The tax treatment for employees regarding this fund involves several essential aspects:
Tax-Exempt Interest:  Interest credited during the financial year is tax-exempt, providing a significant benefit to employees. This tax exemption means that the growth of the provident fund remains untouched by taxation, ensuring that employees' savings can compound more effectively.
Tax-Exempt Withdrawals: When employees terminate their PF accounts, the withdrawal amounts are tax-exempt. This feature provides a substantial financial advantage to those who depend on their provident fund savings during retirement or for specific financial needs.
In conclusion, the GPF offers substantial tax benefits to both employers and employees, ensuring financial security for eligible individuals and institutions. Help Finnish classicists out! The University of Helsinki is planning on cutting all courses on classical archaeology. The University of Helsinki is currently the only university in Finland that provides any kind of education on the material culture of the ancient Mediterranean and losing this program would be a huge loss for the classics field here.
This is a bad decision considering the quality of research by Finnish scholars and the amount of outside funding our projects bring to the university. This is a short-sighted decision made by the dean of the faculty of arts. In the long run, this will be detrimental to Finnish scholarship in classics.
Symposion ry, the students' association for students of classical archaeology and classical philology at the University of Helsinki, currently has an open petition that will be presented to the dean. International attention and media coverage would be very, very helpful, so please consider signing! You can also leave a comment if you wish, but that is not mandatory. All comments will also be presented to the dean.
You can read the petition (and also sign it) in English, Finnish, and Swedish here:

We are living in a moment of serious gender revanchism in the United States. Feminists who self-define as “gender critical” and are otherwise openly transphobic will object to the comparison, but it is striking how much the movement to criminalize gender-affirming care for young people shares with the movement to criminalize abortion. Both find their fiercest champions in white, religious, conservative men who dismiss the evidence put forward by medical professionals that the treatment in question saves lives. Both claim to speak on behalf of silenced “children,” be they conveniently unborn or too young to be taken at their word. Both struggled to find widespread support until a father took his crusade on the road: abortion was not “an Evangelical issue” before Dr. Francis Schaeffer, a charismatic pastor, promoted his son Frank’s 1979 anti-abortion film Whatever Happened to the Human Race?; and anti-trans legislation was initially “hard to sell,” according to the Texas Tribune, until a North Texas dad named Jeff Younger built a sympathetic following online by accusing his ex-wife, a pediatrician, of wanting to “chemically castrate” their trans daughter. Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s order that citizens report parents of transgender kids to the authorities so that they can be investigated for child abuse echoes the section in SB 8 that rewards vigilante citizens for reporting abortion providers to authorities. Both movements have become central to the Republican Party’s strategy to raise funds and win elections. Not least, both movements have forced pregnant and trans people to prove, in preordained terms, their absolute certainty that they need the treatment they say they do. As the opposition puts up resistance in the form of misinformation, mandatory waiting periods, sonograms, and extensive psychological testing, patients lose precious time as hormonal processes they hope to forestall come closer and closer to transforming their bodies.
The experience of gender dysphoria is not identical to the experience of forced pregnancy, but it should not have to be for us to defend one another’s right to bodily autonomy as if it were our own. To respond to the heartbreak of losing Roe by further scapegoating trans people, as some cisgender feminists have done, is not only an unnecessary cruelty but a logical and political error that none of us can afford to make. There is no evidence to support the claim that inclusive language in reproductive health spaces “erases” or “harms” cis women, as Pamela Paul recently argued in the New York Times. (If anything, terms like pregnant people are more precise, as not all women are capable of pregnancy and not all pregnant people — e.g., cisgender girls under 18 — are women.) To say so anyway, with no basis in fact, is to do the far right’s work for them.

The new 'compost obligatoire' rules came into force on 1 January 2024. Here's what they entail.
As of 1 January 2024, organic waste recycling is mandatory in France under new 'compost obligatoire' rules.
With support from the government’s Green Fund, municipalities must provide residents with ways to sort bio-waste, which includes food scraps, vegetable peels, expired food and garden waste.
Households and businesses are required to dispose of organic matter either in a dedicated small bin for home collection or at a municipal collection point. Previously, only those who generated over five tonnes of organic waste per year were required to separate it.
The waste will then be turned into biogas or compost to replace chemical fertilisers. Alternatively, it can be composted at home.
The obligation is currently on local authorities to provide an easy means for households to compost or separate organic waste.
While facilities are rolled out, there will not be fines imposed for non-compliance. It is yet to be seen whether stricter rules will be imposed in future.
One-third of household waste is bio-waste
Organic waste from food and gardens accounts for almost one-third of household waste. When it is mixed with other rubbish, it typically ends up in landfills or incinerators, where it produces heat-trapping greenhouse gases like methane and CO2.
Food waste is responsible for about 16 per cent of the total emissions from the EU food system, according to the European Commission. Globally, food loss and waste generates around 8 per cent of all human-caused emissions annually, the UN says.
It can also contaminate packaging destined for recycling like paper, plastic and glass.
In 2018, only 34 per cent of the EU’s total bio-waste was collected, leaving 40 million tonnes of potential soil nutrients to be discarded, according to NGO Zero Waste Europe.
In France, an estimated 82 kg of compostable waste per person is thrown away each year.
