Wasn’t sure what else to do with it, so I stuck my Master’s thesis online. It’s a history of Autistic advocacy as it correlates with, is informed by, and ultimately informs diagnostic criteria; followed by notes toward an oral history of ASAN.
At least some if it is--as far as I know--seminal work.
Abstract: Unlike the larger disability rights movement with which it is aligned, the history ofAutistic-led advocacy is limited to the last thirty years. In this thesis, I use peer-reviewed papers,first-hand accounts, and historical examples to examine how the exclusion of Autistic adultsfrom diagnostic criteria effectively obviated the development of Autistic communities andorganizations and paved the way for a parent-dominated movement; and the parallel role ofchanging diagnostic criteria and a popularly accessible Internet in the subsequent rapid evolutionof Autistic advocacy, including the eventual role of Autistic advocates in redefining diagnosticcriteria. Following the researched portion of the thesis are preliminary materials and notestoward the development of a comprehensive oral history of the Autistic Self Advocacy Network.

Oh My God, Jay Edidin of Jay and Miles X-Plain the X-men fame has a page on the Marvel wiki.
Since I kinda got behind on the podcast I’m not up to date to the lives or Miles and Jay, so I had no idea Jay had gotten to work with Marvel proper.
Like, I’d heard he was involved in the development of some Thor audioplay, but I had no idea he’d written an actual comic book. An actual comic book focused on Cyclops! (featuring Super Doctor Astronaut Peter Corbeau, obviously)
I am loosing my mind right now

Friends of the Show- Bitches on Comics Episode 124: Two questions, three answers featuring Danny Lore, Natasha Alterici, and Jay Edidin
Tumblr media
We talk to three comic creators to answer listener questions. Danny Lore (Lunar Room, Queen of Bad Dreams, James Bond) and Natasha Alterici (Heathen, Eat the Rich) discuss the best way to support queer and trans comic creators, getting into buying floppies, checking books out from the library, and much more. Jay Edidin (Captain America Infinity, X-Men: Marvels Snapshots) answers a listener question about transmasculine representation in comics and which comics he recommends.

hi, twitter refugees
here are some ways to get the most out of tumblr: think of the people you’re following not as the sources of content, but as its curators. relax your expectations regarding conversation structure. don’t follow back. lean into the weird: whether you can fuck the rock; why everyone who was here in 2016 will fight to the death over lizards. engage with teenagers rarely and judiciously. ask @seananmcguire for admission to the Birthday Unending. tag things for your future self. leave threads better than you find them.

i love when people put references in comics because it dates them so beautifully. in thirty years some podcast host (or whatever they have instead of podcasts thirty years from now) is going to explain to their audience, “so, pals at the table is a reference to friends at the table, which was a popular show where the people making the podcast played dungeons and dragons and recorded it, so the author is slipping their own nerdy interests in as miles’s interests to let all the readers who are in on the joke know that miles is a nerd.”

Note
my friend reread every fantastic four comic from the very beginning and i gotta say they treated sue storm like they treat meg on family guy. no idea how to write a girl so theyre just horrible to her instead
See: why I initially couldn't stand the invisible girl woman or watching fantastic 4 cartoons as a child.
