQY doting on him as usual and SQQ putting up with it. He still visits brothels, enjoying the time to gossip and talk with the women. (I suspect he has his sexual awakening before canon events begin).
He never treats Binghe unkindly, treating him with the same Shen yuan care as he treats his other disciples. He shows more control over his favouritism, only helping LBH when signs of bullying were too obvious to ignore. Of course Binghe soaks up any affection like a sponge. Maybe SQQ has a nightmare about the Qiu estate and wakes up screaming. LBH, who might have been doing chores at night, hears and bursts into the room to protect his Shizun. The moment of concern over his vulnerability is what breaks the wall of SQQ’s heart and is how Binghe moves into the room next door. Cue gay crush on shizun growing in little white sheep Binghe’s heart as he begins to work out that his Shizun had maybe suffered to. He swears to look after him.
As such things happen according to canon. But SQQ doesn’t get poisoned. Instead of defending LBD against the demon, he merely pulls them both of The way just in time for LQG to swoop in. This SQQ would be more cunning and selfish than the original Shen yuan. He wouldn’t loose all rationality over LBH brewing harmed, trusting in the protagonist halo. Other than that, events would continue up to the endless abyss scene.
Instead of spouting hatred against demons to LBH, he maybe reveals that he knows about LBH Herat Ive and tells him to jump down to save both their skins. The other cultivators would kill the boy on sight if they knew he was a demon and SQQ’s reputation would be ruined. He might even be expelled from his peak for harbouring a demon. With this method of manipulation, LBH jumps down himself. When he comes back to court his Shizun with riches and prestige, SQQ pretends to be annoyed but is secretly glad that he now has someone who he can fully trust.
Less angst and more badass SQQ really. I just want scenes of SQQ who remembers Shen jiu’s life and Shen yuan’s, being able to navigate the story with the attributes of both personalities and using the skills of both life. No getting caught in plot device miscommunication over amnesia. He has healthier relationships with all the characters and is able to tell when people are hitting on him. Just more badass and socially intelligent SQQ.

Ask game time! Thanks for the tag, @filmamir!
1. Are you named after anyone?
I keep saying if I do anything noteworthy enough in my life to deserve a wikipedia page, someone has to add me to List of things named after Bernhard Riemann - Wikipedia, so... yes.
2. When was the last time you cried?
Yesterday night, and also, longer ago than I remember. Are the tears mine if the sadness isn't? It be like that sometimes.
3. Do you have kids?
No, and thank the powers that be (mostly contraception) for that!
4. What sports do you play/have played?
No real sports, unless highschool PE counts. I was a fervent and pretty skilled skier for a while but my partner is afraid of skiing and its too expensive to go on my own, so it's been years since I did it.
5. Do you use sarcasm?
Not as much as you'd think. I'm a painfully sincere person much of the time.
6. What's the first thing you notice about people?
I hate to be *that* person, but... their vibe. Fake car salesperson smiles, awkward "haha we will ignore that!" silences, confrontational high-schooler convo style... Some people just have fucky energy, idk what else to say. That said, my actual opinion of people takes a while to form -it's like a committee vote more or less.
7. What's your eye colour?
Blue-green
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings all the way. I can watch unhappy endings if the movie is aesthetic(TM) or it's more about the art or history of the film than the narrative, but if I'm immersing myself in a story-story, the person(s) the narrative makes me root for better fucking make it to a happy end.
I'm very selective about scary movies: they need to be aesthetic, and satisfying.
9. Any talents?
... not... really? I kinda struggle with linking my qualities to "talents". I don't have many (if any) things I'm just "naturally good" at; even skill sets I'm now proud of were not something I ever had a natural aptitude for, and if I developed a skill it was 99% of the time out of necessity rather than enjoyment.
I guess I have... shockingly broad bandwidth for other people's issues. Like... interpersonal exhaustion? I don't know her, man. Mostly due to a combination of voyeuristic enjoyment of knowing and understanding things about others, my sense of empathy being almost entirely generated through fine-grained psych analysis rather than instinct, and the *very* odd given that my own personality temporarily stabilizes when exposed to interpersonal input. I'm not sure that's a talent so much as a condition, though xD
10. Where were you born?
Belgium
11. What are your hobbies?
At the moment, mostly writing Tron fanfiction. I also draw (sometimes), paint and kitbash Warhammer 40k minis (been a while), do metalwork (I need a new welding helm T_T), do gothic and fetish modelling, thrift and collect things for my house, etcetera. I cycle through hobbies mostly. Writing is my most stable one -I dare say I keeps me sane.
12. Do you have any pets?
I have a cat! Her name is Meoi (Quenya for "Cat", in honour of Huan and terrible Feanorian naming traditions -retired Silmarillion fan here)
13. How tall are you?
1m70 but most people assume I'm a good bit taller because I'm broad-shouldered and always in 17cm platform stilettos.
14. Favourite subject in school?
Oof. Tough one. I've been out of school for a good long while. The person I was in high-school would have picked physics, followed closely by math. Leaving the following period in the middle (lalala), at uni *in the major I actually graduated from*, my favourites were Architectural Theory, Medieval Image Culture, and Visual Analysis.
15. Dream job?
Oof again. Opinions divided on this one.
I like to say my dream job needs to meet the following criteria:
- I am competent at the job and reasonably regularly get this confirmed by others
- Every day at work I know largely what is expected of me, and what is expected fully falls within my capacity to deliver.
- I have tangible, well-described tasks and goals and never have to "be proactive about finding more work" or "try to look more productive".
- I have good coworkers I get along with, at least professionally.
- No extraneous admin tasks or timesheet micromanagement.
- GOOD PAY
If I'm really ambitious, I would add to that:
- I'm an expert (or just really, really good) at it.
But let's be honest, actual dream jobs Riemann over here has dreamed of having or pursuing? Interior designer/stylist, professional fetish performer/pro-domme, and Enterprise IT Architect.
Yeah.
You see why I stick to bullet point lists.
Tagging... @bowiesinspace @inquisitor-gayfax @clevermird @et-novum and everyone else who feels like it!

Part 6 of Shen twins au. Parts one, two, three, four, and five.
“Loashi, I came back,” Luo Binghe says fondly. “For you.”
He holds out his hand for Shen Yuan to take.
Shen Yuan doesn’t know what’s going on, why he’s Binghe’s target. But he will willingly jump on this sword for his brother. Perhaps, since Shen Yuan treated him so well as a disciple, he won’t torture him like he would his brother.
He’ll go with Binghe if it means saving Shen Jiu.
It doesn’t occur to him that Luo Binghe doesn’t want to torture him, doesn’t want to harm him in anyway, and doesn’t feel any anger or hate towards him.
Shen Qingqiu however knows what’s going on instantly.
As Shen Yuan reaches to take Binghe’s hand, he slaps it away.
“A-Yuan get out of here!”
