I am so tired of Ahsoka!

She wasn't needed and now she is literally everywhere. I go on on any social media and serach for Prequel Trilogy stuff and I can't go 1 minute without seeing something about her, when she wasn't even in the films. I honestly am so mad that I wasn't part of the fandom before Ahsoka was created because she kinda becomes "the most important person for Anakin (fuck you Obi-Wan and Padme)".

It's a bit sad since she could have been a cool character. Just make her master someone else and don't make her the most special and powerful Jedi. And if they wanted to make her a padawan of a "special" master than maybe introduce a new Jedi who idk maybe left the Jedi Order long ago and now they return because of the Clone Wars. This would mean that: a) Ahsoka still has a "special" master b) because she is trained by a master who only recently returned to the order she has training different than any other padawan c)due to her master she has controversial opinions on some Jedi customs. This could be a good point of conflict for her character (do I listen to my master or the Order) and also doesn't make unnecessary changes in the story of film characters (Anakin, Padme, Obi-Wan and others).

Honestly, I think that when you do a serial for a beloved film you should ensure that the characters you fit with what the films tell us. The Jedi Council didn't want to make Anakin a master, so why would they give him a padawan. As ignorant as they could sometimes be, I think that connecting "Anakin is not mature enough to be master" with "Anakin is not mature enough to have a padawan". It's really something I think they would notice.

She is COMPLETELY unnecessary to Anakin's story and always was. Every story beat she supposedly fulfills is already fulfilled by another character. I kinda wonder if it was an attempt at whitewashing Anakin's character (Lucas was involved in TCW and apparently wanting Anakin to be more appealing from what I heard, and this was back when the prequels and Hayden were NOT as loved as they were now because my generation wasn't as huge a fandom voice as the old OT-loving guard) and making him more appealing but no. Anakin is a human garbage can and that's what makes him such a compelling and interesting character!!!

I honestly would probably be a huge Ahsoka stan if TCW was envisioned as its own thing and focused on her as a character on her own instead of making her Anakin's Most Specialest Beloved Padawan Who Is Best At Everything (She Can Even Fight Grievous omg!!!). Back then we were so starved for female characters, we had Leia and some Padme mainstream but that was it (you only knew about Mara Jade in Legends and she wasn't in the mainstream merch or anything from what I recall), and much as I love a good dies-of-sadness joke, Padme is often simplified to that and shoved aside even though she's a really cool and complicated character in her own right. I will give Ahsoka credit for blazing the way for female characters to be more included in Star Wars, but it falls flat when she's just propped up as Coolest Wisest Bestest Jedi-but-not-a-Jedi-actually-she's-better-than-the-Order Girlboss. Now we're back to Only One Female Character Above All Others. (Rey and Rose were ruined with bad writing, Hera and Sabine are wonderful but definitely not mainstream (and probably being butchered in the show), Gina Carano ruined our chances of any more Cara content, Peli was just a cameo last season, and Bo-Karen also got the Always Right Beloved TCW Girlboss Treatment.)

Imo the Council was pretty much always on the money with Anakin (at least with what they knew of him - they didn't know of the Tusken murder spree for example) and there's no way Anakin was ever ready for a Padawan or that anyone in their right mind would give him one. In MY episode III fanfiction when Favored Main Character Got A Padawan, Obi-Wan got the Padawan because he had more experience teaching, even at 12 I knew Anakin had no business teaching anyone. Also, it was NEVER previously canon that Padawans were assigned. Masters chose them as in the Jedi Apprentice series. I will NEVER let that go. Ahsoka being assigned to Anakin was so contrived.

Tumblr from a Twitter user perspective

as someone who had Tumblr as a major site they used for a long time and then went over to Twitter. I can say Tumblr as it is fine. Perfectly fine with it reblog chains. Its how its always been and makes it unquie.

Why did i move to Twitter? Cause when Tumblr decided to not do nsfw my original blog was restricted (still is despite my appeals) and I lost motivation to continue my blog because of it.

I regret joining Twitter. I really do. It has its moments but it is just a hot garbage pool of toxic vomit everywhere. I see it 24/7 on my tl and it's so hard to escape. Not to mention that it is IMPOSSIBLE to find art on twt or anything really at all.

Tumblr is a place where I look up what I want and I fucking find it. I love reblog chains that's like the whole way we communicate? Where the best memes come from, other ppl building ontop of another. Its a sense of community and connection i missed from this place.

Twitter is so- fucking hollow and it feels like despite having akot of followers no one is there. I'm sure other Twitter users who are cretaors could agree. Hell major artists that were in Twitter said they felt better coming back ot to Tumblr.

Yes it takes a minute to get adjusted to the site but it doesn't take that long at all. It doesn't make sense to bow to new comers cause I can assure you, if Tumblr is in the red. Twt users are not gonna save you. Absolutely not. The reason twt users are even coming here is BECAUSE of the stupid bulkshit Elon Musk keeps making over there. Making changes of the core functions of the site (take fucking notes Tumblr), breaking it and making just so anti user friendly.

Tumblr doesn't need go conform. It need to lean into it's strengths that make it different and BETTER than the other sites. It hasn't survived this long for no reason. If its struggling you need to ask your USERBASE what they think you could improve. Cause right now. This ain't it.

Looking at Disney's Star Wars Sequel Trilogy after such a long time feels bizarre.

I remember feeling so utterly insulted at the opening line of The Force Awakens. The whole "shitty prequels" push in the media. Like TFA is such a product of a 10 years long popularised over-critical outlook and all the garbage that made George Lucas sell to Disney in the first place. I mean I understand if you don't like the prequels, it's not like they are Citizen Kane. But neither was the OT...

Overall I enjoyed TFA despite JJ and Simon Pegg whose Prequel Bashing is hilarious since he's in the worst ST movie ever. Oh, he didn't like having that pointed out lmao.

Anyway, I remember feeling excited to see where the story would go now they got their nostalgia hook out of the way. The Knights of Ren were an interesting concept, the Snoke speculation was fun, BB-8 was cute, Poe was hot, Finn had a great character setup and Rey felt intriguing. And then Disney went the opposite extreme with The Last Jedi.

Or whatever the quote was, I haven't seen TFA nor TLJ since they were released to be honest, because why would I?

Like seriously, in the most generation and nostalgia driven franchise?? You want to erase the past? And so on the nose? Oh boy... TLJ is such a pretty looking movie but it felt so, so empty... It's the first movie I ever wanted to walk out off, it felt so damn long, as a woman I felt appalled by the female characters' writing and worst of all it killed my love for Star Wars for years.

Clone Wars returning? Didn't care. Mandalorian? Didn't care also Taika directing immediate pass but that's a separate issue. Bad Batch? Didn't care. Boba getting a show? Didn't care.

And The Rise of Skywalker? Still haven't watched and will never watch it.

It was so weird. First I got attacked for liking the Prequels, then you got attacked for not liking Disney's Grand Vision. And what a vision it was when they apparently couldn't even stick to it. Who would have thought you shouldn't play round robin with Star Wars?

What annoyed me most was the argument to "go watch the movie again! You will like it then! I did after watching it for the nth time!" Why would I ever spend money on something again I disliked immensely?

Do I need to go anywhere near what happened to the characters? YMMV but Poe bad needs to be taught dumb lessons by women with superiority complex, Finn and Rose comedy side quest, Rey the Mary Sue. I'm not even gonna touch what circus the First Order and Kylo became. Let alone what happened to Luke Skywalker...

