Can you do a story where the readers is a chubby girl and Harry's siblings and between her and Fred there is something going on (only Fred confessed his feelings).

The reader doesn't believe that Fred feelings are real because he used to make fun of her with George.

Harry and Hermione (as reader best friend) decide to help Fred to make you understand that his feelings are true ( Harry give him some advise on how have your attention: your favorite book, favorite flower, what you like to do on the weekend etc.). Hope you kinda understand what I meant- also, an happy ending?

a/n: i have no experience and hence wasn’t sure how to write a chubby girl, i tried my best. please do tell me if i’ve written something wrong so that i can change it.

Finding out that you, just like your brother, were also magical, was one of the best moments of your life. The one year in which Harry was at Hogwarts and you were at home was torture, the Dursleys giving you extra chores, forcing you to do everything around the house in an attempt to get you energetic.

“You’re always so lazy. Get up and do something on your own for once, would you?”, your aunt berated one day when you sat down for a minute after trimming the bushes outside.

However, the next summer when you got your letter, they calmed down, knowing that they couldn't stop you from going. You got sorted into Gryffindor and immediately did your best to become friends with everyone. However, to your dismay, a lot of people didn’t really want to become friends with you.

Sometimes, you would hear them talking while you took a shower.

“She’s so fat, it looks weird she would be much prettier if she exercised a bit.”

“Yeah, or maybe if she went on a diet. My cousin went on one and...”

Most of the time, you tried to block it out, trying to stay optimistic. You figured that it would jut take some time, but you would fit in, sooner or later.

Meanwhile, you became best friends with Hermione Granger, who Harry introduced you to. She was great, always helping you with schoolwork and the two of you loved spending time with each other. You mainly hung out with Harry’s friends, who didn’t mind having you around and definitely didn’t tease you, so having another girl in a group was life saving.

Ron, however, wasn’t exactly your favourite. Not because he was bad or anything, but because of his brothers. Fred and George, the troublesome twins that just never seemed to leave you alone. They made all the teasing worse, spreading rumours about how you tried losing weight but couldn’t, or how You-Know-Who cursed you as well, so you would be chubby forever.

You absolutely despised the two of them, hating how everyone laughed at your face when you saw them whispering to each other in the common room. You would find yourself crying in your dorm after lights out, hating the way they and everyone else made you feel. Soon enough, you did start dieting, or tried to at least.

You would skip one meal a day, instead taking a walk outside. Hermione and Harry realised almost immediately, and started escorting you to meals, making sure one of them was always next to you, making sure you ate enough. You appreciated the effort, of course, but sometimes you wished they hadn’t realised.

A couple days later, you accidentally walk up the boys dorm while reading a book and hear some shouting. Looking up, you see the door open. Ron and Harry are shouting at Fred and George, who look solemn.

“Are you bloody mad? She already feels like shit, you don’t need to add to it.” You hear Ron’s voice yelling at the top of his lungs. “Mum raised us better than this.”

Harry was stood to the side, adding points in between, slightly conflicted as the Weasleys had been nothing but nice to him. “Look guys, I and Y/N would appreciate it if you just stopped. It’s hurting her and me.”

Fred looked to the side and saw you. Making eye contact, you leave, running to your dorm, avoiding all four of the boys for the next few days.

Eventually, they apologize and you accept it.

For the next few years, you kept distance from them, and they from you. Occasionally you would run into each other when you stayed over at the Burrow, but other than that, they stopped troubling you and you didn’t say much to them.

One night when you were back at Hogwarts, you were coming back from a late night study session in the library when Fred took ahold of your arm.

“Hey, uh, can I talk to you?” His voice was unsure, nervous.

Frowning, you replied. “Yeah, is something wrong?”

“No uh, look I- I wasn’t sure how to do this so um- I like you.”

Taken aback, you double check to make sure your ears weren’t deceiving you. When he repeats what he said, you can’t help but start laughing.

“You’re not being serious. Look, if this is some sort of elaborate joke, it’s not working Fred.” You head back to your dorms, leaving Fred standing there in the middle of the hallway, a shocked look on his face.

