Summary: Everyone knows about the history of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. But there's a well kept story within the paddock about Sebastian Vettel and another Webber. This is that story.

2009, Albert Park

Moving from Toro Rosso to Red Bull has been the source of excitement of Sebastian ever since he signed the contract last December. He was excited to work with a bigger team and it opened up better opportunities for a championship which is why he feels really giddy walking to Albert Park.

"Seems like a good year for a championship?"Christian greeted Sebastian.

"I'm looking forward to that, the car feels nice"Sebastian agreed.

When the two walked to the garage, they immediately saw the Webber siblings discussing with some of the mechanics. Mark immediately waved at Sebastian.

Sebastian can tell that their dynamics improved since it was announced that they will be teammates. They spent a lot of time together in Milton Keynes so they found each other tolerable. It was surprising that now he feels a lot more closer to Mark than to Y/N.

He was actually expecting her to be around when they said Mark will be around Milton Keynes but the female Webber never showed up. Mark says that Y/N has been taking some time off since she will be busy during the season. Sebastian thinks he might be the reason why she has been absent so he felt a little relieve to see her.

"Excited for the first race of the season?" Y/N asked.

"The car seems alright, I think we can bring some good points in"Sebastian replied.

"We're gonna bring in a challenge this year, I can feel that we can compete for the drivers and constructors championship this year"Mark added

"How about Brawn, do you think they'll be a challenge?"Y/N wondered.

Sebastian heard about the team during the winter break. It was sort of a crazy story about how everything happened. He never saw Jenson or Rubens as a threat so he thinks that they might be an okay team that he doesn't have to worry about.

"They are a new team, I'm sure they won't be a threat" famous last words.

Brawn GP turns out to be a slight threat. Sebastian calls it a slight threat since this was only the first race and maybe its just their luck that they managed to pull away. They have to see how they perform in the next few races.

It was quite a bummer that Red Bull was unable to bring any points. It frustrated him heavily since he started 3rd and managed to stay 2nd the whole race until that unfortunate collision with Kubica that ruined his race.

Mark managed to finish the race but he finished 13th. Still out of the points.

As Sebastian was replaying the whole thing in his hotel room, he heard soft knocks at his door. He didn't remember ordering anything from room service so he was a bit confused as he headed to open the door.

"Hi Seb" it was Y/N "I was sent here by Mark to ask you if you want to go out and eat. You are in Australia and our family is from Australia and it will be a little bit rude if we didn't treat you out in Australia"

"That's too many Australia in one sentence"

"Have dinner with us and the family?"she simplifies "Please?"

There was not much to do anyway, Seb thinks so he accepted the offer. It might also be a good start to rekindle the friendship since its been a while since the two spoke with each other.

"You're driving?"Sebastian asked

"Of course, what kind of host am I if I'm going to make you drive"

The drive was reminiscent of Sebastian's memory when they were in Germany. Only that the view is more of beaches rather than the greens and the cold of Europe.

"I heard stories about you and Mark, it seems that you two are getting along quite well"Y/N opened up the conversation

"Oh he talks about me?"

"Well as his assistant, I have to ask about his work dynamics so yeah you have been a talking point of our conversation"

"That's nice"Sebastian smiles "How is life treating you? I didn't see you in Milton Keynes"

She lets out a heavy sigh and Sebastian could tell that there is a certain tiredness in her eyes. Maybe its true what Mark said that Y/N is actually drained from a season of F1.

"I just have to get away. A lot of pressure to deliver"

Sebastian understands that. Its probably the reason why he also tried to be understanding with Mark's situation as well. He knows that at the end of the day, the sports was brutal in one way or another. Everyone eventually gets that pressure to deliver.

"Let's not talk about f1, lets just talk about basic life things" Sebastian steered the conversation.

There was a smile gracing both of their faces because its just Sebastian and Y/N again. No last names, no championships, just them.

2009, Sepang International Circuit

"I hate wet races" Y/N confirms.

She doesn't get why everyone gets a bit excited with wet racing but she can't find how this is enjoyable for some people. Isn't the thrill of racing beyond speed limit exciting enough for them? Now they even want to race under dangerous weather conditions.

"It test your skills as a driver" Sebastian defended "Back me up here Mark"

"You're on your own Seb"was the reply of the older Webber. He did not want to take side with anyone.

The trio has been sitting at the garage waiting for the race to start. There was still 20 minutes left and Y/N has been stressing about how the dark clouds are looming over. She thinks it may start under dry conditions then go to wet in a snap.

"You can test your skills by overtaking and setting the fastest lap" Y/N noted

"Its all about strategy and taking risks"Sebastian assured.

"You better make sure that the both of you finish the race"

"No promises, Seb might hit me again"Mark joked

"Oh c'mon, I said I was sorry about that"

True enough to Y/N's prediction, the race started on the dry conditions then it ended up to be a wet race. Y/N had her fair share of wet races but this was the most terrifying for her opinion. There were puddles and the drivers can't see a thing with the rain blocking their vision.

It gotten so bad that Y/N actually went out of the driver's room to check on the status of the drivers.

"Aren't they red flagging the race?"she asked one of the mechanics

"There is still nothing from the stewards but Mark is also insisting that the race should be stopped"

Y/N was glad that she wasn't the only sane Webber around.

Just then there was a crash on screen and the weather made it very difficult for them to decipher which car spun but it was for sure a Red Bull. Y/N felt a bit comforted that it just spun without hitting anyone or anything.

"Its confirmed, that is Seb's car"

"Safety car for the lap"

"Webber is gonna ask to stop the race"

There was a flurry of emotions inside the garage. The race was stopped at lap 33 and there was the question if they will wait for it to restart or is it called off completely.

"I'm in 15th, this is not good"Sebastian was already groaning. He missed out on the points again by a big margin.

"Hey 15th is okay than dnf or being hospitalized"

Knowing Sebastian, Y/N knew he wanted to do well and it didn't seem like it was going to how Sebastian had it in his mind earlier this year. She gave him a comforting pat.

"Do you want some ice cream?"she asked

Sebastian looked at her as if she grew two heads "In this cold weather? You are asking for ice cream?"

"Ice cream heals people's boo boo" Y/N shrugged "Besides Kimi made me hungry for ice cream"

"You are crazy" Sebastian started "But c'mon lets go get some ice cream"

2009, Circuit de Catalunya

Mark: Can you see me before qualis at the back of the garage Mark: need your help, please

Sebastian never received any urgent texts from Mark so he must say that his curiosity is piqued by it. He immediately set out to meet Mark in the designated location.

"You need me?"Sebastian asked.

"Sebastian, just the person I needed" Mark seems elated to see him "Listen I need you to do me a favor"

"Okay as long as I don't have to hide a body"

"What?"

"Nevermind that. It was a joke Mark"Sebastian wanted to facepalm himself. Mark never seems to understand his humor especially when he was too excited with things.

"So May 15 is coming up. I need your help to distract my sister and maybe tour her around Spain while we do some preparation at the hotel. I just need your help to distract her for like 3-4 hours"Mark explained.

"15th?What's on the 15th?"

Sebastian was pretty sure that there was no race or other commitments that is happening on the 15th. He tries to rack his head for any important dates on the 15th but he can't remember a thing. Meanwhile, Mark looked offended that Sebastian didn't know the significance of May 15.

"Its Y/N's birthday"Mark answered.

Oh. Now that Sebastian thinks about it, Y/N never told her birthday. He felt like an idiot after realizing how they spend a lot of time together but he still haven't asked her about her birth date. But now that he knows, he makes a mental note of it.

"Okay. I think I can do that. Leave it to me"

"Thanks Seb, I owe you big time"

Seb: Are you still here at the 15th? Y/N: Why are you asking? Seb: I'm feeling adventurous. What do you say about getting lost in spain? Y/N: hmm sounds nice. Count me in.

"How long till we get there"Y/N asked.

They have driven for quite some time already and Sebastian promised that this place will be worth the wait. Sebastian will not admit it but maybe he got a little bit of lost in directions for the past 20 minutes and he is just starting to get the hang of the destination right now.

"Just a few minutes more" Sebastian assured. He can already see the spires of the building so he felt a sigh of relief escape.

"We were lost a while ago, aren't we?"