I barely even remember the release of TROS. Like I saw what I thought were memes and then it turned out to be actual lines. I remember the Rey Skywalker thing coming out pretty early, and thinking what bullshit is this. Anecdotal but when I talked with my co-workers at the time and even they disliked it so much despite always defending the Sequels, it was odd.

But weirdest of all was the Prequels starting to get love. I get that my generation is like all over social media now but even those who don't like the films are kinda mellowed towards them? People started missing George for fucks sake after all the BS he got. It's so, so ironic.

Now Disney Wars is the Big Bad and on one hand its sad to see the repeat of the Prequel Bashing x100 with the Sequel Trilogy thanks to SM monetization but on the other hand my generation is finally getting our due. They gave us Hayden Christensen back proper that tells you all you need...

I personally am. It’s time for Nesta’s story (and not just hers) to be told. So, this leads to another thing I think (and hope) you’ve been waiting for.

LET’S EXPLAIN THE PLAYLIST! (Read every song’s meaning while or after reading the book) And thank you for all your love and support.

“Alone” by Melancholia: It describes the Cauldron scene at the beginning of the book. In this song you can feel the rage and how hard she’s struggling. This song is not about weakness. It’s about her strength.

“Impossible” by James Arthur: Chapter 1. Even if it’s not so clear in this chapter, I think this song represents how Cassian feels when Nesta’s around. He feels worthless and not so different from the other men she beds (as he thought in ACOFAS). He lost his hope of an happy future with the woman he loves and he feels like he’s breaking that last promise she made her. Everything just seems so impossible.

“Sister” by The Black Keys: Chapter 2. This just makes me think of Feyre and Nesta’s fight. It’s from Feyre’s pov.

“New House” by Toro y Moi: “I want a brand new house Something I can not buy, something I can afford I just want a long shower I been feeling so crowded” Chapter 3. It’s about Nesta settling down in the House of Wind. It’s not the place she feels she can call “home”. First of all, it’s not really hers. The last two sentences of this verse are about her breathing and trying to calm herself at the end of the chapter. She’s just tired.

“My Mother & I” by Lucy Dacus: Chapter 4. The whole song is about Nesta and the relationship with her mother when she was a child. I think there’s nothing else to say. Also, in the 1st Chapter it says that she’s born in spring, so the song talks about a girl who was born in May. It all fits.

“Teacher’s Pet” by Melanie Martinez”: “Teacher’s pet If I’m so special, why am I secret? Yeah, why the fuck is that? Do you regret The things we shared that I’ll never forget? Well, do you? Tell me that I know I’m young, but my mind is well beyond my years I knew this wouldn’t last, but fuck you, don’t you leave me here” Chapter 5 and 6. Nesta and Cassian’s first day of training together. She basically doesn’t want to act like she’s his pet and she’s got to do whatever he want just to respect her sister’s will.

“Dangerous Man” by Valley Of Wolves: “They say I’m a wanted man Holding line and break the fire I’m setting all the captives free But I’m hanging by a wire” Chapter 7. It’s about Eris and his double-cross. That’s how probably Cassian pictures Eris in his mind tbh.

“Control” by Halsey: Chapter 8. Nesta facing the stairs. It can be linked to other chapters too because if you take this song as a whole and not just a few verses, it really contains A LOT of things. For example, the line “The House was awake”. Also Chapter 9, when people start calling their children. You can find this moment in the song when it says “All the kids cried out ‘please stop, you’re scaring me”.

“Bookstore Girl” by Charlie Burg: Chapter 9. The bookstore girl is Gwyn and Nesta tries to know more about her.

“Wrong Direction” by Hailee Steinfeld: “I don’t hate you” Chapter 12. This song is about the chapter’s ending.

“You’ve Got a Friend In Me” by Cavetown: Chapter 13. Nesta and Gwyn’s interaction. Also, Nesta helping her.

“like that” by Bea Miller: Chapter 16. Nesta and Cassian’s tension is hilarious, but this song makes me thing about this scene so much.

“Queen” by Shawn Mendes: Chapter 17. Elain fighting with Nesta. This lyrics is so powerful. The first part is Elain talking to Nesta. The second part is Nesta talking to Elain.

“You’ll Follow Me Down” by Skunk Anansie: Chapter 17. Same scene. This is totally Nesta. She’s so scared of herself and of the world that surrounds her. She’s afraid to lose her sister in this world she still knows nothing about if not violence. She wants Elain by her side, even if it means dragging her down with her.

“Teeth” by 5 Seconds of Summer: Chapters 18/19. I like to call it “THE chapter”. Do you need me to explain why I chose this song? Um, I don’t think so. You know it.

“Only You” by Ellie Goulding: “Baby I’m on my knees” Chapter 22. He’s... returning the favor.

“Revolution” by Diplo, Faustix, Imanos, Kai: Chapter 24. Our girl Nesta knows what she’s doing. What she’s starting.

“Best Friend for Hire” by Anthony Amorim: Chapter 25. The whole song is about Nesta and Emerie’s interaction. Everytime I listen to it I can’t help but cry.

“Moment’s Silence (Common Tongue)” by Hozier: Chapter 26.  Nesta’s worried about Cassian and gives him relief.

“Rise Up” by Andra Day: Chapters 27/28. These three girls are going to rise up, bitches.

“Nina Cried Power” by Hozier, Mavie Staples: Chapter 29. This song is really powerful, just like Nesta. She always is, but in this chapter we learn HOW MUCH.

“Fix Me Now” by Garbage: “Bring me back to life (fix me now) Kiss me blind” Chapter 31. THAT scene. HE HEATED UP THE WHOLE ROOM Y’ALL. Cassian literally kissed her back to life.

“Ready or Not” by Fugees: Chapters 34/35/36. I can’t choose only one quote from this song. But can you hear its vibes? Nesta’s leading a dead army. This is THE power. 

“PILLOWTALK” by ZAYN: Chapter 37. *wink* This song says everything.

“Go Fuck Yourself” by Two Feet: Always chapter 37. I couldn’t choose just one song, you know. Also, lowkey Chapter 38.

“R U Mine?” by Arctic Monkeys: Still chapter 41. Cassian taking control of the situation. This song just screams “dominant” lmao.

“Walls Could Talk” by Halsey: So Halsey once said “The House was awake” (Control). What if those Walls Could Talk? Like, poor thing. It could have a mental breakdown. This song is dedicated to the House of Wind ‘cause it needs respect. It’s alive. Just imagine how’d you feel watching non-stop those two fucking and fighting. Also Azriel, you’re loved.

“Despicable” by grandson: “If I were you I wouldn’t love me neither” Chapter 43. Tamlin deserves a song, too.

“Part Of Me” by Katy Perry: Chapters 45/46. It’s all SO chaotic. This song means a lot of things. They all lied to her, but this song is particularly about Nesta and Amren’s fight. In my opinion, she did the right think telling Feyre the truth ‘cause she deserved to know, but it just wasn’t the right time and space.

“Don’t Give Up On Me” by Andy Grammer: Chapter 47. Cassian’s going to take care of Nesta. She made a mistake but she knows here better than anyone. He won’t give up on her.

“There You Are” by ZAYN: Chapter 50. Cassian comforts Nesta when she finally explodes. He’s there for her with open arms.

“You Found Me” by The Fray: Still Chapter 50. This chapter was so hard to read and this is another song that can describe it best.

“Locked Out Of Heaven” by Bruno Mars: Chapter 51. Illyrian bat boys just love flat objects. I see.

“Thin White Lies” by 5 Seconds of Summer: Chapter 51. Yeah, still thinking about that desk.

