y’all really took Umbrella Academy season 2 for granted and I bet you’re regretting it now that we’ve all lived through the clusterfuck that was season 3

Luther was smack in the middle of a realistic and well written “redemption” arc (redemption in quotes because he was never really a villain in the first place). The Allison/Luther bullshit was firmly behind us and we got to see him FINALLY being pissed at Reggie which was so satisfying.

We got to see Diego’s softer side in his relationship with Lila but we also got to see him being a capable badass at the Commission. And the HAIR. 🥵🥵🤯🥹

God I miss season 2 Allison. I miss her so much. She deserves to have a wholesome, supportive relationship and the character development of her living a life that she EARNED was so satisfying. I still wish we’d gotten to see the aftermath of her injury a little more but it was nice to watch the flashback where she and Ray fell in love. (Raymond Chestnut my beloved you will always be famous)

I know we all like to clown on Klaus’ cult storyline and how dismissive he was of Ben but I see Season 2 Klaus as a necessary waypoint for him to get to a better, more well adjusted place. Recovery isn’t linear and I think Klaus did need to hit a few more rock bottoms before he got there. He was also such a sympathetic character, dealing with loss and the long avoided consequences of his actions. And yeah, the Ben/Klaus beef came kinda out of nowhere but it was realistic for Ben to start to resent Klaus after 15 years of putting up with his bullshit nonstop. At least it was more realistic than whatever happened with Viktor and Allison in S3.

Five was just Five. He’s always Five. But I feel like he was peak Five in season 2. The paradox psychosis episode? His conflict with Viktor? The Five-Luther-Elliot-Diego-Lila bonding time? We got to see him be closed off and hyper focused but somehow still bonding with his siblings.

Ben 🥺 Ben 😢 Benjamin Jessica Hargreeves 😔 I miss you so much you were so kind and loyal and supportive and sassy and hot and I don’t understand why they brought you back if you were just going to be a shell of your regular self. we love you we miss you thank you for your sacrifice.

And don’t even get me started on Season 2 Viktor. God, what a badass. I think giving him temporary amnesia was a really good choice because he got to be free from the anxiety and guilt of everything that had happened at the Academy. And then we got to watch him evolve into the badass that he is and give the middle finger to token homophobe Carl and the entire FBI. Sexy of him.

And the new characters????? Listen Sloane is cool and all but she will never be Lila or Sissy or Ray. Also cutting The Handler was a shitty decision. She was such a good villain and I miss her.

It’s also funny to me that S2’s definition of family bonding was the salon scene and S3’s definition was Klaus getting thrown into traffic by his abusive father.

And the aesthetic was so good?? It was bright and colorful but still felt like The Umbrella Academy, which I’m sorry but season 3 did not.

Anyway thank you for letting me scream into the void. I’m gonna go rewatch season 2 and pretend that season 3 had no impact on canon. Hargreeves Siblings I love you all and I’m sorry they replaced you all with inconsistent cardboard cutouts. Goodnight and god bless.

s3e9 thoughts and things:

--we can't live laugh love our way out of this one boys 😔

--never trust a bitch named Reginald Hargreeves...NEVER

--I take back any and every compliment I said about him getting redemption, of COURSE he was just using them

--Luther getting fucking wrecked...ok fine, didn't hurt. But Reginald pushing Klaus out at the last minute? After all they went through together? I feel personally betrayed.

--The moment Allison hugged Viktor and the music changed and she had that look on her face I knew it was her making the deal with Reginald. Something something woman scorned

--Will not lie: beyond that one scene with Luther (🤢🤮) I do like the Allison villain arc a lot, she deserves it after what she's been through. As a treat y'know

--The sense of foreboding through the whole back half of the season, waiting for the world to end is suspenseful and good, even if it does fill me with existential dread

--So very tempted to just finish out the season tonight and then binge on all the fan reactions and content I've missed for the last week.....stay tuned

You see they can't just make us expect the release date and give us a little teaser because now my mind is racing 100 miles per hour 

Not only is Five's hair slightly longer and styled a bit different on the top, but his hair is shaved slightly shorter on the sides. 

