❥ cloud is the type of person who will swear up and down that he doesn’t get jealous, but truth be told, he does. however, he doesn’t recognize it as jealousy at first.

❥ although, he definitely tries to shove his feelings down once he realizes that he’s somewhat upset. cloud won’t upright and confess that he’s jealous or go up to you when he sees someone flirting with you.

❥ cloud’s pretty understanding if you needed space or if you were just talking with someone else, he’s not gonna immediately resort to his insecurity.

❥ but once it’s a reoccurring experience, or if they know what they’re doing— or worse, if they’re actively flirting with you or touching you, then he’ll definitely start to get a little jealous.

❥ instead of actively confronting you or getting up in the flirt’s face, he’ll only watch afar at first. he’ll observe the conversation, the light touches, checking to see if you look uncomfortable or not.

❥ when it begins to become too much though, cloud’ll come up to you, saying something along the lines of how he needs you or needs your help and that it’s so urgent that you have to come with him asap.

❥ if you even insinuate that he got jealous though, he’ll deny it to the moon and back and say that it never happened. he may act like he doesn’t care, but don’t let it fool you. cloud cares about you way too much to let you be slobbered over at a bar by a disrespectful dude.

❥ i feel like zack’s semi into pda? as long as he’s not around the firsts or anybody important, especially angeal, then he just can’t wait to show you off. he can’t help it, poor boy loves you too much 😭 so because of the somewhat pda, i dont see a lot of people trying to flirt with you— especially knowing that your boyfriends a SOLDIER.

❥ i dont think he’d even notice at first, too busy talking to you to even notice that theres someone who has your attention also. i cant see anybody really trying to flirt with you though, zack’s like that one small dog who keeps yapping at your feet when you get to close to its owner.

❥ zack is very vocal!! if the person interrupts your conversation, he will blatantly call them out on it. he’d narrow his eyes at them and just say, “hello, i was talking to them??” because who interrupts people like that?? plain rude!!

❥ saw this in another post and i totally agree with it, zack’ll joke and joke with underlying messages behind these said ‘jokes’ and definitely has the mindset of, “what can they offer when you have me???” he just doesn’t see how they catch your attention or why they’re talking to you while hes sitting right there??

❥ will bend over backwards just for your attention, he will pout otherwise if he doesn’t get your full undivided attention after his attempts.

❥ will probably annoy the person after you’re gone by either passive-aggressively interrogating them or ranting about how in love he is with you. he’s like the cartoons where they hold their chin in their palm with heart eyes as they look up all dreamy with a giant thought bubble that’s just you. he can’t help it, he just loves you too much (ᗒᗣᗕ)՞!!1!1!

❥ for pre nibelheim (because i miss soft and not crazy sephiroth), i cant see him getting all that much jealous? i guess he’d get more so protective if he sees someone all up on you— but otherwise, he’s pretty laid back about it. he puts a lot of his faith in you entrusting that you won’t break it, so i cant see him going crazy over it.

❥ i think sephiroth’s mature enough to not cause a scene even if he was jealous, though. he wouldn’t be petty or actively try to keep you away from anybody pre nibelheim, although he finds it amusing how they try to flirt with you.

❥ he especially has to have trust in you considering he’s a first class!! unless you are also a SOLDIER or you’re associated with shinra, you guys will spend semi-large gaps of times apart. he doesn’t think you’d betray him like that though, he’s mature enough to have a conversation if he’s really worried.

❥ sephiroth has his moments of insecurity, but usually when he’s off duty— he’ll be with you. i’m just imagining sitting at a bar with sephiroth as he’s literally right beside you while this persons trying to slide up next to you lol. i also don’t think sephiroth gets jealous because he knows his worth and know he can be intimidating when he wants to be!! even just his teasing makes people quiver in their fuckin boots lmao. i doubt anybody would wanna mess with a first class SOLDIER who’s fit and over 5’11” / 180cm.

❥ after they either get intimidated or realize their advances aren’t working and that you’re happily in a relationship with sephiroth and leave, he’ll chuckle to himself as he thinks aloud about how silly it was to even attempt to get with you, knowing who you’re with. on the off chance that he’s feeling a little possessive or something, he’s not one for pda but he might just give you a kiss after they leave and a quick murmur of amusement due to their foolishness.

❥ now!! post-nibelheim!! you’re not even gonna be out of his sight enough to be hit on considering he’s kinda like.. a war criminal in a sense 😭. he’s much more possessive in his little silly criminally existentially crisis insane arc, never letting you leave alone or even go out in public that often. he’s much more obsessed with you after his break, so if he finds someone even making advances on you?? ooh, boy.

❥ reno is one weird little dude, let me tell you that. every time i think of reno, i think of a cat. with a suit. suit cat.

❥ reno does get jealous a lot of the time, even if he is usually all up on you anyways. he still is a turk and also has to spend some time away from you, leading to overlapping thoughts of you while he’s away, maybe not even just possessive but also about if something happened to you. nothing could cure these thoughts better than a little phone sex, though.

❥ i’d like to think reno’s into pda as long as he’s not at work, poor rude having to witness wet kisses on your cheek with a lazy arm slung across your shoulder ever day. so i can’t really imagine anybody trying a bunch of stuff with you when usually— reno’s not too far behind.

❥ if reno happens to be not right next to you and he’s just doing his own thing and he happens to GLANCE AT YOU? AND HE SEES SOMEONE HITTING ON YOU?? instant slide next to you.

❥ he’s petty enough to start calling you all these pet names while he’s sitting next to you, wrapping his arm around you while he’s sizing the flirt up. he’ll look them up and down with a hard stare and maybe throw some passive aggressive comments every once in a while.

❥ he’ll probably make them uncomfortable (unless they wanna square up, because knowing reno, he might just charge if the person reciprocates his belligerent comments) so by the time they already leave, reno’s already whining against you as he asks what that was all about, acting all clueless afterwards. but you can tell just from the tone that laces his voice that he knows what he’s doing lol.

❥ he’s just a petty guy, maybe not so much possessive because i mean you can go out wherever you want wearing whatever you want (maybe after a small quickie at home if it’s something revealing), he can fend for you. he swears he’s your knight in shining armor no matter how much he teases you lmfao

❥ now here’s the real knight in shining armor™!!!! angeal is your savior if you’re ever in an uncomfortable situation, although he doesn’t really get jealous at all— he’s just very observant of you.

❥ angeal has a whole thing about how in a relationship you must have faith and he’s very comfortable with both you and himself. he’s happy in your relationship and he is secure with himself!! if zack ever sees you two together and he’s like “(」°ロ°) 」??”, bombarding him with questions as usual, then i can just see angeal giving zack a talk on how to treat women and the gentleman way of approach— although zack is very respectful, it’s just in angeals nature to lecture.

❥ he won’t think anything of it when someone you know sits with you, you guys usually know each others relatives and friends well enough to trust them. but he’s a little iffy when a random stranger starts chatting you up.

❥ angeal obviously trusts you!! again, unless you’re a SOLDIER (which he wouldn’t prefer only because he worries about your well being), then you guys will have to spend some time apart. he has a lot of faith in you and will always write you when he’s away, letting you know he’s always thinking of you while you’re apart.

❥ if anything, he’ll save you if he notices you’re uncomfortable or something along those lines. he’ll swiftly say he needs your for something and apologizes to the person out of courtesy that he interrupted your guys’ conversation, but oh it’s so urgent, we must retreat!! and i must hold you hand in hand while we run off and do totally boring SOLDIER duties!!

❥ omfg then he pulls you aside and asks if you’re okay and ugh i just want him so bad. like sephiroth, he’ll also explain how foolish it was to even hit on you when you’re clearly happily in a relationship with him. you two’ll walk along back to hq (?) or whatever while you talk about how odd the encounter was.

❥ so in conclusion !! angeal is a gentleman and doesn’t get jealous / protective unless he thinks you’re in trouble or you’re clearly uncomfortable. angeal hewley to the rescue!!!

❥ this dramatic bitch.

❥ genesis is so petty that he’ll probably consider the possibility that you’re flirting back? and then proceed to ignore you or leaving you off with some esoteric poetry while he tends to his duties. he is first class, after all.

❥ if he’s sitting right next to you though, and he hears that you’re not flirting with them. he’s petty enough like reno where he’ll suddenly be throwing out all these dramatic pet names and throw longing glances towards you, except he won’t even spare a glance towards the other person— simply only paying attention to you.

❥ id consider genesis a jealous person, but i do think that most of it strikes a protective instinct within him. he does understand that he’s also a first class SOLDIER meaning he’ll have to trust you, but he has way too much time on his hands to think. also like angeal where he’ll write you as much as he can— except he’ll send you mindless poems he writes or favored quotes of LOVELESS.

❥ in the case that you leave to go to the bathroom or any sort of occasion, genesis would probably scare the other person or make them feel uncomfortable as well. but when you return and they’re gone, he’ll act so clueless. all, “whatever do you mean, dearest?”

❥ another instance where i don’t think anybody would try anything with you. like angeal and sephiroth, genesis is a first class SOLDIER. everybody knows these dudes are the real shit (well, mainly only sephiroths talked about, but it applies to genesis and angeal too!!) so hes all smug parading you around as he side eyes every person who gawks at you. of course he knows you’re beautiful, but your beauty is too much for these fools to comprehend. so yes, he must glare at every single of them.