Sebastian just give out a grin as he continues to drive closer to the place. He stopped at the designated parking lot and unlocked the door.

"Adventure awaits Miss Y/N, welcome to La Sagrada Familia"Sebastian introduced.

When Sebastian was looking for a place to go, the La Sagrada Familia was one of the top hit. Sebastian didn't even consider if she is religious or what but he thinks she can appreciate the reminder that this architecture is still a work in progress and it has managed to endure a lot throughout the years of construction.

"This is beautiful" was her response.

"They say that this will be the most beautiful form of apology when it is finished"Sebastian informed "This was built for the city's sins"

"I beg to disagree"Y/N replied.

It was now Sebastian's turn to be curious.

"I think this is the grandest gesture of someone's love"Y/N elaborated "This went on for years, decades, centuries-they did not stop loving Barcelona that they continue working so that the city will be forgiven"

It was a pretty analogy in Sebastian's mind. He felt like no amount of his research could compare with that realization.

If the outside of the cathedral looks majestic, the inside is beyond what they could imagine. The both of them let out a small woah as they stepped foot into the church.

"You know you can make three wishes when its your first time to enter a church, they say it comes true when you do that"Y/N mentioned "You wanna give it a go?"

Sebastian nodded and he noticed how Y/N immediately closed her eyes.

'A world drivers championship. Happiness. Y/N receiving her wish' was what Sebastian prayed for.

He takes out a peek and Y/N was still in her own solemn state. Sebastian wonders what is it that she wishes for and he hopes that this three wishes thing works. He really wanted Y/N to fulfill her wishes, it will make him extremely happy.

"What did you wish for Y/N"

"Safe races, World Peace, and points for you and Mark" she answered

"Oh c'mon, you don't have things about yourself. Don't you have any personal wishes? Like your own goals or your own things?"Sebastian quizzed

Y/N knew deep down that she wanted something but she knew that saying it at the moment might not be ideal. But heaven knows, she prayed for Sebastian Vettel to stay in her life.

2009, Nürburgring

Y/N didn't mind that she was in heels, she was running as fast as she could to parc ferme. The moment that the last lap started and Mark was still leading, she immediately headed straight to the destination. Their father was already at the pits waiting with the signboard.

There was certainly a mix of emotions. Y/N's mind reel back to how Mark started pole and then had an incident with Hamilton at the start of the race. It caused him to have a penalty which lessens his chances of winning but Mark was in for a mega-drive. He managed to regain all the places that he lost from the penalty and here he is leading the Grand Prix.

Y/N felt her ears ringing as the crowd roars as the chequered flag appeared. Every speaker was blaring out the obvious, this is Mark Webber's first win in Formula 1.

People are starting to line up near the barricades. Y/N doesn't care if she was being pushed but she will be the first one to meet her brother and congratulate him once he gets out of the car.

"YOU DID IT! YOU ABSOLUTELY CRUSHED IT" Y/N screamed to Mark.

Mark did not miss his sister and immediately hugged her tight. He kept on repeating his thanks for her support and for not giving up on him. Y/N could only choke on a sob with the cameras flashing the emotional sibling moment that they shared.

"Congratulations Mark"Sebastian appeared next to him and Mark gave him a hug.

It was a happy day for the Red Bull team for securing double podiums. The whole Red Bull team cannot contain their happiness as the two walked to their podium spots. It is certainly a day that warrants a much needed night out.

So fast forward and Red Bull rented out a club to celebrate the victory of today. Y/N was certain that she deserved to let loose a little with the events that happened today.

Shots after shots, Y/N managed to drink everything up until the room started to feel a little bit wavy. It was a good thing that Sebastian has not been much of a party animal, he knew that this was Mark's time to celebrate so he won't be taking too much of a spotlight.

"You are seriously wasted, you should stop drinking now" Sebastian said, catching Y/N before she could trip in her heels.

"my brother won, can't you believe ittttt"her words are slurred.

"Yep, I'm getting you water and were going back to the hotel"

"NOOOOOO"

But Sebastian has already carried her out of the club. Sebastian knew that there are probably much more people wasted there but Sebastian was focused on Y/N. She was the reason why Sebastian decided to sober up the entire night. Knowing that Mark will be celebrating, no one will take care of Y/N.

Sebastian wanted to take care of her.

The trip to the hotel was smooth as Y/N was asleep at the car. Sebastian was giggling when he picked her up and she started rambling about how there are different kinds of beautiful in formula 1.

"But you know what's the most beautiful thing in f1 that I have seen?" she asked "Its the time where I saw Sebastian Vettel test the car"

Sebastian got curious, he didn't know that Y/N was around when he tested the car.

"And it was so dreamy. There was this beauty about him and you know he is so passionate. He isn't a paid driver or maybe he is but damnnnn the way he raced and the way he loved the wheels"Y/N rambles on.

It feels illegal for Sebastian to be hearing this and he knows he should not take advantage of Y/N's truthful drunkness to hear what she thinks about him. But somehow, Sebastian stayed with her. He tucked her in the bed and left a glass of water at the bedside table.

"Did you know Sebastian Vettel is the prettiest boy ever. He is so pretty like how the sun is so pretty to the plants" Sebastian also laughed at the comparison. Y/N was really really drunk.

"I like Sebastian"

"What?" was Sebastian's shocked question.

"I like sebastian, what sue me? I think he is a pretty pretty boy"

Sebastian feels like his heart is pounding but he has to stay cool. She is drunk right now and she might not be aware of the things she is saying.

"You get some rest, lets talk about this in the morning" Sebastian said as he left the girl.

It took every ounce of his being to prevent himself from confessing that he likes her a lot too. But Sebastian will do his confession sober. If Y/N remembers this incident then they will talk about it. If not, he will wait for the right timing to discuss the feelings he has for her.

Morning came and Y/N did not remember anything.

You know I think you guys might be on to something when you call Sam woman coded cause - genuinely - how do you, as writers of a show, be so misogynistic as to not include any female characters asides from damsels and hookups (specifically referring to the early seasons), and yet need so desperately to have a outlet for macho masculine patriarchy power dynamics that you have an adult male character experience misogyny?? How do you mess up that badly??

It's like, although they thought that putting female characters in the narrative other than to exist as sexy distressed lamps wouldn't appeal to the true blooded 2000s American audience. But yet it was completely necessary for there to be a bottom rung in the masculinity pyramid because - well how else can we as a society function!!

Anyway, ik reading too far into things is my special talent, and in most circumstances all of this stuff is just a joke in the show but wow they really had Dean poking fun of any of Sam's characteristics that don't fit into this Hyper True Blooded American Masculinity ideology as a butt of jokes for 15 years. The fact that he has longer hair, that he cares about his hair, that he's tidy, that he likes salads and isn't a big meat eater, that he's sympathetic, that he's a bitch. And of course these are just silly little jabs that Dean makes in sibling-like fashion but like wow 15 years. Damn.

And of course it's not only this that leads to the rather odd interpretation of a woman-coded Sam, but also the way he is treated directly by the narrative. Like, for example, being the family's possession, rather than an equal member. Dean has seen it as his job to look out for his little brother since he pulled him from the fire and the wellbeing of this infant was thrown onto his shoulders at age 4, and this has created a lot of ricocheting effects on both of them. This isn't to say that Dean doesn't love, care, respect, and value Sam, but it does mean that sometimes he treats him like a possession rather than a person. He makes a lot of crazy decisions in the show that he justifies as being for Sam's own good, even if it goes directly against Sam's wishes. After Sam leaves a note to Dean telling him he's going out for a bit to handle a case, Dean weasels his way in, not trusting him to handle it due to the mental issues Sam is facing at the time, and kills Amy, despite Sam begging him not to. Even though Dean knows Sam would never consent to an angle possessing him, he tricks him into it anyway. He does these things, and many others because he believes that he is acting in Sam's best interests, totally disregarding the fact that Sam has capacity to make judgements and handle the consequences himself, even going so far as to oppose what he directly knows or Sam tells him he wants.

