A fanfic???
Hello y’all, uhm, I guess I am writing a fanfic, it is kind of dark at some point and I think I hate it, but I want to complete it... Would anyone would be interested? I will post some kind of prologue/plot but please if it does not sound right it is because I wrote it first on Spanish and then translated it, so.. ??? By the way, this has ships but not really? It is just a big mess?

English: Raimond is a pretty calm town. After I got back from rehab I realized that the summer was over, the car I was in was doing sixty miles per hour and the wind was hitting my face, blowing my hair back. I looked in the car mirror and thought I should shave again. Maybe a change of style would do me better, you know to keep up appearances. I clenched my fists and winced, stupid to think that I should hold onto an image if I didn't even have a good one to begin with. Honestly this place was stupid, people really had no problem making fun of each other, everyone was twisted. As we passed the road that would take us home through the window I could see a beautiful girl in a pink skirt and a long blue hair that cascaded down to her waist, I smiled and thought maybe I could talk to her in the future. You could tell she wasn't from here. "She's new," my younger sister blurted out, reading my expression. I just nodded. Once I put one foot on the ground, looking at the house where I lived, a memory came to my mind. The image of the velvet curtain that I clung to to keep from falling, the blood that was spilling on the cut of a bottle and the feeling that when I vomited my soul was separated from my body made me tremble. I shook my head to try to chase those thoughts away. My mother, who had been silent the whole way, took me softly by the neck and gave me a kiss on the forehead. “Welcome back, Akio”. "Now we can start over.” I agreed without saying anything, but I promised that I would behave myself for the first few days. I didn't even believe it, but everything was going to be okay, I guess. "Let's watch that movie you told me about," I told her, my voice hoarse. It was still a little early, but I didn't have much to do that day. My mother turned around and smiled. "Of course". She answered to walk to the living room. What you should know, is that this town is a little different… It's full of crazy people and many, many stupid teenagers. If I could get the hell out of here, I would, however my mother was the only thing I had left and honestly, I'd rather put up with this bunch of idiots than abandon her. That's how I found myself walking towards Raimond University, a public university full of teenagers, just as he had described them before, crazy and stupid. "Oh, my God. Are you alive?" Someone to my right asked, I just stuck my middle finger out in a disgusted gesture. Did they think that the great Akio Fudou would fall so easily? Nonsense. When I got to the first class, many people turned to look at me, the people with a couple of functional neurons were afraid of me enough not to ask, but their eyes were on me. "Many people are looking at you, so there are only two choices, either you did something stupidly brave or you did something bravely stupid". Mentioned the person behind. I turned to see who it was and I found a guy with very long pink hair and tanned skin. He had an irritating smile and his great joy caused me some uncertainty, but I knew this idiot since the beginning of last year. "Man, I'm glad you're okay, welcome back." He patted me on the back and I grumbled asking him not to touch me. “Believe me, it's such a great honor to be back.” I said sarcastically, emphasizing the word great. "Well, you have to accept that you're better off here than rehab anyway." I agreed to that, of course it was better. "How long have you been clean?". "Six months" I replied, I heard a snort that turned into a small laugh and I shook my head. Someone, anyone, get me out of here.

For Kauri and Chris: it doesn't work as well as you hoped, does it?
(follows Time Apart)
CW: Former pet whumpee, past noncon references, fucky headspace around consent and SERIOUSLY misconstrued response to assault, some hardcore angst going on here, internalized victim-blaming
Chris feels fingers move through his hair, gently sweeping the shaggy copper to one side, and opens his eyes to see Kauri leaning over him. His wide blue eyes are warm, understanding.
"I saw Laken leave," Kauri says, gentle, and sits next to where Chris has curled up on his side on his bed. His fingers continue to run through Chris's hair, tingling over his scalp, a soft and subtle reassurance, words he doesn't have to hear. You are good, you are a good boy. "You want to tell me what happened?"
Chris closes his eyes again, turning his face to his sheets, to the faint scent of laundry detergent and the soft rustle of them against his skin. He tries not to see Laken's face, reddened and wet with tears, as they walked away. "We, we broke up."
Kauri's fingers pause - and then start up again, the moment so barely-there that even Chris almost misses it. "You broke up? Did they break up with you, or you with them?"
"Um. I, I, I thought they broke up with, um, with with me but then when they came over, they hadn't? But we just-... I, I broke... I broke up with them." His voice trembles, throat threatening to close up around the words, and he exhales, rocking himself forward and back where he lays, rubbing his hands reflexively over the seams of his pants, seeking out the soothing feeling of the texture there. "I told them I, I, I can't be with them anymore. I made them go."
This can't be the end, Chris. Not like this. Laken looked like he'd slapped them, their face pale and red both at once, eyes wide, dark pools demanding he take it back. This can't be the end of the line for us.
Then, then, then what is? Just, just go. I don't-... I don't, don't, don't want this any longer, for you. You shouldn't-... I, I, I'm... just go home, Laken. You shouldn't, shouldn't have, have wanted a whore anyway.
Chris. You know you're not-
I know I am! I, I, I almost had-... I almost-... I almost cheated on you last night!
Laken had swallowed, lips barely moving. You what?
I let, I, I, I let someone touch me, and it felt good, you know? It felt good. I, I, I got-... I, I got turned on by it. Like a fucking- He'd heard Handler Petrus in his mind, felt him against his back, the weight and heat of him, whispering into his ear while he sobbed. I'm still just a fucking slut. I'm, I'm, I'm still what I was, and it won't ever stop and-... just fucking go, Laken! Just get out and, and, and and and and-... and, and-
Chris, please-
Just fucking go home!
Chris-... baby, god damn it, I don't care if you-
But I do! Get the fuck away from me!
They'd left. Chris had listened to their footsteps running down the stairs and out the door, heard their car pull out of the driveway, and he'd cried into his pillow until it was damp, until he couldn't hear their car any longer. His phone buzzed twice, a text from Ben and another one from Akio, but he didn't answer.
He didn't answer when they called after that.
He didn't answer Jake calling to him from downstairs, he didn't answer Antoni in the doorway, he didn't answer any of them at all. He just stayed right here, on his bed, and knocked his head into a pillow he held against the wall until he calmed down enough to stop.
And then he cried more.
His head pounds, a dull throb, and he feels dried out from all the tears. Like he'd been crusted with salt, like his professor who told the story about Lot's wife and Orpheus and Eurydice. Don't look back or you'll turn to salt, you'll go back down into the empty places alone.
He can't not look back.
He groans, smacking himself on the thighs reflexively, repeatedly, as if he can stop his thoughts that way.
Kauri doesn't try to stop him, only pulls his hand back to give Chris the space to move. "Did you want to break up with them?" He asks, simply. His voice is calm.
"No. Yes. I, I don't know." The seams of his pants aren't enough, and Chris breathes against the sense of a chaos inside of himself, a swirling mix of self-hatred and grief. His hands move up to tap on his stomach. Finger-twist-tap-tap-tap. It doesn't help as much as he needs it to. "I didn't... want them to, to, to have to be with me."
"I think Laken is capable of making that choice for themself." Kauri sits slowly back against the headboard, breathing out, his eyes moving over the messy contents of the bedroom. The pictures Chris has taped haphazardly up on the walls, the shelf with his stim toys on it, his computer on the desk half-buried in a pile of clean clothes he hasn't folded. "If they want to be with you, that's their decision. Do you want to be with them?"
Chris wants to say yes, but the word sticks in his throat. His heart pounds inside him, all out of rhythm. He just nods against his sheets, and feels Kauri brush fingers through his hair again. "But, but, but, but I'm, I'm not worth it, I'm t-too hard, I'm still a, a, a pet too much."
There's a silence. Then, "Is that what you really think?"
He'd love to be able to say no. He'd love to be able to say he's being dramatic. But instead, in a small, soft voice, Chris whispers, "I just. I just. I, I, I don't know a-any-anymore. I... Yes."
Kauri is quiet, and then his hands are on Chris's face, wiping away with his thumb a tear Chris hadn't even realized had escaped. Chris had flinched from the same gesture when Laken did it, but he holds for Kauri.
"Oh, honey. I used to think that, too." Kauri sighs, and Chris opens his eyes, looking up at him, seeing a faraway expression.
He shifts, moving to rest his head on Kauri's thigh, a silent request for the petting through his hair to begin again.
Kauri smiles, a little faintly, a little sad. His fingers move over Chris's scalp, settle over the top of his scar, start again. "I did that for years, Chris. I told myself I was a pet, just another Romantic, that I deserved everything I did to myself and I didn't deserve anything better. I woke up in alleyways and on park benches and sometimes in the beds of guys I couldn't remember meeting. I got... I got hurt by some of them, and I told myself it was what I wanted. I got drugged a few times, I drugged myself a bunch more. I tried to make myself not want to be cared about anymore."
Chris thinks about the taste of gin and olives down his throat, throwing back dirty martinis until he threw them back up again, until he couldn't stop hearing Sir's voice inside his head, feeling his lips against the back of his neck. Hands on his hips, phantom ghost touch, moving him into position.
"It... didn't work as well as I'd hoped. Every time I told myself I didn't deserve love, even when I believed it... that didn't mean I didn't still want it. Need it, even. But I wanted, so badly-..." Kauri's voice catches, and his eyes close, briefly, as he steadies himself. "I wanted to make sure everyone around me hated me as much as I hated myself. But God, Chris, it hurts so much to live that way. Don't... don't be like me. It took me years to realize I didn't deserve that pain, that I didn't deserve to be punished for leaving Owen."
Chris is silent, now. Kauri's voice is always almost hypnotizing, deep and a little melodic, and it settles some of the buzzing awful noise inside of him.
"I had to learn-... to accept... that what happened to me makes up a lot of who I am, because it was the thing that made me, but it isn't all of who I am. And if I keep repeating the patterns I came up with to protect myself... I'm not really protecting myself at all." Kauri smiles, a little. "I'm only laying siege to myself, and I'm the only one who starves inside the walls. I-... I built those walls, and Jake kept trying to knock them down, and I kept building them higher. And Nat would throw food over the wall, and I'd throw it back. And... I think I got a little off track. My point is that... is that I shattered myself, over and over again, because shattered is what I was taught to be. But eventually I had to admit that breaking myself into pieces was just cutting me up, not anyone else. Do you understand?"
Chris swallows, his throat opening a little bit, and he hums. Kauri's leg is warm against his ear and his cheek, his hand is warm over his hair. Chris grips onto the silicone feather he wears always on a cord around his neck and runs it over his lips, feeling the carved vanes move against thin, sensitive skin. "Kind of."
"You try to see the light in everything," Kauri says, and the love in his voice makes Chris smile despite all his pain. "That's always been what made you stronger than me, Chris. You saw the world as full of good things you were here to discover. You never hated yourself like I did. I don't want you to start now."
"How... how did you, um, did you learn to to to stop?"
Another long exhale. Outside, two birds are singing in the trees. "Time, mostly," Kauri says, finally. "And... that guy I went home with once, when I came back all... fucked up. Remember that?"
"Y, yeah."
"I realized... I realized, when Jake was helping me up the stairs, that every time I tried to push him away, he was still there. And every time I hurt him, or Nat, or Antoni, they were still there. And that you were-... you were so new, Chris, and I was teaching you this really awful idea that you can't get better, and I couldn't do that any longer. I couldn't. It's not instant, and there are backslides, and some days getting out of bed is the hardest thing I've ever done. But I do, because I love the life I've made, and I know you love yours. You worked so hard for this, Chris, for everything you are and you've done since you came to live with Nat. Don't give that up because... because you're struggling. Don't let them win by convincing you you can't be anything else."
"I'm so-... it feels like a shell," Chris says, and pushes himself up to sitting, legs out to one side, tucking his head into the crook of Kauri's neck. The older man's arms move around his waist, holding him close, one hand moving up to keep stroking through his hair as he bites down on the feather, chewing on the familiar plastic. "Like I, I, I built a shell, and when Nova-... it cracked."
"Yeah. I know how that feels." Kauri turns his head, pressing a kiss to the top of Chris's hair, easy and comfortable. Chris hums around his feather, rocking just a little. The rising tide of grief inside him threatens to become a wave he can't withstand. He pushed Laken away, too far away, he made them leave him.
He broke up with them.
He made them go.
He can't take that back.