“No!” Shen Yuan twirls around him and to Binghe.
Binghe smirks. Even Shen Qingqiu’s brother wants to get away from him.
“Everything will be alright,” Shen Yuan says from behind Binghe. “Let me do this.”
Shen Qingqiu is furious. He looks at Binghe and points a finger.
“You may be able to charm those fools at the Huan Hua Sect, but I know your true nature!”
If it wouldn’t harm their sect by revealing they’d harbored a demon for so long, he’d do it now. But he knows there isn’t anything he can do, not without revealing the truth. Not without his brother’s cooperation. But A- Yuan is being a naive idiot at the moment.
As he watches Luo Binghe lead his didi away, with a hand at the small of his back, Shen Qingqiu quietly seethes.
He needs to get Qi-ge.
Shen Yuan is experiencing emotional whiplash.
Luo Binghe is being a perfect gentleman. Charming and suave as one would expect from a stallion protagonist.
Shen Yuan is proud of how his little student has grown.
The Huan Hua disciples fawn over him. Luo Binghe introduces him as his Shen Laoshi and the disciples all greet him with respect.
Shen Yuan is confused as to why Luo Binghe is treating someone he plans on getting revenge on with such respect. Shen Yuan’s waiting for the turn, but he’ll happily take this for now.
“This disciple missed you,” Binghe says once they’re alone.
Shen Yuan expects the turn will happen now.
“This senior is not your master, no need to refer to yourself as disciple,” he says. He waves his fan casually, trying for the aloof immortal master vibe that his brother has mastered.
“This once always saw Laoshi as his master more than Shen Qingqiu.“
Shen Yuan’s fan freezes mid motion.
“That’s rather unfilial,” Shen Yuan replies, offended on behalf of his his brother.
Then the implications set in.
Is. Is Binghe not upset with him?
“Does Laoshi know of this ones true nature?” Binghe asks.
“... Yes,” Shen Yuan replies carefully.
“Then you must also know what Shizun did to this one.”
Shen Yuan closes his eyes. There it is.
“Yes,” he says softly.
“And what does Laoshi think about it?” Binghe asks slowly.
Shen Yuan pauses, he isn’t sure what Binghe wants from him. He decides to just be honest.
“You didn’t deserve it,” he says.
Luo Binghe breaks into a smile.
“I’m glad Laoshi thinks so,” he replies brightly. “But don’t worry. Soon Shen Qingqiu won’t be able to hurt anyone else, ever again.”
All the blood drains from Shen Yuan’s face.

Transmigrated too late.
Another AU of Scumbag Villain [I probs need a cheat sheet of names of characters/locations to help me write these]
Luo Binghe sat on his throne, the Huan Hua Palace hailed as the most largest prominent sect that housed all six thousand of the Demon Lords wives.
All of them stood at attention as guards, serving Luo Binghe's food, fanning him, sitting or standing by his throne. Scouting the entire palace and dragging in the prisoner in chains and dumping him at his feet.
His elusive Shizun was finally captured.
Shizun glared the chains holding him tightly and cutting of his Qi, unable to escape. He glared at his demonic disiple in revulsion and anger. He wasn't afraid yet. "Ah Shizun, it's time to make you pay for what you've done to me all of those years ago..."
Luo Binghe stood slowly, walking down the steps. Shen Qingqiu's only wore his inner robes gone were all his jeweraly, outfits and stripped of his title as a Peak Master.
No one will save him now.
But suddenly in one blink, his Shizun was gazing at him with cold green eyes filled with resentment then the next, wide soft eyes gazing at him uncomprehending.
In that moment Lord Luo Binghe knew something had changed, but never faltered in his steps as he slowly approached.
Shen Yaun loved proud Immortal demon way, it had a strong cencept but such a shit execution when he was halfway through the story he should've stopped reading...but he was too invested. Maybe he was wrong what if it picked up? but no he should've listened to his insincts all that time and energy wasted with no payout. He was so enraged at the cheap ending that he died.
And woke up here bound in chains with Luo Binghe prowling towards him.
What was going on?
he couldn't even ask where he was and how did he get here before a box appeared before his face.
[Error- Transmigration to Shen Qingqiu loaded unsuccesfully, User please stand by for System to reload to relevant time period. Actions for current user to stand by until this issue has been fixed.]
"What-what do you mean!?" Shen Yaun cried in his head and the system cheerfully added.
[User has been transmigrated too late, execution for Shen Qingqiu in twelve minutes.]
He saw Luo Binghe approach and realised he was going to die, he was going to experience the excrutaiting death of the Scumbag Villain Shen Qingqiu and he was powerless to stop it!
[Please survive until we fix this issue, You can you up! You can do it! :D]
Why was the Systems voice so energetic! It was the systems fault! You piece of trash!
"Shizun..." A cool timbre spoke and a thumb pressed over Shen Qingqiu's cheek smothly stroking the skin under his eye. It snapped Shen Qingqiu out of his thoughts to see the protagonist looking down on him. He was dead, he was so so dead.
His body trembled as Luo Binghe's lips raised into a grin. "Time to make you pay for what you did to me all those years ago, all those beatings, abuse and pain, for each whip I'll rip out an arm, For each strike I'll rip out a leg, an eye for an eye, everything paid back tenfold."
Think-Think idiot!
Shen Qingiue smirked or maybe grimaced tilting his head to the side away from Luo Binghe's hand.
"Isn't that unfair? Sure you can take a hand and a leg, my eyes but then what are you left with? A husk of a man in a dungeon. It'll be more effort to keep me around and the punishment would end underwhelming and unfullfilling."
And what could Shen Qingqiu say? Stop I'm not your shizun don't kill me? As if the protagonist would believe that!
Shen Qingiu was still wavering, he needed time- time to plan- to escape.
"Why not make this Master really pay for his disiples abuse. Pour hot tea on me, whip me, beat me, worse than what you went through make me fight a demon with deadly poisen, make me face each challenge of the endless abyss. For each Trial you've endured I will pay tenfold."
For a moment he thought that Luo Binghe wasn't going to go through with it- either way he was screwed. Sure the human stick route would actually be pretty quick. But without any legs, theres less chance for escape. He might be a masochist for choosing the worse punishing route... but what choice did he really have?
Luo Binghe smirked, fine. He'll indulge his old Teacher and would love to see him squirm and see his chances of escape dwindling and lose the hope once his Shizun becomes a husk of a man- maybe when his Shizun loses it and starts to self harm would Luo Binghe rip of his limbs to keep him still then begin to drive him insane with his nightmares. lets see how this would play out.
"Very well. That does seem like an adequete punishment, you will pay for all of your crimes against me and against any other victims of yours." Luo Binghe accepted and Shen Qingqiu couldn't relax as the demon Lord kept talking.
"Not just this lowly disciple others as well, the Qie massacre for Peak Lord Liu death in the caves and for Ning Yinying." Luo Binghe said his first wives name with meaning and Shen Qingqiu paled in dread.
