#Doodles#UT#Handplates#Sans#Papyrus#Gaster#Sans closing his good eye every once in a while and keeping his blind eye open - obviously he does so in-game as well so it's a style-match#It's just interesting in the context of him being textually-confirmed blind in Handplates hehe#There's a level of vulnerability there! Not more than closing both eyes around someone - and potentially also distrust!#''I'm baring myself blind right now but /you/ don't need to know that'' - it suits him ♪#Especially when he does it around Papyrus! Because obviously Papyrus knows about his partial blindness#But when he's trying to be duplicitous - the way he looks at him sidelong with his blind eye when he's trying to lie unsuccessfully ugh <3#And again-again it being about how much he trusts Papyrus! That he can be a little lazy or spacey and Papyrus will help him!#Also something about his entire right side being impaired - pawing around with his plated hand for something he can't see on that side#The dynamics! Internal and external! Very good like them lots#And then there's Gaster lol ♪ Throw him into the mix I'm sure it won't make a mess at all haha#I guess he's visiting? Just spacing out - he and Sans have a lot on their minds - separately haha#I do love how Sans pushes Gaster to be kind to Papyrus - very deservedly! He wants Papyrus to be happy of course#And he's obviously still angry with Gaster a lot but how might that present itself when Papyrus is Papyrus at Gaster hehe#Even just in that small jokey way of ''you tryin' to step on my turf?'' hehehe#Especially since the comparison wouldn't even come up if he had two functioning eyes hm?? Right Gaster???? Lol#Speaking of that scene and Sans' partial blindness tho ughhughuhg <3 <3 The fact that Sans stands with Gaster to his blind side#It's the vulnerability/distaste/confidence of it all! He's grown up so much it's all right there in how he holds himself#That he either trusts Gaster enough not to attack him - starting to believe him - or that he has enough faith in himself to protect himself#And only looking at him with his peripherals unless he looks directly at him hghhhgh I am Normal about shot composition I swear lol#Also I like how that last panel turned out lol - Sans just appears at the bottom of the steps like how's it going. care to gtfo thx

BNHA 390 - Shoto Todoroki: Rising - Thoughts
I'm super-late with this, but the chapter dropped in the middle of my work month from hell. In the end, it was also lucky, because I was too busy to read the fandom reactions / discourse and got the space to process it alone.
I have to say that naysayers calling it "dragging" (when in reality, the whole thing is 3 tiny chapters) or "rushed" are both wrong. I think HK wrote exactly what he wanted to write, but whatever it was, it was never going to satisfy everyone.
It's enough to look at the Chapter number and title to know how much he cares:
190 - His Start (Endeavor's triumph)
290- Dabi's Dance (Dabi's big moment)
390 - Shoto Todoroki: Rising - it's finally Shoto's moment to shine.
But not only that:
Ch 39 - Shoto Todoroki: Origin
Ch 390 - Shoto Todoroki: Rising
Also, 39 can be read as "3-San 9-Kyyu" -> Thank You and chapter 390 will be included in Vol 39 - the "Thank you" volume.
Add to that the first words spoken by Shouto in his Rising chapter, and guess what... It is:
Tumblr media
"Thank you, Iida."
Speaking of Iida, in advance I really didn't see him being a part of the Todoroki showdown, but in hindsight it makes a lot of sense. Iida is the first ally Shouto made by saving him and inspiring him, they had great foiling around their families since their start. Plus, Iida being there is like all of Class A being there - he's the president after all.
And not only that - Iida who was introduced as diligently kicking down robots for entrance exam points, even though in his heart he knew what the right thing to do was grew into the person he wanted to be, also thanks to Shouto. Someone who will put supporting his friend both emotionally and in practical ways first, use his speed to save people without hesitation and through this making a huge impact.
Their combo breaks the sound barrier - a feat that's really reaching the OFA realm is almost an afterthought - but that's not point, it's just the HOW they get to do what's right. Tsukauchi also gives a little nod to All Might - reminding us that he's behind this - putting his faith in Shouto and Iida - his students - that they can do this.
Tumblr media
The way Shouto goes flying (probably carried by the momentum), as Iida yells his parting words - for Shouto to become who he wants to be - reminds me of a cat landing on his feet.
Tumblr media
I love this sequence of Shouto hitting the ground and then taking that step that's so big that it doesn't even fit in the panel. It's far from his first step - he's been taking them again and again since his first visit to Rei. And despite all the hurt, disappointment, let-down - Shouto is not giving up on his family.
I think a lot of people loved Shouto's letter to Rei. It's endearing in its clumsy awkward way. As a quick reminder, Shouto started to write these letters after he failed the Licensing Exam and couldn't visit Rei, because his weekends were taken up with the remedial classes. It's the time when his unprocessed trauma prevents him from being a hero - even though almost everyone else passes.
The letter clearly shows that Shouto understands that him failing the exam has nothing to do with his fighting ability and everything to do with his lacking communication skills, so he's determined to improve. It's also the period where he has to step out of the safety net that Midoriya and Iida gave him, as he spends a lot of time with Bakugou.
Tumblr media
And it's interesting that after Ch 352 focuses a lot on Class A as a source of reassurance for Shouto, his rising chapter focuses on how he learns healthy conflict. Because when it comes down to it, in the Todoroki family every conflict is either shut down (like separating the kids), or is blown out of proportion, like Enji abusing Rei.
But Shouto grows from the conflicts - he learns that these can help clear the air and be the source of positive change. Bakugou is prominently featured in these memories, reminding us how much both Shouto and him learnt about these clashes and how they came to understand each other better (which furthered both of their storylines).
Shouto wants to be like his friends - caring, outward looking, able to feel empathy and righteous anger.
Tumblr media
Notice also the way the speech bubbles are placed. Who he wants to be above Rei, Fuyumi and Natsuo. And the "not easy, but I'm trying" above Endeavor and Touya as a tie-back to how being "Endeavor's son, Dabi's brother" impacts how people perceive Shouto.
And the way he runs - so desperate, giving it his all - ties back to all the times he was late before.
When Shouto enters the battlefield, it's the first time the Todoroki family shares a panel since Touya attacked baby Shouto. The mismanagement of fire from that time resulted in this - Touya turning into a live nuke about to explode and take everyone with him - the whole family and the innocent by-standers alike.
Tumblr media
I already talked about Touya's POV - but it's worth mentioning that his line "It was so simple", circles back too to Shouto in the Stain arc.
It's difficult to see even the simple things when you yourself aren't seen. Shouto needed Midoriya to see him, to confront him, to call him out on his goals to realize that he gets to decide who he wants to be. And Touya needed his family to see him, to confront him also to be able to see Shouto not as some monster masterpiece, but as a crying little boy, fighting for his family.
And being finally able to see all of his family makes Touya realize he doesn't want to die yet, that there are things he still wants to say.
Tumblr media
I don't mind that Shouto uses Great Glacial Aegir again. It's the move he made to save Touya, and it's honestly a perfect culmination of Shouto arc. Also this Glacial Aegir is a completely different scale than the previous one - enough to stop a nuke. But again - this is not about
Having it in play both times shows that Shouto did his best the first time around too, but couldn't do it because they weren't together. Because Touya's Phosphor is the endpoint of all the hurt and rage and jealousy piling up and simmering inside Touya and Shouto's Phosphor is all the hard work of healing and reconciliation and processing trauma. In the end, the power of healing overcomes the power of rage, it lights a light within the fiery core of Touya's nuke.
Shouto brings relief to both his family and the people caught in blast range. His name is not chanted by civilians, I doubt if he was even recognized by anyone, other than his dedicated fanbase of 3 kids. But it's a start. And more importantly he's doing what he wants - bringing reassurance to others while still being there for his family.
Tumblr media
And just like in his Origin chapter, the mist lifts and Shouto is standing and I love this panel - such a good Shouto-like line.
Tumblr media
He's not making fancy speeches - that's not his style - it's all clumsy but sincere. He starts by acknowledging Rei, Natsuo and Fuyumi - how their intervention mattered (maybe their ice was needed - but even if it didn't, them showing up meant Endeavor couldn't go through his murder-suicide plan and they brought precious seconds for Shouto to arrive).
Tumblr media
Then Shouto addresses Touya framing this whole thing not as some ideological fight between villains and heroes, but a ridiculously powerful family fight between two brothers. And even as he's technically the winner, he acknowledges Touya's fire as exactly what Endeavor always wanted from Shouto.
Tumblr media
His last line is heartbreaking and heartfelt, gracious and cruel at the same time - as it's right above Endeavor. Knowing Shouto it's just blunt and factual. He's not Endeavor masterpiece. He didn't go the way his father wanted and became who he wanted to be. Someone whose power doesn't separate him from his family, but rather uses his power, his entire being to bring them together - so they can work out their issues.
And I love that this starts with Natsuo - who was a source of honest confrontation in the family - kind of ignoring Touya's ranting as he asks him "what now?". Because this was the comedown from the tantrum of the century. And it's true that Touya and Endeavor dragged the whole family into it. They are all in hell. But they are all together.
Tumblr media
And FINALLY - too late, Endeavor says what he should have / could have said back during the Touya reveal, or when they met again on the battlefield.
Tumblr media
It's so little, so inadequate, so late, but it still matters, as evidenced by Touya's hollow eyes coming back into focus. And Enji does something simple and fatherlike, as he drags himself over to Touya to warm him as he keeps freezing from the inside. So simple. Such a small thing.
Tumblr media
And finally the dam breaks loose and Touya can say what he wanted to say - express his hurt not via a nuke but verbal confrontation. And we see melting ice running down his face as the symbol of the tears he hasn't been able to shed for a decade, while Endeavor encourages him to let it all out.
Not healing yet - but anger - it's a necessary step in processing grief over what they could have had.
And Endeavor finally apologizes properly to everyone in the family - but when he gets to Shouto, he's at loss what to say either because Shouto is passing out or because where do you even start. Or maybe both. It's sad and it feels empty, and I think that's exactly how it's supposed to feel. Because getting to know all of the Todoroki family we know it didn't have to be this way - they all have capacity for goodness and they are all capable of caring for their family.
And in the end, Shouto, the family hero is still in the middle all alone - with no hugs or comfort, and not even a thanks - after he gave every last bit of himself to save the people who hurt him the most from the almost inevitable tragedy.
Tumblr media
It's not a dark ending, nor is it a happy ending. It's sad and raw and the damage is real; both in terms of Touya's and Enji's charred body, and also all the trauma that has been exposed during this confrontation. A big flashy move can only take you so far, the real work - clawing their way out of hell starts now.
But for the moment everyone is alive, and sometimes that's good enough.
I don't know if this is how it ends for Shouto - I don't think so. We've had lots of clues that him becoming the family hero is the hurdle he has to overcome to stand with his classmates.
I still think that in the end we'll get an ending with the whole class coming to Deku - a Class A ending. But for now, Shouto is out for the count and I'm sure it will be a long wait. So strap in.
In the end, I hope we will see him smile - if not in the endgame, maybe the epilogue. He deserves it.
His Rising chapter gave us a glimpse of who he's grown into, what his values are as a person and as a hero. And I think for everyone who was worried that Shouto's endgame would be an acceptance of Endeavor, it is clear now that he's on his own path deciding for himself his own priorities and way of doing things.
And the fact that he didn't break away is because that's who he decided to be. Touya's looping explosion showed that you can't just save the "good victims". You have to save everyone - the innocent bystanders (Fuyumi and Natsuo), the person who doesn't want to hurt others but is broken by her own victimhood (Rei), the victim who becomes a perpetrator (Touya) and the source of it all (Enji). And since the Todoroki family is a small reflection of hero society - this is what will happen also on the large scale.
I'm sure there are people who didn't like the chapter - it wasn't enough of a closure, it wasn't happy enough or sad enough, it felt like the apology was hollow - if these are the things you are feeling think about that likely that's what Horikoshi wanted you to feel.
The Todorokis are an incredibly messed up family with lots of deep running hurt, trauma, and this is their reality. It's messy and raw and sad. There is no neat way of resolving it all with an ultimate move, no matter how fancy or powerful. But they are alive and they are together.

Diabolik Lovers LOST EDEN ー Kou Maniac [02]
Tumblr media
CHAPTER MASTERLIST
ー The scene starts in the Ghouls’ manor
Yui: ( Kou-kun’s been lost in thought an awful lot as of late... )
Kou: ...
Yui: Hey, Kou-kun. Why don’t we go pay Azusa-kun a visit?
He might feel lonely by himself after all...
Kou: Sure...
Yui: ...Kou-kun, can I hold your hand?
Kou: ...Sure...
*Rustle rustle*
Yui: ( ...Just as I thought, his mind is elsewhere, it seems. )
( I’d love to cheer him up somehow... )
Selection
→ Stroke his head (S)
Yui: ( Right. I suppose I could try stroking his head? )
( Okay, I’ll slowly move my hand closer... )
*Rustle rustle*
*Thud*
Yui: Kyah...
( He grabbed my hand before I could stroke his head...! )
Kou: ...What are you doing?
Yui: I-I was going to stroke your head...
Kou: ...Haah.
ー He steps back
Kou: Why? Don’t bother.
Yui: I’m sorry...
( I guess I ruined his mood... )
→ Tell a funny story (M)
Yui: ( Perhaps I should try telling a funny story? )
( If I get him to laugh, it should naturally lift his spirits, right...? )
Yui: Listen up, Kou-kun. Kino-kun told me this the other day but apparently Yuuri-san...
Kou: Hey.
Yui: Yes?
Kou: Can’t you tell that I’m not in the mood to listen to your stories right now?
Yui: I-I’m sorry...
( Perhaps I should have kept my mouth closed... )
Kou: ...Haah.
Yui: ( Uu...I have no idea how to interact with him... )
( However, he’s emotionally unstable right now. )
( I want to do whatever I can for him...Yet I can’t think of anything... )
...Haah.
ー She looks away
Kou: ...Yui. What are you looking at?
Yui: ...
Kou: Hey, Yui!
Yui: Ah, y-yes?
( I couldn’t react instantly because I was lost in thought... )
Kou: I asked you what you’re looking at.
Yui: Ah, sorry...
( I know I shouldn’t cause him extra distress by spacing out as well... )
*Rustle*
Kou: ...Why are you looking down? I’m right here. See...?
*Rustle*
Yui: Ah...
( He grasped my chin...I’m being forced to look at him. )
Kou: I wonder if it’d leave fingerprints on your cheeks if I were to press down?
But you can’t really blame me, can you? It’s your fault for getting distracted.
All you need to do is look at me, without letting your mind wander to unnecessary things...Nn...
*Smooch*
Kou: Nn...
Nnh...Nn...
Yui: Ah...
Kou: Nn...Nnh...
Yui: ( He’s sucking blood from my lip...! I-It hurts... )
Kou: ...Don’t close your eyes. Look at me...As I drink your blood...
Nn...Nguh...Nn...I told you, didn’t I?
Yui: Eh...?
Kou: All I need is for you to be by my side.
So even if I get lost in thought, you don’t need to do anything special.
But in return...Don’t take your eyes off me...Nnh...Nn...
Yui: Nn...
Kou: Look only...at me...
Yui: ( Kou-kun... )