Then of course there is the fact that the fear integral to his character - a loss of autonomy (bodily autonomy, but also autonomy to make his own decisions about his future, to be good, to be pure and faithful), is an explicitly feminine one. Then there is the strong subtext in his story of SA themes, I think in s4 a demon even refers to Sam as a 'whore' or that he's 'whoring it up' (with respect to Ruby), and the interesting prevalent idea of Sam questioning or going against the ideals/ideology of the masculine figure head (which would be Dean I guess) and getting punished for it. Sam suggests that maybe they take a more humanitarian approach with the cow blood drinking vampires in s2 and Dean punches him, Sam tries to get him to talk about their Dad and Dean punches him, Sam tries to get him to talk about Lisa and Ben and Dean punches him, Sam gets caught simply using his abilities and Dean punches him - twice. I think you get the picture.

Anyway. This post comes off as rather critical of Dean, which wasn't really my intention. It's more sort of a broader criticism of the rampant sexism that had its part in shaping the show - being one to come out of the early 2000s. Ideas such as this - you could really go on for hours as its fascinating how ideological frameworks are presented certain ways in media - and the way masculine and feminine social dynamics, to list only one, is presented in supernatural is definitely a can of worms.

Have you noted that no one from Azula's family was shown to express love and affection towards her?

That is mostly true. Ozai's affection is clearly conditional (and full on manipulation at worse, like we see in the finale), Ursa canonically favors Zuko to the point that we never see her spending any alone time with Azula like she did with Zuko, and while Iroh gave her a toy like he did to Zuko the toy in question was so OBVIOUSLY wrong for a kid like Azula that it's comical AND show's he did not really know his niece at all.

But there is a constant exception.

Zuko's relationship with Azula is complicated. He clearly admires her strength and power, but he hates how she uses it. She lied to him many times, was seen apparently cheering Ozai on during the Agni Kai, tried to have him imprisoned and even said she'd celebrate being an only child - and then allows him to come home as a hero after Ba Sing Se, even though SHE had the control of the Dai Li and was not yet aware Aang could have survived, meaning she had nothing to gain from it.

And when she lets him know that if he's caught talking to Iroh people might think he is a traitor too, and explicitly says "Believe it or not, I'm actually looking out for you" Zuko drops his innitial suspicion that she wanted something and that's why she was helping him.

On The Beach, he just follows her when she say their old family home is depressing and they shouldn't waste their time there. When she's asking him who she is angry at, she mentions herself and Zuko explicitly says that is not the case.

He doesn't trust her and know she has a tendency to mock or full on lie to him... yet when he wants to know about Fire Lord Sozin he asks her about it, and lets it slide when she mocks him by saying he should make sure the royal painter got his good side - for a character as quick to anger as Zuko, that is a big deal. In Nightmares and Daydreams he also goes to her to find out if he'll be allowed at the war meeting.

More importantly:

1 - Iroh's infamous "She's crazy and needs to go down" line was only said because ZUKO, without anyone putting that idea in his head before, suddenly went "I know what you're going to say. She's my sister and I should be trying to get along with her"

2 - Zuko only jumped into the fight in Ba Sing Se when Azula was being cornered by Aang and Katara.

3 - Zuko looked genuinely shocked and even distressed when she was falling off that cliff. He just sounded so shaken saying "She's... not gonna make it..."

4 - In the writer's own words, Zuko felt no hate but only pity when seeing her breakdown. Katara tried to comfort him because, canonically, even though Zuko and Azula are enemies, this was never what he wanted because he still sees her as family. That's why the Last Agni Kai's music is not the epic you'd expect from a battle, but a tragic one.

5 - Aaron Ehasz, the lead writter for the show, probably the person with the most influence after Bryke, has REPEATEDLY said that he always felt Azula should have gotten a redemption arc, Zuko being an Iroh figure to give her advice and be the only one still by her side when all else was seemingly lost to her forever.

Even the comics (most of which I HATE, mainly because Azula's storyline checks nearly every box for "the mentally ill are inherently evil/less human, so it's fine if literally every other person on the planet mistreats them") didn't fully abandon their complex dynamic.

Zuko is not a perfect sibling, and for a long chunk of the story he seemed too focused on his own issues for Azula to ever be a factor in his mind (aside from the moments in which she was a potential/explict threat), but he DOES still feel a sense of obligation towards her, to the point that it made him do something no one else in their family had done before or since - actually look at Azula. Not the prodigious daughter/perfect weapon, or the problem child that is difficult to handle, or the pontentially deadly enemy that was in the way, but Azula.

His 14-year-old sister that got on his nerves a lot, was far from the kindest person alive, and that he had a ton of issues with, but that he could never fully hate or even be indifferent to. Because she's family. Because he remembers a happier time in which the gap between them didn't seem so big. Because if things had been slightly different he could have been her. Because he went from wanting to be her to seeing just how miserable her life ended up being - especially compared to the one he now had - and feeling deeply sorry for her.

despite childe's affinity for bloodshed, i'm certain that he would want to be very sweet and motherly towards the person he's fallen in love with. and depending on how much he likes you, he might even go as far as domesticating you.

and because i also self-ship with childe, i think if he were to learn about my family, his desire to domesticate me will grow even stronger. and if you share the same problems as me, that applies to you too lol we are one big self-ship with childe here

childe's life consisted of ice fishing with his dad coupled by stories of heroes and their adventures, frolicking in the snow with his siblings which inevitably end in snowball fights, then coming home to a nice, warm and hearty meal made by his mother which he gets to share with his family. as dinner rolls around, they fall into a pleasant yet noisy conversation. the chaos spurring in the dining room would probably bother anyone but that is to be expected from a household of that size and childe wouldn't have it any other way.

even after falling through the abyss and experiencing the horrors, he has fond memories of his home and because he loves you, he fully expects that your childhood was much the same because it's what he had and what you deserve.

so when childe finds out that you had a horrible childhood, it makes him unbearably upset. maybe even a little violent. what do you mean your parents treated you like that? what do you mean your siblings didn't help you? what do you mean you were all alone with no one to help you, no one to talk to?

it's interesting from a yandere childe perspective too because if you're the type of darling to reject his advances then he'll simply register your unwillingness as a result of neglect and childhood trauma.

this leads to childe wanting to fix you (?) as in he will become the ultimate malewife just to take care of you. it's no wonder you can't accept his love and loyalty, you don't know what it's like to be loved! to be taken care of!! don't worry, he will show you. and if you still reject his advances after that, well, it's not like he'll ever give up until you finally understand just how much you mean to him.

i don't think he'll go as far making your family suffer because yandere or not, he is family-oriented so he respects the concept of family, no matter how fucked up the dynamics are. at the very least, i think he'll just take you far, far away from them. if they do try again though, he will put his foot down. just a little threat here and there. nothing too crazy. (how benevolent of him. are you seeing this, darling? isn't he so kind?)

he is seething, of course. he doesn't understand why anyone would ever want to hurt such a precious thing like you. but no matter, with him around, nobody will ever hurt you like that ever again.

My thoughts on the Fontaine characters rn (pre 4.0)

I saw someone making a post about their thoughts and they were tragically wrong and I disagreed. So here I am, being opinionated.

I'm not gonna discuss leaks, I'm just talking about the character designs and what lore we know from the trailer and teaser :))

Lyney

So, Lyney is great. I love that he's kind of sussy, and his teaser that recently came out is almost... Sinister. And yet, he also checks the boxes of being really fun and extroverted! Venti vibes tbh.

Design wise? His animations are the best in the game, hands down. They suit the performance aspect of his character perfectly and are almost enough to make me pull for him.

Tragically, his character design isn't really for me. I think the simplicity works with the bombastic animations, and I'm glad to see he's wearing a reasonable outfit for the job he does (a rarity in Genshin). And yet, I'm a bit too much of a lesbian to be uber interested in the twinky direction his design leans.

Not pulling.

Lynette

So she's super cute. We have got a lot of cat girls already (I think Lyney should have also been a cat-person tbh) but I love that Lyney isn't actually doing cat things. Like, she's this subdued introvert, no meowing during her attacks or curling up in boxes like Kirara. She's just a person.... Who's also a cat.

I like her character design better than Lyney's; the blue just stands out a lot more than his red does, and the big bow is a better centerpiece to her design than Lyney's hat is to his. Plus, her animations are also nice.

We're getting her for free so I likely won't pull, but I am already preparing artifacts to build her on my account.