Why did they not so subtly change Ben's hair right off the bat? 

Why is the couch and table between the Umbrellas and Sparrows suddenly gone? Did they move it off to the side so that they could stare each other down and beat the shit out of each other better? 

How did the other Sparrows get down from the balcony so quickly? Did they all just jump? Did one of them levitate the others down or something along those lines? Or was it a whole “One moment, please.” as they Scooby-Doo ran their way down the steps and into the living room? 

Why is Christopher white? Does he change colors based on his mood? Or is this another not so subtle permanent change?  

Did anyone else notice that Christopher and Sloane moved towards Allison and Vanya at the end of the promo as Marcus moves to presumably attack Luther?  

When it shows Vanya looking at the Sparrows we see Allison looking back at Five and when we see Klaus freaking out/getting ready we see Five beginning to turn to his right. Are Allison and Five going to look at each other or is Five going to turn around to Reginald? Or is Five preparing to twist his torso to stretch out and kick some Sparrow ass (with his definite concussion)?

Why is Allison such a badass? 

Will Klaus’s jazz hands warmup help him?

Currently sitting with the realization that Allison will inevitably come to the conclusion that Claire will not be any closer to her in this time-line. Either she won't exist (most likely, depending on how Patrick and Allison met) OR Claire does exist but maybe Allison and Patrick never broke up in this time-line and then not only does she have to go through having her entire life stripped away, plus the second chance she JUST said goodbye to, but another version of herself is living happily with the light of her life; her little girl-her entire heart. Five In Season 3

(Waring: angst)

I’ve already speculated that ‘Evil Five’ will just be more of a comic book accurate version of Five.

But I haven’t speculated on what that actually means.

Well of course you guessed it, I think it means we will get an introduction to that special operation that made comic book Five a killing machine.

I think the serial killer DNA being binded into series Five’s DNA will make it accurate with the comics but also done in a totally different way. As in Five will be just as cold and evil as in the comics, but it won’t be the Commission that did it to him.

That’s right, it will be Reginald Hargreeves that makes Five a cold-blooded killer in the series.

I imagine that Reginald performs this operation on Five instead, and lies to The Umbrella Academy and tells them that it will help Five in some way (possibly with dealing with the past two weeks).

I could see this as Reginald attempting to make Five apart of The Sparrow Academy (as he sees Five as the only useful member of TUA) by making him give completely into his killer instincts (yes I think Five already has them as a result of being in the apocalypse) and feel no love for his siblings. Which is as we all know, is the only thing that makes Five human.

Unfortunately I can only see Reginald being successful in this, and The Umbrella Academy being unable to bring Five back or prevent this and season three ending badly. Maybe with Five almost or actually killing one of his siblings 😔 I could imagine it either being Allison or Vanya.

I see no way of the siblings being able to bring their brother back, even after losing to him. Maybe he’ll start feeling guilty for killing one of his siblings and regain his humanity? Or Doroles brings him back somehow? But both those scenarios seem rather unlikely to me.

Also the reason I see Five as already having killer instincts is because of the scene where he kills the Board of Directors, Five could of done it subtly but nope he just massacres them all (seriously I saw an arm meters away from it’s body).

Another reason why I think Five already has killer instincts is because of what Aidan once said in a yt video; “Five is always suppressing rage.” I think Five has been suppressing his killer instincts since Day 1 because of the love of his family, but is already so close to snapping it’s pretty much inevitable.

Also who wouldn’t go completely insane from being forced to live in a post-apocalyptic world for 45 years with little to no food and no one but a broken mannequin to talk to?

