Enhypen Jake boyfriend headcannons

💞Warnings: there are instances where the reader is advised to assume a certain character trait- even otherwise, it might not feel completely self insert (although I feel like that is pretty common in these headcannons so 🤷‍♂️), profanity💞 Word count: 300+ 💞Pairing: Jake x gn!Reader💞 Genre: Fluff, (established relationship)

I always imagine jake having a sort of ritual with their S/O where he sends them pictures of random memes on the internet that he claims to look like you (the memes being like, psychotic, batshit crazy)

He seems to be someone who would put substantial effort into conversing with you when you're discussing an interest of yours that he is not familiar with. For example, if you were talking to him about a new movie that you watched that you are absolutely obsessed with, one that he hasn't watched yet or isn't interested in, rather than just being like "who's your favourite" (which of course, he will ask) he will also ask you what your favourite moment in the movie was- why that was your favourite moment; if fantasy, then he would ask of your opinion on the worldbuilding, "Were you okay with the pace of the plot, you know, as someone who only tends to watch long shows?" He takes lots of conscious effort into doing this, and is well aware- and proud- of it

I think he is one of those people who can tell whether you require advice or comfort, whether it is the right time for it, whether you would be okay with physical touch as comfort, whether a joke would be appropriate in the moment, etc just be observing the state that you're in- he just gets you.

He seems quite versatile in his social energy. Like I know he is an ISTJ, but he seems to be introverted in the sense that he requires time alone to recharge, rather than having a preference for being by himself (if that makes sense- like he had isolationist tendencies but nothing against social interactions). I feel like this makes him capable of complementing his partner. If you are extroverted, he would look out for how you are exerting yourself, whether you are going into people pleasing mode, whether you are socializing as a method of escapism and warn you to fix the problem properly. If you are introverted, he would find the right situations with the right people to help you learn how to not depend on anyone to get your point across, he would help you develop confidence without losing control, and help you maintain it.Hhe would tell you of plans three weeks in advance, and when discussing things you could do together, checks in his schedule way ahead to make sure you have time to mentally prepare for it. He will cuddle up and watch netflix with you after you cancel a plan last minute because it just felt exhausting.

I feel like if you are someone who is not good at communicating, then it will be frustrating for jake, and so the two of you will create a communication- comprehension system: you have to communicate certain things with jake, and jake offers to learn how to comprehend your behaviours. I think this will create some cute traditions like going to the same cafe after work on fridays and taking it slow, discussing work life until the cafe closes and then coming home at 8; Small sticky notes posted around by jake with his concerns, asking you to either tick an option or write something else in case you don't want to talk about it.

Ummm god, I guess it depends what you mean by in? Probably Yu-gi-oh? I made a self-insert when I was like, 8, and was making up stories for them, and it was one of the first fandoms I wrote fic for; I still lurk and reblog art and enjoy it! But I'm not so active anymore

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

Like, the first character that came to mind was Zuko, let's be honest I'm sure quite a few of you thought of it too.

But if I really, really think about a character, Juno Steel from the Penumbra Podcast comes to mind. His whole deal at the beginning of the podcast is that he is obsessed with being a jinx, that he is cursed and poisons everyone he is around. So he self-isolates, refuses help, but it's just a form of hurting himself. However, in the later season, he joins a crew and allows himself to connect with and care for people, to heal and recover and lean on them! (Which only makes what happens later more tragic-)

M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend. You know what? Zagreus, from the game Hades. He is A) a super cool and nice guy. B) when I die if I get a bad deal, I can count on him to have my back, and C) I think the guy needs more friends. He is so lonely at the start of the game, I'd love to be one of the people he cheers up and then give him a trinket that makes him more powerful.