He realises that you didn’t trust him anymore, not after the way he treated you. Honestly, he didn’t blame you. He was downright stupid for treating you like that, and he really did regret it. At that moment, he decided that he would do everything he could to make you like him.

Over the next few weeks, unbeknownst to you, he was constantly cornering Harry and Hermione, asking them what all you liked in order to gain your attention. At first the both of them were confused, wary at his sudden interest in you. But, after he confessed to them the reason behind his endeavours, they were more than happy to help.

Harry would tell him funny stories from your childhood, while Hermione would share with him your favourite books and things you did over the weekend.

Following that, you would often enter the common room to find Fred on one of the couches, lounging as he read some of the books you liked. It was a surprise every week as he picked up a new one. One day, you decided to go over to him.

“Nice book?”, you asked.

“Yup! This bit’s actually really interesting.” Fred tilts the book towards you, so that you can read what chapter he’s on.

“Hmm.”

He scoots over and pats the space next to him, inviting you to read with him. Taking a quick glance at the clock, you figured you could take a break for a while before going back to studying, and sat down next to Fred. It became a habit, every day the two of you would read a chapter together before you went your separate ways. It soon became his and your favourite part of the day.

“Do you want to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?”, Fred asked one night. “We can go to Honeydukes, i’ve been wanting some Peppermint Toads.” He had remembered a conversation with Hermione in which she revealed to him your favourite candy.

“You like Peppermint Toads? Huh. I always put you up as a Fizzing Whizzbees type of guy.”

Fred scratched behind his neck as he awkwardly chuckled. “No, I like Peppermint Toads quite a bit. Come with me, won’t you? I’ll pay.”

Giving a small smile, you accept.

You and Fred got extremely close over the next few months, and you found yourself developing a small crush on him. However, you were still hesitant, remembering the way he treated you when you were younger.

A few days later it was Valentine’s Day, and Fred figured it was the perfect day to try again.

He walked up to you with a bouquet of your favourite flowers and handed them to you with a shy smile, cheeks and ears bright red.

“Thank you? Happy Valentine’s to you too Fred.”

“I like you. I meant what I said last term. I really did mean it, I swear.”

You sigh, not sure how to reply. “Fred, look, I like you too, I do. But I just-”

“You don’t trust me.”

“No, it’s not that I don’t trust you, I-”

“I know what I did Y/N, and I am so, so, so sorry. I was stupid and young and I meant it when I apologized. Look, I get that you might not want to go into this, but I just need one chance. I promise I’ve changed.”

You stay silent for a second, thinking of whether or not you should give him the chance. He really did seem to have changed, and he had been really nice to you. Plus, the part of you that crushed on him was going crazy right now.

“Okay, yeah!”

“Really?”

“Yeah, c’mon.” You look your arm through his, the other still holding the flowers, as you head to great hall.

“Wait uh, how did you know that this was my favourite flower? And come to think of it, you’ve been really interested in my favourite things recently.”

“Oh, um, Harry and Hermione sorta helped, y’know like told me what all you liked.”

“They did huh?”

I'm yoinking this idea for the unofficial blog event 🤡

(Quick clarification: Mrs. Spade being an ex-delinquent is a headcanon! I just thought it’d be an interesting concept, so I incorporated it into her character.)

Curiouser and Curiouser...

When Lilia mentions to his son that he's planning on cooking for the "lady friend" he's seeing, Silver steps in to stop his dad from poisoning the poor woman. "You should try a restaurant, get to know one another better before volunteering to share your... talent with her," Silver advises as lightly as he can. Thankfully for him (and for his dad's date), Lilia relents.

He decides to take his date to Tony's, a laid-back family friendly pizza and pasta joint in town. Lilia brings along his own candle—blessed with Malleus’s almost apocalyptic green fire (imagine that, a horned fairy godmother in pitch black robes)—to decorate their table, as well as a crystal vase with a single red rose (provided from the Heartslabyul Gardens by Cater, wanting to support his fellow Light Music Club member. “Knock’m dead with your charm, Lils!”)