"Listen to me," Kauri whispers, lips against his scalp. "When I was at my lowest, when I hated myself the most, when I demanded Jake abandon me to what I kept telling myself I wanted... he didn't. He was still there. He was still there, and even if we weren't going to be together, he was still willing to help me stand up as a friend. When I was nothing but pieces drawing blood, he still loved me. He loved the pieces as much as the person, and he helped me put myself back together. It's not perfect. It's not overnight. And you'll still have hard days. But it's worth it, Chris."
"Why? Why, why, why is it worth it?"
"Because the world is beautiful," Kauri says, repeating his own long-ago words back to him, and Chris almost smiles. "Because I love the world, now, Chris, and I decided to try as hard as I can to love myself. I learned that from you."
"What if-... what if, if, if it's too late? What if I can't t-talk to them, or-"
"Then we'll stand you back up from there, and start moving forward again. You'll never lose us, we're family, Chris. But I think you should talk to Laken, and tell them what you're feeling, and let them decide how to react instead of deciding for them. They love you." Kauri puts a hand under his chin and lifts it, so their eyes meet. "Let them love you hurting just as much as they do when you're not."
"What if I don't... want to try any longer?"
"Then we'll be here to help you through that, too. All of it. Any of it. For better or worse, Chris, I'm your big brother - and so is Jake, and so is Antoni - and you're stuck with us whether you like it or not."
Chris tucks his head back down so Kauri can't see the tears well back up and run down, even as they soak into his shirt. His teeth grind down on the silicone plastic between them.
"I, I, I fucked up, Kauri," he whimpers, and then starts to sob. "I didn't-... I, I, I just don't w-want to be in m-my body anymore..."
Kauri holds him close.
"I h-hate it, I hate it, I hate it," Chris wails, and Kauri rests his chin on Chris's head and lets him cry. "I hate being p-pretty, I hate my, my, my, I hate that they made my body like this, I hate that I g-get scared and and and, and, and I can't stop things from happening to me, I h-hate that I hurt Laken, I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it!"
"I know," Kauri whispers. "I know, honey. I know."
"I h-hate myself-"
"Sssshhhh, I know."
Chris doesn't know how long he cries for.
But eventually he falls asleep in Kauri's arms.

Chapter 7: New lease on life
words: 2335
You weren't headed towards the police station but the building of the Hero public safety commission, so they were liars as well, it was very fitting for them. When they did stop they grabbed you by your arm and harshly pulled you out of the car.
“Wouldn't you normally take me to the police station?” You said
“We would if you weren’t involved with a high stack villain.” The man said, “Also word of advice, start talking right away to avoid the negations.”
“What?” you asked looking very confused as the two of you went into an elevator and he pressed the down button
“I thought you would be smarter than this, weren't you in school to become a surgeon, to think you would throw that all out.” He said, you rolled your eyes, as the elevator dinged and he escorted you down the hall outside a door where someone was waiting and he handed you off to them and left down the hallway, the other guy opened the door and shoved you down on a seat
“Stay still if you make any movements we won't hesitate to take drastic measurements.” He said leaving the room, how classy of them. You waited, and waited and waited some more before someone came in a familiar face.
“Hello again (last name).” The president said
“OH it's you, you know you didn't have to do the whole sending a squat team and escorting me off-campus in the biggest way possible,” you said
“I think you have bigger things to worry about.” she said putting the note down “I think you know what this is.”
Way to be caught between a rock and a hard place.
“What about it?” you asked
“We know this was front eh nighthawk, and the whole thanks for not snitching on me, I found very interested.” She said, “Now we need your cooperation.”
“Why would I do that?” you asked “I don't like you guys very much, so far you have arrested me twice and brought me to some shady underground interrogation room.”
“(name) the Nighthawk isn't someone you want to get mixed up in, we know he killed Akio, now tell me the whole truth.” “You really want to know the real story?” you asked
“Very much so.” She said
“Well okay, there I was trying to get some girl out of being assaulted, and Akio jumps on me and started strangling me, I was going to die, but then what happens, suddenly he is off me and pinned to the wall, this Nighthawk told me to leave and to take the girl,” you said
“So you were lying to us?” she asked
“You guys have exactly proven you are the most sympathetic people.” you said “But I don't know anything about him.”
“Why didn't you report him, or tell the police?”
“Not like they would have taken it seriously.” you said “and then once I left the police station, you go and stalk me and get so many of your employees hurt.” “I too am curious as to why he attacked them, they weren't after him.” She said
“Ask him not me, oh wait you can’t,” you said
“(name) we can have you put in jail for a very long time if you refuse to cooperate.” She said
“I’m calling your bluff, if you wanted me in jail you would have taken me there instead of here, I anti helping you,” you said
“Guess we have to convince you to cooperate another way,” she said getting up and leaving, as two men came in and grabbed you again dragging you off to another lower level and strapped onto a chair.
“Do what you need to get her cooperation.” The president said as another man walked in
“Quirk?” he asked, you stayed quiet “I’ll ask you again, quirk?”
“Why does it matter?” you asked, he raised his hand and placed a stinging slap across your face
“One more time your quirk?” he asked, you didn't answer and he placed another slap across your face, you just spat on his shoe.
“Fine be that way.” he said looking at your file.``He said, “Okay, you have talons, you flex your fingers and sharp knives like talons emerge from under your nails.”
“IF you had my record why the hell are you asking me for it?” you said, as he got out pair of pliers
“This should do it,” he said and you balled your hands in a fist, guess these people here saw you as nothing more than an accomplice to murder.
“Shit shit shit.” Hawks was thinking to himself as he was flying to the HPSC, this wasn’t good as he landed in an alleyway, it was hard to sneak around when you had two giant pairs of redwings on your back. They took you during the day something down there was near impossible, just what exactly were they planning, he knew they had taken you down to the sub-basement, well it was impossible for him to sneak down there without getting caught, he knew of one guy who would be able to get him down there and yoink you out of there in one piece, he didn't like who it was though.
As hawks flew down to a seemingly abandon bar he was confused, he looked at the card that the guy who was covered in mist said saying if he changed his mind come here, Hawks was looking around the location and seemingly nothing, he didn't have time to waste so he banged on the back door if this was some sort of sick joke he wasn't laughing, he was just about to leave when a black portal opened up, guess that was the cue to go in.
“Glad to see you have changed your mind.” He heard and looked towards Kurogiri
“Well not really changed my mind, I am not interested in joining any type of group, I need a favor.” Hawks said
“Forget it.” He heard another voice saw who was at the end of the bar, he never got used to the hands covering his face, didn't it smell.
“Now Tomura this is where negotiations come in.” Kurogiri said, “Still If you are expecting a favor from us without expecting us to ask something of you, I am afraid you are flying too high.”
“Because the lack of oxygen is messing with your brain,” Tomura said
“Hey look here, I am all for repaying favors here.” Hawks said
“Well, we don't need you.” Tomura said, “I already have my ace in the hole for the first plan of attack.” Tomura said “And I have more than enough players for it. You are too late, now piss off.”
“Okay...harsh.” Hawks said, “But think of me as a backup plan.”
“I already have a backup plan.” Tomura said, “Still I suppose having you as a player in the future would be useful, but what exactly is your favor you want from us?”
“Well I kinda got this person mixed up and the HPSC is keeping her in the sub-basement, and I can't sneak in that far.” Hawks said, “Look you hate heros', I hate who they work for.”
“What exactly is your goal here?” Kurogiri asked
“I want to see the HPSC crumble.” Hawks said, “But now it's just personal.”
“Hmm, tell you what bird brain, if I have my Kurogiri teleport you down there and back, you will owe a favor no questions asked, got it.”
“Got it.” Hawks said
“Kurogiri, you know the location of the sub-basement right.” Tomura asked
“That is correct but chances are once my quirk is activated down there it will set off an alarm, you will have to move quickly,” Kurogiri said
“Well, that's what I'm known for.” Hawks said
You were seeing white from pain, your left hand was shaking as blood was dripping out from under your nail, you looked over in pure shock, you saw your left thumb talon laying on the desk, so this was their plan huh, rip your nails out till you agree to work with them. You were just about to pass out with pain when the man slapped you across the face again.
“Wake up, don’t be passing out on me, now you want to have your right one out next, or your left pinky finger?” He asked, “Or we can skip all this and you can just be corporate.”
“If...if you think, for one second I am going to be anything but cooperative with you after you ripped out my talon, you must have something wrong with you,” you said as you were dry heaving
“Okay, pinky finger it is then.” He said, you gritted your teeth as he presses your pinky talon out right before a loud blazing alarm went off
‘CODE RED, CODE RED, INFILTRATOR ON THE SUB-BASEMENT LEVELS’
The man who just ripped your talon off ran out and locked the door and this must of been your lucky day, your hand was shaking front he pains till you heard a loud ‘thunk’ again the door which could only assume to be a body before the door opened and you saw hawks
“There you are-Holy fuck what the hell did they do to you!?” Hawks said looking at your thumb that was dripping blood, you had better days, he was horrified but not surprised as he ran over and tried to undo the straps that were keeping you on the chair “OH screw it I'm taking the chair, hey I kind of need to portal now.”
To your shock, you managed to get out of there and we're in a weird bar, maybe the pain was making you hallucinate, still, as hawks were tugging on the straps Tomura spoke up
“I thought you said it was someone important, not your damn girlfriend.” Tomura said, “Like someone who was actually useful.”
“She is important to me.” Hawks said getting your arms undone then working on the ones around your ankles “And she isn't my girlfriend either.”
“Well, you got her back so now you owe us Hawks.” Tomura said
“I know I know I'm not one to go around breaking my word.” HE said as got out and looked at your hands “Oh those ...can’t believe this.”
“Well whatever you're going to go on a rampage about isn't going to happen here, Kurogiri you can send them away now,” Tomura said as Kurogiri opened a warp gate
“We will call for you when we need it,” Kurogiri said as hawks slung you over his shoulder
“Noted.” Hawks said stepping through and finding it a bit odd that they knew the location of his hideout, not that he stayed in one place for long. You still looked out of it, what happened in there all he knew was that your thumb was bleeding and you were in searing pain, he had some sort of pain medication around here right?
He sat you down on the floor as he was searching around.
“Hawks….what are you doing?” you asked “Who were those guys, and where the hell am i.”
“One question at a time please.” Hawks said handing you a glass of water and some Tylenol
“I'm going to need a strong opioid for this,” you said but taking what you could, you did take the medication.
“(name) what exactly happened down there?” Hawks asked pointing to your left thumb
“Oh that...they wanted my cooperation for something but when I refused, they took out one of my talons,” you said
“....they did what?’ Hawks said trying to remain calm, you just nodded your head
“My left thumb talon, the guy ripped it out, he was going for my pinky one but luckily you came in time.”
“I saw some guy leave the room you were in and I thought him against the door, didn't know he did well...that. He said pointing to your thumb
“I’ll be okay, I just need some bandages.” you said “But where the hell am I?”
“Well at my place.” Hawks said, “I don't usually hang around one palace for long so it's a little under furnished, I'll go try to find some bandages.” Hawks said as you nodded your head using your shirt to put pressure on your injury. Hawks came out with some gazes and you took them from him. “You want some help?” He asked
“I know how to wrap up wounded better than you.” you said “Don't take that offensively but the number of scars on your arms shows that you don't exactly know how to treat a wound.”
“Haha well, you're not wrong.” Hawks said, “So what are you going to do now?”
“What do you mean, according to them I'm an accomplice to murder, of one of the most dangerous villains in japan, got broken out by a said villain, I can’t just go back to school after this.”
“That's kind of what I'm referring to, you don't know anyone in the underground that you can just crash with-”
“Ahem.” you said staring him down “Sorry buddy but as of now you are kind of stuck with me.”
“Ohhh I see, that makes the most sense, and since this is my fault, okay I'll take you under my wing.”
“Stop with the bird puns.” You said “Look I'm not exactly the most athletic type, but I am smarter than most, so tell you what, you keep me from the HPSC, I'll be your medic.” you said
“Well that sounds like a sweet deal, you would be valuable there aren't a lot of medics in my line of work.” Hawks said doing air quotes around the word work.
“So look you keep me from getting arrested and provide me with basic food and shelter, 'll help in what way I can in your goal, along with being your medic, do we have a deal?” you said sticking out your right hand
“Sounds like a deal.” Hawks said shaking your hand, this was the start of your new life.