Okay so this one has a special place in my heart and is purely self indulgent because it’s just about two OCs of mine🙈 it’s like loosely based on the dc/batfam fandom but you would have to squint real hard for that lol (not to mention that these OCs have been recycled for other works all the time sooooooooooo)

anyway

this wip is hugely inspired by the song “Dandelions” sung by Ruth B and is possibly one of the only songs that i would be able to confidently say encapsulate the two OCs in this wip. tbh i have always been envious of ppl who could create those character playlists bc tbh y’all are so cool. but whenever i’d think to try, idk my mind would blank on it and it would begin a lot of self doubt. but with these two OCs (who are a couple. i should probably let y’all know about that) all i have been able to do is create character playlists and memes and cute little spin-offs with them. helped a lot with my motivation for writing

but yeah, Dandelions, the wip, is basically the “one-shot series” of this couple’s development (so like how they met, their growth as friends, their years of pining, their years as an assassin/mob boss/vigilante/whatever story I insert them in, their relationship, their marriage, etc) and i put the series thing in quotes mostly bc there’s always a time-skip to the next thing.

i don’t have a lot of it written down since i typically write those scenes whenever i am in the mood to do so. however 👀 i do have 2 parts of this series written and I think i’ll share a snippet of one of them (why not, you know, this post is already long 😤)

The girl crosses her arms and nods pensively.

“Probably,” she answers, “but that”—she motions her head to the wallet—“actually belongs to my brother, and he would skin me alive if he knew I not only borrowed it without his consent but lost it too.”

Borrowed it without his consent, sounds like a fancy way to say stealing in Nikolas’s opinion. Rich people really think they can get away with anything until the universe stops working in their favor.

“Wha–just–just who are you calling sweetie?”

“Who else?” She spun back and waved for Nikolas to follow, wallet in hand. Nikolas felt his jaw drop.

How the fu—

“I don’t know your name, so Imma just call ya sweetie. Unless you tell me otherwise!”

Nikolas sprinted to catch up with her. His mind spun in bewilderment on how this girl pickpocketed him without his notice. Who taught her? What is going on? Who is she?

“Nick,” he grunted after some time had passed. “Just so we’re getting that out of the way. Don’t call me sweetie.”

“Okay, Nick!” The girl grinned brightly, leading the boy to stammer about keeping her voice down. “I’m Lucy by the way. Now we’re almost there! Just a couple more blocks.”

3) Her fatal flaw is definitely her habit of bottling up her emotions. Despite how trauma is the cause for Amita instinctively suppressing how she feels and keeping her walls up as much as possible, it only just makes her a ticking time bomb in the end. She can and has gone off into an uncontrollable rage, involuntarily taking on a transformation her people don't understand & view as being demonic. If she wasn't stopped, she would have killed many people in her village. If it happens again, she could very well end up getting killed herself by someone seeking to protect those nearby. And as the cherry on top, said transformation is fatal if she forces her power past her body's natural limits too much or for too long. It's a lose-lose situation, but she's aware of it, and does her best in putting in work to be more emotionally mature for her sake & everyone else's. Even if she should have never ended up like this in the first place.

7) Maybe story-wise? At first, Amita was going to be more of the "average" member of her kind. But I started to think, and realized I could do a lot to enrich her character more (using a few personal experiences I've had IRL as inspiration). Granted, how...tragic she's developing to be wasn't fully intentional, but! IMO, the DB setting could use a more grounded perspective as a change of pace. How the world's seen through the eyes of someone disconnected from the Z Fighters and not involved with the craziness that's happened in space. A human with alien blood who's - more or less - lived a mundane life. If Amita were to actually be a character in the franchise, I feel like she'd stand out a lot with her sardonicism & subtle melancholy. I think that's neat.

Some might say she's unbearingly negative, but I prommy she does have a lot of positive traits too! (And ngl, Amita is meant to be the opposing "coin side" to my other OC/self-insert blend Maya, who despite the struggles she's gone through in her story has maintained a bright & cheery personality 😂 Squidward & Spongebob type beat)

19) In the "tame" aspect, she shuts down at first. Her anger initially manifests as a burning kind of sadness, in a way? She gets distraught. Then, the sadness turns into an inferno of fury. Amita always removes herself from whatever situation or scene that sparked her rage, and goes somewhere remote to vent through crushing boulders & the like.

It's...ironically rare for her to get enraged though? Especially in her older years now. Sorrow is definitely what comes to her the fastest and easiest, processed better than anger is. She taught herself long ago that it's always better to drown in the torrent alone, since it's just her own burden and asking for help the first & only time got her nowhere anyway.

