for me is really funny when hawks answers AFO's why villains are feared with "because they do bad things" since he is actually a child soldier, has killed following orders from the HEROES' commission which it is heavily implied decided who poses a threat and who doesn't (very unethical and also very much dictatorial xd)

so like, hawks, if THAT is your definition of villains i have bad news: *you* are most definitely a villain, and so are many "heroes" out there.

‘The experiences of one’s youth, determine the entirety of one’s life…’

As much as I have my reservations about the direction in which BNHA is heading, i still absolutely love how certain secondary plot threads are being continued or developed.

Especially this one, god.

Because this panel, and AFO’s words, dont just refer to tomura, who’s obviously led a shit life but has managed to bond with some people at least, but indirectly also reflects on Aizawa.

And its the placement of characters in this scene that really gets to me. I mean, Kurogiri had no logical reason behind dropping Mic there- specifically where Aizawa is. But he does. And he talks about the feelings one harbours towards one’s friends, the panel zooming in on Aizawa, which i think is completely intentional.

The feelings that Aizawa still harbours towards Shirakumo, the memories of the three of them, including Midnight (why hasnt hori sensei mentioned her yet what even)

And I’m really glad we got this scene because hell when has Aizawa’s feelings ever been mentioned? And I’m talking verbally. As readers we always just knew thanks to Vigilantes and this in fact being a shounen manga (and that one scene where he bawled his eyes out because of dry eye, sure Aizawa we believe you,) but this man will never spit out the words so I’m glad its coming through at least this way.

As interesting as this scene is, pls come back Shirakumo, come back as someone who recognises his memories of rooftop trio, and at the same time realises that right now, the one he wants to protect, Tomura, is actually suffering a great deal.

“is that,, is that what i think it is?” your eyes flicked to his, a wave of surprise hitting you as you saw the absence of malice in his eyes. before you could answer his question, he continued,

“yeah it is. huh.”

“what’s that supposed to mean?” you asked, a frown slowly starting on your face.

“i didn’t think someone like you would have such good taste in food.” your frown was full blown now. a retort sprung to the tip of your tongue, but the man in front of you silenced it with a cheeky smile, one you didn’t think was possible from someone like him.

a soft thump arises as you set the coffee down, looking at the receipt in your hand.

“um, one black coffee for xiao?” you look up, and you try not to ogle the man in front of you as he draw the coffee nearer to him, not looking at you.

“yes that’s right.” he said softly, his beautifully shaped hands making space for the new item. you wanted to stay, to talk to this angel of a man in front of you, but alas, work called.

you let out an inaudible sigh as you left, sparing one last glance at the man behind you. as time passes, xiao fills your thoughts, his voice filling your ears. as if you almost manifested him, you get another order from xiao.

trying to hide your giddiness, you not so carefully navigated your way through the cafe, caution and slowness flying out the window at the prospect of hearing the man’s voice again, seeing his eyes glance at you and away.

you place his order down at the table, and a shy smile springs to your lips. you want to say something to him, but your lips stay stagnant, stubbornly not moving as thousands of possible words get stuck in your throat. disappointed, you turn around, starting to leave before a voice pierces through your gloom.

“um, what’s your name?”

the words stuck in your throat un-lodge. as your name tumbles out from your lips, a soft hum comes from xiao as he nods, his eyes swallowing your heart whole.

“that’s pretty.” he hesitates, stopping the next words that were about to come out of his mouth. you nod politely and leave again, your heart on a temporary high from talking to him.

after a bit though, the high fades and you’re left wanting more, as if he was a sweet candy you couldn’t get enough of. your mind had decided that, most likely, the interaction you both just had was the last you would ever had. your heart, on the other hand disagreed.

and this time, your heart was right.

you placed xiaos new order down at his table, politely smiling and willing your heart not to splatter your feelings everywhere.

you breathed through your nose, feeling lightheaded as xiaos eyes pierced you, the gaze so intense you could feel yourself hearing up.

“i um. i missed my chance to ask you last time. so i got another item.” before you could reply he took a deep breath and out stumbled the words,

“can i get your number?”