❥ and yes, also like his companions, he will jeer and whine about how silly it was to try that with you when you two are alone. i can even see genesis pulling a cloud and just whisking you away claiming you need to do something and then act like nothing happened afterwards. either that, or he’ll overdo it and claim to be your angel— no in between.

long winded ass post I contemplated not writing but did it anyways. read if you’d like or ignore lmao.

so I feel as though this kind of goes without saying but a lot has changed on tumblr and the vibe has shifted a lot, sadly, not for the better either :/ I thought about this for a while and although last week, I was not posting any new content due to the strike, I’ve decided to step away from writing in general after this month. I could sit here and go on a tangent about how it’s the ‘algorithm’ and ‘dying fandoms’ but to me, this boils down to the fact that I refuse to exhaust myself to be unappreciated + disrespected. That’s not to say I’m ungrateful to everyone who reblogs and comments on my works all the time because I am incredibly grateful! I love each of you and I look forward to reading your tags/thoughts. However, it’s not lost on me that the anime fandom in general is becoming shrouded in toxicity and many of us are being pushed away. We’re in an age where people are seen as content machines and not humans so others feel entitled to their art and feel no need to be kind, understanding or empathetic to that person’s feelings. I’m not wasting my time trying to teach people manners that they should’ve learned a long time ago. I refuse to share my craft with people like that. And to say the quietest part out loud: y’all don’t want black writers around, PERIOD. One scroll through the dash shows that much. As someone who’s written primarily for AOT (not changing btw) and specifically the black side of the fandom, it’s almost laughable at the extreme lengths that ppl have gone through to see it be erased. And I don’t mean getting fics hit with labels or reporting (that failed so they switched to plan B.) since I began back writing in 2020-21, it was obvious that it was the most popular among black girls and I remember ppl telling me to write for them. Hell, it’s the sole reason I even watched. Needless to say, I fell in love with the show and it holds a special place in my heart. However, I realized I didn’t need any of the original material. Not only that, in all the years I’ve been writing, it’s the first time I’ve seen so many black girls resonating and happy with a group of characters. It was the first and only time I’ve seen stories where I didn’t feel as though them being a black character was a hidden secret or toned down to appeal to others (no shade). It was in my face and proud, even if I didn’t personally resonate with the reader or concept of the story. It still felt good coming from a fandom where I was literally the ONLY black writer in it. Fast forward and I clearly see that now, it’s not welcomed. We could sit here and blame it on non-blk (yt) having the problems but that’s a load of bullshit and the only enemies we have are one another. It’s been other black writers who have littered the tags with discourse abt the same stupid topic to avoid new fics being seen. It’s been other black writers who have switched fandoms when they were no longer the ONLY ones bc coexisting is just too damn hard apparently. It’s been other black authors who have made it blatantly clear that they are only interested in seeing and creating stories that are palatable to other races so they won’t be perceived in a negative light or to be seen as one of the ‘good ones’. Even down to not using black reader tags or avoiding coded language. So much so, they are comfortable laughing at anti-black rhetoric being pushed on other apps so as long as their new favs are not the brunt of the joke.

I’m not here to tell anybody how or what to write. I’m not here to say you ONLY have to like one show but what I am saying is that i will NOT be spending hours and days agonizing over a fic for it to be minimized to a joke for a bitch on TikTok. I will not spend the little free time I have trying to crunch and finish a fic for it not do well but watch y’all pile in my mentions to argue over nonsense. And I won’t sit here and watch y’all purposely try to run other black writers away bc they don’t fit ur aesthetic. Fiction is fiction and whether you resonate with it or not, it’s expression. I’m a boring ass country bumpkin from the middle of nowhere, Florida who’s got social anxiety, chronically ill, neurodivergent and is in bed by 10:00. I don’t smoke, never had sex and I literally never leave the house unless I’m grocery shopping. I never have and never will live the life of any of my characters, even the most tame ones. But I write for EVERY black girl and want everyone of them to be seen. The one space where that seems to be allowed is obviously not welcomed anymore. Arguing and trying to defend ourselves against people who are committed to misunderstanding us is pointless. Minimizing us down to ‘baby mama’, ‘hoodrat’ fics, simply bc you no longer like certain characters (many of which you all were writing for not too long ago) is quite frankly clown and coon ass behavior. Watching y’all become enraged by tropes that are used by ever race, every fandom, etc but turning the blind eye bc it suits ur narrative is fucking hypocritical and laughable at best.

I’m not insecure in my writing. Never have been and never will be. I know I pour everything I have into creating the best work I can and it’s for that reason that I won’t allow it to be treated like trash. I have over 250 drafts in my Google docs and best believe, that’s where they’ll stay until I see fit. Although I know it’ll probably mean leaving the last place I have any sense of community and social interaction in general, it’s not worth coming on here angry everyday in defense mode. Its not worth getting out of my character over and I rather just not be around if it means I have to play mean girl. My mind may change and all of this will just have been me getting shit off my chest but as of right now, this account will be archived come February 28th. Thank you to everybody who’s supported me this far and gave me a safe space. I love all of you so very much and hope that we can enjoy the rest of this month together 🫶🏾 🤍

The music pumped so loudly that you could feel the bass thrumming along your skin. It was electric, and the only thing that soothed you right now was when the taste of the bourbon in your red solo cup slid down your throat with ease. 

You found it kind of funny that Stark rented out an entire club, buying the most tasteful liquor but refused the glasses and shelled out money for red solo cups instead. You had teased him, saying he was looking to relive his youthful days, but Stark insisted it was because it would get more expensive when people got too drunk and broke the glasses one way or another. 

You didn't blame him. Stark was a particularly stressed individual, even if he hid it behind his snarky remarks and flippant personality. But that was what you especially liked about him. 

"Are you having fun?"

You hold your cup out to Natasha, letting her pour you another bourbon on ice.

"So much," you replied flatly, looking her in the eye as she smiled. "It's almost crazy how much I can't contain my excitement."

Natasha laughed, tipping her cup towards you, and you bumped yours against hers in cheers. Once the two of you took a generous sip of your drinks, Natasha sighed as she leaned against the counter.

"You didn't have to come tonight," Natasha drawled. "Stark throws one of these every year. He won't even know if you're missing one."

"Thanks for blatantly lying to my face." You smirked. "But with his neurotic personality? I'd be getting phone calls all night if I didn't show up."

Natasha only chuckles in response, and you know that she knows that you're correct. She turned to you, about to say something else, when she noticed a glint in your eye. Following your line of gaze, Natasha only sighed. 

Across the room, past the many bodies of people dancing, was Wanda arguing tersely with her boyfriend.

"Stop," Natasha warned you, flicking the side of your head. You turned to look at her with a raised brow. 

"Stop what?" You asked innocently. 

Natasha rolled her eyes. "You know exactly what." Her nose is scrunched up in mild displeasure. "Stop staring at Wanda and Vision fighting. They're really on the rocks lately, and your flirting with her has been making it worse."

You shrugged, uncaring. "Wanda hasn't told me to stop." You smirked again. "And from the looks of it over there, she might need someone hitting on her to lift her spirits."

Natasha bumped her shoulder against yours, shoving you slightly in reprimand. "Don't you feel bad at all?" She sighed. "Vision isn't...a terrible guy and everyone can tell you make him feel...small."

"I think it would take me having a second heart to feel remotely bad for him," you rolled your eyes and then scoffed. "He's not a terrible guy, but I wouldn't exactly say he's awesome either. He's so condescending to Wanda."

Natasha only fidgets uncomfortably at your words, unable to fight against them. It was hard when Natasha thought back to Wanda's muted behavior this last year. You wouldn't have known being new to the group, but Wanda used to be so full of laughter and mischief. Now, she was so serious and, well, drab. 

"Still," Natasha bit her lip. "They're dating and Wanda doesn't seem like she's come to her senses about breaking up with him."

"Maybe she just needs a little push," you quipped with a shrug. 

"If that were the case, the constant love confessions she gets would've woken her up already," Natasha pointed out dryly. "Wanda's not unaware that she's an incredibly attractive girl." Natasha left out the part that begs the question of why she stayed with a guy like Vision in the first place. 

"Yes, but she's told all those dudes to fuck off," you grinned, swirling the bourbon in your cup. "So, maybe," you licked your lips, eyeing the two arguing across the room, "she needs a little push from someone whose interest she's entertaining."

Natasha sighed, grumbling obscenities under her breath before she looked at you with unimpressed eyes. "I want no part of whatever you're planning to do tonight." With that, Natasha gave you a look before she walked away. 

You laughed as you began to walk off in the other direction.

"Well, if it makes you feel better, I have no plan!"

Wanda glanced at you. It was her 29th time since arriving at this stupid party. She hadn't wanted to come at all, not feeling social in the slightest lately. 

But Vision had insisted since he's been friends with Tony since they were young. Vision never missed any outgoing Tony planned, and sometimes it drove Wanda mad. It was a point of contention how often Vision would choose Tony over her needs. 

Wanda never blamed Tony since he was unaware it was a problem in the first place. Unless Vision told his childhood friend, and Tony was blatantly ignoring it and continuing on with the constant events and invites. 

The dimmed lighting and pumping music gave Wanda a slight headache, and she was about to turn to Vision to tell him they could only stay for an hour because, despite trying to convince her boyfriend to not go, big events like this were impossible to not go to. 

"Vis," Wanda kept her tone even. "I'm serious, I want to go home after an hour—two at the most."

"Wanda," Vision sighed as if she were being completely unreasonable. "You know these only happen once a year. Just—try to enjoy yourself, okay?"

Wanda didn't reply with anything in return, only tersely nodding her head. If she opened her mouth now, she would undoubtedly say something that would cause another spat between them, which has been happening a lot as of late. It just seemed like every little thing was a cause for an argument. Half the time, Wanda didn't even remember what they were fighting about by the time they had their next argument (which would be soon after).

Wanda pursed her lips. Well...that wouldn't be an exact truth. 

Lately, the fights have been centering around a few focus topics. Vision's lack of attentiveness, Wanda's nagging, and you.