I guess a mix? She’s like me but cranked to 100, if that makes sense? She’s also semi-based on another self insert of mine: The Nonsense

Also she has a lot more confidence than I do, but I really do think I would act like her if I were sent to The Amazing Digital Circus.

First: Immediately she was smitten. The way he welcomed her, showed her around, explained the circus… He’s a wonderful ringleader! What’s not to love?

Now: Love has increased tenfold!!!! They were quick to grow close, since Scribbly was the only one who genuinely enjoyed and understood that Caine just wanted to make a good show.

Jax

First: OOH BROTHER THIS GUY STINKS! Jax treated her with the same snark he treated Pomni. She was NOT having it and tried to retort with good comebacks, but that just made it worse because Jax just acts like he didn’t even hear them.

Now: Scribbly isn’t sure when it happened but at some point she developed feelings for him and she haaaaaaaates it. However she enjoys the rare times she can push his buttons. It’s easier to get to him now.

Kinger

First: Was hesitant at first, not really sure what to think of his random outbursts, or if he’d even remember her…

Now: However, they were quick to grow close too! Turns out being persistent is the best route, and that Kinger was pretty starved of attention. They cuddle in his fort now.

Zooble

First: Immediately got a crush but didn’t really do much about it- she was pretty intimidated by them.

Now: she’s still intimidated but knows that Zooble likes her. They spend a lot of time quietly sitting together.

😅 What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?

I'd say the only thing I'm genuinely embarrassed by was the first fanfic I ever wrote when I was like 13. It was a self-insert Yu Yu Hakusho story, and I deleted it after a few years because it was so cringe, haha. I'm sure if I looked back at other works from years and years ago, I wouldn't be thrilled with them, but those were just points in my development as a writer, so I'm not embarrassed by them.

💋 First kiss fics. Love em or hate em?

Love, love, love 'em! I've written a bunch of them and never get tired of reading them. I think it goes back to this great post:

I don’t want my fandom experiences to be unique, I want them to be sincere That’s why I enjoy reading the same tropes over and over again. Those authors are writing those stories from a genuine love of both the tropes and the characters.

A/B/O. I've only recently started reading it at all, and I just can't see myself writing it.

Also, main character death. I need some happiness in my writing, so I might make my protagonists suffer, but I'm never going to kill them. I always need comfort with my hurt. My heart can't take it otherwise 😂

..On the one hand, given that I literally just introduced her and you're also the reason she exists, it seems sacrilege not to answer this for Lorenza. On the other hand, the full answer's probably spoilers, and they'd be spoilers for you specifically. But I think I can get around that somewhat, so here we go!

8. How does she fit into her canon world? What’s her role to play, if any? Does she have a big destiny? Or does she more live as a side character that’s helpful for the protagonists/antagonists? - So, I would describe Lorenza's status as a side character only in the sense that she's not technically all that important to the overarching story. Her destiny is also arguably small, in that she's "only" a reaper's avatar - a voidsent (so, like a demon, essentially) bonded to someone to grant them power in battle, with her payment being the souls of those the reaper kills. This selfsame sort of pact is made by all who take up the discipline to their respective voidsent; that’s just how being a reaper works. But since that reaper, in this instance, would be none other than K'pheli Tia, you could argue that might elevate her relevance up a touch, considering he’s a god and everything.

In terms of explaining a bit more about how Lorenza fits into the world, I will probably have to go under the readmore here - maybe not so much for “important story events that you will see happen during Endwalker” spoilers, but moreso “things you would only find out during Endwalker” spoilers, if that makes sense?? So, thank you very much again for sending this, and don’t feel you have to continue if you want to go into that expansion more blindly.

To everyone who doesn’t mind those spoilers, however, here’s what hopefully serves as a bit more explanation!