Shen Qingqiu shivered, fuck he was going to be castrated.
The next morning Shen Qingiu saw the Peaks disiple uniform on his bed. Was he supposed to wear this? Was it supposed to be mocking? System? How was Shen Qingiu supposed to act?
[System...Pending, Transmigration to right time slot at 1%] Seriously!? Why so slow? God Dammit!
As he got dressed he gazed around the room, it was made just like the shed Luo Binghe was supposed to sleep in. It was freezing and with the binding cables on his wrist Shen Qinqiu couldn't circulate qi to keep him warm. He had no bed just a mat on the floor, and the dust and dirt was making him cough with a dry throat. He might get sick before long.
The door opened with no warning as a couple of Luo Binghe's wives hurried in, he was unprepared for the slap across his face then the sudden shove at his back as he fell- all of them hit him and Shen Qingiu fell to the ground covering his head from any of the blows, his stomach kicked into, his back punched and he couldn't move, other than take it.
He could tell the wives were taking pleasure in it as the assualts got worse, one of them grabbed him by the hair then slammed him face down onto the hard floor. He felt pain blossoming on his head and his vision darkened.
What a great first start to his torment, he might be beaten stupid and won't be able to think of a way out if it goes on like this...
--
Shen Qingqiu was forced to wear Cangs disiple clothes, Shen yaun didn't care and just wore them for his punishments not knowing that Shen Qingiu would've found this degrading. Strike One. Luo Binghe took a teapot and poured the tea over Shen Qingqius face, the man grunted in pain shutting his eye as Luo Binghe almost poured over it but kept still. He didn't care that his face was burned and scarred. Strike 2. Luo Binghe whipped Shen Qingiu himself, purposfully holding himself back and going soft wanting to see what his Shizun would say as the man can go through worse pain than this. The man said nothing but only grunted in pain. Strike 3.
When Ning Yingying walked past him in the corridor on his way for more punishment, Shen Qinqiu flinched and ran away. Ning Yingying stared...was he scared of her? After she tells Luo Binghe that night both were complexed. The Story of Shizuns infatuation on his disiple was a lie only used to ruin his reputation further and have the Huan hua palace a reason to detain him. How else would Luo Binghe have cause to have interest in this prisoner other than bringing justice for his first wife? Strike 4.
He made Shen qingqiu face against Elder hammer, with his meridians blocked. Shen Qingqiu is almost equel to Luo Binghe as a teenager who had to face off against this monster.
Shen Qinqiu fighting style was drastically different from his Shizuns, his shizun was dishonourable and fought dirty, this one didn't. He waited for the right moment to strike with his flimsy sword. Elder hamer fell surprised but almost attacked Shen Qingqiu who was too tired to defend himself.
"That's enough." Luo Binghe spoke, it was obvious enough that this was an imposter.
But it was Shen Qingiu's body, why else would Yue QingYuan try so hard to save this man? Luo Binghe considered that maybe Shen Qingqiu knew he was going to die by his disicples hand and put a contingency in place. He fled his body and had a servant take his place.
No it couldn't be a servant, the man would've taken his masters punishment with no complaint he would have no self-preservation. He could also hear 'Shen Qingqiu' Cursing himself and calling himself a scumbag, maybe he ripped someones soul and swapped bodys against their will?
He had to find out, in wasting his time on this 'shizun' he was also an enahbler to waste time for the real Shen Qingqiu to escape.
Shen Qinqiu was freaking out, he had already been through most of Luo Binghe's trials although he was being beaten and whipped almost as much as the protagonist, but now it was the Endless abyss he had no idea what he was going to do to survive...
He was requested to go to Lord Luo Binghe's chambers. Shen Qingqiu was confused but had to obey, as he entered the room he realised the bed was huge it was the first thing you saw! None of his wives were here and it was empty. Luo Binghe closed the door behind him and Shen Qingqiu flinched he had no idea what was coming, he couldn't mentally prepare for this.
Luo Binghe had to determine what type of servent this is. how much he knew and what he believed. With no warning, Luo Binghe flicked his wrist and red bands swarmed Shen Qingiue and suddenly snapped binding his body, Shen Qingqiu flinched.
"Lord Lou Binghe- What?" He asked, his cold demeanour changed a hint of fear before being pushed down to cold indifference. He was adaptable, Luo Binghe figured he'd give him that much.
Lou Binghe tied the rope and shoved 'Shen Qingqiu' onto the bed and straddled him his hand slowly rising and clasped against his old Shizuns neck.
He could feel his pulse in his neck pounding. Luo Binghe's face was devoid of a smirk or humour. This was the last test. He squeezed Shen Qingqiu's neck for a moment then let go. "You said to repay all punishments tenfold, you will pay for what you've done to Ning Yingying."
Shen Qingqiu face was pale, sweat beading down his brow as he looked horrified, almost trying to shrink away into the bed away from Luo Binghe, before swallowing and shutting his eyes in defeat. Accepting anything Luo Binghe would do to him.
This man honestly believed in the lie of what his Shizun had done to his first wife. Luo Binghe raised his hand and cut into his palm and pressed it against Shen Qingqius mouth, going along with the scene to feed him his blood, he could ask any question and pull them from him.
Shen Qingqiu eyes snapped open and tried even further to turn his face away, Luo Binghe grabbed his jaw prying it open and saw this Shen Qingqiu glared at him breathing through his nose and trying to buck the demon lord off him, he struggled and Luo Binghe realised he knew what his blood could do. Not many people have that knowledge.
He managed to get the mans mouth open to swallow his blood and saw the fight drain from his body as his eyes widened, feeling the cool metalic taste slide down his throat then pool in his stomach and could feel the weight as the blood parasites began to hatch and spread.
Luo Binghe pulled his hand away from Shen Qingqius bloody face his hand pressed against his chest feeling his heartbeat pumping against his palm. He could kill him right now and decided to send a pulse through his blood and heard Shen Qingqiu groan trying to move or bend as his stomach pulsed in pain. Luo Binghe pinned him down keeping him still. Shen Qingqiu almost snapped for him to get it over with already!
But Luo Binghe's face was hard and cold, no longer the triumphant look of a protagonist who had won. His next words made Shen Qingqiu freeze.
"Where is the real Shen Qingqiu?"
His response would tell Luo Binghe anything, Shen Qingqiu stared before his eyes flooded with tears as he seemed to unclench. "Thank god!"
...what?
Once the ropes were removed, with Shen qingqiu sitting on the bed along with Luo Binghe who sat crosslegged glaring at this imposter. Shen Qingqiu scowled "What did you expect me to say? I'm sorry Lord Luo Binghe you have me mistaken for someone else? You would've beheaded me on the spot!" Luo Binghe opened his mouth to protest then closed it, actually he probably would have. "You were finding an oportunity to tell me you weren't my Shizun?"
