author's note: these scenarios are loosely inspired by each of the characters and their respective movies, as well as all of these can be read as platonic or romantic

Your chest heaves in slight panic, as you bring your knees towards you for at least some kind of protection

One moment, you're traveling with your parents to your new home and everything is going fine

And then the next, you're stopping and heading towards a tunnel that popped you out at an alley filled with lanterns and food stalls

Now, your parents are pigs and you feel hopelessly alone

It causes tears to prick the edges of your eyes, and you bury your face into your lap with a shaking head

This has to be a dream, this cannot be real

Maybe if you tried hard enough, you'd wake up in the car with your parents talking to one another while this was all just from a midday nap due to the exhaustion of moving

But you try to concentrate on waking up and nothing happens

You had already tried to cross back through the tunnel, but the high tide had blocked off the path

Just as you're about to allow them to stream down your face, the snap of a twig and the heavy rustle of bushes has you freezing and on high alert

Turning your head towards the intruder, you're about to let out a scream, but the young boy is two steps ahead of you and covers your mouth with his hand, effectively silencing you without a peep

He squats beside you and presses his side into yours, bringing his own finger to his mouth to signal for you to keep quiet

You're too paralyzed with fear to disobey and can only nod, as he seemingly pauses and waits for something to pass

After a moment, the stranger removes himself from you and digs around in his clothes before holding out a bun for you

When you turn away silently, not wanting to take food from a stranger like your parents had, the boy insists and places it into your hand

"Here, eat this. It'll keep you safe." He speaks for the first time, voice low before he pulls out his own and takes a bite

You hesitate, tears finally falling once more at how overwhelming everything is, and the bun is too warm and smells too comforting not to eat any

"Do you know your name?" The boy asks once he notices you slowly taking bites from the bread

"My, my name is Y/N," you manage to whisper with a sniffle

"I'm Ricky."

Clutching onto Gyuvin's waist, you keep your eyes screwed shut as you try not to think about how high up you are

While heights usually wouldn't be an issue for you, the turbulent lightening storm had really tested your limits

Burying your face into his back, you murmur for him to let you know when things have calmed and it's safe to look again

The boy just hums in acknowledged agreement, as he tries to fly you both to the agreed-upon location

He hoped that things would go smoother from now on, and the two of you would have no more issues on your way to Laputa

Some time passes by as Gyuvin navigates and you hold onto his back for dear life

"Y/N, I think we've arrived." He finally says, landing cautiously and tapping your shoulder lightly

Pulling away, you take in the sight of the lush fauna around you both with a hitched breath

Laputa was more beautiful than you could imagine despite how deserted it was, but then again, the place had been viewed as a myth and almost secret utopia

Gyuvin glances over at you with a grin, admiring how awestruck you were by everything

"C'mon, let's go check it out," the boy suggests while getting out of the plane, helping you as well

The green grass feels plush beneath his feet, and he can't help but be in disbelief himself

Taking his hand, you drag Gyuvin after you with a laugh that he immediately reciprocates

Neither of you could finally believe that you had made it and were finally here

All of the cat-and-mouse chasing with Goliath had finally been rewarded with the final destination of Laputa

You both hurry over to the edge, gazing down at the clouds and paths below

A friendly robot passes by, and both you and Gyuvin give it a tiny wave before glancing at one another and giggling quietly

Intertwining his hands with yours, the boy tugs you along the field, pulling you into him and his chest

You hit it with a tiny thud, but Gyuvin catches you and wraps his arms around your waist, protecting you while you two hit the ground with a laugh

He keeps his arm out for you to rest on, as you lay on your backs for a much needed break and watch the clouds role by

Park Gunwook was completely and utterly bored

Sure, he enjoyed spending time at his mother's house and visiting with his great aunt and housemaid, but there were only so many cheek pinches and wide smiles he could take before his face ached

He had nearly read every single book in the house, and it was getting to be just a bit too hot to stay in the meadow all-day

So here the boy was, dragging his feet and wandering aimlessly in search of something to pique his interest

It happens in a flash, but out of the corner of his eye, Gunwook thinks he's spotted something moving across the floorboard and near the vents

The boy pauses in his tracks, head tilting as he attempts to make out what he had seen without disturbing it

Creeping over slowly with light steps, Gunwook crouches down and gets to his hands and knees

He pokes his head around before he spots it; a small person holding a sugar cube and struggling to get the item back through the vent's grates