So, being a voidsent, Lorenza originates from the Thirteenth, a world that got flooded with darkness to be left as a barren wasteland. However, I am saying that - while she isn’t a Memoriate like Zero - she is similar to Zero in that she was also born after her mother was afflicted with dark aether during the Contramemoria war. This resulted in her maintaining some human traits but also having voidsent ones when she was born, though the actual big Flood of Darkness some time later shifted her to being more voidsent than human. (I keep saying “human” out of not having decided on her in-game race yet, but at the moment I’m thinking probably Miqo’te? Only having three cat-eared - plus one more fully feline - self-inserts when there’s an option for another in the game itself makes it seem more logical, haha). Unlike sin eaters, voidsent are said to retain some of their pre-Flood memories and personalities (though warped) if they are strong enough, and so even if Lorenza isn’t super overpowered, I like to think that her technical hybrid nature would let her keep more of her human side intact. She’s still me, after all, so she’s hopefully not going to end up that body horror-y or anything.

Being somewhat more voidsent than human due to excess darkness is probably the state that she’d be in when she and K’pheli first form their pact, and at this point she’d actually be known by a different name, Colombina (“little dove”, for her winged appearance as a voidsent). You can think of that as the name of what kind of voidsent she is, or her name as a more fully-fledged voidsent, whereas Lorenza is either the name she was actually given when she was born or a name she picks up or is given after becoming slightly more human again (if it’s the former, maybe I can blame the fact she’s not from the Source as the reason for her name not following typical conventions for her race). In Zero’s case, that becoming-more-human-again was due to a crystal of Hydaelyn’s light purging excess darkness, I think - but in Lorenza’s case it could be something K’pheli can do given his powers as the Crystal God?? Or just. Another crystal of Hydaelyn’s light. I don’t really know what the significance was to the original one in all honesty =P

name of muse. I currently have 12 active muses (both canon and OCs), 3 test muses and 1 request muse on this blog. Mort of them are Rick and Morty muses (all versions of the two titular characters).

rp experience / how long. I don’t remember for how long exactly I’ve been RPing. It has to be at least 8-10 years. I started on another site and then landed on Tumblr about 5-6 years ago.

best experience. I don’t have a specific episode that I consider the best ever, but in general the best experience for me is connecting with kin minded people and build a world of plots and interactions through of our characters. It’s always a lot of fun and very stimulating. I have a few people I’m especially grateful to in this sense and I hope I’ll have the chance to keep writing with them for as long as possible. And hopefully to meet more like them.

rp pet peeves / deal breakers. This calls for a quite the list xD No rules / muse(s) page. Drama / callout culture. DNI for specific characters. Cyber-bulling of any sort (and yes, this includes harrassing people for liking content that you consider “problematic”. If you do that sort of things, get away from my blog, grow the fuck up and get a life). Untagged posts / untagged NSFW, or too fancy tags that are hard to blacklist. Being a self-absorbed dick in general. People who ignore the starters / replies to ask you wrote for them. People who try to force their personal headcanons / views about my muses on me. People who use the “this is a hobby” excuse to be terrible to their writing partners and to not give back the effort people offer them.

fluff, angst, or smut. Angst is one of my favourite things to write, so that’s definitely my pick. I still like a happy ending after navigating an ocean of feels, pain, trauma, broken spirits, crushed dreams and so on x’D But yeah, angst all the way. Fluff is good to balance more intense threads, so I don’t mind indulging in that too. As for smut, I’m extremely selective with it. I write it with trusted people only, and only when inserted in the context of a developed scenario / ship.

plots or memes. I’m definitely partial to plotting. I like creating long-term storylines, dynamics and arcs / verses. It’s really important for me to plot at least the general idea for first interactions especially, because it helps me getting an idea of what the other person is looking for.

long or short replies. I’m a descriptive RPer, so I almost exclusively do multi-para and novella threads. Single para are for brief interactions / crack.

best time to write. I don’t really have a specific time. My inspiration comes and goes as it pleases, it could hit me at every hour of the day and of the night. I usually end up writing at night mostly because it’s when I have more free time.

are you like your muse. I share some traits with most of my muses, but I wouldn’t say that there’s a muse that is exactly like me. If something I’m a bit of a mix of some of them. I tend to be almost as cynic as Rick, I can be a bitch like Summer, and I struggled with bad anger issues in the past like Morty does and I tend to put up a facade / play a certain kind of persona for the world to see Like Blitzo. I’m not super easy to approach (even if it might not seem so), I have plenty of insecurities and I’m really socially awkward, traits that characterises a good number of my muses.