It was bad, Wanda knew. She really shouldn't be indulging your witty banter, lingering looks, and grazing touches. Honestly, it was probably already considering cheating how much your attention charmed her. 

It was just the right amount of flirting. Friendly and obvious but not disrespectful. 

"I'm going to go find Tony. Do you want to come along?"

"No." Wanda answered shortly and shook her head.

Vision sighed deeply through his nose, pinching the space between his brows. "Fine," he gritted, trying to avoid another argument. "Just stay here and enjoy yourself then. I'll come find you later."

"It's hard to enjoy myself when I have a headache, Vis," Wanda glared at him.

"Then you should've taken an Advil before you came—" Vision started to raise his voice but immediately cut himself short. He muttered to himself as if he were trying to calm himself down. "I don't know what you want me to do, Wanda. We're here, so let's just do our best, okay? I'll see if Tony has some Advil."

"I want to go home, Vis," Wanda emphasized because she was sure Advil wasn't going to fix her mood. She had a tight feeling in her stomach that this party would be a mistake. 

Wanda looked over her shoulder again and found your eyes on her. They were aloof as you stared, and you weren't even paying attention to the girl talking in front of you. A chill scratched down Wanda's arms, her skin rising to goosebumps. 

That was probably why Wanda entertained it. You made her feel seen, and Wanda had never felt so seen by someone as much as she did when you looked at her. 

"Jesus Christ, Wanda. I wouldn't have insisted on you coming if I knew you were going to be so miserable to be around," Vision grunted. 

Wanda sharply turned back to Vision, her eyes flashing dangerously.

The song changes. The calypso beat and reverse guitar sound ring in your ears compellingly. 

You've been leaning against the back wall for a while now, nursing that bourbon drink Natasha poured for you earlier. The club is hazy with flashing blue lights, making it easier for you to be a wallflower. 

Well, almost.

"I didn't think we'd get to see each other again. I thought about texting you, but I don't know. I felt weird since you haven't texted me. But I mean, what a coincidence, right? I would've never guessed you knew Tony too."

You hummed, barely paying attention to the brunette in front of you. 

Wanda was still fighting with Vision, and honestly, you were quite impressed. They arrived almost half an hour ago, and they're still managing to fight in a club with deafening music. 

Your index finger tapped against your red solo cup along with the beat of the music idly. Natasha's probably right, and you shouldn't look at Wanda anymore. You have a perfectly nice woman in front of you now, eager to talk with you and probably would go home with you without too much work.

But Wanda Maximoff was a vice, and she had you in an unyielding grip.

You watch her across the room, eyes heavy-lidded and the edge of a red solo cup resting against your lips. It doesn't matter that a sea of bodies separates the two of you. It doesn't even matter that there's someone else in front of you right now, trying to get your attention. The sight of Wanda fighting with her boyfriend always caught your eye. 

Vision threw his arms up in frustration and defeat before he walked off. Wanda turned her head, eyes catching yours in a glint, and you smirked behind your cup.

And the sight of you staring at her fighting with her boyfriend had always caught Wanda's eye.

"That's lovely," you muttered half-heartedly to the girl in front of you, passing her your cup as you stood straight. "You like bourbon, right? You should enjoy yourself and I'll catch you later."

You heard the call of your name, but you're already navigating through the crowd of bodies.

A warm hand slid into Wanda's, fingers tracing her palm before interlocking. 

"Hey."

The husk voice and puff of air hit the shell of Wanda's ear, and she turned around as if she hadn't been waiting for you. The smell of bourbon and the citrus smell of Neroli Portofino hits her nose. She almost sighs contentedly but bites down her tongue instead.

"Hey," Wanda leaned in towards your ear to say back. 

Your thumb traced the thenar of her palm while staring into her eyes, searching for something—and god, Wanda hoped you found the answer because she couldn't verbally give you one. 

"Wanna dance?" You asked her, but you're already dragging her out onto the dance floor, between the sea of bodies, obscuring them from view. 

You pulled Wanda into your body, all her parts pressed against you perfectly. Your hands on her waist, squeezing tightly once.

Headache?

Wanda felt like such a liar. She was feeling something else—something that traveled much lower. Something that Advil couldn't fix.

This was a terrible, terrible idea. 

And Wanda blamed Vision for it. He really should've just taken her home. 

Wanda turned around in your arms, her back pressed against you as she ground against you along with the beat. Her hips sway while your hand caresses her shoulder, trailing down her arm. 

Your lips grazed the shell of her ear, ghosting down her neck, and suddenly the flirting didn't feel so friendly anymore. 

Your hand enclosed Wanda's, and her head fell backward, eyes fluttering close as she leaned against you, moving with the music. 

"You're so pretty," you muttered in her ear, and she almost couldn't hear it over the music. Wanda's hand tightened around yours, and she could feel the rumble of your chuckle. "Are you even thinking of him?"

Wanda's eyes snapped open as she looked at your piercing gaze and felt herself grow feverish. 

Guilt filled her because, no, Vision hadn't crossed her mind once until you brought him up. 

"I—" Wanda started to say, but nothing else would come out. 

"Must've been a pretty bad fight." You kissed the junction of her neck and shoulder. "He's a shitty, shitty guy. Otherwise, he'd cross your mind even a little."

Wanda felt you grip her chin, tilting her head down to stare straight ahead, and her stomach dropped.

"But I guess you're pretty mean too, Wanda. I mean, you're probably the only thing on his mind right now and you're not even thinking of him a little," you chuckled, and Wanda shouldn't feel so flushed with how callous it sounded. 

A couple of people have moved off the dance floor, giving Wanda the perfect line of sight to see Vision—or for Vision to see her, she supposed.

He stood there with a bottle of Advil; his face was grim.

But he didn't move, and neither did Wanda. 

They stood there, staring at each other.

"Don't think that bottle of Advil is gonna help him," you mused. "He looks sick to his stomach."

You nudged her to stand straighter, causing her to look at you. "Wanna get some fresh air, or do you wanna go be miserable with him?" You gave her a choice, despite your taunting words. Your grip on her hand loosened, only giving Wanda a split second to decide. 

Wanda tightens her hold on your hand. "No, it's pretty hot in here."

You gave her a lopsided smile as you began to tug her in the opposite direction of Vision, and Wanda followed, only turning her head back once to look at Vision's grim face as he gripped the Advil bottle. 

Wanda leaves, and he doesn't follow.

Wanda moaned against your mouth as you pressed her against the wall of the club in the alleyway. Her fingers slid against your jaw, pulling you closer as she consumed your lips over and over. 

She hated the taste of bourbon, but it tasted so fucking good on your tongue. Wanda wanted to concentrate on only one thing, and that was just how good it felt to have your hands sliding up her waist, ruffling her shirt as your thumb pressed against her ribs. 

But fuck, you were making it really hard for Wanda to feel the pleasure guiltless.

"So pretty," the words from your lips tumble into Wanda's mouth. "Think about you all the time. Can't believe you're with such a dickhead."

"Not right now I'm not," Wanda quipped, capturing your lips. 

The words made you chuckle, and you squeezed her in your hands. "Not right now?" You mused. "Are you saying you're going to go back to him?" You peppered kisses along her jawline.

"Are you telling me Vision's gonna take you back after he looked like he was going to throw up?" You pulled back just slightly to look Wanda in the eyes. Her chest rose and fell in deep pants, lips plump and cheeks flushed. 

You brush your lips against hers, pressing lightly as if to test the connection between the two of you. "He's probably standing there like a fucking moron thinking about how could you do this to him."

Wanda surged forward, deepening the kisses as she firmly pulled you closer. Her grip was possessive and intense, and she just wanted you to shut up.

"Natasha asked me earlier if I even feel bad," you pulled away, shifting your hands to thread through Wanda's hair, gripping her head to pull her into another lust-driven kiss. 

Wanda moaned.

"I don't," you told her. "I don't even feel a little bad."

Your thumb stroked Wanda's swollen lips. Really, she was so fuckin' pretty. 

Wanda raised her brow at you. "Are you gonna talk about him all night? If you keep making me think about him, I might just go running back right now."

You chuckled, pulling her into a rough kiss, teeth dragging at her lower lip, and Wanda whimpered. You soothed it over with your tongue, hearing her soft sigh. 

"Let's not make empty threats. You and I both know who's always on your mind. Does that make you feel bad?"

You woke up to an empty bed, but you weren't surprised. 

You checked your phone to see a bunch of texts from Tony to see if you were awake and sighed deeply, sending a quick message back.

Another thing you hated about the yearly parties was the brunch date the next day. 

You lingered in the shower, your fingers running over the dark hickeys that littered your neck and collarbones. 

By the time you made it, you were the last person.

"There you are!" Tony dramatically scowled at you, pointing his fork threateningly at you to sit down.

You took the seat next to Natasha, getting a questioning look from her with her brow raised. You winked at her before looking ahead.

Wanda and Vision sat together cozily, her head on his shoulder while his arm was around her. 

Vision was pointedly ignoring your existence, but Wanda looked at your amused gaze that trailed the matching hickeys on her neck poorly covered with concealer, raising her brow in challenge. 

"Man," Tony groaned, rubbing his face. "I feel like shit today. Anyone else feel bad?"

There were mumbles here and there in response. 

Wanda just stared at you before she soundly said, "No. I feel just fine."

✩ SEUNGCHEOL.

the type to look after you much more than he does to other people. i feel like he’s the kind of guy who makes it obvious that he does too, like always sitting next to you or at least nearby, giving you glances once in a while or whenever you spoke, and blatantly making his presence right there so you’d know that you were always free to approach him if you wanted any help with anything.

also, there might be a side of him that’s a little shy when you make the first move in interacting with him, but he’ll undoubtedly begin to talk more engagingly with you soon after he sees you getting more comfortable with him. there can even be a side of him that resorts to teasing you playfully a lot once he begins feeling at ease with you too, looking forward to your cute reactions at each comment he does.