Have I said how much I like sibling dynamics? These three actually seem pretty close and like they will gasp interact with each other! In comparison to the likes of the Kamisatos, this is miraculous.

I know several people who love this guy, and I do think he looks good. I saw some complaints about his hair cut (I think it's adorable), and the chunky boots & coat really serve to emphasise his awkwardness without sacrificing aesthetics.

Unfortunately, he's a physical claymore character, so it's a big skip from me.

Focalors/Furina

Well she's a brat huh. I worry after Raiden that they'll destroy Furina's character arc in order to make her more palatable, but I want her to go full Marie Antoinette. All the lore with the Oceanids disliking her and the general stuff about using the court for entertainment make me very interested in her.

As a design, I just dislike the twin tails. I love the blazer and the huge gem and the hat that's actually a crown!! Like, Furina is extravagant and over the top, obviously self obsessed - she looks perfect in that regard.

Since she's the archon and she's Hydro, she'll probably be broken meta wise. I'll likely pull, but mostly to make cool teams with her, not because she's a fave of mine specifically.

Neuvilette

... Father?

FR though, I understand why several people are crazy about this man. I do wish he looked a bit older since that's sort of where his characterisation is - he's done with Furina's shit and he's doing all the actual work of running Fontaine. With the elf ears, I expect him to be some sort of long-life species - he has no visible Vision and his hair kind of looks oceanid-like, so I figure he's not actually human. That along with the slits in his eyes. I hope he turns out to be older than Furina, and that he has a kind of reluctant dad & spoiled daughter relationship with her; we do see him tell her off in the teaser.

Neuvilette is the most feminine tall man character and the hair is a great aspect of the design. The colour palette is good and I do like the robes since he's a Judge, however I think it might get a bit boring to look at when you're playing as him - which is probably why the hair is so dramatic, in order to bring interest to the design.

He'll probably be Hydro and he'll probably be a catalyst based on that outfit (it's not exactly maneuverable enough for anything else ':))). I am interested in pulling almost a 100%.

Wriothesley

Another man???

I don't understand people talking about the lack of husbandoes in Fontaine, like look at these fine gentlemen.

We don't have much official info on Wriothesley so I'm gonna dip a little into leaks here, skip if you don't wanna know. He is some sort of prison warden which I bop with - it's an expected expansion on the justice landscape of Fontaine. He's on the rough side of the Fontaine infrastructure, in comparison to most of the other characters. That interests me since it feeds more into the duality themes of Fontaine, though currently we're unevenly biased rn to the more santized characters.

Design wise he's one of my favourites. White/black/red looks so good, as does his kind of punk esque chains. The tie puts me off somewhat, like he looks sort of smart and put together, but then the rest of the design undercuts that.

Leaks say Wriothesley is a physical standard banner five star. This fills me with fear. I also don't know what his actual personality will be, so let's say I'm undecided on pulling him.

Charlotte

I liked her personality and en VA in that one TCG event, unfortunately much like that event, Charlotte looks boring. She's cute, whatever, but she doesn't seem particularly story relevant and her design hasn't captured me.

I'm just not that interested.

Sigewinne(?)

Okay, she's cuter than Charlotte she's a sea slug person so immediately more interesting. She was also hanging out with Wriothesley, which is so adorable considering how different they seem.

We're dipping back into leaks here, but it seems like she might be another Hydro healer. I've seen people annoyed by this, but I'm perfectly fine with it - I don't have Kokomi and I like Nilou bloom as much as the next person.

If Sigewinne is a four star, I hope she's on a banner for a cool five star.

Navia

I know a lot of people like this woman. Taylor Swift etc (I am not overly into Taylor Swift), but I think Navia could be cool.

I find her design overcrowded. I do think this suits the fact that we're playing with French Revolution ideas and she's part of the bourgeoisie, so ofc she's overdecorated and elaborate in her fashion. Even though it makes sense, I still don't like the arsthetic of it.

On the other hand, I do like the yellow - it's not a colour we see in too many Genshin designs. I don't really like how it fits with the blue jewellery though.

Personality wise, I worry a bit that she's gonna be our waifu bait, but they did Dehya's characterisation really well without falling into that trap. Navia could be very fun and I think there's a lot of promise in the idea that she might be a class traitor, teaming up with us against the Fontaine government (wow Genshin loves a corrupt government huh).

Will I pull? She's a geo claymore user and my triple crowned Itto is already collecting dust. That's a no from me.

Clorinde

I've seen so many people mad at Clorinde when I think she looks great. Her outfit is simpler than is typical for Genshin, but that's cos she's a no-nonsense fighter type! Like how we saw with Lyney, more muted designs often mean more dramatic animations, and we already saw Clorinde doing some dynamic fight stuff in the trailer.

She really interests me in that she's a champion duellist, strong enough that even Childe wants to fight her. We see Clorinde works directly beside Neuvilette in the trailer, so she must be high up in position. A gun and a sword? She's trying to kill Navia, but the Devs describe their relationship as "complicated"??

Clorinde is an Electro woman and these are always queer fyi.

I hope she's pretty straight laced, but not quite in the Sara way. She's boring tbh, mostly because she is always answering to someone else, and she gets so little screen time. For Clorinde to work, I think she needs to have independence and apt presence in the story to be explored - not just a prop/obstacle.

Her personality makes me fearful, but rn I'm pulling 100%.

Hey not the same anon but I saw the Cliff HCS and was curious if you had any more thoughts on the possible little sibling for cove you mentioned in the first ones. I’d imagine it would definitely be an unplanned ordeal with how I see Cliff at least(obviously okay if you see differently! But the guy just had his own little guy grow up and leave the nest so I can’t see baby 2: electric bungaloo being planned) but I just have this image in my head of both Cliff and (his ofc)MC freaking out because they think MC is dying, rushing to the hospital and getting back a “not dying, just pregnant” and both of them going “oh. -- But a surprise pregnancy is always fun (in fiction lol, be safe out there)! Once he figured out where you were with it, he would also be on cloud nine, pleased as punch, so on and so forth. Because sure, it is a little wild to raise a whole entire person from the time they are born until the time they are an adult then turn around and repeat the process entirely like that, but he's more than up for it.

-- He knows the baby is going to be their own person, and he'd never try to use them as some sort of redemption for himself. But he is still determined to not repeat his old mistakes. He will communicate with you about everything, you will make every important decision together, a team 100%.

-- Cliff is an absolute dreamboat and it's a shame that we don't talk about it more. We're a small enough fandom that we could be having regular meetings to address issues like this.

But when he meets the baby for the first time, maybe they have a feature or two of his, some kind of familial resemblance, and THAT'S HIS LITTLE BROTHER/SISTER. He's a big brother. Thoughts racing, tears flowing, utter joy unlocked.

-- He is going to be the best big brother the world has ever seen, he is determined. He asks Derek for advice. He researches how to take care of babies. He wants to babysit! So many presents for the baby. So many plans made for every stage of baby's life. Cove is talking to his MC about them renewing their wedding vows one day and if he should ask Cliff to be his best man again or ask the new baby, and MC is like "........"

-- Kyra is involved, that's her baby's baby sibling and she is so happy for Cliff she can't stand it. You have to be cool with Kyra to be with Cliff too, that's a rule, but it's not like it'll be hard.

-- I said this in another one, but it's going to be really important for Cliff to keep the house in Sunset Bird if at all possible. That's where Cove did most of his growing up, and he knows it would be hard on him to lose it. Cove would be totally fine with giving up his old room that he's not ever going to use again for his new baby sibling.

-- Living by the beach, his best friends across the street, his oldest child living nearby and his baby safe in his arms, and you, the love of his life, by his side through all of it. What a life Cliff has.

You’ve gotten into Norway and Sweden’s friendship but are they the kind of friends that would do crazy stuff together or are they more mellow?

A lot of people have asked me to tell more about Norway's and Sweden's relationship, so it's time to talk about it. If Sweden and Denmark are brothers in every negative sense of the word, then Sweden and Norway are like stereotypical sisters. They wouldn't stop nagging and driving each other mad throughout the day, but they would still gossip the whole night and braid each other's hair, ultimately falling asleep in the same bed. I do think that Sweden and Norway are by far the closest of the Nordics, and they rely on each other heavily. Unfortunately, we have nothing to go off of because they have practically zero interactions in the canon, which is crazy to me! But that also means we are free to depict their relationship however we want.