So I recently started obsessing over Jamil… but I’m in this little conundrum where I don’t entirely see him liking my self insert. She’s small, shy, doesn’t talk much, really nice, and kinda airheaded at times… well, till she gets comfortable around someone. Then she has a bit of a problem with volume control and can talk for hours as long as her friend is engaged. She’s more likely to cuss a friend out if they piss her off, but she’ll forget to be pissed after sleeping. Spiteful and petty, for instance she will learn a game or activity just enough to be an annoyance to the person that pissed her off. She’s still an airhead but she’s not gullible, she’s been taken advantage of and doesn’t like it. Lastly big helping of Depression an Anxiety where she sometimes doesn’t leave her bed for over 24 hours and is too anxious to have her inside thoughts in the outside unless in a comfortable environment. Chaos child, especially over the text. If she has a friend’s number they’re gonna get random sleepy thoughts and cursed pics at ungodly hours. She’s still a sweetheart that will do anything for people she cares for and ask for nothing in return except their company, but when bitten she will bite back. Or punch, she’s not afraid to aim for the kidney.

Anyway… maybe some headcanons of Jamil’s first reaction to her and then as he gets to know her? Please?

Jamil:

-Jamil, who just thinks the mc is just there. Completely unassuming, and during certain events (his overblot lmaooo) thinks cool easy person to manipulate. Only for her to come back and be ready to throw hands because Kalim is like, yeah you're friend shaped. They are friends now.

-Anyways I think that's how him getting to know mc would start because Kalim exchanges numbers, and thinks the cursed pictures at 3am are hilarious and shows Jamil, who is like: :/ "why were you awake at 3am Kalim?" "Jamil ignore that and look at the funny picture!"

-Jamil gets mc's number is like: "please stopping sending memes to Kalim at 3am I don't want him falling asleep during class." He isn't impressed when the reply is just '"no <3" She has now made Jamil's list of people he would leave stranded in the desert.

-He thinks mc and Kalim are chaotic. Then he catches mc and Ace having the weirdest conversation before basketball practice which he hears every word of. "Mothman is the safest cryptid to smash, but I think I could take a Skinwalker." "I could take Siren Head." "Deadass?" "Deadass." Jamil doesn't know what either they are talking about, they have been talking about this for thirty minutes, please stop.

-Floyd casually mentions in passing once that Shrimpy bit him on the arm because he tried squeezing them. Jamil prays that you do not encourage Kalim to start biting because that will be the last straw.

-Development starts when Kalim asks Jamil to check on mc with him, because they haven't left their dorm for two days. Grim says she's sick, but they also aren't answering anyone's messages. When they enter the dorm seeing her wrapped up in bed, Kalim immediately trying to cheer her up, while Jamil stands off to the side.

-"Have you eaten anything?" a quiet no. "Let me make you something." He feels as though he owes them that much. He just doesn't intend for it to be a gateway that leads to him receiving random thoughts and cursed images.

-To which he uses them like receipts to remind mc that they better be going to sleep at a reasonable hour.

On Degrees and Knowledge

For everyone else, thank you for your patience in waiting for this lecture. Things have been picking up a bit in my day job, and I recently got motivation to output some writing sessions. They were really rough works, but every work starts out that way. Nevertheless, you all now have my undivided, over obsessive attention. So grab your choice of note taking materials.

Now doctorates take a few years with a university or similar form of higher education. On average, most people take four additional years of schooling after the standard four years of typical college. Now some individuals can cut the time frame by a year, however it’s still a hefty time to spend in school. It also takes a significant amount of money to pay the tuition fees for all that time, as well as other expenses such as books and student activity fees.

Unless one plans to become either a theology professor or work alongside historians and archaeologists on sites, a theology major isn’t worth pursuing from a practical standpoint. I dare say that even if someone was fortunate enough to be the be of the few to land such a job in field that don’t have a high demand of applicants needed, one could still make an argument to not pursue such. Additionally, I feel that it’s safe to assume that a general theology degree from nonreligious-based colleges requires students to explore religious beliefs that differ from their own. Plenty of community churches will offer decently paid positions despite educational background. In regards to a rhetoric degree, I also believe that such a degree limited to positions where the salary might not reflect the time commitment.