Is bio-waste separation mandatory in other European countries?
Under the EU’s Waste Framework Directive, bio-waste collection is being encouraged this year, but it stops short of setting mandatory targets.
In many European countries, organic waste separation has already been implemented at the municipal level.
Milan in Italy has been running a residential food waste collection programme since 2014. Households were given dedicated bins and compostable bags to kick off the scheme.
Elsewhere, taxes or bans on incinerating bio-waste have encouraged similar schemes, with separate bins and home composting widespread in Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium.
The UK announced plans to roll out separate food waste collection in 2023. It remains voluntary for households in England, but is more strictly enforced in Wales and for business owners.
How to sort your bio-waste
Ideally, all waste - including organic matter - should be kept to a minimum.
This can be achieved through careful meal planning. Consuming, freezing or preserving food before it expires along with using every part of an ingredient also help to reduce waste. Some food waste can even be repurposed into animal feed.
Any food waste that cannot be saved or repurposed should be either composted or separated for collection. This includes uneaten food scraps, baked goods, dairy products, eggshells, fruit and vegetables and their peels, mouldy food, pet food, raw and cooked meat and fish, bones, tea and coffee grounds.
Liquids, non-food products and packaging should not be placed in bio-waste bins.

Instead of forcing women to go through extreme physical, psychological, hormonal, societal & economical changes against their will, start …
1.) holding men accountable for causing unwanted pregnancies.
2.) creating a better society which doesn’t systematically disadvantage and harm pregnant women & mothers.
3.) creating a society in which pregnant women‘s & mothers financial independence, careers and freedom aren’t limited.
4.) improving the medical system and the knowledge of women‘s anatomy & specific medical needs so every woman has access to the best treatment possible.
5.) eliminating medical abuse and medical neglect.
6.) funding EVERY treatment/support a pregnant woman and mother might need or want to feel as good & healthy as possible (recovery MUST be a priority).
7.) challenging societal expectations and judgement regarding pregnancy, mothers and motherhood.
8.) providing actually informative and female-centered sex ED.
9.) providing free & accessible birth control.
10.) and if you‘re really THAT ignorant and "pro-life", start making vasectomies mandatory.

Dreamling for Ukraine fundraiser
Dear fellow Dreamers, as the war in Ukraine rages on, events have reached another horrifying zenith with the destruction of Kakhovka Dam, causing a chain reaction of disaster.
Today we are coming together as a fandom in a collective effort to raise donations for the victims in need.
How it works:
In order to raise funds, creators of the fandom will offer their services under #DreamlingforUkraine in exchange for donations.
Every participating creator will create a list of what they offer, their prices, number of slots and expected turnaround times. You will then be able to approach your chosen creator and commission a piece of fanwork by donating to a charity that provides aid to the victims.
See our list of recommended charities HERE.
How to participate as a creator:
Sign-ups are open until July 17th 2023! To enter the charity drive and offer your services you will be required to make your own event post and submit it to the tag #DreamlingforUkraine.
You may use our template to set up your post. Set your prices at your own discretion, any agreement will be between you and the donor.
Tag our event blog @dreamlingforukraine to make sure we can add you to the creators masterlist.
There is no deadline for accepting donations or posting your works. We recommend keeping your slots open until at least July 7th 2023 or until you’ve reached your cap. Please remember that you will be expected to finish everything you have agreed to make, so be sure not to take on more slots than you can fill! You may set a minimum donation amount or word limit and include things you are and aren't willing to write/draw/make.
You are invited to share how much money you have raised with the team of @dreamlingforukraine by sending us an ask so that we can keep track of how much we’ve raised. This is not mandatory and all numbers will be added together and published strictly anonymously.
Dreamling for Ukraine is open to all kinds of media, even if you don’t write or draw you may offer things like moodboards, gifsets, fanvids, podfic or playlist. We also accept diy submissions such as cosplay, crocheting/knitting, cooking/baking and anything else. We also have a collection on ao3 for the event.
IMPORTANT! When you submit your works to the Dreamling for Ukraine collection on AO3 DO NOT mention that you made it in return for monetary compensation (this includes donations even if they are for charity) you can thank your donor for their support or use other vague wording that does not mention money if you want to.
How to participate as a donor:
Keep an eye on the tag #DreamlingforUkraine or refer to our growing masterlist of participants.
Choose a charity of your liking and then approach the creator of your choice.
It will be between you and the creator to agree on a type of commission and a price.
Please do not donate before you have negotiated all terms with your creator and have their go. Your donations will be non-refundable.
PLEASE NOTE: The event team and event blog are here to boost attention for the charity drive and its participants. We do not take any responsibility for the fulfillment of your commissions or on behalf of the charities you donate to. If there are any problems please contact the creator or charity directly.

LongDistance!Series:
Part One: Melina - Manny x Reader - Manny's daughter wants to meet you.
Tumblr media
Manny knows he’s long overdue for a conversation with Hank Loza.
This thing between the two of you turned serious back in LA and that was over four months ago. He needs to sit down and be straight with the other man because they’re going to be working together and he doesn’t want any bad blood between the two of them.
The deal that Manny’s spent months putting in place is finally signed and sealed, the future of his club secured.
Rose Kush is looking to expand, the need for its product has grown exponentially over the past six months and projected growth is astronomical.
