April 2024: Sunday Quest
In this post, I mentioned finding some irises growing wild & receiving a quest from my queen to retrieve seven. This is the tale...
It's always nice when something is where you left it... like my walking stick that I leave at this abandoned building site:

Hairy vetch in the wild:

The woods where the great blue herons roost:

Like any good adventure, there were side quests. The first was to locate an ear bud I had lost in this field the day before. It was not recovered:

But I did get to see a lot of crawfish chimneys:

The second side quest was to venture into the woods to see if I could spot some nesting herons.

Wood ducks. This is as close as they'd let me get:

This was the only great blue heron that I saw in the woods:

I finally got back on track & headed towards where the irises were located with a couple of distractions on the way:

Heading home with a backpack full of irises for my queen. From start to finish, the trek was 6.75 miles:

The well-earned reward - steak & peas with grilled peppers, onions & fruit:

ÉSO told us we were getting a shiny new rogue like dungeon to crawl and it was open to everyone, even if you only had the base game, and you could solo it. I thought we were finally getting some beginner friendly content beyond questing and delves. Instead, it's another arena. In a month, the devs are going to be asking why only 10% of the players are playing it and how to attract and keep new players. Well, I have a solution for you. Maybe stop tuning every new piece of the game up for the long-time players, and actually introduce things new players can play.
I'm sorry some long time player managed to get to arc 14 on week one of the Player Test Server. That was Veteran Georg and he can beat the entire game. The first version of the Endless Archive was a perfect introduction for new players. I wish I had seen th first version of the Bastion Nymics. I might have enjoyed those. New parts of the game without the grind sound amazing. But the higher level I get to, the more I notice the grind. Everything just takes forever. And I again, find myself drifting back into single player games. I said it before, ESO's main competition isn't any other MMO, it is every other single player game. Maybe Bethesda doesn't want to introduce Elder Scrolls VI because the know ESO's players will abandon ESO for the new single player Elder Scrolls game. I saw there was a certain emptiness in towns when Starfield came out. Come Christmas when more people buy themselves the game, there will probably be more emptiness that even the New Life festival can't balance out. As for your long time players, another big MMO is about to release their new chapter, so they are going to be off for a month or so. I don't mind having Blackreach or Clockwork city all to myself. I just hope that if the servers go offline, ESO will still be available as an offline game, with no changes to the difficulty, no decreases, no decreases, just as it is. Because I might not enjoy trials or arenas or Bastion Nymics or the Endless Archive or the last eight 4-person dungeons, but I'm loving the rest of the game. Even Galen. The overland content is amazing, better than any other RPG or MMO I've ever played. Though, I'm just a little casual player with no interest in grinding, PVP, veteran content, or leader boards. If things keep going the way they are, after all the quests and delves and public dungeons, I'm going to run out of things to do in ESO. At least I have a stack of single player games waiting for me. One thing though, the zone quest bosses for Necrom were brutal on a new character and just a grind on a leveled character. If the overland content gets less story oriented and more combat orientated, then I'll have nothing left to do.

⚜️ Quests of the New Year ⚜️
If like me, you find New Year's resolutions to be a tedium, in place of a New Year Resolution, you may now ask that a Quest be bestowed upon you, for you to complete ere the arrival of the next year (so, in 2023, before 2024).
You may set parameters to exclude or include certain requests ("I want my Quest to be focused on my Art and Writing"), and the Quest must be something achievable within a realistic context ("Become a billionaire" is not feasible), nor can it be something malicious or harmful ("Hurt so-and-so"). Set your parameters in your tags, so people accepting the request may grant you a proper Quest.
Other than this, there is no limit upon your Quest. It may be something small, or great. It may be a physical feat, or an artistic and academic accomplishment. It may be a personal goal, or something for other people.
You can undertake only One (1) Quest at a time, to make it more realistic and achievable. After all: the Quest is a matter of grave import to any errant knight!
The rules for accepting a Quest, and of issuing:
This is a matter of reblogging: you may reblog and assign to the person you reblogged from, their Quest. If you have multiple reblogs, you may declare which you wish to accept, but preference should be given to the first issued response, for a knight is not idle!
Have fun, everyone! ⚔️🛡️⚜️

Challenge #03835-J183: Through Dangers Untold...
Thirty floors, tons of traps and treasures, good thing this place is good for training beginners though. -- Anon Guest
Some have called it the worst dungeon in Alfarell. There's thousands of ways to get in. There's even more ways to get out, especially if you're not fussy about how clean you are when you reach the sunlight. Some say the labyrinths of Skymire's fallen city were never meant to be a dungeon. Some say that adventuring down there is a scam. Some say that there's a truly worthy treasure waiting for whomsoever can find its secret depository. Some say there's a cursed princess, trapped god, or supernatural entity that will grant one life-changing boon to the one who extracts them.
Some people will say anything.
Most junior adventuring parties begin there, they're hired to retrieve a MacGuffin from the labyrinth, and write off further adventures in the ancient ruins as not worth their bother. Some argue - unsuccessfully - that all those traps, puzzles, and confounding passageways have to be guarding something valuable.

Have you ever been negged by a pentecostal lesbian in a liquor store?
It caught me so off guard - I didn't have anything clever to say.