Tojoctober Day 7 - Alliance
(Everything's in gray, waiting to be saved)
Alt title is from “The Answer”, the ending song to Astral Chain
Yagami takes a break to calm himself down. But it's in the most unexpected times that help arrives.
(slight spoiler warning for Lost Judgment, as this fic takes place in Chapter 8 of LJ, timeline wise.)
—-------------------
Yagami, whose head is spinning with way too many thoughts, finds himself grateful for the quiet time that he needed to kill. He had to go back to Seiryo High today, as Amasawa mentioned a couple of clubs were looking at progressing their tasks, and they still needed to look for the Professor. But with everything that had happened last night, Yagami just stares out at the waters of the city with a cigarette in his hand, trying desperately to get what he saw and experienced out of his head.
Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice breaks Yagami's daze.
"Wooooooah!"
Yagami looks toward his left, and sees a man absolutely gawking at him. What the hell?
"Uh, can I help you?"
The man seemingly registers his actions and sheepishly rubs the back of his neck.
"Oh, sorry, you just… you look so cool!"
He's certainly… enthusiastic. Yagami thinks, but isn’t going to deny a compliment.
"Oh! Thanks."
The two men stand a bit awkwardly, and Yagami takes the opportunity to size the other one up. Funnily enough, the man in front of him reminds Yagami of his partner. He looks slightly older than him, his hair is styled in a wild looking afro, and with the bright red suit and bat strapped to his back, he sticks out like a sore thumb.
Then again, now that Yagami's out of Kamurocho, he does too.
"Uh, sorry, I don't mean to pry, it just looks like you were a bit lost in thought."
Yagami doesn't know how he drew that conclusion. Wildly, he finds himself being honest. Maybe it's the resemblance to Kaito.
"Well, a bit, I guess…" Yagami hesitates, and decides Fuck it, what else can go wrong in these 24 hours? "Bit of a weird question, but are you familiar with the underground of the city?"
The man looks at Yagami with a strange expression. "Why? Are you on their bad side or something?"
"Yes and no? It's complicated.” Yagami lets out a sigh, “A lot's complicated right now." He puts his cigarette out, staring into the water. In the water’s reflection, he sees the man lean on the railing next to him.
"Yeah, I get that. It's like… you get way too much information all at once, and before you have the chance to process it, your whole world gets turned upside down, and you're left to pick up the pieces."
Yagami looks over, the other man's face in a solemn, yet soft expression. A flicker of understanding passes between the two of them.
Woah, this guy is perceptive.
"Right, to answer your question," the man clears his throat a bit, "Yeah, I know a couple people that work in that space. All nice people, honestly."
Yagami's eyes narrow slightly.
“Well, regardless of who you know, could you ask around for a handyman named Kuwana?”
"Kuwana?" The man looks slightly confused.
"Well, he may not even be Kuwana…? I'm not so sure. This group, if you've heard of RK," the man gives a nod of understanding, and Yagami continues, "they're looking for Kuwana, or whatever the hell they’re calling him, and I have a feeling something bad is gonna happen if they get their hands on him. My friends and I are just trying to get to him first, and maybe figure out why RK is after him."
The man looks like he's deep in thought. It's at this point that Yagami’s conscious thought catches up with his instinct.
Wait, why am I being so open with this guy? Did I really just tell him about Kuwana? This could be really b-
"Yeah, I can ask around. You seem like a decent guy, so I can also put a good word in for you with my friends, uh…"
Oh right, my name.
"Yagami. Takayuki Yagami. I'm a detective, visiting from Kamurocho."
"Yagami-san! I'm Ichiban Kasuga. I'm from Kamurocho too! Anyway, yeah, I'll ask around for you. Do you have an easy way to be contacted?"
"Yeah. I'm good friends with the people at Yokohama 99, and here's my card in case I'm not there." Yagami digs into his jacket and hands Kasuga one of his business cards. Kasuga flips the card around in his hand before placing it in his jacket.
"Neat! Look for a buzz from me, Yagami-san. See you around!"
With a turn and a wave, Kasuga walks away. Yagami gets lost in his own thoughts, as he watches the wild man wave enthusiastically at someone in the homeless camp.
Kasuga-san, huh? I'll have to keep him in mind. It's nice to know there are still good people around, despite their appearances. And despite… everything.
Yagami turns back to the slowly flowing waters of Ijincho, and he finds his mind has, thankfully, slowed down.

Yui’s friends
I've had a strong desire to write game scenarios based on Yui's life prior to meeting the Sakamaki brothers. I also didn’t name the friends since in the game the classmates or other characters are basically nameless and only letters such as A, B, C and so on are used to differentiate them. This was mostly inspired by an old post in which it was shown that Yui has never had true friends(sadly). Enjoy! <3
Yui: (Today is my first time going out with someone other than my father, therefore I'm definitely looking forward to it! I'm glad I was finally able to make some friends, these girls… They appear to be very nice!)
Friend A: Hello~! Earth to Yui-chan, are you there?
Friend B: Seems like someone is spacing out again, huh?
Yui: Eeh!? Ah..— I’m so sorry! Have you called me for a long time…?
Friend A: Don’t worry about that, shall we finally go now?
Friend B: We should if we still want to catch the mall open.
Place: Mall
Yui: Uwah… it’s so big !
Friend A: Fufu…haha..!
Yui: Eh? Why… Why are you laughing?
Friend A: N-Nothing, I just liked your reaction; it’s only a regular mall.
Friend B: Say Yui-san… you never went shopping before, did you?
Yui: T-That’s…— I did but the mall I visited with my father… it definitely was different from this one.
Friend B: I see… well, don’t you think this is your chance to find something nice to buy?
Yui: That could be the case. Although, I wouldn’t like to spend a lot of money.
Friend A: Eeh? Why not? Those are yours for a reason, no?
Yui: Uhm… not really. You see, my father gave me some money for today, I didn’t work for it, for this reason it’s not entirely mine.
Friend B: However, you should not pass up the opportunity to buy anything you want simply because of this. Don’t you think your father would be pleased if you bought something that made you happy?
Yui: Well, now that you’re phrasing it like that…
Friend A: Come on~ Look at that shop! The prices aren’t even that high, we should check it!
Timeskip
Friend A: Hoh… heavy…!
Yui: Do you need help?
Friend A: No, no, I’m fine. Anyway, what did you buy?
Yui: Me? Ah… I didn’t buy anything.
Friend A: Wah…——! N-Nothing at all!?
Yui: That’s correct. I thought the outfits were cute but something else actually caught my attention.
Friend A: Let me guess, it was a boy, right~?
Yui: W-Woah… that’s not it! I just thought the necklace over there looked really pretty…!
Friend A: And? What’s stopping you from buying it?
Yui: Hmm… I don’t think it’s very affordable.
Friend A: What a pity!
Friend B: Girls! The mall will close soon, we should really hurry up!
Friend A: But Yui-chan should buy something t—
Friend B: There’s no time for that anymore!
Place: Alleyway
Yui: Over there is a cotton candy shop, and it looks delicious!
Friend B: Really? Cotton candy? Are you perhaps still a child?
Yui: Eh… I can’t see what’s so bad about it. Cotton candy is for everyone!
Friend A: Didn’t know you had a sweet tooth fufu, but you should get one if you’re already drooling.
Yui: W-What…!?
Friend A: Just kidding~ Now go, go!
Timeskip
Yui: Yummy! Do you want some?
Friend B: No thanks, I’m not really a fan of sugary stuff.
Friend A: Look at the new purikura cabin!
Yui: Ah… Uhm… I actually got to go. I'm about to miss my curfew, and if I'm late, my father will be worried...
Friend B: Geez, it’s just a photo, it won’t take that long!
Yui: But… the queue is long! I really don’t want to be late and get scolded…!
Friend A: Scolded…? Your father still does that? But you’re not a child anymore, you know.
Yui: Yes but uhm… my father is rather protective hence he simply wants me to be safe.
Friend B: Fine, fine, you can leave. I'm going to stand in line.
Friend A: Hey Yui-chan… before you leave, I want to let you know that I’m sorry you couldn’t get that necklace.
Yui: Don’t worry about that. I’m simply happy I got the chance to hang out with both of you today. You see… it was actually my first time spending time with girls, for this reason this day already became very special to me.
Friend A: And it won’t be the last time, our friendship will just keep blooming more and more!
*flashback ends*
Place: Ryōtei Academy
Monologue
I couldn't help but feel caught in a confusing emotion
as I remembered those moments.
The once-blooming bond between us
disappeared without trace.
I had to come to an abrupt conclusion
that I could never have predicted.
The reply I was longing for
Was never received.

[Gakuen K] Kusanagi Izumo Route: Winter Break Plans Translation
*Translator’s note : MC’s name shall remain as my normal (水嶋ラン) *Gakuen K Masterlist / Gakuen K Mobile Masterlist *Spoiler FREE : Translations under cut !
Ran: (I’m glad I was able to maintain my test ranking, somehow…)
Ran: (But, rather than my test results, I’m actually much more worried about Kusanagi-san…)
Ran: (I haven’t managed to contact him ever since that day when he got mad… Anyway, I should hurry and meet up with him as soon as I can.)
Kukuri: What’s got you staring into space?
Ran: Uh, nothing! I was just thinking about some things.
Kukuri: Well, guess there’s nothing to do about that. I mean, the winter holiday’s right on the horizon!
Ran: (Right, it’s already the winter holidays…)
Ran: (Wait, is the club still running during the holidays? If it isn’t, then that means I’ll have lesser time with him…)
»» ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♔◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ««
Izumo: Oh, that was quick.
Ran: Kusanagi-san!
Izumo: Feels like it’s been a long time. If I’m not wrong, don't your results come out today? How was it?
Ran: It did! I managed to maintain my rankings, somehow.
Izumo:  I see. I’m glad to hear that it went well.
Ran: (He’s acting as per normal… That’s a relief.)
Izumo: So, I was plannin’ on goin’ out for a supply run. Want to come along?
Ran: Sure!
»» ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♔◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ««
Izumo: Now that the tests are over, I s’pose it’s goin’ to be the winter holidays now, right?
Ran: Um, does Club still run during holidays? Though… it’s kinda weird to be asking you since you’re alumni.
Izumo: It’s fine. It runs through the year. ‘Sides, it’s Totsuka’s fault for not tellin’ you ‘bout it.
Izumo: I still have to confirm the details with him, but there’s goin’ to be a Christmas party comin’ up.
Ran: I see. Christmas is coming soon… I’m looking forward to seeing what sort of party it’ll turn out to be!
Izumo: And, well… We might go shrine visiting for the New Year together. Maybe pound a mochi or somethin’.
Izumo: There’s this and that and a whole lotta’ stuff.
Ran: I see!
Ran: (...Which means I’ll actually be seeing him around a lot.)
Ran: (That makes me really happy!)
»» ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♔◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ««
Kusanagi: Okay. That should be the last of the stuff. It’s gettin’ dark so let’s get back.
Ran: (Somehow, I’m really nervous about asking him about his plans for the winter holidays…)
Ran: (And I feel like I won’t get the chance to ask him about it once we get back to the Clubroom. I should take the chance to do so now.)
Ran: Kusanagi-san, about the winter holidays…
⊳Choice: Do you have any plans?
Ran: Do you have any other plans other than the Club stuff?
Izumo: Hmm… Well, I guess, homework? There’s goin’ to be a larger influx of it.
Ran: Would it be hard for you to make time so that we can go somewhere together?
Izumo: Go somewhere together?
Ran: Yeah.
Izumo: …Yeah. It might be quite difficult for me to make time with all that homework.
MC: I see… I guess that’s that then…
⊳Choice: I want to go out with you too
Ran: Um, I want to go somewhere with you. Anywhere close by works too, so…
Izumo: With me? Alone…?
Ran: Yes. Can I?
Izumo: Yeah, of course… I would love to do nothin’ more, but there’s just been a load of homework lately…
Izumo: Sorry. I think it’ll be hard to do that until the homework’s cleared.
Ran: I see… Then, if you do manage to finish it…
Izumo: Oh, yikes! I forgot that I had somethin’ important to do. Sorry, but I’ll have to head back first.
Ran: Ah, Kusanagi-san!
Ran: (Kusanagi-san…)

Mikoto: …I made myself at home.
Izumo: Oh, Mikoto. Alone? Well, I s’pose the others are all broken up over their test results.
Izumo: Say, I’m closin’ up for the day. Fancy a drink together?
Mikoto: Sure. But… that’s rare, coming from you.
Izumo: I’m in the mood to drink in silence.
Izumo: (It’s fine now, isn’t it? Until the fledgeling chick turns into a swan… That was the promise.)
Izumo: (Time to end this; for her sake, no?)

tired tired tired tired tired
Requested an extra day off this week because my husband's best friend and his family are visiting from San Antonio. Usually we go see them, since they have more room to spare, but they decided to come out to the country and look at cows and trains I guess lol. It's an important visit though because it's likely the last time we will see them in person for many years; his friend moved up a rank and is being promoted but also moved because of it. This is my husband's ONLY friend, and he's terribly depressed about it. San Antonio was already pretty far for a visit, but he could end up virtually anywhere now. Anyway, Idk how we're going to host them all, we can barely host the kids when they visit. But my husband seems unconcerned. My problem is that I have it ingrained in my behavior to be welcoming and accommodating to guests and I'm going to feel like an asshole because I am physically and mentally exhausted, and our busiest pick up weekend is this weekend so I won't even be around most of their visit. I'm hoping to use the extra day off to clean the house as much as humanly possible and prepare it with some creature comforts for their stay. We just got rid of our couches and have no replacements (there are actual camping chairs in our tiny ass living room rn), and their poor kids have to sleep on cots. The least I can do is provide coffee and snacks lol. I'll have our only car at work all weekend so if they want to adventure out into town to look at racist antique shops (seriously I cannot even express how common it is to find straight up n*zi memorabilia in shops here), they're going to have to squeeze into his friend's small car together. Thank God we at least have AC and WIFI and a community pool lol. It's basically camping here. Hopefully at the very least the weather will turn out nice.
I felt so guilty about asking for an extra day off this week during our busiest time of year, I had a very active stress dream about having to sleep at work but still waking up late lol. Nevermind that I requested time during our slowest part of the week, and while I don't have to run the kitchen as well as support retail because the actual kitchen manager took a week and a half off for her own vacation knowing full well how insanely busy we are right now. At least I don't have a cake order on top of it all? For now. 🤞
I can't remember if I've mentioned it or not but the party order went well. We were, of course, crazy busy on Saturday, hosting a boy scout troop as well as the average nice weather weekend customers and tipsy meadery attendants. The meadery was so busy that there wasn't enough seating for everyone, and despite having planned this party for over two weeks and the fact that oh idk the meadery is on farm property so like everything including the meadery is farm property and they don't get to veto farm activities for their own last minute needs, I got griped at by the meadery manager because she didn't know that there was a party reservation that had nothing to do with her and didn't take away any meadery space but instead took all of the cafe space but she was pissed that her shit wasn't my priority?? Ugh. I really do get it; we're all high stress and stretching ourselves thinner than dick skin to make ends meet and fulfill as much service as possible in these chaotic times, but I don't deserve to be humiliated in front of a customer because you're not handling the stress of your unexpected success very well.
But the party guest loved the cakes, and the lady even hugged me when she saw it lol. Felt very validating plus I've never been hugged by a customer before so that was sweet. I have to sit the kitchen manager and our owner down for a meeting and let them know that I am %100 down for fulfilling custom catering requests for guests, but only when it is actually doable and sustainable and if I can complete it in a sane and logical way. I had to spend a lot of my free time preparing for this order, and I was expecting to run the kitchen as well as support retail during a busy pick up season while balancing this experimental order on my nose like a circus seal. I need two actual full uninterrupted 8 hour shifts, back-to-back, to successfully do something like this. The farm is doing very well in all aspects this year; bee sales, agritourism, social media interest and interaction, etc. But that is sadly the problem. Our owners aren't willing to hire the help we need to provide the experiences we offer, so we're all trying to multiply our bodies and get five things done at once. For less than a livable wage lol. My husband is stressing bc politicians are trying to cut VA funding again, which could lead to us taking a serious financial hit which we may never recover from. So now every chance he gets, he's lecturing me about standing up for my rights as a worker and demanding better pay with better boundaries and I'm just like damn if I even manage to survive this season I doubt I'm going to jeopardize what little income I have and a job I actually care about for my personal rights nawattameen? There's just no winning here for me.
So anyway it's Monday again lol good luck I guess.

