Hello! This is my first time with request, so if I'm doing something wrong, let me know. I noticed there is no Bumblebee Movie request, so I'll go with this one. The Ex-Decepticon abandoned the cause before Cybertron became unliveable because the Decepticons used to fight for equality became power-hungry. The Ex-Decepticon got to Earth years earlier in the middle of the human war - World War 2. The Ex-Decepticon helps the humans to prevent the same fate as their home planet. Years later, they saw Bumblebee getting dragged away by the military, the Ex-Decepticon stops them and vouch for Bumblebee and the Autobots and helped Bumblebee fight against Shatter and Dropkick. The Ex-Decepticon got killed in the end when they sacrificed their life to save Charlie's life. Their last words are, "I see humans in us...don't let them suffer the same fate as us," before they passed away. What does Bumblebee and Charlie feel about the Ex-Decepticon? Please and thank you.
OH... oh...
Haven't done one of these before, so this is a first! I will warn you the water works might come on while reading this. You have been warned!
Hope you enjoy!
Ex-Con Bot Buddy sacrificing themselves to save Charlie and Bumblebee
SFW, Angst, some comfort at the end, Buddy isn't making out of this alive (you have been warned!), Platonic, Familial, Cybertronian reader
The Bumblebee Movie
Buddy didn’t think they’d ever escape war.
Not even when they left Cybertron to find a planet to meet up with the rest of the Autobots, they were taken in only to fight in another war. A war that shook the world, literally.
Thankfully they made friends with the local natives of the planet. They were kind enough to offer a place for Buddy to take refuge, as long as they’d help out a bit with their war.
“What’s today’s mission Chief?”--Buddy
“Covert mission. You think you can handle it?”--Soldier
“Does Starscream want to rule the Decepticons?”--Buddy
“Ummm…”--Soldier
“Oh, sorry my bad. I’m good to go.”--Buddy
“You’re sure a strange one, alien.”--Soldier
“Oh, we’re on nicknames now. Chief I’m hurt.”--Buddy
“You started it! You literally started it!”--Soldier
“Maybe I did Burns. Now c’mon we aren’t going to smoke these Panzer tanks!”--Buddy
“If we get out of here alive I’ll make you my kid’s godparent.”--Soldier
“Neat. What’s a godparent?”--Buddy
“If I die your taking care of the little Burns at home with the Mrs.”--Soldier
After the war, the soldier was nice enough to let Buddy continue to live with him and his family. And yes, Buddy did get to become the godparent of the little one. Sector 7 would also house Buddy, but they felt more at home with their makeshift family.
Things were looking up for Buddy.
Buddy lived longer than their friends and loved ones on this planet. They buried each of their friends in private with their family.
Now in 1987, Buddy was staying and working with their godson.
“Hey kid—”--Buddy
“Agent Burns. Buddy we’ve talked about this.”—Agent Burns
“Okay then Agent Burns.”--Buddy
“Don’t say it like that.”—Agent Burns
“Then how do you want me to say it?”--Buddy
“Not like that!”--Agent
“Yeah I know, just messing with ya kid.”--Buddy
“How did you become my godparent?”—Agent Burns
“You want me to tell the story again?”--Buddy
“Wait no—”—Agent Burns
“It all started one drizzly day—”--Buddy
Buddy was out of the state when Bumblebee landed on Earth.
Never had Buddy sped down the highway when they heard Agent Burns’ message about a mechanical being that looked like Buddy on Earth.
“Buddy, this is Agent Burns.”—Agent Burns
“What’s up kid.”--Buddy
“Don’t—never mind, we have a situation down in the Bay.”—Agent Burns
“And, how does this concerns me how?”--Buddy
“We have a robot being that may or may not be related to your race of alien.”—Agent Burns
Tire screech.
“Buddy?!”—Agent Burns
“Wait what?! Describe them!”--Buddy
“Um… small yellow robot, mouth guard, doorwings, and… I think antennae.”—Agent Burns
“Wait, Burns this is a serious question. Does the bot have huge innocent looking blue optics—I mean eyes?”--Buddy
“Yeah—”—Agent Burns
“Oh, Primus almighty! I’m getting over there right now! Don’t hurt him!”--Buddy
“What?”—Agent Burns
“I said don’t—”--Buddy
Call ended.
“Oh… Oh Primus…”--Buddy
When they made it just in time to see a familiar looking scout holding a human female protectively in his servos as the army had circled around him. And their godson in the front.
“GET THE PITS AWAY FROM HIM!”--Buddy
“Buddy?!”—Agent Burns
“Agent Burns stand down!”--Buddy
“What—”—Agent Burns
“Stand down!”--Buddy
“There’s another you?”—Charlie
“Hi kids.”—Buddy
“Hi?”—Charlie
Bee waving cautiously and confused.
“…Stand down.”—Agent Burns
“Sir, you can’t seriously listen to—”—Random soldier
“Soldier, do you want to finish that sentence.”—Agent Burns
“…”—Random soldier
“That’s what I thought. Stand down.”—Agent Burns
It was a small reunion between them and B-127, as Buddy quickly realized that he had sustained head trauma and couldn’t recall most of his memory banks yet. Not until the full repairs had been placed. Buddy nearly chewed out Powell and some of the other generals for not contacting them before and for even giving Shatter and Dropkick any access to Earth communication systems.
“You’re telling me, while I was out of state for the first time in 15 years, you not only managed to get in contact with other Cybertronians; openly planned their extermination within ear shot; believed everything they said without taking it with a grain of salt; give them access to your satilites; let one of them seduce Powell—”--Buddy
“She didn’t seduce me!”--Powell
“Shatter seduced you Powell don’t lie to me. I’m having a talk with you later about that.”--Buddy
“But…”--Powell
“And on top of everything you all didn’t think about calling me about this?! Their names are ‘Decepticons’ for crying out loud! How did you not see the giant red flags waving in front of your faces!?”--Buddy
“Are you done?”—Agent Burns
“… When I’m done talking to Powell, I’m having a talk with you too kid.”--Buddy
“Why me?!”—Agent Burns
“ ‘Cause you didn’t tell me you went face to face with Blitzwing crying out loud! Though he did let himself go from the last time… kind of looks like Screamer.”--Buddy
Buddy made quick friends with the female, Charlie Watson. Thankfully, Buddy was able to access the rest of B-127’s memory banks after a bit of tampering with his processor.
That’s when the proper reunion happened.
“Hey kid.”--Buddy
Bee hugging Buddy.
Buddy gently hugging back.
“When this situation with Shatter and Dropkick is over, I’ll see what I can do about that voice box B-127.”--Buddy
“His name is Bumblebee.”--Charlie
“Oh, that’s the name you’re going by now?”--Buddy
Bee nodding.
“Well humans do have a habit of giving us names. Might as well continue some of the tradition, right?”--Buddy
“Wait so your name isn’t Buddy?”--Charlie
“No, not my original name. I don’t go by that name any more… it brings too many bad memories. Besides ‘Buddy’ is a much better sounding name than my old name.”—Buddy
“How did you know who those Con’s were? —Charlie
“… I used to know them. I used to be a Con, actually. I was fighting for change on our planet. Our planet’s government didn’t care for any of us. The Cons had the right platform at first. Change to make sure equality was spread to every class. But as the war went on, the goals suddenly changed from equality to having the most power. I didn’t want to be a part of a team that didn’t lookout for the little guy. So, I switched sides.”--Buddy
“Wow… I didn’t know.”--Charlie
“Heh, you’re not the only one Kid. Now let’s get back to fixing these chambers.”--Buddy
“You’re the boss Buddy.”--Charlie
“I know I am Charlie.”--Buddy
Together, the two bots started gearing up for the final fight.
It ended up with the pair of Autobot’s splitting up to cover more ground.
Bee would go after Dropkick while Buddy would go after Shatter.
Everything was going how it should have.
Things were looking up for them.
Buddy should have learned their lesson by now.
But nothing good ever lasts long.
Shatter had spotted Charlie and let out a round of fire to the human girl.
Buddy didn’t think twice when they moved to cover Charlie.
They quickly shielded Charlie’s body over there’s as the hail of rounds began tearing their body. Charlie started screaming in terror seeing what the blaster was doing to her friend.
“GAH!”--Buddy
“Buddy!”--Charlie
“It’s okay—AHH!—It’s okay, Charlie.”--Buddy
“No, no, no, no, no!”--Charlie
“Close—HURGH—Close your eyes kid. Close your eyes.”--Buddy
“BUDDY!”--Charlie
The screams were heard by Bee who had just finished off Dropkick. The scout tackled the Decepticon, beginning their fight.
Buddy felt as if their entire frame was on fire. Slowly they onlined their optics seeing a teary-eyed Charlie beneath them with some minor scratches on her face from the debris.
“You okay Kid?”--Buddy
“Y-yeah. I’m fine. But you’re not! You need help!”--Charlie
“Yeah—AARRGH!”—Buddy
Buddy weakly pushed themselves back, landing roughly on their back letting out a painful scream. The holoicons flash dangerously before their optics.
They knew.
They knew it was time.
They could barely feel the tiny hands on their faceplate looking at a shaking vision of Charlie.
Her words were muddled, but Buddy was concentrating on the little bits of warmth those little hands offered as their frame rapidly began cooling down.
Suddenly their helm was raised a bit.
Bee had raised their helm into his lap looking at them with those pleading optics to hang on.
But Bee knew.
Charlie knew.
“Hey now, its okay. It’s okay.”--Buddy
“No, it’s not!”--Charlie
“My—friend to the end.”--Bumblebee
“Couldn’t have said it better myself Bee.”--Buddy
“Buddy!”—Agent Burns
“Agent Burns!”--Charlie
“No, no, no! We need a medic! Someone get a medic here now! Someone--”—Agent Burns
“Burns… we both know I’m not going to last long. And here I was starting to think I was going to… bury the last of my family alone. I’m just sorry you’ll be doing…that.”--Buddy
“Its… it’s been an honor serving by your side Buddy.”—Agent Burns
“Likewise Burns… couldn’t have asked for a better godson. Bee…”--Buddy
“Yes—anything—my friend.”--Bumblebee
“I see humans in us… don’t let them suffer the same fate as us… can you do that?”--Buddy
“Yes—goodbye my friend—goodbye—Buddy.”--Bumblebee
“…”--Buddy
“Buddy?”--Charlie
“…”--Buddy
“Sleep well soldier. Your war is over now.”—Agent Burns
Buddy was given a proper funeral at dawn. Agent Burn, Charlie with her family, Bumblebee, and a few soldiers that were close friends of Buddy attended. Bumblebee took their spare Autobot badge with him before leaving. From there everyone parted their ways.
When Bee and Charlie parted ways, they both kept a comm link between the two. Charlie would leave for her garage to finally fix her father’s car, while remembering her friend’s smile.
When Bumblebee eventually reunited with the Autobots on Earth, he mentioned Buddy’s valiant stand against the Decepticon’s and how they fell protecting their human friend.
Bee was going to keep his promise to Buddy. These humans were not going to suffer the same fate as they did.
Not while he was around.

