i re-read the Brentwood Arc for the 13th time in the time of this ao3 shutdown (praise be the ao3 otw volunteers yall are based and deserve the world) oh my god i have IDEAS for a tim drake/danny temple crackfic that i may never release into the wild

Do u know how fucking funny i could be if i ever decided to write a Father of the Bride (the 1991 one specifically) AU. Like,,,ik thats a rather niche AU but like,,,i could. Father of the Bride would work EXTREMELY well as an au.

Lemme explain: this could be a no capes au OR just a canon divergence post Red Robin 2009 bc i never read further past that bc it didnt spark joy

No capes au? Tim comes back from overseas after doing a business trip for Bruce as a 21 yr old (letting my boy outta dc's forever 17 basement) or going off to college as like,,,a CompSci student for a whole year and now has to break it to his fam he's engaged to a really sweet herpetologist (or geneticist either/or works bc wow he was WEIRD as hell too why was this 14/15 yr old reading about genetic sciences) aka my LOVE Danny Temple that he met at college. bonus points he's the first one in the fam to make the leap for marriage bc thats SO fucking funny (i only do things for comedy)

Post-RR Era canon divergence au Tim decides he needs to take some time and figure out his head bc oh god my boy was a MESS holy shit and somehow (hes a nosey ass/affectionate) ends up in Kobra Cult messes and reconnects to his old friend Danny Temple. Fast forward at least several wacky hijinks, a Danny Tim Road Trip 2.0, long distance pining, some personal crises, emotional revelations and like,,2 years later, tim brings danny home for dinner and hopefully not a funeral bc they both decided they wanted each others disaster selves. More shenanigans.

This is an AU that I have been thinking about for months. I go back and forth about writing it because 1) it's niche 2) it's SO NICHE I don't think that people will read it 3) for people who do know, they have OPINIONS about it

It feels sort of lame as I type it out, but I'm gonna do it anyway

So this is what I've thought about it so far:

It's a Crossfit AU lmao

Now that you have a lil peek behind the curtain and know what I do 6 days a week, this is what I've been thinking about

Adam is a PT who gets a new job working out of a CF gym that's pretty competitive. He sees anybody and everybody, but was hired on to be the main physical therapist for the competitors at the gym (traveling to comps with them, etc.) Adam used to compete but stopped due to an injury and wanting to go back to school.

Declan owns the gym. He's an ex-competitor and now just coaches and does the gym's programming.

Jordan is his co-owner and also a coach. She used to compete on a team with Declan (Hennessy and Ronan were also part of that team)

Ronan is training to compete as an individual. He'd been competing on Declan's team until J+D decided to retire and start a family. He's extremely competitive, not the friendliest. He coaches occasionally

Gansey, Blue, and Noah are in there as fellow PTs/casual Crossfitters.

Ronan is training for comps but he isn't the best at warming up and stretching like he should and he isn't the most careful when it comes to him taking care of himself. He has an injury (idk what kind) and Adam steps in to help

They don't super get along at first. Ronan is his usual self and Adam doesn't have time for his shit. He's good at what he does though and Ronan keeps coming back.

There's pining, flirtatious exercising lmao, Adam visiting Ronan in Virginia (either because Ronan needed space to train without Declan around or he does poorly at a competition and needs space), the two of them getting to know one another better, and eventually getting together.

I don't know how I would make any of this compelling. It's not a movie, so it's harder to capture what I would like to convey. It's a sort of dumb idea now that it's written out, but it's an AU I come back to fondly and often.

The thing that gets me about history and humanity is that you never know what is immortalized, and the things that will be immortalized are things you would never think.

I saw a person sharing a new tattoo, and it was one of Onfim's drawings. A boy who lived so long ago he is barely a blip now, but his drawings meant so much to people that somebody is now permanently marked in their skin with one of those drawings. Do you ever look at the things you make and just sit there and wonder if this is the thing that future people look at? Do you ever look at your art, your writing, your schoolwork, or anything that is yours and just wonder who will find it, who will fall in love with a piece of your humanity and become overwhelmed with emotion over? It's not unlikely. It's not totally unlikely that somebody will find a piece of you in the distant future and devoid of any other context of who you were will still love you because you were here. You were here, and you are still here, even hundreds or thousands of years later. Treat yourself with the same love that so many have for dear Onfim.