“Chosen Family” by Rina Sawayama: Still Chapter 51. This song is wholly dedicated to Nesta’s new found family. Not only Gwyn and Emerie, but also Cassian.

“Library Magic” by The Head And The Heart: Chapter 52. Listen to this song and read the scene at the beginning of the chapter.

“Battle Cry” by Imagine Dragons: Chapter 54. I know it’s weird but I feel this song talks about Lanthys and Nesta’s fight.

“Hurt” by Christina Aguilera: Chapter 55. Nesta takes Cassian to the place she lived with her family in the mortal lands. It’s dirty and broken now but it’s still there. Nes talks about her father and realizes how much he’s done for her and her sisters.

“Story Of Another Us” by 5 Seconds of Summer: Chapter 56. I know this sounds like a sad song but to me it represents Gwyn’s present. The story of their past (of another “them”) and also their present.

“Drama Club” by Melanie Martinez: Chapter 57. Eris vibes, y’all. I know you can feel them. Everytime I listen to this song I can’t help but thinking of him. So the only thing I can tell you is: listen carefully.

“Genius” by Sia, Diplo, Labrinth: Chapter 57. Hear this song. It just makes me think of a ballroom where two people try to talk to other people and they’re avoiding to make eye contact. And they fail (yeah, those people are Cassian and Nesta btw)

“Therefore I Am” by Billie Eilish: Chapter 57. Still about Eris, but also Cassian. They can’t stand each other. So imagine the astronomical energy (inside of this bus lmfao) when Nesta comes in between.

“All About Us” by He Is We, Owl City: Chapter 57. Nessian dancing.

“Rock Bottom” by Hailee Steinfeld ft. DNCE: Chapter 58. This song is SO accurate. This is the moment I realized “That’s it. I think I can die happy now” and then I started crying. Nesta just thinking she’s not enough and she deserves to be with someone as ugly as she thinks she is. Cassian is like “shut the hell up, woman” and yeah. That’s the kind of energy and conversation I was waiting for.

“Stop Crying Your Heart Out” by Oasis: Chapter 58. Their life becomes brighter. They have to stop crying their heart out because of their fears and the emotions they keep trying to hide. They need to feel free and express all the love they can give to each other.

“Fade Into You” by Nashville Cast, Sam Palladio, Clare Bowen: Chapter 58. Finally the truth comes out and everything becomes real. Even if the song is pretty sad, the lyrics is just SO accurate and it describes the scene perfectly.

“I Miss You” by Adele: Chapter 59. Basically Nesta feeling needy ‘cause she doesn’t see Cassian for days, but it’s more than that. Pay attention to the depth of the song. It shakes you. And that’s what Nesta feels when she thinks of Nesta.

“Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera: Chapter 59/61. I want to dedicate it to my favorite girls in this book: Nesta, Emerie and Gwyn. They’ve been through a lot but they also learnt to face their fears. And they realized that unity is strength.

“Smile” by Uncle Kracker: Chapter 62. Cassian’s sooo happy to be with Nesta it breaks my heart. And his own too.

“Broken Pieces” by 5 Seconds of Summer: Chapter 62. Aaand here we go again. Cassian just wants Nesta to give him the chance to be happy with her.

“Carried Away” by H.E.R.: Chapter 62. Nesta thinks they got too carried away and now they’re at a point of no return. She opened herself to him too much. It’s not like she regrets this but she understands that now everything’s too real and changing. She doesn’t feel ready.

"What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes: Ending of Chapter 63. Okay, I’ll make you laugh but this is me after reading it. I needed to put a song about how I felt when I read this freaking ending, after all the devastation Chapter 62 brought into my heart. And the fact that Nesta’s 25 and the first line begins with “25 years”... I DIED. Also I think of her just screaming to the word “WHAT’S GOING ON?!”.

“Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves” by Eurythmics ft. Aretha Franklin: Chapters 64/65/66. DO I NEED TO DESCRIBE IT? NAH, I DON’T THINK SO. THESE GIRLS ARE POWERFUL, STRONG AND SMART AS HELL.

“Run The World (Girls)” by Beyoncé Chapters 67/68/69/70. The girls want to win and they’re going to conquer everything with no mercy.

“Puppets” by Depeche Mode: Chapter 71. Eris impotence t is heartbreaking.

“Warriors” by Imagine Dragons: This song is for every character. It’s about Nesta, Emerie and Gwyn, but also Cassian, Azriel and Eris. They’re fighting different battles and they’re doing it with every ounce of power they have.

“Emperor’s New Clothes” by Panic! At The Disco: Chapter 74. Nesta kicking Briallyn’s ass.

“Survivor” by Destiny’s Child: This song is dedicated to Emerie and Gwyn. They spent all their lives learning how to survive. At the end, they finally won.

“Set Fire to the Rain” by Adele: THE Nessian Anthem. I put this here ‘cause FINALLY they’re endgame. But something bad’s about to happen...

“Cancer” by My Chemical Romance: Chapter 76. This chapter’s been the hardest one to face. I had to put the book down for a minute and breathe. I know this song made you panic and ow you know why I chose it. I can’t stop crying thinking about Feyre in those conditions and all the IC and her sisters surrounding her. I’m still so heartbroken.

“You Saved Me” by Skunk Anansie: Chapter 77. Nesta cares about Feyre. She’s her little sister and she just can’t let her die like that. She gave her a happy ending even if Nes had to lose almost every ounce of power she had and learned to accept. But they’re worthless in comparison with her sisters life. She just loves them both. She’d do anything for them and this scene proves it.

I put it in the playlist ‘cause at first I thought it could refer to Azriel and Cassian. But the more i listened to it, the more I realized it just describes every single character.

The songs represent what she really wants to tell her father. He’s the reason to start over. And she’s trying. Even if she made mistakes she’s ready to fight for the happiness and love she denied herself years and now she knows she deserves it.

Thankfully the story around this movie is shaping up to specifically be about JJ’s terrible storytelling and the way this movie betrayed The Last Jedi, so I feel like the long term conversation around it is going to be more like “Hey remember when Lucasfilm fucked up a completely good trilogy in the last movie?” instead of the ROTJ discussion where people just accept the retcons as canon now. Because frankly the Luke/Leia sibling reveal was as foreshadowed as and made more sense than Reypatine

Yeah, that’s what I think too. It’s still going to be accepted by a lot of people, unfortunately.

The sibling reveal ass-pull is the worst thing about the OT, it instantly shrank the universe and will always feel disjointed (I don’t remember seeing any part of the OT for the first time, it’s been on a loop since i was born- I still don’t naturally think of Luke and Leia as twins even though I’ve always known they supposedly are), but it doesn’t break the story, it doesn’t destroy anyone’s character arc. It leaves Leia hanging as far as resolution with Anakin, but that wasn’t something she needed until the retcon. They do at least acknowledge that it’s missing and try to address it (’tell your sister you were right’).

Whereas this Reypatine Skyusurper shit defeats the entire ST narrative. And no, it is not about found family.

1. Rey's whole problem she needed to grow out of was her delusion about her long lost family who totally loved her and living in a shitty desert by herself with their imagined ghosts instead of getting off her ass and having a life of her own, she needed to stop looking for parents in every authority figure she met, she needed to accept her past and move on and forge her own identity. That was her entire character arc and the whole thematic basis of TLJ was confronting her with it. With this ‘um actually’, the story now says she was right to sit around in a graveyard waiting for her parental daydream to come true and to have a ready-made identity handed to her on a silver platter with no character development or hard work necessary on her part whatsoever. She's back in the fucking desert on a dead planet with a delusion family of ghosts, but now the ghosts are literal. Her love is entirely barren.