✩ JEONGHAN.

the type to also tease you yet compliment you at the same time. he might see you one day sporting a new hairstyle or wearing new clothes and he’ll point it out, perhaps saying something like, “ooh, you look different today”, and if you blush and say that you indeed did either of the two, he’ll smile and answer back with a sincere compliment, saying that he thinks it looks great on you.

i feel like he’s the type to playfully trick you into eating / going out with him too. like you might have asked for his help one instance and he’ll say “you have to treat me out as thank you now”, but in the most non pressuring tone he could muster and wouldn’t really push it that much as well. he might even decline your offer when you take it seriously, insisting instead that he be the one to treat you out.

✩ JOSHUA.

the type to be super attentive with everything you say. i see him being the kind of guy who actually remembers anything that you told him once in a conversation, and the kind to bring it up whenever the opportunity arises just to make sure that you notice that he does digest everything that you decide to share with him.

alongside that, he’s someone who always takes the seat next to yours in gatherings, greeting you and asking how you are. he might initiate a conversation that he knows you’ll be interested in or will mention something that he’s been meaning to talk to you about, all in line to what you conversed about last time. if the conversation gets cut off, he’ll be brave enough to suggest that you continue it over a cup of coffee or over dinner.

✩ JUNHUI.

the type to be extra shy than he already is whenever he’s near you. it’s probably not him who’ll make it obvious that he likes you, but the members—thanks to their constant teasing or constant mention of your name each time all of you are in the same location. he might laugh it off over exaggeratingly out of embarrassment when they do it or he might even have the courage to send you an apologetic and shy smile if you happen to look their way.

despite his shyness though, i can see him trying hard not to act shy still if ever you do the first move in talking to him. he might have trouble maintaining eye contact but the more sentences are exchanged between the both of you, the more he’s able to let loose a bit and show you his true personality under all that shyness.

✩ SOONYOUNG.

the type to be ultra mega hyper when you’re near (in contrast to what jun would do lmao). i feel like he’s the kind of guy who would be both unintentionally and intentionally loud in order for you to notice him or maybe get a glimpse of his positive energy. however, he’s most likely only going to do that if he’s in a large group—like with the members, for example—and would actually be more on the timid side if ever you and him are the only ones left alone.

also, i think he’d be the type who asks you a lot of favors? like just any excuse to talk to you or get you to pay attention to him for a long time, but he’s sure to always add that you don’t have to and that he’s only asking you because you’re “the best person i can think of”. yeah, he tries to get on your good side a lot for you to know him and for him to know you more too.

✩ WONWOO.

the type to be awkward yet determined to give you a hint of his feelings. i feel like he wouldn’t be someone who’s comfortable in making moves apparent, but those who know him will really spot the difference in how he acts around you compared to others. he might try to be more engaging with you and do the first move in conversations, making sure that you know he’s interested in sharing thoughts with you often and that he enjoys them (he also tries to laugh at every funny comment you make and smile in acknowledgment at each agreeing opinion).

like joshua, i think he’s the type to situate himself close to you all the time. he might not always say anything and will mind his own business as he lets you do the same, though no doubt that after he arrives and before he leaves, he does the effort of greeting you and saying farewell respectively with a warm smile on his face.

✩ JIHOON.

the type to be more helpful with you and responsive compared to how he is with others. he’s another one that i don’t think would really be that obvious, so i think you’ll only really know that he likes you once people begin noticing that he doesn’t seem to be bothered by you and instead actually takes initiative to be of service in any possible way he can. an example might be just volunteering to do something for you without you asking, like answering a question you didn’t directly ask him or maybe going as far as buying coffee for you in the morning (okay, he might have bought many people coffee that day but he’s going to hand the cup personally to you).

i also see him being the type to use music as a way to express his crush on you. he might decide to some write lyrics that will reminisce your little encounters together, or maybe he’ll catch you listening to music yourself and will suddenly suggest a song that he thinks you’ll like based on what you were listening to at that time, low key hoping that music will something that will help the two of you bond in the future.

✩ SEOKMIN.

the type to be jollier and more talkative than he already is. kind of like soonyoung’s case, but seokmin’s more like he’s shining brighter than usual and actually glowing. he’ll act super nice towards you, a huge grin ready on his features and will always be interested in asking how your day went whenever you’d cross paths. he definitely stops whatever he’s doing just to interact with you, and i feel like that doesn’t stop when you’re only seeing each other personally, but extends up to chat messages and social media platforms.

i see him being the type to react to your instagram stories and replying to them, an obvious conversation about it on the way. but he wouldn’t be too straightforward whenever he messages you—he might try making you feel comfortable with him as a friend before he makes his crush more apparent, and he might be the type too to seem shy himself if ever your interactions face to face become more frequent.

✩ MINGYU.

the type to shamelessly flirt with you in every chance he gets (though keeping himself polite still). i see him being the kind of guy who follows you in instagram and likes every other photo that shows your face, probably commenting about how he likes your outfit or how you did your hair in that particular photo; sometimes a simple comment of “❤️” would be done too—as if him liking that said picture isn’t enough to get his point across.

he’s the type to always greet you when you pass by each other too, not caring that he’s bringing attention to himself whenever he does. though if you exhibit discomfort whenever goes and do just that, he’ll make sure to act more subtly, resorting to looks and smiles towards your way in times you pass by him, muttering a greeting instead of a rather obvious one.

✩ MINGHAO.

the type to put himself out there in the subtlest way possible. i feel like he’s the kind of person who makes his attraction to you apparent by being indeed obvious with his intentions—which is to maybe date you if you felt the same way—and would go out of his way to drop hints just so that you wouldn’t be that overwhelmed at first.

i do see him being the traditional type (kinda) in acting out his crush on you. he might give you a stem of a flower you like randomly one day just because, might bring a loved book of his and let you borrow it because he thinks you’ll like it, might offer to accompany you somewhere you’ve been meaning to go to that you mentioned once in a group setting, and might directly ask you out too once he feels like you definitely understood what he’s been feeling so that you’ll get the confirmation he also wants you to have.

✩ SEUNGKWAN.

the type to somehow give you special treatment in a way that he genuinely looks out for you. we all know that he’s a social butterfly and so maybe showing his concern might not be an obvious way to make it apparent that he likes you, but i feel like there’s a slight shy touch to how he approaches you instead or kind of like a flirty touch to it too? there might be hesitance whenever he talks to you or maybe he opts to not come as too straightforward given your shy nature as well.

i can also see him being the type to slowly penetrate your friend group in an attempt to get close to you, or kind of be that guy that is naturally just friends with your close friends too, thus enabling the both of you to be close eventually because of your mutual peers. he might take that opportunity to talk to you a lot, prompting conversations and cracking funny comments that will assure him he’ll appear friendlier in your eyes.

✩ VERNON.

the type not to make his crush on you apparent as well (more like unintentionally just because of his personality, really). he might just make it obvious from the way he finds himself looking at you from afar, always with that kind of curious look on his face or fond expression whenever you’ve done something that he secretly finds fascinating. plus, i feel like if you ever caught him looking at you at one point, he’s not one to look away because of it and will instead flash a small smile of greeting—just the right amount of politeness that you won’t think something out of, to be honest.

alongside that, i can see him being the type who’ll randomly comment on the things he sees on you; if you’re wearing a shirt that has a reference on it that he knows of, he’ll ask about it for the sake of a conversation, or maybe if he spots you wearing shoes from a brand he likes, he’ll mention it to you and will create a topic out of it too.

✩ CHAN.

the type to always initiate interactions and take care of you quietly. he has that vibe of someone who looks at you intently when speaking in a big group, nodding in acknowledgement and sharing his thoughts in return once you two are alone or even in the middle of that conversation. he also does this thing if he’s the one who’s talking wherein his eyes just naturally fall on you all the time, always just waiting for a reaction and thinking afterwards what your action might have meant.

he’s the type to be like soonyoung too, suddenly popping up beside you and asking about something that he can easily ask somebody else and yet he just had to approach you out of all people. there can be instances as well that the moment he feels you’re comfortable with him, will always cheekily tease you and help you get out of your shell, thus perhaps leading you to be as bubbly as him.

Hey Rosie, so i did a thing a decided to visit some taekook blogs to just read some of their theories to see if i could understand where they are coming from because no matter how hard i think about things, i just can’t for the life of me understand why someone will honestly still ship taekook in 2024 and even after watching everything Jikook have done for and to each other in years and when i tell you i lost braincells, believe me i did.

I’m one person who believes that people should be free to believe in what they want to as long as they are not being dismissive of other members bonds but i realized that, that is literally the only way taekookers cope. They are blatantly dismissive of Jk’s bond with Jimin and only acknowledge it when it comes to moments they cannot argue and then the want to play the “they are bestfriends so it’s normal” card even though just right before that, they were claiming how Jk arrived Yoongi’s concert and ignored Jimin. How can u say this and then when someone brings something which obviously shows how Jk cares about Jimin you are back to claiming that they are bestfriends even though you think Jk will arrive a concert and ignore his bestfriend just because he wants to cling to his “boyfriend”? Make it make sense.