Luo Binghe watched, using his blood parasites to minter Shen Qingqiu who wasn't aware that if he lied he would face excrutiating pain. If he told the truth nothing should happen to him.
Shen Qingqiu rolled his eyes "No. I was trying to escape, once you have your mind set on something its impossible to back out. You wanted to punish Shen Qingqiu so my best bet would be to run away."
Truth.
"You seem to know a lot about me," Other than a few miscoceptions about Ning yingying "Are you Shen Qingqiu's spy?" Shen Qingiu scowled.
"No."
"Do you work for Shen Qingqiu in anyway? His lover perhaps?" His old masters face darkened considerably.
"I despise Shen Qingqiu, why would I work for him?"
Truth...
"Who are you then?" Luo Binghe asked placing a hand on his cheek, his old Shizun straightened up "I was called Shen Yuan, but I've gotten so used to Shen Qingiu now I doubt I'll respond to it." He looked put out but it had been a few years since he appeared here.
Truth...hmm- What if this Shen Yaun had an ability to lie? A test something obvious that Luo Binghe knew.
"Are you sure you're not Shen Qingqius lover, scorned? Or maybe instead of running away you stayed here for the promise of paying Ning Yingying debt? You seemed fine with being tied up..." Luo Binghe mused a teasing lilt to face. As if anyone would want to be punished by Luo Binghe.
Shen Qingqiu scowled "I'm not gay-" He grunted in pain almost doubling over. Luo Binghe blinked and even his old Shizun seemed stunned by this revolation. "No you don't like the company of men?" He teased and Shen Qingiu glared at him. "No?" He didn't sound too sure and grunted clutching his chest and Luo Binghe would love to play more- but he had more pressing matters to discuss.
"Is the real Shen Qingqiu alive and can you find him?"
Shen QIngiu continued to scowl at his with red eyes then huffed "I don't know- you could probably use this body to find him lure his soul to its original point? although I don't know what that'll do to me." He bit his lip worriedly.
Another truth, well...
"Until we know for sure, you will remain here." Shen Qingiu nodded "Since I'm in Shen Qingqiu's body it's for the best, with my reputation...if I walk out those palace doors I'll be dead." And it was the truth no one cared about Shen Qingqiu.
"You'll help me find the real Shen Qingiu, since I wasted so much time on you anyway-" Luo Binghe moved to alert Sha Hualing she would be moving their...guest, into more suitable chambers from now on.
There was something more to this Shen Yaun character, for once he wasn't sure if this man on his bed was possibly more dangerous than his old Shizun.

Rusong finally arrives🤩🤩✨️
..
~Lan xichen has completed his seclusion~~
*After class, at the cloud recesses*
Our young dimpled prodigy was about to leave the room.
Xichen: A-Song. Stay back.
Rusong: oh, yes Zewu Jun. *bows*
Xichen: *stops* forget about the formalities. You're my A-Yao's son.
Rusong: mn.
Xichen: speaking of which. Are you going to meet him?
Rusong: yes! Now I feel like I'm an accomplished cultivator. Thanks to your supervision and tutoring. I'll certainly meet A-Die and live with him in Jing Manor.
Xichen: he'll be so happy. *strokes head*
Xichen: does anyone know that you're a hulijing?
Rusong: no. Only Ling gege.
Xichen: you know you're very skilled.
I'm so proud of you.
You memorized all the rules, mastered the guqin, guzheng, dizi and the xiao. Remembering all scores perfectly. And your sword skills are remarkable.
Rusong: thank you, Zewu Jun.
Xichen: whenever I see you, I see Ayao
Rusong: *smile*
You know, Zewu Jun. One time, four fox spirits came to help me with my homework. But then I told them that it's not necessary.
Xichen: *laughs* maybe your A-Die sent them.
Rusong: generous of A-Die.
Sometimes I see them cleaning my room, lol.
Xichen: he'll pamper you more when you go to Jing Manor.
Rusong: I miss A-Die so much.
But Zewu Jun, is it true that you're going to marry my A-Die? Master Qiren keeps going on and on about how his nephew became seduced by a hulijing.
Xichen: yes. *blush* soon I'll marry him and join his harem.
Rusong: awww. I'm so happy about this! I had always looked up to you, as well as A-Die. And now you're going to join the imperial harem!
Xichen: mn.
Rusong: we'll be a happy bunch!
My A-Die, the reigning Huangdi, you, uncle team dimple. And millions of adoring hulijings.
Xichen: cutie Song'er, are you going to help your A-Die with imperial stuff?
Rusong: of course.
And people already love me
Xichen: very good.
Since you're here. Won't you care for some tea? I know you're a tea enthusiast like your A-Die.
Rusong: yes. Thank you. I would like some.
Xichen: *pours* here you go.
Little Dianxia.
~~
Jing Manor 📍.
A-Yao was busy setting things in place for Rusong's arrival.
Hou and Fuying: Huangdi.
Yao: *opens fan*
Hou: we have prepared Wangzi's room.
Yao: *smiling* excellent.
Did you put the sweets and fruits that he like?
Fuying: yes Huangdi. Pine Pavillion is spotless.
(Pine Pavillion is Rusong's personal residence on the imperial compound. It's called Pine Pavillion because his name means 'like a pine tree'
Yao: great great.
Where is he now? Is he coming with A-Huan?
Fuying: I'm not sure.
Xue yang: Jiggybun. *props his arm on his shoulder* who are we preparing for! Little diva?
Su she: *correcting* little Dianxia!
Mo xuanyu: my beloved nephew. Don't tell Jinling.
anyways I love my two nephews equally.
Yao: yes! He's finally coming.
Su she: I'm also excited, Huangdi.
Rusong: *enters* A-Die!!
Yao: A-Song!!
Yao: *hugs* A-Song! Oh look at you! I missed you so much.
Rusong: I missed you too!
Yao: did you succeed in what you went to do?
Rusong: yes A-Die.
Yao: excellent.
You're well talented and intellectual! There's nothing you can't do.
Rusong: I'm glad I made you proud.
Yao: not only me. But the entire empire!
You're their gem.
Mo xuanyu: child.
Rusong: uncle mo!! *hug*
Mo xuanyu: how are you, darling?
Rusong: I'm feeling very happy, uncle Mo.
Mo xuanyu: you what will make you happier?
Rusong: a makeover?
Like how you did when I was younger.
Mo xuanyu: yes!!
Rusong: ok. You can give me a makeover later.
Xue yang: xuanyu, you have to toughen up the kid.
Rusong: uncle muffin!!
Xue yang: who you calling muffin.
Rusong: you!!
Xue yang: stop making me sound cute! I'm not cute!
Yao: you kind of are.
Xue yang: *whining* jiggy!!
Su she: greetings, little Dianxia.
Rusong: oh why are you so formal, uncle Su. *hugs*
Xue yang: why didn't I get a hug.