Yuma has the sunshine for high quality product, but it requires a lot of care, something Lila can’t provide now that she’s pregnant. The club has the land for a large-scale farm with the potential for a successful yield, they’re willing to provide the services if Lila provides the training and the licences. It’s the first of a series of legitimate long-term investments Manny’s made on behalf of the club.
He's been upfront with Bishop about their cashflow problem. After Canche had met his end at the hands of a drunk driver, they’d noticed a significant discrepancy between their books and the cash on hand. Downer had spent weeks chasing down the money only to discover that their president had been subsidising his lifestyle with club funds. It caused problems in more ways than one because they were still paying protection for some of their brothers in prison.
If the money ran out…
It didn’t bear thinking about because most of those guys had families and were doing a stretch due to shit that Canche signed them up to. The club provided for them, supported them when they didn’t have an income, Canche had jeopardised all of that with his selfishness.
Between them Bishop and Manny had managed to come up with a solution. The Santo Padre charter were stretched pretty thin running security for Rose Kush up and down the country, they needed the help, help that Yuma could provide in terms of manpower and skill set. Most of Manny’s guys were ex-military and old habits die hard.
Bishop had also told him about the underground network that helped immigrants who were coming over the wall to escape the violence, settle in the US. They needed more bodies to man some of the safehouses and to help get people where they needed to be. The job paid well but there was an increased risk.
“I won’t make it mandatory.” Manny had told Bishop. “They can take the role if they want to, but it has to be their decision.”
“That’s the way I work with my guys.” Bishop informs him. “Some of them have families now, I can’t put them in that position, it has to be their choice.”
“It seems like we’re on the same page.” Manny had said before shaking Bishop’s hand.
It’s after that meeting that Manny sits down at Hank’s table with a cup of coffee. The other man is reading a newspaper, his reading glasses perched on his nose as he studies the article in front of him.
“I hear you’re expecting.” Manny says with a small smile, his thumb chasing up along the side of his mug. “How far along is Maggie?”
Hank sets the newspaper down before taking off his glasses and placing them on top of it.
“Three months.” Hank tells him as he takes out his wallet, removing a picture and handing it to Manny. “We had our first sonogram yesterday.”
Manny finds himself smiling as he looks down at the tiny jellybean shaped baby. He recalls the day he saw his own daughter’s sonogram; how real it all became. He had never loved anything as much as he did in that moment.
“I remember when I saw Melina for the first time, it was crazy.” Manny tells the other man before he hands the picture back. “I was imagining walking her down the aisle, like I was thinking that far ahead, and she hadn’t even been born yet.”
“I have all sorts of dreams for this little one.” Hank says, his thumb chasing over the image. “My other two are just excited to have another sibling.”
“One was enough for me.” Manny says with a chuckle. “I couldn’t do with another baby genius, we’re still trying to figure out how to pay for science camp, I don’t know where she gets it from because it certainly isn’t me.”
“Must be her mother.” Hank says tucking the sonogram back into his wallet.
Manny clears his throat before he leans forward, his elbows coming to rest upon the table.
“I need to talk to you about something and it’s kind of awkward.” Manny bites his lower lip before he meets Hank’s gaze. “I’m seeing Sara. It’s getting serious and I didn’t want you to hear it over the grapevine, I wanted to be respectful and come to you man to man.”
“You don’t need to do that.” Hank tells him, shrugging his shoulders. “Me and Sara were over a long time ago. She was a stepping stone to the place where I was meant to be, which is here with an amazing wife and soon to be three beautiful kids. Me and you…” Hank gestures between the two of them. “…we don’t have beef over this. If you make each other happy, that’s the best that anyone can hope for, and I don’t begrudge that.”
Manny’s fingers rap out a pattern on the surface of the table before he opens his mouth to speak.
“When I took over the club after Canche was killed, we were in a bad way. I’m not just talking about the money situation; morale was low, and we were in a fucked up place. I had to carry all of that. I had to be strong for my club and to do that I had to shut down every other part of me so I could focus on getting us through a really dark time.”
Manny shakes his head, his lips pursed together grimly. He doesn’t recognise the man he became back then, the one that had to fight for his club because Canche had disgraced them, and Ramos had a fucking boot on the back of his neck from debts that were owed.
“The problem is when you do something like that, you can’t just let it go. You become that person and it eats you up inside. There’s no joy, no light, there’s just this weight and you have to carry it day after day.”
When he looks to Hank, he knows the other man understands what he’s saying.  Yuma’s not the only club that’s been through hell, he remembers the days of the Galindo cartel, the brutality of it.
“When I met Sara, it felt like I could breathe again. All the parts of me that shut down, they started coming back to life.” He trails off, because he just can’t find the words to explain it. “She saved me, and she will never know that.”
Hank bows his head because he knows what it’s like to live in that darkness, to have someone reach in and pull you out without them even realising that they’re rescuing you.
“I’m happy you’ve found that.” Hank tells Manny as he meets his gaze. “I’m glad that you’ve found someone who makes you happy.”
Love Manny? Don’t miss any of his stories by joining the taglist here.

Education
Education in Germany is free and compulsory between ages six and sixteen. States (Länder) are largely responsible for education, with the federal government playing a minor role.