No Room to Breathe~ Harrison Gray
Tumblr media
Chapter 1
This a fan translation so it is definitely not 100% accurate. I do not own anything related to Ikemen Villains. Support Cybird by buying their amazing stories!
No Warnings for this part
Part 1 | Part 2 | Premium End | Epilogue
Tumblr media
Kate: “Okay. This mission was completed successfully.”
Kate: “…So, why were you laughing earlier?”
Tumblr media
Harrison: “Remember when you tied up the criminal with a rope?”
Kate: “I wanted to be useful to you, Harry.”
(…Now that I think about it, I might have been a little too brave.)
In addition to being a fairy tale master, I am also Harry’s lover.
No matter what I do, I’m always worried about whether my lover sees me as a lover.
Kate: “Um, Harry.”
Harrison: “Hmm?”
Kate: “Would you like for me to be a little more ladylike?”
Harrison: “…”
Tumblr media
Harrison: “Well, what do you think?”
Kate: “You’re so quick to dodge—”
Kate: “oof…”
After a sudden thud, I turned around and saw a child with a red waistcoat and a red nose looking up at me.
Child: “I-I’m sorry! I wasn’t looking ahead.”
Kate: “No, I’m sorry.”
Kate: “Did you get hurt? Are you okay?”
Child: “…N-no.”
Harrison: “Hey, are you handing out flyers? Is it for a travelling circus?”
Ferris Circus Child: “I’m a member of the Ferris Circus. We’re in this area now.”
Ferris Circus Child: “I’ll give this flyer to you. If you like, the two of you can come and play with me. Bye!”
The child disappeared like the wind, leaving only a flyer with a gorgeous picture on it.
(…A travelling circus?)
(Does that mean we can only see it now? That’s great, it looks like fun…)
Harrison: “Do you want to go see it now? Are you interested?”
Kate: “Eh? I didn’t say anything just now, right?”
Harrison: “I know you and I know your heart. Come on, let’s go.”
Kate: “Huh…”
I looked at Harry’s profile as he walked away, holding my hand, and I smiled involuntarily.
(I’m really looking forward to the circus and the unscheduled date with Harry.)
(Wow…!)
As we step into the tent where colorful flags are hoisted high,
It feels as if we had wandered into another world.
Tumblr media
Harrison: “Wow, the interior of a touring circus is so neat.”
Victor: “It’s true! The Ferris Circus is indeed very popular.”
Kate: “Victor!” – Harrsion: “…Victor.”
Harrison: “Why are you here?”
Victor: “I’m in a fun place, come on!”
Victor: “How lucky I am to be able to meet you cute people in a place like this.”
Tumblr media
Victor: “Harrison, don’t you think we’re connected by fate?”
Harrison: “I don’t want to be doomed with you. Shit, don’t hug me…”
Victor: “I love you, even if you’re a bit of a bore. Ah, Kate. Here’s some popcorn. And a drink!”
Kate: “Fufu, thank you. As expected of you Victor, you are fully prepared.”
Harrison: “Don’t take advantage of him like that. That’s why he’s such a nutter.”
Victor: “I’m famous for my modesty. I like to be taken advantage of.”
A fanfare rang out as Harry and Victor had their customary argument.
Leader of Ferris Circus: “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls!”
Leader of Ferris Circus: “Prepare to be amazed! Tonight, we bring you a spectacular show.”
Leader of Ferris Circus: “We are ready to show off our captivating acts. Bringing you the ultimate excitement and surprise. Showtime!”
Kate/ Victor: “Wow…!”
Starting with that signal, performers demonstrated acrobatics and juggling tricks,
Soaring through the air.
Tumblr media
Harrison: “Pfft, haha. Your eyes are twinkling, you look like a child.”
Kate: “Uh, because it’s amazing! Oh, look there’s a lion over there too.”
Leader of the Ferris Circus: “Now, next up is the appearance of the very popular Oliver!”
A boy with braided red hair called Oliver appears with his arms outstretched.
Oliver: “My special skill is that I can easily undo any kind of handcuffs or ropes.”
Oliver: “I’m going to put these handcuffs on someone here now.”
Oliver: “And I’ll remove them in an instant. Now, who would like to help me!”
Tumblr media
Victor: “Yes, yes, yes, these cute lovers would like to participate.”
Kate/ Harrison: “What!?”
Harrison: “Hey, you can’t just—”
Victor: “You have to get up on stage as soon as possible. Have a good time!”
Oliver: “Hello! My greatest thanks to these devoted lovers. Now, here we go…”
There was a clicking sound, and my right hand and Harrison’s left hand were handcuffed together.
Then a brightly colored cloth was draped over the handcuffs—
Oliver: “Now to remove it, abra cadabra alakazam, and that’s it!”
(Th-that…?)
(…isn’t it coming off?)
Instantly, a storm of boos broke out in the venue.
Oliver: “W-What? I’m sorry, I’ll take it off now. Oh, the key… I don’t have it? Huh”
Harrison: “…Give me a break.”
--Crown Common Room
William: “—So, you return still tethered. That was a disaster.”
Liam: “Really. So, you couldn’t find the key after all?”
Kate: “Yes, that’s right. Moreover, the Ferris Circus is leaving here tomorrow…”
Harrison: “So, tomorrow we’re going to go look for the key. For now, we’ll just stay like this.”
Liam: “Al is an expert at picking locks, but it looks like he’s gone somewhere.”
Harrison: “…That guy, gets involved when he’s not wanted, but he’s not here when he’s needed.”
Liam: “But, it’s not all bad. If you’re connected, you’ll always be together, right?”
Liam: “It’s true whether you’re awake or asleep.”
Liam’s meaningful smile made my heart skip a beat.
(…I see, it might be fun to be together 24/7)
Tumblr media
Harrison: “Are you thinking of something naughty?”
Kate: “I-I’m not thinking anything naughty! Please don’t make such strange comments.”
Harrison: “Hmmm, am I thinking about it though?”
Victor: “I would appreciate it if you would think about me at least a little bit, Harrison.”
Kate: “Wah…!”
Harrison: “So many times today… is today a bad day or something?”
Victor: “On such a bad day, the Grim Reaper, or rather, Her Majesty, has a mission for Harrison and Kate.”
Victor: “The stage for this mission is the Ferris Circus.”
Liam: “Eh, that’s the circus Harry and his friends went to earlier, right?”
Victor: “Ah, apparently the leader fosters and protects children who have no relatives as performers.”
Victor: “—But that’s just the surface.”
Harrison: “…”
Victor: “There are rumors behind the scenes, they are using these children for his own gain and making them do bad things.”
William: “They help children who have no relatives and train them to obey. So much so that they can’t even refuse to commit sins.”
William: “The leader is not only a trainer for the animals, but also for the children.”
(Train the children…ah)
Kate: “When the boy named Oliver made a mistake, his hands were shaking really bad.”
Victor: “I also thought there was ‘something’. They had eyes that were far from freedom.”
The air surrounding Victor felt frozen, like a dark blue night.
Tumblr media
Harrison: “The mission is to see it with my own eyes and find out what’s wrong with it. And if I find it to be evil, I’ll condemn the leader, right?”
Victor: “Ah, that’s right. You can find the keys and complete the mission. You can kill two birds with one stone!”
(There were a lot of small children in that circus group. I can’t overlook it.)
Liam: “But is it okay if it’s just the two of them? They are handcuffed together right now.”
Liam: “Can I disappear and stay with Harry and Kate?”
Harrison: “You were so excited about an important practice you have tomorrow.”
Liam: “That’s true…”
Kate: “We’ll just accept your sentiments. Thank you, Liam.”
Harrison: “The key is bound to be somewhere. Don’t worry, I’ll remove it as soon as I find it.”
Liam: “Okay, I understand. B-but if something happens, I’ll come running right away.”
Tumblr media
Harrison: “Damn, you’re being overprotective, Yeah, yeah, I understand.”
Victor: “As I asked. Harrison, Kate.”
Kate: “Yes, then—”
Harrison: “Ah, then—”
At the same time, we stand up and start walking in the opposite directions.
Naturally, we were restrained by the handcuffs and we fell down on the spot.
Liam: “Wow, are you two alright? It won’t work if you walk in opposite directions.”
Kate: “…I was trying to go to the bathroom.”
Harrison: “I was trying to get a drink.
We stood up again, and again—we both fell.
Kate: “You’re going to get a drink, aren’t you?”
Harrison: “I tried to follow you to the bathroom.”
Kate: “For now, let’s catch our breath.”
Liam: “…is it really alright?”
Victor: “Kate is dynamic, and Harrison is static. Kate is the sun, and Harrison is night. They are actually opposites.”
--Kate’s room
After a night of being handcuffed, we awoke to the sound of birds chirping.
(…last night was really tough after that.)
I want to go out for an evening walk, and Harry wants to read a book in his room.
I want to have fun with everyone, and Harry wants to be alone and quiet.
At every turn, our behavior was the exact opposite, which as a result, meant we slept peacefully.
(Hm, Maybe, no, even if he is...)
(--Are we the exact opposite?)

Aislynn's Absolute Screaming, Crying, Flailing Thinky Thoughts About Halo s2ep8
Under the cut since its the finale and I don't want to be That Person who spoils a finale for anybody if I can help it 💖
First thing: KAI, my baby, noooooooooo
Tumblr media
Okay, do I love the Halo games? So much. So, so much. Did I know what actually adapting them would mean would happen in the live action show, especially since s2 clearly wanted to pull closer to the games? Yep.
Did I want to see characters I've come to love, appreciate or love to hate get infected by the Flood? HECK NO.
However, the fact that the Flood spores were much smaller than their game counterparts (Evil Cabbages with feet were my initial thought of them when I met them in Combat Evolved the first time 😂🤷‍♀️😉) was a definite win, IMO. Obviously they couldn't be germ-sized in game and you be able to shoot them. But just the visual of them being smaller and much more virus/germ-sized made them a bazillion times scarier because they felt more real in that way to me.
Why do I watch so many zombie things? Zombies FREAK ME OUT SO BAAAAAD, MAN. And the body horror, dude. Ohhhhh, I can't with the body horror and people getting mutated and... UGH. Yet I've made, like, half a dozen Alien/Prometheus vids. I AM A CONUNDRUM, what can I say? 🤷‍♀️😂
Now, ever since Vannak died, I've been trying to figure out how we can, you know, bring him back to the show. I still don't know how it could actually be done but one thing I do know is that KAI COULD TOTALLY BE FOUND INJURED BUT ALIVE. Her Mjolnir can protect her from deep space, so it could have totally protected her against a big KABOOM, too. Her body is intact, she wasn't vaporized or whatever, so that's my story and I'm sticking to it. *nodnods very seriously*
I think I'm going to have to either invent time travel or cloning to save Vannak, though. Give me a minute. 🤔😉
If we do get another season (or 2 or 5 😉), I'm wondering if they're really serious about Silver Team being gone, if we're going to get Blue Team, then? Mannnnn, I don't want Silver to be gone, though. I've fallen so in love with Kai, Riz and Vannak now, too!
I'm kinda glad that not-Thel!Arbiter wasn't Thel because that was a good ending to his storyline, with Chief's "I know what he said" and finishing him off. Obs, though, I don't want Thel to have met the same fate.
Makee's line about being a demon, too? That was a good one, yep. Still annoyed that John's first question to her last ep wasn't "Um, hi, nice to see you and how is it that you're alive?" That being unanswered was just one of those clearly "because we changed showrunners," things.
John and Cortana (now in his suit), together again, YESSSSS!!!
Hello, Guilty Spark! If this is Gravemind they're talking about, they NEED Dee Bradley Baker for the voice. Just, no question, don't even think of casting anybody else.
John doing that badass "fight through the smoke and haze to save the day" made my fangirl heart go pitter-pat, what can I say? I'm easy to please, lol!
In summary, I did love s2 in a different way than I loved s1 and I hope we'll get news of a renewal ASAP!
Also, Kai's fine, she's just having a little nap, no worries!