Kimi smiled as soon as she saw Yoshiyasu, with a soft exclamation of ‘puppy!’. Her brother reminded her to be gentle and not grab him, as loving creatures generally didn’t enjoy being handled roughly. “Sooooft…” she sighed, burying her face in the warm fur and giggling when a bristled tongue tickled her skin. “He’s so cute!” She gushed, tears forgotten momentarily.
When asked about what sort of weird things happen around him, Aiko fidgeted, unsure if he should say. What if it freaked out the nice man and he decided they were no longer welcome? They couldn’t go home, and it wasn’t safe to sleep on the streets - what would happen to his sister? But he couldn’t deny the request either, not when he was trying to help.
“My brother is the best! He can hurt people who are mean to us!” Kimi insisted, but Aiko didn’t seem nearly as enthusiastic about it. He had drawn into himself, stuffing his hands in his pockets like he wasn’t sure what to do with them. He didn’t really know how to explain it.
Suddenly, the teacup he was holding floated out of his hands, the liquid in it floating out of the cup. Then the cup splintered and shattered into pieces like it had been thrown into the wall, still hovering over then. He squinted in concentration and stared at it — and just like that the cup seemingly knit itself back together to hold the beverage again, without a single crack visible in the porcelain, as if it had never been broken.
“Sometimes if I’m angry at Dad, his favourite team will lose on TV. That’s when he started making me help him place bets and win poker, so I could pull my weight ‘for the family’. Or that time a creepy guy tried to get me an’ Kimi in his car and when he wouldn’t leave us alone, I yelled at him and he had a heart attack and died. The mean lady from church fell and broke her ankle after telling us we were going to Hell.” Aiko let the words spill out in a rush, as though if he said it all fast enough Chuuya wouldn’t be able to hear. “I don’t know. Bad things just happen around me. But… sometimes good things too. Just when I need it too. Like when I found money on the sidewalk to buy Kimi’s birthday present. It’s weird and it’s scary and people hate us because of it. They said I’m probably a witch.” He wiped his eyes, stubbornly refusing to cry.
He’d heard whispers about him. Ability user. Karma manipulation. Reality altering. Unnatural. An abomination. Menace.
“You think so too, don’t you?” He murmured.
Tumblr media
Chuuya smiles softly at the little girl playing with Yoshiyasu, the fluffy dog all too eager to be hugged and petted, wagging his tail happily and licking the little girl's cheek.
The kid didn't seem too keen on discussing the 'weird stuff' happening around him, and he's about to tell him he doesn't have to tell him when the teacup explodes, the broken pieces and liquid held within alike floating in the air. He watches, fascinated, as the broken pieces fit themselves back together as if the cup was never broken.
Yeah, that explains a lot of things. The kid must be an unregistered Ability user. Luck manipulation or something like that, though it sounds more like people getting what they deserve, be it good or bad.
The kid is looking at him as if expecting Chuuya to throw him and his sister out, and the detective is quick to scoot closer, laying a gentle hand on the kid's shoulder.
Tumblr media
"Now Akio-kun, I want you to listen to me very carefully." He speaks in a soft, yet firm voice "You are not a witch, or a monster, or cursed, or whatever other bad thing you've been called. What you have is a gift, even if people don't see it that way. Beside, it would be very hypocritical of me, hating you, considering the things I can do."
He lifts his free hand, a deep red glow surrounding it as both teacup start floating a few inches off the table, engulfed in the same red glow.
"See? I'm 'special' too, in a way."

Mystic Sisters- Ch 16 Lovesick
Riyoshi’s Pov
I sat down next to Akio trying to eat breakfast while Levi was sitting
At the table in front of us. He was looking at us and laughing with his group of friends. I squinted my eyes at him for a second before glancing back at Akio knowing the situation from last night is probably why. Looking back at Levi who was still staring at me I decided to play his little game.
“Aye Levi You can stop staring I don't play that.” I  told him as I took another bite of my food while everyone busted out laughing.
Levi looked at me angrily and I smirked taking another bite of my food. “Who cooked today this is really good.”I asked, looking at Akio again.
Akio still laughing. “It really is but I couldn’t even tell you.”
“You guys tryna figure out how you're gonna fail you're next mission or what?” I heard Levi say.
“Actually we’re talking about how annoying your obsession with us is. Truthfully it’s ok to not be good at your job but you take it to a new level.”
“Last time I checked I got closer on your mission than you did. Maybe I should pay a visit to the other girl. She's even finer than the other one.”
The minute he mentioned Yua I wanted to fight but Akio grabbed my arm and shook his head , so I sat back down…. Until Levi Spoke again.
“I feel as though you guys are protecting the girl instead of completing your mission.” Levi focused on Akio “Isn’t that right Akio considering last---
I didn’t even let him finish. At this point I had enough of his mouth and leapt over the table grabbing him by his collar pulling him to the ground and punched him continuously. I heard gasps and snickers all around me but I was too focused on Levi to care.
Levi struggled to get out of my grasp as he tried to fight back kicking and all. After I feel like I gave him a good enough beating I got up and walked into the restroom to wash the blood off my hands. “Damn I really went in on him.” I said to myself. Leaving the restroom I made my way towards the exit but not before stopping by the table I was sitting before.
Grabbing Akio by the back of his jacket I heard him yelp in surprise as I dragged him back to his room. “ What the hell man!” Akio snatched himself out of my grasp.
“Where's your favorite hat Akio?” I asked with my arms crossed across my chest.
“I put it up. Do I Need to have it on me all the time?”
“Oh ok where'd you put it though cause last time I saw it was on our targets head.”
“Well you see what had happened was...”
“Why are you putting everything in jeopardy for your little crush?!  And letting Levi of all people catch you slipping!”
“It’s not that as simple as it seems-
“It’s very simple! This is our mission and we can prove that we aren’t useless. From now on I will keep watch on both of them.”
“Fuck off Riyoshi!” Akio snapped. “She’s my girl, why would I let you watch her!?” He yelled.
“If you hadn’t been so naive I wouldn’t be here. To be real I was gonna let you be until Levi started mouthing off now almost everyone knows. It won't be long before this gets back to Amelia and we're both fucked.”
“So you're gonna act like you didn’t get mad when Levi mentioned bugging Yua.”
“That doesn't matter, I didn’t get caught you did!” I snapped.
Akio’s face literally turned red before he ran at me. “ You don't understand!” He snapped tackling me to the ground. He got a few good hits in but I slipped out of his grasp and put him in a choke hold.
“Get a hold of yourself bro. Look at you!”
“When you find your soulmate you’ll see what i’m talking about.” he grunted out before tapping out. Now it makes a lot more sense. “Soulmate? You're really sure?”
“I'm not sure but I feel something’s there definitely.”
“So you say she’s your girl and jeopardize our whole mission off something you're not even sure about.” I really wanted to slap him in the back of his head and to be honest I should.
I sighed. “ You know what come here.”
“Nah back up.” Akio said getting in a  fighting stance.
“I'm not gonna hit you.”
“You said that when we were like 12 and then you put me in a submission hold. I’m good.” He said, backing away.
“Exactly when we were  12. Let it go.”
“No, my back was sore for weeks!”
“Alright then.” I acted like I was gonna leave and waited till Akio let his guard down which he did. I took that moment to tackle him and put in a chokehold again.”
“Ahhhhck!” Akio let out a struggling yelp. “Let go you overgrown idiot!”
“You can stay here a bit longer since you take longer to run out of air unlike humans. This is your punishment.”
“I-- thought -- it was--”
“I know you're not gonna stay away from her so this fits too.” I then tightened my grip
“ Ahhhhck! I tap out I tap out!” Akio was literally tapping with both hands
“Alright fine.” I dropped him
“Ahhhck! I hate you I swear.” Getting up with his hand on his neck. “My neck is gonna be fucked up for weeks now thanks to you.”
“Have Hikari give you a massage then.”
All I could do was laugh cause Akio just flipped me off and I just walked out of the room and laughed some more. Walking into my room I sat down on my bed trying to figure out a plan to get these girls back here. Hikari might follow Akio here willingly but Yua is the problem. She flirts a lot but she has more sense than she lets on.”Plan B we might just have to wing it this is all I got. I sighed in frustration. We'll see when the time comes.

Whumptober 2020 Day 19 (Prompt: Grief | Mourning Loved One | Survivor’s Guilt)
Fandom: BNHA (This is an AU for my Next Gen...AU...😬)
Characters: Hitoshi Midoriya (OC), Mitsuko Midoriya kinda, she’s dead (OC), Izuku Midoriya, Ochaco Uraraka, Katsuki Bakugo, Saisho Kirishima (OC), Eijiro Kirishima mentioned, also dead, Kayda Todoroki (OC), Hisao Todoroki (OC), Akio Todoroki haha...you guessed it (OC)
Word Count: 4582
A/N: This may be a mistake since y’all don’t know these characters yet but it just fits all the criteria for today’s prompt and I just couldn’t pass it up. Umm so I wrote this in the car when I couldn’t sleep on a road trip from 2 am to 9 am. I never acctually planned on posting it anywhere, so...idek what I’m trying to say. It’s the darkest thing I had written at that point (and imo, still is my darkest piece) so...yeah. Buckle up, it’s a sad one also please note canon Hitoshi is not this mean
TW: swearing, dissociation, suicidal ideation, child whump (Hitoshi is 13/14), survivor’s guilt (obvi), grief (obvi), family member death, past death of minor (Mitsuko - age 17), emotional detatchment, blood, ptsd flashback (nightmare), panic attack mention, vomiting mention, eventually Hitoshi has a well deserved emotional breakdown
The pencil spun around Hitoshi's knuckles in sync with the second hand of the clock. He stared at it, waiting for it to hypnotize him so that he didn't have to be there for the rest of his session. It wasn't anything personal, his therapist was fine. Today was just a bad day. Not that his days were ever good, but today was a particularly bad one. One where he felt like running out into traffic, just to see what would happen.
"Hitoshi?"
His voice seemed so far away in his dissociative state. It was nice, kind of comforting actually. More so than the unbearable ringing that would occur sometimes when someone spoke to him. The accident fucked his hearing, that's what the doctors said. The accident fucked a lot of things.
56, 57, 58, 59, 4:00
Hitoshi snapped into action, catching his pencil in his hand and slipping it into his bag as he lobbed it over his shoulder.
"Who's coming to get you today, Hitoshi?"
"My dad." He responded with a grumble, not that it was any of his business.
"Okay. Is he here, or would you like me to wait with you?"
Hitoshi shrugged his shoulders, biting back a sarcastic remark as he turned the door handle to exit his therapist's office and enter the hallway. He knew the way back to the waiting room all too well by now: a left, then two rights, down the elevator, and straight down the hall. Hitoshi heard muffled sobbing as he passed one of the doors, sparing it a glance before continuing. He wondered what her problem was. He was a little bit envious, for whatever it was, at least she could express how she was feeling. Hitoshi never felt anything but anger. Sometimes he never felt anything at all.
He made a beeline for the stairway, not too keen on sitting in another silent room with his therapist.
"Getting your steps in today?"
Hitoshi rolled his eyes as he swung himself around the flat bit of the stairwell. Their session was over, couldn't this guy shut up?
He arrived at the waiting room soon enough, tucking his thumbs into his backpack straps as he scanned the room for his dad. Not here yet.
"Not here yet?"
"No, dingbat. Do you see him?"
"Hm. I've got some time before my next appointment. I can stick around for a while."
"Fuuuck me."
"Hey! Sorry, I went to the bathroom." Hitoshi turned towards the cheery voice he knew so well, a small sigh of relief escaping his lungs. "Hey, kiddo-" Izuku placed his hands on Hitoshi's shoulders, faltering as he moved and shoved the front door open. "Hey, hold on!" He called after his son, and Hitoshi did slow down, but he didn't stop. He left the building, then walked a few steps down the sidewalk, perching himself on the ledge of the window sill, his back to the building.
"Uhh…" Izuku sighed, "bad day?"
The therapist gave a vague shrug and Izuku frowned.
"What did he say? Did something happen at school? Did I do something? His mom?"
The therapist smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry, Mr. Midoriya. You should talk to your son."
Izuku bit down on his lip. "Please, just…tell me something. Anything." The words begged to escape his throat, but he swallowed them down and nodded. He understood doctor-patient confidentiality, but that didn't make it any less frustrating.
He bid Hitoshi's therapist goodbye, then joined his son on the sidewalk.