Kalim had wanted to contribute something to Lilia’s date night, but unfortunately a huge parade of animals, while impressive, wouldn’t squeeze into Tony’s. Instead, Kalim went shopping with Lilia to help him get all dripped out for the occasion! “I’ll pay for whatever you want, so have at it!” (It was Jamil who had to limit Lilia’s spending and stopped him from buying medieval battle armor. “Why would you wear this to a date?! Are you trying to kill them? Just wear something practical and casual!”)

Lilia thought he’d be the first at the venue, but he's actually been beaten to the punch. She's easy to spot because of her hair--a bob, striped blonde and dark blue--and her spade earring. Lips painted, eyes done up. Her leather jacket is open to reveal a cute white rabbit logo (most likely a freebie T-shirt from work), paired with jeans (ripped at the knees) and ankle boots.

"You're early, Dylla," he remarks, slipping into the seat across from her and placing the candle and vase on the table. She smiles and says, "I'd never be late for a very important date."

Lilia asks if Dylla was waiting for long. According to her, she was at the restaurant over 15 minutes ago but "not to worry" because she was just talking to her son over the phone to pass the time. Dylla mentions that her son can be such a worrywart sometimes. "He was reminding me to stay safe and to let you know that he'll be on your ass if you make me sad," Dylla says with a laugh. "Oh my, I'd better not let your smile waver then," Lilia replies easily.

While they're looking over the menus, Lilia mentions his own "prodigious" cooking. (According to him, his son Silver just can't get enough of it!! Once, Silver took one bite and immediately passed out from how "good" it was.) "It's a required skill for single parents," Dylla agrees. "I can cook myself, but mainly simple dishes. My Deuce enjoys eggs, so I usually make things with those. It helps that they're cheap and keep for a long time too." (She says that she'd love to try his food, and in return she'll make something for him too! They make a promise to get to it someday.)

They settle on ordering the same item: Starry Night Spaghetti, a plate of spaghetti with meatballs. (There’s a story that two dogs once had the same dish under the stars, and became closer than ever as a result!) “A shame we aren’t eating outside—then we’d be bonded just like the canine couple,” Lilia says.

During the wait for their food, they exchange crazy stories about their lives. Lilia shocks Dylla with tales of his travels and of his past as a war veteran (although he's a little vague about the details), and Dylla tells him all about her days as an ex-delinquent and biker chick. "Kufufu, looks can be quite deceiving," Lilia chuckles. "No one would dare suspect such sweet-faced people like us to be so troublesome~"

Of course, they also share stories about their sons! Who can forget when Deuce used to wear all those rabbit-themed clothes as a kid? How about the time Silver fought a family of bears and came out of the battle with three new friends?

Lilia scootches his seat closer so he can show off some pictures of him and Silver on his phone! Dylla's shoulder presses against Lilia’s as she leans in to look, squishing the two into their own personal bubble, seemingly putting them in a world far away from the noisy pizzeria.

They decide to take pics together to commemorate the date! Dylla learns a lot of things from Lilia (like flipping the camera lenses to take better selfies, how to use the timing feature, and what filters do). They take a normal picture, then one with silly faces (Lilia’s suggestion) and a third with silly poses (also Lilia’s suggestion).

He busts out his bagpipes at some point to romance her with a romantic (?) serenade. Lilia does a little jig with it—something he threw together on the spot with knowledge of different styles of dancing from various cultures. The other customers mistake him for a paid performer and start clapping along and cheering—and Dylla joins in, clapping and cheering the loudest of them all.

Lilia starts to ask if they’d like an encore, if and so, which instrument? Mandolin or accordion? He can play them all! A member of the wait staff comes over to gently ask that Lilia put away his instruments, so then Lilia tries to sing without any musical accompaniment: “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, thaaat’s amoreeeeee 🎵”

He gets shut down a second time because, “Sir, your screeching is making the children at the next table over cry.” (Dylla gets a real kick out of Lilia’s enthusiasm though! “I can’t remember the last time a man was passionate enough to sing his heart out, consequences be damned!”)

When the food finally arrives, they realize that the chef must have made a mistake—there’s one plate of spaghetti, as though both of their orders were combined onto a single massive serving. But hey, Lilia’s willing to roll with it and just eat off the same plate. “What do you know, it’s family style!” he jokes. “In the Land of Crimson Long, it’s common for restaurants to serve food this way. You just pick out the portion you want to serve yourself.”