Types of schools
The vast majority of children attend state schools, but there are private schools (Ersatzschulen) as well. The latter have very low tuition fees and are also subsidized by the state, which effectively makes them privately-run schools funded by the state. Some are run by religious groups.
School terms
The school year is divided into two terms (from August to January and from February to July) and starts after the summer break, which differs from state to state but usually finishes in mid/end-August. Children have twelve weeks of vacation in addition to public holidays. Exact dates differ between states, but there are generally six weeks of summer vacation, two around Christmas, two around Easter, and two in the fall during the harvest season, since farmers used to need their children for field work.
Tumblr media
Grades
The German grading system is as follows, from highest to lowest: sehr gut (1.0–1.5), gut (1.6–2.5), befriedigend (2.6–3.5), ausreichend (3.6–4.0), and nicht bestanden (4.1–5.0). The minimum to pass is four.
Tumblr media
Levels
Tumblr media
Preschool (Kindergarten)
Preschool education is neither mandatory nor free. Children between the ages of 2 and 6 attend Kindertagesstätte (Kita, “children’s daycare centers”). Many Kitas follow a certain educational approach, such as Montessori or Reggio Emilia.
Primary education (Primarstufe)
Primary education takes place in Grundschulen and generally lasts four years, from 6 to 10 years old. In Berlin and Brandenburg, it lasts six years.
Students are typically taught art, a foreign language (English or French), general studies (natural and social science), German, math, music, physical education, and religion or ethics.
Secondary education (Sekundarstufe)
Secondary education can take place in any of the following schools:
Gymnasium (grammar school) until grade 12 or 13 (ages 10–11 to 17–18/18–19), with Abitur as exit exam to qualify for university
Realschule (intermediate school) until grade 10 (ages 10–11 to 15–16), with Realschulabschluss
Hauptschule (secondary general school) until grade 9 or 10 (ages 10–11 to 14–15/15–16), with Hauptschulabschluss
Gesamtschule (comprehensive school) until grade 10 or 12/13 (ages 10–11 to 15–16 or 17–18/18–19)
The Gymnasium provides in-depth general education for university studies. Hauptschulen teach basic general education leading to vocational school or university entrance qualification. Realschule offers more extensive education than Hauptschule, leading to a vocational or university entrance qualification. A Gesamtschule combines all the aforementioned schools.
There are about twelve compulsory subjects in every grade: biology, chemistry, civics/social/political studies, up to three foreign languages, geography, German, history, math, music, physical education, physics, religion/ethics, and visual arts.
Tumblr media
(F3 means Fremdsprache 3 [third foreign language], which is usually French or Spanish)
In grades 11–12/13, each student majors in two or three subjects (Leistungskurse), in which there are usually five lessons per week. The other subjects (Grundkurse) are usually taught three times a week.
Vocational training (Berufsbildung)
Vocational training lasts between two and three and a half years and can take place in any of the following types of school:
Berufsschule (vocational school): the standard type of vocational school, it prepares students for further vocational education or for a job in a profession. Apprentices attend school twice a week and spend the rest of the week working at a company, so they gain knowledge of theory and practice.
Berufsfachschule: similar to Berufsschule, it is aimed at people who want to study specific subjects, such as nursing or occupational therapy.
Fachoberschule (vocational high school): students who have obtained a Realschulabschluss or Hauptschulabschluss can attend a Fachoberschule, where they will specialize themselves in technology, economy, or administration and management, among other subjects. After completing the program, they can study for a university degree after passing the Abitur.
Berufsoberschule (upper vocational school): those who want to attend one need to have graduated from a Berufsschule. It provides in-depth education and training.
Higher education (Tertiärbereich)
To attend university, students need to pass the Abitur exams, of which at least one is oral. They are tested on four or five subjects, including their two or three Leistungskurse and two or three Grundkurse (German, math, and the first foreign language). All knowledge areas must be covered, including language, literature and the arts; social sciences; math, natural sciences and technology, and sports. Each semester of a subject studied in the final two years of Gymnasium yields up to fifteen points, where advanced courses may count double and final examinations count quadruple.
There are 380 universities in Germany, of which 114 are private. Public universities charge fees of around €150–350 per semester, which often include the cost of public transportation. Tertiary education institutions are classified into Universität or Hochschule. The former term is reserved for those which have the right to confer doctorates, in a similar distinction to universities and colleges in the United States. Fachhochschulen (Universities of Applied Sciences) are a type of Hochschule that concentrates on applied science and has a more practical profile with a focus on employability.
There are three types of admissions procedures for degree programs:
Free admissions: every applicant who fulfills the requirements is admitted. This is usually the case in programs in which many students quit, such as engineering, mathematics, or physics.
Local admission restrictions: only a limited number of places are available and students are admitting according to numerus clausus, whose criteria vary depending on the institution and the program but generally include the final grade of the Abitur, a weighted grade average that increases the weight of relevant school subjects, interviews, motivation letters, and/or letters of recommendation.
Nationwide admission restrictions: to study dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, or veterinary medicine, there is a nationwide numerus clausus in which applications are handled centrally for all universities.
There are three official university degrees: Bachelor (bachelor’s degree) takes three years to complete, Master (master’s degree) lasts two years, and Doktorat (doctoral degree or PhD) takes between two and five years.