☆ ENCHANTED, featuring xiao — you were enchanted to meet him; and he was too.
contents. fem implied reader but can be read as gn, reader is referred to as “big sister” and “miss,” fluff ! ! , xiao is kinda ooc, cringe tbh >_< a chance encounter leads to so much more ♡ word count. 2.1k.
notes. welcome to my first ever writing post on tumblr !! i ofc had to start off my debut with my favorite person in the whole wide world, xiao ♡ this took awfully long to write ( and is an awfully long piece of writing itself ) so i apologize for the delay; but i hope that you will enjoy! :3
Tumblr media
i was enchanted to meet you. it was your favorite sentence in your treasured childhood storybook, titled 'the heart of qingxin.' written by an author from qingce village, it was about a princess who fell in love with an adeptus after he saved her.
as a child, your favorite stories were ones about the adepti, and about falling in love. they were your two biggest wishes in life; you've always dreamed of meeting one of the illustrious, illuminated beings some day, and experiencing the feeling of being in love. you longed to journey out from your hometown in order to find the love of your life, just like in the stories. it was safe to say that you were, quite frankly, a hopeless romantic.
unfortunately, it wasn't that easy to live the fantasy life. for one thing, your job at the bubu pharmacy meant that you were often stuck behind the shop counter; and for another, you've never actually met anyone that you deemed fit to fall in love with… you were also quite picky when it came to love.
but those troubles didn't stop the loom of fate to weave your future. for one day, not long ago, you ran into a small accident that may have led to a newfound friendship; and perhaps, in the future, that friendship could become something so much more.
the first time you met the vigilant yaksha was like something out of a fairy tale.
it was raining that one november morning; the fateful day that doctor baizhu asked you to accompany qiqi along on an herb-gathering expedition. you adored the little zombie girl, finding her quirkiness cute; plus, it meant that you could finally go out and explore the world! at least, part of it… either way, of course you accepted.
although, halfway through the journey, things went sideways. firstly, you’d forgotten to bring rain gear with you. qiqi offered to lend you her jacket, but it was too small anyway; so you just smiled and told her you’d be alright. unfortunately, you ended up catching a cold… secondly, as much as you love your little zombie companion, qiqi was absolutely terrible at directions; and you, having never been in the area before, didn’t know where to go either.
but the worst part of it was, the two of you just somehow managed to run into a group of treasure hoarders.
qiqi fended them off as best as she could, and though you tried to help her, you were just a healer; there was nothing quite else to do except toss a few poisonous concoctions at them. it worked for a while; but soon you were getting tired, and the treasure hoarders just kept coming.
“sorry, i think we’ve bit off more than we can chew with this one…” you muttered.
just then, a flash of green light sparked in the corner of your vision. you turned your head to see a figure shrouded in a dark aura, fighting off the treasure hoarders. you were mesmerized at how well the person fought; it was out of this world, supernatural almost. as if that person wasn’t really a human, but rather some sort of celestial being.
soon after, the treasure hoarders, scared out of their wits, scattered, leaving only you, qiqi, and the mysterious figure behind. with his back turned, the man removed some sort of mask from his face.
“i-i, thank you, sir,” you began, not sure what to say. “my companion and i, um, really appreciate your help…”
he didn’t answer. as you were about to go on, you suddenly felt a bit dizzy. you stumbled and had to lean against qiqi for support. the zombie girl was confused. “is big sister… okay?”
“i’m not feeling very well…” suddenly your vision spun, and a pair of golden eyes were the last thing you saw before you blacked out.
the sun was low in the horizon when you awoke. blinking, you slowly scanned your surroundings. you were laying on a bed in what seemed to be a hotel room. confused, you sat up and tried to pull back the blankets.
“woah there, take it easy, dear.”
you turned around with a start. sitting in a chair by the window was a young woman with brown hair, smiling softly at you.
“h-hello,” you stammered. “where am i?”
“you’re in wangshu inn, in the dihua marsh,” the woman replied. “my name is verr goldet, i’m the boss here. how are you feeling?”
“fine, thank you. my head hurts a little, but other than that i’m alright. um… is qiqi doing alright? and do you know what happened to me? i don’t remember much..”
the brown-haired boss paused, then replied, “the adeptus who brought you here told me that you collapsed shortly after a scuffle with the treasure hoarders. it seems that you were possibly poisoned- but don’t stress, it’s been extracted from your system. and your companion is perfectly fine. the little girl is helping with some tasks downstairs.”
“oh, okay…” you glanced down at your forearm, which was wrapped with a bandage. then your head popped up in surprise. “wait-! did you say an adeptus? was it the green-haired man? do you where he is?”
verr goldet chuckled. “ah, i do. he’s up on the roof’s balcony right now, if you’d like to go see him. just be careful, he can be a little… reserved around mortals.”
"i see… thank you for the warning. maybe a gift might make me appear more friendly?" you wondered out loud. "m-miss goldet, do you know what his favorite food is…?"
she laughed in reply, “as a matter of fact, he surprisingly has quite a sweet tooth. he loves almond tofu, to be particular. you can ask our chef downstairs to make a plate of it for you.”
“r-really?! thank you so much, miss goldet!” getting out of bed, you shook her hand, slid your shoes on, and hurried out of the room.
a while later, after discovering your way around the inn, you managed to find the kitchen. chef smiley yanxiao, a gruff but quite friendly man, prepared a dish of the sweet dessert for you to bring to the adeptus. with a rushed thanks, you couldn’t help but walk as fast as you could up the stairs to the roof level of the inn.
the moment you stepped on the balcony, you saw him.
turquoise-streaked hair, flowing in the wind. traditional liyuan clothing with ornamental details; sleeve of white silk on one arm, an intricate green tattoo on the other. the horned mask hanging from his waist; terrifying, yet awfully mesmerizing at the same time. everything about him was just that.
you couldn’t see his face from where you were standing behind him, but you imagined him to have a soft, handsome face. timidly, you approached him. “h-hello again…”
the man turned around, and you almost dropped the plate.
simply put, he was beautiful. strong, yet not too masculine facial features, a tiny purple diamond in the center of his forehead, and his eyes. oh, those eyes. they were a glowing shade of gold, like rays of sunlight peeking out from the clouds, or a rare piece of cor lapis found amidst the stone.
those amber eyes blinked at you before he replied, “oh, it’s you. you’re awake.”
“yeah, it’s me!” you grinned at him, suddenly not shy anymore. “i wanted to thank you for your kindness in saving me earlier,” you held the plate of almond tofu out to him. “chef yanxiao and i made this for you, i hope that you’ll enjoy it!”
there was a moment of hesitation before the man tentatively took it from your hands. “…there's no need to thank me, but i appreciate it.”
you laughed and turned to look up at the sky, where the sun was slowly fading into the night. “hey, you’re an adeptus, right? specifically, you are the yaksha guardian of dihua marsh, the conqueror of demons?”
“hm. i’m surprised you knew.” he muttered in reply, swinging a leg over the railing as he moved to sit. “what about it?”
“nothing bad, i promise!” you shook your head. “it's just that i, um, have read a lot of fairy tales about the adepti before… i never thought i'd meet one in person! and especially the conqueror of demons! you’re, um, one of my favorites from the stories. so, uh, apologies if i get overexcited around you, i'm just a bit in awe, ehe…"
"..."
"oh no, did i say too much? sorry, i’ll shut up now…" you covered your face with your hands, embarrassed.
it was silent for a few moments before he replied with an amused chuckle, “nobody has ever said that about me before. out of all of the humans i’ve met, you’re certainly the strangest; but i suppose you’re not all that bad, mortal.”
you weren’t sure what to say to that. “t-thanks, i guess? b-but anyway! like i said, i’ve read a lot of stories about the adepti, and, um, one of my favorites has an adeptus that reminds me of you…”
“mm.” was all he said in reply. but he scooted over a bit from where he was sitting on the balcony railing, inviting you to take a seat next to him.
all was quiet except for the rustling of the autumn leaves in the wind.
"have you heard the story of ‘the heart of qingxin?'" you asked him softly.
"the title sounds familiar, but i don't believe so," the adeptus replied. "go on, enlighten me. i'm curious to know what it is about this story that reminds you of me."
despite only knowing the man for barely a day, you were already feeling so happy talking to him. it was comfortable to know that he was willing to have you around. it seemed verr goldet’s warning wasn't quite true, after all.
“well, the ‘heart of qingxin’ tells the story of a kindhearted princess,” you began with a small smile. “she was just as beautiful as she was kind, and the kingdom adored her. one day…”
soon enough, you were reciting the entire story by memory. an hour felt like minutes, and before you knew it, the moon was already high up in the sky by the time you had finished telling your heart out.
"...and then they lived happily ever after!" you announced the last sentence of the story with a laugh. “so? did you like it?”
you turned to face the yaksha, who was still staring softly at you. he seemed at peace, something that you hadn’t seen in him before. perhaps it was the story? or maybe… the one who told it? your heart did a little butterfly flutter at the potential thought.
“i apologize, i’m not the best at expressing my emotions,” the adeptus started, fidgeting with the fork in his hand. “but… it was a beautiful story. i suppose i realize what it reminded you of… the adeptus who rescued the princess, it’s like how i saved you this morning, am i correct?”
“mhm!” you blushed. “sorry, i’m a little bit of a romanticist… my friends always tell me ‘you’re such a hopeless romantic, y/n-!’…”
that was when you realized that you had never introduced yourself properly to him. “oh-! i’m sorry, i never told you my name! it’s y/n. and you are?”
“you can just call me xiao,” the yaksha replied.
“xiao,” you repeated to yourself. the name felt perfect rolling off your lips. “it’s nice to meet you, xiao!”
for a second, you swore you saw him smile. “if you awake to a knife at your throat, if monsters dig their claws into you, if death comes knocking at your door… call out my name. adeptus xiao. i will be here when you call.”
“and… if i ever just want to talk to you? will you be here?”
“why would you… oh. you want to repay me for saving you, is that right?” xiao sighed, turning away. “look, you don’t owe me anything. saving mortals from the hands of darkness is my duty. but, if you really just want to 'talk to me,' i suppose spending some time with you once in a while wouldn't be so bad." he leaned closer as he said those final words.
then, with a cloud of green mist, he was gone.
you were left standing there on the balcony, staring up at the moon, with the moments of this fateful night lingering in your mind. you would never forget the memory of his golden eyes, the softness of his voice as he wished you goodbye.
i was enchanted to meet you, indeed.

For my prize, literally anything Inarizaki related💕
£ hcs of Inarizaki losing their kid(s) in a public or not so public area! enjoy!
tw: language, but sfw! :) children, mentions of kidnapping and abduction, panicking, & fluff! a name wheel decided the gender of the kids! tell me if I looked over something!

£ Happens at a festival, which has got to be the worst place to lose anything... EVER.
£ The thing is that he let go of his kid's hand to buy her she wanted from the vendor. Then, he turned around to give her the little Hello Kitty plushie she asked for and–
£ She wasn't there?!
£ The worst-case scenario is the first thing that comes to his mind:
£ His kid was just kidnapped! Somebody swooped her up and ran off!! >:0
£ Drops whatever he was doing and immediately starts calling her name.
£ Oh, man. how was he gonna tell you that he lost your kid?
£ Hold on, you were with them when she went missing.
£ Definitely takes him a while to realize you're not there either, but when he realizes, he deadass freaks out.
£ Cause they took you TOO?
£ They fr just abducted his little family???
£ Bro starts wailing and yodeling both of your names, and the bypassers are wondering why there's a grown ass man crying and holding a Hello Kitty plushie.
"Aran, what are you crying for?"
£ His head whips around so fast that he almost gets whiplash, and he runs over to scoop you both up in a big bear hug.
£ You could barely make out what he was saying through his hiccups, but you told him that you had to take your 4 year old to the bathroom because she had to use the bathroom.
£ He ultimately feels silly for crying over nothing and holds his little girl even tighter.
"Aw, dry your tears away, papa!"
£ For some reason, the tears fall even more.
£ Moral of the story: going to the bathroom is a family activity.