So that’s just what they do—stabbing their forks into the spaghetti at opposite ends and eating from that. Lilia’s appetite is healthy (he’s getting sauce on his mouth and is sucking up the noodles with such speed that a stray one slaps him in the face), but Dylla's got something on her mind.

She keeps winding her spaghetti around and around on her fork, lost in thought and doubts. Dylla wonders about a great deal of things. When is the right time to introduce this man to Deuce? How would he take it, especially when he’s gone without a father for his whole life? Was she even deserving of another husband, and someone as wonderful as Lilia?

Dylla absentmindedly brings the noodles to her mouth. There’s a slight tug at the other end (a stubborn clump, maybe?) but she pays it no mind, far too fixated on her thoughts. She doesn’t realize what’s happening until she feels something on her lips—and finds Lilia’s wide-eyed stare trained on her.

They hurriedly pull back from one another, and from the spaghetti-stained kiss. Dylla's slightly panicked and profusely apologetic, but Lilia reassures her that it’s fine, neither of them were anticipating it—and if anything, the guilt is split 50-50! “Guess we’ll both have to be sentenced for our grave crime!”

“… Oh, one moment. You have something here.” Lilia runs a thumb along the margins of Dylla's lower lip. It’s just some stray spaghetti sauce and lipstick smudges, but the gesture, however small, feels very tender and intimate, even moreso than the kiss. His hand lingers for maybe a second longer than it should have, but he, at last, retreats with a playful grin. “There you are, good as new.”

They fistfight to be the first one to the bill (their reasoning being, “it must be hard for you as a fellow single parent, let ME foot the full thing!”). Being fae, Lilia has the advantage with superior strength and speed, but Dylla gives him a good run for his money. They fight ends with Lilia headlocking his date and seizing the check in his mouth, puncturing the paper with his fangs.

Before any wallets can be opened, their (deeply exasperated) waiter asks them to “please just leave”, not even caring if they pay or not. (He doesn’t get paid enough to deal with shenanigans like this 💦)

They exit Tony’s and enter the night. There’s a full moon out to illuminate their way as they walk to Dylla's waiting magical wheel. As she produces her keys, Lilia tucks the red rose that had been with them at heir dining table behind her left ear. “May the Night guide you,” he says cryptically. Dylla isn’t sure what it means, but it makes the heat rise to her cheeks anyway. He sure knows how to sweet talk, his way into someone’s heart.

She asks Lilia where his ride is and he nonchalantly says that he “flew in”, which just leaves her slack jawed (until he cracks yet another classic Dad Joke with, “and boy, are my arms tired!”). “Well, if you’re up for it, I’d love to give you a lift home,” Dylla offers. “There’s plenty of room for another person.”

“If you could take me to Silver’s dorm, that would be great—but how scandalous! We disturb the public peace, don’t pay for our meal, then make a quick getaway on a motor vehicle?” Lilia climbs aboard, looping his arms around his date. “I think we’re shaping up to be quite the criminal couple.”

Dylla revs up her magical wheel, which lets out a monstrous groan. They peel off and merge into the road, racing the stars and sky that housed them, their peals of laughter filling the night. It was definitely one to remember.

Retrospective on Steve Leonard: the essay

There are some notions I want to make before I deep-dive into the subject itself. First of all, this is a retrospective focusing on the manga version of Steve. From what I heard, Takahiro Arai clearly wrote and drew Steve in a more sympathetic light. If you are strictly a novel reader, take everything I write with a grain of salt.

Second, I have never read novels. I don't have all the details of the character, interests, and past. I use the details that I have heard of, but I try to keep this mainly focused on the manga version of Steve. An exception to this is the short story “An Essay on Vampires by Steve Leonard” which I have read and will refer to.

Third, this touches only on Steve shown in the first volume and alternate timeline. My sympathies don’t apply to the adult Steve for very obvious reasons.

With all that said, I hope you understand that this is my retrospective and is colored by my personal experiences and how I have understood Steve’s character.