To answer your the original question truthfully, I didn’t get a doctorate in either of those subjects. I come from a humble family who didn’t have the income to pay for college in full. In order for my siblings and I to attend college, we had to take advantage of scholarships, and I was the only child who was able to hold onto scholarships long enough to make it through the full term of a diploma. Looking back on the time, I should consider myself fortunate to have received my four-year bachelor’s degree without having to go into student debt. However, I was only able to take a major and a minor. Looking forward to the future and considering that neither avenue of study really resonates with my personality, I disregarded pursuing either theology or rhetoric degrees.

(Gasp) But Mr. Scribe, you gave the answer to the asked question and we’re nowhere near the bottom of the post.

Yes, student-who-states-the-obvious, that’s correct. Anyone who decided to just skip to the bottom is reading my super rough self-insert fic. This is another lesson: there’s a substantial difference in knowledge that is bestowed and knowledge that is earned. To take the recollection of solely one source runs the inherent risk of receiving misinformation. It’s the same reason why you shouldn’t take the blogging of a tumblr user who identifies as a nun in her profile as truth, especially if her blogs lack scripture reference. The primary goal of education isn’t to force as much knowledge into a brain as possible. The primary goal of education is to develop open-mindedness, self-research, problem-solving, and healthy cognitive development. To phrase it simpler; it not learning the facts, it’s about understanding how to gain information and think on your own. People don’t need diploma to know things; diplomas just act as a social construct of recognition certificates.

Now, if you’re really dedicated to pursuing a career in theology, I believe that it would be in your best interest to ask a respected leader of a nearby religious community in a public setting or the equivalent of an expert in the rhetorical sphere; a speech writer for political candidates would be my first suggestion. However, why go into student debt to here how some guy lecture about religion when you could walk into a public church/temple and listen to a sermon for free? Why, if an individual would travel to a well-off Protestant church and inquire about where they could buy a Bible, the church would just give them one. The book app on my phone offers free downloads of the Bible. I can google Bible verses off of context alone and get Bible gateway to provide the exact verse that I need.

Mr. Scribe, you don’t have the ability to apply the scriptures in your teaching! 😡

Why not? The Bible is the most distributed piece of literature out there. When the printing press made its way west to the states, the sole purpose of sending them out by the dozens was to print a mass-ton of bibles. (Berthold, Arthur Benedict (1970), American colonial printing as determined by contemporary cultural forces, 1639-1763,) We have had centuries to perfect the translation of of the Bible to the point where kid shows can feature Bibleman and Larryboy. Mistranslation shouldn’t be an issue. So why is it that some people suggest that a rhetoric doctorate is needed?

Let me answer that rhetorical question: it’s because some people do not want their ideas and beliefs contradict. Therefore, they say that in order for anyone to speak on their beliefs, they either have to go through financial strain to earn a piece of paper, or conform to their beliefs and abandon free thinking. If someone were to ask me what the major difference is between a religious organization and a cult, my response would be that cults don’t have a NAICS code to identify them… so a fair amount of them end up using the NAICS code of religious organizations. If someone is suggesting that you’re reading scripture in the wrong mindset, then I believe that it’s safe to reason that they are attempting to narrow the view to solely fit the prerogative of their group.

Story Time:

To answer the original question of where I received the two doctorates, I would require clarification. If one is asking what was the physical location that I was present in when I received those papers, then my answer would be that I received my rhetoric doctorate in the McKenzie Theater of Eastern Oregon University in December of 2008, then I received my theology doctorate in the mess hall of an undisclosed military institution in late February of 2011. If the question pertained to from which institution did my doctorates originated from, then my rhetoric doctorate originated from the University of London, and my theology doctorate originated from Princeton University.

Now, an observant reader can clearly see that the places of origin deviate greatly from where I receive them. Your suspicion are valid because I received each doctorate through non conventional means and events.

Rhetoric

I was beginning my college career at Eastern Oregon University when my mandated English class had required me to write a ten page nonfictional narrative. I chose to write “Guinea Pig Passing,” a recollection of how each family member dealt with the final days of our pet Guinea Pig named Bullwinkle. At the time, I felt like it wasn’t the most creative concept, but my mind was more focused on the university’s theatrical production of a staged “Pride and Prejudice”.