I always imagined that Sweden and Norway grew relatively close to one another and they would interact a lot, even as children. I also view them as similar in age, to the point I have a hard time deciding which one should be older. So it's easier to say they're around the same age. They would interact rather often, sometimes bonding and sometimes squabbling. They just got accustomed to each other's company and thus grew a lot closer. Also, they were just as competitive as they are nowadays. It's definitely a trait they developed during their childhood. They both worked with limited resources for most of their life anyway, so competition was sometimes necessary. And maybe it was a trait that was taught to them. If they both want something, they'll have to fight for it. When they were children, they'd let Denmark be the supposed "head" of the household. Meanwhile, Sweden and Norway went out and brought their share to the table, which they often made into a contest.

Sweden and Norway are each other's best friends, but that also involves a lot of banter and being excessively concerned with beating the other in all kinds of competitions. Whatever the subject, the time, and place, they will make it a matter of life and death. Boardgame nights will always come down to Sweden and Norway fighting over the properties in Monopoly. A beach day that was supposed to be calm and relaxing turns into a competition for which one can swim furthest away. And winter ski trips will always become a speed competition. They will always compare everything between themselves - who has a better car, a greener yard, and more birthday wishes on social media. They don't get tired of comparisons, but everyone else certainly does.

The core aspect of their dynamic is the love-hate relationship. They love to annoy the hell out of each other, söta bror, their sweet brother. But if the other gets bullied, the other would stand up immediately and come to their rescue because no one is allowed to bully their brother - except they themselves, of course.

In sisterly fashion, they like gossiping and sharing rumors they've heard about others. But more than anything, they judge one another. Especially the other's clothing choices seem to provoke a reaction out of them. They'll ask if the other is seriously going to leave the house wearing that but quickly back down and sarcastically say it looks great. But Sweden and Norway, likewise, mock each other for being supposed copycats - constantly blaming the other for mimicking their style or stealing their stuff. Because what is worse than being compared to your sibling all the time? People keep telling them that they kind of look alike, but they definitely don't see it. Sweden and Norway will get very defensive and explain how they're completely different, actually.

But it's just squabbling, not as mean-intentioned as it might seem to an outsider. It's their weird love language. They can mock each other without worrying they'll take it too seriously. Truthfully, they would do anything for the other if needed. Because while they will complain about the other's incompetence and lack of brains, they will still support them without question. They just can't bring themselves to admit that they actually care; it's too corny and not their style at all. If the other calls and asks for help, they would instantly come, but not before joking about how they need a "real Scandinavian" to help them out. And by the end of the day, they sit down for drinks and chat.

One thing they can agree on, however, is the fact that Denmark needs to know his place. They will join forces to tease him. Denmark is used to it and thinks it's just jealousy from his younger siblings. Denmark also tends to play favorites, clearly being gentler and admirable toward Norway, thinking his best friend can do no wrong - while in the same breath dooming Sweden to the deepest part of hell.

While Norway usually finds himself as the voice of reason with Denmark and the one to keep an eye on him, with Sweden, he can just be unapologetically bothersome. He will come in in his muddy hiking clothes, open a bag of chips, and hoard Sweden's couch. And Norway spends a lot of time in Sweden's place. Partly for work-related reasons but also when he just doesn't wanna sit alone in his own house. Iceland and Finland are too far away, and Denmark is always going and doing something else. For Sweden, It's not unheard of for Norway to just come over without warning. He'll stay for a while, doing whatever he does, and leave just as mysteriously as he appeared (with his backpack full of food from the fridge and pantry, which he just refers to as harrytur).

They have been in various unions throughout history, though rarely by their own choice. These unions have definitely left a mark, and there are times when their relationship has been seriously tested. Norway and Sweden need their own spaces, or they will tear each other's heads off. They can tolerate each others' flaws for a while, but at the end of the day, it's good there are at least a few mountains between them.

Sweden can come off as nitpicky or even snobbish, which drives Norway mad. In Norway's eyes, Sweden is too much of a perfectionist. No matter what, they always had to keep up a perfect image, even during the most turbulent times in their unions. Sweden's way of solving issues was to not talk about it and sweep everything under the rug. Also, in their unions, Swe had been the one with the most control and freedom, and the decisions he had made for them seemed like blatant selfishness to Norway. Norway was always expected to do his part, but he never earned the same amount of respect. Even nowadays, Sweden has a tendency to stick his nose into other people's business and even start arranging or solving issues for them. It's no surprise this keeps irritating Norway. Sweden may scold Norway for how he treats his little brother, but Norway snaps at him and says it's none of his business.

On the other hand, Norway's free spirit and negligence drive Sweden mad. Norway has a strong will, which makes him kind of hard to cooperate with, especially once he has set his mind on something. He's very opinionated, but instead of expressing them out loud, he builds up these frustrations, which makes him act inconsiderately and spitefully when things don't go his way. Norway's antisocial behavior and dry output can also make Sweden frustrated and even embarrassed around others. Especially since he himself is so non-confrontational, trying his best to please everyone.

There's also an element of jealousy, maybe not as severe as Denmark and Sweden have with each other, but it's still there. Historically, Sweden was the more prosperous, influential brother Norway had to listen to. But nowadays, the dynamic has turned around, and Sweden can't help but feel a bit jealous. Still, while they like bragging about their successes and superiority, they wouldn't want to humiliate the other. Because what's the fun of competing if you don't have equal chances?

But these unions, even with all their lows, have created a weird dependence between the two. Norway and Sweden get each other; they can understand what they're both going through - even if they despise each other at the moment, which Denmark and Finland fail to do. They're really the only ones who can comfort the other and deal with them even at their lowest. After all, they're both stoic and shy men who have difficulty processing their emotions. Sometimes they wonder how the other deals with their bullshit, but they're brothers at the end of the day; what wouldn't they do for them.

Their interests and hobbies are identical, so it's no wonder that they spend so much of their free time together. Norway and Sweden don't do well in big crowds or gatherings, especially if it's with half-strangers. They highly appreciate the casual and calm atmosphere they have when they hang out. They can sit in silence, doing something mundane, and it's enough for them. However, when one gets bored, they start teasing the other until they're ready to throw hands.

Norway is a natural explorer, and no one really knows what's up with him. Sometimes, he can be the type of friend who just doesn't tell what he has been up to lately. Then he posts a random photo in the group chat, being on the other side of the world. Sweden, however, has calmed down a lot from his youth. He has really adopted the old-man character and lives a relatively calm and ordinary life. Norway isn't too far off himself, but he still tries to desperately bring some sense of adventure to his brother. One way they can do that is by heading out to nature, as they're both notorious for their love for the outdoors. Hiking, skiing, kayaking, practically anything goes. They just pack the car and head out to nature. The reason why Sweden and Norway prefer to do these activities in each other's company is that at least they'll get true peace and quiet. They can communicate almost telepathically; there's no useless talking and chit-chatting in the middle of nowhere. And they can even split paths and explore stuff at their own pace. With Denmark or Finland, this isn't always guaranteed. And both Sweden and Norway are always down to head outdoors, even with short notice. But most importantly, a weekend hiking trip isn't completed unless they end up fighting about who came up with the concept of "friluftsliv", the value of spending time in nature - or arguing over whose place has better hiking trails.

Thinking about Dungeon Meshi, Mob Psycho 100, and Autism coding.

Light spoilers for Dungeon Meshi, but nothing too crazy or in-depth.

Disclaimer: I have never been diagnosed with autism and I while I don’t personally believe I have it, I’ve found that a lot of my own neurodivergent traits – both from having ADHD and from being socially isolated for a solid chunk of my formative years – overlap with autistic people. I’m not claiming to be an expert on the subject or anything, so if I make a mistake, please let me know.

Been keeping up with the Dungeon Meshi anime after having binged most of the manga around this time last year and then following along till the end. I personally had a great time with it, and while the ending felt a little rushed, it was otherwise satisfying. I think its really cool that the Touden siblings (and especially Laios) are so heavily autistic coded, yeah?