Part 1: Establishing Steve’s personality and building the road from there

Steve is a 12-year-old boy who is admired by his peers for his smarts and witty words, but also a bit feared by his friends and foes alike due to his unpredictable and occasionally violent nature. Steve is also a headache to adults and teachers due to not fitting into the mold, but he is also shown to be a bit of a teacher’s pet.

Smart and good at reading social situations, but also a sore thumb out who nobody can predict. I’m pretty confident to say that this is what you get when you read the first volume of the manga. Now, what do these personality traits mean together?

He is someone who revels in his obsession with monsters, particularly vampires, and doesn’t hide it. However, this can’t be counted on ignorance, as Steve is better at lying and reading social cues than kids normally are at his age. The more likely option is that Steve is actively aware that his heavy obsession with his interest isn’t normal, and is something people look at him weirdly for. This interpretation is the brick that I will base this house on that is this Steve analysis.

Steve is also hard to predict. It could mean that he will do things that would go over the heads of his peers and adults, even if Steve himself has a reasonable thought process for them. This could also mean that obvious rules and manners taught to other kids by adults are absent in Steve’s thought process, hence he thinks out of the box and breaks the invisible moral barriers easily. I’m betting on the mix of both of them, so put a pin on them too.

So now we have picked up Steve’s base traits and the implications of those together. I think we are good to go.

Part 2: Establishing Steve’s home life and continuing the road

Steve’s family doesn’t get much of a spotlight, and a lot of things are left up to interpretation. However, combined with the previously established personality traits and some known facts, we have enough to get the general gist of things.

It’s clear from the get-go that Steve and his mother don’t have a warm relationship. Steve outright says that his mother doesn’t care about him. She doesn’t clean Steve’s room by the looks of it and isn’t too keen on pressuring his whereabouts. Steve has seen at least 50 vampire movies and he is only 12 years old: any other parent would be mildly concerned over the content that he consumes. As we also earlier discussed, Steve’s actions show that there was no one to scold him whenever he did something inappropriate. However, it is shown that the mother is thoughtful when Darren comes to visit and is deeply upset when Steve gets taken to the hospital.

So Steve’s mother is thoughtful but neglectful. Then, for Steve to think that his mother doesn’t care about him means that his mother has not shown interest in the sole thing that’s important to Steve. To top all of this, Steve is shown to be highly imaginative and troublesome because of that (as the ketchup and plastic bat on sheets prove). The discussion on Steve’s thought process being obscure also comes into play here.

So, his mother finds Steve hard to handle because she doesn’t understand her son. If the mother doesn’t have the energy or time to try to understand her son, no wonder Steve might misunderstand her being dismissive and non-caring of him. This ends up with Steve distancing himself because their interactions end in miscommunication and the mother giving more space. After all, she doesn’t want to upset Steve more. It’s a vicious cycle that has made Steve resent his mother and his mother give up on him. They have never talked heart-to-heart.

There is barely anything told about Steve’s father. However, the final volume has Steve treating Mr. Tiny as his father the moment he learns the truth and he pleads for help. For him to do something so vulnerable and “out of character” shows how Steve had yearned for the visible affection of a family member until the bitter end.

Part 3: Steve lives in society too, the road continues still

That kind of purpose attracts those who go by flow and don’t have too high of ambitions: Tommy, Allan, and Darren.

However, Darren is the only one who genuinely asks about them and is willing to consume comics and movies. He remembers the things Steve tells him and shows that he is invested in what Steve likes. That’s the single thing that Steve ever wanted from his mother and any other possible adult. In a world where he feels alienated and mistreated by humanity as a collective, Darren is the only person that he feels genuinely seen by. He can be enamored by what he loves and Darren would listen.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration that Darren is the most important person in Steve’s life. A 12-year-old as invested as he wouldn’t want anything as much as somebody to listen to him seriously and even offer their own insight into the topic. Even if Darren’s existence in his life doesn’t heal the root of his loneliness and won’t change his mindset, Darren is the only one Steve can be around truly himself and still feel understood. Steve is at this point emotionally dependent on Darren.