The due date approached come late October and I’m struggling to stay focused after proofreading the night before, dealing with La Grande and finding a parking place. I’m making my way to Loso Hall with eyes drooping when I stumble into an old white man decked in Doctor Who-like attire . We both drop our papers and he begins to complain in an English accent so thick, he could have stopped bullets with a cry for “Tea Time”. We take our papers and quickly stride away from each other.

If you guessed that we ended up swapping papers, then congratulations, you get a cookie 🍪.

I realized the switch-a-roo before turning in sketches of Victorian clothing, rushed to a computer lab to print out whatever version I had on my thumb drive, and came in late to class to turn in the assignment.

I fretted about the assignment being turned in under a draft different than the final all the way to rehearsal when, lo-and-behold, doctor who-needs-to-crack-a-smile is talking with the director until he catches a glimpse of me. I’m expecting the worst yet am taken aback when he approaches me with tears in eyes. He holds my assignment as if he was Oliver begging for more and asks me if I wrote it. I get two confused nods in before he brings me into a hug and I get a unhealthy whiff of expensive cigars.

So… it turn out that I bumped into Professor James Martin of the University of London who ventured overseas to aid or production while taking in the sights of Portland. He’s a nice guy once you get the chance to not bumble into him. He liked my nonfictional essay (said something about how it reminded him of Bill Faulkreath’s ‘As I Lay Crying’ or something) and we talked a bit about Darcy. I thought he would slap me for saying how Darcy seemed less of a character and more of a plot device and end goal for the leading lady, Elizabeth. However, he appreciated the fresh take. I showed him around Portland; good times.

So I ended up getting a A on the assignment because that professor was a real one, passed Tabatha’s class with a B, then get called in by the Dean who sat me down to tell me that ‘Guinea Pig Passing’ was submitted to the University of London’s Distinguished works of Rhetoric to obtain the highest honor. Then they held a ceremony in McKenzie Theater where I was bestowed an honorary doctorate in rhetorics.

Theology:

For the story of how I got my theology doctorate, your going to want to lie down.

It’s October 2010 and I’m feeling melancholic. Two years passed and I’m feeling the pointless of striving for purpose. Emptied of care, I went to the my fall freshman language professor, Miss Swanson, because she was one of the few people who didn’t hold me up in high regards. Miss Swanson told me that maybe I would find interest in a humanities project, but said humanities really weirdly. There was a two-second pause before she dragged out ‘huuuuumaaanities’ like Disney drags out a purchased franchise across their money grater. Luckily, I didn’t pick up on his hesitation and agreed on the grounds that I had nothing to lose.

October 28th rolls around and I’m sitting in a room with professors galore thinking that this isn’t how most students spend a Friday evening.

Rihon: Are you sure it’s okay that I’m sitting in this meeting? I’m the only student here.

Miss Swanson: You have a Rhetorics Doctorate.

Rihon: Cool. Where’s the Sociology doctor who wrote his dissertation on a cop running over his black Labrador?

Fellow bloggers, I don’t know how to put it other than bluntly. The entire staff of Eastern Oregon University gathered together to try and prevent the end of America.

Miss Swanson explained to me how Native Americans cursed the early European colonizers to rid them off of the land. However they believed it to be a myth because they couldn’t line up the dates with the stars in the sky on a palindrome day.

Rihon: What, like, ‘be wary, be wary, of the eleventh of February?’

Miss Swanson: No. It would be Remember, remember, the second of November.’

Rihon: Sorry. Must have been Martin talking.

Miss Swanson: What do you mean?

Rihon: Well, he tended to list dates by the day, then month, then year. The way he explained it actually made so much more sense.

I hope none of you ever have to see a professor look like they just shit their drawers.

First, Miss Swanson made that face, then she wanders over to the Dean who makes the face, then they announce that they may have been looking at the date wrong, letting the entire staff make that face.

Rihon: Sooo… score one for the millennials?

Miss Swanson: We could all die.

Rihon: You’re just jealous.