The Chariot
Tumblr media
The Chariot card is the seventh card in the Major Arcana of the tarot. The Chariot depicts a brave warrior standing inside a chariot. They wear armor decorated with crescent moons (which represent what is coming to fruition), a tunic with a square (symbolizing the strength of will), as well as other alchemical symbols (which indicate spiritual transformation). The laurel and star crown shown signal that the querent will achieve victory, success and spiritual evolution. Although the warrior appears to be driving the chariot, they actually hold no reins, only a wand similar to The Magician’s. This imagery symbolizes that the warrior has control through the strength of their will and mind. There is also signifigance in their stance, as it indicates that they will not back down in the face of conflict, they preserve and take action to move ahead in the face of conflict. You’ll also notice that above their head there is a canopy of six-pointed stars, symbolizing the warrior’s connection to the celestial world and the will of the Divine. In front of the chariot sits a black and a white sphinx, which signify the duality of life, as there are positive and negative forces that impact our lives. Take note of how the sphinxes move in opposite directions, but the warrior in the chariot uses their willpower to steer the chariot forward in the direction they want it to move in. You’ll also notice that behind the chariot, exists a flowing river. This teaches us the importance being ‘in flow’ with the pace of life without while still charging ahead in the right direction, towards one’s goals and aspirations.

Howdy y’all! Life is good round these parts. Different, but good. I moved. I’m living in the San Luis now, where I lived when I was 18. I’m not with my host family, but I’m less than a block away from them! I am so thankful that I get to live in a place so familiar at a moment in my life where it feels like everything is uncertain and changing.
The move was stressful. I wasn’t happy with my productivity in the days leading up to the move, but I tried to give myself grace. The night before I moved out, I journaled and reflected on my time living on the volcano. I thought about how much I’d miss looking out at the view off of the balcony. I was so lucky to get to watch multiple sunrises and sunsets as well as look up at the moon and the stars off of that balcony. I thought about how much I’d miss all the plants in the garden. I hope that one day I can have my own garden as vast and beautiful as that one. I thought about how much I’d miss Alex, his son, and his wife. It was so fun to play with with his kid, he was so adorable; I can’t wait to have a kid of my own one day. I thought about how much I’d miss Jack. Him and I really bonded, and I will miss his cuddles dearly (on the bright side, Alex said I could come back to visit him anytime I wanted). Hell, I even thought about how I’d miss my landlord—only a little bit though, that man has some crazy opinions, and I am glad to no longer be giving him my money.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, it was time for change. I felt like I was Rapunzel living there anyway. I was so far away from everyone and everything and I depended on delivery too much. In my new place, I feel a lot more like Belle? I don’t know what kind of analogy I’m trying to make but Belle is my favorite princess, so I guess I feel more like myself here?
My space is smaller, but it has its charms. The water pressure is way better here. There’s a beautiful patio that I’ve enjoyed doing work out on. My desk here has a drawer, which has been so nice to be able to store sticky notes and pens in, off of my desk’s surface. There’s a pila—which is a washing sink basically—and I LOVE getting to use it to wash my dishes and clothes. I don’t know why, but I just do! Oh, and I’m way closer to my gym living here!
The family that owns this place are Catholics too. One of their sons is at a seminary school in the US to become a priest. Today I went to mass with the landlord. Today we celebrated Saint Joseph (San Jose), who happened to be the parish’s patron saint. There were fireworks, tamales, and a mariachi band which made mass a lot more entertaining to observe. I look forward to building a relationship with the members of the church she took me to. It’s in a middle class neighborhood and the data that I’ll gather from there will help me with my research greatly.
Speaking of my research, I’m changing things up. I met with my professor from Miami, Jacque, to discuss variables and incentives I’ll use in my study. I’m allowing myself to shift away from my original proposal and I’m switching to a case studies model. I figure this way I’ll be able to cast a wider web and gather stronger evidence that’ll benefit me in the long run. It’s scary to not follow a plan, but then again some of the best things in life come from things that don’t go according to plan.
I also look forward to meeting with Tizziana, the professor I work with at the UCA, to discuss next steps. With her background and perspective, I know that she’ll help lead me down the right path. I can’t see where I’ll end up exactly, but I know I’m headed exactly where I’m supposed to be.
I also wouldn’t have had the courage to allow myself to break from convention without others’ insight. I just felt so scared about changing things. I won my Fulbright because I said I was going to conduct my study the way I said I would in my proposal, so I felt like I couldn’t adapt it. But then again, because I was qualified to win this scholarship in the first place, I’m certainly qualified to make changes based off my own judgement for the betterment of my investigation. I’m really excited to press my foot on the gas and shift into high gear now that I’ve got things more figured out! I have a looooong to do list to get through!
Other than the move and my research, things have been going great! I love the gym/pool I joined! It has been so nice to work out again. And! Because the pool is outdoors, I get a tan while I swim laps! It’s so nice.
Tumblr media
Breakfast with my contact on Thursday was phenomenal too, they connected me to this Catholic nonprofit, FUNDAHMER. One of their sister parishes that they work with is based in Cincinnati and I’m going to get connected to the Cincinnati and the Salvadoran parishes for my study! I also bought one of the books that my contact’s uncle wrote on Romero. I’ve only skimmed so far but I can’t wait to lounge around in the library with a cup of coffee and really dig into it! After our time together wrapped up, I stopped by the UCA and got a little bit of work done outside. I also went to the theology departments library and looked over some texts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On Friday, I was helping out Evelyn with a youth delegation from Kansas City. It was nice to see some familiar faces too, because some of the adults on the trip came on the last delegation I helped Evelyn out with. We went to Cuscatlán Park and then headed to the UCA. I read some of my Salvadoran legends book to them on the bus, and they loved hearing about Cipitío. When we were at the Monseñor Romero Center, I found out that one of the UCA Jesuit martyrs swam laps and that another had a cassette tape from a band that I like? I decided that I’m going to pay special attention to them because of that stuff. I can’t wait to see what else I’ll learn about them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last weekend was super fun too. After Evelyn and I got done working with the delegation, we had a girls night in and it was so nice to chat and munch on some spinach artichoke dip that I made for us. Saturday night also was full of great conversation. And on Sunday I did my interview with my landlord! He was a lot more restrained in sharing his opinions when the recorder was rolling but it is what it is.
This past week all I really did was go to the gym, pack, and move. But, on Wednesday, Evelyn and I hosted a webinar on Beatriz's case which is going to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights this coming week. For more information on Beatriz and her case check out the video I've linked below and scan the QR code I've included to be directed to a site with more information.

This weekend has been awesome too. On St. Paddy’s day, Evelyn and I went and got Colombian food and then we hit the salon. I got a manicure, and she got a haircut. We met up with Joel at Leyenda’s and I had such a good panini. It was with ham and cheese and I asked them to put pineapple on it. It was like a Hawaiian pizza but a sandwich. I dipped it in ranch too. So good. On Saturday I just kind of chilled out. I played with the grandchild of the landlord. We fed his pet turtles lettuce and broccoli and painted their shells. I got out of the house for a bit to do some work at a café and then I came back and watched Succession and ate Chinese food. Other than going to mass with my landlord today, Evelyn and I grabbed lunch and caught up and we edited my survey a bit. We went to this restaurant that had a bunch of plants and it was so nice! A great weekend overall. I’m so excited for all that is to come this next week and even further ahead!

Thanks for following along. This’ll be the last time I end my posts with Jack for at least a while. Miss that dude. </3

ARB Birthday Special: Tomi Chōten
Tumblr media
~~ August 14th ~~
"It's all about the money."
Login Lines:
"This had better be a good use of my time. As you know, time is money, and I hate it when someone... what is this? A... gift? ...Is this some sort of pathetic attempt to win my favor? Because if so, you have..."
"My... birthday? ...Hino-san, fire whoever it is that is supposed to remind me of important dates on my calendar. Obviously, they do not know how to do their job correctly. And as for you... normally I wouldn't be bothered to accept such a gift from a peasant, but since you have reminded me that today is the day of my birth, I shall reluctantly accept whatever it is you have bought me. Be grateful."
Voice Lines:
"Hmph, all these people giving me greetings and such just because it's my birthday. They should be doing that whenever I walk in front of them. ...Though I will admit, there is something special about people's smiles being genuine for once."
"And what is this now? Another present? Hmph, whoever sent it obviously doesn't know how to wrap a gift correctly. This thing is atrocious! It's a... teddy bear?! ...Who in their right mind would send me such a completely worthless and asinine gift such as this? The bear's smile has even been flipped upside down! Is this someone's idea of a joke?! Who sent this... it... it's from... well, looking at it now, I guess it's not too bad, I suppose. ...Thank you, brother."
"Karada, good to see you. Aren't you suppose to be heading to an appointment with one of your clients? Ah, you stopped by to wish me a happy birthday? Well, thank you. And what is this now? A... pen? Ah, I recall now. This is the pen that the famous inventor created, correct? Yes, I've been thinking about getting one of these. Thank you, Karada. I don't know when I'll ever use this, but I'll see if I can find a time to. Thank you."
"Luis, you actually bothered to step out of your shop to visit me on my birthday? Will wonders never cease? And you even got me a gift? I'd say I'm skeptical about what you could give me, but fine, let's see it. What is this, a... pocketknife? What could I possibly use... ah, I see. It's one of those tools that transforms into a pocketknife but has different functions. I keep fair track of all of my things, thank you. *Sighs* Fine, I'll accept this. But don't be surprised if you see it gathering dust somewhere in my house."
Karada Lines:
"Happy birthday, Tomi! Man, it feels like it's been years since we first met! I know it's actually been years, but man, it feels a lot longer! But I'm glad I could have shared some of those years with you, dude! Truthfully, they've all been awesome!
"But you didn't come here to listen to bring up old times! I say, focus on the future! And that's why I got you this, dude! It's one of those Space Pens that famous space inventor guy made! He originally made it for astronauts, but anyone can use it. It writes upside down, sideways, any way you want it to! You gotta promise you'll try it out, okay? Promise me!"
Luis Lines:
"Yeah, happy birthday, Tomi. Yes, I actually can get out of the restaurant, not that I would ever want to. ...Look, do not think that just because it's your birthday, that gives you free rein to insult whomever you please. I see now why you and wench from Shinagawa get along so well. But whatever.
"Here's your birthday present. It's not just a pocketknife. It's a Keyport Pivot. It functions as a pocketknife, a key holder, and a 'lost and found'. You can put it in there to keep track of stuff. And do not say you do not lose things. I can count on both hands how many times you've lost either your car keys or your credit card. ...Fine, whatever. I gave you a gift, it's up to you whether you use it or not. I've done my friendly duty for the day. I'm heading back. Seeya."