Part 6: Steve is emotionally dependent on Darren and that is no-good

Remember when I mentioned Steve's need to control one of his friends? It’s not exactly as straightforward as actually controlling Darren’s movements. Steve trusts Darren a lot to the point where he confides his actual fantasies and wishes to him. However, all of this thought of being unloved and unwanted has sent his self-esteem to rock bottom. He doesn’t believe that Darren would even miss him that much in the end if he were to be gone, as he would have people to replace Steve. He wouldn’t be able to do that though if Darren were to go.

This is why Steve panics notably when he notices that Darren is acting weird and distancing himself. He had never expected such a situation to happen and it makes Steve act irrational. What would he do if the only person he can confide in abandons him? It makes Steve lose control and feel powerless simply because he is that much dependent on Darren’s existence in his life.

Because of this, he ends up trying to strangle Darren to gain some sense of control over his situation. However, he ends up breaking into tears when he realizes what he did to his best friend who was just as scared and confused. Steve jumping to conclusions immediately and regarding Darren as someone against him is simply his reaction to regain control over the new, looming abandonment. Spinning an idea that Darren was rotten from the start, as was everyone else, would make Steve feel like it wasn't the fault of his own actions that Darren abandoned him. Rather, Darren had bad intentions from the start and Steve was just a victim. This idea is especially reinforced by how Steve tries to egg Darren to “show his true self” during the showdown in the theater in the 11th volume.

The reason why Steve doesn’t spin this sort of idea over anyone else is simply that he is too dependent on Darren. As mentioned, he couldn’t take the hit if Darren were to abandon him. There would be nobody else to blame but himself for it: no matter how he dreams to become a monster, all Steve truly wants is acceptance and understanding. Darren going out of his way to abandon Steve would be too much for Steve whose self-esteem is in the deep end already. This inability to fully trust Darren because Steve has no high regard for himself is what makes their relationship unbalanced and Steve so desperate to have control over Darren.

Part 7: Why things went as they did

Things wouldn’t have spun so out of control if Larten Crepsley hadn’t rejected Steve so harshly. For someone who had dreamed of becoming a monster for so long, it hurt Steve to an extent where he even shed some tears. The thought that his best friend sided with a monster who rejected Steve harshly just sounds too much of a convenient accident in his head. All the things discussed before lead to this moment where Steve spun a story in his head out of desperation and panic. Because of feeling contempt towards those that had abandoned him rather than looking for their approval, his resentment only grew.

Later on, he had expressed that the story he made up sounds unbelievable, but at that point, it wasn’t about if it was true or not. No matter the reason, Steve would’ve been hurt over Darren leaving him and feeling only anger. With this reasoning, he at least personally felt like he wasn’t at fault and gained some control over the situation.

On the other hand, in the alternative timeline, Darren’s worry and clear panic were the things that sobered Steve from his hurt and anger. It shows that he only needed some assurance that there would be someone who would be genuinely hurt like Steve would be if he were to leave. We don't know how things went on from there, but I would like to believe that maybe Steve would be able to let go of his contempt towards humanity and finally start the process of gaining self-esteem and healing from loneliness. At least he could trust Darren more if nothing else.

TL;DR

Thanks to low self-esteem and the feeling of being unloved, Steve started to feel contempt towards humanity and coped with that by fantasizing about becoming a monster and killing people. Critters and Insects of Ikune

I have been thinking for a while on what kind of creatures would exist in Ikune. Of course there is plenty of the more ordinary animals, insects, birds, fishes and so on but what about more unusual ones? I considered this and after some pondering, I began to write out some of the ones that can be found in Ikune, so here it is: Critters of Ikune

For now the page just contains a few insects and a lizard, but in the future I might either update the page or split it up as I come up with more things to put on it.

Sapflies

Sapflies are small, colorful insects that feeds on sweet sap that comes from ripe fruits such as magoes, papayas and the like. When the sapfly feeds on the fruit, it loses some of its juicyness and sweetness, while the sapfly takes on a color similar to that of the fruit. The sapfly metabolizes the sap into a jam-like substance which can be harvested from the bugs, though if one waits until the sapfly naturally secretes it, the substance will become honey-like and be far sweeter, at the cost of there being much less of it.