I know that in the last years, jikook spaces have gotten really toxic and some jikookers are becoming as delulu as tkkrs but i will always thank God for the handful of sane jikookers we still have because trust me when i tell you that there is not a SINGLE sane taekooker in this world. All of them have either been brainwashed or are plain stupid. For the most part, most jikookers pay attention to facts to try to make sense of jikook. Yes we do have our theories but you don’t see Jikookers sticking to their theories as proof of the damn ship but this is the opposite for taekookers. They actually don’t care about the facts. They don’t care about what the boys have to say or what has actually happened all these years. They only care about their own interpretation of the boys actions and words.

You wouldn’t hear them bringing up tangible reasons as to why they think their ship is real. They will bring up reasons like the fact that taekook wore the same shirt on the same day and same time even though they were in different continents💀. They will bring up things like hearing taekook’s voices in each other’s Lives and the only proof they have for this are the voices in their heads.

I am one of those who believes that Jikook sometimes hide in each other’s Lives but i don’t believe this just because i see them look to a certain direction for 3 seconds or because i hear a random sound. My belief is backed up by the fact that we literally have evidence which has been consistent for over a decade which points to the fact that Jimin and Jk are the two who spend the most of their nigts together. I didn’t come to this conclusion by imagining that they do, i came to this conclusion because they have literally told us this so many damn times. So if i hear a voice or feel like someone else is in Jimin or Jk’s room at some odd hour, i am more inclined to think it is Jimin or Jk rather than anyone else because those two have a history of being in each other’s rooms the most, you get? It is the same as, if someone has a reputation of being a theif, if something gets missing everyone will most likely look to them first before anyone else.

Another thing that is really weird to me about taekookers is how they blatantly ignore everything we have witnessed Jikook do for years and then they hype up taekook doing some of those things for a 6 months period. This entire fandom has seen Jikook arrive and leave so many places together for years with or without tae present. We know that Jk has hung out with Jimin and his friends for years. Infact we saw Jk with Jm’s friends way b4 anyone ever dreamed of Jk hanging out with Tae’s wooga but when Jk did all these things with Jimin, it didn’t matter and it meant nothing but now, some of them consider it irrefutable proof that taekook is real because Taekook arrived and left a concert together ONCE in 10 years and because for the first time in a decade, Jk was seen hanging out with Tae and his friends for a period of time. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

Do you remember those days when taekookers used to swear that Jikook hanging out alot outside of work was proof that they weren’t real because according to them, no closeted couple in a homophobic country will expose themselves so much? Remember when JM and Jk sharing cars was fanservice? Remember how they downplayed Jk’s lives about JM in chapter two because it was “official content” but were praying Jk did the same for tae and when that didn’t happen, they switched their narrative to “Jk was forced” or “Jm needed promotion while tae didn’t”. I honestly don’t understand how they even make sense to themselves. Ask them why they think Jk and tae are a couple when there is literally evidence Jk spending birthdays and couple holidays with Jimin and not seeing Tae some times at all and they tell you, Jk and tae have to protect themselves by lying that they don’t. So you mean to tell me that Jk and Tae don’t feel the need to “protect” themselves when they are attending premiers or when tae is namedropping Jk 1783787 times or when Tae is coming to announce that Jk sings him a song but they only feel the need to “protect” themselves when it comes to admitting that they go to greet each other on birthdays?

You see that their entire premise of belief in their ship is making other people the villains in taekook’s lives. The big bad company who constantly separates the boys in camera, constantly forces Jk to do fanservice with Jimin, constantly cuts their moments, Jimin who constantly forces himself on Jk, who doesn’t respect his friends relationships, Jk who is lilly livered and cannot stand up and say no to the money hungry company, Jk who sometimes hurts tae by playing along with the “fanservice” and poor tae tae who has to sit there and take all of this. Poor tae tae who has a terrible soulmate and a boyfriend who cannot fight for him. He is the real victim in all of this. I honestly don’t know how they don’t see how incredibly stupid they sound.

Sorry for the rant.

It Always Resurfaces

Plot: you found ellie cheating at a party and a month later you see her again

i don’t care, i don’t care

The blaring lights of the party you were at made your head start to hurt. Not to mention all the people crowding around, the heat from the dozens of bodies moving across the room.

Ellie had said she was going to get a drink, 15 minutes ago. She must have gotten lost because it couldn’t have taken that long.

You awkwardly stumble in between all the people, making your way to the kitchen. It was less busy but there were still groups of friends standing around. A bad feeling already settled down in your stomach, almost as if your gut was telling you to turn around and leave immediately.

Just as you step in, you see Ellie standing with a girl, a smile plastered on her face. Their conversation is muffled but you make out most of it.

“I mean, I was just looking for a drink but I think I found something better.”

She places a hand on the girl’s waist, pulling her closer. They stare at each other for a while, everything pausing.

She wouldn’t.

The girl reaches upwards, wrapping her arms around Ellie’s neck and kissing her, you nearly fall backwards, the weight of the world seeming to crush you.

You have to stop yourself from letting out a gut-wrenching sob, deep in your soul. How could she? What the fuck happened in fifteen minutes to make her forget about you so quickly?

Before you realise what you’re doing, you find yourself walking out of the party, trying to get away from everything. It was the middle of August but somehow you were so cold, desperately trying to calm yourself down.

You called an Uber, not bothering to leave a message about why you were leaving. Out of all of the things Ellie could do, cheating on you was the last thing you could’ve thought.

She couldn’t even be bothered to hide it, blatantly kissing someone in the middle of a party you were at. It all seemed fake. You just willed yourself to wake up and find out that this was just some sick joke.

No matter what you did, the scene played through in your mind, a never-ending loop.

I think I found something better.

It had been four weeks since the party. The first few days went quickly, you didn’t think of her much, mainly at night when it was colder and lonely. But like many things, you had to push through it. You couldn’t let her dictate everything in your life.

After a week you started to think more. How long would it be until you talked again? No, you couldn’t fail so easily. You had to show restraint.

Evenings had become the worst time, being alone with just your thoughts and a very depressing music taste with only songs about being heartbroken and left behind. Not even your favourite shows could distract you. Everything reminded you of her, every shade of green like her eyes, sarcastic jokes making you remember the same ones she made.

Ellie wasn’t holding up well either, going to any and every party she was invited to in hopes of seeing you but ultimately being disappointed when you didn’t show up and ending the night with a temporary fling, trying to fill the hole you left. Nothing worked. It was only until her friends reminded her that you had left that she realised.

They explained to her that you had seen them and that you needed a break.

It became useless to leave her apartment anymore. She didn’t eat, didn’t sleep. Not that she wanted to. She was just—there.

Dina had noticed Ellie’s lack of enthusiasm and started dragging her outside whenever she could, making sure that she was taking care of herself and being healthy. Other than you, Dina was the only person who took an interest in Ellie and eventually they saw eye-to-eye. It was gradual but the feelings were mutual, both of them having similar interests.

You started seeing other people too, none of them making you feel the same way, however. It was enough to rely on but you weren’t committed. Maybe some of Ellie’s traits were rubbing off of you.

“You okay?”

You’re caught off guard by the person accompanying you. She was a sufficient person, kind, and caring, but she cared a little too much.

It really didn’t make sense how you were annoyed at her checking up on you but cried when Ellie would leave for days at a time. Hell, you had even forgotten her name.

“Hm? Oh, yeah, I’m fine.” You pick up a pack of grapes instinctively without realising that Ellie was the one who ate them when you bought them.

“Are you sure? You’ve been acting weird all day.” She comes up to you, placing a hand on your shoulder.

“I’m fine,” you snap, leaving the basket and walking to another aisle.

Did she deserve that? No, not at all but a month had been the longest you’ve gone without seeing Ellie. Before that, it was 3 days, mainly because the urge to fuck someone became too annoying to ignore.

You angrily walk up and down the dairy aisle, thinking about everything. Did she not want you anymore? Surely a month was enough time to heal and forget everything? If you guys were going to get back together it would have happened a while ago. Maybe this was it?

As if she knew you were thinking about her, she turns down the aisle, stopping when she sees you. You can see her contemplate whether or not turning around would be a good idea but she takes a deep breath, inching closer.

She looked the same, her shoulders slightly slumped when she came towards you. What did she have to say now?

“Hey.”

“Hi.”

That was it. After a month of not seeing each other that’s all you had to say.

“How are you?” She asks, breaking the silence and sticking her hands in the pockets of her hoodie.

“I’m good, you?”

She just nods, “I’m fine as well.”

You both stand awkwardly, the freezing temperature of the fridges finally hitting you. Another person walks behind El.

“I was thinking about making pasta tonight. How does that sound?”

Ellie looks up at you before turning back, “That sounds great, um, this is y/n, Dina.”

Dina? Did she find someone else so quickly? How could she do that? It wasn’t even the girl at the party.

“Oh cool, how’d you know Ellie?”

“We were friends a while ago,” you say, holding your arms to your chest, withholding the truth. It was clearly not a good idea to spill all the messy details of your semi-relationship.

You say goodbye and walk away as fast as you could, tears trying to force out of your eyes. God, you were so stupid. Of course, she found someone else. Did you expect her to wait years? It was over now.

You wanted to feel relieved, happy that you could move on now but all you felt was pain, deep down in your soul, past your heart.

“I’m outside.”

You walk past your “partner”, telling her that you would wait in the parking lot, away from anyone. It was all too much. How could everything change in a matter of seconds like that?

Sitting on the edge of the pavement, you think about the first time you met Ellie. It was a party, one of your friend’s birthdays or something. She spotted you by yourself, standing in a corner after you caught your girlfriend cheating, again. It didn’t take much for you to go back to her apartment and spend the night and eventually, it became regular.

It was almost funny how you got cheated on twice, like history repeating itself. When it happened the first time you promised yourself that it wouldn't happen again but you got played.

Ellie didn’t make it feel meaningless, she cared. But she never showed it, the most affection she displayed was kissing your neck or hand and that was it.