Rusong: I won't forget you, uncle muffin. Bring it in. * hug*
Yao: how cute.
A-Song, Let's go have some tea.
Rusong: sorry A-Die, I had tea with Shizun.
Yao: I see. You're pampered by er ge.
Perhaps you don't need me anymore. *sarcastic*
Rusong: no no, A-Die. I'm fine for now.
Yao: ok. I was just teasing you.
Rusong: hmm. *opens fan*
Yao: how graceful. *opens his fan*
Rusong: learnt from you.
Xue yang: the diva don't fall far from the diva tree.
Yao: *smile*
Attendants: *greeting*
Dianxia.
Greetings Dianxia.
Huangdi and Dianxia, we will groom your tails. It will relax you.
Both: thank you very much. *smiles the same way*
Ahhh, double dimples.
Huangdi has bestowed prosperity on his empire. By giving us double dimples.
Have your seats. *begins to groom them*
Rusong: A-Die, may I go night hunting tonight? Then tomorrow I'll take a tour around Jingjing.
Yao: *caresses his face* sure A-Song. You can do both.
I'll send some hulijings to guard you.
Minshan, can you call A-Song's personal bodyguards?
Rusong: no no no. That's not necessary, A-Die. I'll be safe. I have always done these kinds of things when no one knew my identity.
Yao: oh A-Song. I care about you and your safety. Yet I know that you're strong enough to handle things by yourself.
Rusong: mn.
Yao: my A-Song is all grown up.
Rusong: I'm still your baby, A-Die.
Yao: awww. *kisses him on his forehead*
But A-Song.
Rusong: yes A-Die
Yao: putting night hunts behind. During your tours you must carry your bodyguards.
Rusong: sure. But can they be hidden?
I want to make a pseudonym for myself.
Yao: ahh, how interesting. Of course they can.
Rusong: well not tomorrow but one of these days, I want to enjoy street life, under a disguise.
Yao: do whatever you wish, darling. Once you're happy and enjoying life.
Yao: so. Have you thought of a pseudonym yet?
Rusong: Sung Gongzi.
Yao: very cute.
Yao: speaking of you, darling. You're very set for life.
Rusong: haha, of course I am.
I'm the Wangzi.
Yao: I meant that Yunping district is now owned by you.
Also if any sect claim the district or cultivates there, they have to pay you an amount. Hence you have pocket money of 1 million dollars.
Rusong: waw! Thank you, A-Die. I'll definitely cherish everything you give me.
Yao: *squeezes his cheeks* good boy.
And speaking of gifts, I bought you new clothes and ornaments. *claps twice* how are they?
Attendants: *walking in*
Rusong: they're so beautiful, A-Die!
Yao: there are new fans too.
Rusong: I love them.
Would I be an adorable hulijing like you?
Yao: certainly. You're already their handsome Wangzi.
Rusong: *smile*
Yao: *strokes head* well now you're here. I guess we should have a little soiree.
Rusong: I would love that!
But won't it be a bit last minute?
Yao: no.
I always have everything planned beforehand.
Xue yang: it's Jiggy we're talking about.
Su she: expert planner.
Yao: *strokes head* A-Song. Go ahead and get changed.
Rusong: sure, A-Die.
Rong (Rusong's personal attendant and friend): Dianxia!! I missed you!
Rusong: Rong xiong! Where were you. How's it been?
Rong: everything is great.
I was tidying up your Pine Pavillion.
Now it's clean and cozy.
Rusong: thank you very much.
Rong: come Dianxia, I'll help you get ready.
Rusong: *smiles and opens his fan* thanks again.
Let's go.
*exits*
Yao: ah. I'm so happy.
Xue yang: that A-song is a diva.
Yao: noo. I'm just happy to see him like a proper Wangzi.
He's smart, talented, handsome,, resplendent, well mannered, lavish. He has an adoring staff, beautiful clothes and a palace.
Xue yang: right. Definition of a diva.
Su she: as he should.
Mo xuanyu: A-Song is just like you, Yao gege.
Xue yang: Jiggy, why are you and your family divas?
Yao: *laughing*
Xue yang: you and A-Song are divas, Zixuan is a diva, Qin Su maybe is a diva. Jinling as well.
Su she: lol. Is mo xuanyu one too?
Mo xuanyu: bro I'm always fab.
Yao: certainly.
Yao: anyways. I'll give A-Song everything he wants.
~~
Meanwhile in Qinghe.
Huaisang: *sitting and plotting*
Zhao: Gongzi. He's here.
Huaisang: *startled* where?!
Zhao: Jing Manor, Gongzi.
Huaisang: right, right. Don't scare me like that.
Zhao: Gongzi, aren't you supposed to do something for your villain arc?
Huaisang: yes. *smile*
Good that his highness is here. Now why don't he pay us a visit.
Zhao: what should we do.
Hauisang: kidnap him, duh.
Zhao: sure!
Huaisang: soon those cultivators would be out night hunting. And our dear hulijing prince will be there. So. I guess. You know what to do.
Zhao: yea we'll kidnap hulijing Dianxia
Mingjue: Huaisang!!!
*barging in* what are you scheming about!
Huaisang: nothing dage. We were just talking!
Mingjue: and you're going to bully a child? Meng Yao's son!
Huaisang: I'm not, dage! Trust the process.
Mingjue: look. I can't be chasing away hulijings anymore. What if you do something to the hulijing prince. Of course they will attack us and invade Qinghe.
Huaisang: nothing will happen. I have a full proof plan.
Mingjue: *walks away* this child.
What full proof plan?!
Huaisang: *running up to him* it's a plan for our future.
If we kidnap the heir then it will be the end of the hulijing empire. And we'll be in the spotlight.
Mingjue: if you pick up a sword, it will be the end of my headache.
Huaisang: *whining* dage!
Mingjue: stop scheming. Scheming doesn't look good on you.
Huaisang: really. Does it make me look fat?
Mingjue: *rolls eyes*
Huaisang: ........
Mingjue:.........
Mingjue: are you free by the way? Or do you have more scheming to do.
Huaisang: I get the code. You want me to do over your braids! Yes Dage I'm free.
Mingjue: good. Let's go.

Hi! I wonder Which series did you liked better: Zhen Huan or Ruyi?
Also it would be interesting to know which characters from both of shows did you liked?
Hi!!! ♥♥♥ Well, definitely, Ruyi, even if the two series hold a great place in my heart, both of them! I think what really brought me more into Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace than Zhen Huan is the more important place let to births and royal children: it's a type of plot I really like in fact, the way mothers and children are building a bond with each other among the royal/imperial family, and I was a little bit frustrating by it being quite dismissed in Zhen Huan. But tbh, this is just a matter of choice at the moment because wow... how these two series are good!!!
And for the characters I like more than the others, hmmmm...