Students can usually choose freely from all courses offered by the university, but all bachelor’s degree programs require a number of particular compulsory courses in the field of the study program.

“Innovation” has become a curseword, thanks to…innovation. Some of the world’s most imaginative, best-funded sociopaths have spent decades innovating ways to fuck you over. While the whole tech sector likes to get in on this game, no one “innovates” like inkjet printer companies.
Printer companies are true fuckery pioneers: the tactical innovations they’ve developed in the war on their customers would make Otto von Bismarck blush.
Selling printers with half-empty ink-cartridges:
https://www.thestar.com/business/personal_finance/spending_saving/2012/08/19/new_printers_may_not_have_full_tank_of_ink.html
Requiring useless, mandatory “calibration tests” that use up all your ink:
https://www.consumerreports.org/printers/the-high-cost-of-wasted-printer-ink/
Or just having printers reject partially full cartridges as empty.
When you’re at war with your customers, you have to anticipate that your rivals will join your customers’ side — not because other businesses are paragons of consumer protection, but because it’s profitable. So printer companies tried to use copyright to block ink refillers:
https://www.eff.org/cases/lexmark-v-static-control-case-archive
Then patent law:
https://www.eff.org/cases/impression-products-inc-v-lexmark-international-inc
When that got stale, they figured out how to put DRM in paper, too:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2022/02/worst-timeline-printer-company-putting-drm-paper-now
If we could harness the creative energy put into turning printer users into ink-stained wretches, we could end the world’s reliance on Russian gas in an instant:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2020/11/ink-stained-wretches-battle-soul-digital-freedom-taking-place-inside-your-printer
Here’s a good one! Epson will brick your printer after you’ve run a certain number of pages, “for your own good.”
https://twitter.com/marktavern/status/1550605262700122112
How does that work? Well, Epson says that it designs its printers with little internal sponges that soak up excess ink and when they become saturated, that ink might run out of the bottom of your printer and stain your furniture.
https://epson.com/Support/wa00369
If this sounds like bullshit to you, that’s because it’s bullshit, as are the claims that excess ink could get into the printer’s electronic circuits and start a fire:
https://fighttorepair.substack.com/p/citing-danger-of-ink-spills-epson
If your printer’s sponges get too full of excess ink and you’re worried about it, you can easily and cheaply install new sponges:
https://youtu.be/EocI_8awj38?t=112
But that would deny Epson a new printer sale, and divert your perfectly good printer from joining the mountains of e-waste that are poisoning the global south, and we couldn’t have that.
https://pluralistic.net/2021/05/26/nixing-the-fix/#r2r
So they’ve rigged their printers’ software so that even if you replace the sponges, the printer can still refuse to print. Replacing or resetting this software requires that you bypass the DRM designed to prevent this, and providing a DRM-defeat tool is a felony punishable by a 5-year sentence and a $500k fine under Section 1201 of the DMCA.
But maybe this is a violation of consumer protection laws. Aaron Perzanowski thinks so, and he’s a law professor. If the FTC were to go after Epson on this, they would be genuine American heroes, celebrated as true guardians of the public interest.
Previously, the FTC resolved this kind of self-bricking fraud by ordering companies to disclose the practice at the time of purchase. This is not good enough.
https://www.perzanow.ski/blog/2016/7/14/ftcs-revolv-investigation
A real remedy — one that would prevent this conduct in future — would be a ban on self-bricking devices altogether, along with immunity from civil and criminal liability for companies and individuals who design defeat devices to un-brick illegally bricked gadgets, under patent, copyright, contract, and all other legal theories.

╰┈─✩ ˚ ‧ christmas time is here !! ‧ ˚
✧˖° synopsis : what gets these jjk character’s into the christmas spirit ??
✧˖° cast and crew : megumi fushiguro, yuji itadori, nobara kugisaki
.ᐟ content warnings : fluffy nonsense, a tiny manga spoiler (tsumiki), one mention of gojo, not proofread (sorry not sorry <3)
⤑ .𖥔 ݁ ˖ authors note : this is my christmas gift to the masses !!! i love yall, mwah mwah
megumi <3 : hot chocolate !!
Tumblr media
megumi doesn’t really care for christmas (or really any holiday for that matter.) it’s not because he hates it or anything. but he’s just kinda… y’know? he’s just very indifferent about it, and it’s really because:
a.) he’s never really had anyone to celebrate with.
sure, he has gojo and they get each other presents, but it’s moreso just a one and done deal. gojo is usually out doing…whatever so there’s not really much time for more than a quick “merry christmas, here’s your gift, i love you”
(the “i love you” is def more on gojo’s end but he nods in reciprocation)
b.) he doesn’t find much exciting about it.
he used to celebrate with tsumiki but… that stopped a long while ago due to unforeseen circumstances.
however, no matter how indifferent and blasé he may feel about the holidays. megumi fushiguro cannot (and will not.) deny a nice, warm, cup of hot cocoa ! he just can’t do it.
plus, now that he actually has people to celebrate the holidays with when gojo isn’t around, maybe there’s something to look forward to after all.
yuji <3 : christmas movies (hallmark and all)
Tumblr media
this mf LOVESSSSS christmas i tell you. and i mean, LOVESSSSSS the shit. there is no bigger fan than yuji itadori i can assure you that. so, what better way is there to get in the christmas spirit than with a christmas movie???