"Hey, kiddo." Izuku's voice sounded far away too, and Hitoshi wasn't sure if he wanted it to this time. He continued to stare at the curb of the sidewalk, the whizzing of tires lulling him off into another dissociative state. His father's voice was muffled and he didn't remember the walk from the sidewalk to the car.
"What's wrong, Hito?" Izuku turned to him, and he couldn't will himself to look away from the dashboard.
He didn't know what was wrong. Nothing, nothing was really wrong, but everything was wrong at the same time. He felt so fucking numb but ached all over at the same time. It was exhausting, he just wanted everything to stop. He wanted everyone to stop trying to fix him; he couldn't be fixed.
Hitoshi took a deep breath, willing all of his effort to move his tongue. "Nothing, I'm just tired." it was silent in the car, nobody moved and a wave of guilt washed over Hitoshi, though he wasn't sure what for.
"Survivor's guilt is a common occurrence. It won't be unusual for Hitoshi to feel as though he did something wrong for surviving the crash. Getting him into therapy sessions now is probably the best course of action."
"Can we go home now?" Hitoshi inhaled again as he reached for his seatbelt, jerking it over his body and clicking it into the buckle.
His dad put the car into drive and Hitoshi rested his head on the window.
"You wanna get some ice cream?" Izuku asked. Hitoshi shrugged and ten minutes later he had a chocolate ice cream cone in his hand. He had grown to hate the taste, but he ate it anyway because it made Izuku feel better.
It still felt wrong not to pass any napkins to Mitsuko to get it out of her hair.
Izuku flipped on the lights to his apartment; the "bachelor pad" as he called it. He had turned Hitoshi on to the idea of a man den when he was ten. They both knew this wasn't what he meant.
"Do you wanna-"
"I've got homework," Hitoshi said, heading straight to his room and shutting the door behind him. He kicked off his shoes and told himself that he didn't care enough to put them away, but the way they were scattered across the floor was a little too much like her, so he picked them up and lined them up against the wall.
He fell back onto his bed, exhaling deeply as he stared up at the popcorn ceiling. His room here wasn't too bad, it was a decent size and his dad even bought him a desk and helped him decorate it with figurines and pictures. He put the pictures away though, they made him feel uneasy.
"Hey," There was a short knock at the door and it slowly creaked open. Izuku stuck his head inside. "I know you want to be alone right now, but keep the door open, yeah? Just a crack, okay?"
Hitoshi sat up a bit and nodded at his dad, who gave him a weak smile in return.
"Okay. Thank you." He said, and Hitoshi appreciated that he didn't pry, even though he knew his father was worried. "Uh, is there anything you want for dinner?"
Hitoshi shrugged and Izuku sighed.
"Okay. Think about it and let me know, okay?"
Hitoshi nodded a little, knowing he wasn't going to decide on anything. He really didn't care.
"Okay. I'll leave you alone now. I love you," Izuku said and Hitoshi gave him a small smile, then he left, pulling the door closed with about an inch to spare.
Hitoshi let his head fall back onto the bed, exhaling in a puff as another wave of guilt crashed over him. He always saw the look in his father's eyes.
"Please give me something. Anything."
But he couldn't, no matter how badly he wanted to. He didn't even know what to say. His dad had always been emotional, he wondered how many nights he spent crying because Hitoshi couldn't even manage an "I love you."
He wanted to cry. He couldn't really remember what crying felt like, but he knew he used to feel better after he did. Now, he just felt bad all the time. He was tired of it.
Hitoshi flipped over onto his stomach, trapping his pillow between his arms and his face as his eyes fell on his bag. He had homework, but he couldn't convince himself to do it. The mere thought of it was exhausting and Hitoshi turned his head the other way, towards the wall.
The blood coated his fingers like syrup, making an awful squelching sound as it mixed with his tears. He applied pressure, he heard that somewhere, a tv show, he thinks. It was supposed to make the bleeding better or something, but it kept leaking and it soaked into his jeans and shirt and skin. He must not have been doing it right, maybe he was pressing too hard because Mitsuko kept gasping for air. Maybe he was choking her.
She turned to him and took in a shaky breath, eyes wide and bloodshot and she whispered in a spine chilling voice, "Help me, Hito."
Hitoshi gasped and in the moment of fear, loosened his grip on Mitsuko's neck. She screamed as the ground caved in, swallowing her whole, and Hitoshi couldn't do anything but scream her name as he reached in after her.
Hitoshi opened his eyes and lifted his head from his pillow, blinking a few times before looking around the room. He sighed, realizing it had been a dream. He wasn't sure which reality he would rather be in.
The faint smell of food caused him to sit up fully, and he looked at his nightstand to see a plate of pizza waiting for him. His dad had to eat alone again. Dick move, Hitoshi.
He rubbed his eyes as they fell on the window, the sun had already set. How long had he slept for? Hitoshi yawned and swung his legs over the side of his bed, taking a second before standing up and opening his door. He went to the living room, a short walk in the small apartment. His dad turned his head from the tv as Hitoshi stepped into the room, greeting him with a small smile.
"Hey. I don't know if you saw, but I left you some pizza. But if you don't want that then I can see what else I can make you."
Hitoshi shrugged, shoving his hands in his pockets. "It's fine." He whispered, and if you weren't listening for it you wouldn't have heard it.
"Okay. Mom called. I told her you were sleeping. You want me to call her back?"
Hitoshi shook his head and Izuku tilted his head to the side.
"Sweetie, you should call your mom." He said, prompting a sigh and a bit of an eye-roll from his son. He nodded in the end, though, so Izuku counted that as a victory.
"Later."
"Not too late. She probably has a shift in the morning, she'll be going to bed soon."
Hitoshi didn't respond to that. Instead, he walked around the couch and sat down next to his father. "What are you watching?" He asked, and Izuku was thrilled to be getting this many words out of him.
"I don't know. The news. Nothing special."
"Pro Heroes Ground Zero and Chargebolt work together in EPIC villain take down!" Izuku cleared his throat, switching the tv off before standing abruptly.
"Alright, it's late. Call your mom and get ready for bed, okay?" Izuku ruffled his hair and planted a kiss on his head. "Goodnight, I love you." He said, then went to his room.
Hitoshi stared straight ahead at the switched-off tv. He should get to bed soon so his dad's sleep didn't suffer. Izuku always waited until Hitoshi had gone to bed before actually sleeping himself. He sighed, staring at the phone on the coffee table. He didn't want to call his mom; calling his mother actually involved talking, and she was much more thorough than his father was. He didn't want to deal with that today. Still, if he didn't call her then it'd be his father who suffered and Hitoshi didn't want that.
She picked up on the third ring.
"What, Izuku?"
"Mom." Hitoshi said, leaning into the phone as it rested on his palm.
"Oh, hi honey. What are you doing on Dad's phone?"
Hitoshi shrugged, sighing in frustration as he realized she couldn't see him. "It was closer than mine."
His mother laughed. "Lazy butt. How was your day?"
"Fine."
"How was your meeting with your therapist?"
"Fine."
"Okay…how's Daddy?"
Hitoshi sighed as he looked over the top of the couch to his dad's room, door open and light on. "I'm slowly killing him."
"Fine."
"Okay, can you give me more than that, please? I miss you. Pretty please?"
Again, Hitoshi sighed. "He's okay. We got ice cream."
"Oooh what's the occasion?"
"He's sad that I won't speak to him." "Just…guys being dudes."
Ochako laughed, which provided some type of relief, even if it was only temporary. "Alright, did you guys get your homework done?"
"Yeah," He lied. He didn't want his dad to get reprimanded for his own destructive tendencies.
"Did you have a lot?"
"Not really."
"Any you struggled with?"
Hitoshi cursed silently, looking for a bullshit answer. "Algebra." Mitsuko was good at algebra.
"Oh, ummm, well did you two get it? If not you could snap a pic and send it to me and I can help. Or you could ask Kayda, I'm sure she'd love to help you."
"We figured it out."
"Of course you did, you're so smart." There was a pause when Hitoshi didn't respond. "Your dad is pretty good at algebra, huh?"
Hitoshi sighed. "Yeah." That's where Mitsuko got it.
"Okay, well it's getting late. As much I know you love talking to me, you need to get your rest."
"Okay."
"Okay. I love you, bubba. Goodnight."
"Night." He said and hung up the phone, letting it sit idly in his lap before he moved. He went to his father's room and peeked inside to see the bathroom door closed. He must have been showering. Hitoshi left his phone on his bed, then went back to his own bedroom. He laid down on his bed, not bothering to get under the covers, figuring he'd just get up and shower when he'd inevitably wake up again in two hours. Everything felt heavy, especially his eyelids, and he let them fall closed as he drifted off into the night.
✱✱✱
Hitoshi kicked at the ground as his hands gripped the sides of the chair. His cousin sat in the one next to him, resting her chin on her hand.
"He doesn't need whatever the hell this is, Katsuki-"
"I don't have anything to do with this, don't start with me."
Hitoshi sighed and bent down to pick up his backpack just as Katsuki and his mom burst through the door to the principal's office. His mom rushed over to him, cupping his face in her hands and repeatedly asking if he was injured. Hitoshi pushed her off and started towards the door, scoffing when Ochako blocked his path.
"Hitoshi, what happened?"
The brunette glanced at his cousin who rolled her eyes as she picked up her bag. "Nothing."
"Obviously, it's not nothing if you're both here-"
"Okay, would you shut up and let me parent my own kid?" Katsuki spat, and Ochako scoffed.
"You're not doing a very good job-"
"Mom," Hitoshi whined. Nothing good was going to come from this.
"Saisho, what the hell happened?" Katsuki asked and the girl rolled her eyes. "Don't you dare roll your eyes at me, do you know how many strings I had to pull to come get you?"
"Oh, yeah. 'Cause it's my fault, right? It's always my fault." She pushed past her dad, ignoring his angry shouts and walked out of the door. Hitoshi slipped around his mother, following Saisho's lead. He just wanted to go home.
"This is the third call I've gotten this month. Saisho, whatever the hell this is, you need to get it together because I'm sick of it."
"What do you think, I like you coming to my school and screaming at me in the halls?!" Saisho whipped around and shouted right back at her father, a few spikes growing on her arms. "Yeah, it's the highlight of my freaking week!"
"Watch your mouth!" Katsuki scolded her but she was ready to fire back with more sarcasm.
"It wasn't her fault, she had a panic attack!" Hitoshi shouted over them, grabbing both of their attention as well as his mother's. Quieter, he continued, "They pick on her, they wouldn't leave her alone. So I stepped in and then her quirk was all…you know and then…"
"What…is this true?" Katsuki turned to Saisho, who's breathing had picked up as she stared at Hitoshi. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because you don't listen! It doesn't matter."
"Of course, it matters. How could you even think that? You're supposed to tell me stuff like this-"
"She was just scared-" Hitoshi started, but was quickly stopped by a wry cry.
"Oh my GOD!" Saisho wrung her fingers through her hair, pulling at her scalp in frustration. She turned to Hitoshi, "Would you FUCK OFF?! Stop fighting my battles for me!"
"Hey!" Ochako stepped up next to Hitoshi, offended for her son who simply sighed and cast his gaze to the floor.
"Hey! Not okay!" Katsuki grabbed onto her wrist and she growled, yanking it away with all her might but still not able to get free.
"LET GO! Don't touch me! Stop!" She cried, clawing at Katsuki's hand. "Ugh! None of this would be happening if Dad was here!" She yelled, and that was enough for Katsuki to loosen his grip in shock. Saisho immediately ripped her hand away, stumbling backward in a fit of tears.
"I'm here! I'm here, sorry I'm late!" Izuku threw open the double doors, slowing down at the sight in front of him. "What…what's going on?"
Saisho let out one more frustrated sob and stomped forward, shoving past Izuku to the parking lot.
Izuku gave Katsuki a look, which he ignored and started after his daughter. Izuku grabbed him by the arm before he could get passed. "Hey-"
"Don't touch me!" Katsuki yanked his arm away, whipping around to face Izuku. "You're not the only one who lost someone in that accident, you know?! And that's what it was, an accident! It was an ACCIDENT! I'm sorry! You know I'm sorry! And you can punish me all you want, but don't you fucking drag her into it because she lost a parent!" He pointed out at the parking lot, tears welling up in his eyes and Hitoshi realized this was the first time he'd actually seen his uncle cry.