When she walks out of the grocery store you see her place a hand on Dina’s face, bringing her lips close and actually kissing her. Properly. It nearly made you sob. The way she closed her eyes and helped with bags. Why couldn’t she do that with you?

They walk up to their car before El looks back at you and tells Dina to wait. Walking considerably slowly, she stands in front of you.

“So, what are you doing now?”

“It’s only been a month, El, nothing has changed.”

She sits down, still keeping a few inches between the two of you. “You don’t look okay.”

“How can you tell? You were never around to care about me.”

Humming in agreement, she sighs, going silent for a while. The silence isn’t comforting or uneasy, it was just silence. No one said anything. After about three minutes, she stands up again, not looking at you.

“I hope you know that I didn’t mean for it to end like that.”

You nod, trying to get her to make eye contact but it doesn’t happen. She didn’t mean for it to end like that. It? So she was aware of the way things ended but chose to say nothing.

You couldn’t stand even if you wanted to, it hurt too much. From their car you see Dina point towards you and Ellie shakes her head. She then responds by basically making out with her, basically having a front-row view, seeing everything through the windshield.

“Hey, I was looking for you, are you sure you’re okay?” The girl you were with comes out, holding a few bags.

“It’s over, I can’t even remember your fucking name let alone why I even agreed to be with you.”

You walk off before you can see her reaction. It felt bad, of course, but it was true.

Ellie remembered drinking herself to sleep when you weren’t there. The drowning in her chest, the look on your face when you closed the door after getting your stuff from her apartment, tattooed on her eyelids, a constant reminder of the hurt she caused.

Look, I personally lose nothing if Lokius doesn’t become explicit canon. And if that were to become the case, I’d also have no regrets for saying for years that that would happen in the show by the end ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve said it before, but by now it would be Disney/Marvel’s loss, NOT mine. Whoever wasted or limited the potential would be the idiot, not me.

I’m simply never gonna feel crazy for noticing what’s happening in a story or silly for daring to hope it’ll be brought to fully satisfying narrative completion. That's just a me thing. Maybe this is because at heart I’m stubborn! But I’d like to think I’m not unreasonable. I can’t control whether writing stays consistent or censorship is overcome... But I just do my best to construct solid arguments, and as long as those arguments remain solid, I stand by them :)

I know not everyone would say the same, or they consider this to be "hope" or "optimism," but I see it as logic based in noticing what the text of a show/story is doing. And personally I also consider blatantly evident subtext to be "canon enough," so if we get my personal minimum, my happiness may still outweigh any potential disappointment for me.

However. Here's what I've come here to say today, in reaction to things I've seen floating around in the fandom:

While I do understand on some level why people worry that Lokius won’t be more explicitly canonically romantic because it could be censored by Disney.... At this point, I don’t understand how people can think Loki/Sylvie will still happen.

As of right now, there’s no way to argue for that in my opinion. (I'd like to see someone try.)

The show has set up a fun but very simple situation from basically the start:

They made romantic love a point of relevance in the show’s story. More specifically, they pointed out Loki's desire for a "real" romantic love, and had him learn the lesson that he doesn't deserve to be alone. They didn't HAVE to do all of those things and tie them together. They CHOSE to make romantic love relevant – and they have actively continued to choose to do that, to the point of including a mirrored dark love triangle in s2 ep3. That narrative thread simply has to be fulfilled.

So if they deliberately established that Loki wants and needs a “real” love, and his relationship with Sylvie was referred to as "fiction" so she cannot be a real love for him.... Who does it have to be?

Obviously it has to be Mobius. And of course, the whole show points to Lokius also, for countless more reasons than just this simple breakdown. But pointing this element out is the simplest argument one can make.

So either...

1. They take Lokius to full narrative completion with explicit canon, as they should and as I expect them to,

or

2. Loki's desire for a real love is left unfulfilled, open-ended, and/or made clear through subtext that it's Mobius.

Those are the options, if you ask me!

This is aside from how Lokius’ love story is now even at the core of the show’s themes and plot, which is an insanely strong vote in favor for their future canonicity.

But for the purposes of this post, I’m talking about whether we'll get explicit romance specifically, like a love confession or a kiss – and I do actually genuinely think we'll get both of those things. I'm not trying to force you to agree with me, but just to be clear, that's where I'm at with it and have been since 2021 lol.

So in regards to worrying about Loki/Sylvie...

They were never really a romance (yes, even in season 1) and they sure as hell aren't now. I can’t imagine they'll become one even IF Lokius is left subtextual.

So what actually remains to be seen is if the writers got to go all the way with Lokius, or if that central queer love story was censored on some level in the end.

My hot take is no one should be ~worrying~ about Sylki at this stage of the game. Free yourselves, people.

If the story starts abruptly going in a Sylki direction, even with only 3 episodes left, I will certainly be the first to say so lol. But I simply sincerely, truly doubt that'll happen.

(Hot take in the footer: this is not the post to get into this at length, but in case this comes up… In this house we do not use the word "queerbaiting." Boyfriend Jake who you have giggle fits after just glancing at each other from across the room due to the same braincell activating, or giggle fits at 3am and both of you trying to shush the other saying you're too loud and proceeding to laugh harder.

Boyfriend Jake that bites his lip as he looks you up and down before going out to an event, absolute stars in his eyes. Stumbling as he utters out how amazing you look, his eyes showing how they're both wholesome and very much not wholesome thoughts going through his head right now, but instead of trying to speak he just picks your hand and maybe kisses it before intertwining your fingers, with a wide grin on his face knowing your his.

Boyfriend Jake that will go out of his way to bug you or mess with you because he thinks it's cute when you whine at him or get upset. Only if you seem like your on the edge will he chuckle and kiss your cheek saying woops, or otherwise hugging you tightly with a 'I'm sorry baby~^^'. He has a shit eating grin when he's messing with you too. And he will happily say 'alright I'll stop [blank] if you kiss me?'

Boyfriend Jake that sees you shaking your leg, biting at your nails or lip, picking skin, or literally any nervous type of tic you may have, and he gently places his hand wherever he sees fit (on your leg or in your hand or on your cheek) either leaving it at that to calm you down or he asks you if you're okay, or need anything.

Boyfriend Jake laughing when you don't know something but patiently going through the topic so you understand it and is so attentive to your questions and won't stop till you're certain you got it or are comfortable.

Boyfriend Jake who sets up the most Netflix romcoms esc dates. Having a date in the back of a truck or in the boot of the car where he hung up fairy lights and messily threw some blankets, saying he ordered some food but for now he brought snacks (chocolate strawberries or smth). Candle lit dinners or baths. Dancing in the living room after watching a silly movie. A beach date where he definitely accidently got sand in a sandwich. (no pun intended).

Boyfriend Jake who's laugh is so boyish it transports you back to the free feeling of being a kid and brings you the most bursting joy in your chest. Bring out the child in you because you're able to feel so safe around him.

Boyfriend Jake accidently forgetting an important date but has the most heartfelt ways of apologising or making up for it, not stopping until you're alright again. Proceeds to label ever date for the foreseeable future afterwards too.

Boyfriend Jake who stares at you intently at events or parties, blatantly undressing you and losing interest in the conversation he's currently in. Not bothering to excuse himself from the conversation with a friend (probably receiving an eye roll from the other person) only going straight to you and wrapping his arm around your waist and even in front of people would with no shame be 'hi (any pet name he feels like or nickname), did you know you look dazzling tonight?' or something cheesy like that and even if you're in a convo he either asks to steal you away or if you're very occupied he'll lean his head down into you while he waits, or he'll back hug you, nuzzling his head in your neck, sometimes discreetly placing kisses on skin he has access to, maybe even a bite if he wants.

Boyfriend Jake who always tries his best to accommodate your friends and give off a good impression to anyone you trust to introduce him to. He will be doing his absolute most to show how well he's taking care of you and how you're in capable safe hands and he'd also show how he mutually leans on you.

Boyfriend Jake that would try and get to you as soon as he can if you call him after a nightmare or during a breakdown, fighting for his damn life to see you and be there for you. Will lose sleep if necessary.

Boyfriend Jake who remembers you saying you like a certain snack and buying it for when he next sees you if he can.

Boyfriend Jake who sometimes writes things down about you so he never forgets.

Boyfriend Jake who gets you matching charms or bracelets or rings... Literally anything.

Boyfriend Jake who if he has a lot of free time with you, will spend his time hugging and cuddling with you from behind regardless of what you're doing. If you're playing games, studying, working, cooking, literally anything. He's being a koala bear and just shoving his face in your neck, maybe even falls asleep but is just happy to hold you.

Boyfriend Jake who has you laying on his lap, and when you smile up at him, arrows hit his heart and he has a grin that hurts his cheeks just at the sight of you.

The thing about Hawke being champion of Kirkwall is... They have to be getting marriage proposals literally constantly. Some in person, but most in the mail, letters from families both in and out of Kirkwall asking for Hawke to marry either them or their heir. Hawke has never once given any of these families indication that they would WANT to marry into them, but that doesn’t stop them from trying

And if Hawke was involved with one of their companions, even married to them instead, these proposals wouldn’t stop. They’d be involved with/married to an elf, an apostate, an elven apostate, or a pirate, none of which nobility would consider “legitimate” matches.

So uh, here’s how I think Hawke’s potential LIs would respond to seeing one of these proposal letters

- Merrill insists on writing back to them herself, which Hawke is skeptical of, explaining that they don’t need to send back a response, the silence is a response in and of itself. But Merrill is very presistant “Oh, but ma vhenan it’s only polite. They took the time to write the letter, we should say something :)” and Hawke is finally like sure. What’s the harm. Go nuts. So she does! She spends hours dilegently replying to each one, and Hawke sends them out without looking at them cause they promised, y’know? Then... the letters start coming a bit more slowly, and then... not at all. Which Hawke doesn’t mind but they do wonder. They ask one day, and Merrill says she just thanked them for reaching out but that Hawke was not interested, and a “few other things.” She never said the nature of the “few other things.” One of the noble families fled their mansion in terror a week later.