he loves the real cheesy tropey ones where the mc has to find “the true meaning of christmas” he can’t get enough of it !! mf eats that shit up every. single. time. without fail.
what can he say??? there’s nothing more christmas than…well… a christmas movie? bro is lwk a movie buff so he’s more than likely seen every single christmas movie at least twice. every day of december, he gets megumi and nobara to sit down and watch the movies with him and they have so much fun :(
- yuji provides the movies (of course.) it’s usually a hallmark movie cause he swears they’re a staple of the holidays. they’re never good though, (cause it’s hallmark.) but he thinks they’re classics nonetheless
- nobara provides the blankets and pillows for maximum warmth and comfort. (she even sets up her laptop and has like, a stock video of a fire place for ambiance.)
- megumi provides the snacks and drinks !!! both nobara and yuji can agree that megumi makes the best hot chocolate. (“there’s a science to it” as megumi often says.) and, he gets all their fave snacks as well.
they all have a shit ton of fun, more memories for yuji to cherish <3
nobara <3 : christmas sweaterssss (and accessories)
Tumblr media
despite being the fashionable fashionista she is, nobara loves an ugly christmas sweater. NOTHING BEATS IT LIKEEE ??? idk, it’s just such a christmasy thing?? y’know?? it’s almost mandatory to have one.
her first christmas with megumi and yuji, she got them all matching christmas sweaters for yuji’s “12 days of movies” marathon (it exceeded past 12 days but whatever.)
and when i tell you miss ma’am went SHOPPING??? oh girl she went SHOPPING SHOPPING. blankets, pillows, sweaters, headbands, etc. (and gojo happily funded her excursion too.)
just something about christmas makes her all giddy and excited, she needs to have every piece of clothing imaginable. and for every day of the movie night she brings a new sweater and headband for them to wear so they can embody the christmas spirit !!!
she gets those reallll big and fluffy blankets too so you know it’s all cozy and shit. by the end of the movie they’re all passed tf outttttt, they be waking up with those lines on their faces and everythinggg. them naps had them wondering what day and time it was 😭
she gets them all ugly sweaters for the true christmas feel, and she take a picture of all of them all decked out in their christmas-wear.
there’s never really a moment where nobara would willingly be caught ugly in something like that, but she makes ONE exception to cherish the memories.

Austerity has been biting since 2010, when George Osborne slashed the amount of money councils could receive from central government in one of his first acts as chancellor. Between 2010 and 2020, they lost more than 50% of their government grants in real terms. Six councils have already gone ‘bankrupt’ in the last two years while more than half of the rest say they could follow, meaning they could be taken over by Whitehall or replaced by new authorities.
[...]
Councils are responsible for 800 different services, including meeting Britain’s soaring demand for social care. They also run schools, public health, housing, planning and licensing. “Everyone thinks that councils [just] collect the bins and fix the roads,” said Revans. “We do so, so much more.” Most council services are mandatory, meaning they must legally be delivered. But others – including leisure centres, pest control, museums, and youth clubs – are discretionary, meaning councils can choose whether to offer them or not.
[...]
When David Cameron and Nick Clegg formed the coalition government in 2010, they declared that: “The time has come to disperse power more widely in Britain today.” A year later, the Localism Act became law, giving councils “the legal capacity to do anything that an individual can do”. In practice, that meant not a lot, because councils continue to be fiscally dependent on Westminster. London, for example, relies on strings-attached central government grants for 68.8% of its funding. New York, by comparison, only depends on central government for 26% of its budget, and Paris just 16.3%. Councils can also generate revenue from council tax and business rates, an equivalent tax on business premises. But the Localism Act prevents councils from raising council tax annually above a cap – which is currently 5% – set by the government.  Austerity, then, has seemingly overridden any attempt at decentralisation. Fourteen years ago, your council could do a lot more for you, especially if you were in a tight spot. But year after year, it has pared back what it offers to the point that some campaigners fear residents expect less in the first place.

john was absolutely vaccinating those kids, hashtag sorry. 1.) back then the anti-vaxx movement was not popular or accepted. it was mostly very extremist groups that were anti-vaxxers. and most of them homeschooled their children because 2.) vaccinations were mandatory (pretty sure they still are in most places) to attend school.
additionally i recently learned about the Vaccine for Children Program (developed in 1994), which is "a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of inability to pay."
so they would've been able to get vaccinated at their school for free.
then there's the arguments that john would've just forged papers saying they got vaccinated. why?? if john is so neglectful / lazy / uncaring why would he do something that would require significantly more effort than just, letting them get vaccinated?
a common response might be: he's a paranoid conspiracy theorist / distrustful of doctors. but even in these scenarios, john's characterization of fear, paranoia, and distrust is for completely different reasons. john is paranoid and fearful of the world around him, because of the supernatural. one could draw a parallel between john and his isolationism mentality to other extremist groups, but in the parallel, the thing john is fearful of is not big pharma / modern medicine and other issues real world groups are concerned with. he's afraid of literal monsters and demons.