£ On his farm cause he becomes an extremely cautious parent once he steps off his property with his son.
£ He loses his kid in the most sensible way: playing hide-and-seek.
£ Ngl, he's a protective parent, so if he searches for the kid in 4 places and still can't find him, he starts getting anxious.
£ Once that happens, he calmly asks you to help him find him. He literally:
"Ya wanna help look for 'im, love? We should give 'im a good ticklin' when we find 'im."
£ Now, you think it's a game, but he's secretly on high alert. Heightened senses and all.
£ Saying he's on the prowl sounds crazy, but he's fr on the prowl. 💀💀
£ He's sniffing his son out like a wolf, and he's so close to his son’s hiding place.
£ The anticipation is getting to the 6 year old, and he stays hidden for as long as he can. Well, until his bladder betrays him.
£ The poor boy fr comes out from his hiding spot sloshing in his wellies.
"Um, dad. I... had an accident."
£ If you've played an intense game of hide-and-seek, you know what I mean.
£ Kita feels so BAD cause he hounded the urine out of his son, but at the same time, he's glad the boy wasn’t lost.
£ You both reassure him that it's okay and help him waddle to the house.
£ Big W for Kita.
M1Y4 4T5UMU
£ Dude would probably lose his kids in his own house.
£ Very clingy with his kids, so if they leave his sight for a second, he believes he lost them.
£ Just for the record, they're twins; one girl and one boy. Fate chose him.
£ He most likely lost his kids when he turned his back to them to fix them a snack. Then, he turned back around, and they had VANISHED.
£ One word to describe this man: HYSTERICAL.
£ Immediately, bro throws the snacks and frantically searches for them.
£ Cause where could they be?? How far could they go in that short time he'd turned around?
£ Checks nearly the whole house. Their bedrooms, the living room, the bathroom, and the kitchen. He even checks outside.
£ He comes back in after running himself ragged for at least an hour, but to no avail. That must mean...
£ EVIL SPIRITS CAME AND PREYED ON THEIR SWEET INNOCENT SOULS.
£ Yes, he's highly superstitious.
£ Ends up making the executive to march upstairs and consult with you.
£ He gets to your shared room and BURSTS through the door; almost slammed the shit off its hinges.
"Hun, they took 'em! Dammit! I warned 'em 'bout evil that dwells in the dark! The haints, sum'n paranormal!"
"Jeez, Atsu, can you quiet down? They just crashed. Tell me what the parnormal took with your inside voice."
£ Automatically notices that your kids are lying down with you, and all of his worries wash away.
£ He brushes the whole ordeal off his shoulder like a grain of salt and tells you nevermind.
£ This situation has occurred more than once.

Greetings!
Was wondering if you would consent/allow me to use your Out of Pocket Dust entity design for a story? (Dustverse)
And if yes, may I know more about him (if he has an AU) or be allowed to expand on the concept?
Absolutely feel free to say no or ignore this ask
Have a wonderful week!
ABSOLUTELY YOU CAN!!!! I love that we spawned the dustverse LMAO
also ok i’ll be so fr, he spawned into the world as i was drawing, and thus has no au
however, allow me to quickly Bs the concept, and if anyone’s interested i can actually polish it later hee hoo (also feel free to use whatever concepts you like, it doesn’t have to be related to this if you’d prefer i don’t mind ehehe)
DETRITUS/ COSMIC DUST GUY INFO BELOW ⬇️
Detritus Is a Low-Level deity, at least in the hierarchy of other deities he is involved with.
He is an anomaly by their standards, the death of a star gave birth to this child of decay, he is reluctantly taken in by the others
He is younger, around 8000 years old id say😔
Detritus doesn’t know much about lower level beings, as the knowledge he has access to is rather restricted, furthermore, he doesn’t quite know his place, as he is not often given tasks.
he also doesn’t know much about just. normal life. he’s been shown things on. a very large scale but never when you zoom in and see the small things
Other deities claim grand titles and roles, but he is but decay, leaving him with no actions to take and no purpose to fulfill. they perpetuate this inaction with excuses
he befriends a star. this star is considered a lower being. this star makes him question the validity of the hierarchy of beings he’s been taught.
he begins to question why they are considered “gods”. who put them in that place? are they not just self assigning these titles and using it to justify causing strife? who are they to dictate lives. however he isn’t really sure on any of this
at some point due to these thoughts (and or an action) his friend the star is disposed of, and he is cast out. he is told he will live amongst mortal beings, to witness for himself their vileness and wicked souls.
He is but dust cast to dust
so taking on a more normal form detritus, taking being called dust LITERALLY, now adopts a new form and name. (he’s a silly little guy)
he meets a few mortals (ahem ahem you can guess who) (i’ll expand later if this interests anyone)
he is lucky for this, as he has no idea how their lives work and would just end up with someone sending him to a lab to be dissected for his “inhuman” um, abilities.
instead of learning of mortals wickedness, he only experiences kindness. he’s a bit curious, he tends to take things literally, but if you say something that is opposing to what he’s been taught, he will assume it’s sarcasm.
he’s quite funny but he has a weird sense of humor.
he’s under the impression that he’s fated to destroy any relationship he might have and thus feels guilty for making ties. he also expects to be taken home eventually
(honestly. they just wanted to get rid of him. don’t tell him that.)
Detritus, now Dust, doesn’t really have a solid form, so the one he takes on isn’t really as restrictive as you’d think. His body could contort like some demon from hell out of nowhere and then be completely normal the next second. he has to be told not to do this.
When he first took on said form, he couldn’t figure out how the fuck to form hands. his hands were very deformed and gross looking so he hid them. one of the first mortals he meets is in for a horrific experience until he figures out how to properly project how a hand moves😭
um. oh also, i keep saying he, but they’re semi genderless and wouldn’t bat an eye if you called him literally anything else. i don’t think detritus really understands gender, just things
he’s very thoughtful about inner workings of the universe but then doesn’t know what the fuck a comb is and continuously throws his new friend for a loop
he’s kind of skittish, like a cat that wants to dip its toes into the water and then immediately runs and hides but. will do it again five minutes later.
he’d probably think a butterfly is like an angel to be worshipped if he saw one
he doesn’t think mortals are evil, he compares them to his experience with the star.
he’s not immortal either, he’s more of a demi god then anything
he begins to wonder if he even wants to go home, or if it is his home, after a while of living with these new companions around. there’s definitely going to be some runs in with government authorities and cryptid hunters :))
ANDDD all of this is subject to change if i actually clean this up, as i sped typed this with very little thought beforehand ok BYEEE anyone can ask questions if you have any somehow and i’ll bs more lore 😭

Chapter Twenty-Five: Twist of Fate
Alhaitham has the looks and the smarts. He will also be the stand-in CEO for his grandfather's company for a year.
But, he's been mysteriously cursed to turn into a cat every night since his eighteenth birthday… until he meets you, an employee at his grandfather's company, who rescues him as a cat and changes him back with one kiss.
Alhaitham/You