Izuku didn't stop him from leaving after that, and the broken family watched the blond storm out of the school.
"Okay…what the heck did I miss?" Izuku held his arms out to his sides as he approached his son and ex wife.
"More like why the hell did you miss? Izuku, where were you? I know they called you after they called me." Ochako stepped towards him, arms crossed over her chest.
"I was working-"
"So was I."
"I was all the way across town!"
"What happened to your super speed, Mr. Full Cowling?"
"Okay, I'm not doing this with you right now. Hitoshi-"
"No, you don't get to do that. You don't get to dodge my questions like they aren't important."
"I am trying to check on our son!"
"He's fine! I already checked, because I was here."
"Well I am here now and I would still like to know what happened."
"He was in a fight!"
"You were in a fight?!" Izuku echoed, turning to Hitoshi with a shocked look on his face.
Hitoshi raised his eyebrows and his mouth dropped open in surprise. "What?! No, it wasn't a fight-" He started, but was interrupted by his mother before he could finish.
"Maybe you could have done something to prevent it if you actually talked to him."
Izuku recoiled, his eyebrows furrowing and his mouth morphing into a scowl. "I do talk to him."
"Oh yeah? What do you talk about?"
"We…Ochako, this isn't fair-"
"You want to know what isn't fair? What isn't fair is that I'm stuck being his mom after you decided to be his friend! Let me guess what you had for dinner last night: whatever he wanted?"
Izuku frowned. "Actually, we had pizza."
"Oh, pizza! Even better!"
Hitoshi shut his eyes, scrunching his nose up as they continued to bicker. He was sure the classrooms down the hall could hear, and he didn't need to add anything else to his souring reputation. "You guys, can we please go home-"
"Shush!"
"Not now!"
This was how they'd been since the funeral. They argued constantly; over why the dishes weren't done (Mitsuko always did them), about who's turn it was to buy groceries (Mitsuko did most of the shopping), about whether they were going to keep Mitsuko's door open or closed.
The last one didn't last long because Izuku moved out a few months after. He wanted her door closed, but now Ochako could keep it open.
They argued over Hitoshi a lot too, and he remembered when he first saw the headlines: "Pro Heroes Deku and Uravity Messy Divorce After Loss of Child!"
He threw up after reading it.
Things were better after they separated. Well, not better, but at least they weren't fighting all the time. They had gotten better at communicating, but he still hated being in the same room with both of them at a time. It was times like these where he wished his sister was still here, or at least that Saisho didn't hate him.
He guessed this was the type of stuff he was supposed to tell his therapist. But how was he supposed to say it when it felt like talking about her was forbidden? Her name was like a lit match, waiting to be dropped on a stick of dynamite embedded deep inside of the Earth's core, ready to blow his world to pieces. He lost himself in these thoughts, spiraling down and down and down until he'd forgotten what reality he was in.
His dissociation was dangerous because he would sometimes wander without realizing it until someone woke him up. This time, it was Hisao.
Hitoshi blinked as Hisao shook his shoulder, staring at him with a concerned look on his face. "Are you okay? Here, come in." He ushered and Hitoshi listened realizing his clothes were damp. He must have walked there in the rain.
"KAYDAAA!" Hisao shouted, and from the annoyed look on his face it didn't seem like it was the first time. "I don't know where she is. Damn, I've got a thing to go to, I just stopped by to pick up some tools. Here, uh-" He flipped the switch to the fireplace and it lit up. "I'll go get you some dry clothes."
"What do you want?" Kayda came down the stairs, her irritated expression faltering as she laid eyes on Hitoshi. "Hito-chan…what…?" She started and looked to Hisao who shrugged, bounding up the stairs to get clothes for Hitoshi.
Kayda finished down the stairs and jogged over to Hitoshi, who was shivering now. "What are you doing here?"
Hitoshi shrugged. "I don't know." He truly didn't.
She frowned and grabbed a blanket from the couch, wrapping it around his shoulders.
"Mom and dad were fighting." He mumbled and her shoulders slumped. He felt bad for unloading onto her like this. Mitsuko was her best friend after all.
"Okay! They're gonna be pretty big, but it's better than what you're wearing, so," Hisao appeared next to them, handing Kayda the dry clothes. "I'm late to meet with Jisoo, so are you guys okay? Should I…?"
Kayda shook her head. "Go on, we'll be fine."
Hisao muttered a quiet "kay" and quickly left the house, leaving Kayda and Hitoshi alone.
"Here, why don't we get you changed?" Kayda helped him stand and led him to the bathroom, handing him the clothes before he closed the door.
About fifteen minutes later, he was curled up on the couch with a mug of hot chocolate.
"You know," Kayda sighed, picking at the blankets they were curled up with, "When Akio died…I wanted to die too. Well, not literally. I just couldn't…grasp the concept of living in a world where he didn't exist. I was so mad at him for…leaving me behind."
Hitoshi stared down into his cup. "It's not the same."
Kayda looked at him, then swallowed and nodded, sniffling. "I know."
Now he made her cry. When was this ever going to get any easier?
"I guess what I mean is," She sighed once more, allowing her hands to fall into her lap, "I've lost two important people within the last couple of years. So if you ever need someone to talk to…"
Hitoshi nodded. Kayda was nice, she had always been nice to him. But if he couldn't talk to his therapist, someone who his parents were paying to listen, how was he supposed to talk to his dead sister's best friend?
"Why didn't I wake up sooner?" Well,he's done it. Kayda raised an eyebrow and he, somehow, continued, "If I had…" He stopped, an involuntary sob bobbing in his throat, "She was just…lying there. She was all alone." He whimpered and his vision went blurry before he felt a warm wetness on his cheeks. "If I had…if I had woken up…s-sooner-" He coughed in his own tears, bringing a hand up to cover his face.
It had been a long time since he cried, and now that it was finally happening he didn't like it. His face was hot, and his head felt like it was going to explode from the sheer effort he was putting in to keep his tears from falling. Effort that didn't matter, because they were falling anyway, like a dam that had been patched up with gum, water spurting out of every crack, every crevice it could find. And to top it all off there was this sharp pain in his chest and he couldn't stop his lungs from seizing as he gasped for air, choking on his sobs and coughing when he couldn't get enough of it.
Warm arms restricted his shaking and he pressed his head into Kayda's chest, her hug providing some sense of security as he cried until his eyes swelled. Mitsuko would have made fun of him for this, and the thought only made him cry harder, pleading to some sentient being for the past year to have been a nightmare. Unfortunately for Hitoshi, said sentient being must not exist, because his desperate prayers went unheard.
She whispered little reassurances, and though he didn't believe them, they made him feel a little bit better. His breathing slowed and his cheeks dried, though his head still pounded like a drum. He would have fallen asleep if he hadn't pulled away, hiccuping as he wiped at his eye.
"I should tell my parents where I am." He mumbled, taking out his phone and struggling to type in the pass code with his shaky hand.
"They don't know?" Kayda inquired, to which Hitoshi shook his head. He hadn't told him he was leaving, and they had been too caught up in their argument to notice.
He shot them a text, nothing fancy or anything more than an address. He didn't want to talk to them. He was tired.
But he did feel better. Even if it was just a little bit.

Best Part
“Our time together is just never quite enough.”
- Anonymous
Best Part is a story made by Micaela Lansangan. The story is about a girl who has this phobia called ‘Philophobia’. This Phobia is the fear of falling in love or becoming emotionally attracted with another person. A person who has this phobia always thought that they will never had this so called “greatest love”. This phobia is a hindrance to her and is so intense that it interferes with her life. Until she met this guy who helped her to cope up this phobia.
Celeste’s POV
Today’s the first day at my university. As usual, you can see around a bunch of students with their friends, some are sipping on their coffees and most of them are walking towards the university’s ground while here I am holding my shoulder bag and books. When suddenly someone bumped into me almost making me stumble. I breathed out while gripping my books in front of my chest. I looked back at the student and he just winked at me. This is one of the reasons why I hate boys.
Time flew so fast that it’s already lunch. I went to a café near the university and felt lucky that I have found a seat since most of the seats are taken except this one. I ordered a Tenderloin Steak and a cheeseburger with cola. I prefer to eat a heavy lunch, since I only ate a piece of bread this morning. I was excited when my food already arrived but that weavers when someone disrupted my inner peace.
“Excuse me miss, can I seat here? As you can see this is the only pair of seats that are available, and I could not eat outside since I chose to dine in instead of taking out?” The person in front of me said. I looked at him carefully because he seems so familiar. I then remembered that he was the same guy who bumped into me.
“You bumped into me earlier and left without saying sorry and now you dare to come here and asked me to let you sit with me? The audacity!” I rolled my eyes.
“Look, I’m sorry about earlier I was in a rush because I had to get my things in my car and classes were already starting, right? Who would want to be late on their first day?” he explained again.
“Could you please just shut your mouth and sit? I don't have any time for your explanation."
His order already arrived, and we were silently eating. I could feel him stealing glances at me every now and then while I was busy munching my food like a caveman. I was so hungry. I was about to ask what his problem was but then he stood up and disappeared in front of me. I shrugged my shoulders and continued eating. Well, I don’t care where he is heading up to because it feels weird breathing the same air with him. I was wiping my mouth when he suddenly appeared again.
"By the way, I’m Akio Hiro Martinez, I’m taking up BS Psychologist, I’m a fourth-year student, and how about you?” He flashed his gorgeous smile and lend out his hand for me to shake.
“You can just call me Celeste, a third-year student, taking up BS Civil Engineering” I lazily replied and shook my hands with his own.
“So, you want to be a civil engineer?” He propped again.
“Are you this talkative? Does it seem like I wanted to be close to you? I won't take that if I don't want to be an engineer. Common sense, Dude!"
“Just making sure. You might want to end up with a different career”
"And what is that?" I asked while I was looking at him sharply.
He leaned forward and I almost stumbled back from my seat because of our proximity. I instantly blushed from the gesture.
"A wife of a therapist," He whispered and chuckled.
My jaw dropped and I quickly averted my gaze from him while picking up my belongings.
“See you again, Celeste. I have fun dining with you."
“No problem. Anyt—" I stopped when I realized how foolish I am if I'll say anytime because he might get the wrong idea. I just smiled at him and turned my back.
“Anytime? Great!" I heard him chuckling again. I felt my cheeks burning and so I ran away from him.
Lunch’s over but my next class will be at 6 pm. Since it’s the first day of class I don’t think we have any important thing to do because our professors are still busy working on students who just enrolled. Since it’s a bit early I just drove away to sleep in my condo while waiting. My condo was given by my father when I was 18 to give me the freedom of living independently. My Dad is a Civil Engineer as well and that is why I took this course because I was inspired by him. I stood up waiting for the elevator door to open. While I was scrolling down my phone, I heard the ping of the elevator. I looked up and was about to enter when someone rushed inside almost bumping me.
I gasped when I saw the guy I met earlier. He was busy tapping his phone and groaning that's why he didn't notice me entering the elevator. I stood up beside him.
"It's you again! Do you live here?" Oh, now he knew I was with him.
"Yes, I do. What about you, Hiro?"
“Because you're here,” He said while smirking.
I snickered at him and slapped his shoulders.
“Just kidding, I wanted to rest because I don’t have any classes this afternoon. And what about you?”
“Taking a nap as well. The class will start at 6 and it's just noon” The elevator door opened. I walked out and was about to bid him goodbye when I saw him standing behind me. I realized that he also lives on the same floor in the condominium. We never spoke to each other until I reached my room.  I placed my things in the living room and walked inside my bedroom. I took off my I.D and jump towards my bed. I groaned softly because of how comfy it was.
Time passed by and it’s already in the middle of November, and I gained few friends at my school and you won’t believe who it wa—. My inner thoughts were interrupted because of the loud knocking.
I frowned and lazily drag myself up. I shook my head because of my annoyance. Here he goes again.
“Let me in Celeste!” he shouted “Can you just wait and stop shouting! The neighbors might get mad” I shouted back and opened the door. So as usual, he’s bringing some food from the subway and milk teas. He raised the food and playfully walked inside. We became close because he would always pester me until I gave up and became friends with him. We always talk about the things that would bother us and some personal stuff. Yup, we’re that close, that we share every little thing about ourselves. Lol.
“What are you up to these days, Celeste? Finals will be up soon. So, what are your plans after?” He asked while looking for a movie to watch on Netflix.