Dunmeshi is in a similar camp as Mob Psycho 100 in the camp of being really good anime/manga with main characters who are all but outright stated to be autistic, and their autistic character traits being significant enough to meaningfully impact the course of their stories, you know? There’s actually a lot of similarities between the sibling dynamics of Mob/Ritsu and Laios/Falin (platonically, obvs) now that I think about it. Both stories are centered around the socially inept older sibling, and while the stories differ in the details, their bond is strong, but complex and nuanced.

(I love you Edward and Alphonse Elric my beautiful perfect baby boys, but peak aughts shonen is still aughts shonen, and best leaving most of its character and relationship exploration to extrapolation amongst gays on the internet a decade later.)

If we want to go even deeper, we can talk about how one of the siblings has been supernaturally gifted from a young age, the ways in which that might alter the course of their lives and relationships, how that intersects with their autistic traits, and the back and forth action-reaction-etc. that would happen as these characters interact with each other and the world around them. Again, the details differ, because they are, at the end of the day, very different stories. Mob and Ritsu’s dynamic is shaped by the inherent volatility of adolesence, while Laios and Falin are young adults, both fully capable of living independently, but who choose to stay by each other’s side anyway.

What's your opinion on this take? These people really think Azula sacrificed everything for Zuko and loved him so much.

Once again, these people have no idea what they are talking about and the ideas they are putting out about abuse are extremely dangerous. I don't give a shit whether Azula "loved" Zuko. Plenty of abusers love their victims. It doesn't change a damn thing. All it does is make it that much harder for abuse to be recognized when people put out nonsense about how the abuser actually loves them so much and if they were REALLY abusive, the victim would be crying (false, we know that people have all sorts of reactions to abuse and we also know that abusers will use the victim's reaction to blame them for the abuse), and if they were REALLY abused, it would actually be much worse.

The idea that Azula was "chill" with Zuko at the beginning of book three is not only false (I don't think there's a single conversation they have where she isn't belittling him), but this claim also misses the reason she appears chill: namely that she has him under control and knows that he can't do anything about it, because she has Ozai on her side against him. You can't recognize Ozai's abuse but then deny Azula's part in that dynamic. If you recognize that Ozai is abusive, and the specific way in which Ozai is abusive, and that Azula is his golden child and Zuko his scapegoat, you can't then say that Azula casually belittling her brother in the same ways that Ozai does to him and blackmailing him with knowledge that would get him in trouble with their father is just normal sibling behavior and not a problem. It's not normal, and we see that it's not. Zuko might not be crying but he literally tells Iroh that he feels like he's going crazy because he knows the Avatar is alive, after Azula has made it clear to him that she knows what he suspects but also that he has "no reason" to suspect it. This is obvious gaslighting and Zuko shows the exact signs of being gaslit. Zuko also shows anger, depression, and self blame, and not all of it is because of making the wrong decision in the catacombs. Especially since that decisions was also heavily influenced by Azula, who also told him that he had no reason to be nervous about going home to his abusive father, when she knows very well what the reason is. Of course she's "chill." She has the power and she knows it. That's also why she's abusive and what elevates her constant insults towards him from normal sibling antagonism to an abusive relationship.

Also the claim that he "hates her out of envy" using what he says at the North Pole is ridiculous when he literally says he doesn't need and want her luck. How can he be envious of something he says he doesn't need or want?

But even if he was...the idea that she's not abusive because he doesn't talk about how cruel she was towards him is also a complete misunderstanding of how abuse works. Especially since this is a book one quote. Zuko also never talks in book one about how cruel Ozai is towards him, because he's heavily in denial about the abuse and believes the lie Ozai made him believe about how the abuse was normal. Believing that Azula was just born lucky and he's doomed to struggle because she's just naturally better than him is also part of that lie. Zuko believes these things because of the abuse, not in spite of it.

It takes Zuko a long time to admit, and even longer to say out loud, that his father was cruel to him. Similarly, I think the statement he makes about his relationship with Azula that is the most true is what he says to her during the agni kai, after he's grown and realized that he doesn't have to put up with abuse.

Azula: I'm sorry it has to end this way, brother. Zuko: No, you're not.

Because Zuko recognizes now that Azula isn't sorry, that the way she treated him was wrong, that she's not inherently better, that it wasn't luck or destiny that made his family treat him that way, and he can now see straight through her lies. Especially since she said a moment before that it was the showdown that was meant to be. This is the ending she chose and the ending she wanted, but she tries one last time to blame Zuko for her desire to hurt him. Only this time it doesn't work.

Using Zuko looking pleased when Iroh says lightning redirection is "even something Azula doesn't know" as proof that Zuko just hates Azula for being better than him MIGHT sound smart if you take out the context that the reason Zuko is learning this is because he needs to protect himself against Azula, who tried to kill him with lightning in their last encounter (and it won't be the last time). This isn't him being envious or hateful, it's him not wanting to be murdered.

And characterizing Ozai's abuse as pitting Azula and Zuko against each other and saying Zuko was just bitter that he could never get the best of Azula is just...grossly incorrect, and, again, a failure to understand how Ozai's abuse actually happened. Ozai did not pit them against each other. Why would he, when he wants Zuko to be his scapegoat? What he did was encourage Azula to treat Zuko the same way he did and discouraged it any time Zuko attempted to prove his own worth. Framing that as Zuko just being bitter that he couldn't beat her is disgusting. It's a total misunderstanding of how golden child/scapegoat dynamics work. Ozai was never going to give Zuko the chance to beat Azula. We see that in how Ozai frowns when Zuko attempts, not even to compete with Azula, but to show that he can be just as good. We see that in how Azula taunts him by saying he "will never catch up." We see that in Ozai screaming at Zuko for correcting Azula but praising Azula for contradicting her firebending teacher. Ozai did not make them rivals and to pretend that Zuko is just bitter that he wasn't as good isn't just excusing Azula's abusiveness, it's excusing Ozai's too.

Azula also isn't just unapologetic about being better. I shouldn't have to screenshot every interaction between them, but I will if that's what it takes to get this nonsense to stop. Because telling him that their father would never want him back except to lock him up - after she made him believe that their father wanted him back - is going well above and beyond rubbing her superiority in his face. It's a horrifically cruel thing to say, and Azula knows it is, which is why she says it. And it's far from the only or first time she's said things like this to him.

They would try to convince him to do stuff with a girl(probably Akita but it doesn’t really matter), and when he refuses they spread a rumor that he said no because he’s gay. Cue Rumi using an uno reverse card in Our Love is God(idk maybe a mention about how they both are queer but the world doesn’t love them for who they are and people saying stuff like that are the problem?)

Dead Gay Son could go whatever way you want, but I would probably have it be about scruffshipping(Dareth/Ronin) because I hc Ronin as becoming Nya’s functional uncle post season 5

The dead trio would have a lot more dynamics with each other, considering there’s a pair of best friends, a couple(?), and a pair of siblings(something something Kai and Nya could have been the older siblings Lloyd never had something something)

I definitely could see Dareth leading shine a light. Seems like a very in-character thing for him to do.

Give me Jay having a breakdown over how he rides the bus because all his rides to school are dead. Give me Jay singing lifeboat. Give me Lloyd stopping Jay from doing that one thing in the bathroom. I need it. I NEED it.

The kindergarten boyfriend was Lloyd. He didn’t die, but he has so strongly left Brad behind that in his eyes he might as well have. This also makes the line “I’m so sorry” sooo much worse

Is 90% of this au just for the last 5 songs? Absolutely. They just fit the Llorumi dynamic. Like Lloyd realizes that she is crazy and her being stopped is far more than their relationship being saved. Does Lloyd wish they could have work out? Yes. Does he still try to save her until the very last second? Yes. Is there remorse from both parties? Yes. But in the end she's “beaten fair and square” and dies, and there isn’t a shoved in rushed redemption arc I’m looking at you Crystalized you butchered my girl.

What is your thought about the Hive gods as Guardians discussion? (this is a long anon ask sorry!) I find it funny that we're all in agreement Xivu would be a Titan, but Oryx and Savathun remain a scuffle.