I’m sorry if I hurt anyone with this sudden angst, I hurt myself. I also really don’t want this to happen because I really want season three to just give my husband a fucking break for once.

hargreeves birth order rearranged + new zodiac signs

i know the actual numerical order is: luther (one), diego (two), allison (three), klaus (four), five, ben (six), and vanya (seven). also technically they’re all the same age (30) and zodiac sign (libra). but i’m bored in the house and i’m in the house bored. so i did this :)

allison (#3)-of the hargreeves, she feels the most put together. she rumored her way into pretty much everything she had. but she still got to establish a life for herself outside of the academy. plus she also feels the most level headed, even tho it’s limited by her childhood experiences of trauma. like. her decision making skills take a minute to mature, but it happens eventually. she’s also the most likely to make a plan and actually get other people to support it. which explains her big capricorn energy. dependable, good with money, closed off emotionally, and judgmental.

ben (#6)-we didn’t get to see much of original timeline ben before he died. but he strikes me as someone who’s gained a lot of his observational skills from being dependable and usually on the sideline. i’m not counting some of his behavior in season 2 since he’d clearly gotten to a point of so desperately wanting to experience life again that he would take advantage of his own brother. (love me some ben but he was wrong for that.) but to me that screams second oldest who has as much responsibility without getting the praise for it. that’s also why he strikes me more as a virgo.

five (#5)-otoh he’s the oldest with the most experience, which unfortunately includes multiple apocalypses within a three week period. he has most moments where you can literally see all those years of experience in his eyes. otoh he’s a hot head who literally spits fire when his siblings don’t do what he wants or needs them to do. he sucks at communicating his needs but has all the energy to get pissed when they don’t get mad. if he was any more of an aries he’d have horns.

(alternately, five could also be a scorpio. he feels his emotions way more intensely than he likes to let on and he can cut someone with words alone. plus there’s his little violent streak.)

vanya (#7)-she’s the true neutral of the family. she was pretty much completely ignored by the family outside of some occasional moments of affection from five, pogo, or grace. constantly looked over, talked down to, or belittled, she eventually snaps and destroys the world. twice. all from residual trauma she’s endured as a child and is also enduring as an adult as she goes from one reginald to another in the form of her hard to please, super judgmental conductor. with her ability to simmer under the surface for years only to calm pretty fast after she goes off, that sounds like pisces behavior to me.

diego (#2)-like allison and vanya, diego accomplished the most outside of the family. it didn’t last very long, but he joined the police academy, gained contacts, and is able to do his whole vigilante thing because he uses his charm to make friends in the right places who don’t mind looking the other way. he falls in love with detective eudora patch (rip😔) and lila pitts even though they eventually part ways. he makes a life for himself, even if it is in the boiler room of the boxing ring he works at. once he’s convinced he’s right it’s hard to convince him otherwise. even when he’s not working with all the facts. sounds like leo behavior to me.

luther (#1)-he’s not exactly the baby of the bunch. he’s young acting enough to need adult supervision but old enough to not realize it. so he’s got exactly two speeds. season 1, where’s jumping into the role of leader and taking charge even when he doesn’t have enough information to give anyone orders; or season 2, where he’s mostly content to hang out in the back ground, help where he can, and let others (like five) take charge. he’s initially resentful and standoff-ish until he finds that letting go of the past helps me move into the future. what a cancer way of getting his shit together.

(alternately, luther could also be a taurus. on account of all the munching he does in season 2 and how willing he is to take a supportive backseat.)

klaus (#4)-he’s absolutely the baby of the bunch. he’s irresponsible and doesn’t give a fuck because his family has always seen him as too young to be responsible or dependable. he flies off by the seat of his pants and he’s impulsive as the day is long. but deep down in the soft areas of his heart that he’s sometimes too sensitive to acknowledge is the strength to be there for his family when they need him. he’s not always the first time stand up. but he gets there eventually. he’s also a very sensual person. so it makes sense that of all these actually-libras, he’s the most libra of them all.

the difference in the personal experiences the hargreeves have during s3 is fucking wild. luther is in his anna from frozen era, having the time of his fucking life. diego is a horse girl, carefully befriending the wild stallion (lila) he met last season. allison is enduring the Agonies. klaus is having a father-son bonding speedrun that will totally end well. five is submitting his two weeks notice to the universe, which receives it, laughs in his face, and starts kicking him in the shins. ben is ummmmmm turbodead. viktor is riding the wave of Family Acceptance and the apocalypse not being his fault this time except oh wait, no, it kind of is again 😔  what a season...