2. Rey is a grown ass adult who ‘adopted’ herself into a dead family. They didn't adopt her. This is infantilising and creepy. She doesn't need a mummy and daddy, she needed to grow up and be her own person and start her own family. Now she never will, she's completely subsumed any stirrings of her own identity she started to have. Ben was the only person who pushed her towards adulthood and actualisation, without him she settles back into her bad coping mechanisms surrounded by enablers who don't know or understand her well enough to help. This is a horror film on at least three levels- Rey as the cuckoo changeling who steals the place of the true child, the Skywalkers as a cursed family of sociopaths who are haunting this bystander now that they’ve wiped themselves out, and Rey as mental patient who retreats completely from the real world into her fantasy.

3. Good Victim/Bad Victim replacement child bullshit. All of the Skywalkers and Han are such gaping fucking assholes they reject Ben but love Rey for the SAME reasons. Because she's just inherently better than him and there's nothing he can do to be worthy. There's no moment in his life he could have done something differently to be accepted, he's just a garbage child no one wants. He was doomed from conception. He dared to be traumatised by being preyed on, abandoned, and betrayed, so he doesn’t deserve to live.

4. Terrio said in an interview that the 'original sin' of SW was separating the twins. So adoption is bad, actually. Never mind that Luke and Leia were separated for their protection and both went to loving homes where they were raised well by good parents. They didn't get to grow up together on Tatooine so that's terrible?? And he says they were never reunited there so we all wanted that. a) No we didn't, Chris, everyone hated Tatooine and no one wanted to live there, Luke says 'if there's a bright centre to the universe you're on the planet that it's furthest from', Anakin was a slave there, his mother was murdered there, it's a DEAD PLANET where BAD THINGS HAPPEN and every character wanted to escape from it b) Have you seen RotJ? Because Luke and Leia were together on Tatooine in the movie, my dude. Leia got to be a slave there for a while too. How fun for her to get in on the family tradition.

5. You made it 100% about bloodlines, Chris. This disingenuous bullshit that it's about rejecting that is the most hollow fucking nonsense I've ever heard.

Rey’s power came from her bloodline, her ‘darkness’ is biologically inherited and isn’t her fault and disappears with no effort from her, you turned the Skywalker name into a fucking superhero mantle and had all the legacy characters anoint her as their heir because she was just born worthy. You made her ‘heir of all the Jedi’ and they’re her ‘chosen ancestors’. Hey, dumbass, the Jedi don’t have heirs. Anyone can have the Force, anyone can be a hero without the Force- you have destroyed that by making Force sensitivity the sign of the elect. F/nn shouldn’t be Force sensitive and making all the defected stormtroopers Force sensitive robs the characters of agency. You have rewritten a story about the deathless hope offered by the eternal possibility of choosing differently into a story about predestination.

This was never about ‘the Palpatines’ vs the Skywalkers. The Emperor was just one evil guy whose backstory and bloodline were irrelevant, he stands in for all selfishness and callous ambition, for the temptation to choose power and control over love. It’s a personal story about individuals and individual struggles- how to be an ethical adult. Lineage didn’t fucking matter, it was so important that Vader was Luke’s father because of the personal relationship it gave them, because of how it challenged Luke and his worldview. The connection it gave them which would radically redefine the stakes and ultimately give the OT its meaning. Rey has no connection to Palpatine and being related to him does nothing but implode any meaning her character ever had.

I actually have a whole bucketlist of stuff I'd love to learn/try! I'm one of those ppl who latches on to a new dream hobby like every month and the only thing stopping me is lack of funds/time/available classes lmao

A big one I've had since childhood though is woodworking! I used to have a little plastic playset I loved as a small child with fake planks of different sizes with holes and screws to build things, then when I got older and kinda forgot about it M/ose from N/ed's Dec/lassified reawakened my interest and was kind of an 'Oh wow girls can legit do that, it's not just a gruff man thing? And it's pretty cool?'.

Unfortunately I'm complete dogshit at measuring anything bc judging size in relation and amounts of items is hard for me. Like, had the best teacher ever for a light shop/engineering class in middle school who tried to take me under his wing as much as he could and he still couldn't save my projects from being completely out-of-scale, not-working disasters. Also I'm terrified of being around saws of any kind.

I love seeing the stuff the guy who played R/on Swa/nson makes, like on his crafting reality show with Amy? Everyone he talks about it in detail I'm like, yes please educate us let me live vicariously through you.

I'm sure I'd do a lot better with the more freehand creative type stuff though, like whittling things with one of those knives. You can kind of eyeball that, no measuring required really and you have a lot more control over what you're doing/how much pressure you're adding. That was also lowkey awakened by tv (Dr/ake and Jo/sh, when the guy makes a duck out of the soap bar). I make fun of Leonard's stupid wooden ducks but I would unironically love doing stuff like that. Idk what I would do with all the little figurines and carved sticks but... I wanna carve things.

I'm very wary of cutting myself up doing it unsupervised though, so I'd rather not attempt it unless I could take a beginner's class or something first. Or get the proper supplies.

The left and giving up ground

This one is walking on egg shells but I think a lot of the online left has a problem with surrendering ground for a number of reasons.

Maybe a leftist figure made a bad take online.

A concept or idea that was once shared by a tinted figure, then people view the idea as tinted by association.

Or standard “Well I don't like the tendency of X leftist TIME FOR HOT TAKES AND EPIC DUNKS!”

You see it all the time with online discourse and it's a complete horrors-show much of the time. Now before anyone puts words in my mouth, this isn't advocating for figures to be immune to criticism, bad ideas not to get debunked or even to silence discussions.

But just because someone undesirable touched the toolbox one time does not mean we need to throw the entire toolbox in the bin and salt the earth.

When it comes to dunking on things you don't like or the shit throwing discourse that comes after something messed up happens, there is a certain catharsis in it for leftists and it can come off as a shotgun blast to the face rather than getting a surgeon in to carefully operate.

One example I want to use is left-tube or bread tube whatever you desire to call it.

Breadtube has had controversies around it, content creators tweeting out really terrible takes on twitter or sometimes making content that is dubious when they are expected to hold the role of educators.

And they should be held to account when they do questionable things, the entire “Everything I don't like is cancel culture” seems to be a get out of jail free card to avoid said criticism.

But you often here “Breadtube is garbage” “Fuck leftube, delete your accounts, log off, go away.”  H OT T A K E S from online leftists because of these incidents and it comes off as very reductive at best.

I get it, there have been leftist figures who have said and done annoying crap or even had a fair share of YIKES moments and as I've stated these incidents should be criticized and the people who put that content out pulled aside and talked too if they are willing to listen.

But I think “Thrash left tube” Or “Bin this tool because a problematic person used it once” is not a good look for us because it advocates giving up ground and ignores the positives that have been done with these platforms and tools.

Oh and I don't think BREAD TUBE WILL CRUSH THE RIGHT AND SAVE THE WORLD ALL HAIL THE GREAT THOUGHT LEADER MAN! Fuck no and you shouldn't put people on a pedestal but it's a tool in a toolbox, one of many tools that has use in our arsenal and we should view it as that.

Look the youtube algorithm is radicalizing alienated people, the mainstream media is under the iron grip of neo-liberal thinking and online media is a mix of fascist content, gateway drugs or conspiracy websites so pushing back against that is a good thing and in some cases has worked.