A Man Walks into a Bar
Part 1 of Renegade, a My Hero Academia fan-fiction.
Word Count: 6,202 Warnings: Mentions of trauma, PTSD, poverty and death Summary: Pro Hero Shouta Aizawa visits a bar in Deika City in search of answers, but instead finds a bittersweet reunion with an old face. Note: No romance, just platonic non-canon siblings.
The red-haired bartender heard the ringing of the bell just within the edges of earshot.
“I’ll be there in just a second!”
She was just thinking about closing up for the night when her latest customer came in through those doors. It had been a slow night so far—a couple of regulars came in but didn’t linger long, perhaps because of the off-putting atmosphere, the lack of boisterous laughter coming from some corner of the room, or just the sudden abundance of empty spaces in a place that was used to having every other table occupied, even on weekday nights. She had been tuning in to the news all day and hadn’t heard about anything particularly disconcerting—at least, not one that would affect her sales of tonight. Then again, a relative and rather surprising quietness in the streets also meant there weren’t a lot of people with baggage that needed to be lifted with the help of alcohol—her alcohol.
But it appeared that there was at least one other person who needed a little help tonight, and Ren was always more than happy to serve.
She finished cashing in the last of the change and loosened her ponytail as she pushed the office door open and headed back out to the bar.
“Welcome to Pluto,” she greeted, pushing a smile back to her face, then finished re-tying her ponytail before looking up to meet her customer. “What can I get you tonight, sir—”
Her hands froze midway to the top of her head as soon as her eyes fell on the ragged-looking man standing on the other side of the bar.
A pair of half-opened black eyes glanced up and met hers. The man frowned.
“What?” he drawled out, clearly taking notice of her expression. “Something wrong?”
Something in the back of her mind told her she should be crying right now. That was how people often reacted at times like these, right? The typical person would burst out in tears, screaming and sobbing and falling down into a heaping mess right where they stood.
For some reason, however, Ren simply blinked, the gears in her brain still grinding, still trying to process the sight before her, even as her limbs began to move like pre-programmed automatons that didn’t give two shits about their fried computer processor.
“Err, no.” She took a deep breath, blinked, and sighed. Her hands fell back down to her sides. She almost laughed. “No, nothing’s—” She cleared her throat. “Nothing’s wrong.”
“Hmph.” The man was clearly not pleased with her answer but started to approach the bar anyway. “Well, you looked like you just saw a ghost there. A bit rude, if you ask me. I hope you don’t greet all your customers that way.”
“I mean.” She looked down. She didn’t even feel the smile on her face as she briefly averted her gaze away to smooth down the creases on her uniform. “Can you blame me?”
When her gaze rose back up again, she saw confusion written all over the rugged man’s face. “Hm?”
She blinked a couple more times, staring straight into his dark eyes. There was no mistake—he looked exactly like he did the last time she saw him on television just a few days ago. Well, all with the exception of his mustard-yellow goggles, which she was sure she saw a brief glimpse of just behind the white strips of cloth draped around his neck.
“Do you… not remember me?” Now, she really felt like laughing. “Well, I guess it’s been a while since you last saw me, huh? It’s been like, what—a little over ten years now? I only reached up to your, like, waistline back then, and look at me now—I’m almost a little past your shoulders.”
She let the silence settle for another ten seconds, but when the puzzlement in the man’s expression worsened, she scoffed and shook her head in mock disappointment.
“Onii-san.” She picked up a small damp towel and started wiping her hands with it. “Don’t tell me you’ve all but forgotten your own little sister.”
Shouta Aizawa was reaching his hand to pull a bar stool out when her words finally registered into his brain, and just like her, his actions stopped halfway, only managing to tilt the stool at a slight angle when his expression dropped like a stone in water, and his sleepy eyes became wide awake in only a fraction of a second. “Renako-chan?”
She smiled. It wasn’t the same smile she always greeted her customers with. Anyone could tell the difference between her usual warm welcome, and the nostalgic melancholy falling over her face this exact moment.
“It’s just ‘Ren’ now.” She set the towel down on the table with one hand and turned her head up to get a proper look at him. “Ren Kagawa. No one’s called me ‘Renako’ in… well, in a while now.”
“Ren?” Slowly, he pulled the bar stool out and sat down in front of her.
She shrugged. “I don’t need these fools coming into the bar to know who I am. Who knows—maybe one of them can link me back to you, and you clearly don’t want your identity known to the public.”
“To me? What do you—oh.” His change in expression wasn’t as drastic now, though the previous drop wasn’t quite as drastic as she expected it to be, either. “You know that I’m—”
“’Eraser Head’?” She didn’t mean to say it aloud in such a mocking tone, but she couldn’t help herself. She always found herself snickering at the name whenever she heard it on TV. “Of course, I do. How could I not recognize my own big brother? And besides.” She picked up the closest cocktail shaker within her reach, twisted it open and checked inside. Not that she had much use for it tonight, anyway. “You went to U.A.—in the Department of Heroics. It’s an entire department dedicated to producing Pro Heroes like a goddamn factory. It’s no wonder to see you becoming one as soon as you graduated.” She replaced the shaker back where she found it and turned back to her brother with a semblance of her previous smile. “Not to mention the fact that your hero name is a clear dead giveaway. ‘Erasure Hero: Eraser Head’? Seems a bit on the nose, don’t you think?”
Her smile grew wider as soon as she noticed the straight frown plastered on his face, and the deadpan glare he was giving her throughout her entire monologue. He hadn’t changed a single bit, she thought.
“I didn’t have anything else,” he grumbled. “A friend suggested it. It stuck, so I kept on using it.”
“Yeah, sure, Erasure Hero.” She clicked her tongue. “All right, what’re we having tonight?”
“What—oh, right.” It was almost as if he had forgotten he just wandered into a bar—her bar, too, of all the places he could’ve wandered to in this god-forsaken city—but she didn’t want to make another snide remark about that. Not right now, at least. “Just whiskey neat, thank you.”
“Whiskey neat, huh?” She threw the towel over her shoulder as she turned around to grab a glass from the cabinet. “Didn’t think you’d turn out to be a whiskey kind of person. Guess I learn something new every day.”
“’Whiskey kind of person’?”
“Actually, no—you do look like someone who would order a Manhattan on a good night.” She picked up a bottle of whiskey rye, uncapped it and poured a generous amount into the glass. “Either that, or a classic brandy. Or malt liquor. But I’ve always thought the best of you.” On a whim, she brought out another clean glass and poured herself some of the liquid as well. “Beer’s always nice, too, of course, but I think you’d know how I feel about that.”
She could only imagine the expression on his face—or general lack thereof, considering her brother—as she spouted all this. “How did you end up like this?”
“Long story,” she sighed, turned around and placed one of the glasses down firmly in front of him. She lifted her own glass briefly and tilted it at a slight angle towards him. “Cheers.”
She didn’t even wait for him to toast with her as she took a quick but little sip of her whiskey.
He stared at his own glass but didn’t touch it.
“Renako-chan.”
She set her glass back down in front of her and looked at him. “Hmm?”
“What happened to you?”
Her fingers lingered on the sides of the glass, lifting them to trace her index around the cold rim. “Life,” she murmured absentmindedly, eyes drifting downward to the amber liquid before her. “Life happened. Isn’t that how it always goes for everyone?”
“Where’s your father?” he quickly asked.
“Oh, right. Father.” Without looking at him, she picked up her glass and took another sip. “He died two or three years ago—can’t remember. Days have been blurring for a while now. Not because of the alcohol—god, no. This—” she raised her glass, “—is the only thing that still keeps me going, figuratively and literally.”
She swirled the remaining liquid around a bit. Unlike most people, she liked it better on the rocks. She had gotten quite the few lingering glares if she voiced that opinion to some of the more serious whiskey aficionados, but she couldn’t care less about her own drinking choices.
“That long?” Her eyes drifted upwards and saw his eyebrows knitting together. “And you haven’t reached out to me since then? Why am I finding this out now? Is this where the two of you have been this whole time?”
“Calm down, Shouta.” She set the glass down gently on the surface in front of her. “No, we moved out to Yokohama at first. Lived there for a few years, then after he died, I moved out here. Not because of the whole ‘liberation’ thing—no, I never gave a damn about that. I just knew someone down here who said they would help me out if I was ever in a pinch, so…” She took a deep breath. “And I did reach out—at least, I tried to. Sent a letter and everything to the old address, then to U.A. when I never got a response. Still haven’t.”
His forehead loosened. “I never received any letter.”
“Huh,” was all she said as she finished the last of her drink. Goddamn, she thought. She was going to need something else, but something lighter. There was no need for her to get drunk this early into the night, but if she was going to have this conversation right now, she was going to need something to get her through it.
“Renako-chan.”
“Stop calling me that.” She turned around and decided to pour herself some cider. It was definitely lighter than whiskey, with the same tangy feeling that would linger in the back of her throat. “Not that I don’t like people calling me that, it’s just—” She unscrewed the bottle cap and poured a little into her glass. “Nobody’s called me that in a while. And that’s good, because it helps me forget.” She screwed the cap back on and sighed. “It just reminds me of Father. And Mother. And us.”
“Is that why you took up this job? So you can drink to forget all you want?”
She shook her head and tried to ignore the minute hints of anger rising in his voice. “I got out of school—was kicked out, mind you.” She turned around and, instead of closing up the distance between where she stood and where he sat, she leaned back against the counter, swirling the amber liquid around in the glass. “I needed something to do—something to keep me busy, and hopefully pays enough so that I can save up in case I need to buy my own freedom from the old man, or something like that. I wandered into this bar, tried to pass off being legal enough to drink, but that didn’t work out. Luckily for me, the owner must’ve seen I needed help, and he needed a pair of hands to help him out from time to time, so he offered me a job. Said I didn’t need to be legal to handle the drinks as long as I didn’t drink them.”
“And your father was all right with this?”
“Who gives a damn what the old man thought,” she grumbled, mostly to herself, but tried to withhold her malice as much as possible. It was easier to do with a spinning head, she thought. “I got the job to get away from him. He doesn’t give a damn about what I do as long as I came home every night, and I did.” She pointed towards his glass of whiskey. “Drink up. You’re gonna need it.”
And, after some initial hesitation, he did. He remained silent as he finally picked up the glass and brought it to his lips. “What happened to your father?” Shouta asked solemnly, tipping his glass just enough so the liquid flowed smoothly past his lips and down his throat.
“We lived in a bad neighborhood,” she began, eyes glancing away. “Heroes and villains fighting all over the place all the time. Our apartment complex was caught in the cross-fire.” She took another sip of her drink and forced herself to swallow. “My Quirk saved me. Just me. I don’t give a damn that Father didn’t make it out. I just—”
I just don’t want to talk about the others, she wanted to say, but couldn’t bring herself to say it out loud.
She remembered the first time waking up after that incident. Survivor’s guilt—that was one of the things the therapist told her during their first appointment after she made full physical recovery. She couldn’t remember much else of what the therapist said, though—all those words were nothing more than a blur in her mind, and the building collapse became nothing more than a scratch in her memory, and a few actual physical scars still lingering all throughout her body that she doubted would ever heal.
The doctors did their best, she thought. With the double-edged sword that was her Quirk, they most certainly did their best on her.
When she looked back at her brother, Shouta’s expression had changed very little, but she could see his softened gaze, even if he were still displeased with her revelations.
“One of my old regulars at the place I used to work at told me he could help, if I ever needed it.” She scoffed. “He knew what kind of crowd I was getting involved in, working there and all. So, he said, if I ever needed an out—someplace to stay, or a fresh start, he was willing to lend me a helping hand—”
“Crowd?” Shouta’s frown deepened. “Wait—what kind of crowd?”
A slip of her tongue, she thought. She knew she should be more careful with her words around Shouta, considering his occupation, and especially considering her own.
“The bad kind,” was all she tried to say at first. “You know how it is. I told you, it was a bad neighborhood—but it’s all good. My old boss—he was a better father figure than Father ever was. He made sure no one dared to lay a single finger on me, be it our clientele or even people outside of work.”
“Bad neighborhood.” His tired eyes squinted. “You mean villains?”
She tapped the glass with her index finger before taking another sip. “I said what I said.”
“You’ve been dealing with villains this entire time?”
“I’m an adult, Shouta.” Goddammit. “I can take care of myself.”
“How long ago was this?”
“Believe it or not, I wouldn’t be here if I couldn’t handle myself back then, all right?”
“And you didn’t tell me you were dealing with villains?”
“Well, I couldn’t tell you shit, now could I?” She stopped herself, took a deep breath and closed her eyes as she set the glass back down on the counter behind her. “I’ve been through enough. No one—not even Father—gave a damn about me. My old boss did, but god knows if he still remembers me—god knows if he’s still alive, for that matter.” She scoffed lightly. “I’m used to it. I grew up having to deal with this shit all the time. And I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about my customers because I clearly had no means to do so. But of course, it’s my fault, isn’t it?”
Maybe this was the alcohol talking. She prided herself in having grown a decent tolerance, but she could only take in so much at a time to prevent her liver from collapsing in on itself.
She closed her eyes and sighed. Her hands reached up to rub her face. Maybe she should just close up for the night. She owned the entire goddamn place, after all. It was a Tuesday, so there shouldn’t be any more than five people stopping by, at best, tonight anyway.
“No, it’s not your fault.” At Shouta’s somber voice, she peeled her hands off her face to look at him again. He finished the rest of his drink and sighed as he placed the glass firmly down on the surface of the bar. “You’re still my little sister.”
“I’m almost twenty-one.”
“But you’re still my sister.”
“Half-sister.”
“Stop it.” He exhaled slowly. “You’re right, I needed this. Can I—” He cleared his throat. “Can I get another?”
She pushed herself off the back counter. “For you?” She moved forward and picked up his glass. “On the house, brother.”
And she poured him another, without question. And she set the glass back down in front of him, refilled, without question.
He decided to take another sip before he continued.
“You’re still my little sister,” he said then. “I was supposed to be your big brother. I don’t know why I never received any of those letters, but.” His eyes drifted down to his glass as his hand lingered around it. “I graduated from U.A. as a Pro Hero. But some hero I am if I can’t protect my own little sister.”
“Twenty-one in literally two months’ time.”
“You’re almost a whole ten years younger than me, Renako.”
“I’m a legal adult, you know.”
“Not the point I’m trying to make here.” He narrowed his eyes at her again. “How did you turn out like this?”
“Shouta, I literally just told you—”
“No, I meant—” he cleared his throat, “—how did my sweet, innocent little sister end up becoming a sarcastic little know-it-all, hmm? I don’t remember raising you like this.”
She glared at him, livid. “Since when was I ‘sweet’ and ‘innocent’? And besides—” she picked up her drink and brought the glass to her lips, “—you barely raised me at all. Maybe that’s the problem.”
“Renako.”
She didn’t mean it to sound so condescending. She knew what he meant earlier—that despite it all, he was blaming himself for not being there for her while growing up. It was a bad habit to make some snide remark to anything he said—and, to some extent, to what her customers said, but she had more self-restraint when it came to her job—and she offered him an apologetic look as she took another sip of her drink.
“I’m sorry,” she spoke with sincerity, as sincere as she could make herself sound. “I didn’t mean it like that. What I’m saying is—maybe if I was with you this whole time, I would’ve turned out better.”
“Maybe.” He sighed. “I should be the one who’s sorry, you know.”
“I know you are.” The corner of her lip twitched. “You haven’t changed one bit, you know? Don’t worry—I know you are.”
The two fell into the depths of silence quite naturally after that. They were both adults, after all; back then, she would’ve been the one pouting and giving him the silent treatment, and Shouta, being the much older brother, had to be the one to apologize—to bury the hatchet, leave the water under the bridge and all that—but in the most passive—and, rarely, just slightly aggressive—way possible, characteristic only to one Shouta Aizawa.
Ren felt her shoulders relaxing at the fond thought of that. She had missed him—of course, she had missed him. She was never angry at him, though—simply confused as to what happened between them, having fallen out of contact just like that. She had thought her brother loved her enough to try looking for them. Maybe it was her father’s doing. She wouldn’t put it past the bastard to resort to something as cruel as that, just to cut off all ties with the step-son he loathed to no end.
“Where do you live now?” Shouta asked all of a sudden, bringing Ren’s attention back to him.
“Oh, uh.” She pushed herself off the counter with her drink still in hand. “Just upstairs. Why?”
“Do your customers know that?”
She shook her head. “Of course not. You can’t even get into the apartment through here. There’s a separate staircase and entrance to it around the back.”
“I suppose that’s good enough.” Grumpy old man. “Oh, right, before I go—I came in here to ask you a few questions at first, since places like these usually invite a whole slew variety of the city’s locale—I just never expected in a million years that the bartender would be my own little sister.”
She couldn’t resist rolling her eyes. “Shouta—”
“There have been some rumors going around that the Meta Liberation Army still exists here.”
He raised his head to stare at her; anybody else would’ve shrunk away in fear of what his Quirk could do, but, considering what her own Quirk could do, she wasn’t even sure what the outcome of both their Quirks’ activation would do to her. Neither of them had tried it, however—neither of them wanted to risk finding out what would happen if they did.
“The Meta Liberation Army?” She frowned at the name.
“Have you heard of it?”
“Heard of it?” She scoffed. “It’s all they ever talk about here in Deika.”
“Do you talk a lot with your customers?” he asked, expression turning grave.
“Oh.” She knew where this was going. “You mean, the typical bartender stereotype? Chat up my clients, pretend to be friendly and such, pour more alcohol down their throats to coerce them into telling me their deepest darkest secrets—”
“Renako.”
“I’m kidding.” Mostly, anyway. She didn’t do it out of malice, though, but more out of habit. Alcohol worked differently for different people. She couldn’t say her own life hadn’t been exciting so far, but the job made it more exciting than it should’ve been otherwise. And with quieter days like these, she wouldn’t mind listening in to a couple of customers telling her a story or two each from their own personal lives.
However, she did have a policy—just one, to uphold her integrity as an amateur therapist of sorts. Unfortunately, Shouta was no exception to it.
“I’ve heard people say things.” She has heard a lot of people say a lot of things, much more than she ever should. “But nothing I can or will tell you about what you’re asking of me.”
She knew what his reaction would be—anticipated it, even.
He frowned and narrowed his eyes at her. She could see the lines all over his face. He was getting older, she thought. “What?”
“Look.” She coughed to clear her throat, then moistened her lips with a swipe of her tongue. “I know this was going to happen someday, all right—heroes coming in here, asking me questions about a certain villain of sorts, asking if I’ve overheard any of their plans and such. And that is precisely why—” she took a deep breath, “—I discourage them from saying it out loud—from saying it to me. I would stop them before going too far, or I would interrupt them and change the subject, or leave the room altogether.”
“Renako—”
“I want nothing to do with it, Shouta.” Her eyelids fluttered and twitched. “And yeah, sure, it doesn’t stop me from accidentally overhearing a conversation or two from a group of villains huddled in the corner of the room or something. But I want nothing to do with it—it’s none of my business.” When she blinked, she felt heat pooling in her eyelids. “This hero-villain business, and all the work that comes with it—I want nothing to do with it. I’ve seen my fair share of conflict. And, as owner of this here bar, I will have none of that happening around here.”
“But you know what they’re doing.” He blew a sharp breath through his nose. “And you know what they’re doing is wrong.”
“And what can I do about it, Shouta?” She scoffed. “I’m not a hero—I’m a bartender. I work to meet ends meet, and I still have my fair share of debts to pay back. If doing what I do keeps the regulars coming back here night after night again, then I’ll do it. I have to.” Another scoff, this time accompanied with a feeble shrug. “I don’t have a choice.”
“You do,” Shouta quickly answered. “You can come with me. You can train to become a Pro Hero—”
“That’s not a life for me, and you know it.” She shook her head and her gaze started to wander. “Don’t get me wrong—I want an exciting life, just not that exciting.” Her hand went up to the juncture between her neck and her shoulder on its own. The scar underneath her clothes, where her hand now rested, throbbed almost imperceptibly. “I’ve had my fair share of that sort of excitement, and I can say for sure that it’s not for me. I’m fine living like this—sitting by the sidelines, on the bleachers—just observing. It’s more than enough—more than I can ever ask for.”
He must’ve seen the look in her eyes, and how her hand moved, and how her fingers brushed against the material of her clothes. She had told him enough for him to know what she meant, and why.
She didn’t realize her head had bowed down from her own words—the words she spoke out of her own mouth, and even more so at how pathetic and weak she sounded. She must’ve sounded so selfish. Of course, she couldn’t use her Quirk as an excuse to weasel out of the argument, not with Shouta around—his Quirk was no more offensive than hers, and yet, he managed to pull through, graduating from the prestigious U.A. High School as a Pro Hero—a result of his own blood, sweat and tears. If she had joined him long ago, perhaps she would have followed in his footsteps, too.
It was an excuse, but not the reasons for the choices she had made thus far in life—the choices she made right here while standing right in front of her own brother, the Pro Hero.
She gave him but just one reason. She could sigh in relief knowing it was already enough to win her the argument, because she sure as hell did not want to give him the other reasoning she had in mind.
“It’s not safe for you here, either,” he said instead, casting his gaze down at the glass in his hands. “If you truly want out, you shouldn’t be standing right at the fence of it all.”
“I’m not, and I never said I wanted out.” Her hand fell to her side. Maybe she should start taking those pills again. “I just don’t want to be part of the conflict. Eye of the hurricane, Shouta.”
“You can do so much more, Renako.” He held his glass up to his lips, then paused for a moment before downing all of its contents in one go. “You can help us. You can help people.”
“I am.” You don’t know it yet, brother, but I am. “I let them talk. I lend an ear to anybody who needs it, and occasionally, a few words of advice here and there, whenever appropriate. I’m helping as much as I’m able to.”
“You know that’s not what I mean.”
“It’s as much as I can do right now, Shouta,” she said with finality. “There is a reason behind every single action that a person does. People deal with all sorts of different things in life. I can help them, either by pouring them another drink to help them forget it all, or I let them talk—all for a price of at least 800 yen. That’s not bad compared to your local therapist, you know.”
“Oh—right.” Much to her confusion, he suddenly reached into his pocket and pulled out a small black square—his wallet—flipped it open and began pulling out some cash. “How much for the—”
She immediately shook her head. “I told you—it’s on the house.”
“Renako, I insist—”
“Here’s an idea on how you can pay me back instead.” She extended her palm out. “Cell phone, please.”
“What?” He frowned and glared at her, but when she bent her fingers in beckoning, he sighed and pulled out his phone instead and planted it on her open palm, before stashing his wallet back to his pocket.
“And stop calling me ‘Renako’.” She held it up briefly for him to enter his password, then brought the phone closer to her as her fingers immediately went to work. “It’s literally been years since anyone called me that—not even my own boss knew what my full name was.” Was. Is. What’s the difference. “And besides, we don’t want any of my clients accidentally wandering in here while you’re calling me that, yeah?”
“Right.”
As soon as she was done with the phone, she handed it back over to him. He frowned at the lit screen.
“Don’t be a stranger,” she said, corner of her lip twitching as she spoke. “And don’t share that with anyone, all right? It’s a dangerous business, Shouta, and I’m right in the eye of the hurricane. I still need to take precautions, you know.”
“Yeah.” His frown disappeared as soon as he realized the new contact added to his phone was none other than hers, and he stashed his phone back to his pocket. “So, you’re staying here?”
It took her a little longer to find the words to say. “I have some unfinished business of my own here.” She wasn’t intentionally trying to be all cryptic and mysterious. She wanted to be truthful to him, her own brother, but she knew she couldn’t. She doubted she would ever be able to. “And besides, this is the only place I’ve got—nothing else.”
“I can help you, you know.” He stuffed both his hands into his pockets. “I’ve just a new job offer—homeroom teacher at U.A.”
She quirked an eyebrow in genuine curiosity at his words. “Homeroom teacher? At U.A. High School?”
“Yeah.” He was mumbling again, eyes casting off to the side. She was sure there would be many others who were jealous of him at this exact moment, and yet, Shouta didn’t even seem the slightest bit enthusiastic at the otherwise once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. “They offered it to me since, you know, I’m an alumnus and all. I usually operate at night, anyway, so it’s not that bad of a day job, if you ask me.”
“Teacher by day, Pro Hero by night.” She shook her head. “You need sleep, too, you know. And a break.”
“I’ll be fine.” She scoffed and rolled her eyes. He narrowed his gaze at her. “It’s a decent job with a decent pay, Rena—Ren.” He took a brief pause to clear his throat. Ren. “Enough to provide for the two of us, if you want to.”
“I can’t.” She shook her head. There was no hesitation whatsoever, because she had none. “I’m making enough to get by, all right? I can still afford a couple of little luxuries every month or so, too. I’m just saving up for a car, is all. Baby steps, you know?”
“Ren—”
“I’m fine.” She offered him a kind smile, not caring that he didn’t explicitly return it himself, knowing he silently did in his own way—through his persistence, for example. “Seriously. I’m an adult now, Shouta—I can take care of myself. And I’m happy for you, you know—that job offer?”
He scoffed at the reminder. “Honestly, I don’t know if teaching a bunch of high-schoolers is really my thing—”
“You can do it.” She had doubts, knowing her brother, but her faith in him triumphed even those. “You’ve dealt with me before, back from even when we were kids.”
“Teenagers are worse.”
“You’ll do fine.” It was strange how both of them were trying to convince the other of doing things against their initial will. She was winning, though. Was this a habit of his? Letting her win, just because she was the younger sibling? She had hoped not, but she was enjoying it. “You’ll do great. I know you will.”
He scoffed at her words. “You sure act like you know a lot of things, don’t you?”
“That’s because I do, dummy.” The corner of her lip twisted to form a smirk. “I know enough, anyway.”
“Hm.” His eyes briefly wandered to the clock on the far side of the wall. “I can’t stay for long. I was just going to ask a few questions and leave, but—”
“I don’t know anything about the MLA.”
His head snapped back towards her, eyes lazily staring up at her in question.
She shrugged. “Even before I told them to stop talking to me about what they do outside those doors, I really don’t know anything about them.” She crossed her arms in front of her. “Officially, they’re gone. But people here in Deika don’t see them as villains—they see them as literal liberators.” She nodded to the doors. “People out there running around using Quirks however they like—that’s pretty much what the MLA stood for—from what I’ve heard, anyway. There’s talk here and there about how they’re still running things from behind the scenes, but as far as I’m concerned, that’s all there is to it—just talk.”
He pondered it for a moment before replying. “Are you sure?”
“These people are fanatics,” she said. “To them, the Meta Liberation Army were heroes. They won’t just stop talking about them just because most people think they’re gone—if they’re really gone.”
“And what do you think about it?”
“What do I—” She stopped herself as soon as she realized what he’d meant, then scoffed. “I think they’re nuts, honestly. I’m just lucky to be born with a Quirk that can protect me from all of that—well, most of it, at least.”
“Right.” After sparing her a brief lingering gaze, he stood up from his seat as she moved back to lean against the counter, arms still folded in front of her. “Are you sure you don’t—”
“Shouta.” She gave him a look, and his shoulders fell. “I’ll call you if I ever need anything, all right?”
“You don’t have—”
“I memorized it when I was adding mine to your phone.” She brought an index finger up to the side of her head and tapped her temple. “At least five of my regulars have tabs that need to be paid, too. I keep all that information up here—only because I’ve never gotten the chance to actually jot it down somewhere.”
She smiled when he sighed and shook his head, before he turned around and started heading for the door.
“Please come again.” She said it out of habit—she said it to all her clients, regardless of regulars or not—but there was a hint of something else in her voice that wasn’t deliberate at first, until she saw him turn his head around briefly to look back towards her. She smiled. “And don’t be a stranger, yeah?”
To even her own surprise, his tired eyes stared back at her, lingered for a few more seconds, as the corners of his lips quirked up to form the smallest of smiles.
“Take care, Ren,” he said with crystal-clear sincerity.
She nodded. “You, too, Shouta.”
The two exchanged one more reassuring glance between each other—one more reassuring smile—before he bowed his head down, hiding half of his face—his smile—behind the white cloth wrapped around his neck and draped over the top of his chest, as he pushed the doors open and exited the building with a promise between siblings.