Honestly if bkdk doesn’t become even close to them being like duo partners, or like just being very close friends in the end, imma be so confused.

Like how will they explain the whole chasing thing, the constant keep your eyes on me, are you gonna be able catch up to me cuz I’m going ahead to the “can I ever catch up to you Izuku?”

Taking the AllMight card they got as kids together to war and thinking about it before he died!?? Reaching out to him, calling him by his name and ending up in the vestige world…

Like how are these not romantic? Honestly, Hori could’ve easily made Ochako be part of all of these tropes, as the love interest she could’ve had at least been the one to know OFA secret, or even a moment where they stranded somewhere or in a mission to defeat a villain.

I guess that’s where mangaka don’t know how to write female protagonist, but if Midoriya and Ochako do become canon, they had a lot of space to have almost similar plot but instead of Bakugo it could’ve been Ochako.

She is a smart with a powerful quirk, and if she is endgame then I will have to agree with the statement that Hori doesn’t know how to write female characters. But that’s only if Midoriya and her become canon, cuz there was soo much potential to give her more character development, instead of giving it to Bakugo.

Bakugo is one of my favorite characters tho, and it’s fascinating to see the relationship he already has with other characters.

The position for best friend is already given to Kirishima. He was in the hospital when Midoriya wakes up after Bakugo got kidnapped, and states that this must be harder on Midoriya than it is to him, which is why he wants to go looking for him. Best friend is asking the closest person to join him to save Bakugo.

His true rival is Todoroki, they are always in equal footing, from the beginning with their developing ideas of what is hero, to them failing the exams, all the way to the war.

Bakugo is the only one with no love interest, which is okay honestly and technically doesn’t have to mean anything, but how are you gonna counter the idea that he is obsessed with Midoriya.

I know MHA is not gonna end with a bkdk kiss, or like them pronouncing their love for each other bc this disgusting world is still very homophobic. But I want them to at least be the first people to they see when they wake up from the hospital or something. Probably like a Mustang and Hawkeye relationship, not official but obviously something.

¯\ _(ツ)_/¯ but I don’t know, this is just me ranting. If anyone wants to talk about MHA with me pls message me. I have bkdk brain rot but I’m not close minded, I love all of the characters. And I know how people talk about Hiro rushing the manga, but he is doing it at the same pace as always. For example from the very start you have Midoriya getting OFA and it’s just like a montage of him working out, not much of a full arc of him training. And it’s a lot of character growth. The important ones have the scream time and other have crumbs but it’s enough for me to understand the dynamic.

Hiro doesn’t hold hands with his writing. So if he is just writing a very close friendship with these guys and not make it anything else then I been played. Bc they have examples of caring friends around them, like Todoroki, Iida, Kirishima and Ochako. Almost everyone at 1A are fighting for each others smiles, but none of them go to the extent of the wonder duo!

Even Aizawa states that when both of them are involve, they change the dynamic in the class. They inspire others to try harder and have this thing about them that even All Might admires about both of them.

It annoys me, when I see people complain about bakugou and all might surviving. They claim its bad writing and go they both fullfilled their arcs they didnt need to live any longer. They also call bnha a mickey mouse manga, because there isnt more deaths.

Honestly same. But Hori has been very solid and upfront with his story's hopeful themes and messages, that I've actually been eating perfectly well in the manga lately! And it would've been a huge narrative waste (bc no they didn't, more deaths =/= 'good' writing; you don't just kill a character off once you run out of ideas for them; that's the easy way out, and I'm glad Hori decided Endeavor lives too for the harder route to give the family actual closure; have patience bc the story's not over yet, but yes pls work for it!) and against everything he's writing for if he actually did what those dudes want. Just for the edge. So I consider that a good thing, and I actually prefer how Hori (who's very genre savvy) trolls handles his tropes and subverts common expectations to write what he wants. (Even moreso than ONE sometimes esp during the manga's redrawn Garou arc, where Hori coincidentally used some of the exact same tropes, but by now I can conclude that Hori simply executed them stronger within his own sandbox, and absolutely more than Gege, whose style I just don't vibe with - but you know this already. :'D)