We shouldn't underwrite the good leftist content creators have done(Helping people out of fascism, the Mermaids charity stream and a number of other things), we can still hold them to account if they fuck up but I think “Bin left tube” just makes me sigh sometimes and comes off as babbys first twitter dunk.(There’s also that leftist youtubers aren’t a blob entity and you underwrite smaller leftist voices too by acting like everyones in a hive mind clique)

And this isn't just content creation or information but other things I've noticed leftist throw away because someone they didn't like shared it once or a gross figure who was outed supported the same thing therefore its “Tinted now”

In the end this surrenders ground to the right who know how to game things. Posting “UwU” memes on social media or lol epic hot take isn't going to stop fascism nice as it would be. We need a well equipped tool box and yes sometimes the tools might break, sometimes a shithead might use one of them but don't throw it away.

Pursuing perfection and purity is a fools errand and no matter how cathartic it makes you feel personally it is a scorched Earth tactic.

There is a god damn fascist international at the door, TERFs have become more energized and well funded by right wing interests. Fascists, TERFs and other hate groups have the ears of governments, media orgs and more. We don’t have the time to be messing around because the alternative is we get killed and your hot takes or bitching on twitter isn’t going to prevent that.

So maybe get off the arm chair, stop trying to destroy your own apparatus and tools. Learn some skills, do some activism, get involved more with the left IRL and learn to be good neighbors.

We’re not always going to see eye to eye, people in our spaces will sometimes fuck up and yes THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE when they do but it doesn’t mean salt the Earth ether.

hi, have you shared your thoughts on the last jedi? i'm a little torn because i did enjoy some parts but was also frustrated by others. i'm always looking forward to your opinions because i'm having trouble expressing what i think and you do it so well and most of the time we agree :)

I left the theatre undecided and as time has gone on I’ve found I like it less and less. I don’t have particularly strong feelings about Star Wars, thankfully, so not liking it isn’t really crushing for me nor does it ruin beloved childhood memories of the Original Trilogy or anything, it’s just kinda… anticlimatic and disappointing. Here are some of my general thoughts though:

let’s do some good things first:

visually very cool sequences, esp the salt planet, the fight in the red room, and the lightspeed destruction scene GOD that was cool

nice to see women hold a conversation with each other a couple times in a star wars movie!! maybe next movie rose will get to talk to another woman

i love rey and i love finn and i love rey and finn’s love for each other

i liked luke astral projecting, that was cool and a decent sendoff

i was emotional whenever leia did anything, even when it was surviving miraculously in the vacuum of space

the scene of kylo turning on snoke was obvious but still fun

crystal space foxes who can shrink!!! or collapse or uh whatever

rey holding out her hand to kylo so she can force grab the lightsaber aksfhla get rekt ben

and… other stuff:

this movie felt long as fuck. SO LONG. having 9 climaxes did not help. i was metaphorically checking my watch, but not literally bc it’s annoying when someone in a theatre pulls out their phone every half hour. but god. so long.

I love Finn and I liked Rose but the space casino stuff felt boring to me, mostly because it went nowhere. I appreciated the idea of the 1%ers vs the everyday people and the rebellion being born of the proletariat and all that, but the actual scenes it was in felt bloated and ultimately pointless since the codebreaker dude just betrays them and has some garbage message about how There Are Bad People On Both Sides Actually.

I also felt Rose’s heroic sacrifice didn’t really make any sense, in-universe – I get that she loves Finn (who doesn’t!!!), but the movie seemed to suggest Finn’s heroic sacrifice woud be Bad, even though, like, from Finn and everyone else’s perspective it was their only option. This is not comparable to Poe’s run at the dreadnaught in the starter scene, because all 30 remaining resistance fighters are in that cave and if that canon isn’t destroyed, as far as they know, they are all dead.  If Luke hadn’t astral projected – which none of them could possibly have planned on – they were dead. OBVIOUSLY I don’t want Finn to die, but it made sense from his perspective as a course of action for the greater good. The dreadnaught they could’ve ignored for another time, rather than losing dozens/hundreds? of fighters to take it out right then and there. The cannon could not wait. So the lesson Poe was supposed to learn ended up being applied strangely.

I didn’t grow up loving the OT nor do I have deep childhood nostalgia for it or its characters, but I think if I did I would be upset by what was done to them. I can see how people are very upset by Luke here, even if I personally was never invested enough in the original Luke to have strong feelings about it. I feel like I need to leave that argument to the people who have loved this character for decades. But I read reviews or critiques about how it seems the OT accomplished nothing, since ~30 years later the galaxy is even more fascist than it once was, Han and Luke are dead, Leia is going to disappear off screen for reasons outside of production’s control, the last Skywalker is this fascist overlord once more, et cetera… like… that’s bleak. I know shit happens but in a narrative it’s nice to have some sense of triumph, and even if I believe Finn and Poe and Rey will triumph (which I do obviously because it’s Disney), that doesn’t change Luke and Leia and Han accomplishing shit-all in the long term apparently, and then it’s also like, ok, even if Rey and Finn succeed at Saving the Galaxy, Disney’s just gonna make Movie X where their successive generation destroys everyone anyway, so like……

To my own surprise probably my favourite bit of this movie ended up being that fight where Rey and Kylo team up for ten minutes, and their overall story was maybe my favourite overall – I was on edge the whole time worrying what they’d do with it, but as it stands, I liked it. I liked that Rey felt compelled to try and save him~ and that it failed and Kylo is just a huge douche of his own accord, basically. Whereas TFA made me feel like he would definitely be redeemed by the end of the trilogy, this movie made me feel like he probably wouldn’t be. Not that it really matters, because…

The reality is though I don’t even see the point in speculating or thinking about what means what or any of the fun fan stuff because I honestly don’t believe there’s any kind of arching vision for these movies. They’re a hot potato being passed from writer to writer, kind of like the MCU, where everyone just does whatever the fuck they maybe want as long as it’s PG-13 enough for Disney, so like… who cares.

People spent two years wondering who Rey’s parents were and aside from how you felt about the reveal itself, Rian Johnson was like “lol !!! there was nothing planned I had total freedom to do whatever I want!!” so like, why should I bother caring about any of this?? Everything’s made up and the points don’t matter and there’s no use decoding foreshadowing when it either means nothing or the next writer in line will decide to toss it out a window anyway. (This bitterness applies to more than just Star Wars, tbh, but Star Wars is a big one.)

Also if I have to read one more post condescendingly explaining that this movie was all about no resolution~*~*~*~**~ so it’s ok that it had no resolution and you’re stupid if you’re mad about it, or whatever, I am going to explode. Those posts give me Moffat Who war flashbacks. A movie can claim to be about whatever it wants, doesn’t mean people have to like it.

Hiveswap Act 1 OST Review

Ok, I’ve been listening to it for some time. I should really review the OST! 

I’m a musical ameteur so this is a bad idea. Hope you enjoy it! 

1. Definitely Safe Forever -  good. 3 out of 5. nothing else to say on the matter

2. Snake Escape - great. very funky, nice bass tones. iconic hiveswap tone... 4 out of 5.

3. Joey Claire, Extraordinaire - Nice slow buildup, gentle theme. Feels welcoming and safe, yet a bit more curious than your average Pokemon hometown theme. The wind instrument gets extremely loud at times, maybe too loud. But this track is so different from what Homestuck usually offers that it paints a new identity for Hiveswap. It’s repetitive enough to not distract you, but interesting enough to not bore you. I like how it gets a bit more mellow and bittersweet over time, which is something you can say for a lot of tracks. 4/5.