(Make believe question this week because i haven't done one of these in a minute) You're going on a journey.
What kind of journey is it? Are you going on a mission? A holiday? Back home?
How are you getting there? Train, car, flying cleaning appliance?
What's the journey like? What do you see on your way there? Do you meet someone interesting?
I think a lot of people answered this with a realistic vacation, so I guess I'll do the same
I went to England several years ago, still have nostalgia for it, have places I wanted to go but couldn't, and literally dream about going back
I think the last dream I had about it was me landing at the airport and realizing I'd left all my meds in Canada, so I was panicking and trying to get some from a pharmacy to last me until I got back... which is realistic because I did forget to pick up my Ritalin from my normal pharmacy before leaving for Toronto when I went in real life, so I had to get a new prescription at a walk-in clinic (since they can't transfer prescriptions for controlled substances) and fill it at a Shoppers in a mall somewhere the day before my flight out to London. I was fairly new to taking Ritalin at that point, so I didn't know how I would react to suddenly going off after being on it for a few months and didn't want to risk spending my vacation in withdrawal.
The people I stayed with (my mom's friend from high school and his wife and kids) always talk to me with the idea that I'll go see them again, so they ask me who I'll bring next time (I went alone before) and they suggest things like "If you were staying longer than 2 weeks, we could take a plane up and spend a weekend in Scotland" or "We're thinking about getting a caravan, which would mean you and your mum could have a private space when you come back". I would probably take my mom next time, since it's her friends, and hopefully we could do a lil trip out to Scotland at some point.
My friends have moved since I went over, so it would be fun to see the new house, the new town :)
One of the places I wanted to visit but technically didn't was Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium. Lady Dinah's is the cat café in London and I didn't think ahead about it, so I found out when I was actually in England that you need to make a reservation, and they were booking a month in advance when I was only there for 13 days. There's still a lobby where you can purchase food and drink or buy a souvenir, and you can drop in to see if they've had cancelations; there were no cancelations when I went, but I still got a chai latte and they used a cat stencil for the cinnamon on top :3 I think Dan and Phil may have filmed a video there
I'd also wanna go to Marsden, which is where they filmed one of my favourite TV shows, In The Flesh. Don't know what I would do, maybe just have a wander and look around, see how many locations from the show I can spot. I didn't do this last time because Marsden is in the north and my friends were in the south, so it's a rather long trip.
And I did go to Brighton before, but I didn't realise until a couple years later that that's where the gays go to live?? So I'd wanna go back to Brighton and do something related to LGBT
Would I meet interesting people?? Probably, since I did the last time. I remember a guy on a train who said he liked my TARDIS bag, so our conversation went:
"Thanks, my cousin got it for my in the States!"
"At San Diego ComiCon???"
"No, at a Hot Topic..."
"Oh ☹"
"... in Michigan"
"Oh ☹☹☹"
There was also the guy I met at Stone Henge but my brain was in the mood to mostly just talk with my friends that day, so when the guy noticed I was being quiet, he asked "Oh, sorry, do you speak English or do you speak Chinese?" ... English is my first language and I am as white as they come. Also, sometimes I remember the lady at Tesco who kept dropping and therefore breaking jars of pickles; didn't actually meet her, but I will always remember you, Pickle Lady.

✨Intimidating✨
Pairing: Alpha! Issei Matsukawa X Omega! Reader, Alpha! Satori Tendou x Omega! Reader
Genre: Fluff!
Request: can i request matsukawa and tendou w an omega that’s afraid to ask them to scent something for them? 🖤
Summary: Alpha's are scary creatures. Going up to them is scary, and honestly, you were never sure you would ever be able to look one in the eye. Unfortunately, your omega was dead set on one particular alpha-- one who seemed so much more intimidating than any other alpha you had seen before.
Author’s Note:  Nonnie you really said-- let me pick custard's husbands.
Requests: Closed!
Buy me a coffee?
**✨=1000 followers special!**
Tumblr media
Issei Matsukawa
➵ Matsukawa Issei; a strong, tall and proud third year alpha. Part of the starting line-up of Seijoh's volleyball team.
➵Unfortunately, he was also the object of your inner omega's (And begrudgingly your own) affections.
➵ It wasn't like you weren't friendly with him, but he was just so much bigger than you!
➵And honestly, you were just...scared?
➵ He'd never done anything to make you fear him, as he was just a giant teddy bear of a man, but you just couldn't really explain it.
➵ In actuality, you were scare of most of the third year boys-- despite being a third year yourself.
➵ They were just so tall and buff! You couldn't help it!
➵ This didn't help with the fact that there was some obvious chemistry between you and Matsukawa.
➵ Even the teacher could see it
➵ However, you just...couldn't find the courage to ask him to scent something for you to begin the courting process.
➵ You understood that volleyball practice took up a lot of time so him giving you a gift was out of the question.
➵ Meaning it was up to you.
___
You had been trying for days to work up the courage to talk to Matsukawa.
It hadn't been easy, a number of things stopping you-- the number one factor being your own nerves. You would be talking with him, having an incredible time before your omega would remind you that you need to ask and you would malfunction.
Honestly, it was almost a problem at this point. He was always super understanding when you excused yourself but you felt terrible about it.
You just wanted to get it done and over with! You wanted him to hold you in his arms already! To love and cherish him, make sure he's okay after practice.
But your goddamn nerves just wouldn't let you!
Groaning, your tensed your shoulders at the clang that came when your forehead smacked on the cool metal of the lockers. In your hand was a crumpled shirt, one you had been trying to ask Matsukawa to scent for the past however long.
"It's not even that hard?!" You groaned, smacking your hand against the same locker. "It's four words, for heaven's sake. Just 'please scent this Matsukawa', not that bloody difficult!"
You huffed, still cringing at the sound of the metal echo in the empty hallway-- well, the presumably empty hallway.
"About as difficult as saying 'Please be my omega'."
You chirped in surprise, whipping around to face the tall alpha. He was smiling down softly at you, one brow raised as he leaned against the wall with his arms crossed and duffle hanging by his side. "Matsukawa-san, I- uh,"
He held up a hand, getting up and walking over to you. He gently pried the shirt from your grip before rubbing it against his scent gland, wrapping his unoccupied hand around your waist and leading you out the front.
"Matsu-"
"Issei, I'm your alpha now, aren't I?" He smirked, nuzzling your temple with a laugh as your cheeks erupted in red. "Come on, pretty thing, let's go get you some food."

