Yay!!! Glasses ask!! I've been wearing glasses for more than half of my life and sometimes it's hard for me to remember that not all people wear them and I don't need to describe it to the reader.
Konig would be soooo in love with your glasses!! He understands you might be insecure, but there is something inherently sexy for him in your adorable face framed with glasses, and he just wants to smooch you with kisses and buy you half a dozen different frames to try everything. He is extremely observant, so when she loses her lenses or they expire and she forgets to order new ones...he knows where it is, but he might just not tell you so he can see you in glasses!
He knows how insecure you might be, he doesn't understand why you would be like this, you're literally perfect, but he knows that a few off comments ten years ago can make you afraid about wearing glasses - so he showers you in praise and takes care of anyone who made you feel this way. Just...don't be surprised when a school reunion will be canceled for the lack of attendance who didn't mysteriously disappear.
Konig in reading glasses....let's just take that he is old, like late thirties old - his vision might still be fine on the field, but he needs glasses for reading and for shiny screens. He gets all blushy and flustered when you say that he looks hot wearing it, and his mind cannot comprehend his darling calling him sexy.....he sees his glasses like weakness, alive manifestation of age finally getting to him - but you see him sitting on the couch, glasses on his nose, reading something from his insanely bright phone...yeah, he is getting fucked tonight.
Younger Konig who just have shitty sight, so he needs to wear glasses when he is out of the field - and he is even more embarrassed when you say that he looks cute, sexy, that you like it...he might reconsider getting lasik now.

Good Omens season 2 is about what religious trauma does to indoctrinated people, and here’s why.
so i finally watched Good Omens after my friends BEGGED me to ever since the first season first dropped and even though the ending stabbed me in the balls repeatedly for several hours i can’t help but marvel about how genius the ending really is and how crucial it is to both Aziraphale and Crowley as characters
i was hesitant to watch this show bc i was indoctrinated and conditioned by evangelicalism from birth (i’m literally the kid of two ex-missionaries and my dad was a chaplain for 36 years) and i knew that i could easily get triggered if i wasn’t careful.
i’m so glad i watched this show. there’s many reasons but i really just wanna talk about the ending of s2 aka The Divorce. it went entirely over my friends heads bc none of them grew up in the church but when i watched the ending it felt like i was watching pieces of myself at war with each other even though they didn’t want to be. to me, i was watching two people so broken by heaven and hell that they don’t understand that what they’re doing is hurting themselves more than it’s hurting each other. this is a pretty long ramble so i’ll continue under the cut
Aziraphale and Crowley are two halves of the same coin (literally soulmates) and are narrative foils to each other. obviously right, i mean, everyone noticed that. but what they truly represent in the grand scheme of things is the fallout of religious trauma. Crowley has seen the absolute Worst of heaven and the angels. he’s been outcast, scorned, and tortured for (assuming based on the opening scene of season 2) simply asking questions and questioning his faith. Aziraphale is the poster child of what a good angel is in the eyes of heaven and has reaped the benefits for millennia.
what is happening here is a war between two halves of a whole, Denial vs Bitterness.
as a young child it was drilled into my head over and over that my faith had to be as strong as a rock all the time or i would crumble like sand. i idolized all the bible characters and memorized all the verses and did all the good and right things i was supposed to. i was a standard in all the churches i went to, i was the example of what a good christian was, and i knew it.
then, over time, i began to see behind the curtain on what was really going on in the church and i was devastated. how could something based on love do all of that? why am i so scared to think freely? why do i feel like i can never be good enough? the more i questioned the more shame i felt and the more bitter i became, but i longed to go back to that innocence of being the best little christian kid in the church.
Aziraphale cannot truly comprehend the uncomfortable reality that what he’s been subscribing to all this time isn’t good for him. heaven has been hurting him for a long time and he doesn’t understand that. how can something he thinks is so right, so true, so good hurt him and his friends so much? no, it must be something he’s done right? it must be some bad apples right? the whole orchard can’t be bad right? he just has to fix this. he just has to make it better for him and for Crowley and then everything will be ok again.
Crowley can’t wrap his mind around why Aziraphale cares so fucking much. hasn’t he seen what heaven and hell have done? they barely stopped the end of the fucking world!!! they tried to destroy both of them with holy water and hellfire!!!!! they’re still trying to meddle in their personal lives after everything!!! why is Aziraphale so stubborn???? why does he choose something so asinine over him? Crowley has been there for Aziraphale a hell of a lot more than heaven has, can’t he see that?
both of them are hurting deep down into their very souls and they just can’t see it. that’s what religious trauma does to you. it strips you so bare of your personhood that without your religion, who are you? without your god, you’re just an empty shell. you’re nothing without “us”, without the church.
without Aziraphale trying and failing to fix heaven, he’s never gonna understand how corrupt of a system it all is.
without Crowley learning that Aziraphale is hurting just as much as he is, he’s never gonna learn that Aziraphale really had his best intentions at heart and just wanted to do what he thought was the good thing
without both of them realizing that they’re both wrong, they’re never gonna come together and really stand up for themselves and for their friends and for earth as a whole. without this grief, without this pain, without this separation, they’re never going to be truly free
and i, for one, cannot wait to see them kick some ass when they decide that enough is enough