4. Half-Harley Manor - I have always liked  the leitmotif for this house. It’s... not quite spooky, but not warm and welcoming either. I love how this track starts loud and spooky, then you have quiet percussion, then it gets back to the original theme with a bit more windiness... very satsifying. Then the part where it gets VERY sparkly and happy. Idk what intrument that is. Keyboard? It’s the only part of the song that makes this feel like home, ut then it loops back into the original alienating theme. 4 out of 5..... 

5. Relatively Visible Darkness - I don’t like the trumpets in this much but I enjoy everything else about this theme. Serves its job. Relatively unspectacular... until the chorus in the second half,  then it gets great. for a little bit. 3 out of 5.

6. Bedroom for an Annoying Dog - Love the final fantasy joke. Love how scary they made the fucking basement sound. Love how this builds up with the, uhh, organ pipes? 5 out of 5.

7. That’s How I Beat Snake - hmmm... Very nice intro but the main theme is a bit shit, until it hits the chorus, then it gets catchy. Its soundfont is... odd. I think it serves well as a fight theme but is the weakest battle music in the game. I do like the drop at the second part a lot! 3 out of 5. or 6 out of 10. yes. lets start doing them out of 10 from now on because fuck consistency.  

8. Jude Harley, Bizarrely - Nice character theme but terrible music. I think that’s the intention. You do however lose points for it being a remix of Joey’s theme and Harleyhouse Manor because it means the only sort of leitmotif Jude has is how fucking bad his music is . 6 out of 10 get this CANMT shit out of here.

9. Table for Tooth - NICE INTRO! This was used in the trailer, right? I love the initial drop. The main theme’s instrument is... garbage, yes. But then it plays the Harleyhouse theme and it’s SO GOOD.  Wish that part was longer. 7 out of 10. 

10. Final Spice - if you think this sounds like an Undertale track it’s cos this one had the least touching up by James. It reminds me of Toriel’s theme. Nice and catchy but not quite good enough for me to enjoy. 7 out of 10. 

11. Living Legend - The final and best battle theme on tis track. Another Final Fantasy joke. I love this theme and what James and Toby did with it. 9 out of 10.... not quite the best track on the album, but very close. 

12. Singular Peril - nice and perilous. Also nice coming off of the Final Fantasy track cos this reminds me  of when you escape the nuclear plant in FF7. 8 out of 10. Would work better if it wasnt heard for just 3 seconds.

13. A More Defensible Position  - I, think this is the tied second-best track on the album because of its second part. So magical, so ominous. You feel shit building up here.  9 out of 10. 

14. Open the Door - Majestic buildup, dark, intense, spooky......... then it becomes nothing shot of an anticlimax. It needs to be LOUDER on the piano part! Then it could have been the best track easily! 7 out of 10. 

15. Keep Your Head Down - I’m annoyed at how far forward this track is cos you only hear it after Xefros gets flattened. I love it though, very 80s, fitting remix of Xefros’s theme to represent the path he and Joey have ahead of them. 1980 out of 2000.

16. Oh Whoah, What’s This - The theme’s fine. A nice intro to Dammek’s hive, gentle and empty after the dramatic teleportation. The name however is unacceptable. 0 out of 10. 

17. Some Kind Of Alien - WHOAHHHH the transition between these two themes is nuts. I love how LOUD this track is! I love the waltzy beat, the flute, how it represents Dammek’s conspiring nature. It gets much more cheerful as it goes on,perhaps indicating this boy isn’t entirely a weird jerk.  And it ends on Karkat! 8 out of 10. Probably deserves a 9. 

18. Rustblood - When people play through this game, this tune really catches them. And I enjoy it, because this is the part of the game that starts feeling like homestuck, yknow? Anyway Xefros has by far the most distinguished theme out of any of his mates. This is very Toby Fox. Very solid 7 out of 10. 

19. Filthy Nuclear Bunker - you know how HYPE this track is? You just want to click on everything and read all the text, because it has hit you that you’re playing the HOMESTUCK VIDEOGAME  and youre REALLY ENJOYING IT. 9 out of 10 for the variety of instruments, the upbeat mood. Despite the weird soundfont. I’m feeling generous. This music is relatively long though, compared to the others. It should end before I change my mind.

20. SPORTS! Personally I Love Them - this is the third time ive listened to this track today. 7.8 out of 10 too much Superbowl. Liked the Dark Souls reference in this room. I wish the music that played during the puzzle was in this OST.

21. Lofted Gunpile - A more “meh” version of Dammek’s theme. I prefer what they eventually went with. Why did James want it to be so.... low? Same complaint as the anticlimactic portal theme. Do like when the instruments start blending together near the end. 6 out of 10. 

22. Serpent Genesis Better, original version of the snake fight with better soundfont. 8 out of 10. 

23. We Shall Go Together - Beautiful ending to the game. Nothing spectacular about it though. 6 out of 10. 

24. Wish You Were Here - Our first taste of Trizza’s theme and by jegus it’s amazing. Very little can make you more hyped for act 2 than an intimidating introduction to the antagonist, a selfie over a burning village. WHOAHHH its actually playing now and I like it even more. That DROP. 9 out of 10 easily. 

25. Intermission 1 - Welcome to the best track on the fucking album. I think the credits should always be the best. Starts off with continuing Trizza’s theme, letting us absorb what we just witnessed, as drawings of the game we just played appear. Then you get hints of the theme from Dammek’s hive. Quieter during this part.... funkier again... THEN IT GETS REALLY INTENSE.  That’s easily my favourite part. Anyway, 10 out of 10. This track alone has me ready to wait for act 2. 

26. Alternate Recipe - 8bit mix of the spice theme. Louder, which is good. 7.5 out of 10. Catchy.

27. Heavy Snaking - I... prefer the original snake theme in the context of a fight. This is ok to listen to by itself though. Oh gosh that bass! 8 out of 10 great music, wrong atmosphere for the extremely brief battle. This’d be great as a boss encounter theme though. If it was used in the right place, then it’d possibly score even a 9 or 10.

28. “How It Could Have Gone” - seems to be about the portal? A ot louder than what they went with. I wouldnt have minded this being merged with the actual theme, but I still think it could be better. 7 out of 10.I love the spookiness of the original and would be sad if that was gone.

29. Old steps - Dance, Joey, Dance! Not really a song. 

30. UNDERTALE. 10/10. Sincerely. I love it. 

Total musical rating -  8 out of 10. Does its job very well of being good but not distracting. Good background music, rather than the energetic music of Homestuck itself.