then there's: john distrusts doctors. you often see john have a "no hospitals" rule in fanworks. but this isn't rooted in a fear of medicine. his no hospitals stance is usually in reference to injuries. to avoid suspicion over supernatural or abuse related injuries. if anything, not getting your kids vaccinated would arise suspicion. he'd be safer playing things by the book and doing as much as he can to look "good" so no one starts poking around and looking too closely at their family.
at MOST i can see john being a bit delayed on their vaccine schedule. i feel like he'd be completely clueless about when they need their vaccines and which ones they need. i know far too many fathers who have never taken their children to a pediatrician appointment or know anything abt their child's health history because that's always been the mom's responsibility. so i can see him being utterly lost about all that after mary dies. he doesn't know which vaccines they've already had. he's busy being consumed by grief and his desire for revenge to really think about things like vaccines. eventually tho, once they're school aged, he'd have to figure it out.
anyways, yes this isn't that deep but, there are so many things to actually criticize john about. but not getting them vaccinated just doesn't make sense to me, and none of the arguments for john not vaccinating them hold much weight for me. john can still totally suck and they can still be vaccinated lol

Uber and Lyft agreed Thursday to pay a combined $328 million for withholding money from drivers.
Uber agreed to pay $290 million and Lyft $38 million in what New York Attorney General Letitia James called the largest wage-theft settlement her office has ever secured.
The money will be distributed to cheated drivers who will get back pay along with mandatory paid sick leave and other benefits. Eligible drivers can file a claim to receive the money owed.
The "historic" agreement "builds on the benefits and protections that drivers already enjoy through the state’s Black Car Fund," Lyft said in a statement. The agreement amounted to a "win" for drivers, Jeremy Bird, the company's chief policy officer, said.
"We look forward to continuing this work in order to provide New York drivers the independence and full range of benefits available to those in other states, like California and Washington,” Bird said in a statement.
The "landmark, first-of-its-kind agreement" will bring Uber closer to its goal of allowing drivers to choose "flexibility" in their work without giving up protections, the company said in a statement.
"For years, we have advocated to change the status quo to allow those who choose platform work to have both the ability to work when, where and how often they want, as well as receive important benefits," Uber said.
Today, Uber reached a with New York Attorney General Letitia James, that gets us closer to achieving that goal.
From 2014 to 2017, Uber deducted sales taxes and Black Car Fund fees from drivers' payments when those taxes and fees should have been paid by passengers, the attorney general's office said.
Uber misrepresented the deductions made to drivers' pay in their terms of service, telling drivers that Uber would only deduct its commission from the drivers' fare, and that drivers were "entitled to charge [the passenger] for any tolls, taxes or fees incurred," though no method to do this was ever provided via the Uber Driver app.
Lyft used a similar method to shortchange drivers from 2015 to 2017, deducting an 11.4% "administrative charge" from drivers' payments in New York equal to the amount of sales tax and Black Car Fund fees that should have been paid by riders.
Uber and Lyft also failed to provide drivers with paid sick leave available to employees under New York City and New York State law.
"For years, Uber and Lyft systemically cheated their drivers out of hundreds of millions of dollars in pay and benefits while they worked long hours in challenging conditions," James said in a statement. "These drivers overwhelmingly come from immigrant communities and rely on these jobs to provide for their families. This settlement will ensure they finally get what they have rightfully earned and are owed under the law."
In addition to paying a total of $328 million in back pay to former drivers, Uber and Lyft agreed to an "earnings floor," guaranteeing drivers across the state are paid a minimum rate. Drivers outside of New York City will receive a minimum of $26 per hour. Drivers operating in New York City already receive minimum driver pay under regulations established by the Taxi & Limousine Commission in 2019.
Uber and Lyft drivers will now also receive guaranteed paid sick leave. Drivers will earn one hour of sick pay for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 56 hours per year.

US Republicans talk about eradicating trans people. What does it mean?
Tumblr media
Brynn Tannehill has published a very important thread on the Republican transphobia over at twitter, and I am taking the liberty of republishing it below.
It is a dark thread, but given the current situation it is important that trans people, their allies and other compassionate and fair people understand what is at stake.
Democracy is at stake. Justice is at stake. Freedom is at stake.
The Republican Party is no longer pretending to be nice
Tannehill has been warning about the Republican descent into right wing extremism for several years now. She has written about this in her book  American Fascism: How the GOP is Subverting Democracy.
[For non-US readers: The GOP refers to the Republican Party.]
The recent developments in states like Texas and Florida have proven her right. The savage legislative attacks against trans people in red states is telling us that this is a party that is willing to do anything to turn America into a right wing totalitarian society based on religious fundamentalism, male supremacy and traditional gender roles.
The “culture war” against trans people is simply a way of making the unthinkable thinkable. By gradually increasing the volume from “trans women in sports is unfair” via “trans women are bath room predators” to “ transgenderism has to be eradicated”, they are trying to get the majority acclimated to brutal state driven oppression and violence.
Whether they succeed or not depends on to what extent all good people get engaged. They should know that the anti-trans policies are just the first step. Everyone will lose in this game.
Here’s what Brynn Tannehill has to say
//There's been some discussion of what it means to eradicate trans people, and if this is even genocide.
I want people to understand what this means in practice, based purely on what's being proposed today by Republicans, and what it means for trans people.
