There’s a twisting pain in Rollo’s heart as he watches you from across the room, dancing with someone who isn’t him. He should have known better than to fantasize about you being his because you weren’t and you would never be but that didn’t stop him from foolishly hoping that you would ask to dance with him.

He couldn’t help but look at you, because you were smiling and laughing and enjoying yourself. And because of that, he saw exactly how tenderly the boy dancing with you held you, his smile soft and eyes crinkled at the edges. He shouldn’t have been touching you. He shouldn’t have been dancing with you.

That should be him.

It was so, so selfish of him to want you so bad, even though you didn’t even care that he existed.

You brought hope to the city Rollo cherished so much, you brought your magicless, pure self into his life and had the gall to disregard him. How could you, when you were his everything?

He could still feel your fingers slipping against his when he helped you up the Bell Tower’s steps.

He could still feel your breath against his ear when you leaned over his shoulder to see what he was working on.

He could still see your smile when you tried a delicious pastry from one of his favorite cafes.

But you forgot about those moments as soon as they passed.

Rollo winces when the mage you’re dancing with presses a soft kiss to your skin, cherishing the patches of skin Rollo would never touch. Wetness slides down his cheeks and he touches his face softly, unaware of when he had started crying. Frustration wells up in his chest and he whips around, storming away from the scene that ripped his heart out and trampled it on the cobblestones.

Rollo had lost you before you were ever his.

You were happier with someone that wasn’t him.

And you’d never even give him a chance, because all you cared about was yourself.

Finished the first four prompts for #feedist kinktober!! >:3 I'm having SO much fun with these oh my GOSH 1. Contrast - Amari delivers some food looking just a *tiny* bit different than his photo XP 2. I loved the idea proposed by anon a while ago of people giving Tau offerings as a way to pass by them, so I thought I'd lean into that vibe and make them look like some kinda royal just for funsies~ They've gotten quite comfortable with this arrangement as you can see >;3 3. Cozy Comforts - Hugo with a few of his favorite things, tea, soup, and pasta!! I couldn't stop smiling while I was drawing his delighted little expressions 😭💖💖

4. Marshmallow - Oh no! Damien got turned into a little marshmallow guy! It would be such a shame if he went in the microwave for a bit and expanded a bunch and got really chunky... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

(Damien's a little unsure at first but is definitely enjoying this just as much as Vanessa~ ;3)

You can feel Beel pawing at your fluffy sweater, his lips sealing yours as you stand out of Hell’s Kitchen. After a lovely holiday dinner, he’d insisted on taking you to a nearby cafe so the two of you could sample some of the new sweets they'd procured for the holiday season.

Those plans were put on hold, however, when you spotted the mistletoe hanging from the canopy shading the outside area of the restaurant.

Beel had been confused when you’d pointed it out, stuck in his hunger haze as you adamantly tugged him over to it. Once you’d explained the tradition to him, he’d been all too inclined to participate, just so long as he could go to the cafe with you afterward.

“You taste good.” he murmurs against your lips, catching them again. 

You feel your heart skip a beat at the compliment and hold back your laughter, wrapping your arms around his neck.

Is he talking about the meal you order at Hell’s Kitchen all the time? Yes. Do you mind? Never.

He breaks away with one of his sweet, puppy dog smiles, and if you weren’t already smiling you would have smiled at the sight of him alone.

“I love you so much.” you confess, burying your face into his chest and holding him tight, so tight that you hope your heart will reach into his chest and touch him for real so he can feel the same things you are.

“I love you too.” he says, and he hugs you just as tightly to prove it.

Tears bubble up in your eyes but you blink them back, heart overflowing with too much love to think about anything other than him and the way he feels.

Oh, you wouldn’t want to spend this winter with anyone else.

Even when his stomach growls and shatters the moment.