Out of all his years of living Park Gunwook has yet to see such a sight, but it seemed his boredom had disappeared in an instant as a wide grin spreads across his face

You try and use all your might to get both you and the sugar cube back to your home, but you feel as if you're being watched

Turning around quickly, the sight of the human boy has you scrambling and forgetting the cube in an instant

You don't have it in you to scream, but you're scurrying along towards the vent faster in order to not be caught

Clearly, you don't do too good of a job because the boy continues to get closer

"W-Wait, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you!" Gunwook says suddenly once he notices how terrified you seemed to be by your frantic movements

You manage to slip through just in time to avoid the huge hand coming your way, and hide in the shadows of the vent so he can't see you

Everything tells you to run back to your family, tell them what happened, and start packing your things to find another neighborhood house, but you're too tired and the adrenaline has made you fatigued

"I'm, I'm sorry, please come back..." Gunwook attempts with a frown, saddened at how quickly you ran away

Maybe his eagerness had gotten the best of him, but he truly just wanted a friend

You don't make it known that you're still around, but the sight of the sugar cube being slipped back in through the grates as you still

Waiting for footsteps, they don't come until about a minute has passed

Gunwook dejectedly begins to stand up and walk away before he sees you hesitantly peek through the grates with a small wave

han yujin | sosuke, “ponyo”

“Yujinnie!” You draw on, calling for the boy as you attempt to finish packing up the boat. "Hurry up or I'll leave without you!"

"I'm coming, I'm coming. Please don't leave without me!"

You glance up from securely fastening the picnic basket into place to see Yujin hurrying towards you; backpack flapping around, captain's hat on his head, and bangs falling into his eyes

"You know I was just joking," you say with a giggle, hoping in the boat and taking a seat

"I know... I just don't like making you wait." Yujin admits with slightly red-tipped ears, handing his things for you to take as he prepares the boat for departure

Once everything is all set, you and Yujin set off, the town flooded from the massive storm from the night before

Things are relatively peaceful though, as other people float around on their own boats while you wave and pass by

You allow Yujin to steer and take charge, opting to point out where to go instead, and the boy eagerly listens

"Yujin, look!" You point out, swaying the boat a bit in excitement

Jellyfish, turtles, and other various sea creatures swim below the surface and through the crystal-clear water

The both of you go on like that for a while, Yujin captaining and you just enjoying the sunny day

After a while, you two stop for the simple lunch of sandwiches and tea that you had prepared before chugging along once more

The chirp of the birds and woosh of the water eventually lulls you to sleep, as you fold your arms on the edge of the boat and rest your head silently

"Isn't it beautiful out, Y/N?" Yujin asks a few moments later, eyes round at the scenery around him. "Y/N?"

At the lack of response, the young boy turns his attention to your sleeping figure with a tiny tug at the corner of his lips

Suddenly, the boat slowly comes to a stop in the middle of the water

Yujin looks around puzzled before realizing the boat had run out of fuel

Throwing another glance at your unmoving figure, the boy takes off his captain's cap and gets into the water without hesitation

He begins swimming and pushing the light boat along to where you both had been planning on meeting his mother at the senior center

Although it may seem like a lot of work to do alone, he didn't want to wake you, he wanted to prove to you that he was reliable

And that he would do anything for you

His fingers slipped. The last thing he could see before air rushed past his ears was the blank horror on the boy’s sweet face. The airship hung above him, next to the moon, fire staining the sky. His shirt jittered in the wind, helpless like Harry himself.

He clasped his necklace.

The boy fell from the sky like a shining shooting star. He was the most beautiful thing Louis had ever seen.

I like to think venti would really love Disney and studio gibili movies, especially the princess movies, he be thinking of himself as a knight that saves the princess(the reader). Or the Disney faries? I mean faries and him both fly so there’s something in common. Just sit him down for a Disney movie marathon and by the end of one marathon he be singing all the Disney songs.