Let's start with the kids. Teachers and other mandatory reporters cannot even mention trans people.
They are, however, required to report any child suspected of being trans to their parents, and to the government to be put on some sort of list.
No health support for trans kids and youth
Youth are not only banned from receiving transition related care as teens, they are forbidden from socially transitioning by many of these laws. Only conversion therapy is permissible.
Teachers and schools are forbidden from using their names or letting them use bathrooms.
Florida is making it legal to kidnap children and bring them to the state for conversion therapy. They're also telling the courts to take away any children who MIGHT be trans and be "at risk" of receiving affirmation of any  some sort.
Even turning 18 is of marginal value. States like Texas are starting to put together lists of transgender college students for unknown purposes. One goal of institutional capture of all state funded institutions of higher learning  is to drive out trans folks and allies.
States are forbidding insurance companies that provide transition related coverage ANYWHERE in the US from doing business with any state entity (TN). They're making sure that college students lose access to transition related care.
They're also targeting doctors & clinics.
Laws extending liability out to 30 years or infinity is meant to make doctors, hospitals, and clinics refuse to treat anyone for gender dysphoria because they cannot get insurance for it.
Florida is simply threatening to revoke the medical licenses of providers.
Similar laws targeting insurance plans offered by businesses are intended to cause companies to drop coverage of transition related care, and to get insurance companies to stop offering inclusive plans.
Given what the GOP is doing with Mifepistrone [a pregnancy termination medication], they will follow up with blocking access to HRT [hormone replacement therapy] via the courts nationally.
The result is that the only possible way to receive care is out of pocket via overseas sources.
Social transition become hard or impossible
But it gets way worse from here.
The drag bans being put in place are meant to effectively prevent even social transition. Similarly, the bathroom bans, and particularly those that put trans people on sex offender lists, are meant to ensure trans people rarely leave their homes, and even then not for long.
We are witnessing the revival of Comstock laws to prevent the flow of information about abortion or abortifacients. We're also seeing rumblings that the GOP intends to do the same with information about being transgender, or receiving treatment elsewhere.
Social contagion
Preventing "social contagion", of course.
One line of argument being offered by Knowles [who has called for the eradication of “transgenderism”] is that trans people are a non-cognizable group, which puts trans people somewhere below rational basis scrutiny.
They want to reach a legal standard where "public health" vs. no one always ends up with the courts saying that any government action is justified. IOW: zero protections from the courts.
This is where camps...err... "getting them the help they need"... become possible.
Revoking IDs
The de-recognition of trans people as a class means revoking the IDs of anyone who has already transitioned. You either turn in your old one and get back something that marks you as trans (so it's easier to arrest you later for using the loo), or you don't have a valid ID.
This isn't paranoia, the Trump administration was proposing de-recognition back in 2018 and about a dozen states have filed bills to do so. This action makes it much harder for trans people to "blend in" and try to escape notice by pretending to be cis.
Forcing trans people back into the closet
In the end, the goal of the GOP is to eradicate any trans people from being visible in public life in any way. For trans people that means one of the following coping mechanisms:
1. Becoming a home bound hermit w/o HRT 2. Staying in the closet 3. Detransitioning 4. Fleeing
That's the sum total of trans people's options that will be legal within 5 years at this rate. There are illegal options, but that's out of scope in this thread.
If blue states go along with court rulings and the federal government, fleeing is less viable.
Genocide
Which brings me to genocide. There's a lot of definitions, but I believe this clearly constitutes cultural genocide: "The systematic destruction of traditions, values, language, and other elements that make one group of people distinct from another."
Transgender people, as a class, violate gender norms, and GOP wants to eradicate that.
Cultural genocide doesn't need killing, it just requires destruction of identity, and often involves taking children away and indoctrinating them into the majority culture.
We have gone from It Can't Happen Here, to It Will Happen Here, to It Is Happening Here. Now. Today. The GOP is clearly stating its end state goal of no more visible transgender people in the US. They are passing all the laws they need to do so.
The public is oblivious, apathetic, or actively in favor of this. The NYT and Jonathan Chait are both siding this, and going along with Matt Walsh and Jordan Peterson's narrative that "We're defending western civilization"
I hate knowing this history.
Addendum
Addendum: de-recognition of trans identities also allows removing trans people from federal service. It's as simple as enforcing a dress code: "Show up to work on Monday in a coat, ties, and men's hair cut, or you're fired." It's either detransition or unemployment.
Thus, when Knowles and other conservatives talk about "eradicating transgenderism", this is what they mean. They're not (yet) advocating for mass murder, but they, and their cohorts in legislatures, are working towards a functional end to anyone in the US being openly trans.//
A final comment
That was the message from Tannehill. Let me add here that it is easy to lose hope in such a situation. But keep in mind that the reason the Republicans are doing this right now is that they know that they have been losing their “culture war” for many years now. The younger generations are much more liberal, open minded and pro-LGBT. They do not have the majority of Americans on their side.
Instead of adapting to a changing cultural landscape (as many conservative parties in other countries have done), the Republicans have decided to double down and force everyone else (”the woke liberals”)  to succumb to their nostalgic fever fantasies.
The American people can say not to this, and make sure that they lose the elections to come, at least on the federal level. That is definitely possible.
So keep on fighting!
Full thread here.