“I don’t know, maybe I’ll just go shopping and reward myself. That’ll be better” I said as I took a bite of the sandwich
“That sounds great maybe I can come with you?” Oh, there he goes again with his puppy eyes.
“Sure. If you’re going to treat me.” I teased him. He nodded his head and pats my head.
Finals were over and here we are shopping. He bought me clothes because that's what we had agreed upon. I stared at him while he was busy trying out some clothes.  I then began to realize that Hiro was different from the guys that I met back then. He was the guy that every girl would want to be with because of how nice and charming he is.
“Stop looking, Celeste. I would assume you have a crush on me,” he said while walking towards me. He flicked my forehead and smirked.
“Let’s go I’m hungry, I have a reservation at a restaurant. You would definitely love it” he said and pulled me
We entered the restaurant, and I was confused when someone assisted us towards the VIP room.  When we stepped inside the room. I was shocked because it was a candlelight dinner.
While I was busy placing my utensils in the right place. I heard him clearing his throat. I looked at him and gave him the confused look.
“What?” I asked because he’s so quiet and looks so serious.
“Celeste, the first time I saw you I knew that I was beginning to like you." He sincerely confessed and reached for my hand that was placed on the table.
"I never knew I would like someone who is a brat” He laughed and stared at me lovingly. I began to tear up, but I'll make him pay later for calling me a brat.
"But you would always be an exemption. Can I court you?"
“You should've told me that this was a date! I don't look presentable at all” I rolled my eyes at him.
"It wouldn't be a surprise if I did. So, can I court you?” he asked
"Of course, you could, Hiro!" I replied and he instantly went to me while holding a box. I was about to ask what it was but then he took off the cover and reached for the necklace that was placed inside. I gasped when I saw the necklace, I told him before that I loved. He gently placed it on my neck and kissed the top of my head. I smiled because of contentment. It was the best day of my life because I overcome my fear of being in love with the man I would love for the entire lifetime.
 THE END.

❝a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.❞ ── chinese proverb
You hummed in satisfaction, cupping porcelain cup filled with the warm green tea in your hands as you watch the sun slowly reveal itself to the world; spreading her golden rays of light. Everything around her was bathed in crimson and the color of a blush, the clouds above decorated with a hint of sky blue and wisps of silver.
You sipped on your tea, the bittersweet taste dancing on your tongue before you swallowed, warming you up from the inside to protect you from the chilly morning breeze—which was especially strong today.
“Thanks for the tea, Grandmother Shiori.” You told her, placing your hand over hers, as she was sitting beside you while sipping on her own tea.
She smiled gently at you, eyes twinkling. “You know you don’t need to thank me, (Name). I think of you as one my own.”
“I know. But it’s a habit, after everything you’ve done for me and for the sake of my grandmother, Yumi.” You smiled back, placing your empty cup of tea back into the tray.
You brushed off your new haori—it was plain black with silver trimmings along the hem of your sleeves, along with a full moon with two crescent moons parallel to each other on the back, colored silver as well—and your Demon Slayer Corps uniform from any dust, adjusting the sheath of your katana the rested on the side of your hip.
Shiori watched you as you strapped your quiver onto your back, slinging the bow across your body as she fed some nuts to your crow, Kemuri.
“Alright, I should get going now,” You sighed, patting yourself to make sure you had all of your things on you. “Come on, Kemuri. Lead the way.”
Kemuri cawed in response, fluttering her wings before she hovered above you, flying east of the village.
“Good luck. Make it back safely.” Shiori said, voice laced with a hint of worry as she waved her hand at you.
You turned your head as you walked, a small smile forming on your lips as you waved back. You turned your head back to your crow, entering the forest as she guided you to the village that needed help.
It was around noon.
You have been walking for quite a while now, only stopping twice to eat or to use the restroom. Kemuri, a couple times, said that you were almost there—
You got a feeling that she was just lying to encourage you.
“Kemuri,” You called out to her, taking out a strawberry from one of your pouches that held food, “eat this.”
You threw it towards her, which she caught with ease. She happily ate away, her flying now slowed down a bit.
However, what caught your attention was the faint sound of chatter in the distance—and lots of it. That, to you, meant that you had finally arrived at the village.
You sprinted towards the noise, the sight of houses, shops, and crowds of people meeting your vision. You smiled to yourself, increasing your speed.
“I’m finally here. What a walk.” You mumbled to yourself, entering the village. Your eyes scanned the place, taking each and every detail of the village—in case you needed it in the future.
What caught your eye, though, was the all-too-familiar sight of a boar head, shirtless man, and hakama with animal hide on it. He was seated at a restaurant, his boar head beside him, scarfing down his food.
You smiled, remembering the times you ate with him during the Final Selection—no matter who he was with or where he was, he would eat his food like that. It was probably in his nature.
You shook your head, making your way to the restaurant before you sat on a seat next to him. He didn’t notice you, however, as he was too busy with his tempura, takoyaki, and yakitori.
“Hello, Inosuke. Long time no see.” You greeted him after you made an order, placing your head on the palm of your hand.
“Hah?” He paused his eating, turning his head to look at you. He squinted, tilting his head before you spotted a hint of recognition in his emerald eyes. “Ration woman.”
A drop a sweat trickled down the side of your forehead, pursing your lips in an exasperated expression. “Ration woman? You remember me for that?”
“So what?” He growled, shoving some takoyaki in his mouth.
You winced at his messy eating, glancing over at Kemuri, who was currently perched on the sign of the restaurant.
She, like the crow she was, gave you a blank look.
“Nothing. It just means you have a shitty memory.” You shrugged, taking a takoyaki ball, which only fueled his anger.
He was about to yell at you when you shoved the takoyaki ball into his mouth, seemingly making him shut up and get distracted, once again, by food.
You had done that multiple times already—whenever you said something that set him off, you'd shove food in his mouth or distract him
So far, it always worked.
A small smirk made its way to your lips as you thanked the old man with the bow of your head as he set a bowl fresh, steaming ramen in front of you and some chopsticks beside it.
“So,” You started once again, as you waited for your ramen to cool down a bit. “Are you here on a mission?”
Inosuke’s emerald eyes shifted over to yours, eyes narrowed. “Hah? How the hell did you know? I don’t need any help.”
You rolled your eyes. “Well, you don’t decide. ‘Cause I’m here for the mission too. It’s the disappearing village.” You told him, voice dropping to a whisper that only Inosuke could hear.
“I don’t care. I’m going to beat you!” He declared proudly, chest puffing up with pride as he swallowed some of his tempura.
“Mhm, you do that.” You hummed, mixing your ramen with your chopsticks before you raised it up to your mouth and ate it.
As you and Inosuke ate in silence, you heard someone take a seat beside you. Curious, you shifted your head towards his direction slightly, enough to observe his features.
He was quite tall, even while sitting down, by a head. He wore a navy blue kosode under his navy blue haori, decorated with a white dragon pattern to contrast the color.
Your eyes trailed up to his face; admittedly, he was quite handsome. He had a cute, round face—messy, reddish-chestnut brown hair framing his face. He had large, almond shaped lime green eyes with a small beauty mark underneath his left eye.
He seemed about your age, if not older by one or two years at least.
He caught your eye, making you divert your attention quickly to your ramen, as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.
You felt your cheeks heat up, feeling his piercing gaze as you raised the chopsticks to your mouth, slowly chewing your ramen.
“Hello, miss.” He greeted with a sly grin, voice deep and silvery.
You swallowed, licking your lips nervously before you answered. “Um, hello.”
“I couldn’t help but notice you on the way back to my home. You and your friend there are Demon Slayers, no?” He asked, tilting his head to the side, curiosity shining in his lime green eyes.
You narrowed your eyes. “Yes. It’s clear from the uniform and weapons. Why do you ask?”
He waved his hand dismissively. “No reason. It’s people like you that make our world a better place.”
You nodded slowly. Just what was he getting at, exactly?
“Yes. Thank you for the compliment, um…?”
“Shoji Akio. Please, call me Akio.” The said man, Akio, told you, his smile reaching his eyes.
“Thank you, Akio. I’m (L/N) (Name). The one beside me is Hashibira Inosuke.” You introduced, bowing your head slightly out of politeness. “It’s a pleasure.”
“Pleasure’s all mine. After all, you’re very pretty and it’s hard not to notice. S’why I came here.” He grinned, winking at you.
Your eyebrow twitched.
Man, you really hated guys like that. Frankly, this was the first time that it happened to you, but after witnessing it way too many times…
Men could be real shallow assholes.
You barely acknowledged what he said, instead slurping your ramen as a response to his irritating words.
He smirked. Were you getting shy?
“Would you…like to go on a date with me, maybe? You know, get to know each other.”
You slurped. After a moment of chewing your food and swallowing it, you looked at him.
Without any hesitation, you answered, “No.”
Akio blinked, almost falling out of his seat out of surprise. What? No girl has ever declined him—that wasn’t fair!
“Huh? Why not?” He asked, trying to keep his composure.
“I just don’t want to.”
“But, don’t you want information about the village?” Akio asked, pointing his chopsticks at you.
You narrowed your eyes at him suspiciously. “Yes, I do.”
“Then I can tell you during our date.” He told you, shrugging non-nonchalantly as he began mixing his bowl’s contents with his chopsticks.
You snorted. Who did he think he was?
“You are so disgusting and conceited that it’s very sad and concerning. You think you have the right to blackmail or bribe me on going on a date with you, in exchange for information?” You let out a chuckle. “I can simply ask anyone. It’s not just you in this damn village, bastard. Grow up.”
You slammed some of your money onto the counter, sliding off the chair easily. “Come on, Inosuke. Let’s go.”
“Hah?! I’m not finished yet—”
“I’ll treat you to a large meal after our mission. On me.”
His eyes seemed to sparkle at the thought, a smug grin making its way on his lips as he put on his boar head. He proceeded to roughly grab your hand, leading you in a direction you weren’t so sure of. You were just glad that you got away from Akio.
The said male watched you and Inosuke, wide lime green eyes following your figure. He was just so, so...surprised and baffled by your words.
The restaurant owner shook his head and looked at Akio with pity in his aged brown eyes. “The young woman is right. She doesn’t owe you anything. Besides, the villagers would be willing to give her any information about the demons in our village.”
Akio sighed, his gaze shifting to the bowl of udon in front of him, head low.
He really felt shameful for what he did. For the first time ever.
You certainly taught him a lesson he didn’t know he needed.
It was the evening, now.
The sun was in the west, slowly beginning to make its descent below the sky, decorating the horizon with rich colors and shades of red and orange. The clouds blushed a warm hue of a deep pink and orange, as if they were shy from the warm rays of the sun.
You bowed your head respectfully at the older woman, thanking her for the extra bits of information about what happens to the village. Narrowing your eyes at Inosuke to do the same, he merely ignored you as he crossed his arms, watching the older woman like a hawk.
Why was he so wary of her? She was a kind old lady, who even offered you two dinner for the hard work the two of you were doing.
“Come, Inosuke. We have to get to the place where they supposedly come out.” You prodded, gesturing with your head to a small field located at the end of the village.
“Stop telling me what to do! You’re not my boss!” Inosuke growled, clenching his fists.
He still followed you, though.
You rolled your eyes, deciding to give in to his charade to pump him up a bit.
“Yes, you’re right. I’m not the boss; you are.”
Steam came out of the nose of his boar mask as he puffed his chest with pride, cackling loudly.
“Yeah, I am! I’m your boss!” The volume of his cackles increased as he said so.
You silently chuckled out of amusement. He got all giddy and happy when praised, huh? It was almost cute.
Almost.
You sat down onto the grass, watching Inosuke absent-mindedly as he charged at trees head first, yelling his signature ‘pig assault.’
Your eyebrows furrowed slightly in thought, mulling over the events so far today. You remembered that Grandma Shiori wanted to talk to you about your sword—and you weren’t so sure why. She has seen it before, right? You saw the way her eyes lit up in recognition…or did you read her wrong? Well, sometimes you did over analyze. Overthink. It was a bad habit.
What sort of pissed you off today, though, was the nerve of that boy—Shoji Akio, was it? Yeah, you didn’t like him.
Boys like him think they are all high and mighty just because they are good looking. Boys like him think they are a lady’s man, just because he could woo a couple girls. Because they thought he was handsome.  Boys like him were nothing but trashy womanizers.
Looks didn’t matter, however. Inside, he was a large piece of shit.
You sighed.