And you know what? You can safely ignore most of twitter's trashiest bnha takes anyway, because most of them aren't even fans who read the story at all - they either hate on it for clout (bc it's popular) or monetized engagement and often parrot misinformation off each other without actually legitimately taking a critical look at the work itself to decide for themselves. That, or they complain because the story is not going the way they want (expect) it to (meaning Hori is against writing just like the other common edgy 'kill em all' trends as seen in aot/jjk/csm - GOOD for him! cause bnha is not that kind of story!!! this should be obvious) and they're bitter/jealous that other fans are still having fun with it, etc. I've already seen it all. So if they're genuinely upset and not enjoying it anymore, then good riddance once they finally decide to leave/drop it, cause that means more food for us and perhaps the fandom itself will become that much more tolerable again. :P

I’m at a loss for words. Lmao.

Leaving aside the new spoilers which I'm going to assume aren't actually like... as bad as they seem, because if Enji even consumed Deku's arc then there are no words for how bad that is writing-wise--

It's a whole mess. It's become a jumbled mess of retcons that could work, where I see the intention, but where the execution is so bad it just feels like induced whiplash. Just because I can see what Hori's trying to do doesn't mean it works, because it just flat doesn't.

The retcon with his dad is like... hoo boy. Okay. Let's step back for a minute and look at the intent and execution.

Intention: It does make sense for Enji to have serious issues after his father died trying to save a little girl. First of all, Enji could feel like prioritizing others over family is the heroic thing to do. Enji could at the same time be struggling with resentment over this, and that result in him bleeding resentment and his issues into how he interacts with his family, and how he intertwines family and being a hero.

Additionally, Enji could be struggling with the idea of weakness. He misses his father, and wishes his father hadn't died. Weakness led to his father dying, so if he's strong, his child self wouldn't have to suffer. Tragically and ironically, he then ends up inflicting trauma on his own kids instead of healing his own.

This works. It really does. Where it all falls apart is the execution.

Execution: It is WAY too late in both Enji's arc and the story itself to give this revelation the resonance it needs and deserves. It had absolutely zero set up. None. Zilch. Enji's character traits alone are not set up.

To explain what I mean by set up, let's look at the set up for the Dabi=Todoroki Touya reveal. We had Dabi introduced with that mysterious "too bad, Todoroki Shouto" line that bled familiarity in Japanese. We had Natsuo early on saying to Rei that he couldn't forgive for what Enji had done to "you, Shouto, and...." And that was all before we even had Touya referenced by name, and his story became increasingly clear to us before Dabi even told us his name.

Compare that to this. We never had Enji thinking "if only..." or "damn my old man" or anything like that despite dozens of chapters in Enji's head. The narrative never asks us to wonder about Enji's family. Even if Enji is repressed, and he is, we could have had Rei being like "after what happened to his father..." or Shouto being like "Dad never talks about his family" or "I never knew my grandparents." We don't have any of that.

That's why, even if the characterization could neatly slot in, it doesn't work to suddenly bring this up so late in the story. It doesn't impact Enji's arc because Enji's arc was never about confronting the ghosts of his past, but instead confronting the monster he became. These could easily have been entwined, but they weren't.

Instead, the story set up Enji's arc as a failed hero who projected his failures onto his children and wrought destruction as a result. It set up the main question of Enji's arc to be not how great he is as a hero--Shouto already thinks he's a great hero cue chapter 193! Half the story ago!--but how he will be as a father instead. Shouto reminds Enji of this again, and again, and again throughout the second half of the story. And now it's just Enji actually needs to be a hero because he has to confront the ghosts of his dead father, so it's fine for him to have being a hero as the crux of his arc.

That's bad writing. It's cheap. I want to care. I don't care about Enji and his father because it was never brought up, so how am I supposed to find catharsis in this moment? What are the emotional stakes? They're made of paper, not stone. I feel nothing seeing him prove himself a great hero--again.

I want to see him save his goddamn sons.

