Dating

Palpatine would pay for all dates. He has the means, he has the pride, and he wouldn't have it another way.

You better like high-end stuff. This man has never known anything but intense luxury. "Grabbing dinner" means a lavish restaurant.

That being said, you might find yourself in more niche or elite places, farther away from the public eye. As a senator, Palpy's a public figure, and as chancellor, there's media publicity everywhere. Showing off is fun, but if you can't have a peaceful moment together, it just gets annoying.

Palpatine can be a gentleman, but deep down, he loves mischief. In public, he'll be decent... mostly. There is definitely some flirting with controversy. Also, expect some teasing, due to his sadistic streak.

You may not see a lot of overt affection on the outside. Don't expect grand words or emotional displays. You'll really have to look at the little things: a lingering smile, grabbing your hand while in public, etc. Over time, you'll learn to recognize it.

Living together

Because of the INTJ that he is, Palps is quite introverted (that type is also called "The Mastermind" because of course it is). This means that you might find yourself in the same room without talking. Maybe he does some work, maybe you read a book... It's comfortable silence.

He will be on top of everything: appointments, events, errands... Just ask and he'll tell you when what is scheduled. His brain automatically keeps track of everything. He'll even notice when your period is due. And he's too rational to be grossed out by something like that and instead makes practical preparations, such as having the heated blanket ready.

Palpatine's very driven by his work, so you may need to urge him to come to bed in the middle of the night. During busy political seasons, you might have to accept more nights alone, but you'll get your quality time compensated at a later moment.

That all being said, he is open to spontaneous fun. He can get bored easily, so if you throw in a fun activity, he's likely to accept.

Palpy's not one for deep emotional conversations, but he will make you feel very safe to open up. When you're upset about something, he can offer rationality or a reality check. Very good at comforting and encouraging. Can make you feel very good about yourself.

No matter how spoiled you are, remember that we're talking about an aristocrat with enough accomplishments to create a beskar ego. Princess Sheev will only accept the best. You may be a drama queen, but he's a drama empress.

Bedroom

I will type "Sheev has a power kink" until AO3 makes it an official tag. Feed his ego. It'll be fun, I promise.

He can be gentle(-ish) but don't think for a second that you're in charge. He'll be on top most of the time. Can definitely get a little rougher as things heat up. It'll be intense but by no means a 2-minute affair. He likes to have fun, after all.

Long, manicured fingers.

Again, a touch of sadism. Palpatine will enjoy having you at his mercy. He can make you beg and he'll love watching you lose your mind. He'll quickly learn all your sensitive spots and what works for you.

This man knows how to enjoy himself. He's a bit greedy and knows how to (use you to) satisfy it. Again, nothing super overt, but you can tell when his mind is overtaken by pleasure.

Queen’s Peril by E K Johnston

Queen’s Peril follows the beginning of Padme Amidala’s reign as Queen of Naboo up to the end of The Phantom Menace. Padme is learning her new and important role as well as training with her new handmaidens and her close friend - and decoy- Sabe.

Queen’s Peril dives deep into Naboo politics and how Queen Amidala changed Naboo for the better. It’s clear from the start why her people loved her so much. Also, Padme shows qualities that we see in Luke and Leia in future Star Wars media. Yes, Leia is very much like her mother, but she has qualities from Anakin. The same goes for Luke.

I loved the handmaidens and how much training was involved. It was a very difficult job. They didn’t just copy Padme, but made the Queen Amidala persona a mix of all of them so the decoy could be played by any of them. Everything form the voice and small gestures were carefully planned out so the decoy could easily switch, even in the middle of an important dinner. Their friendship is what you expect from a group of 14 year old girls, but they have a level of maturity that is needed for their important roles.

The first half of the book is strong, however, when we get to the overlap of The Phantom Menace, the story felt rushed. We have already seen these events, so there was little dialogue except for moments that weren’t in the movie.

Apart from that I loved this book. Any Padme and prequel fan will enjoy it too.