Anyway, onto the information you had collected with Inosuke.
One: apparently, as soon as the sun would set, the entire perimeter of the village would shake before it descended into some sort of dark, misty place.
Two: When that would happen, multiple demons would come out, dragging unlucky victims out of their homes to eat them. So far, there has been seventeen victims. Seven women. Seven men. Three children.
Three: it started around two weeks ago. Nobody knew how the demons got to their village; since it was up high in a mountain, and there were some wisteria flowers on the path to the village. You deduced that the demons probably saw some alternative way to get to the village.
Four: finally, it was impossible to escape the village. As soon as you stepped in, you couldn’t get out; the moment your foot steps out of what they called the ‘village zone,’ you’d get sliced in half. You figured it was some sort of demon blood art.
You clicked your tongue in annoyance, taking in a deep breath before exhaling. You needed to clear your mind, or else you wouldn’t be able to fully focus on your task right now.
The sun had finally set.
The moon, now crescent shaped, revealed herself to the quiet world. She shone brightly amidst the blanket of darkness, her friends, the glimmering stars, decorating the night sky—as if they were specks of snow that clung onto one’s clothes.
The village was quiet, and there wasn’t a single person in sight. They were probably hiding, now, with firearms, swords, and other weapons prepared in case the demons were to invade their homes.
Inosuke had stopped ‘practicing,’ his pig assault a while ago, now waiting beside you for the demons to come out.
As if on cue, you could feel the ground beneath you tremble. You quickly got up and brushed off any grass and dirt from your hakama, hands tightly grasping the hilt of your katana that sat comfortably on your hip.
You could feel the village descend, watching as the trees seemed to stretch into the skies above, grass appearing as if they were as long as the susuki grass. Once it stopped, everything, indeed, was shrouded in some sort of…dark, murky mist. However, you could still see the faint illumination of the moon above.
“Hah, I can feel them.” Inosuke muttered.
You nodded in response, backing up. Your back touched his, stance ready just in case any demon was going to attack you from any direction.
All of a sudden, you and Inosuke could hear loud, chilling cackles of multiple demons. The sound sent a shiver down your spine, heart beat beginning to increase.
You drew out your katana, the loud shing! of metal echoing throughout the empty village. You grasped it tightly, brows furrowed in concentration as you saw figures beginning to emerge from the shadows.
“Hello, dinner!”

Demons (Tidus) (Hands down this is the best song I’ve ever done. It covers everything, my issues, stuff with Yuna, it’s really intense.)
My Guardian Angel (Aiden) (Never forget it baby)
Daydreaming (Itachi) (Fools...)
Road to Nowhere (Rock Lee) (didn’t he just do this one?)
In My Life (Marcus) (It’s seems you’ve forgotten this song I played for you Lana, have another listen, perhaps it will give you answers you’re longing for from me. I love you, darling.)
Lovesong (Garnet) (How romantic everyone is today, I wanted to sing something too. Just a song I like...not about anybody...well except my darling husband Ulquiorra. Just him.)
Do re me (Adam) (Hate to be all on some feelings shit, but since Steph treating me like this, i’m done playin these damn games. She gotta hear dis shit, i ain’t playin bit)
So I Thought (Tifa) (I think finally I’m learning to move on and look at my memories as what they were not just how I saw them. still....)
The Red (Squall) (*flips hair* .... .... just a vent song.....)
Something I Can Never Have (Memo) (I feel really embarrassed...I mean I made this cover of Aiden’s song and Harry heard me singing and made me go. That’s why we’re here for kareoke...sorry guys.)
Tunic (Joni) (After hearing Jesse’s song.......just....piss off Harry)
No Surprises (Akio) (I feel this is the safe feeling a lot of people who’ve suffered...including myself....feel. Hell, I guess this is just about me, not some diagnosis. I might miss out on love and new experience, but as long as things stay calm, i’ll be fine.)
Lovesong (Zidane) (me too Dag, me too...)
The Pretenders (Zack) (I don’t know what’s happening in camp now, but we’re gonna get to the bottom of this. You can’t keep us in the dark forever, I’m not going to let you cage us and play your game on us. We’re gonna change things, we’re gon-)
Once Zack started talking they cancelled kareoke and made us all go to our room. Bummer.

temper temper || guy || trial 4.3 || re: hiro, elise || attn: vivian, haru
Guy slaps his hands down onto his podium; not hard, but enough to make a noise.
Tumblr media
"We are looking at the evidence!"
He announces with a shaky breath, his eyes getting glossy.
Tumblr media
"I-- This sucks, I know! I hate doing this as much as everyone else, everyone hates this! B-but it's a process we're forced to go through if we w-wanna... wanna leave... It sucks, but we need as many questions answered if we wanna solve this... and you can't really... answer them if no one asks them..."
Tumblr media
"I wasn't accusing him, either... I was only asking because, if he was up and about, looking for Jojo around that hour, then he might've saw something...?"
He turns to Hiro timidly. Convenient that he's only one podium away!
"U-umm... to which, you didn't answer me if you did see anything, but that's okay because this is probably overwhelming... So I assume you didn't see anything while you were looking for Jojo? You didn't pass by the lounge or anything? Huwah..."
That was the sound of a sad sigh.
Tumblr media
"Well, okay... we probably do need to find out the deal with the knife and jacket, anyway... The jacket was a medium, yeah? So we can easily cross out the bigg'uns... and we still need to hear from Vivian with her glasses and pockets. A-and... if you could tell us your alibi, that'd be great, too..."
"There's... not a lot to work with here. Culprit didn't leave a lotta evidence... That's why I'm so worked up about the obelisk. Glass is confusing. Jacket is confusing. Pills are confusing. But the knife, jacket, and obelisk... I feel like are connected?
The obelisk had to have been moved between 4am and 5:45am, and there was only like 3 or 4... 5 people awake at that time...
Akio was at the gym, Ryuu left to take a bath and came back, Jojo also left to take a bath, and that's when Hiro started looking for him, and Haru said she heard a strange noise...no doubt whoever relocated the obelisk was on the move around this time."
He scratches his head.
Tumblr media
"Ummm... wait... so the deaths happened around 5:30... and Thiccolas was already on the couch by 5:45... ummm, so that means, uhhhh... Haru, you said you were in the kitchen the entire time, and you heard a strange noise... from where? Did you not see anything? Because, um... You were in the kitchen... and the-- there was a... kitchen knife... I-I'm not accusing you, I just-- someone has had to have seen something!"
He's trying so, so hard to connect these facts somehow, but the gears in his brain are so not turning.
"But then... the jacket... and knife... before the obelisk was moved...?" He whines, bending over his podium with his hands over his head as he lets out a stressed out whine. "The bloody jacket is telling me that Katia's murder must've been predetermined, and not an accident...
Ugh!!! Are Katia and Shinji's deaths even related to each other?! This is so confusing! There's still shit unsolved with the sleeping pills-- if they were used by Shinji, then what's up with the neck bruises??
Did-- were they, um-- did they get those bruises... while he was asleep? To make the death...
Painless..."
oh fuc

Chapter 4: Slice
Words: 2006
You had a hard time falling asleep that night, where you just wasted your time here. When you told your dad you wanted to become a doctor he was confused, saying maybe being a nurse was more up your alley, but he finally accepted the fact you would be going to school to become a doctor. He was even more excited to hear you were in the top 5 of your class and that things were coming easily to you.
But the tool of the same thing over and over again when you just wanted to get your hands in there already was boring you to death, once you got into residency it would just be more mundane boring stuff. Talking to people every day about their pollen allergies, even dermatologists took forever to get their degree. You were already a pro with a scalpel and stitching according to your teachers.
“It’s sad to see you wasting your potential.”
You punched your pillow in anger again, what right did he have, maybe you were only interested in him since he was the one who gave Akio his just deserts and he was the first one you could talk about your urge to use your quirk. Still, at the end of the day, he was a villain, he wasn’t going to come back huh, maybe it's for the best, just go back to where you were before, the sheer boredom of it all.
You couldn't stand that as you got out of bed, it was late but you put on some loungewear and headed out, you were not about to go back to living every day with mundane occurrences again. You kept looking around the campus for anything that would lead you to him. A few students were coming back from drinks and you kept walking only to see Akio letting a very intoxicated girl lean on his arm as he held up. You were pissed off now, not even a day out of the hospital and he is already back to his scumbag ways.
You followed the both of them and he was heading to the male dorm area, the girl was too drunk to even notice anything, you watched as he helped her up the stairs and you followed behind him as he closed the door. You went next to the door and put your nail against the lock before shooting your talon out breaking the lock, and you opened the door, and there was Akio on the couch with a passed-out girl.
“So this is helping a girl get home huh,” you said, and Akio head shot up
“You!?” he said getting up “This isn’t what it looks like, I was just.” “Going to take advantage of a drunk girl, the day after you got out of the hospital.” you said “I know your type, you act like a wuss to have girls let their guard down, how many people have been your victim.”
“Hey just calm down, I wasn't going to do anything,” he said
“Is that why your pants button is undone along with your zipper.” you said “You are the talk of the class right now, poor Akio getting attacked by a big bad villain, how much sympathy did this girl give you?” you asked letting your talons out
“I’m going to call the campus police.” He said
“Go ahead, wonder what the whole story will be when they see a drunk passed out girl on your couch,” you said
“What do you want?” Akio said
“Well I would like it if you left this school.” you said “But you won't do that, you won't curve your bad habit. you'd just end up doing this somewhere else”
“Stay back, I'm warning you.” He said, man, you really had him scared huh, you just want to get this girl out
“I really hate people like you,” you said walking over and picking up the girl who just kinda groaned.
Hawks was laying out on top of the building, maybe he had been a bit too hard on you earlier. Still, sometimes people need a wake-up call, he was twiddling Akio's wallet he stole, maybe it would be funny if Akio saw it returned like he was still being watched by him. Hawks stood off the end of the building and flew down to locate his dorm shouldn't be too hard, still, when he saw through his feathers the door was open he flew down to see Akio on top of you with his hands around your throat as you gashing on his sides for dear life, with a passed out girl in the doorway. Hawks was starting to see red or maybe it was just the feathers he sent on Akio pinning him to the wall by his clothes. You started to cough and tried to catch your breath.
“(name) what are you doing here,” Hawks asked taking off one of his Primary wings and it growing sharper
“Cough cough...it's a long story, he was going to assault that girl,” you said gesturing to the girl in the doorway
“Well I’ll ask later on how you got yourself into this situation, take the girl out I’ll handle him.” Hawks said, you nodded your head and picked the girl up and dragged her outside
“You..you know (name),” Akio said
“A bit, we meet when you attack her in the ally way.” Hawks said, “I thought I’d let you off with a warning but it seems like you didn't learn anything, and you tried to strangle her to death.”
“I wasn’t-”
“Shut up man, I know that look you had in your eyes, it's the one I have now.” Hawks said, “I'll make this quick.”
You dropped her off outside the female dorms, this is where your adventure for the night would end, you wondered what Hawks was going to do to Akio, you decided to head back, you knew that the handprints would be visible, lucky you had a couple of scarves. You sat down at a bench near the back of the school and let out a long breath before you heard a familiar gush of wind and someone landed behind you.
“Hey….so uhmm, your neck okay?” Hawks asked
“It's fine, I don't think anything has collapsed,” you said
“That's good, now can you tell me what happens?” Hawks asked looming over you
“I went out for a walk-”
“Late at night?”
“Yes, I couldn't sleep because of what you said earlier, ugh I must be mad for letting the words of a villain get to me.” “And I must be mad for saying that.” Hawks said, “Look (Name) I know you have something in you that drives you, but look you couldn't even defend yourself from one guy.” Hawks said, “If I didn't show up you would have died.”
“I know that.” you said “I wasn’t expecting to run into him doing that, I got so angry that someone would have been a victim, and no one was coming to help.”
“Well I'm just glad you didn’t die tonight.” he said flicking your forehead “Here hope on i'll fly you back to your dorm.”
“Hope into where?” you asked
“On my back in between my wings of course.” He said turning around and pointing to in between his shoulder blades
“I’m not so sure about this,” you said
“Come on I know you want to,” he said fluttering his wings
“No spins of loop de loops and you won't drop me either.” You said
“(name) if I wanted you dead I wouldn't just drop you and let you splatter on the ground, I have more class than that.” he said, which didn't help calm your nerves “Look I won't drop you either just hop on, it will be fun.”