I love studio ghibli movies with all my heart I could talk about them for hours fr, I tried to think hard about what his favorite ghibli movie would be and I can't decide between Totoro for the fun whimsical aspects (the soot sprites are adorable and kind of remind me of how I think wind wisps would act, plus the big ass tree which houses an ancient god that has the ability to ride on wind *cough cough*) or Princess Monoke, which is obviously a completely different vibe but it's just a really strong message of humanity vs nature and gods (plus the forest spirits are absolutely adorable and also remind me of wind wisps)

Thinking on it further, it's kind of weird looking at some of the similarities between Khaenri'ah and Laputa from Castle in the Sky, both being incredibly technologically advanced human made cities that ended in ruin, not to mention had giant robots used as weapons that are consistently seen overgrown, you could probably make an interesting au with that

It's also mildly interesting how many ghibli movies reference the wind, like The Wind Rises (which I've heard Scara say about a million times now) and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

Anyway, since I could ramble on about this forever, moving on to Disney, which regrettably I didn't get as much into

I really don't know if he could ever truly see himself as the knight or prince who "slays the dragon", in game he pretty adamant about being the storyteller for those types of people, claiming to follow the traveler on their adventure because that's just what bards do, and his best friend's a dragon too lmao

He'd probably get into the genre anyway because they are similar types of heroic stories that he's familiar with, assuming we're talking about older classic Disney which contains a lot of those tropes, but it would be difficult for him to see himself in any of those characters because a lot of them are way more serious and less whimsical and free, he would probably relate more to the fairies and animals and occasional drunk tavern-going side character

(As cliche as it is to say, I think the most comparisons I can see is with Peter Pan, I mean green wearing childlike in behavior musically inclined hangs out with mythical creatures can fly and whole philosophy is living leisurely/freely? I couldn't not bring it up—)

And really he would totally learn all the songs that you like just in general, movie or otherwise, because he just has to be prepared to serenade you at any given moment of course, it's like a staple of his personality

But I think the best part we're overlooking is just movie marathon with Venti, laying together on a bed or couch covered in blankets with and unlimited supply of snacks while you get to watch his eyes just light up at the magic of animation, getting to rewatch all the movies you haven't touched in a handful of years yourself, a perfect evening

Agartha, in my au, is not a story of man vs woman.

Instead, it's a story of man vs beast. A war has broken out among 3 kingdoms on the surface of the Singularity's world, and the weak and sickly have found this underground paradise to escape to. Women, children, and the elderly are trying to establish a society in Agartha, but the strong magical beasts that live here constantly attack these people. These aren't beasts that Chaldea has seen before in previous Singularities, these are creatures that have long since been considered extinct or lost to the Age of Man, yet they exist in this world.

With Sieg, who is half-man, half-beast due to the blood of fafnir within his body, faces challenge after challenge. The people of Agartha are full of fear and tragedy, seeing a man who can turn himself into one of these monsters terrifies them.

The 3 kingdoms, dubbed the Jungle Kingdom, the Sea Kingdom, and the Darkened Kingdom are protected by 3 leading servants. The Jungle Kingdom is lead by Berserker [Penth], the Sea Kingdom lead by a Rider calling herself Dahut despite her appearance as Francis Drake, and the Darkened Kingdom is lead by Caster [Wu]. Though there exists a 4th, smaller established Kingdom that Sieg, Astolfo, and Fergus find called Shangri-La. Protected by a Rider servant claiming to have amnesia, wounded soldiers from the surface come here to heal. Then, there's the mysterious caped Caster that was seen with Wu. Even though Chaldea detected her as a servant, she does not fight.

Fergus, in the appearance as his younger self, does not know why he was summoned here, but learns through the people around Agartha that the kings on the surface betrayed their trust. He learns from Sieg and Astolfo that there's more to being a king than riches and royalty. Chevalier D'Eon, a guard that was seen summoned to the sea kingdom to protect it from the water serpents, joins the trio when the sea kingdom is flooded and destroyed. Helena is found along the way to the Darkened Kingdom, who joins in their mission to figure out this Singularity and where the Demon Pillar may lie. Though her sudden appearance in the group has the Rider of Shangri-La anxious, as if they had met before but the meeting turned south.

Then, there's Megalos. A servant who's only focus is to destroy the beasts that roam Agartha. However, he can only be active for 1 day and sleep for 3 days, due to the amount of magical energy he uses. He can only detect beasts, so Sieg becomes a huge target, constantly attracting him to their location because of how strong Sieg is as a dragon.

In the end, after all the servants are gone except the group and as a fake castle in the sky, Laputa formed, this turns out to be all a story; concocted by the same cloaked Caster seen before. The pain she suffered in her own story against a mad king for 1001 nights caused this Singularity to form as the demon pillar Phenex connected to her. The allegory of the beasts constantly attacking the people was similar to how she had to deal with a monster of a man for so long. She did not fight because she feared death. Scheherazade wanted to bring Laputa to life, to prove to the real world that magic was real and the need for Heroic Spirits were no more. If Heroic Spirits didn't exist then Goetia's 3000 year old plan could move forward, as by then, Chaldea would have no soldiers to fight.