In Zhen Huan:
Tumblr media
ALT
Zhen Huan: obviously! She's sweet but also smart, cunning, a little proud, but with morality, so I think she was a f*cking great character! And her road from little concubine to empress dowager was *chef’s kiss*
Tumblr media
ALT
An Lingrong: I love morally ambigous characters and for that, Lingrong was the best and I really found her interesting, her story was compelling and so moving... I was sincerely sad for her at the very last, truly.
Tumblr media
ALT
Cao Qinmo: what a girl! For a secondary character, she was so smart, ingenuous, and really not afraid to stand up for herself, which was so refreshing as she was introduced at first as no more than one of Hua Fei’s minion at the very best. I felt bad for her at the end, would have really liked to see her more!
In Ruyi:
Tumblr media
ALT
Well... Ruyi!: I think I would never stress simply how much I love this character, her gentleness, her intelligence, and yet also the fact she was strong-willed, not the kind of woman who would come back over her principles. She’s actually my favorite female lead among tv-shows and I endlessly cry everytime I see the finale of the show... Missing her so much each time... 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
ALT
Hailan: for a character that have been introduced as the best friend, she was definitely more interesting for me than Meizhuang was in Zhen Huan. Hailan is fierce, strong and resilient, yet she never overstepped anyone, even after she became one of the most proeminent women in the harem during Yongqi’s childhood, and for that, I love her more!
Tumblr media
ALT
Jin Yuyan: because, who doesn’t like a bitchy character from time to time? Smart, cunning, fierce and sometimes dangerous, I really loved all her multiple aspects, even when she was morally wrong (ex: when she bullied Yanwan). And damn, how she was impressive in the first part of the show!
I think there could be more, like some secondary characters, servants or minor concubines, but speaking about the lead characters, I think they’re actually my fav!

Yao: *reading through files*
Meng Shi: *enters* A-Yao.
Yao: *smile* A-niang! Please, have a seat.
Meng Shi: sure. Now what are you up to?
Yao: reports from various cities.
They're going good so far.
Meng Shi: as it must. Because of my extraordinary Yao'er.
Yao: *smiling* I want to strengthen the bonds a little more, for A-Song.
Meng Shi: that's a great idea, Yao'er. I'm always proud of you.
Yao: means so so so much.
Meng Shi: *smirks* Yao'er.
Yao: tell me.
Meng Shi: how are things with you and A-Su?
Yao: going well, A-niang.
Meng Shi: I can tell, because you're blushing.
You're look so happy.
Yao: yea, I'm glad she's back. She's lovely actually.
Meng Shi: i agree, little dimples.
A-Su is so poise, and she loves her family a lot. She's also devoted to you.
Qin Su: *walking in with some attendants* Yao huangdi! Tea is served.
I borrowed your staff.
Yao: lovely dear. My staff is yours.
Qin su: good to know. It's ginger tea, Huangdi.
Yao: ah, delightful.
Qin su: taihou, would you like some?
Meng Shi: certainly do, darling.
Qin Su: and it's very herbal too. So Huangdi would have extra energy.
I learnt this recipe from our guest, Wen Qing.
Yao: you're too kind *sips*
Qin Su: Yao Huangdi, you look really cute today.
Yao: thank you. You also look pretty.
Meng Shi and A-Yao: *communicating with their eyes and expressions*
Meng Shi: (isn't she the sweetest. Serving tea.?)
Yao: (yes. I miss these days)
Meng Shi: (Yao'er propose to her. You two are already bethrothed.)
Yao: (all of a sudden?)
Meng Shi: (duh)
Yao: (I'll do it when the time is right.)
Meng Shi: ( Yao'er, I want a daughter-in-law. Do something with your dimples at least)
Yao: ( A-niang. Don't make me blush. And what to do with my dimples?)
Meng Shi: ( the thing you normally do)
Yao: (*blushing* A-niang)
Meng Shi: (you and Rusong are the same.
You and Qin Su were married before. Propose.)
Qin Su: do you have a meeting today?
Yao: yes. *shows dimples*
Meng shi: (good. Show the dimple)
Yao: do you want to come accompany me? To see your people as well.
Qin Su:  I would love that.
Yao: great to hear.
Qin Su:  for these pass days, I enjoy being by your side.
Meng Shi: *gasps* REALLY???! you love my son?
Qin Su: always!
Meng Shi: awww!!!! *grabs her hand, then placed it in A-Yao's* my daughter-in-law. You're A-Yao's responsibility now.
Yao: are you sure you want to marry me?
Qin Su: obviously! Why wouldn't I?
Yao: because of the rumors. I thought I ruined your life.
Qin Su: don't say that. *kisses* I'm head over heels for you. You would never ruin me.
What about you? Huangdi? Would you marry me.
Yao: yes. I want to make you mine again.
Qin Su: *caresses his face* I was always yours.
Meng Shi: ah, my heart!
My Yao'er would take good care of you.
Today is such an auspicious day! This must be announced.
Yao: not yet, A-niang. I got to tell A-Huan and team dimple.
Meng Shi: ok! Ok. Please do.
I'll get some jewelry to gift A-Su.
~~~
Later that day,
Xue yang: where's Jiggy?.
Mo xuanyu: in my heart.
Xichen: *waiting as well*
Yao: *walking in with Su she, who was holding A-Yao's outer robes in his hands. * guys I got to talk to you.
Xichen: what's that A-Yao?
Yao: I'm going to get married to A-Su again.
Xue yang: waw, Jiggybun. Congrats.
*kisses* everyone gets weak when they see your beautiful face.
I still ship you and Wen Qing though.
Mo xuanyu: awww Congrats on your new harem member, Yao gege.
Su she: so is she going to replace Lan xichen?! Well Xichen, go pack your things. It was nice knowing you. I won't miss you at all.
Have a safe trip back to wherever the hell you came from.
Xichen: *glaring at him*
Yao: noo she's not going to replace him, lol.
Su she: dang it.
Xichen: *hugs* A-Yao I'm so happy for you.
Yao: thank you, A-Huan.
And team D!!
Mo xuanyu: congrats Yao gege! I love you so much!
Yao: thank you!! I love you too!
And A-niang was also pushing us to get married!
Mo xuanyu: awww
Xue yang: she's a boss.
Su she: that's great. Taihou likes Ms Qin more than Xichen.
Xichen: she never said that.
Su she: ohh, look who's jealous.
Mo xuanyu: Yao gege loves all his harem members equally! So I'm not bothered by HER.
Yao: right.
Fuying and other attendants: *entering with bouquets of flowers and other gifts* Huangdi, Huangdi.
Congratulations.
Yao: awww. What a beautiful surprise, guys. Thank you.
Huangdi, may you continue to have a happy harem.
Yao: *smiling*
Xiying: hulijing Huangdi, may we groom your fox tail?
Yao: of course you can. That sounds lovely.
Our adorable Huangdi needs a facial.