Ah yes taking a joyride through the sky with a dangerous villain will be fun, still what else do you have to lose, so you decided to hope on
“This is weird,” you said
“Nah, now hold on.” he said, as he flew up and you wrapped your arms around his neck, shutting your eyes tight “ack (name) can't breath, look it isn't that scary see, hold onto my shoulder I won't let you fall.”
You reluctantly opened your eyes as you still had a firm hold around Hawks, the city lights looking more like fireflies now
“Wow so this is birds' eye view.” you said “But Hawks how are you flying if your wings aren't moving?”
“Haha well I move my fathers, I only really like to move them when I'm trying to get away, and I don't want you falling off.” He said, “also why there are no photos of my face anywhere, they don't have a camera that is fast enough.”
“Makes sense.” you said, “so Hawks why are you on the run anyway, you don't seem like the stereotypical villain.”
“Hahaha thanks, I guess?” Hawks said, “It's kind of a long story but to keep it short I don't want to work under some bureaucracy, I just want to relax and live my life, but at the same time, I can't help but see people in need and want to help them, but working under someone thumb isn’t for me.”
“I don't think I could see you working for someone either.” you said “Meanwhile what I'm going for, is that you are always going to be working under some.”
“Well, it's never too late to change your mind.” Hawks said as he landed in front of your dorm “Thank you for using the nighthawks delivery service.”
“Thanks, hawks, for everything,” you said
“Of course chickadee.” he said “Keep your head down low for the next couple of days though.”
And with that vague warning, he was off once again, oh how lucky he was to be able to fly off and be free whenever he wanted.
Still, all good things must come to an end as you saw police tape surrounding the boys' dorm, everyone was talking amongst themselves the next morning.
“What happened here?” you asked
“Someone was found dead in their dorm, they say it was break in.” Someone said
“Wonder why?” you said but you knew why, still you decided to just head to class but for some reason the door was locked, you rolled your eyes and checked your phone only to see a message that due to a tragedy on school ground class was canceled for the day, just great.MIght as well have a free day in your dorm then as the other students were watching Akio being pulled out in a body bag, Fumiko noticing your nonchalant to this and gulped.
You were enjoying some funny cat videos and enjoying a cup of tea when there was a knock on your door, just great wasn’t this support to be a free day. You got up and opened it to see Fumiko.
“(name) didn’t you hear about what happened.” She said
“I heard someone was found dead in their dorm room.” You said
“It was Akio (name), he is dead.” She said
“Okay and you are telling me this why?” you asked
“(name) even if you didn't like him, you should still care if he is dead.” She said
“Well I'm not,” you said
“You know (name) everyone in the class was telling me how cold and mean you were, and I thought they were wrong, I thought you were nice but I was wrong-”
“Oh can it Fumiko, you only talked to me because you felt bad for me is that right, you had no intention of being my friend, you just felt guilty of me being the weird person in the class, and mooched off my notes, now your shitty friend is dead.” You said and felt a harsh slap across your face “want me to turn the other cheek?”
“YOU ARE A HORRIBLE CRUEL HEARTLESS PERSON!” She said and ran off, oh well if that's what she thought no reason to try and change her mind.

Chapter 3: Getting interesting
Words: 2176
You sat alone at your desk that day, looking over at Fumiko who saw you looking knowing that you knew that she was looking at you, and quickly turned her head, she must have felt ashamed about how everything was handled. You were paying attention like usual when you overheard some girls talking.
“So did you hear that Akio got put in the hospital by the nighthawk.” one said
“Really, you would think the heroes would have caught him by now.” the other one said, you had to hold your tongue saying how Akio was actually a bastard and had it coming that night, still then people would talk about you and your involvement and right now you had to finish school, four years of this wasn't about to be flushed down the drain because you were interested in this so-called villain, still it brought up a lot of questions now, how many of these attacks were actually prompted, what other tricks was he able to pull off.
You left your last class around 9 at night, night classes always sucked but what else could you do as you kept walking down the pavement only to see something bright red catch your eye. You stopped to make sure your eyes weren't playing tricks on you as you saw the red feather laying on the ground the other way, was this another “gift” of his?
Curiosity may have killed the cat but satisfaction brought it back, so you went over to the feather and it moved down the street, was he playing with you, it was either follow the feather or go home and do more boring work. So you followed the feather to satisfy your curiosity as you went down the street. What exactly was he doing as the feather stopped outside a public park? It was empty or so you thought as you picked up the feather and walked in.
“I believe you dropped this,” you said looking up in a tree to see him with his foot dangling down
“Oh is that where I left it, you are doing me a big favor by bringing it here,” he said as the feather flew out of your hand and attached back to his wings
“I know you can control them, so what is this about?” you asked
“What about it, I am just chilling in a tree.” he said, “you are the one who followed my feather-like a baby duck following its mother.” “I am not a baby duck.” you said “Why do you keep leaving them for me to find?”
“Because...we are both birds,” he said
“You have to be kidding me, I'm not a bird,” you said
“Sure you are, you got them sharp talons, you can do some serious damage to someone if you wanted, is that why you want to become a doctor.”
“Excuse me, how do you know that?” you said
“I can also hear through my feathers you know.” he said “And see, like how a dolphin has echolocation.” “More like a platypus and it's bill,” you said
“Hahah true, true.” he said “When you sliced open my feather oh so rudely the other day, I was also able to see all your textbooks.” He said stretching his wings out “is why you want to become a doctor, because it's the only way you can cut people open without being labeled violent.”
“...” you were silent as one of his bigger feathers nudge your face
“You can tell me.” he said “I am not one to judge here, you know.”
“Why are you so interested in that?” you asked
“Tell you what, you tell me the truth and ill tell you something interesting about my glorious self,” he said
“Okay fine, you got me okay, I don't know what it is but as a child I would find dead animals and just want to use my talons to study them more, I was curious about it,” you said
“Well birds gotta fly, you gotta do that.” Hawks said, “So did your parents find out.”
“They did, they sent me to therapy and I suppressed it, till well I was doing dissection in class and well old habits die hard I guess,” you said
“You are telling me.” Hawks said, patting your head with one of his wings “So then what happened?” “I got sent to the school therapist, again, and she told me my curiosity was good but wasn't being used the right way and that there are other ways to learn about stuff and maybe biology was my passion, but using a scalpel can only go so far.”
“I get that like I can fly a plane, but it isn't anything like using my wings.” Hawks said, “Now my turn, hm let's see what can I tell you.”
“Why are you a villain?” you asked
“I don't like people telling me what to do, I like to do what I want on my terms.” He said, “I can't exactly do that if someone has their hands on my wings.”
“So you don't see yourself as a villain?” you asked
“Not really, the Hero public safety commission has been trying to get their hands on me since I was a child, maybe that's why I;m able to be better than most trained heroes.”
“Really now,” you said, so that's why they were so adamant about catching him.
“Haha, they won't ever catch me.” Hawks said “Anyway, I think you need to stop suppressing your quirk. When I saw you use your quirk on that guy who attacked you, you got scared after using your quirk on him.”
“I was mostly angry at him, why did you go after him?” you asked
“It's what I do, I see someone hurting someone else. I don't care if they are a hero, villain, or civilian.” “Well right now you are the only one who is on my side,” you said kicking the ground
“Funny, I feel the same way about you.” He said with a smile, you laughed a bit
“YOu aren't anything like I expected.” you said “I read so many news stories about how you were some evil killer villain, yet here you are having a full conversation with a civilian.”
“Hahah it's kinda funny when you think about it, you get bored easily huh?”
“I do and I hate it.” you said swinging your arms out “I mean each day something over and over again, learning stuff I already know just so I can satisfy my quirk.”
“Well if you got talons use them, you don't see me not using my wings.” he laughed with you “Still you should enjoy your boredom when you can.” “Haha I’ll try, thanks hawks I feel better,” you said
“I feel better too, when you are running from the law you don't have time to sit back and talk much, most people run away screaming.” “Hmm wonder where they would get that idea from,” you said
“Haha yeah wonder where.” Hawks said before his laughter died down. “Still it's getting late. You should head back to your dorm and enjoy a nice cup of tea.”
“I will, thanks for talking to me, you think we will talk again?” you asked
“Maybe if our paths cross again,” he said standing up in the tree
“What does that mean?” you asked, he just tilted his head before smiling, and in the blink of an eye, he was gone only with a gust of wind left in your face.
Maybe it was the fact you were smiling all day the next day that Fumiko was getting worried about you since at lunch she walked over
“Hey…(name) can we talk?” she asked
“Sure,” you said
“Well, Akio is getting out of the hospital and I would like if we can all talk this out,” she said
“Fine, I'll 'talk 'to him,” you said, wanting to see his face and maybe giving him a couple of good slaps.
“Great, I'm glad we can all sweep this under the rug,” she said, no you were not going to sweep this under the rug, what delusional world was she living in.
Still, you went with her to the hospital to see this man again, you and her went into his hospital room and he was slashed up, good you thought.
“Hey Akio how are you feeling?” she asked
“I'm doing good, thanks,” he said
“That's too bad,” you said crossing your arms
“(name) Akio is recovering can’t you try to forgive him?” she asked
“Forgive him, after what he tried to pull,” you said
“Hey, I was drunk. I didn't know what I was doing.” he said.'' Besides, didn't pay the price, I almost died.” you rolled your eyes
“Oh please if the Nighthawk wanted you dead you would be dead.” you said “I let me tell you i will never forgive you, oh you were drunk, you seem sober enough to try to get me home, to walk out of the bar without stumbling, the only reason I'm not taking this to the police is that I know shit bags like you get off with this every time.”
“Hey I was just trying to be nice!” he said, ” Hey Fumiko I thought you said you were here to smooth things over.”
“That's what I thought.” Fumiko said “Hasn't he suffered enough?
“No,” you said, “and if I see you come near me on campus again, you will wish the NIghthawk killed you.”
“(NAME)!” she yelled at you grabbing your arm, you brushed her off
“You are just as bad as he is,” you said and stomped out you got your message across by slamming the door.
You had better things to do anyways like reviewing your notes, you were getting bored again as you tapped your pencil on your desk.
Hawks on the other hand had just got done stopping a purse snatcher, where were the heroes anyway he thought that there should be more around this time as he reattached one of his bigger Primarie feathers, his work still wasn’t done for the night crime never slept there was always something going on somewhere. But he was getting hungry so he might as well grab something to eat as he landed in an alleyway and hid his wings and put his jacket over and walked into a convenient store to grab a bite.
“Is that all?” he asked
“Yup.” Hawks said
“Okay your total is 580 yen,” he said, hawks took out his coin pouch and paid the man, before leaving, convenience store food was easy to get and rather cheap but he was worried he was gonna gain a gut at this point, with his wings he wouldn't have anything hindering his flight ability, he wondered how miss talons were doing right now, maybe he would stop by for a visit.
You were about to pass out at your desk when you heard a tapping at your window, you looked over and saw Hawks hanging upside down tapping at your window. You walked over and opened the door.
“Oh so our paths do meet again it seems,” you said
“You know it chickadee,” he said. “Man convenience store food is good and all but it's so greasy.”
“How do you pay for that?” you asked
“I take money off the people I beat up.” Hawks said, “You look like you are in a bad mood?”
“I am,” you said
“What's got you under the weather?”Hawks asked
“Akio is getting out of the hospital and everyone is telling me to forgive him when I'm not.” You said
“Ahh well if it makes you feel better, I stole his wallet the other day.” Hawks said, you rolled your eyes
“I wish that made me feel better, I don't know why everyone is thinking I'm in the wrong here,” you said
“People are complicated, they don't like to believe someone they know is capable of doing dirty things.” Hawks said rubbing his chin “You can either let other people get you down when you are in the right, or you can know you are right and say screw em.”
“I say they screwed them.” you said “It feels nice to have someone on my side for once, this school sucks.”
“Why don't you leave, do something worth your time?” Hawks asked
“I...can’t,” you said
“OH, I see.” Hawks said, narrowing his eyes and flipping back up on the pole to his feet, “And here I thought you were different.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” you said getting a little upset with him
“Nothing, nothing, I just thought you were a woman who did stuff worth her time is all, it's sad to see you wasting your potential here.” Hawks said
“I'm not wasting-” you want to say but a large gust of wind hit your face again and you sighed, before slamming the window shut in anger, anger that you felt like he was right.