Satori Tendo
➵ Now Satori is...a lot.
➵ He's energetic and eccentric.
➵ And just... a lot.
➵ Not in a bad way, of course, but (Sorry, this is custard's personal HC) he needed someone to balance him out.
➵ Someone to take refuge in. To hold him close when he has anxiety attacks (Another personal HC of Custard's is that Tendo has severe anxiety and I will take this with me till the day I die).
➵ He needed the shy and small omega that was you.
➵ At this point, if wasn't a matter of if it was when you two would become official as you both balanced each other out perfectly.
➵ Your mellow attitude calmed his other-worldly one.
➵ His brash and straight-forward nature made up for your shy and easily-overwhelmed one.
➵Honestly, ya'll cute.
➵Satori likes you a lot, you like him a lot, unfortunately, the only issue?
➵ Satori cannot, for the life of him, do anything (another Personal Custard HC) that requires nimble fingers.
➵ (The personal HC is that he was super clumsy with his hands and fingers until his adulthood when he learned to channel it into chocolate.)
➵ So things like beading necklaces or bracelets was kind of out of the question for him.
➵ Meaning if was left to you.
___
"You can do it. You can do it. You can- I can't do it-" You groaned, turning away from the entrance to the gym, wringing your sweater between your sweaty hands.
You knew Satori was in there.
You knew when it came to you, he wouldn't bat an eye at stepping out for...hell the rest of practice.
You knew that this was practically a formality, as he already treated you like his omega. Feeding you, scenting you, caring for you around your heats and helping you prep before giving you space.
He was honestly perfect for you. Just as you were for him.
Growling to yourself you faced the gym doors once more, breathing in and out slowly. You could do this! This was Satori. He promised to always hold you and value your feelings.
You could do this.
Stepping forward, you stumbled back as the door poked open-- happy ruby eyes gleaming as they saw you. You snorted, covering your mouth with a hand. Satori took this as a good sign, waggling his fingers in a greeting as his eyes scrunched meaning he was smiling.
You waved back, smiling as well. When his eyes turned into small squints, analyzing your figure you became self conscious, shuffling slightly. The alpha picked up on this, soon slipping out of the gym completely, closing the door behind him. He sauntered over to you, towering over you as he held his hands behind his back.
"Hey little omega, how are you? Come to visit the lil' ol guess monster?" He teased, a twinkle of something in his eyes.
You nodded, not trusting your words before thrusting the article at the confused alpha. He caught it, barely, holding it for a second before it clicked, the smile returning to his face.
"Damn. And here I was, thinking I finally got the upper hand on you." He chuckled, quickly disappearing into the gym before reappearing once more, this time with a woken necklace. He bashfully handed it to you along with the, newly scented, sweater.
"Guess you'll always be a mystery to me, huh Paradise?" He laughed, holding to his chest like he always promised too.

I saw this post and I was wondering if you write Malleus' too, is okay for you to make that?
How to win a heart of Malleus Draconia?
Tumblr media
a/n: I started posting my writings here because I want to improve my English — so I technically wouldn't make this request. But! Someone on Wattpad (where I take requests) asked for the same thing, so I rolled up my sleeves and wrote this guide today in both languages. Enjoy~
1. Don't be afraid of him.
It is said that the first impression is the most important.
So when you first saw this guy walking through the corridor of Diasomnia, it was hard for you to get rid of that view from your head.
Illuminated both by the green magic flames set in the lobby, as well as by the moon, which eventually managed to break through the dark clouds and with a bright glow appear in the windows of the dormitory, he seemed... lonely and beautiful.
You shuddered as you took a step down the hallway and the dark-haired man turned to you. He measured you with his emerald eyes. And then you recognized him; all the conversations about the mysterious and fearsome Malleus Draconia flew through your head.
Everything told you to rush towards the hallway and run as far as possible, but a piece of you found it inappropriate. Or rather, no one would want to chase everyone away from themself... right?
When you realized you were looking at him for a while, you took a deep breath and nod slightly.
"Good evening, Draconia-san," you said quickly. After a while you added, "The moon is beautiful today, don't you think?”
 2. Smile a lot.
Today was a really wonderful day: the test was postponed, your favorite dish was given in the canteen, and for some reason, the last two lessons were canceled – your class had to make just a quick note about a topic and it took less than fifteen minutes.
"Something happened?" Malleus asked, seeing how almost in the jumps you walk past him. When you looked at him, he added, "You smile a lot.”
"I can stop smiling if you want," you made a sad face, but after a while, the corners of your mouth began to tremble uncontrollably and twisted up again. "Oops, I can’t. Today... it was such a good day... that I think I'm slowly using my life's happiness.”
"I didn't say that smiling is bad," he said. "You look so much better when you smile.”
"Oh," you sighed with apparent surprise. "Is it a compliment?"
"It’s rather a fact..?"
 3. From time to time visit him during club activities.
"Is this a class of the ‘Gargoyle research society club’?” with a deaf knock you opened the door. Malleus turned to you, making a break from browsing through the materials gathered in the library about the history of each of the gargoyles on the school grounds. And there were a lot of them.
"Yes," he replied briefly, getting up. "Do you need something, [Name]?"
"Not at all, my club don’t have a meeting today," you said, closing the door behind you.
You looked around: the room was as clean as ever, except for one desk, where were laid several huge volumes about statues in NRC.
“Are you here alone?” You said before you thought. You lowered your eyes to see Malleus nodding unconcerned slightly. You blinked several times trying to think of what else you could say. "This room... could be a secret base," that was the first thing that came to your mind. Malleus turned his head to one side, uncertain of your response.
“A secret base..? Why?”
"I have no idea," you admitted quickly. "But the very existence of a mysterious point is interesting, isn't it? Doing normal things, such as watching movies or just talking, seems more interesting in places like this,” After a moment of silence, you sighed. "You know what, this idea with the base is stupid”
"We can try," he replied with serious tone. You raised your eyes to see how he looked around the room. "But you'll just have to explain this idea to me in more detail. We can also tell Lilia, Silver and Sebek about it...” he smiled as if seeing your five together in his thoughts was a pleasure. "It will be surely... fun.”
 4. Get yourself a Tamagotchi.
"Look!" you spin a new key chain on your finger. You finally stopped and showed it to Malleus. "Now they are matching!”
A small electronic toy, in a dark green screen that, when it flashed, showed a virtual, pixelated animal. You were impressed with how good quality it was made, especially since you only gave the Shroud brothers a sketch of a toy that Malleus owned.
Your keychain was exactly the same, just a different color and with another pet.
Malleus pulled out his own device and put it on the table. He pressed one of the buttons and a small pet appeared on the keychain – a dragon.
"They can now be friends," you brought your toy closer to so-called Gao-Gao Dragon-kun.
"Do you think so?" He asked in a very surprised tone, but it sounded as if in a moment he were about to burst out with an inexplicably joyful and surprised laugh.
"Of course. Everyone needs a decent friend, no?”
 5. Gain the trust of Lilia, Silver and Sebek.
Lilia, one of Malleus' closest people. It is much more likely that you will meet him before Malleus. He will be very proud when he learns that Malleus has found a friend. If you become a taster of Lilia, in terms of his pastries, he will 100% like you, and at 20% you will leave the kitchen alive and well.
Silver, who has mastered the art of sleeping in any conditions. It's easy to get him into your plans, although with the craziest ones he will hesitate. Rather well-disposed towards everyone, he can cover for you when you are not in class— but he usually inadvertently falls asleep and both of you often have penal assignments after school.
Sebek, faithful to Malleus, if he doesn't like you, you won't have too many opportunities to stay by Malleus's side without a thunderous glances at you. He will recognize you if you will listen carefully to his monologues about his master and as a sign of your friendship, he will teach you by heart of all the titles and achievements of Malleus so far.
With this trio by your side, you can get a lot further than you might have imagined...
 6. Be a master in hide and seek.
You’d give your right arm that your breath was too loud.
You pressed your hands to your mouth as you crouched in the corner of the room.
From whose voices you already heard, you knew that Lilia had already found Sebek. This meant that you or Silver would still be helping cook dinner since Malleus didn’t come at the start of the game.
This may seem silly, but the ability to play classic games was one of the elements of the art of survival in Diasomnia.
It was thanks to games like ‘stone-paper-scissors’, hide and seek or tag that household chores fell on the shoulders of the losers. Lilia loved the idea, and there was always a proud smile on his lips when he saw his beloved children play together.
You heard the steps behind you and shivered.
Very slowly you turned around and looked up to see Malleus standing over you and wondering what you were doing, crouching in the darkest corner of the room.
Puns were also included in the survival pack.
Fearing that Lilia would hear your whisper, you put your finger on your mouth, asking him not to say a word. You put a begging eye into it – all but not cooking with Lilia. Not again.
Malleus nodded, recognizing the gravity of the situation, although he smiled.
Really, no one would want Malleus to be an enemy.
Or at least in such a situation.
 7. Do not hesitate to ask him for help with learning.
"In theory, you should focus on the space around you," Malleus pulled a wand in front of him. It flashed, and almost at the same time, a thin but incredibly strong protective barrier was created around him. “Weaker spells can be reflected. In turn, the stronger ones are better to block”
You nodded understandingly.
Defensive magic was not something easy to understand. Most depended on the person against whom the counter spell was being prepared. And there are countless people who walk on this Earth and want to start fights.
"Unique spells block or avoid physically," he continued. You nodded at every subsequent sentence, slowly feeling like all the lessons are eventually gaining transparency. “Using unique magic against unique magic, the stronger will win, both will lead to explosions or completely reduce.
He looked at you when you wrote down the last sentence in your notebook.
"I sincerely hope that you will only need this information in class," he said with a sigh. "If you need help, call me. I will come. I promise.”
 8. Sometimes be persuaded to wear extravagant clothes.
"Do you really think it suits me?" you turned around, looking at yourself from every possible angle in the mirror.
You were going to the theater in a few classes to see some era-related play that you've been discussing now in history lessons. Everyone, respecting the reputation, actions and achievements of theatre, dressed in their best clothes.
Malleus stood next to you.
He was already wearing a black and white outfit with green accessories. They all worked so well together and fitted him like a glove that you were sure that the whole outfit was made especially for him.
"Yes," he replied. "Everything you put on today suited you very well.”
Once again, with critical eyesight, you looked at the outfit, face and hair, before you quickly turned off the lights in the room and closed the door behind you.
Then you smiled at Malleus.
"We can go now," you said. You made your way through the portal to the main NRC building. "And... thank you for your help.
"My pleasure," he said. Under no circumstances was it just a polite formula. He really loved looking at you.
 9. Invite him to your birthday/party.
"Another break from school soon, huh?" — you muttered, leaning against the railing.
You took a deep breath and let the fresh, pleasant air refresh you.
"Are you going to home, [Name]?" Malleus asked. Green lights were still flying around him, so you guessed he’d just appeared here.
"I haven't decided yet," you sighed. "It would be nice to go home, but the break won't be very long... Ah, that's right!” you straightened up and turned to him. "How about spending another break together? As soon as I can, I will contact my family... although I cannot promise anything.”
Though he did not show it, Malleus' heart beat a little faster.
Spend free time? With someone? With someone he likes?
"Of course," he sounded less calm than he thought. He wasn’t often invited anywhere, even for the things he should have been on, so there was a lot of excitement growing in his body. "I don't see anything against it.”
 10. From "The Great Malleus Draconia-sama" to "Love".
"Ah, The Great Malleus-sama!" you sighed theatrically, taking from him a box of chocolates with a joyful smile. You could promise that because of this dark-haired boy here, you slowly become pampered. "Thank you for your generosity!”
Malleus frowned.
"The Great Malleus-sama"..?” he pondered, putting his fingers to his chin. "Did Sebek told you again to call me with this title?"
"No," you laughed softly at his reaction. "I did it out of curiosity. Maybe I could call you some cute nickname, hmm?" you smiled mischievously.
"For example?"
"By adding ‘-chan’ to your name?” you turned on your phone and typed something related to the nicknames. You started reading suggestions and struggled to hold back from laughing. ” ’Sunshine’, ‘star’, ‘flower’, ‘sweetheart’, ‘love’...
"I like the last one," he said, and the invisible force stung you to the ground.
"Would you like me to call you like that? Out of curiosity or out of love?" You laughed, but your cheeks were all red with blushes.
He smiled sincerely at your reaction.
"Hmm, I wonder..?"