My last post got erased, so maybe that’s a good thing. It was just a rant about insecurity and stuff. Last night we went on a date and it was really good. We parked at her job and luckily she  knows the area so she  lead us to the sandwich shop. Right off the bat she was really energetic and friendly in a way that kind of reminded me of mom. The conversation was constant and there was laughing and whatnot. She’s a big loud laugher, which I like. I can’t tell if she’s being overly polite and laughing harder than she wants to but whatever it is it works. We chatted about a whole bunch of stuff, there was thunder she loves thunder and lightning too. She went on a trip to Kenya to help poor people but they sent her to a resort with John travolta? She went to West virginia for some volunteer thing. We picked up the sandwiches and it was funny because she placed the order under her name and I thought she had put it under my name haha. We walked to the reflecting pool. I talked a lot about my bad dating skills and awkward momements. I spent a lot of time telling her these things that might have been an overshare but she seemed really receptive to all of them and valued that I was being vulnerable. I don’t like that dynamic to be honest, I don’t want her to be my therapist. I’ll try and moderate that and make sure it’s all in the name of levity. It mostly was but perhaps a bit of it was more to defend myself and give reason to the ways that I am. Like prefacing a story with a statement. We went ot the reflecting pool and ate sitting on the stones next to it. THe summer rolls were a disaster to eat and we watched ants feast on the fallouts of mine. It was definitely not pretty, I was pretty hungry and not eating very politely but she laughed and enjoyed it. She asked me if I was an insect what insect I would be. I couldn’t come up with anything. It’s a hard questions, either because I don’t know myself, don’t want to describe myself accurately/only want to use positive descriptors, and/or the dificulty in ascribing qualities to bugs. She said I was a stick bug because I was... I can’t remember lol. Maybe I was cool or osmething, I really can’t remember. She asked me what I thought she was and she thought I was going to say ant but she was the opposite. I said jumping spider because she’s an individual. I guess to add on to it she’s energetic/lively and has personality and is likable. Maybe I tried to hard on it haha. I also didn’t want to be complimenting too hard. We finished up and were going back to her job to put the sandwiches in the fridge to get them later. We washed up and as we were leaving a spanish looking family were coming to the door and she let them in, they said they were there to clean and she let them in. I cracked a joke about not throwing my food in the fridge away because I wanted to break the tension of a couple coming out of a workplace after hours. She started to wonder if she just  let people in to rob the place haha. She texted Linda about it and apparently it was fine. We went to the Famished Frog/Caps and had cocktails. I had a raspberry gin blossom one and she had some blueberry lemonade thing. They were kind of awful and completely unmixed. The table was slippery anywhere water would touch because of residual soap. We talked for about 2.5 hours. She was telling me stories about Cooper/Collin from 4th grade (her first heartbreak and the say Collin found out nobody cared if he went missing). She asked me which character I was from Rick and Morty and described herself as Mr.Meseeks because she’s always trying to hard to help and make situations okay, her being loud, and existential dread hahahah. I was telling her when I had the epiphany from reading East of Eden of how these people from a different time and place had the same problems as me and she roasted me or discovering ‘empathy’ and the universal human experience. She told me a story of how in Ireland she was at an Air BnB with a lady named after some goddess, ends with ‘id’, and she kept finishing her tea to be polite and the lady kept refilling it, and the next day the lady made her three whole pots. I was beaming at her the whole time. She’s funny and smart and entertaining and thinks I tell stories funny and can laugh at herself and me and the people around us. I don’t have to be nervous about being myself because she’s magically on the same page.I think she’s attractive, but her mind is just a massive turn on. It makes me feel inadequate, like she’ll eventually find out I can’t keep up. But that hasn’t happened yet and it’s not helpful to worry about it. We left after the closed. I wanted ot kiss her at one point and grabbed her arm and leaned it but it just didn’t happen, she didn’t seem to catch it. Right as they were closing a girl standing by us slowly poured her drink out, then quietly dropped it to the group even though there was a garbage right by. Erin was quietly losing her shit at this ‘garbage person’. I guess that’s where I got confused, at some point she started to turn into Amara. Hilarious overflowing cauldron of sarcasm and resentment towards stupid people. Jesus christ that’s who I am too. We went ot he bathrooms and were in the Famished Frog when it was closed and empty and she said it was a childhood dream of hers. We left and she gave me a tour of the town. I held her hand and she made jokes about it and was weird about it- I asked if I wasn’t supposed to and if it wasn’t okay, I said I just wanted to it was just a feeling and she let me. She has really slender fingers. That lasted till she pointed out a stump that had hollowed and asked why it was hollow. I didn’t know where I stood and didn’t push it but I wanted to. I walked closely and let my hand be there and available just incase but we didn’t hold hands for the rest of the night. I can’t tell if she’s not affectionate or just wasn’t at the same place as me. I would grab and touch her periodically, I did the hug from behind thing. She didn’t resist but she didn’t reciprocate. We walked and talked more and eventually got back to the cars. We went inside her office and chatted briefly. Its a really nice office. We went to the back and sat in her trunk and watched people through the windows and talked. It had ebbs and flows, she asked me what my favorite part of the date was... I can’t remember what I said. Maybe the girl pouring out her drink. I told her a lot of times I was having a really good time. I don’t know if that played in my favor but I was emotionally open throughout the night. She's hard to read. She got onto a thing about how she hates morristown and were joking about it being awful, it really reminded me of Amara. In the light she started to look like who she looked in her Bumble profile. I said something about how I don’t know how she looks. I like her face. She texted me later making fun of me for saying I didn’t know what she looked like. Maybe this is all the dynamic, she’s emotionally guarded and I’m the one who is open and vulnerable.  Eventually she said we should get going and I told her my least favorite part of the date was when I tried to kiss her and it didn’t happen. She said she didn’t realize and I think I sort of asked if we could kiss. Something weird happened and she like moved out of the way, kind of like Lauren. I walked away dramatically about how I’m cursed and came back to her and this time I fucked it up and dodged her kiss and she gave me shit and then we finally kissed. Like moths bumping into  a light bulb haha. It was  nice, it’s weird how you can’t describe how to french kiss but you know how to do it. I gave her shit for still holding onto her stuff and she immediately dropped everything to the floor and like really kissed me. Like a really grabbing kiss. We talke very briefly afterwards and she gave me the song ‘Holocene’ to listen to, I wanted her to listen to I WIsh You Were Here. I had played the song Echo briefly before. I drove home and wasn’t totalyl sure where I stood honestly but I had asked her what her favorite part of the date was and she said all of it. The whole date was a good feeling. It was fun and she made me feel good. She said she would go on a second date so we have to figure that out. I’m trying to figure out how much to text and communicate, she has been unresponsive for some time but  honestly the texting thing is annoyin. Liek do you have to have a running conversation the whole day? WHADYA SUPPOSED TO DO? I’m leaving now to go to a barbeque at Andrews neighbors, Kara should be there. It’s ironic I’m meeting her after having gone on a date with Erin. I’ll go just to make the connection but I hope things work out with Erin, I’m kind of smitten.

Wow, blaming Leia for Kylo’s “hate” - that’s a new one. Blaming Leia’s anger for Kylo - but I’ve seen it in GIF sets about how “Kylo didn’t stand a chance” with bits of Leia and Han’s anger in the OT. Y’know, Han riding out in the snow to save Luke? Him saying “I’ll see you in hell” to someone trying to stop him? Well, that just means that Kylo was always destined to be angry! And I guess Leia’s anger that her planet and family have been vaporized and the fascists hold sway over the galaxy is bad too - she should have just sat down somewhere and wrote some sternly worded Tumblr posts instead of fighting for democracy. Because you know fighting back against the fascists makes you as bad as one? 

Don’t believe me? I’ve seen people asking why Leia gets a pass for blowing up Starkiller Base. Or saying the Rebellion committed genocide too when they blew up the Death Star.

And why do we get that? Well, the ST seems determined in its “humanizing” of Kylo to turn him into a victim - or should I more properly say, certain fans do. He’s the legacy of Han and Leia and Luke (cue posters telling me I can’t love Han and Leia and Luke and hate Kylo because they want him redeemed. Answer? Wrong, I love Han, Leia and Luke and hate Kylo. Thank you for playing. Please enjoy your parting gifts.)

And that is the poison that seeps into the cracks and corners of the sequel trilogy - that the illustrious producers and team in charge decided it would be quite okay to make the main villain the child of Han and Leia and trainee of Luke. “HIstory repeating!” I’m sure is what they said. 

