As much as the pandemic (and the rhetoric surrounding it) has contributed to recent hateful incidents against Asian Americans, this isn't anything new.
We've always heard derogatory comments.
We've always been told we don't belong.
We've always been objectified and harassed.
We've always been told to conform to white expectations.
We've always faced violent attacks.
We've always been told to abandon our culture to fit in.
We've always been viewed as "other" - and have been hurt a lot because of it.
I'm glad people are becoming more aware of the struggles that AAPI individuals face, but it's important to remember that this has been going on forever.

I made a alternative to my “Stop Asian Hate” design with another well-known phrase: Hate Is A Virus.
Stop AAPI Hate. Support a Asian-owned business/shop.
Hate Is A Virus: Chinese Flag Sticker
Hate Is A Virus: Japanese Flag Sticker
Hate Is A Virus: Korean Flag Sticker

Begging The Book of Boba Fett to just have this quiet scene between Boba and Fennec where they share a little bit about each other's cultures. Maybe it's a meal where they share some food and make a quick comment about it being important to them growing up. Or maybe a scene where they exchange folk tales. Or maybe a scene where they're passing by some art, and they make a comment on different art styles from their home culture. Or maybe a scene where they speak about cultural dances or how they can incorporate some of it into their fighting styles. Anyway The Book of Boba Fett is AAPI solidatory and I want to see it

this is a topic that is extremely important to me. as an asian american myself, the rise in anti asian hate crimes is sickening and honestly terrifying. growing up in a predominantly white neighborhood almost guarantees a young asian child to be exposed to racist stereotypes and offensive slurs that perpetuate racism further and further, diminishing self esteem and pride in ones culture. when i was young, i never wanted to be chinese. i desperately tried to whitewash myself: to not act too smart, to eat bland sandwiches for lunch, to never mention my parents were immigrants. kids would pull they eyes back, chanting “chinese, japanese, korean” and i could do nothing but laugh along. now i regret pushing my culture away. i wish i had learned chinese so i could speak to my relatives. i wish i had tried every chinese food and learned how to cook traditional dishes. i wish, i wish. nothing can make up for lost time, but now i am trying to do my best to mend my mistakes in the past. i hope that every asian american child can grow to be proud of who they are and to stand up for themselves in the face of cruel and unjust racism and that we can create a world that is kinder to all.

I've been trying to find the words to express how I feel about the recent Atlanta Spa shootings and growing hate against the AAPI community. I love being half Japanese, but as a fourth generation American, such a large part of our history has been lost. My father’s earliest years were during WWII. My Dad and his family were placed in the internment camps and after they were released they relocated to Chicago. He and his brother went to school and quickly stopped speaking Japanese. He was never able to learn it again. I never learned it either. I distinctly remember visiting Japan with my family. My dad was greeted in Japanese, but being so unable to speak it back that he couldn't be understood. As a kid I played dress up, putting chopsticks in my hair and wearing a Kimono a family member gifted to my mom. I remember my mom making "stir fry" dinners using my dad's rice cooker, and eating at Japanese restaurants. I loved it, but also I felt like a tourist to a part of my own race. My dad had painful memories of his childhood and he learned not to carry those with him. He didn't talk much about the past, our history or our culture, rather we enjoyed what we could experience of it in the present. I am deeply saddened by the lives lost in the Atlanta spa shooting and the rising hate and racism against the Asian community. As the Designer/Owner of Uye Surana and as an Asian American woman, I’ve decided to donate $5 from every pair of undies sold through this month to @stopaapihate a group dedicated to ending anti-Asian hate. #StopAsianHate

So my birthday isn’t till the end of the month but since May is National mental health awareness month and Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage month, I want to ask everyone that instead of wishing me happy birthday or getting me a gift, please make donations to organizations that fight against mental illness stigma, especially in the AAPI communities........Half of all mental illness will develop around the age of 14, but most will not get diagnosed or get any treatment until it reaches to point of a crisis. Since the pandemic began in the beginning of 2020 and the rise of anti Asian sentiments leading to attacks against elders and asian women, it can become very easy to get lost to all the bad and spiral. We need to be able to look out for one another and provide help before a breaking point. Here are some links if you want to make a donation or to learn more information

Disturbing video of an elderly man being knocked to the ground and robbed in his neighborhood of San Leandro, CA. Identities cannot be ascertained of the two robbers but body shape/movement indicates that they were male. The lookout is a black male who appears to be a teenager.

Finding ‘Ohana on Netflix is underrated period.
It needs more recognition. Especially with the issues that hawaii is going through right now. People need to shift their beliefs that Hawaii is a tourist attraction. It’s the islands of the Hawaiian natives filled with tradition and culture. Generations of land trying to be passed on to keep its natural beauty and spirits. Yet, it is so easy for people to take advantage for profit.
Yes, I would love to go to Hawaii because of its surrounding waters and beautiful scenery that is almost everywhere. But the people are tired and their islands are tired. Find respect and spread awareness. Save the few treasures we have left on this earth.

I wanted to show my support for the Asian-American community right now, as we’re all facing hatred in America and feel unsafe and unwelcome. I hope that by buying a sticker, shirt, bag, etc, we can spread the message of support for the Asian American community.
Stop AAPI Hate. Use this design to show you support the Asian American community, and please support Asian & Asian-American owned small businesses and shops, like my own.

Hey! There's a lot of things going on in the world right now, and a lot of people need our help. Don't feel pressured if you don't think you're in the right mindset to help, but here's some linktrees you can use for resources! They're all by my best friend (you can find her on tiktok, @/planets.and.other.things) except the last one, which is by @/Allqueer on tiktok.
We'll be adding more links and linktrees, so link any articles, petitions, donation sites, or anything else you think is important in the notes.

For #AAPIHeritageMonth I am honored to be a part this billboard series with messages of #AAPISolidarity along side @erinyoshi & @ewfrank in partnership with the @Sacramentokings, @golden1center, @forfreedoms, and @solcollective. . “This billboard series is part of a national movement to reframe the perception of our culture, shine light on the vast diversity of API and highlight the history of solidarity actions with bi-poc movement builders” (Erin Yoshi) . “We are fighting for our elders, our peers, our youth, and future generations. Our solidarity is key to our liberation and key to dismantling and destroying the racism and hate that infects our communities." (Franceska Gamez)

In The Late Late Show with James Corden there is a part called ”Spill your guts” where the guests have to either tell things about themselves or eat ”horrible-tasting” food. Sadly, this food is often regular food eaten in non-Western countries, like chicken feet or cow tongue. This influences all of the shows watchers, that showing open disgust towards non-Western cultures is appropriate. Sign the petition from the link below, to demand The Late Late Show to change their foods in the show to something not connected to a certain cuisine, or take the part away from future shows!