Hand-wavey Castle in the Sky AU where Yoichi (Sheeta) is running from his megalomaniac brother who wants to find Laputa to rule the world (no surprise there), Third (Pazu) is determined to help the cute boy who fell from the sky & prove Laputa is real and Second (sky pirate) realizes the true treasure is the two scrappy guys he picked up along the way.

Yay Studio Ghibli AUs are always such fun!

1. Yoichi and AFO are two orphans, perhaps the last survivors descended from the Laputan royal line. Both of them grew up dreaming of finding the flying island of Laputa someday. But while Yoichi dreams of adventure, AFO wants to use the weapons system on Laputa to take over the world. AFO believes he's a rightful king and deserves to rule. He joins the military to obtain more power. After realizing his brother's intentions, Yoichi steals the crystal necklace that is the key to controlling Laputa and runs away. While fleeing AFO, Yoichi jumps off an airship. He passes out, but then the crystal activates and floats him down safely.

2. Third is an orphan working in a coal mine. His father used to tell him stories about the floating island, but the other kids mock his belief in legends. One day Third sees a pretty white-haired boy floating down from the sky and catches him.

3. After Yoichi tells him that Laputa is real, Third vows to help him find the city. AFO's soldiers track them down, but then get attacked by airship pirates led by Second. In the chaos, Yoichi loses his crystal.

4. Yoichi and Third stow away on the pirate ship to escape. Second finds them. Both boys are shocked to see the leader of the pirate gang is a boy their own age. At first Second seems hostile toward Yoichi as AFO's brother. Third stands up to protect Yoichi. After hearing about how Yoichi's brother imprisoned him, Second softens. After all, the pirates value freedom above all else and they have a soft spot for miners. Second's father once led a miners' strike, but AFO came and branded them all as criminals, forcing them to become pirates. The original leader of the gang, Second's father, was killed by AFO. Now Second is chasing after AFO for revenge and to end his tyranny.

5. AFO finds the crystal and uses it to navigate to Laputa. Yoichi is also able to remember the directions and guide the pirates to Laputa. Once on the island, AFO betrays the army and activates a weapons system to destroy them. Then he heads to the bottom of the castle, the epicenter of Laputa's ancient knowledge and weapons.

6. Horrified seeing the destruction Laputa has already unleashed on the army, Yoichi sees no choice but to destroy the island. Yoichi, Second, and Third sneak in and activate a self-destruct button. Then they fly away on a glider. AFO falls to a Disney death. Although most of the island collapses, the castle flies away to the stars.

7. Second actually tells Yoichi and Third that they are the real treasure he found along the way. It's sappy and they both still love it.

12. How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?

Oh boy, of projects I'm actively working/want to work on right now, that would include:

Vashwood: 2 (third installation of blackbird, a howls moving Castle au, technically there's another 2 but they're not high up on priority)

Smoace: 1 (canon au)

Kidlaw: 1 (Laputa au)

So technically about 4, and 5 if you include my unfinished satosugu fic on ao3 which I need to finish but have run a bit out of steam on... If we're also including meta posts then I have another meta post half finished in my drafts which I've been on and off thinking about, so maybe 6... The reality of me posting any of these though is slim unless I get a bunch of free time sometime soon haha.

27. What do you listen to while writing?

Depends on what I'm writing! Most of the time I write right before I fall asleep, so by then it's usually a shuffle of whatever music I'm listening too at the time. However, if I have time and I'm properly writing on my laptop I'll curate the music to fit the vibe, especially if it's something depressing I'm writing. I also really like taking inspiration from songs I'm listening too for fic writing so if there's a song I'm particularly rabid about in the moment then I will incorporate it into the writing and likely have it at the top of a short list of music I'd be listening too while writing that plays on a loop.

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

I guess actually putting out fics? It usually takes forever for me to write and I also really didn't expect to end up writing blackbird since originally I was gonna focus on writing a different fic, and then proceeded to write blackbird instead. And then to my surprise wrote a sequel to blackbird, and I've started on a third. So I didn't expect for that to be the biggest part of my year fic writing wise.

I also didn't really expect to write as much meta as I did and it be something welcomed by the fandom as well as it did! (Once while talking with others someone was like WAIT that's you who wrote those meta posts? They're so good! Which was extremely flattering, haha). I really wasn't expecting to get very involved in the fandom since I usually just lurk more than anything, so I quite enjoyed actually being involved for once.