Personally, I think it's Oryx=warlock and Sav=hunter because (I'll try to keep it short haha)

Despite people putting Hunter for Oryx because of his Navigator/exploring urges, I often think about how he "dove to understand", and his nature is very warlocky with his fineass wormsilk robes. He really embodies that scholar commitment for me

Sav gets put as a Warlock because of her "witch queen" title and beef with Ikora and mindgames, but I would like to point out that her character is severely coded in being free and Hunters are often downolayed in their intelligence because of stereotypes but they are cunning. They represent bending the playing field to their tricks and voracity, plus the og beef relationship is Sav vs Eris, which I always read like a dynamic hunter/prey game with them. Also Eris + Sav shipping gang anywhere?

This topic is like a Pandoras box and people get really heated on it so I hope I don't come across as rude or anything! I just really love hearing the takes on this because wow this community can sometimes be crazy observant and thorough. Have a great one!!

We can agree Xivu is titan-coded for her tactical prowess and martial might, but Oryx and Savathun are less clear. Nevertheless, we've reached the same conclusion.

Oryx is, to me, unambiguously warlock-coded: his studies of the Darkness, his communion with the Deep, introspection and curiosity all read as remarkably warlock-like, though I can understand why the "navigation" aspect would throw people for a loop when doing these kinds of analyses.

I think there's a better case to be made for "warlock Savathun" than "hunter Oryx". Still, I think she's strongly hunter-coded: in addition to the points you brought up, her disguises/camouflaging and disappearing to pursue goals separate to those of her siblings. If Oryx sought to understand, Savathun sought to sow misunderstanding and that feels incredibly hunterish to me.

Of course, this is complicated by Savathun being a lightbearer now: 2/3 of her common attacks are warlock supers, and 1/3 of them are hunter supers. There's also the secret fourth ward of dawn during her WQ campaign boss fight. (And even that I'm not sure is hers or a result of the ritual her wizards are casting.)

Mechanically, I'm inclined to think of her as a hunter-warlock melange, but spiritually she still feels very hunter. She acts a lot like she did in her pre-guardian life, even without the pressure from her worm to deceive.

oh man yes ABSOLUTELY. before i go on though a few Disclaimers. some of these have been alluded to in asks before so there might be a bit of repetition in that regard. and also some will be theory related and moreso going off the assumption that certain extra material is not necessarily Canon in game. also i go into more Individual headcanons later in the post. i won't go into EVERYTHING but this gets long regardless. headcanons below the cut!

i've probably brought this up at least 3 other times but it drives me a little crazy that in the concept art timeline, the TWINS are the ones present at the king's coronation ceremony. this pic sucks but it's the only one

this is the first thing that made me believe the twins would have sided with the king in the whole dark stone/light creature conflict

concept art says "The Twins used to lead ceremonial spectacle that honored the King's victories in the Dark Stone Era" which is self explanatory

it ALSO says "Amphitheater was original site of King's coronation" as well as stuff about being free from fire worship and using dark stone for defense.

another reason is valley itself being a city of entertainment even before we got dreams and performance. i'm not saying this was All there was to valley as it seems genuinely culturally rich, but it gives a very Bread And Circuses vibe (superficial distractions from serious problems)

not to mention valley having darkstone contraptions Everywhere.

and who better to lead this than two energetic entertaining athletes?

since they were labeled the "priestess" ancestor in concept art, i think that could very much relate back to the king coronation ceremony. i can see them holding religious ceremonies in the fire era or very important kingdom-wide events (and i'd go as far as to say the king's coronation is religious in its own way due to the godlike powers granted by darkstone)

but on a less dramatic note, i also like to imagine it meant they were in touch with the emotions of their people in valley, offering advice and listening to their troubles Like a priestess would

more personal hc stuff

of course i think there is a genuine significant degree of sibling rivalry, but i ALSO think they play it up for the entertainment aspect. everything in the public eye is a big performance to them

the Sibling Rivalry is a little more complicated than that though due to my belief that they split into two upon falling to the sky kingdom and at times have such insane synergy that you'd think they're the same person because in a way. they Are (i talked about this in an in-character ask once)

but anyway i think they are very smart and aware of how they present themselves to other people and of their influence

they know how to get people energized/riled up regardless of whether they're the ones competing or not. GREAT commentators who can project their voice and capture everyone's attention with incredible persuasion and dynamism

do i think they flirt with the crowd? yes.

due to them representing young adulthood, i think they have a lot of internal contradictions and conflicts that they have a hard time working through

they can absolutely be arrogant and Not in a fun way. they want to feel justified in their convictions especially when it comes to siding with the king so strongly. so basically they doubt themselves but if you doubt them you'll probably just piss them off

they feel their emotions strongly but also have an incredibly logical aspect to their emotions and will get irritated at themselves for "irrational" emotions

they care A Lot to the point of trying to distance and distract themselves from caring, especially when shit is going down in the dark stone era

they love the attention but very much value their time out of the spotlight and even away from each other.

i like imagining that valley has Fights For Entertainment (not like any sort of gladiator to-the-death thing). they'll fight each other once in a while for a crowd but their sparring in private is very different

i think they have petty squabbles over small things but private sparring is letting off steam and being open to genuine criticism. by which i mean they are there to stay sharp and help each other by pointing out weaknesses

there's no aspect of entertaining an audience but it still flows like a dance. it is, however, more... ruthless? no intentionally slipping up for drama or dragging things out or interacting with the crowd

the nicks/cracks in their masks are from each other. i also did an in-character ask for this (i hate how it turned out lmao) but i think the idea i prefer now is that they had an Incredibly rocky time orienting themselves as a split star and dealing with their identity. i dunno maybe they tried to kill each other at one point. just sibling things

at the end of the day they are ride or die

individual headcanons

they have similarly androgynous voices but there are some distinctions which i am Not sure how to describe. i imagine sah to have a clearer voice that sounds more playful/teasing with a bit of an Edge. for mekh i imagine a more theatrical, regal quality with maybe a sort of... smoothness to it? (this part is especially influenced by how they carry themselves in their cutscene)

sah tends to skirt around what they mean, mekh is more blunt

mekh is slightly taller. don't bring this fact up around the twins

when it comes to theatrical productions, i think it's funny to imagine sah being invested in like. the romance and comedy like Oh my god they were roommates and for mekh to be like YEAHH RIP EACH OTHER'S HEADS OFF and very into the drama

sah roasts a mean dark crab

mekh goes to the counter and says They asked for no pickles (yes i already drew this yes im saying it again)

with other elders

i will quickly reiterate and elaborate on some stuff i've stated before

daleth: noble and gentle, always seems to understand the bigger picture. the twins clashed a lot with them in the dark stone era and treated them rather flippantly, which they regret later on as daleth gave them very important guidance when they were trying to figure out their identity. daleth eventually reached a point where they felt the twins were too out of reach amidst their glory, and interactions were resigned on daleth's part and curt on the twins'

ayin: always hopeful and kind towards the twins, but ultimately they could not truly understand each other. ayin wished to be closer to them and also helped them in designing the valley's architecture. again, with how close ayin was to the light creatures, the twins became rather standoffish and especially defensive in believing dark stone was absolutely necessary to the livelihood of their realm

teth: someone they could connect with emotionally. they had a quiet understanding of each other's feelings of self-contradiction, and teth was not one to demand conversation or vulnerability. teth was, however, someone who would not back down from an argument, so they were more prone to Heated Verbal Disagreements even if they were relatively friendlier. neither are sure they can trust the other's impulses

tsadi: trained with the twins and became protective over them at some point, maintaining a friendly and mutual relationship a decent way into the dark stone era. both feel a great deal of loyalty towards the king, believing themselves to be standing for the good of the ancestors. things eventually sour between them as conditions in now-wasteland degrade, but tsadi blames themself far more for everything that happened than literally any of the elders

lamed: very mixed feelings. lamed recognizes their sheer influence and skill but still finds them to be too impulsive. the twins really are not that shallow or oblivious to lamed's opinions, but lamed is the Genius of geniuses and can come off as condescending or above-it-all even without intending to. stiff in the face of lamed's occasional sentimentality

Honestly, I think everyone is so invested in romantic sorts of relationships that they just ignore the interesting sorts of dynamics that a family can have.

first of all completely agree, family dynamics are entirely underrated because of the internet-wide obsession with romance. I'll do both scenario and dialogue prompts, because, eh, why not (and because I like this request a lot haha)

I'll use "X," "Y," and/or "Z" for character names if necessary, but I'll try to call them by their relationships instead (i.e. "a sibling" or "a parent")

scenario prompts:

X walking in on Y dressing in drag, and even though Y panics (because they think of this as their deep dark secret), X is super supportive and offers tips (...and probably teases them in the process)

two siblings, one super book smart, and the other is jealous of their brain because they're tired of being known as "the dumb one"

the kids realizing that their parents are going through a rough patch, and arranging a date night for them

X threatening Y to stay away from X's sibling / single parent ("if you're the one asking, then no, no they are not single")

playing Just Dance (who's good at it, who's bad, who keeps hitting other people with the remote, who acts like it's life or death, who breaks the TV, etc)

the golden child getting themself into a messy situation and having to ask for help from the troublemaker of the family

the parents / adults talking about how to help their kid when they think their kid might be having a problem that they won't tell their family about

dialogue prompts:

"get out of my room!"