Not that his skin isn't already flawless.
Yao: *sits* well my dear attendants. Pamper me here.
Xiying: yes Huangdi.
Yao: *makes his floof appear*
Fuying: Huangdi, the announcement was made.
Yao: oh great.
Su she: *massaging A-Yao's arm*
Mo xuanyu: *rests his head on A-Yao's lap.
Xichen: *plays liebing*
Yao: delightful. *relaxing*
Su she: Huangdi you're so gorgeous.
Yao: so are you.
Su she: m...me?
Yao: mhm.
Xue yang: Jiggy, Lan lips pulled out a whole flute to serenade you.
Yao: and it's beautiful.
Su she: I find he should play it better. Like you're playing the flute for my Huangdi.
Yao: A-Huan's music is always very elegant and ethereal.
Su she: hmm.
Yao: *closes his eyes*
Su she: once you're pleased, Huangdi.
Xiying: you're the cutest of all hulijings, Huangdi.
Yao: *smiling*
Mo xuanyu: will she be the empress?
Xue yang: obviously.
Xichen: I think that mother-in-law ships them as well.
Su she: really?
Xue yang: do you blame her tho!
Mo xuanyu: aww that's cute.
Qin Su: *entering* Huang--
Yao: *opens glowing golden eyes*
Qin Su: *speechless*
Yao: A-Su. *stood up*
Qin Su: why are you so hot?
Yao: it's a hulijing thing. Don't mind it.
Xue yang: it means chokehold time!
Su she: I gotta write a whole essay on Huangdi opening his eyes. *nosebleed*
Mo xuanyu: I'm. I'm a simp.
Qin su: *confused about team dimple*
Yao: they're very passionate. Don't listen to them.
I came here to tell them the great news.
Qin Su: delightful.
Yao: do you want to hang with us?
I'll make you some tea.
Qin su: sure Yao Huangdi. I would love to.
And you have some beautiful eyes.
Yao: thank you.
While yours is like rich ink.
Qin su: aww.
Yao: *supports her* have a seat.
Qin Su: mn.
Yao: do you see, the attendants sent us flowers to congratulate us.
Qin Su: they're so friendly.
Taihou wants to go out with me later. And I'm a bit nervous.
Yao: why?
A-niang is chill.
Qin su: it's like, I'm engaged to you, who's the handsome, dimpled, hulijing Huangdi. And I haven't really met your mom before.
Yao: A-Su A-niang already likes you. Don't be nervous.
Qin Su: ok then.
Yao: here's your tea.
Qin Su: thanks.
Mo xuanyu: how wasn't Xichen nervous.
Su she: cuz he's full of himself.
Qin Su: if he steals someone's husband then he won't be nervous about anything else.
Xue yang: ouch.
Mo xuanyu: slayyyy, other woman! I mean Su jiejie!
Xichen: guys, because I know that she's friendly like A-Yao.
Qin Su: yes Xichen, MY mother-in-law is friendly.
Mo xuanyu: dude I was Shy to speak to her. Like what if she thinks that I'm a yandereous creep.
Yao: yandereous? What a new word.
Su she: I was also shy. And respectful. Cuz she's my Huangdi's mom afterall.
Xue yang: I don't know whats shy. I just told her that I'll throw people in a brothel with a severed tongue if they insult her and Jiggy ever again.
Yao: see. The harem survived A-niang. You can too.
Qin Su: ah, that helped.
Su she: good thing you're not Huaisang. He's not allowed to sneeze.
Qin Su: *laughing* oh my goodness.
Mo xuanyu: I heard that she twisted Mingjue's ear.
Xue yang: you're in the clear. DW. Because you're not a Nie.
Su she: cuz she's not a scheming brat like Huaisang.
Qin su: hahaha, thanks for the info, team dimple!
Qin Su: your tea was delicious, Yao Huangdi.
Yao: please. You can call me A-Yao, A-Su
Qin Su: *blushing* but you're my Huangdi, and I'm a middle classed hulijing.
Mo xuanyu: you're a hulijing???
Qin Su: half.
Mo xuanyu: wow.
So Song'er is rightfully Yao gege's successor. Two parents being hulijings!
Su she: little Dianxia is awesome as always!
Qin su: A-Yao grew Song'er to be powerful.
Am I right, Yao Huangdi.
Yao: yes.
Xue yang: ah, Susu. You can call him Jiggy if you want.
Qin Su: *blushing* Jiggy?,
I'm not like you, xue yang.
And I'll definitely not call him Jiggy.
But if he wishes.
Yao: call me anything, darling.
Qin Su: I rather have respect for my Huangdi husband.
Su she: right.
Qin Su: team d, A-Yao. I gave to go meet taihou, alright. Bye.
Yao: no prob, and have fun.
Qin Su: mn. *exits giggling*
Xue yang: Susu is head over heals for Jiggy.
Mo xuanyu: she's getting a lot like team dimple.
Su she: lol.
And she hates Xichen.
Xichen: I'm right in the room.
Su she: I know that.
Xue yang: I'm left in the room. Hehehehe.
Mo xuanyu: and I'm bored!
Xue yang: we'll show jiggy and A-Su the fierce corpse training ground, when she gets back.
Mo xuanyu: great!
Xue yang: and yes Jiggy, it is a date. I asked myself out on a date for you.
Yao: ah, *sarcasm* thank you yangyang.
Were you feeling lonely?
Xue yang: hell yea. How did you know? *grabs waist* Jiggy, baby.
Su she: flirtatious much.
Xue yang: nosy much.
~~~
On the other side, Meng Shi carries Wen qing to a bazaar.
But this wasn't like any other bazaar, as it sold things that had a high quality.
There had fans, fabrics, hair accessories and other trinkets. Also, this bazaar came with its own music.
Meng shi: you're very graceful and elegant, and quite much deserve the best.
Choose anything you like.
Qin su: mn. Thank you Miss Meng.
I'll inform you when something catches my eyes.
Meng Shi: tell me about your achievements.
You must have moved mountains by now.
Qin su: my laoling Qin sect has spread to Dongying and Korea, along A-Yao's empire.
We're a mixture of fox spirits and cultivators.
Meng Shi: excellent. That's so delightful to hear! You're a boss.
Qin su: thanks. Song'er had worked in Laoling too.
I just hope he becomes the sect leader as well.
Meng shi: he will.
I'm so pleased with you and Yao'er, giving Song'er such a bright and rich future.
Qin Su: it's our duty as parents.
Meng Shi: Song'er is so lucky.
Qin Su: mn.
Meng Shi: how come Minshan didn't talk about you being in the sect conferences?
Qin Su: running that sect alone, is so tiresome.
So at times I rather do my work and build my sect members than attend anything.
Meng Shi: you're so brilliant.
And you deserve to relax and be pampered. Be married to a handsome emperor as well.
Qin Su: as in your A-Yao. *laughing*
Meng shi: *smiles* who else.