And Eat It, Too: Chapter One: Into the Fire
The voice gets under his skin. Is it pleasing or terrifying? Inside his head or out? Is it even real, or is his still-human brain just cobbling monster-sounds into something he can comprehend?
It’s impossible to get out of his head, whether literal or not.
Doesn’t matter, though, because the answer Michael gives is a terrible one, and ends the same way: Gertrude could protect herself, Jon can’t, and he’s going to die for her sins.
Chapter One, In which Jon escapes the Circus in an unexpected way, and makes a promise he may come to regret…

Each chapter diverges more from the canon. We're talking butterfly-effect chaos here, folks.

CHAPTER ONE
Jon hasn’t breathed in a while.
He’s vaguely aware of it, aware his lungs feel tight and terrible, as if transformed into the wet leather that supposedly comprises Michael’s skin.
He can’t bring himself to care. He can care later, when the statement is done.
“To have your who torn bloody from your what, and another crudely lashed into its place,” says the thing that ate Michael, the thing that is Michael, and even though the Distortion’s experience was and is in no way human, Jon knows.
Pain without terror, shock without fear (because it is fear and cannot feel those things), but it is so much rage and all consuming and Jon whites out.
And then, Michael laughs.
It’s better than a slap. Knives in the ears, eyeballs straining as if pushed out by his swelling brain.
“That is what I am,” finishes Michael, and Jon thinks, Yes, headache and dizziness seem about right.
And Jon can breathe.
He’s still going to die. Still covered in layers of old, floral moisturizer. Still under threat of being skinned alive.
But he has so many questions.
What was it like to “become,” how much of human-Michael does he remember, did he pick up Michael’s tastes like ice cream flavors and preferred teas or only his rage, what happened to the map, why did the map matter, did Michael actually die with anger toward Gertrude or is that only Distortion-Michael’s thing –
And a question pops out, slips like a marble between his lips, too heavy and wet to stop and just as disruptive. “But you… you never tried to take revenge on Gertrude?”
And for whatever insane reason, Michael keeps answering him.
It’s like it really does want him to know.
If you’re going to die, at least you’ll do it on a full stomach, Jon thinks with rising hysteria, and almost laughs.
Michael’s voice is indescribable. Jon’s tried; started and stopped numerous tapes, tried to talk to Tim about it (once), tried to bring it up with Martin.
Tried with Elias, too, who just smiled at him and said nothing. Of course.