Chapter index at the end of chapter one
“I knew I recognized you from somewhere.”
You’ve just finished telling Alhaitham’s mother about what you do for work. While you touch upon your most recent accomplishments, Alhaitham swoops in, calmly gushing over that you are the creative genius behind Love in the Spotlight. Your face almost turns red at how much he’s doting on you.
His mother looks from him to you. “I can see it in his eyes. He’s in love with you. He even admitted it to me a few days ago.”
“You didn’t have to say it out loud,” Alhaitham says quietly.
“My, this is the first time I’ve seen you embarrassed, Haitham,” his mother says with a smile.
From underneath the table, you take your boyfriend’s hand. He looks at you, and you smile at him. Then, you feel him intertwine his fingers with yours.
“So, m’dear… what does your family do?” After you tell her about your mother, she asks, “And your father?”
"He's… not around anymore."
Alhaitham notices how his mother's gaze hardens and she subtly leans back. “I’m sorry to hear that. But, um, would you mind if I asked how he passed away?”
The story is something Alhaitham's heard before. It's the same as the one you told him and Kaveh many weeks ago. Alhaitham keeps his stare on his mother, noticing how her jaw clenches and the subtle movement of her thumb rubbing against the side of her index finger, a habit when she's nervous. Then, his stare also turns serious. It may not be strong evidence, but it may be enough to get something out of her.
Eventually, you excuse yourself for the washroom, and once you’re far enough, Alhaitham asks, “Mom… what are you hiding?”
The woman looks up from her steak. “Hiding? What are you talking about, Haitham?”
"...Let me start from the beginning. You invited Layla to this dinner and told her you were afraid my girlfriend might be using me. You said you never met her before, yet you already have such a bad impression of her. Why?"
She scoffs quietly with a small smile. “Because I’m worried about you… as your mother. No parent would want someone taking advantage of their child. You may be all grown up, but you’ll always be my little boy. I’m always going to worry about you.”
“...I understand that. But you didn’t answer my question. You’ve never met her… until now.”
She sighs and crosses one leg over the other. "...Okay. I admit that I'm not going into this dinner blind. I… know what she looks like because I asked your grandfather if he had any pictures of you two together. He sent me a photo." She takes out her phone, taps it a few times, and puts it in front of Alhaitham.
It's a professional photo of you that looks like it can be used as a passport or for company records. However, Alhaitham still doesn't understand. Is his mother judging you because of your appearance?
"I did a little research and found out you two work at the same company. My initial intention was to confirm this with Layla."
“Why didn’t you ask me?”
“Because I wanted to know what this woman was like. She’s your girlfriend. You’d obviously tell me all the good things.”
“...So, you wanted an unbiased point of view?”
She puts her elbows on the table and puts her hands together. “I see she’s a nice girl. Capable and intelligent.”
Alhaitham slightly narrows his eyes. Well, he got one of his questions answered. Now, onto the next—
“Sorry to have kept you waiting.”
“Not at all,” his mother says, watching you sit down.
You look from Alhaitham to his mother. “Did I… miss something?”
She smiles at you. “Not at all. Haitham was wondering what I thought about you.”
“O-oh, well—”
“You’re a lovely woman, dear. You… oddly remind me of myself when I was younger.”
“...I do?”
She nods. “I don’t know if Haitham told you, but if not for his grandfather… I wouldn’t have had him.”
“Ah, yes”—you look at your boyfriend—”he told me the story.”
“Tell me… do you want to get married and have kids?”
“Mom…”
She looks at her son. “It’s an honest question. There are no wrong answers.”
"I don't want kids," you say. "And… as for marriage, it's not something I'm thinking about right now. But I'm open to the idea when the time is right."
His mother smiles slightly. “It feels like I’m looking into a mirror.” Then, she looks at Alhaitham. “Did you know Haitham used to want enough kids for a soccer team?”
You turn to him. “Really?”
There’s a small but visible blush on his cheeks. “That was when I was very young. I don’t anymore.”
“Are you sure?” his mother asks. “You loved being around kids. You aren’t just saying that because she doesn’t want kids, do you?”
“I’m not."
“...I hope so. Because it wouldn’t be good to go along with someone else if that’s not what you want.”
The blush on his cheeks is gone as he looks his mother in the eyes. Perhaps he's overthinking, but is she… trying to create tension with this talk of having children?
His mother is about to call a waiter when he asks, “...Do you know why I said that before?” His mother looks back at him. “You and Dad were always away.”
"...Haitham, your father and I had no choice."
"I don't blame either of you. But my perspective has changed. So, there's no need to dwell on whether she and I have different views on having kids."
Is it just you, or does Alhaitham sound… a little cold? You hold his hand and give him a little smile to ease the tension. He holds your hand and returns your smile with one of his own.
Then, a waiter comes by and asks, “Is everything to your liking over here?”
“Could we get the bill?” When the waiter brings it over, Alhaitham’s mother takes it from him and says, “It’s on me tonight.”
“Oh, but—”
“I insist."
Then, she looks away from you, stands, and walks to the reception with her purse.
You turn back and see Alhaitham seemingly deep in thought. You put a hand on his leg and ask, “Whatcha thinking about, handsome?”
Alhaitham takes your hand. Truthfully, he’d been worried that his mother might try to make you uncomfortable. However, that didn’t seem like that’s the case… for the most part. “...It’s nothing.”
“Ready to go, you two?”
Once the three of you reach the parking lot, Alhaitham’s mother turns to her son and says, “Be safe on the road.”
“Thank you for dinner today,” you say.
“...I hope to see you again soon.”
Then, she turns and heads toward her car. Just before you and Alhaitham reach his car, Alhaitham sees his mother drive past. However, it isn’t the speed that arouses suspicions but her hard, cold stare.
Alhaitham's mother shifts the gears and drives a little faster once she hits the highway. She thought she'd left it all behind. The nightmares had stopped. The guilt… had eased. But when she heard your name, everything she felt that one fateful day came crashing back.
Today was it.
If she nailed this career-changing presentation to the business executives, she would be one step closer to becoming the manager of the department. Eventually, she might even oversee an entire business branch.
The rain started to come down harder as the car slowly rolled to a stop at an intersection. Then, she picked up her phone and saw the message on the screen.
She’s already here.
Alhaitham's mother stiffened. She didn't need any context to know who her colleague was talking about. A woman who was after the same position as her. She had been competing with her for a couple of years. Alhaitham's mother knew how capable she was, but she was also manipulative, coaxing her way up to the top. But of course, she had to have the skills to back it up.
Alhaitham's mother quickly texted back, her battery losing the last of its life. She had been so busy practicing for her presentation that she had forgotten to charge it. But she was almost at the office, so it shouldn't matter.
Alhaitham's mother tossed her phone into the passenger seat and turned to the adjacent road. However…
“Oh, my God!”
She suddenly slammed the brakes, but it was a little too late. The car still slid forward, hitting a man who had suddenly stopped while crossing the street. Even as he fell onto the wet pavement, his hand was still over his chest. Alhaitham's mother quickly backed up, got out of the car, and ran over to him.
“A-are you all right?”
The man groaned and winced in pain.
She ran back, opened the passenger door, and picked up her phone. However, it was completely dead. She gritted her teeth and quickly hurried back to the man.
“I’ll take you to the hos—”
Wait a minute.
Would she be held responsible for hitting him? But… he wasn’t suffering because of her… right? He was in pain first, and she just… barely hit his leg. It wasn’t her fault. Right? Then, there was also her all-important presentation. She couldn’t afford to be late. Excuses would look terrible on her.
She slowly backed up, her hands shaking.
This wasn’t her fault.
“Oh, my God! Are you okay?”
A young woman rushed onto the street and quickly lifted the man’s head. When the man remained unresponsive, she quickly took her phone from her bag and called an ambulance.
Alhaitham’s mother slowly smiled. Yes. It wasn’t her fault. Besides, he would be fine. Someone called the ambulance. Everything was going to be okay. Then, she quickly got in her car, ignoring the young woman’s calls and drove off.
However, that was just the beginning. What happened to him? He didn't make the news which means he was still alive... right?
She'd done a little digging and discovered that the man's family took him off life support. What she got out of that was that she was no murderer.
The thought still haunts her to this day: if she had taken him to the hospital in the car that day, would he still be alive? Did she just… let him die?
Your last name. The man’s last name. It must be just a coincidence. There’s no way the man she left to die that day was your father, right? When she heard your full name, she felt the blood leave her face.
That’s why she wanted to know more about your family at dinner. You didn’t specify how he died, but the questions are all flooding back. What happened to him? Why was he taken off life support? It had nothing to do with her… right? She briefly recalls what you told her at dinner before you excused yourself for the washroom.
“...I’m very sorry that happened,” she said. Then, with a stiffer tone, she asked, “...But you said he… survived the accident. May I ask why your mother decided to take him off life support?”
“Mom,” Alhaitham warned.
“...It was the aftermath,” you said. Then, you looked her in the eyes. “I’m sorry, but I’d rather not talk about my father’s death.”
"Ah, yes, of course," she said.
A loud honk behind her startles her out of her thoughts. Then, as the car slowly rolls forward, she grips the steering wheel tighter. She might have been suspicious of you using Alhaitham. But, if the man she left on the street that day really is your father…
She needs answers. A confirmation. Anything. For the sake of her sanity.
Once she enters the parking lot of her apartment building and parks the car, Alhaitham’s mother takes out her phone and calls the one person she’s betting to get her answers from.
◆◆◆
Alhaitham has just returned home when his phone goes off.
“...Mom?”
“Haitham, there’s… something I want to ask.”
He puts his keys away and puts a hand on the counter. “...Good timing. There’s something I’d like to know, too.” When all he gets is silence, Alhaitham asks, “How did you know what happened to her father?”
“...Wha… What are you saying, Haitham?”
“It was when she said her father wasn’t around anymore.” Alhaitham turns and leans against the counter. “You automatically assumed the worst.”
His mother forces a little smile. “You’re thinking way too much! Anyone would think that the person is gone after hearing a statement like that!”
“...You were also strangely nervous like you are now.”
“Stop it, Haitham.”
He can go on. Why is she getting so defensive? But, instead, he drops it, and says, “...You wanted to ask me something?”
“...I don’t understand. Why does it seem like you’re assuming the worst of me? Is it because I hid the divorce from you? I did it to protect you! I didn’t want you getting distracted by all of this… this bullshit. You had your career to focus on.”
“It’s not the divorce.”
“Then, what?”
“If it’s my girlfriend you want to get to know, you should’ve asked me first instead of asking about her through other people. Yes, Layla knows her, and so does Grandfather. But no one knows her better than I do. They might not have a bad impression on her, but”—his gaze hardens—“I don’t want to give anyone a chance to gossip about her.” Then, he softly sighs. “...Your intentions may have been good, but with you hiding the divorce for so long… it's a little difficult to think otherwise.”
A small pause.
"...I'm sorry, Haitham. Truly."
"...I just wish we can be a little more honest with each other. No more secrets."
"I will! I promise."
Alhaitham smiles slightly. "What did you want to ask?"
She clears her throat. "I… want to know more about her father.”
He raises a brow. “Her father?”
“...That’s right.”
“Why?”
It's a question she's expecting but still doesn't know how to answer. She has to give one… if she wants to cast a good light on herself again.
“I might know him.”
“...You might know her father?” Alhaitham asks, obviously surprised. “How?”
“It’s… it’s a long story. I don’t know if I do or not. And, it might be a sensitive topic to bring up to her, so I want to ask through you.”
Is Alhaitham suspicious? If he is, it’s not obvious in his tone. “...I don’t know much about him.”
"Well… I was just curious about how he died."
A small pause.
“...I know just as much as you do.”
She takes a small breath. “I see.”
“...I think she might appreciate knowing someone who knew her father,” Alhaitham says. “Besides, it sounds like you’re very curious.”
“Well… not that curious. But…” She takes a small breath. “You should get some sleep, Haitham. You have work tomorrow.”
Once Alhaitham ends the call, he thinks back to the brief shock on his mother’s face when she heard your name. If she might’ve known your father, why didn’t she ask? And now she’s coming to him to ask about his death. Alhaitham rubs the space between his brows.
Hang on.
He’s not living in one of those crazy dramas. There’s no way his mother had something to do with your father’s death… Right?
Back at a fancy, high-end apartment, Alhaitham's mother has just walked into her suite when the line goes through.
"...Hello?"
"There's something I'd like you to do."
Alhaitham's secretary sits on the couch. "...It sounds urgent."
Then, she says your name. "I want to know more about her family, especially her father."
“May I ask why?”
“...I’d rather you not. But I’m not planning anything if that’s what you’re wondering.”
"Then, why are you asking me instead of your son?"
"I don't want to alarm him."
“...With what?”
She sighs loudly. “That woman's father and I… may have crossed paths before.”
“Is that bad?”
“Do you need to ask so many questions?”
“...You’re asking me to get potentially private information on your son’s girlfriend without his knowledge. I’d like to know why.”
A small silence.
“Because it just might break him.”

“Oh, my God! My eyes!”
“Why didn’t you knock?” Lumine says angrily as her twin brother quickly covers his eyes with his hands.
Childe sighs. “Should I put my shirt back on?”
Aether slowly moves his fingers apart and sees Lumine put down her pencil. Childe also breaks his pose and sits on a chair, getting a well-deserved break from modelling for over thirty minutes. Despite preparing to leave for Snezhnaya, Childe still agreed to help model for one of Lumine's character designs.
“I didn’t know you were into nude paintings, Lumine,” Aether says.
“It's practice for anatomy! And he wasn't naked!"
Aether side-eyes his sister. Childe has his shirt back on as she sighs. Then, Aether steals a peek at his sister’s drawing. “Ooh, not bad, though. You actually make him look good.”
Childe and Aether exchange a deadpan look.
“...Anyway, I, um, I heard you’re leaving Sumeru for a while,” Aether says.
“Don’t miss me too much, kid.”
Aether awkwardly scratches his head. “You will come back, right?”
Lumine and Childe glance at each other, and she smiles. “Why’re you asking, Aether? Are you going to miss him?”
“I’ll miss making fun of him.”
Childe walks over and swings an arm around Aether. "I'll bring you a souvenir. How does that sound?"
“Why are you leaving, anyway?”
“...It’s complicated.”
“...But Lumine knows why, right?”
She looks at her brother. “Aether?”
"I mean… I don't have to know, obviously. But she's your girlfriend."
“She knows,” Childe says with a small smile. Then, he ruffles Aether’s hair. “I have no intention of hiding anything from her.”
“Gah! Cut it out!” Aether quickly moves away. Just before he leaves Lumine’s room, he looks over his shoulder. “J-just so you know… I won’t forgive you if you hurt her!” Then, before anyone can say anything, he runs off. Soon, they hear a door shut.
Childe and Lumine look at each other and laugh. Then, he sits next to her and looks at the drawing.
“Is this your first time drawing people?” he asks.
“Not exactly. I did some projects for school, but… I sorta fell out of it.” Childe looks at her curiously, so she continues, “A lot of people were better than me at it, but I also wasn't as interested in drawing people at the time.”
“What sparked the interest now?” He winks at her. "Don't tell me it's because you got a hot model."
Lumine rolls her eyes with a small smile. "Well... that does keep the interest, I guess." Childe chuckles. Then, she says, "But, I guess I was getting bored... It sounds horrible, doesn't it? I’m only like a month away from graduating, and I’m already getting tired of what I’m doing.”
“But you’re seeking new challenges.” He gently pinches her nose. “You want to better yourself, and that’s admirable.” Then, quietly, “Some people just like to stay in their comfort zone.”
Is there something on his mind?
“...Hey, just curious, ever since that screenwriting contest… did you ever try again?”
“Why do you ask?” Childe asks.
"Well… I know there's the issue with your family and all… but you're still writing commercial and short video scripts, right? I just thought you'd want to go into screenwriting for dramas like Sis." Childe is silent for a moment until Lumine pokes his cheek. "Did I say something wrong?"
“No,” Childe says with a slightly wry smile. “...I still do.”
“...But?”
“....Well, I guess I’m not as talented as I thought. No matter how hard I try.”
Lumine puts her hands on Childe’s cheeks and makes him face her. Is this what it feels like to be on the other side? Is this what Childe feels when she’s telling him about how she doesn’t feel good enough at her craft?
“What are you saying?” she asks. “You got third without having any experience at the time. That doesn't come easy for a lot of people. You were right behind Sis who was actually studying screenwriting at the time. So, don't say that!"
“But even after so many years,” Childe says, looking straight ahead, “I still can’t beat her.”
Lumine’s eyes widen. “...Wait a minute. Have you been thinking of Sis as your rival all this time?”
“I… guess I’ve started to see her as a standard.” He sighs. “I’m not sure when it started, but seeing her reach new heights is both exciting and infuriating. As her friend, I’m happy for her. But…”
“...Yet you aren’t,” Lumine finishes quietly. “I can understand that. But you know… what are you going to do after that?”
Childe looks at her.
“Are you going to look for someone else to beat?”
“I know what you’re going to say,” Childe says with a small smile. “I should only be competing with myself, right?” He leans closer to her. “...Then, I guess I can say the same for you, Lulu.”
Lumine puts a hand on the back of his neck and leans closer. “We’re… kind of similar, huh?”
Chide puts a hand around her head, bringing her closer. “...Perhaps I should learn from you. Even though you’re afraid, you’re still giving this a shot.” He smiles. “Which you obviously should because it’d be such a waste.” He glances at her lips and says quietly, “...Just like how it’d be a waste not to kiss you right now.”
Just as their mouths meet, they immediately hear another loud gasp. Lumine quickly pulls away and hears her brother say, "Would it kill you to close the door?"
She turns around. “Because someone would just open it again,” she huffs.
“So... am I not supposed to walk over here regardless if the door is open or closed?” Aether says.
Lumine sighs, and she feels Childe kiss her head. Then, in a low whisper, he says, “Still better than nothing.”