Do you like this design? Look at the patterns on the fabric
Qin Su: aww, that's pretty! And unique.
Meng Shi: mhm. Very exquisite.
Qin Su: I think I should get them.
Meng Shi: as you wish.
Get some fans too.
Qin Su: sure.
Meng Shi: so. What are your plans later?!
Qin Su: maybe spend some time with Huangdi.
Only if he permits. *blush*.
Meng Shi: I love that!
Qin su: I hope team dimple doesn't intervene.
Meng Shi: never.
A-Yao will be yours for the evening.
Meng Shi: ohh right! What about your staff and maids?
Qin su: I have a personal maid named Bicao.
Meng shi: lovely.
You know she must do some sword training.
Qin Su: yes, I'm aware.
Meng Shi: Now come on, let's continue shopping.
Qin su: certainly.

@elderjia said (inbox):
' do you believe in things like rights and succession? ' the sear of his scarlet remains unwavering, arrogant with self-assurance and yet still without any overflowing conceit. it's the content regard, perhaps, of someone addressing the likes of one they might have considered an equal, if not suitable company for themselves. jia huan held no interest in stomping on his summoned servant's metaphorical toes, after all. nor would he ever debase himself to floundering about before them in an attempt to dominate and control the proud and powerful likes of which he understood as beyond his mortal shell. it's thus he simply poses his query, before laughing and seemingly answering it for himself. ' in this world, it's better to throw such things away. the only rights anyone needs these days is cunning and strength. or perhaps that's never changed? what do you think, rider? can a king rule without ever being a warrior? it seems foolish to me. '
Tumblr media
     ❝RIGHTS OF SUCCESSION…?❞ HUH…what had brought this question to mind, he wondered? Ozymandias was silent as he listened to them speak further on that particular topic, his body language still as languid as it had been before they spoke to him. However, such lazy demeanor could shift and change as instantly as the weather was prone to storms. Even so, his summoner never measured how they spoke. They were not foolish, of course, and were mindful of who they spoke to, yet there was a kind of arrogance about them even in the face of a far greater predator in their midst. It was intriguing enough that Ozymandias decided to remain – intriguing enough that he was willing to hear what was said and ponder a response. ❝All kings should have a measure of cunning. Any can gain strength with persistence, but cunning…that is something learned, and very few often master it. For it is cunning that makes a king dangerous.❞ There was more to ruling than merely sitting upon a throne. A certain finesse in politics was necessary, and that took intellect. Not the mindless power of a charging bull. ❝You asked me if a king can rule without ever being a warrior, and to that I say – why does it matter?❞
     He was from a time where a ruler must know how to do battle in case they needed to show another their might. Be it invaders or be it those who forgot their place, a ruler’s blade must always be sharp and ready to be stained red no matter the days, months, or years. Thus, even in times of peace did he train. Alas…that was so long ago. Times had changed in the passing of centuries, and one need not ever have held a weapon to rule the masses. Head tilting back a bit against the seat he rested upon, he hummed softly, lost in thought for but a moment’s time. ❝The people need not see their king behead their foe or slaughter armies. They need to be made to feel as if they could do all those things and more in the name of their protection. That is easy enough to do with one who can hold a presence.❞

Name: 戴欢 Dai Huan Courtesy Name: 诚亮 Chengliang Swords Name: 伙伴 Huoban (meaning “partner, companion”) Age: 14-15 (beginning of Sunshot Campaign)
        33-34 (post mdzs canon) Height: 6’11 / 211 cm Weight: 216 lbs  / 125 kg
Personality: Very much a ‘gentle giant’, a big brother type. Can be childish and a bit dense but is fiercely protective of his family. He enjoys helping others and feeling useful, especially if he can use his size and strength to assist. He feels it can sometimes make him a burden so when he can prove to be of use it quiets those embers of insecurity.

Dai Huan was raised in a small sect. His father the younger brother of the sect leader. He grows up close with his cousins and is the proud big brother of two siblings, his sister, Dai Naifang, and his brother, Dai Heng (courtesy name: Yicai).
One of the first causalities of the war was his oldest cousin. The death left a mark on the sect that it never recovered from. They didn’t have much time to mourn, the sunshot campaign ramping up soon after. All those able to fight joined and left the children (Dai Huan and siblings as well as his surviving cousin, Dai Jing) in the care of the few elderly.
Just because they did not go to fight didn’t mean they were safe from the war. With it came many troubles. Supplies became sparse and soon even Wen soldiers found the town their sect resided in. Fearing the worst for the children, the aging adults gather up as much money and food as they can spare and send them to the village the sect leader’s wife was from. It was a more secluded place, surely it would be a safer place for the young ones.
Dai Huan being the oldest (”by just a few months” , his cousin would bite back, when times were simple and they could tease without worry) led his siblings and cousin to the village. It was a long journey, taking nearly two weeks due to Naifang and Heng being too young to have a golden core formed.
Once they reached their destination they were able to finally be at ease, somewhat. The village indeed had not been hit as hard by the war as their home and they were able to get by with the help of distant relatives and doing odd jobs around.
When they receive word of the war finally ending they are overjoyed. A bit older and with the hope of seeing their families again they begin their way back only to be met with a empty, ransacked home. The elderly left are nowhere around, either died from illness or age. Some even dying after standing up to Wen sect soldiers who quickly slaughtered them and used the sect’s grounds as a temporary campsite.
They decide to fix their home up as best they can as they wait for the surviving members of their family to return home. Weeks turn to months and then years but they never see a familiar face return. Dai Jing takes up the role as sect leader, Dai Huan assisting him in slowly rebuilding. Years past and with the four grown they are able to take in a few of the town’s children in to teach. It’s not much but it’s enough to dull the ache of loss as they move toward the future.
Misc:
- Meets Lan Min later in life and immediately wants to befriend this cool, beautiful, elegant cultivator. It turns into a deep love and by the age 30 they are happily married.
- Dai Huan loves cute, fluffy animals, but his favorite is ducks!
- No one is sure where Dai Huan got his height from. Both mother and father were fairly average, as are his siblings.
- He has spent most of his life taking care of his siblings, being a pseudo-parent figure. This might be where some of his childish nature comes from. Now that there is no war and his siblings are grown Dai Huan is able to let it out more often.
- Has a wooden charm that was made by his siblings for his birthday one year. It’s a very amatuer carving of a bird tied to a green tassle but Dai Huan cherishes it very much.
- Being so tall has given Dai Huan troubles througout the years. Clothing and shoes are a hassle and even something as simple as a bed needs to be customized and adjusted to comfortable fit him.
- Dai Huan’s talents lie in his strength and resilience. He is loyal and determined when he sets his mind to something.
- Once married Lan Min and Dai Huan spend a good part of a year in the Cloud Recesses but visits Dai Huan’s sect and family from time to time, spending extended periods there during the summer.
