In Persona 4 and Persona 5, party members joining is a big deal. So it is given a lot of ceremony there. No issue there. But Persona 3 really did have some funny ad-hoc shit.
Akihiko pulled up and said "I found this boyfailure and brought him home"
My favourite thing in the beginning of an RPG is when the villagers are like "Ah, monsters are attacking the village" but they're always just like the most non threatening creatures possible
Before going AWOL, Shrike was a promising military cadet working for the Twin Eagles corporation in Hashak. But, unlike most of the Zill, military life didn't really agree with her, so she chose a life of leisure hanging out with Phlegm and the rest of the crew.
Taking odd jobs with Phlegm isn't the most fulfilling career, so she spends most of her time drinking at Pelican's Tavern, burning away what little teeth she earned. Most missions with Phlegm end in catastrophe, and Shrike often has to pick up the slack. But, she keeps hanging out with him for some reason.
In combat, Shrike isn't a slouch. Her axe uses advanced Zill technology and has the capacity to hit HARD. Also, like the rest of Phlegm's crew, her deft hands mean no enemy's possessions are safe.
Shrike specializes in Magic of the Wasteland, which lets her enchant her weapon with flames, set off chain explosions, and burn off positive status effects, among other things.
Want to see Shrike in all her glory? Make sure to support Hymn to the Earless God on Kickstarter!
I'm screaming, crying, throwing up right now. The Backerkit goes live on May 7th. It's real. It's really really real.
If you purchased the Ashcan and enjoyed it. If you didn't purchase the Ashcan because you were waiting for the actual campaign. If you are just now hearing about this game. If you hate me and want to spite me by pledging for a PDF and leaving fart jokes in the comment section.
Please go and sign up to get notified when the Backerkit goes live.
You may be tempted to think Adachi is my favorite P4 character based on the blog, but that distinction actually goes to this lady here:
I love that the writers room really did say "yeah yeah give her the most traditionally Japanese Feminine aesthetics imaginable yeah yeah now make her the strangest woman to ever draw breath"