Alhaitham's mother is anxiously twirling her pencil between her fingers when she hears a knock at her door. When she opens it, she immediately lets the man inside.
"Do you have it?"
Alhaitham's secretary takes out a wide, cream-coloured envelope from inside his blazer and hands it to her. When he notices her hesitation, he asks, "Do you not want to see it?"
She takes the envelope from him and slides the documents out. He watches her intense stare as her eyes wander down the page.
Stroke. Bleeding. Punctured lung.
"...Are you okay?" he asks.
She continues reading the page, the keywords making her chew on a nail.
External injury. Made it worse.
She stops, her arm falling to her side. The papers fall onto the floor, and Alhaitham's secretary sees the photo of your father. Then, he turns back.
"...Did you get the answer you wanted?"
Alhaitham's mother puts a hand on her head and almost laughs. "...And so much more."

i do not know how to explain to you people that the reason vanny doesn't have any on-screen kills and continually gets shafted and defanged at every possible opportunity while ggy is allowed to brutally murder people and be, like, a thing at all is because of misogyny (excluding the censorship of the more modern games, ofc). like. i have to keep saying this over and over and over again because apparently it is not clicking but misogyny is not an active action, it is not a state of being, it is the foundation upon which society rests and you are thus an unwilling participant in it. remember how scrap baby was used in promo material for pizzasim and then barely does anything except get interrupted for henry's monologue? remember when tfc rewrote its protagonist into a damsel in distress who contributes literally nothing to the plot except to be a prop in the story of the men around her? when tfc (again) made circus baby a sex object? how the majority of female characters who show up in frights stories are simply love interests or accessories to the central male characters? how way too many girls who do end up being protagonists are punished for shit that happens to them, and suffer fates disproportionately worse? what was the original vehicle through which we learnt about vanessa?
and don't "um, actually" me, because the semantics here aren't important -- you're just derailing the conversation to fixate on details that don't matter, because my point is that the bigger picture is misogyny. and that is scary and awful and sucks shit! it does! but it's also just the way the world is, and that won't change if you keep putting your hackles up every time someone points it out. and that doesn't mean feeling guilty or punishing yourself for it. don't do that -- it doesn't do anything except centre the conversation around you and your individual feelings, which is not only a bad way to engage with politics but makes people feel bad for talking about it at all. to say "this is rooted in misogyny" is not a moral judgement, nor is it a failing on you for whatever reason; it, like misogyny, simply *is*. you do not blame the garden for growing weeds, you blame the gardener -- and to remove the infestation you must acknowledge it exists in the first place.

I’d love to hear how Lenny and Kitty’s Hanukkah visit went if you’re up for it!
(Follow up to this one ❤️)
Midge had always loved Hanukkah growing up. It had always been one of the more low stress excuses for her family to gather together. A time full of good food and laughter. Of candlelight and snow.
She'd certainly developed a newfound fondness for the snow since a certain fateful night in November.
Her hand went absently to her still yet unchanged abdomen as she watched the soft flurry falling outside her window onto the street below, eyeing every passing cab with fluttery anticipation.
“Are they here yet?” her father asked curiously.
She hadn't told him the full story. Only that Lenny and his daughter would be stopping in for a visit.
She'd break the news to her parents as to why they'd decided to spend the holiday together once the New Year rolled around…
She shook her head, dropping her hand away before he noticed. “Not yet. Soon though, I'd imagine. I'll let you know.”
Her father chuckled. “I imagine it will be fairly obvious,” he replied, patting her shoulder before returning to his book.
He didn't end up getting much quiet time before there was a knock at the door, a snow dusted Lenny standing on the other side with a bag of presents in one hand, and the tiny mitten clad hand belonging to his daughter in the other.
“Hi,” he greeted with a hesitant smile.
“Hi,” she smiled in return, welcoming them inside.
He looked good.
Tired still, but good.
She hadn't realized until then just how much she'd been looking forward to seeing him again.
Their calls had been nice over the last month or so, but nothing quite compared to seeing him face to face.
Lenny remembered himself, glancing down at the little girl by his side. “Uh, this is Kitty. Kit, this is Daddy's friend Midge I told you about.”
“It's nice to meet you,” Kitty said, gazing up at her shyly from under a little pink hat.
Dear lord she was adorable.
“It's very nice to meet you too,” Midge replied, bending down to her level. “I love your hat.”
Kitty's face lit up. “Daddy took me shopping before we left. He said you really like hats.”
Midge fought back a smirk as Lenny squirmed a bit. “It's true. I have a closet full to prove it too. Maybe later you could try on a few, if you like.”
Kitty's smile grew even brighter. “Really?”
“Sure. Why not? I love any excuse to play dressup.”
“Okay.” Kitty nodded excitedly.
“Okay,” Midge repeated with a laugh before schooling her expression. “Now Kitty, I have a very serious question for you…”
The little girl swallowed, listening intently.
“Do you like latkes?” Midge asked, a smile breaking slyly across her face.
Kitty relaxed, bobbing her head. “Uh-huh!”
“Would you like to make some? I thought that might be a fun thing we could all do together,” the comedienne offered, glancing over her shoulder briefly. “My kids are around here somewhere too.”
“Sure! But don't put Daddy in charge of frying,” Kitty warned.
Midge arched a brow at Lenny as she stood back up.
Lenny scratched the back of his neck sheepishly. “I uh…I tried making them one year. Ma was busy. They got a little burnt.”
She put a comforting hand absently on his arm, assuring Kitty “Happens to the best of us. But don't you worry. I'm a latke expert.”
Remembering herself, she pulled away, remarking brightly “You guys are probably famished! We should get started.” She turned to call down the hallway “Kids? Come say hi to Lenny and Kitty!”
Small footsteps soon thundered down the hall, bringing her son in to greet them.
“Goodness!” she laughed at the sudden entrance. “Lenny, Kitty, this is–”
“Hi I'm Ethan!” her son interrupted with a chipper grin.
“Hi,” Kitty greeted shyly, giving the boy a little wave.
“Do you like comic books? I've got the latest Wonder Woman issue if you want to read it,” he offered.
“Oh. Um, okay sure,” Kitty smiled.
Ethan led her back into the living room to show off his collection.
“And they're off,” Midge chuckled.
“Seems like a nice kid,” Lenny replied.
“He is. He's got a good heart.”
Midge looked down, finally taking full notice of the bag of gifts in his hand.
“Can I help you with that?” she offered.
“Oh, right!” Lenny handed it to her awkwardly, taking the opportunity to remove his coat. “Didn't want to show up empty handed. Just a few little things for the kids mostly.”
“I'm sure they'll love whatever you brought,” she assured him, smiling softly. “I'm…I'm glad you could make it.”
“Me too.” He hesitated for a moment before leaning in to kiss her cheek, hovering a little closer when she didn't pull away. “It's good to see you. You look good.”
“For a woman in my condition,” she quipped quietly. “You look good too.”
“Sure,” he laughed. “For a woman in my condition.”
She shook her head fondly, feeling a flush creep across her skin as they settled into their familiar banter.
Things had been good between them over the phone, keeping each other updated, enjoying each other's company from opposite coasts, but she couldn't help but wonder if it would feel different once they were in the same room again.
If the spark would still be there or if the reality that she was pregnant with his child would shatter the magic between them.
But standing here with him now…
Well in a way it was different, and yet exactly the same.
She still felt that same gravity pulling her closer to him.
She just didn't feel the need to fight it anymore.
And maybe it was just that they'd been talking more or that part of her was still an optimist but Lenny, for his part, seemed more open. Less guarded and more…well she couldn't quite say what. But it looked good on him.
It almost looked like hope.
Esther wandered in, carrying a book that was as large as her torso, hugging it to herself as she peered up at the adults. “Hi.”
“Hello,” Lenny greeted, pulling back to a more respectable distance at getting caught staring for probably a bit too long. “You must be Esther.”
“Yeah... I guess when I'm older I could change it if I want,” the little girl reasoned dryly.
Lenny fought back a laugh, blown back by the unexpected remark. “I'm Lenny. It's nice to meet you.”
Esther looked him over with eyes more astute than her years, before finally juggling her grasp on her book to shake his hand. “Nice to meet you too.”
Looking up at her mother, she commented “He sounds dif’went than I thought.”
“Oh?” Midge wondered, fighting a laugh.
Instead of offering an explanation the little girl just shrugged. “Are we gonna eat soon?”
“Soon. Go get your brother and Kitty and meet us in the kitchen.”
Turning back to Lenny when Esther had gone she ventured, “So. You ready to meet my parents again?”
Lenny chuckled, still getting over Esther’s unintended wit. “Third time's a charm?”
“Sure,” Midge nodded, leading him into the apartment before fully processing his statement. “Wait, what?”
Somehow they managed not to burn a single latke.
Even more impressive, they managed to eat all of them. Midge had prepped enough potatoes to feed an army.
And he should know. He'd had his fair share of mess hall duty back in the Navy.
Lenny smiled softly to himself as he watched the snow out the window later that evening, enjoying the quiet.
The kids had declared themselves best friends before the first latkes even hit the oil and practically demanded to have a sleepover as part of the night.
Abe and Rose had gone out to the theater shortly after dinner.
Leaving just him and Midge to hold down the fort for the evening.
Her parents had made excuses about having bought their tickets before they knew Lenny would be coming but he had his suspicions to the contrary.
Either way he was grateful for the chance at some alone time.
Looking out at the river now, the city lights sparkling across the icy surface, he couldn't help but think he hadn't given this view a proper appreciation last time he'd been here.
But then a lot of things had changed since he'd been here last.
He hadn't been sure how he would feel about being back in New York after having been ready to leave it all behind only a month before.
But now that he was back–now that he was with her, he realized, it felt like he was exactly where he was supposed to be.
He could admit it to himself now that seeing Midge at the airport that day had saved him from a very dark road.
And while he still had a number of obstacles yet to overcome, they felt less daunting than they had before.
Because she'd been there to help him start to turn things around.
Because she thought he was someone worth helping. Believed he wasn't a lost cause.
And if she could believe that even after everything that had happened between them… Well maybe he could believe it a little bit too.
Midge walked in to join him, rubbing the last bits of her hand cream in.
“I swear I feel like always wreak of potatoes for days after squeezing them out like that,” she chuckled, inspecting her hands self-consciously.
Lenny smirked. “Who knows, there might be a market for that. You could have your own perfume line someday.”
“Everyone's gotta have a retirement plan,” she quipped, taking a seat on the couch. “The kids certainly enjoyed their presents.”
Lenny nodded. “I don't think Kitty is going to let that Barbie you got her out of her sight.”
“She's a sweet girl,” Midge smiled. “I'm glad you could bring her.”
“Yeah. Yeah, me too.”
He gazed at her a moment in the lamplight.
Taking her in.
Gathering his courage.
“I um…I got you a little something too, you know,” he ventured, coming slowly to join her.
“Oh?
She raised a curious brow, those expressive eyes of hers sparkling.
He'd missed those smiling eyes.
“Well, two somethings,” he clarified. “You get to pick which one you want.”
She blinked, confusion coloring her smile. “I don't get both?”
“That depends…”
“On what?” she wondered.
“On your answer.”
He pulled the ring box he'd been carrying from inside his jacket pocket, setting it down still closed on the coffee table in front of her.
“Oh…” she breathed.
“I've thought about it a lot, Miriam,” he informed her, sitting down but still keeping a respectable distance. “About you. Us… I'm a better man when you're in my life. You make me want to be better. You certainly deserve a hell of a lot better than me but…if you'll have me? Because I'd like to try to be worthy of you, pregnant or not. I've loved you for a very long time now and I would happily worship at your alter for the rest of my days. If you'll let me.”
Midge stared dumbstruck at the unexpected little box, her heart racing.
She'd hoped someday they might– but she told herself not to expect anything. He had so much on his plate already. She didn't want him to feel like she was another obligation. But she had hoped all the same...
At her silence, he added gently “You don't have to answer right away. Just know that I'll still be there for you–both of you–no matter what you decide.”
“Yes,” she breathed, her voice catching in her throat as tears pricked her eyes. “God, Lenny yes, Yes!”
A watery laugh escaped her as she dabbed her eyes, trying to save her makeup.
“Gah! You know you're not supposed to make the pregnant lady cry. Kind of rule number one.”
Lenny chuckled, his own eyes looking a little misty as he reached for her, wiping a tear with his thumb as he caressed her cheek. “Sorry sweetheart. I'll try to avoid it in the future.”
Midge smiled, kissing him tenderly. “That future sounds pretty nice.”
His arms encircled her as she recaptured his lips, pulling her closer until she was comfortably settled in his lap, the two of them getting lost in the embrace.
Being in his arms like this again, finding a love like his was something she never thought she'd get.
She'd convinced herself that no man could possibly love every part of her, could be willing and ready to accept her, to love her as both a comic and as a woman.
But Lenny did. She could always be her whole self with him, right from the start.
That night in that very blue room had been one of the best nights of her life.
She'd thought she'd lost her chance at ever having that again after Carnegie Hall.
So to have him here now, holding her like this, telling her he loved her, promising her a future for both them and their child… Well it felt nothing short of miraculous.
But then again it was a time for celebrating miracles.
And finding Lenny after she thought her life had fallen apart was nothing short of a miracle.
She smiled against his lips, pulling away to catch her breath and rest her forehead against his.
“So are you gonna open the box or do I have to do it myself?” she teased breathlessly.
He smirked, shifting to grab it without dumping her off his lap, opening it as he offered it to her. “I guessed at the size. We can get something else if–”
“It's perfect,” she insisted, taking it in.
The diamond was modest in size, more suited to her hand than a larger stone would have been, accented with two small sapphires on either side that caught the light just so.
She carefully pulled the ring from the box to slip it on her finger.
It was a perfect fit.
She swallowed, grinning as she held her hand up, admiring it in the light for him to see.
“Here's hoping my fingers don't swell too much,” she quipped.
He hugged her tighter, kissing her temple. “If they do, you can borrow mine,” he promised.
She hiccuped an undignified laugh, snuggling in closer, kissing his jaw. “How considerate.”
“Figured it's the least I can do.”
She turned to face him more fully. “I love you Lenny. I know it's a bit of an odd time to say that for the first time, but I do. I hope you know that.”
A smirk tugged at his lips. “I wasn't entirely certain but when you said you intended to have my love child I felt I had a little room to hope.”
She shook her head, pulling him in for another kiss.
“Still, it's nice to hear,” he murmured.
“Yes it is,” she agreed.
His hand cupped her cheek tenderly as he looked into her eyes, reminding himself this was real.
“I love you, Miriam Weissman.”
“I love you, Lenny Bruce.”
A grin he couldn't quite contain broke across his face as he hugged her close, tucking her head under his chin. “Yup. Very nice to hear.”
“Indeed,” Midge murmured, enjoying the cuddle.
After a moment, she added jokingly “Can I have my other present now?”
Lenny barked the laugh that had quickly become her favorite as he fumbled in his jacket for another present. “Here.”
She unwrapped the little rectangle he placed in her hands, revealing a pink notebook monogrammed with the letter M in the corner.
She was glad to see there was still room for another initial if she wanted to add another.
She pressed her lips together, trying to hold back a giggle.
“What?” he wondered.
She shook her head, turning to pull a very similarly shaped parcel from the drawer of the end table beside the couch, handing it to him.
He unwrapped it carefully, unveiling a notebook bound in blue.
Raising a brow he peeked inside the cover, finding her carefully practiced scrawl.
“For all your funny things to say. Dad jokes included. Love, Midge,” he read aloud.
“Depraved minds think alike?” she shrugged.
“Something like that,” he murmured affectionately. “Happy Hanukkah.”
“Happy Hanukkah.”
She cuddled into his side, watching the candlelight dance against the window pane, enjoying the quiet closeness they'd carved out for themselves.
“You know what?” she murmured.
“Hm?”
“I think we're starting to figure it out.”
He smiled, kissing the top of her hair, threading his fingers with hers over her stomach.
And for once, he actually felt good thinking about the future.
“Maybe we are.”