Would you rather have hawks humiliated and killed/almost killed for his bad choices or for him to have some type of "self reflection/emotional breakdown" (assuming he has enough human feelings for that lol) and stop fighting or something? (I swear i dont want you to feel offended by this ask and pls dont think im hating hawks he is one of my faves i swear i just wish hori would write him with intense emotions and losing his shit for once 😭)

I want to see him reach self-actualization. So no, seeing him humiliated and killed means nothing to me. I wanted him to face the consequences of his actions and he is now. Toga's rampage is a direct fallout of his murder of her best friend, so I'm satisfied on that front. What I wish to see now is some character growth. So far Hawks has only been running away and burying his head in the sand to avoid reexamining his choices, but he can't murder his way to redemption. Killing Twice is his karmic bad, his lowest point as a hero who supposedly wants to rescue people, and he can't get out of it by insisting it was morally good, actually, and murdering someone else.

This is why people who think I'm a Hawks hater are wrong. I'm actually very invested in him surviving this manga and healing. I don't want him to be miserable or to die defending a corrupt system. I want him to be a person. I want him to acknowledge his own trauma and to stop screwing over other victims in an effort to pretend like his past and theirs is not exactly the same. Hawks did everything wrong and I don't want that to be brushed off or made light of, but he's also a victim of the system itself, no matter how much he pretends the HPSC didn't prey on his poor and marginalized family for their own gain. So long as he keeps siding for the mentality that produces villains, he cannot save them, but he also cannot save himself, and I don't want that. I want him to heal just as much as I want the villains to heal

Eminence in shadow is great new isekai anime.

Story follows A boy in modern-day Japan desires to be a mastermind who exerts power from the shadows, but in the process of training, gets hit by a truck and dies. He is reborn in a fantasy world as Cid Kagenou, where he maintains a perfectly mediocre appearance as to not stand out and pursue his dream of manipulating from the shadows.

A comedy isekai fantasy with an overpowered

mc. In which a boy becomes a ruler in shadow 

also known as Eminence In Shadow.

5. Bleach Thousand Years Blood War

Any anime fan should know which anime bleach is and if you don't you are not an anime fan. In which I am disappointed to say this not an anime for you. As for those who knows they'd know that it a season 2 finally. So go and watch.i am saying anything more you should already know why it's in 5th place.

An amazing new anime which was released this year. Which many anime fans swarm to and became content for my tiktok videos. The follows Dr. Goro is reborn as the son of the young starlet Ai Hoshino after her delusional stalker murders him. Now, he wants to help his new mother rise to the top, but what can a child do about the dark underbelly of the entertainment industry. An amazing anime that shows you the dark side of the entertainment industry. A worth watch.

I am sure every knows demon slayer. An anime with an amazing art style and a story. Well, it's the 3rd season of the it. Which was released this year. With an new exciting and thrilling arc.

But man, I can't tell if these white wings are supposed to be symbolic of purity and innocence (for the irony, I bet) of rebirth and rejuvenation, but his wings were already to be confirmed to not return, unless it's metaphorical because we're returning to the "Let's fly together" plot with Twice MAYBE, or Hori plans on sending him to heaven with Bakugo pls no I'll cry. I'm thinking about the loss of color like Touya's red hair going white, it's too angsty. Why the white wings Hori, give us answers I don't think I'm brave enough to find out 😭 they seem a little tattered and yellow at the edges too, WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN??? 😰

I wasn't aware that he was confirmed to be an angel in that poll art? Or are we just assuming he is based off it being a fantasy au and he has white wings?

It was an interesting choice to give them to him for the reasons you point out but also for reasons other anons have pointed out in the past (how messy the wings looked as if they had been created and not natural).

I haven't seen anyone point out the change in colour is similar to what happened to Touya though which is definitely making me go 👀at the possibilities.

I am still upset that Hawks wings are confirmed to not be able to grow back at full strength (though whether that means he won't have a full set of wings I'm not sure, they just seem to be coming back slower), but that's also because I'm a Hawks stan and didn't want him to be so badly hurt (plus spite from people saying he deserved to lose them or that he would be "free" if he did >.>).

Maybe there was no deeper meaning behind the image and we're just picking apart what we want to see? But isn't that what literary and art analysis is about? To perceive meanings that could be there even if it was never the intention of the creator?