With the time to prepare cut in half, plans were made for a group of professors to head to the first settlement of what would come to be the United States. When talk came about that they wished they could send more aid, I did the only logical thing I could of. I went to DisneyWorld.

Disney has this college program where college students work the park. I score a role as Goofy/Prince Eric, made a few friends, and waited until February to surprise my professors.

Rihon: Heyyyy. Guess who’s gonna help you save the worldddd?

Miss Swanson: You’re coming to Jamestown???

Rihon: Jamestown?

Swanson: Don’t play dumb. Jamestown Virginia settled by the English permanently in 1607.

Rihon: you’re joking, right?

Miss Swanson: maybe you should stay in your history class.

Rihon: the one that says St. Augustine was settled by the Spaniards in 1565?

(Longest pause ever)

Rihon: Score two for millennials?

Miss Swanson: Not the time.

So the U.S. has a week expiration date and the team of faculty members are states way, leaving the world ending crisis to 20-year-old me; and the merry band of Disney Team Members who joined me in my excavation to St. Augustine. I’m glad they tag along as it helped me delegate the mental workload and allow us to figure out that the cursed site laid in Castillo de San Marcos. Making the most of what could have been our last days, we waited until that fateful Friday to stop the curse.

Now if anyone was expecting the final boss battle to be against Sitting Bull and their spirit totem pole amalgamation monster, then you’ll be as surprised as we were when I tell you that they were mere pawns and means to ends. The true mastermind was a Hollywood-gorgeous-white-man who would have looked all the prettier if he didn’t scowl at the time. Then again, he made it pretty clear that he loathed the fact that we dared attempted to stop him. Fast forward a monologue of contempt, I try to get him to spill the beans on why he’s doing what he’s doing and how to stop it.

Then Pretty-Psycho took out a scroll and sent dark magic towards Auburn, the girl who played Ariel beside me. I shielded her from this reality defying magic, and then I died.

Are you being serious, Rihon?

Yes and no. Time rifts are a tricky thing, which is why I advise against using dark magic if it’s not completely understood. A human body isn’t able to travel through raw tear in the timeline, but a soul departs from the body and the timeline entirely. So, I died in the sense that my soul departed from my body, but… well, there’s a reason why the world didn’t end back in 2011.

I was a bodiless entity existing out of the newly torn timeline. Time itself was laid out for me to where I could observe present past and two possible futures, one of doom and the one we know as our present (so… a more subtle doom.) It became evident that in order to achieve the lesser of two evils, I had to return to by body within a small window of when my soul departed it before my brain processes the loss of blood flow. Yet since I existed outside of time, I had about 30% of forever to figure out how to go back to that moment. So I decided to drift back in time and search for a way back home.

To sum up a timeless story, I learned secret truths of life, existence, and the construct of reality while floating around as a soul. One of those secrets truths: the origin of our known universe. Along with that, I learned how to return to my body at the time tear and defeat the Adondeath, the true name of Pretty-Pyscho.

After the Disney gang and I prevented the end of the world, we were arrested by the military along with the Native American minion and Adondeath. Even with the staff members of Eastern Oregon University coming to speak in my defense, it takes the better part of two weeks for the military to truly understand what had happened. Around day three, I had the pleasure to meet… well, more like be interrogated and psychoanalyzed by… many professors who were experts in their field yet had the availability to aid the military. One of them was Eddie Glaude Jr.: the William S. Tod Professor of Religion and African American Studies and chair of the Department of African American Studies at Princeton University. Mr. Glaude asked me about boring specifics about the spiritual aspects of the dark ritual to which I had to explain them in relationship of the understanding of religious beliefs to a T. Having aced an oral exam of incalculable magnitude. Mr. Glaude spent a week to let his brain recover before he and every other external professor told the military that I was honest and sane… given the circumstances.

The Disney crew gets medals of heroism, yet we are sworn to secrecy to not let the general public know, and return to finish our internships at DisneyWorld before having come to the realization that our lives cap at meaningful experiences before we reached the legal drinking age. Oh and Mr. Glaude gifted me a doctorate of theology.

Alright class. That’s enough of my rants and recollections for a while.