Sunny Day Jack
When he first met you he froze in place. You laid already passed out on the couch while a child who did look like you stared at him wide eyed, and mouth wide open as he cuddled closer to you.
That night was very dangerous for Jack as you woke up ready to fight. It also wasn't easy to explain how he wasn't alive.
However things turned out okay in the end, and he began to bond with your little family. Your son Asher grew attached to quick which wasn't a surprise. It also worked in Jack favor because Asher would tell him things about he didn't know.
"Yeah my parent is so cool! One time this man tried to take me while we shopping, and they punched him so hard he didn't get up! Then.....then while waited for police they held his hand behind his back! They were just like a super hero!"
Jack eyes widened at the confession. You knocked a man clean out....with no effort.... Jack could feel his face heat up, and quickly looks away to hide .
"Sunshine sure is something else." His voice is so dreamy that Asher even picked up on it as he giggled.
Shaun
Your Daughter Evelyn was the first he met. While you were getting food at the salad bar in the cafeteria he watched her get distracted by something, and began wondering for you.
He stopped her before she got to the door, but now he had to find you. While he tried he learned Evelyn is at that age where she likes to talk but doesn't know what's okay to say, and what isn't.
"I'm sure they will find me soon! My parent is really cool like that! They one time had to break a window to get me when this man tried to take me! It was really cool! The looked like a hero!
Shaun looked down at the kid almost terrified. Did he just seal his Fate by helping this kid? Luckily for him no. He was safe in fact you ran up to your daughter and embraced her.
It's an odd way to meet the person he would up being with, but a story he enjoys all the same.
Ian
He met you during a group study in his first year. Unlike the others in group you talked and interacted with him and he was immediately intrested. Your friendship starts off slow, but eventaully the two of you were hanging out a lot
He even got to meet you adopted daughter Flora. The little girl was as quiet and shy as he is so they got along really well. So well that she didn't mind telling him all your amazing adventures.
"My parent is the best in my opinion......t-they um....one time they kicked someone so hard it hurt their nose as they tried to grab my hand when we are at the mall."
You.....you broke someone's nose?! He looked for to the little girl wearly who coloring unaware of the scared look. However the longer they sat in silence the more he....liked the idea??
You were a protector and he can admire that, and that means you were a caretaker. He really liked that idea. Maybe he could....shoot his shot??

[BSTS] Sotetsu Off Day 4* Card Story
Tumblr media
chapter 1 -subway-
sotetsu: Yo, Saki. Out shopping on your own are you? Or are you just drifting about because you have too much free time on your hands?
saki: Sotetsu-san? Fancy meeting you here.
sotetsu: I guess you could call it fate. C’mon, let’s go.
saki: Huh? Wait, where are we going?
sotetsu: Interested are you? Well then I might just sweep you up and take you someplace far away.
saki: What??
sotetsu: I’m just messing with you. It’s cause I don’t actually have a destination in mind but admitting that is boring right? How about we just go window shopping for now and see if we come across any interesting shops.
-sotetsu’s phone rings-
sotetsu: —Ah, excuse me, I’ve got to take this call.
sotetsu (on phone): Hey, it’s me. Right, you’ve finally got one there huh. Still, that took you quite a while, was it that hard to obtain one? Of course, that much is expected, no? I’ve been waiting too after all.
saki: (Got one? Hard to obtain? Just what could they be talking about…?)
sotetsu (on phone): Yeah, I’ll be right there. I won’t be satisfied until I can check it out with my own eyes.
-hangs up-
sotetsu: Alright, shall we get going then?
saki: Hm?
sotetsu: I have business with a store that I frequent, want to come with?
saki: S-sure. But um, just what kind of store is it exactly?
sotetsu: (smirks) You’ll find out when we get there.
-
chapter 2 -cramped shopping district-
saki: You frequent a store around here, Sotetsu-san?
sotetsu: Come to think of it I haven’t told you about it yet, have I? I like reptiles so I have a pet green iguana… So partly due to that connection I’ve been indebted to this store for a long time now.
saki: I see, so that’s what’s going on.
shop clerk: Hello, welcome! We’ve been expecting you.
sotetsu: Yeah, thanks for the call. I know it’s jumping right into it but could I hold them?
-cg, sotetsu with the iguana
sotetsu: That’s it that’s it, what a good little one you are. Oh? You’ve got some weight to you, and your size too… Could you be a young female? What, do you want me to pet you? Alright then, there you go.
saki: W-woah… She’s already so friendly with you.
sotetsu: At first glance people might just say they look like dinosaurs, but they’re actually a lot cuter than you’d think. Aren’t iguanas great? They’re well behaved and best of all they’re friendly towards humans.
-cg gone
sotetsu: Once I started keeping one as a pet I couldn’t help but love them. They eat a whole lot and look really cute when they’re eating too. Sometimes I take home the leftover vegetables in the Starless kitchen to feed my one back home. Well, taking home leftover ingredients is actually prohibited. So, none of the other guys know about this, let’s keep it a secret between you and me, ok?
saki: Fufu, of course.
shop clerk: I have some mustard spinach prepared if you’d like to feed her.
sotetsu: Oh? Sounds good. This one’s pretty attached to my back right now so would you like to feed her, Saki?
saki: Is that ok? Then, I’ll give it a go…
-saki feeds the iguana-
saki: Uwah, the way she’s eating it makes it look like it must be delicious. It’s so cute just as you said, Sotetsu-san.
sotetsu: Yeah, she’s cute alright.
saki: …Sotetsu-san?
sotetsu: The iguana too, but I think it’d be pretty fun to keep you as a pet as well.
saki: Pet…!? Excuse me!?
sotetsu: Ku- Hahaha! I’m obviously joking! You’re so gullible and easy to tease that I can’t help myself. Thanks to you my day off has been lots of fun. (smirks) Will you come by here again sometime? If you don’t dislike the idea, that is.