toilet bound hanako-kun
headcannons of you being a minamoto sibling!
a/n: i tried to edit this to make it as gender neutral as possible! sorry for any mistakes—
tw/cw: none that i know of. . ?
Tumblr media
•You were the third eldest child of the exceptional exorcist family that is the Minamoto clan.
•As the third child of four, your two older brothers tended to baby you (especially the eldest, Teru). But you all had a habit of spoiling the littlest, Tiara.
•You were just beginning the whole exorcist business, and if you were being honest, you kind of just wanted all apparitions to move on peacefully. You mean, they all must have an attachment to the earthly plane for a reason, right? Most are tragic creatures who deserve that happy ending, who deserve to get to the afterlife and possible reincarnate when they're ready.
•Unsurprisingly, your views clashed with Teru's who simply believed (and bluntly told you) that all spirits are bad.
•Good thing for you, though, you and Kou have a much more sympathetic approach to exorcisms which enables you both to find out ways to do your future jobs while still sticking your morals and values.
•(You aren't completely related to the Minamoto family. You are more of a child caused by a drunk mishap and it's why you look so much different than the rest of your family. The only thing you share is their telling blond hair. [Even if it may be just random streaks/patches.] Even though you're technically a half blood in a way, the family took you in as if you were their full blood child as soon as you were born.)
•(Also, if you already have blond hair than congrats it's now from the Minamotos.)
•Anyways.
•You probably met Hanako by visiting the haunted bathroom either for some peace and quiet, or to check out if the rumor was true.
•You let out a heavy sigh before prying your heavy lids open only to be met with a pair of wide, glistening honeycomb eyes.
•(No Nene Universe—) Your eyes widened and you pushed up against the wall in surprise and stared at the boyish apparition.
•His lashes brushed gracefully atop his cheeks as he blinked mischievously at you, very much knowing how he was about to tease you. "Oh? Well, I guess you can see me. Especially how your eyes widened like a frightened kitten!"
•You stutter out, trying to ignore his previous comment, "Y-You must be H-Hanako-san!"
•He blinked in surprise, his smirk falling momentarily,"Well you caught on quick." It was quickly back up as soon as it dropped, however, and he continued, "And who are you to be able to see me?"
•You stood up on your two feet after still being sat cross legged from your initial meeting, "O-Oh, I'm sorry. My name is Minamoto (Name). It's nice to meet you, Hanako-san." You bowed respectfully.
•An exorcist? Saying it's nice to meet you to him? And bowing? Aren't you supposed to be already growling at him, ready to pounce like a feral dog? Especially since you're a Minamoto?
•Well, you haven't been rude to him, so there's no reason for him to be rude to you.
•"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, (Name)."
•(Nene Universe—) As soon as you made eye contact with the ghost, his eyes widened and he blurted out:
•"You're the half-breed!"
•you're the what
•He doesn't seem to care much at your deadpan reaction but inquires you, "You're Yashiro's friend, right? (Name), was it?" He floated backwards, giving you space to get up. He flashed you a mischievous grin, "Nice to meet ya, half-Minamoto!"
•Despite his obvious jabs at you, you politely smiled at him and bowed, "It's nice to meet you as well, Hanako-san."
•well now he feels bad
•You're just as kind as Yashiro said you were! Hanako should have known.
• "Sorry for barging into your space like this, I was looking for a quiet place to think and—"
• "It's fine, it's fine," he waved you off, "I was getting kind of bored here anyways."
•(Either way—)After that, you two become good friends. He learns more about you and has learned a lot about you, and you've learned a lot about him and how to handle him when he's not particularly feeling himself. (Hanako probably deals with a lot of episodes.)
•However, even though you never use your exorcism weapon on him, he still seals it in case of anything—
•When Kou first tried to exorcise Hanako, you watch as one of your older brother's is embarrassingly humiliated by the shorter yet more agile ghost.
•You explained your friendship with said ghost and while your brother also grew an attachment to Hanako, he still kind of wanted to exorcise him with some of the stuff that Hanako would say.
•Teru, though he knows he can't control you, he persists on telling you that apparitions are bad, that Hanako is bad. As your older brother and a skilled exorcist, you should be taking his advice!
•However, it's quite obvious that you don't, but he loves you regardless and just makes sure you don't get hurt on whatever path you take.
•Nene 100% talks about Teru all the time around you and asks about his hobbies, interests, disinterests, etc. and there's not much you can do other than awkwardly laugh off her questions or answer them with vague detail with little pleas like "haha, yashiro i love you but can we get back to the tutoring please?"
•Teru 8,000% keeps all yours, Kou's, and Tiara's growth records on that damned keyboard he carries around and Hanako knows it. All he wants to know is your measurements, dammit. But everytime he gets too close, Teru tries to exorcise him!! It's either Teru shows him or he finds out for himself!!!!
•You and Kou have a very easy dynamic with each other. A more reserved and quiet person matched with a rowdy and loud person truly balance each other out.
•You also 200% keep him from doing things too impulsively.
• However, if your personality leans more to Kou’s kind, you guys are packed with energy and just burn it off for hours together.
• You two bake and cook a lot, even if you're bad at it. He likes to teach you and totally praises you even if it looks like poop on a plate. Teru will as well [but that's expected].
•Because both you and Kou have a more sympathetic/empathetic approach to apparitions and ghost/the seven mysteries, you both are able to talk about your views on the ghosts without being shut down by an easy, yet stern "No💛" from Teru.
•You both do struggle with exorcism in its finest [and kind of it's base-est] form, so you both are generally on the same level when it comes to exorcism skills. You both kind of just grow together because there's a closer age gap between you both. You're just a little younger than him.
•He doesn't find the fact that you're not a "full-Minamoto" relevant at all. You're his little sibling?? Why should he care about anything else??? Kou loves you, and you guys are the most sibling joking rivalry you can get. Cares for you deeply, if he ever sees you get hurt he cries.
•In summary, you two are a great duo.
•Let's not forget Tiara however, she's the princess! You're always down to play with her or just spend time with her in general. She tends to like to play dolls and be read too [please read to her] and if you did things like this with her, she'd be elated.
•Constantly searching for her nii-samas (and nee-sama), when she finds you she will never let go.
•Depends on you for growth advice when she starts to grow up. Also kind of thinks of you as the next best thing for a mom. She never really got to meet her own mother, but you certainly act like how everyone said mother acted. Might have called you mom by accident once [most likely said it to Teru too.].
•Probably when you tucked her in and kissed her goodnight.
•Let her play with your hair! She's probably going to do it anyways, just get the inevitable out the way. Tiara doesn't care that you're from a different family as well, you're her big sibling! All she cares about is that you're still here and love her!! She's truly precious and loves you very much.)
•Precious baby sister loves you very much, and sees you lowkey as a parental unit.
•Teru loves all of his siblings. Loves to brag about you guys all. the. time.
• You got an A+ on your last exam? Congratulations, it's the only thing Akane-kun has heard in weeks.
•You sneezed like a kitten? Teru has it recorded and listens to it when he feels sad.
•Snorted milk through your nose? Teru's telling everyone who listens that you're the funniest person he knows.
•Dear lord, someone help this man—
•He's watched both you and Kou grow into your own people with your own paths, and definitely has some sort of data chart/document related to that.
•Now he just has Tiara as his baby girl🥺. Please never grow up Tiara, Teru will not be able to handle it.
•Jokes aside, Teru can be a bit protective of you and tends to monitor you. If you have anxiety and depression, definitely has mental health checks with you. Any disorder or so that you have, he does his best to elevate any stress caused by it.
•Will murder someone who confesses to you.
•In his eyes, you are still a baby sibling, one who looks up at him with those puppy eyes that he can't say no to. So this inevitably means he can tend to treat you like that.
•Just be a little pushy with him if he's getting on your nerves though, he'll catch himself.
•Ask him anything he doesn't want to tell you and he'll just smile, pat your head, and laugh awkwardly. The head pats he gives are fire though. Can't argue with that. He's probably been doing it for years, so it's a habit that's completely ingrained into him. He sees you and just *pats* Because it's just instinct at that point! He loves you very much, very very much. Cares for you deeply, and loves you regardless if you're a "half-breed."
•Eldest brother cannot get enough of his little siblings.
•Sibling antics can range from swapping out a skin oil for hot sauce to replacing underwear with thongs.
•Sometimes, Teru wonders where he went wrong.
•Kou can, and will, over-salt or spice something if he feels like messing with you. You can bite into a cake and crap later like you just ate Taco Bell.
•You and Kou also have a tendency to rough house. Sometimes they'll be little smacks and punches just because or even bites [this is you. you started biting Kou and Teru and now Tiara mimicked you, much to their dismay.] and it'll turn into a full on wrestling match in the living room.
•Normally it ends in a draw or until someone calls uncle. Actually, it usually just has to stay a draw because you are just as stubborn as any other Minamoto and will fight your brother to the death if he so pleases.
•Kou and you are evenly matched, however, Teru likes to join in on the fun sometimes too. Since technically Teru equals like 10 people in both strength and skill, you and Kou have to work together to take him down. Teru doesn't say it [but it's probably on his face, let's be honest] but he loves how you both suddenly get so serious and start to strategize how to take the eldest down.
•Unfortunately, you both lose to Teru regardless.
•Unmatched king— Sometimes, little Tiara will join in! She likes to ref instead so she can give you and Kou pity points when Teru has too much of the upper hand. Other times, she'll join in herself! Of course, this is when you guys tone it down from death match to play fighting. You guys make rough her up a little bit by little pushes and throwing her up in the air, but that's it as none of you want to bruise the princess—
•No one really can tell that you are a Minamoto at school since the only telltale sign is your complete/streaks of/patches of blond hair. Everyone just chalks up the same last name as a coincidence.
•Those assumptions start to crumble as they watch you walk in with the other Minamoto siblings and eat from the same themed lunch boxes and even are seen hanging out at the most random of times.
•(Nene at least once tried to get you to hook her up with Teru. You just smiled and laughed awkwardly.)
•Hanako jokes about how you aren't nearly as intimidating as the "big dog" (Teru) and the "yapping pomeranian" (Kou).
•("Yapping Pomeranian?" You blinked. Hanako waved his hand as he explained like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "Uh, duh? Because all that kid does is yap! All bark no bite!")
•(". . . is this because you're still mad he didn't let you watch porn on his phone again?" "My business is my business!")
•All jokes aside and such, you are a great and perfect puzzle piece added to the jigsaw puzzle that is the Minamoto dynasty.