"mom, X ate the last cookie!"

"don't get used to it, this won't happen again"

"we're not really friends, ok? we're siblings. there's a difference"

I really loved this post where I talked about the sibling dynamics with Malleus and Silver. Because I really do believe that Malleus was the older brother who got all the expectations on him and then as time went on, Lilia learned for the better (with the help of Malleus and the Zigvolts and some observation skills) and changed his way of teaching/parenting with Silver and Sebek. (not to say they didn't go through hell themselves because Lilia kept getting ideas from FMA)

Another reason why I have been so crazy about Diasomnia family is because I have been seeing this weird view??? Where people are stating that Malleus is not seen as Lilia's son and only Silver is????

Which I don't agree with at all. Both Silver and Malleus is precious to Lilia and vice versa so I don't see why I have been seeing they weird view of it.

I talked to a few friends about it and I think it mostly stems from people hating that Malleus OB'd and put everyone to sleep. Which is always a pattern I always see before they find out the backstory and then accept the character. (Also, there are some malleus haters out there and will say anything to make him look bad but I digress)

I really see no reason for there to be competition between Malleus and Silver in loving Lilia and he them.

As mentioned by @/curuxavermella in the same post I linked above

These are more instances that you can see Lilia care and love him.

It is also shown how Malleus also commented on them having to help Lilia parent Silver.

Hence, the whole Older sibling helping raise the younger siblings and how parents change in teaching style as they grow and learn.

I know people also like to mention how Lilia could be more of an uncle since Lilia grew up with Malenoa.

Which, while that may be the case, I dont think it describes enough the deep bond the three share. Uncles can also be seen as a father figure, you know?

Sleeping Beauty is about true love, and with the live action movie, it is about parental/platonic love too.

Then there's the fact that true love is needed to hatch the egg and Lilia might have been the one to give it the magic and love it needed to do so.

I really want to see this platonic love between all four.

We have seen it between Malleus and Silver, Silver and Sebek, Silver and Lilia, Sebek and Malleus, Malleus and Silver, and Malleus and Lilia.

I want it to be more expressed on Lilia's end. I want them to all hug.

I want lilia to acknowledge he has two sons and those sons to acknowledge their father figure openly.

I want Lilia to yell at them both about how much he loves them.

OH and can we talk about SEBEK????

THIS PRECIOUS CHILD who realizes that he has everything he could wish for and his dream was for others to be happy? For his childhood friend to be happy????

They go on many grand adventures…that always go wrong one way or another.

Xiao, at one point, contemplates creating an adepti good luck charm for Benny because Archons is the kid unlucky.

Do you know how many times he or Kazuha saved the kid from an unintentional demise? Too damn many.

Like Xiao is concerned for his well-being at this point.

How the hell does this kid function????

To be brutally honest, Xiao joined them not only to ensure the Walking Disaster’s safety, but to figure out how *vaguely gestures to Benny* he works.

I like to imagine Xiao as the tired babysitter from The Incredibles and Benny as Jack-Jack

He doesn't think the charm would help, but he makes one out of some leaves and twigs anyway and gives it to Benny.

Benny is so touched??? Xiao made him a good luck charm, but not just any! An adeptus good luck charm, so maybe it’ll help ward off the worst of it.

It uh…..certainly wards off like the minor bad luck like he doesn’t burn his food or stub his toe as much.

Kazuha? He’s just enjoying the chaos.

I like to think Kazuha joined Benny because it seemed like a nice change of pace and puts his observation skills to the test

Sadly, the wind can’t warn him fast enough on most days

He’s very observant (apart from the wind thing lmao) so he’s the first one to notice if something is bothering Xiao or if Benny is hiding how he’s feeling

Or if someone hides their wounds. 

Interpret that as you will. I like to think Xiao or Benny would. 

Xiao, to appear tough and because he’s used to working alone ever since his siblings passed. Benny because he wants to make sure the others are okay first, and maybe he feels bad about his luck rubbing off on them and doesn’t want to bother them more than he already has.

The Wind Thing™ is amazing to Benny and he’s in awe of Kazuha’s attunement to nature and the general awareness he has for their surroundings.

It kind of freaks Xiao out just a little.

A *tiny* bit. It’s just enough that when Kazuha first mentions that the wind told him something Xiao is giving him slight side-eye and a thought of Oh no he’s crazy flits across the back of his mind… until they investigate and find that Kazuha was right.

Xiao himself has really really good intuition from years of fighting, but nothing quite like the wind telling him something. 

If it works, it works, so long as Kazuha isn’t bothered by it, he supposes. (Part of Xiao wonders if it was an evil demon or spirit… he definitely Did Not spend a week or two trying to make sure Kazuha’s wind thing wasn’t something he should conquer or banish or get that kid with the high yang energy…. Chongyun, to exorcise)

His extremely calm demeanor is slightly off-putting to Xiao

Despite that, Xiao notices when Kazuha starts to slow down in a fight or when cracks start to show in his calm facade (more on this *later*)

I like to think Kazuha reacts more internally than he does outwardly.

Like Kazuha does show emotion, but is more low key about it.

*The stove explodes and Benny just laughs. He’s covered in soot and his clothes are singed, but he smiles and tells them he accidentally got the lizard powder he has on him too close to the fire* “Ah I should have been more careful, I must have forgotten to take this out of my pocket when I was with Klee and Albedo a few weeks ago…”

Kazuha: *staring wide eyed with a strained smile* I… see, it’s lucky we weren’t too close then. *pats Benny’s back and helps clean up the camp*

Kazuha internally: What the fuck was that? Holy shit, I thought we were going to die… I might actually die if I keep traveling with him holy shit. How is he still alive????? How am I alive???? 

((Xiao stopped being surprised at the unlucky after traveling with Benny for a week))

I also like to think that Kazuha and Xiao will look at eachother like they’re in The Office once they’re used to Benny’s luck

*Benny burns the food once again* “Aw, man, I left it on too long!” *Kazuha looks over to Xiao, who had just gotten back from collecting firewood, like can you believe this kid? And Xiao just shrugs*

How does Kazuha say the most profound shit casually like it’s any other Tuesday??? Xiao is somewhat convinced Kazuha either had 1. Something traumatic happen to him or 2. Was definitely a priest or something at some point. 

While Benny is like 75% sure Kazuha is some kind of poet that writes under a pen name. 

He totally tries to discreetly figure out what Kazuha’s author name is lol and when he outright asks and Kazuha denies being an author all Benny can think is: “I see, he’s a private person and doesn’t want his identity to come out.”

*proceeds to try to “protect” Kazuha’s different identities anytime he thinks they’re getting exposed* 

It goes on like this until they learn about Kazuha’s backstory (more on this *later*)

Xiao is like 90% sure Kazuha is high in one way or another half the time, and honestly? He'd join him if he didn't have to be the fucking sane one in the group.

He’s just so happy to have travel companions tbh.

Though, his travel companions are a bit strange, but, hey, his dads at the guild taught him not to judge a book by its cover and it turned out Xiao and Kazuha are pretty cool!

Benny is the mastermind behind their expeditions and adventures, be it commissions that he gets through the guild or a rumor he’s heard in Liyue Harbor.