INVITATION TO "HE★VENS LOVE AFFAIR" - Translation
Tumblr media
Please do not repost/retranslate without permission.
Eiichi: Welcome to this magnificent white mansion, Angel. This is where we’ll all be living together for one week.
Eiichi: (opens the door for the listener) Come, this way. My name is Otori Eiichi.
Eiichi: I’ll burn up this life and move faster than the wind to achieve victory. I am a pro racing driver. I believe that when it comes to love, I should give it my all in the same way.
Van: I was really looking forward to your arrival! I’m Kiryuin Van. I’m the field’s superhero who is good at both offense and defense!
Van: Naturally, this doesn’t apply only to baseball, I’ll make your monotonous days beautifully colorful!
Nagi: Hey, you. You’re a little nervous right now, but I’m sure you’re very excited inside.
Nagi: How do I know that? It’s because it’s written all over your face. Come on, take my arm. I, the most gifted great detective in the universe, Mikado Nagi, will escort you safely!
Kira: Your left side is reserved for me. I want you to rely more on me.
Kira: My name is Sumeragi Kira. I work as a potter. I’ll teach you if you’re interested. I think it might make your life richer.
Yamato: Is this all of your luggage? I’ll carry it to your room.
Yamato: It’s awfully cute, just like its owner.
Yamato: Ah, I still haven’t told you my name. It’s Hyuga Yamato. I’m a martial artist. Leave things like carrying your luggage and heavy lifting to me.
Eiji: (gasps) I am sorry, it’s just that you look even nicer than the picture I saw of you, so I couldn’t help but stare without realizing.
Eiji: Um, I’m Otori Eiji. I run a flower shop. I think it would be nice to enjoy the flowers with you.
Eiji: And finally…
Shion: I am Amakusa Shion. Amakusa’s fate is to investigate the environment in which the many creatures that inhabit this earth live.
Shion: And, like you, I have come to this place to learn what love is.
Eiichi: From now on, the seven of us will be competing for your love.
Nagi: Only one person from our house will be able to win over your heart and give you their love balloon.
Nagi: Well, we don’t have to wait until the end, it’s already been decided from the beginning that the one who will become your boyfriend will be Nagi! Right?
Van: Not at all, perhaps Angel is after a type like me. Someone with an adult’s broad-mindedness. What do you think?
Kira: You’re too close. Angel is probably bothered.
Kira: The thing you came here to look for is true love. I’m after it too. I hope to find it with you.
Yamato: Keep your eyes on me, Angel! To win your love, I’ll fight squarely and seriously!
Eiji: Hey, Angel. I’m just hoping to be able to spend time with you normally and get to know each other better that way.
Eiji: That is because I want you to decide with honest feelings. That is my request.
Shion: This is the beginning of our story. How the plot goes is not in Amakusa's hands now.
Shion: I hope you and I reach the same destination at the end of this journey.
Eiichi: It’s all up to you. That being said, in the end, I don't intend for you to choose anyone other than me.
Eiichi: I will surely make these words true.
Eiichi: Now, it’s time to begin!
(sound of a clock ticking, then striking)

Just a short scene I wrote because Zutara has been occupying about 90% of my thoughts lately 😅
Side Note: This scene diverges from canon after the end of the war because damn it, Zuko and Katara will always end up together in whatever context, scene, or story I write. I’m also still working on my full fledged fanfic! I don’t want to give away too many details, but it is a Modern-Day AU with Lunar New Year celebrations, and an extreme amount of fluff and pining. I can’t wait to finally share it! I’m hoping for a late spring/early summer release on AO3, but that may be optimistic because I write about as fast as a snail-sloth.
Anyway, without further ado…
*****
~Zuko’s Favorite Color~
Three years after the end of the 100 Year War, the Gaang meets on Ember Island to spend the week together. Before leaving, Zuko asked Iroh to take over his Fire Lord duties for the time being, just so he could spend his holiday relaxing and enjoying his time with his friends.
They’re all lounging on the beach at the night, drinking tea around a fire.
After slurping her tea and setting the empty cup aside, Toph turns to the group.
“Let’s play a game,” she suggests. “The rules are simple. All you have to do is guess Sparky’s favorite color. The winner gets to have all of their meals paid for by him tomorrow.” She slaps Zuko, who’s sitting next to her, on the back. With a wicked grin, she continues, “And the loser has to plant one on him tonight, with his consent, of course.”
Zuko chokes on his tea. “Hey, wait a minute! None of that is even remotely fair,” he protests, gesturing wildly. He glares at the world’s greatest Earthbender with a scowl. “Either I have to dole out money or I have to give out a kiss. How does any of that benefit me? And why in Agni’s name would we play a game where you all guess my favorite color? It makes so sense!”
Sokka laughs. “Dude, you’re just afraid I’m gonna win and you’re gonna have buy me food. You’ve seen the way I eat - you’ll be out of money by the end of tomorrow!
Snorting, Zuko shakes his head. “Buddy, I think you’re afraid that you’re gonna lose and have to kiss me.”
“Psh, you’d be lucky to kiss me! I’m a real catch, aren’t I, Suki?”
Suki kisses her boyfriend’s cheek and coos, “You sure are.”
Impatiently, Toph sighs. “Are you in or not, Fire Lord? C’mon, you’re among friends. No one’s gonna hurt you. You can back out if you wanna, but I think it’ll be fun.”
Zuko knows she’s right. It’s all in good fun. These are his friends - the ones he’s trusted time and time again. No one would be cruel. Plus, if he’s being honest, he’s hoping that he’ll get to kiss a certain someone tonight. Someone he’s had a crush on for a long time.
“Fine,” Zuko mutters. “Go ahead.”
Toph gleefully rubs her hands together. “Excellent. Does everyone consent to the rules of the game?”
A chorus of ‘yeahs’, ‘yeses’, and ‘yeps’ goes around.
“Sweet,” Toph says. “I’ll go first. Sparky’s favorite color is…blue.”
Sokka nods sagely. “Yep, it’s 100% blue, no doubt about it.”
Suki chimes in with, “I agree. It’s totally blue.”
Aang hums, stroking his chin. “I think blue would be the correct answer here.”
It’s Katara’s turn. She furrows her brows and frowns. “Why are you all saying blue? His favorite color is obviously red! It’s the color of his homeland, and every article of clothing he owns has some shade of red in it!”
Zuko’s cheeks flush to a deep crimson. He feels himself sinking further into the sand. “Um…” he trails off, scrubbing his hands over his face. He’s not even sure how to respond.
Everyone looks at him expectantly.
Toph smirks. “So, Sparky, what is your favorite color?”
He knows he can’t lie. He’s never been able to, and he doesn’t think he could start now. He decides to give in, resigned to his fate.
Peeking between his fingers, he mumbles, “It’s…um…blue.”
Toph laughs uproariously. “Called it! And we all know why! See, you love blue because everything about it reminds you of Sugar Queen.”
Sokka makes a gagging sound, but offers his own explanation. “Blue is the color of her eyes, which you’re constantly drawn to, by the way. Don’t think I haven’t noticed.”
Suki smiles. “Blue is the color of the clothing that she wears.”
Finally, Aang wraps up the conversation with, “Blue is the color of water, which is the element that she bends.”
Katara has been silent this whole time, her entire face highlighted in a lovely, rosy hue. She only has eyes for Zuko right now.
Quietly, she stands from her spot and crosses over to him, sitting down beside him. “Is any of this true?” she asks him softly, an unreadable expression on her face.
A shaky breath leaves his lips, and he nods. “Yeah, all of it,” he answers honestly, feeling his heart thump wildly.
Then, to his complete dismay, she gives him breathtaking smile.
Her ocean blue eyes never leave his as she murmurs, “Now might be a good time to tell you my favorite two colors.” She pauses, leaning over to brush the hair out of his eyes. “Red and gold because they’ll always be a part of you, Zuko. Every time I see those colors, I immediately think of you.”
His gasp is low, but an enormous grin overtakes his face. “Really?”
“Really.” She turns back to the group, who’s been watching with rapt attention. With a gentle smirk, she shrugs. “Guess I lost the game. And I’m nothing if not a gracious loser.”
Zuko hears Sokka snort, but only focuses on Katara.
“Do you really want to kiss me?” he asks nervously, hands clenching the bottom of his tunic to keep them from shaking. “Because I want to kiss you. Spirits, do I ever want to. But, your comfort comes first to me, always. So, we can forget this whole thing if it makes you uncomfortable.”
“I want to,” she sighs dreamily. “I’ve been waiting three years. Don’t make me wait any more.”
With that, they both lean and their lips touch. Finally.
As they continue to kiss, Zuko vaguely registers the sounds of claps, hollers, and an indignant whine of, “Dude, that’s my sister!” in the background.
Eventually, Katara pulls back to catch her breath, leaving Zuko in a dazed state.
She giggles, presses a light kiss to his scarred cheek, and says, “I think you may need to tap into the Fire Nation’s budget tomorrow. Your personal finances aren’t going to look so good with all of those mouths to feed.”
His eyes widen and dart to his friends, who all wave back at him smugly.
Groaning, he wraps his arm around her waist to pull her closer.
He addresses the group. “You’re all the worst. But…” he trails off to kiss the top of Katara’s head. “This stupid game was worth it.”

Hey! What are your favorite Ganon fics ever? I want to read some but have no idea where to start 🤔
WAAAAAAH THIS IS A HARD QUESTION but I will give out some suggestions! I Adopted the King of Darkness This is a series where Link is raising a young Ganondorf that he uh, kidnapped from the Yiga. This author does a fantastic job of writing a very believable child Ganondorf (who is so kiddishly evil) and I highly suggest it if you're looking for some humor and also warm moments,. There are currently 3 fics in this collection and the author plans to write more. Little Souls in Blistered Light This is a Ganlink story with a Ganondorf that has been released from the Calamity after thousands of years and he and the Link of this era go on a journey to reconcile their failures of the past. It's excellent (and spicy ahahaha heed the rating). Descant of Greatness This is a retelling of OoT Ganondorf's story, from his childhood, to his years as a young Gerudo King, and finally his descent into madness as he is consumed by power and becomes the King of Evil we all know and love. The worldbuilding in this story is excellent and builds such a believable narrative in regards to Gerudo culture and Hylian politics, as well as exploring Ganondorf's relationships with his own people as well as the people in Hyrule. I highly suggest you also read Litany of Betrayal which takes place in this same universe. This is a very interesting character study of Ganondorf! Shadows of the Lost Okay this story is very, very wacky and I mean that in the most affectionate way possible. I was literally in tears laughing at some points of this story. However, it does also explore the nature of the Zonai and their influence on Hyrule, and why Ganondorf held hatred for them. It's also done in a very graceful way I find which doesn't paint either side as being good or bad. However, the Zonai here are explored in very unique ways. If you want an adventure story featuring Ganondorf, Link, and Zelda with um "Zundams" please read this. Also heed the rating and pairings though this story ends up ultimately as a Ganzelink. The Word and Legend Go Before You If you ever wanted to read an excellent story about what a Termina Ganondorf and Termina Zelda would be like, and the nature of time and how it relates to one's fate, read this. It's a wonderful and thoughtful read. Tongues and Teeth So let's say Ganondorf and Rauru existed in some metaphysical plain of existence while Rauru kept Ganondorf sealed...this is what this story explores. They basically catfight a lot and Ganondorf says the most incredulous line which the author cleverly uses in their summary that got me laughing and also being like "yeah he would have the audacity to say that". And I guess when you're stuck together for a while you'll end up kissing 😂 Digging Your Only Grave If you ever wondered what would happen if Ganondorf ended up being a poe in the Depths, this is the story for you. A different iteration of Link stumbles upon him in the Depths in search of his own impossible dream, and this story really touches deep in terms of its discussion on death, fate, and divine punishment. The Wind Carried Death This is a Ganondorf centric story where, before Ganondorf could swallow his stone, Link shatters it with the Master Sword and ends up dragging Ganondorf along with him as he tries to find a way to reverse the draconification on Zelda. There is...so much going on in this story it is unbelievable. Sonia plays a very important part in this story. It explores Ganondorf's relationship with the Gerudo, the relationship he had with Zelda as she tried to understand him and his culture, his relationship with Rauru and the Zonai, and even the relationship with himself (it touches on the idea that Ganondorf has a lot of unaddressed self hatred, a headcanon I LOVE). You won't regret reading this story.
All The Years We've Been Given This ignores TotK canon as it was written right before its release, but it explores the idea of a Ganondorf being raised with the sole mission of killing Link once he awakens from the Shrine of Resurrection. I love this Ganondorf because he is raised in the wilderness and becomes one with the land, similar to Link. It's a very sweet story that has a bittersweet ending (and I hope to see a sequel from this author ahaha).
Signs of Radiance If you want a Ganlink story where Link is a feral demigod and Ganondorf is entangled in Gerudo politics that are striving to push him to the edge, this is the story for you. There is a lot of spiceness in this story let me warn you ahahaha.
Fair Winds Over Fine Sands How about a Ganlink story where Link is a dragon and Ganondorf is treated like a heretic king by his own people? I love Ganondorf in this story, he has a lot of baggage but he rounds out his baggage with a sarcastic attitude. A Gaze Blank and Pitiless So this is a story where Ganondorf is shunned by the Gerudo due to the darkness that follows Gerudo males. He meets Link and they set out on a journey that Ganondorf is really unsure is wise. Do note that this story was written before we knew what the Zonai were, so the author has their own interpretation of the Zonai (and Link was one of them). I THINK THAT'S A GOOD STARTING POINT *faints*