Diabolik Lovers LUNATIC PARADE ;; Kanato Route ー Chapter 2
Tumblr media
ー The scene starts on Glimmer Main Street
Kanato: Hey, Yui-san. How have you been feeling ever since?
Yui: Oh, I’m totally fine now.
I’m sorry for making you worried back then.
Kanato: No...By the way, I found out exactly why you collapsed.
Yui: Eh? Really?
Kanato: Yes. I borrowed the phone at the hotel to confirm with Reiji.
It appears that the Kleinod inside of you is actually alive.
Yui: Alive!? What exactly does that mean...?
Kanato: Well...
Monologue
In response to my surprised reaction,
Kanato-kun thoroughly explained,
every bit of information he received from Reiji-san.
Because the Kleinod is a living matter,
there might be instances,
when I suddenly start feeling sick,
similar to the one time I fainted.
Furthermore, the Kleinod is a special crystal,
dug up from one of the craters,
of the Smarago Volcano located in this city.
They say that it was created from the remains,
of an Eagle after its passing.
This crystal is kept hidden,
inside the Eagle’s nest,
and is said to be the Eagle’s precious treasure.
That is how its connection to jewels was established,
as well as what granted it the name ‘Kleinod’.
Not even Kanato-kun, who explained all of this to me,
has ever seen said Eagle, or so he claims.
Even though he lived in the Demon World for so many years...
Yui: ( Anything can happen here in the Demon World, huh...? )
Kanato: Why are you spacing out? You’ll get left behind.
Yui: ーー Ah...I’m sorry!
ー She quickly catches up to him
Yui: But, Kanato-kun...Where are we headed next?
( I’m the one who offered to look for the Butler but... )
( Simply wandering around the entire city without a clear destination in mind sounds like a lot of work. )
Kanato: I figured we could start by meeting up with this city’s information source.
Yui: Information source...?
Kanato: You’ll find out once you follow me. Let’s go.
ー The scene shifts to Aizen Alley
Yui: Where are we...?
Kanato: This is Aizen Alley. Our destination is at the very end of this street just around this corner.
You can already see its name plate in the distance, see?
Yui: Name plate...Ah!
( ‘General Store Reine de Aji’...? I feel as if I’ve heard about a store with a similar name before...? )
Kanato: It’s a general store run by the younger sister of Reine de Saba, who has her own shop in the city we visited during the Carnival.
Yui: Heeh, I see!
( No wonder it rang a bell... )
Kanato: I thought she might know something about the Butler as well. She knows everything about everyone in this city after all.
Yui: ( I wonder what she’s like? I just hope we can get some information from her... )
ー They enter the store
Yui: P-Pardon the intrusion...
( This store seems a little shady... )
Kanato: Please wait here. I’ll go look for Aji.
Yui: Eh? ...Kanato-kun!?
ー He walks away
Yui: ( ...He left. )
( What should I do...? I guess I’ll use this opportunity to look around the shop. )
( But Kanato-kun told me to stay put... )
Selection
→ Look around the shop
Yui: ( We didn’t come to the Parade for nothing, so I should be allowed to look around for a bit, right? )
ー She looks around
Yui: ( Everything looks so creepy...Seems like these are all goods for black magic... )
( I can’t believe the owner of this store is our best bet for information...Will Kanato-kun be okay? )
→ Wait patiently (☾)
Yui: ( I’ll wait like Kanato-kun told me to. )
( I shouldn’t cause him any more trouble after all. )
( Besides, it looks like this store carries mostly strange items, so I feel like it’d be in my best interest to keep my distance. )
*Thud*
Yui: Ah, this small bottle...
( Is this what made a sound just now? There’s glistening sand inside, it’s very pretty...! )
( Maybe I should grab it and have a closer look? But... ーー )
???: ーー You. Do you need anything from my store?
Yui: Kyah!? I-I’m so sorry...!
( She suddenly jumped out in front of me!? )
ー Kanato rushes back
Kanato: ーー Yui-san!? What’s wrong!?
Yui: K-Kanato-kun...
Kanato: Hm? You are...
???: Well, well, who do we have here...You’re Karlheinz-sama’s young Lad (1), aren’t you?
Kanato: Please do not call me that. ...Aji.
Yui: Eh? This woman is...!?
Reine de Aji: Haha...Exactly, I am Reine de Aji, Young Lady.
And? What brings you all the way over here today?
I’m not sure if this is the kind of store a cute Young Lady and the Sakamaki’s Young Master would want to visit...
Kanato: We’re looking for Count Walter’s Butler.
Do you have an idea where he might be?
Reine de Aji: ...You tell me...
Kanato: ...Tsk. Please don’t dodge the question...!
Yui: U-Um...I’m begging you. We have to meet him no matter what...!
Reine de Aji: ...Well, it’s up to you two whether I give you the information you want or not...Hahaha...
*Rustle rustle*
Yui: ( She extended her hand...? So basically...? )
Kanato: Your information doesn’t come for free. ...Correct?
Reine de Aji: Haha...I’m glad you seem to know how the world works, Lad.
Kanato: ...What is it you want exactly?
Reine de Aji: Let me think...Perhaps you could get me a slice of the Forbidden Apple Pie?
Yui: The Forbidden Apple Pie...?
Reine de Aji: They’re sold only during the Parade at one of the food trucks near Diamante Fountain.
I’ve always wanted to try it...
Kanato: ...Oh. That’s all you want? I will get you one of those in no time.
You’ll tell us everything you know about the Butler if we bring you the apple pie, correct?
Reine de Aji: ...Haha...
Yui: Um, excuse me...?
( I wonder why she suddenly chuckled? )
Kanato: Let’s go. We’re simply wasting our time by talking to her.
Yui: O-Okay...
ー The two of them leave the store
Reine de Aji: ...Fufu...
I wonder how they’ll fare...
ー The scene shifts back to Glimmer Main Street
Yui: Hey, Kanato-kun. Diamante Fountain should be straight ahead, right?
Kanato: According to the map, yes.
Yui: ...Listen, the people walking on this road...
Kanato: Yes. They all seem to be heading towards the same place.
Female Vampire C: Hey! Can’t you run a little faster? There will be no Apple Pie left for us!
Male Vampire D: Don’t blame me! It’s just too crowded!
*THUD*
Yui: ーー Kyah!?
( T-Those people just now... )
Don’t tell me, everyone here is on their way to get the Forbidden Apple Pie...!?
Kanato: ...That seems highly likely. We should make haste as well.
*TIMESKIP*
ーThe scene shifts to Diamante Fountain
Kanato: ーー What’s with this sea of people...!?
Yui: ( Are all these people lined up to buy apple pie...!? )
Male Vampire D: Wow...This is too much, don’t you think?
Female Vampire C: What did you expect? It’s the Forbidden Apple Pie made from the forbidden fruit!
We’re too late because you were so slow.
Male Vampire D: Didn’t you hear me when I said sorry earlier!?
Female Vampire C: God! There’s no way we’ll be amongst the first ten customers now!
Ahーah. Guess I’ll just have to make do with the usual cake then...
ー The two Vampires walk away
Kanato: ...
Yui: ( An apple pie made from the forbidden fruit...And it’s limited to only the first ten customers... )
( With this many people, there’s no point in getting in line now. )
Kanato-kun...What should we do?
Kanato: What do you mean...? We have no other choice but to give up...
Yui: ...Yeah...Guess you’re right...
( We’re back to square one. What now...? )
*TIMESKIP*
Tumblr media
Yui: Hey, Kanato-kun. This smoothie is really good, you know?
Kanato: ...
Yui: ( He won’t speak a word to me... )
( I guess he’s still in shock after we failed to get our hands on the Forbidden Apple Pie... )
Kanato: I’m baffled you can act like nothing happened.
Yui: Eh...?
Kanato: I mean, aren’t I right?
If we don’t get hold of a slice of that pie, then all hope is lost to even get a clue as to how we’re going to get your heart back...
Yui: ...Yeah...You’re right, but...
Kanato: ...In that case, I guess I have no other choice but to abuse Father’s authority.
Yui: Y-You can’t do that...!
Kanato: Why not?
Yui: Well...It doesn’t seem fair.
Kanato: ...I don’t understand that.
I believe that sometimes one has to play dirty to get what they really want.
Yui: I do think you make a valid point as well.
However, I don’t like the idea of having to hurt others in the process...
...Don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll be able to find the Butler. So let’s try and think of another way?
Kanato: ...
You really are a fool.
Yui: ...Yeah, maybe.
Kanato: However, I don’t dislike the way you think.
Yui: Kanato-kun...
Kanato: ...Talking has made me thirsty.
I guess I’ll have no other choice but to try this drink you got for me.
Yui: Yeah...Thanks!
*Rustle*
Kanato: ...Nn...Ah, you’re right...
It’s just like you said. This smoothie is very good, isn’t it?
Yui: Fufu, I’m glad you like it...!
( We weren’t able to buy the apple pie but... )
( I strongly believe the two of us will be able to find the Butler...! )
Kanato: ...That being said, those children are so noisy. They’re ruining our conversation...
Yui: Don’t say that.
Kanato: I wonder if they’re playing tag? Very childish, or rather...
Boy: Oiー This way, over here!
Come on, this way! ...Uwah!?
*Thud*
Yui: Kyah!?
*SPLASH*
Yui: ( Ah! The smoothie got on my clothes...!? )
Boy: Ah, I...I...
Kanato: Excuse me? Isn’t there anything you want to say? Take a look. Her clothes got dirty.
Yui: K-Kanato-kun...! You don’t need to be so harsh...
Kanato: It’s fine. It only makes sense to apologize after doing something wrong, no?
Yui: B-But...
Kanato: Hey, you over there. You better give her a proper apology.
Boy: ...Uu...Uu...Uwaaaahーー!!
Kanato: ...Hey...!
Yui: ( Kanato-kun seems troubled...I have to get the child to stop crying somehow. )
Boy: Uu...Sniffle...
Yui: L-Listen...I’m okay, really.
I’m sure I’ll be able to remove the stains by wiping them down with a handkerchief...It’s no big deal.
*Rustle*
Yui: So don’t cry? Okay?
Boy: ...Uu...
Yui: Good boy, you stopped crying. See? I’m not mad, am I?
Boy: Haah...Yeah...
Kanato: ...Are you finally done crying?
Yui: K-Kanato-kun! You shouldn’t say that.
...Ah, don’t worry about him, okay? He’s not actually mad at you either.
Boy: ...Yeah, I know. ーー ...B-But...
Yui: Hm? What’s wrong?
Boy: ...Miss...and you too, Mister...I’m sorry!
ー The boy runs off
Yui: Ah, wait...!
( There he goes... )
...Um, Kanato-kun? I’m sorry for causing you trouble again. I’ll clean my clothes by myself, don’t worry...
Kanato: ...It’s one thing after the other.
Yui: Eh...?
Kanato: Not only were we unable to get the apple pie,  but you spilled your drink all over yourself after having some kid bump into you...
They say that misfortune comes trice in a row, right? Which means that one more bad thing will happen.
Yui: Hmー I don’t like the sound of that...
Kanato: ...All we can do to try and prevent it is be careful.
Yui: Yeah, good point...
Kanato: Well, I suppose there is no point in stressing out over it. We should do something about your clothes before we decide our next step.
Yui: ...Ah, right.
Kanato: Come on, hand me the handkerchief. I’ll wipe it clean.
Yui: Eh? But...
Kanato: No ‘buts’, just keep still. If you do it yourself, you will only make the stain worse.
Yui: Thank you...I suppose I’ll leave it up to you then.
*Rustle rustle*
*TIMESKIP*
Kanato: ...Well then, what should we do next?
Yui: Yeah...We don’t have a single clue...
Kanato: I wonder why that Count took your heart in the first place.
If he only wanted the heart, he could have simply stolen it and called it a day.
Yet, he went through the extra effort to put the Kleinod inside of you...I wonder if he did that with a certain goal in mind?
Yui: ...You do have a point. I wonder why he kept me alive...?
( It’s terrifying knowing that I was nearly killed without realizing it at all. )
( ...! I shouldn’t think about that... )
ー Someone walks up to them
???: Hey, you two!
Kanato: What do you want...?
Yui: ( Who could this guy be...? Wait, ah...That boy hiding behind him is...! )
Man: When I heard from my son that he accidentally stained this lady’s clothes, I simply couldn’t let it pass...
My apologies. It appears that my boy caused you trouble...
Boy: Miss...I really am sorry about what happened earlier...
Yui: Oh no...Please don’t apologize. Look, the stains are all gone? ...I don’t mind.
You don’t either, do you, Kanato-kun?
Kanato: Eh? Well...
Man: ...I am surprised by your tolerant mindset...!
There are very few out there who are able to forgive someone for their wrongdoings with a smile on their face!
Not often do you come across one nowadays, but you are a Vampire with a pure heart.
Yui: Eh? Vampire!?
( These people...They’ve got the wrong idea of me!? )
Man: This represents my feelings of remorse. Please accept it.
*Rustle*
Yui: N-No way! I can’t take it...
Man: Come on, don’t be modest!
Yui: Eh? Ah...Thank you very much...
Man: No need to thank me. We’re the ones who caused you trouble after all.
Boy: See you later, Miss, Mister!
ー The boy and his father leave
Yui: ( ...They left. )
Kanato: Hey, that box...It’s very small, but what is inside?
Yui: Hmー I wonder?
Kanato: Let’s take a look inside. Give that to me for a second.
*Rustle rustle*
Yui: Eh? Kanato-kun...!
*Rustle*
Yui: ( Ah...He opened it... )
Kanato: ...Is this...?
Yui: Eh? ...Ah!
( Is this the Forbidden Apple Pie we’ve been looking for!? )
Yui: Then...That must have been the store’s owner and his son...?
Kanato: Seems like it.
Yui: ( So miracles do happen... )
Kanato: ...Amazing.
I always believed it was pointless to be kind to others...
However, there actually is a point after all. I believe I experienced that first-hand for the first time today.
Yui: ...
( ...But, is this really okay? We got something so valuable... )
Kanato: Yui-san? Is something the matter?
Yui: Hey, Kanato-kun. Let’s give this back after all.
Kanato: Hah...? What are you saying?
Yui: I mean, I...I was never kind to that boy because I was hoping to get something in return.
Besides, the owner seemed to mistakenly believe that I’m a Vampire...
I’m sure he wouldn’t have given me something so precious if he knew I’m actually a human.
Kanato: Are you stupid? This is what we’ve been looking for this whole time!
For one, it’s a gift, so all you need to do is accept it.
So why would we need to return it!?
Yui: ...But...I just can’t accept it...
I’ll go to the shop to give it back! You just wait heーー
*Thud*
Yui: Kyah!?
Kanato: ーー You can’t! I won’t let you!!
Yui: Ah...!
( He stole the box with the apple pie!? )
ー Kanato runs away
Yui: ...! Kanato-kun!
( Oh no! I better chase after him! )
ー The scene shifts to Rubien Canal
Yui: ( Kanato-kun...I’m pretty sure he should be somewhere around here... )
ー Yui spots him
Yui: ( There he is...! )
Wait, Kanato-kun!
Kanato: ーー !
Yui: Where are you taking that!? We have to return it to those two!
Kanato: Shut up! This is for your own good!
*Thud*
*Splash*
Yui: ( Ah! He got on the gondola...! )
Wait! Don’t go!!
ー Yui rushes to the side of the river but she is too late
Yui: ...Haah...
( I couldn’t make it on time...What now...? )
( I know that Kanato-kun is doing this for my sake... )
( However, it doesn’t feel right to me to accept the Forbidden Apple Pie for such selfish reasons... (2) )
???: ーー Ah, Miss!
Yui: Eh!?
ー The boy approaches her
Yui: ( Ah...This boy, he’s the owner’s...! )
The Owner’s Son: Miss, are you by yourself now?
Yui: ...Yeah. I am.
The Owner’s Son: Say, did you look inside the box we gave you earlier?
Yui: Ah...It’s the Forbidden Apple Pie, right? About that...
The Owner’s Son: Don’t tell me, did you already eat it...?
Yui: N-No! Actually...The Mister ran off with it.
The Owner’s Son: Eh? He did...?
...I see. Thank god.
Yui: What do you mean...?
The Owner’s Son: You see...I’ve been keeping this a secret but, that’s a Forbidden Apple Pie made from poisoned apples.
Yui: ーー !?
The Owner’s Son: ...Father told me.
If you are truly a good person inside, you would definitely return it to us.
And that only such a person would have the right to eat the true Forbidden Apple Pie...
Yui: ( Then I was being tested by the owner...? )
ーー Kanato-kun...!
The Owner’s Son: ...Miss?
Yui: I’m sorry! I have to go...!
( I better catch up to him! I’m sure he’s heading towards Aji-san’s store! )
ー Yui runs off
The Owner’s Son: Miss! Even if it’s a poisoned apple, it won’t kill you, so don’t worry!
...
ー His Father walks up to him
Owner: ...
The Owner’s Son: ...Was that okay?
*WOOSH*
Mystery man: ...Yes...
You played the part perfectly. My sincere gratitude.
Fufu...I wonder if they will be able to get back what is important to them...?
*TIMESKIP*
ー The scene shifts to Aizen Alley
Kanato: ...Ugh...
Monologue
I’ve been on edge ever since.
Because I simply failed to comprehend,
why she would want to return the gift.
The Forbidden Apple Pie currently in my possession,
we were only able to get our hands on,
because she showed her kind heart.
However, if I give this to Aji,
she will tell us where the Butler is.
...In which case, we should accept it.
If we keep on doing what is ‘right’,
we could spend day and night,
and still not find the Butler.
She is just an idiot, and too kind for her own good.
I wonder,
is that what defines a truly good person?
I’m not sure. I can’t understand.
Kanato: ( ...Nevermind. I’m just wasting my time trying to figure this out. )
( Right now, I should hand this to Aji and ask her about the Butler’s location. )
( She doesn’t agree with me but this will eventually benefit her. )
ー Kanato enters the store
*Creaaak*
Kanato: ...Aji. I brought the promised goods.
Reine de Aji: Heeh...As to be expected of the Sakamaki’s Young Master. I’m surprised you managed to get your hands on it.
So? The Young Lady from earlier doesn’t seem to be with you...?
Kanato: ...That doesn’t matter, does it?
Reine de Aji: Aah, right! It’s such a great opportunity, so why don’t we enjoy this pie together?
Kanato: Eh...?
Reine de Aji: You worked hard to get it, didn’t you? I’m sure you’d like to have at least one bite too?
Kanato: ...
( ...Of course, I do. However, I can’t say that out loud. )
( I wonder why? Why do I feel so conflicted inside? )
( I wonder if it’s because I didn’t do anything to deserve this pie? Is that why I feel so reluctant to try it...? )
( ...Aah, I understand now. That’s what it is... )
( I finally understand what she was trying to say. )
( She must have felt the exact same back then... )
Reine de Aji: So? What’s your answer, boy?
Kanato: ...No. I’ll pass.
Reine de Aji: I see. What a shame...
I guess I’ll eat it all myself then...Hehe...
*Rustle*
Reine de Aji: Aah...! This is exactly what I have been looking for!
A perfect balance between tart and sweet...A taste so addictive, just one bite will make you it’s captive...
Well then, let me try it already...
Kanato: ーー Please wait. Tell me where the Butler is first.
Reine de Aji: Hm? What are you talking about?
Kanato: ...Hah? What are you saying? This is not what you promised!
Reine de Aji: I don’t remember ever making such a promise?
Kanato: ...Don’t play dumb! How could you!?
Reine de Aji: If you’re so certain of your point, then show me some actual proof? I just told you I don’t remember such a promise.
Kanato: That’s low! How am I supposed to prove it...!?
Just tell me already! Where is that Butler!?
Reine de Aji: Fufu, I’m not obligated to tell you. You’ve only got yourself to blame for misinterpreting my words.
Kanato: ...Ugh...
( ...I’m a fool. I left her behind to come here, yet I was being deceived all along... )
ー The scene shifts back to Aizen Alley
Yui: ...Haah...haah...
( Please...Please let me make it on time...! )
ー Yui bursts into the store
Yui: ーー Kanato-kun!
Kanato: ...!? Yui-san...
Yui: ( Ah...! Aji-san is holding the apple pie...! )
Wait! Don’t eat that!!
Reine de Aji: Oh my, Young Lady. You want this as well?
But that won’t work...I doubt I will ever get a second chance at obtaining something so precious.
Yui: You’re wrong! That’s not it!
Anyway, just don’t eat it, please!
Reine de Aji: What a nosy lady you are. You’re not getting this...Nn...
Yui: Ah!
ー Yui rushes over to Aji
*Rustle*
Yui: Spit it out right now! That pie is made from poisoned apples!!
Kanato: Eh...!?
Reine de Aji: ーー !? Bleh...!! Cough, cough...
*Splat*
Yui: ...Haah...Thank god, I made it in time...
Reine de Aji: Uu...Cough, cough. Young Lady...Explain yourself...
Yui: Well...I’m sorry!
What we got was the Forbidden Poisoned Apple Pie.
Kanato: ...!? What do you mean!? So basically we were tricked!?
Yui: ...As soon as the boy told me...I just couldn’t sit still.
Reine de Aji: You’re speaking the truth, right?
Aren’t you simply trying to deceive me because you want to eat the pie yourself?
Yui: It’s the truth!
Reine de Aji: ...
Yui: Would you please believe me?
Reine de Aji: Haah...Those aren’t the eyes of someone who is lying...
Yui: I’m truly sorry that it seems like we deceived you.
Reine de Aji: ...No, I’m the one who should apologize.
Yui: Eh?
Reine de Aji: I just told the Young Lad earlier...
I never intended to tell you the Butler’s whereabouts at all.
Yui: I see...
Reine de Aji: ...However, I didn’t think some little girl would end up saving my life.
I do feel somewhat grateful.
Yui: Don’t mention it...
Reine de Aji: ...The Butler might just be hanging out around the Mountains...
Yui: Eh!?
Reine de Aji: He’s crazy about medicinal herbs.
Whenever the Count is absent from the castle, he makes his way to the Mountains in search of rare herbs and plants.
I advise you head towards Smarago Mountain. I’m fairly certain you’ll find him there.
Yui: Thank you so much...!
( Thank god! This brings us one step closer to our goal...! )
Kanato: ...
Yui: ...Let’s go, Kanato-kun.
Kanato: ...Sure.
ー The scene shifts to Aizen Alley
Kanato: ...
Yui: ( I wonder if he feels a little awkward after how we parted ways earlier. )
( I’m not upset about it, but how should I convey that to him...? )
Kanato: ...Hey, Yui-san?
Yui: Yes, what’s wrong?
Kanato: ...I don’t feel bad for what I did.
Yui: Fufu, I know.
( He’s being stubborn with his words, but his eyes seem apologetic... )
( He struggles so much to just be honest with himself... )
Kanato: ...
*Rustle*
Yui: Ah...
( His hand is...!? )
Kanato: I don’t dislike how direct and foolishly genuine you are at times.
...Although I might only feel that way because it’s you.
Yui: ...Kanato-kun...
Kanato: ...How odd. I feel like I’m not being myself.
Your behavior might have rubbed off on me.
Say, do you dislike this side of me?
Yui: Oh no, not at all. I love all sides of you.
Kanato: ...Fufu. I see. It’s fine then.
Let’s head back to the hotel before we head towards Smarago Mountain and rest up.
I’m worried about your Kleinod as well after all.
Yui: ...Yes, thank you.
ーー TO BE CONTINUED ーー
Translation notes
(1) Aji refers to Kanato as 坊ちゃん or ‘bocchan’ which is often translates as ‘Young Master’. The butlers and maids at the Sakamaki castle use this to refer to the Sakamaki’s when they were younger (e.g. in MB flashbacks) but in Aji’s case, she seems to use it in more of a mocking way to imply that Kanato is still a young boy and not a real man.
(1) 後ろ暗い or ‘ushiro-gurai’ literally means ‘underhanded’ or ‘shady’. However, I didn’t quite feel like that fit in this case, so I put ‘selfish’ instead, since they want the pie to be able to get a clue to getting back Yui’s heart.