But it’s not. It’s one more goddamn “oh, the heroes of your parents’ youth aren’t heroes, your people are the heroes and will fix their mistakes” plot and y’know what? Fuck you Lucasfilm, JJ, Larry, and Kathleen. Oh and let’s not forget Rian Johnson. In 2018, when the Han Solo movie fails, and in 2020, when Ep 9 leaves the last multiplex to go to blu ray and you wonder why the sales aren’t quite there, maybe you’ll realize that you didn’t have to do it this way. Maybe grimdark wasn’t the way to go.

LFL et al, you didn’t have to build your new characters on the beaten in bones of the old ones. I would have been quite happy to follow Rey and Finn and Poe as they rallied to beat Kylo Ren et al. Except you decided that Kylo Ren had to be created at the expense of characters I loved. You okayed breaking up Han and Leia and turning Han into a jackass and Luke into a coward. You allowed poison to go into kids’ books, implying Han needs Kylo’s “forgiveness” for what exactly? The crime of not dying soon enough? Not giving Kylo the power boost he was looking for? 

You took a fairy tale and decided it needed to be “relatable” to today’s audience so that means that anyone over 35 needs to be turned into a loser and failure - like it’s 1969 all over again. Even three of the most memorable heroes in the history of cinema.

What good did it do you? Well, I guess you got your oh so relatable villain who some fans are turning into a representative of people who can’t escape their bad circumstances - no, you read that right. Kylo is the representative of “forgotten children” not FINN, who actually is one! The villain of the piece is to be pitied and turned into a victim because...well, let’s face it. Because he’s a privileged white boy.

So I have enormous trouble bringing myself to care what happens in Last Jedi. Especially since your damn writer/director has decided that Kylo is a “co protagonist” whatever in fuck that means, like he’s still directing Breaking Bad and not Star Wars. I guess now that you’ve trashed Han and Leia, it gets to be Luke’s turn next and with comments like that, I guess Finn and Rey and Poe are at risk too? Why not? Why not glorify “co-protagonist” Kylo and his “issues” and “humanity.” The only humanity I want to see from Kylo is his ability to die. I don’t care if he’s “sorry” for what he’s done or “patricide wasn’t what it was cracked up to be” or whatever garbage was spewn when those cover stories came out. He can die. Painfully, slowly, preferrably in a way that I can easily GIF and repost hourly for weeks on end...

What's Migos Without Takeoff?

First off, their mainstream success came around 2013 from the YRN Mixtape, Versace etc. I’ma say that’s when shit really came on the scene. Keep it a buck, no one outside of ATL could tell the difference between the three members. I don’t even think, we knew homies’ names around the time they first came out. Majority of people didn’t even know who they were until Drake did the mix on the Versace joint. NFS, I’m not even saying he validated them. 

But the one thing that was obvious was that one of the three had a different tone, a different sound. I honestly thought it was only two dudes in the group. A little side note: Offset was out of town during that recording. That explains why I thought there were only two, but that brings me to my next point. Takeoff was actually holding it down with Quavo while Offset was OT.

Bringing to my next point -- he literally sounds different (lol!). If you ask me, Quavo and Offset sound very similar. It could be because they fuck with auto-tune, but I feel like one can cancel out other. You really don’t NEED both though, feel me? Not saying Takeoff should takeoff (no pun intended), but he could definitely start a solo career if he wanted to simply because he has a different sound. Imagine a Migos with just Quavo & Offset -- That shit would be garbage! But we already know what a Migos group with just Quavo & Takeoff  would sound like because that’s how they were introduced. It’s how they were brought on.  Another side note: Offset was in jail majority of the time that they were blowing up in the industry.

Takeoff’s flow is unique and animated which is definitely more versatile. You may have not realized there is an evident change in sound, usually something more hyped. He doesn’t rely on auto-tune the way Quavo does. Lowkey, that shit is life support for Quavo (lmao!). Offset uses that shit too. He’s not low! He also switches up his flows, but so dramatically that it makes him forgettable. Like for real, did you know who he was before ‘Bad & Boujee’? Can y’all tell him apart on any other tracks? The only time you can tell is when they yell their names before their verses, which funny shit because they know niggahs can’t tell ‘em apart.

On the other hand, Takeoff naturally got a sound that works for him and like I mentioned before, he gets lead on hooks behind Quavo. Not to mention Takeoff kills a lot more on the hooks than Offset. Offset got ‘Bad & Boujee’ and that may be their biggest song for now, but that’s all he got. Takeoff hooked on ‘Fight Night,’‘T-Shirt,’‘Casting Call,’‘Look At Me Dab’ (I think). -- But ‘Fight Night’!!! Son ‘Fight Night’ was the college party theme. That shit is low-key a mandatory spin. 

Takeoff has been crucial to their longevity. He’s on all of the tracks besides Bad & Boujee, which is the only hit without him. In his place, they just got Lil Uzi Vert. Offset wasn’t on ‘Look At Me Dab’ or ‘Pipe it Up.’ We see Quavo doing his features without Migos and at a high rate. But are those songs really hitting like that? What song are we really bumping that got Quavo killing it on a track without Migos? I think he gets the most hype because he is the leader (I think, and this is my opinion). Quavo is diluting his equity by leaving what works. He is cashing in on him being hot too soon. Once that well dries up, are we really going to be looking for a Quavo solo project? 

To be honest the only artist I think he meshes with well outside of Migos is Travis Scott. And if you think about it, Takeoff sounds a lot like Travis (but that’s another topic). But real shit, we love Quavo simply because we already have Quavos outchea, feel me? Any nigga who used auto-tune is Quavo. 

Offset did a feature, but it was with Cardi B…and I never heard it. You can say no one looking for Offset or he maybe keeping to what works and not in a rush to get into that because he just might be lowkey smart. He could be milkin’ what he already has going for him and then break out, but who knows. Deeper toned artist have always been in demand (pause!). Also the homie Takeoff is only 22 I believe, so he got mad time to grow into his own. He’s already hitting and got a huge catalog… longer than Offset. 

Its whack that people assume he is the weakest of the three, but I see him as the most consistent. I’m not going to let y'all make Takeoff the “Michelle” of this group -- I’m not here for it! Put respect on his genius! Migos as a whole is a great group and has had one of the longest runs as a hip-hop trio that we've seen in recent years. This is not because they are on the coattails of the 'group's leader,' but because they unify, strategize and stick together --  a cohesive collective. No one is able to get in-between them, especially the media as you seen from last night's BET interview for Everyday Struggle. Each one is independent and responsible for holding down the squad. A lot of people forget what that looks like and rush to assume, label and downplay. 

If Takeoff is a real one for deflecting the BS, not letting the negative implode and mess up the group. Then Takeoff is a real one.

I don’t know how i feel about this!!!!! I mean, Chess... and then the crown.. that’s very cool! BUT THEN IT LOOKS LIKE IT’S A SNOW/ICE BEAR AND IT’S EVEN WEARING A SCARF LIKE IT’S COLD... BUT SUDDENLY... FISH!? UNDERWATER ICE BEAR WITH A SCARF? I dunno, I still kind of like him! I think I am bias, Tundras are awesome!!

OMFG SEE YOU ARE SO GOOD AT THIS! THE WHITES IN THE FEATHERS, THE GREENS AND YELLOWS IN THE SILKS PERFECTLY COMPLIMENTING THE TEAL AND THE YELLOW – THE GREENS AND YELLOWS IN THE LUREFISH... THE SHADOW EYES BRINGING THIS ALL TOGETHER!? This is freaking BEAUTIFUL, HOT DAMN!!!

Argh, there’s SO  MANY MORE I WANT TO TALK ABOUT, but i’m just rambling and repeating myself at this point!