- Anders burns the first one he finds, kind of impulsively, he finds himself being more annoyed that he’s being so blatantly ignored by these people than he would’ve expected. He’s a bit... embarrassed about it honestly. He somewhat sheepishly admits to Hawke he found a proposal letter and burnt it before Hawke could read it. Hawke is not annoyed by it like Anders is, Hawke is FURIOUS that Anders is being so disrespected by these rich bastards. FURIOUS. To the point that Anders has to be the one to calm them down. Anders is given free reign to burn any letters that come after, which is kind of a middle ground because Hawke wanted to go burn down their houses, so y’know. Compromises!

- Isabela straight up catfishes them. But Isabela knows how this “arranged marriages” business works, especially fancy noble arranged marriages, and that’s dowries. So, so many dowries. She scams at least twelve noble families out of hundreds of sovereigns. No. Hawke has no idea. They don’t find out until there’s almost a diplomatic incident between Kirkwall and some Orlesian family cause they sent a dowry of 800 sovereigns and Hawke never showed up to the wedding and they were sending threats. Only then does Isabela fess up. Hawke thinks this is hilarious but also doesn’t want to fight off Orlais clown assassins forever and asks Isabela to stop. Varric is so impressed by how well Isabela writes as Hawke he asks her to help on his book.

- Fenris... doesn’t care. Like. I’ve been sitting here thinking of some sort of funny story but there is just not a reality where Fenris cares. What? You think he feels threatened by Lord Tantervale Chantryman sending a betrothal letter to Hawke? No, if anything he uses them to practice reading because they’re wonderfully entertaining. Hawke hears muffled laughter from the library one day and finds Fenris reading a betrothal letter with a Starkhaven seal on it and they just... keep walking.

feels like in a lot of Viv's responses that she's treating people criticizing the portrayal of SA in Hazbin = people criticizing Raph for the art made on a personal acc.

but it's not the same thing. some will take issue with Raph's art, sure, (and so what if they do?) but ultimately the bigger problem is how it is portrayed in the show. calling it a 'preference' or 'not illegal' or 'none of anyone's business' or w/e is not the point - the point is, did Viv approve a sequence that blatantly objectifies Angel Dust when he's being assaulted?

it's so odd to see people defend this like they would fanfiction - 'it's OK to explore dark themes!', 'don't censor art!' etc. Fanfiction is made for a niche audience and sometimes as an expression of the creator working through a thing. Creators obviously should still have the ability to express themselves through art -sometimes the best art is partly autobiographical - but at the mainstream level you have to take more care with what you're doing because more people will see it! There's a world of difference between someone's clumsily written fic on A03 working through their trauma with a couple hundred kudos and a show on Amazon's streaming platform. not to mention there is a tagging system on a03 so the buyer can beware - if there's truly no CW on Hazbin then it means they're taking less care with triggering material than a literal not for profit fanfiction website

It's not like mainstream media that had indie roots should be exempt from this - all kinds of media are subject to thinkpieces about how they portray SA and survivors of SA, because how you represent it matters. there are so many pernicious myths around SA and survivors, creators who have the power of a platform also have the responsibility to think about what they're doing (same with any sufficiently big indie project, tbh, look at the sheer number of bad takes surrounding why Blitzo and not Stolas is totally in the wrong in the whole Stol/tz mess HB has become)

and at the very least, showrunners need the ability to understand criticism will come if people feel like they fumbled it. anyone should understand there will be a diversity of opinions on this; if a showrunner's only objective is 'be praised at all times' or 'never be criticized' then they should probably stay away from contentious topics all together?

the only fair thing I think Viv has said here is that the whole scene hasn't come out yet and to reserve judgement for then - but I think it's totally understandable why people think early indications are Not Good. the second thing is I think she mentioned no one should have to disclose whether they've been SA'd or not before working on a scene like Poision. Which is fair - but Raph did disclose that info, and voluntarily (and instead of saying it was no one's business, Viv either lied on their behalf or outed them to score a point. Is it bad to force people to disclose whether they've been SA'd or not, Viv, given you're apparently OK doing it to your staff?).

idk, I just think there should maybe be some oversight through due diligence on a sensitive subject, even for survivors of SA when working on scenes like this? or at least there should be if you're going to claim you care about the topic and are trying to push boundaries with your art. if you don't care, say as much.

It wouldn't be much better to see Viv admit she just wanted edgy dark stuff in her show, but man, it would at least be honest

It's all a mess, on Viv's side and the fandom's. Viv keeps saying that the scene will make everything clear and speak for itself, but if that were true, why couldn't she just let it do that?

The answer, of course, is because she's Viv. The slightest bit of criticism and she loses it.

Oh, Heizou was so dreamy to you.

When you first met him, he instantly had you wrapped around his pretty fingers. When you were with him, he seemed to play into the idea of you guys being together but just casually. He always rationalised it to you by explaining his job as a detective would put you at risk, and you were only friendly.

Well, to everyone but you. He gave you the occasional shoulder touches that made you feel like you were unofficially his.

Your friend kept telling you to stop falling for Heizou, saying she kept seeing him with the traveler. At first you didn't believe her, and you knew it wasn't true - rumours would have started by now surely?

Well, they weren't dating, that much was true, however he was blatantly flirting with them. He made much more of an effort to get close to them, to sweep them of their feet, and he started spending less time with you. He never came for his lunches, only occasionally deciding to join you if the traveler was busy. He rationalised that this was due to the traveler being busy.

Kujou Sara had enough of it. She compiled evidence, stacking up with reports of all the things they did together and somehow finding out tonight's date for the duo. She invites you to come along with her to eat, and you think nothing of it.

Seeing Heizou turning his charm onto the max for the traveler felt like a punch to the stomach. The traveler was, although blushing, saying they wouldn't be around for long, but Heizou only pushed on.

"See?" Kujou Sara whispers, you nodding as the words leave you. "You deserve to be someone's only option, not the safe one."

"You're right." You admit, shaking your head. "I feel like a fool. How did I not realise it sooner?"

"Love is a complicated thing." Your friend sighs out.

The traveler left Inazuma without even saying goodbye to Heizou, clearly not wooed at all by his flirty actions. Unlike you, they had enough confidence to know they shouldn't just settle for someone who was flirting with them.

It hurt Heizou, and as he was wallowing in his pity, he started to think about when he last saw his safe option. Now that he thought of it, you stopped trying to get his attention a good few weeks ago, and you were nowhere to be seen.

If he loved under a rock, he would have dared himself to ask your friend about your whereabouts. He knew your friend never approved of him dating you, he couldn't help but feel proud of himself when you insisted that he did love you. It seemed like she finally convinced you that he was using you as a fallback option, a last resort if something went wrong. He wanted to look for you, but he knew that Kujou Sara would no doubt do anything in her power to stop him.

All he could do was move on.

Pale Arc 10

So I gather that Pale has finished. In a way, this takes some timing pressure off of me: while I have not been liveblogging at a particularly speedy rate, I've been aware that more Pale kept being added faster than I was catching up. Now any time I read a chapter I'm actually catching up, as opposed to losing ground! I would love to say that I'll be picking up the pace from here on, but I said that last time and it was blatantly false, and also I think work will be busy for the next few weeks.

I've also been going back and archiving my liveblogs locally, just in case, which has reminded me how different my format was for the first arcs: I switched from end of chapter recaps to live reactions in early arc 4. No wonder I was going through chapters so quickly back then!

And I have a favor to ask if anyone wouldn't mind: I know there are stats floating around about Pale's length, but I'm worried about running into spoilers. Could someone let me know a) how many arcs there are b) what the total word count is and c) what the word count is as of where I am?

Housekeeping aside, thoughts on the arc:

Interesting structure, reminds me a bit of Worm's Sentinel arc

Really effective at building my knowledge of and engagement in the various new Kennet Others

Lots of reveals: Toadswallow's interlude blew my mind from a worldbuilding perspective, and Edith's unwrapped another layer of the mystery

Snowdrop and Avery! No thoughts, just feelings.

So now we know that Edith was for sure involved in the murder (which at this point was obvious, and has been pretty clear since the beginning). But then there's the immediate twist that she's not running it, or even seemingly part of the main group of this scheme. I do like this structure, where there's an obvious suspect from the beginning, it turns out to have been her, and it feels like a bit of a letdown, only for there to be another twist. I think a lot of mystery novels/tv shows do this probably? But on the scale of a single book/episode, not something as sprawling as Pale.

Actually, going back to those early arcs where I was doing a lot of theorizing, one of my guesses on how someone could arrange the Carmine Beast's death without having to reveal or lie about it was "There is an obvious killer, but they’re a fall guy acting on someone else’s behalf". Which it looks like it is! Edith is suspicious from the beginning, has no way around hiding her involvement while being honest and open, and the plan was probably for her to get caught from the start (I mean, maybe the real mastermind(s) didn't think the girls would get this far, but it does feel like Edith was expendable).

But now we're back to trying to figure out members of this conspiracy, knowing that Maricica is involved. There are three basic options for conspirators: 1) original Kennet Others 2) new Kennet Others (hid their involvement from the start and used recruitment to come in) and 3) people outside of Kennet.

I can't think of anyone outside of Kennet we've met who makes sense for that, so that idea might come down to "new character", which seems unsatisfying, so I'm going to skip theorizing about it.

Characters I don't think are involved: Tashlit, John, Alpeana, Toadswallow, Nibble and Chloe, Crooked Rook, Miss, Guilherme. We've seen inside almost all their heads, Edith and Maricica seem opposed to them in private conversation. Putting a caveat on Guilherme because Faerie.

Matthew could go either way, he's been involved with Edith's hostility but clearly doesn't know everything.

Charles is suspicious to me based on vibes and ability to lie, Bluntmunch seems to not be trusted by Toadswallow, Cig is working with Edith but it seems like a recent arrangement, Montague is very convenient to the conspirators but seems friendly, no idea about Lis, Ken, Jabber, or the new goblins.

I have a meta question! I'm not very good at comprehending stuff sometimes, so it might be a dumb question but alas. I'm ace, so it really bothers me not to know which is why I think you could help.

When Shax dresses up as hitchhiker and talks to Aziraphale on the way from Scottland, she says she's bemused as to why Crowley would risk destruction for him because "you don't seem his type at all". Does she mean judging by Crowley's looks and coolness and so on or does she mean Crowley had other lovers before and Azi doesn't fit in with them? The latter would bug me ngl, I'm the kind of romantic who even wants that kiss we saw to be the first kiss for both of them 😅 And then again Neil said that they can still be ace because the kiss was romantic but there is "no evidence for sexual relations" between Crow and Azi which then must include that of course there are also no hints that they've ever been involved with others...right? (I'm ace and I'm aware aces can have sexual relations if we want to but I think since Neil says they can be ace because there's no evidence of that, it means he includes those of our community repulsed by sex, too.)

I'd love if you could shed some light on the matter 😄

So first, to actually answer your question, I think Shax in the car is just trying to rattle Aziraphale, like she does later in the bookshop by calling him Crowley's emotional support angel—except the one in the car doesn't work because Aziraphale's not going to be made to feel too lame to be Crowley's type, pfft. He's confident by this point that he very much *is* Crowley's type, even if they haven't acknowledged it.

Secondly: IMO, one of the funnest things about shipping Aziraphale and Crowley is how versatile they are. The only thing for certain is they, against all odds, have become each other's most important person. What exactly that means is pretty open to interpretation. All that to say, if you think they're Ace or even Aro, absolutely rock on!

I have a great appreciation for how Neil keeps emphasizing that canon is only whatever's "on the page," (or on the screen, in this case), and whatever he or anyone else might say outside of that technically doesn't count. He and Terry wrote these characters, but ultimately, they aren't real people with a real tangible history. The gaps in canon are free real estate for the viewers to respond to and mentally fill in.

There seems to be nothing in canon that says either of them have kissed anyone before—or that they haven't. Sex is always going to be part of shipping culture in one way or another, but just because someone might interpret Shax's statement to mean that Crowley's had lovers before doesn't mean you're not just as free to believe that was their first kiss with anyone ever. Even if interpretations contradict, both are technically headcanon and can be equally valid until something in the show itself says otherwise. Have fun!

[Personally: I love Ace AC! It's actually my interpretation of canon. I'm also on team "neither had ever kissed anyone" because that just feels like it makes sense, both for their characters and frankly that's how it feels like David and Michael acted it (those two men know how to kiss, if they wanted it to feel like something other than 'desperately attempting something both of them had only seen before' they would have).

But reading fics where they're *not* that can be fun too, even if I personally don't think they were actually making out just offscreen this whole time. I've read and enjoyed fics I thought were blatantly out of character, but still told me a good story. And man, I will never forget feeling like an absolute king on AO3 in the months after I watched s1, putting in whatever combination of tags I was in the mood for and finding piles of gold.]

Did Jackie really love Shaunna or was her relationship with her based more on control/ownership, superiority?

right so outside of my inbox you're free to have whatever interpretation you want of this show and i'll just scroll and ignore it but you really came to My Inbox to bait me with that boring ass shit huh. for what reason. but anyways yeah let's talk about why that is blatantly untrue not only because it's contrary to the intention of literally every creator who spoke about it but also because of what we see on screen

so. you focused on jackie specifically. i somehow never see people (on here at least i don't ever leave this website it's scary out there) doubt shauna's love for jackie and that's been bothering me since like mid season 1 sooooo is it cause. let's face it. majority of tumblrinas were never a Popular Girl (no offense. i was not the popular girl either and very much more of a shauna - in terms of being in my bestie's shadow - in my own toxic best friendship)? like i have seen people vilifying jackie since i stepped my foot in this fandom over a year ago even when objectively she's one of the only characters who doesn't really do anything bad. even when the characters themselves confirm she wasn't a goddamn bitch like my god episode ONE of season one is them talking about wanting to freeze out a member and how jackie would be against it. but because people relate more to shauna and how she's in jackie's shadow there seems to be an urge to not give the same space to be messy and toxic (and still love!) to jackie that people give to shauna.

now am i saying that the way jackie loved shauna was Definitely Healthy or whatever? no. i think shauna was correct in a lot of what she said to jackie before jackie's death except that's it isn't it? shauna was never honest with jackie. the LOOK on jackie's face when shauna says some of those things? that girl didn't even have any idea that shauna doesn't like fucking soccer cause shauna never told her. and jackie is so visibly actually INSECURE. is it possible that feeling like the popular one next to shauna made her feel good? even if only on a subconscious level? duh. but what are you even trying to say here? that every scene where we see how much she cares for shauna (teasing her in ep one but then making sure shauna knows how much she means to her, bringing her valium for the flight because she Knows shauna and wanted to make this experience easier for her, giving her a good luck necklace to calm her nerves, sharing that food ration, immediately hugging shauna and wanting to support her when she first found out shauna was pregnant, fucking saving her from the plane at the expense of van etc) is all some act? cause that girl can't even fake being into sex with her boyfriend so we're still saying she puts a hell of a lot more effort into pretending to care for shauna. sure

There's something I don't understand... since the Collector (or one of his siblings) trapped the owl beast in the scroll, but couldn't the Collector remove Eda's (and by extension, Lilith's) curse and free the owl beast from her body since he's basically a young god? Even if they insist on treating the curse like a chronic illness, it wouldn't have hurt to mention it since it just seems like a plot hole.

So the only time this would matter would be in the epilogue. Otherwise, the Collector is never on Eda and Lilith's side and so doing a kindness of that sort for them wouldn't make sense. Maybe taking it away to depower them while the Collector is ruling the Isles but that's frankly more work than just turning them into a puppet. Should he have done it at the end? Eeeeh. I think the creators reasonably decided that Harpy Lilith would be a flashier way that more fans would want to see as a resolution to the curse than simply getting rid of it. It also allows those who see it as a disability or chronic illness to not just have a god whisk away those issues but instead see how these characters are thriving in spite of it. Not that I'm too happy with the allegory in the end with the Harpy forms, I'd rather be rid of my own disability frankly than pretend it's a superpower but *shrug*.

I wouldn't call this a plot hole though. Nothing is actively contradicting this point or is missing from the logic of the show's events to justify it as one. That's what causes plotholes after all. When something actively goes back on what it has shown or done or blatantly changes the rules of reality for what it wants to do. I would personally argue that TOH's biggest plotholes either go to A: Why the fuck was Belos able to make a portal out of a stone arch and Titan's Blood and LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE and it worked better somehow than the explicit instructions that he himself left on how to make a portal door? There's just a LOT of levels of bullshit and contradictions that we're never going to get an explanation for. B: "How do we stop this draining spell that kills people by feeding on their magic?" "I know! Let's mix it with a curse that turns people into monsters by feeding on and corrupting their magic!" And then everyone should have just stared at whoever offered that idea before immediately moving on with the meeting like nothing had happened and that person hadn't said anything. And yes, it's trying to play off of Eda's Requiem but in that, I never got the feeling of "This weakened the spell," I got the feeling of "OH! This made it so she has a disintegration spell!" because let's face it: Her and Raine's spell was not WEAKER than anything else Raine could do. Not if it was their only option to nullify, stop and then murder two coven heads who were actively trying to find them.

God this show's writing got stupid. Then again, in both cases you have plot holes that exist because, well... The show wrote itself in a corner. The show spent so much time on Belos' backstory and on Hunter and Lumity in S2 that they hadn't actually come up with a real way to stop The Day of Unity. Even if you do want to use Eda's Requiem as an excuse, they also have to retcon in that same scene the fact that Darius, Eber and Raine can't just sit out the ceremony anymore like they had previously established, making the one way they HAD established to beat it not matter anymore, even though Odalia could have just told Luz about an off screen raid that was happening on the CAT's hideout and effectively nothing changes except Eda doesn't lose an arm. The other is of course the portal. The portal not working immediately is a cool idea but one they don't explore AT ALL. And it presents the obvious problem of "Okay, what was the missing piece?" Yes, Belos theoretically knows that piece but even his Isles door looked like it needed a lot of extra elements to function and work properly that let you assume that what Luz had gotten before was a prototype door, not the real thing. But... Then it's literally just a stone archway and liberal application of Titan's Blood because Belos is a monster and can't have gotten the materials for a proper door anymore. What leads to these moments in both cases aren't bad ideas but they're also stepping away from the fantasy genre without knowing why the genre uses these tropes. Why can't you just remove one of the things necessary for the villain to win is a common problem for a lot of fantasy stories and most are just smart not to EVER BRING IT UP because of it. Magic working on the first try may not make sense but it means that there isn't further experimentation that's required, or the spell only works once before devouring itself or the like, a trope TOH even played into because suddenly the door required more Titan Blood every time it was opened and yet the key isn't fully drained after probably hundreds of years. It's all a part of that feeling of TOH wanting to be smarter than it's writers are. At least for this genre.