Funny, that every single one of his failures just serves to highlight whatever Gertrude was, compared to him.
I should probably be more scared than just tired, he thinks, as if trying to summon a proper terror, but it fails. He is just tired.
Maybe he’s out of fear. Run empty, like a helium balloon gone flaccid on the floor.
(How did Gertrude protect herself, did she have some kind of object, was it another ritual like binding herself to Agnes—)
The questions don’t stop. They never stop. They are an avalanche, burying him beneath cold, white weight if he isn’t careful. But Jon supposes only one matters now, because no matter how much it all hurts, he doesn’t want to die. “Is there anything I can do to stop you from killing me?”
He can feel that the Eye wanted something juicier. Jon already knows the answer (No), and therefore learns nothing by asking it. Even now, the damned bloody Eye doesn’t care if he suffers or dies—only that it is fed.
Michael, apparently, did like it, and its tone transforms to horrifyingly sweet, to irreverently gentle, to delicately poisoned as it says, “I promise you will die far more pleasantly with me than with them.”
It sounds like it’s offering some kind of illicit spa-day, not an invite to the end.
Jon sighs. So, he thinks. Stay here and be skinned, watch bits of myself stuffed into mannequins, and die knowing they will be used to end the whole damned world…
Or get chased through madness-corridors by a pointy monster who wants me confused enough to eat.
Tears take his vision just for a moment. He doesn’t want this. Not any of this.
Elias said it, didn’t he? You never wanted this, no. But I’m afraid you absolutely did choose it. In a hundred ways, at a hundred thresholds, you pressed on. You sought knowledge relentlessly, and you always chose to see. Our world is made of choices, Jon, and very rarely do we truly know what any of them mean, but we make them, nonetheless.
Jon needs no powers to know that if Elias were here right now, Jon would deck him.
And probably break my hand, he thinks bitterly. Would be worth it.
The thing is, it’s not a choice, is it?
Stay for skinning, and the world ends.
Choose madness, and while that won’t save anything, it won’t lead to apocalypse.
Michael was right. Here Jon is, bringing about the Unknowing faster—unless he takes this deal.
So the universe loses a monster, Jon thinks, and means not hurting anyone but himself. “Okay.”
Michael snips the ropes with its knife-fingers and disturbing accuracy, leaving his skin and nasty, sodden clothes untouched. “Good. Right this way.”
Jon bristles right out of melancholy.
Michael sounds so pleased with him. Like Jon is a misbehaving child who finally got it under control. Like choosing how to end his own life (in pain or in pain) is somehow just ridiculous, and overwrought, and it’s about time he got back with the program.
Jon is scowling as he stands, ropes falling away. His limbs creak. His clothing sticks to him miserably; some of the lotion they used dried against the cloth, and for some reason, made the fabric stiff.
It scratches his torso as he moves, nauseating.
At least they left him clothed. Didn’t make plastic hands reaching under it to rub goo all over him any better, but dying naked sounds worse. Just worse.
“Open it,” says Michael in such a gentle voice, soothing, as if it’s merciful, as if it means to sing Jon to his final rest. “Open it, and all this will be over.”
The door is there. Yellow. Incongruous in this storage room filled with mutated mannequins and horrifying waxworks. “There’s no point to this,” Jon mutters, walking slowly toward the door. “They’ll just hire another one.”
“What?” says Michael.
Jon’s tone is as sharp its hands. “If you want to hurt the Eye, this won’t matter to it. It doesn’t care about me. Elias doesn’t care. They’ll just hire someone else. That’s all I’m saying.”
“That is a sentence,” Michael says, sounding oddly affronted.
And lunacy takes control. “Fine words from a fear-god undone by a damned scribble!”
Michael stares at him. The fake-human face is blank, as much a mask as the plastic things that have been slathering lotion all over him for who knows how long, but before Jon can ask (what’s wrong now, what DID the map do anyway, do you even emote naturally or is it all fake, were those Michael Shelley’s expressions or are you copying someone else’s), the Distortion spins away from him, dissolving into smeary, limp limbs and dark, static mist, stretching into a jagged and multidimensional thing that hurts to see as it lunges for its own door.
The door doesn’t want to open.
It’s slow. The monster of deformation and twisting strains to open it, snarling like a cut electric wire, and wrenches it free just enough for its cosmic-horror self to slip through.
And suddenly, Jon is alone. “What?” he says to an empty room.
The door is still there. It didn’t vanish. It hangs ajar, beckoning.
“What?” he says again.
“Go check!” Nikola’s voice flutes in from somewhere.
The cramped casket sings loud, but not loud enough to drown out screaming, Michael had said, and Michael sure had made some kind of sound there, and was this the goal all along, perhaps, to alert the Circus, to leave Jon helpless, to give him a smidgeon of hope and then abandon him to his fate?
Jon panics.
The door is stuck. It’s open about as wide as his palm, and Jon is a small man, but even he can’t fit through that.
Voices are coming, familiar and attached to large, rough hands, and Jon pulls at the door, panting, bracing his feet on the wall with all his might. It moves as if it’s never opened, as if it’s been half-welded shut, as if it weighs a million stone. Just a few more inches—
The storeroom door—so mundane compared to this thing, not even painted—slams open.
“OI!” shouts Breekon or Hope, but Jon is already through.
By some miracle, from the other side, it’s willing to close, and he slams it, clinging to the handle and leaning and trembling, sure they’re going to pile in after him and skin him anyway.
Then the Corridors do their thing, and he isn’t sure he’s holding a door handle.
Or if there was a handle at all.
He looks down, trying to confirm what he knows, but nope—he’s holding his own hands.
Wait.
There is no door.
There was a door. Wasn’t there?
Wait.
Jon shakes his head. It’s the Corridors. They do this. He stands within a physical manifestation of the Spiral. Disorientated is part of the fun.
He’s ready to die, but it’s somehow insulting that he has to be muddled while doing it.
He’s so tired.
Where is the bloody monster, anyway? “If you’re quite finished with your snit, or whatever that was, I’m here. Get it over with!” He closes his eyes, then waits.
Waits a minute more.
Nothing happens.
Jon peeks.
It looks like it always does in here: horrible. Swirling, weird wallpaper, faded yellow carpet, weirdly curving black rug on top of that. Lamps interspersed with paintings or mirrors, all showing this same Corridor, but slightly wrong.
Though now he looks at it, the Corridor seems wrong, too.
It’s subtle. The swirls on the wallpaper have smudged. The electric lamps flicker—not as if replaced by flame, but as if the current is disrupted. And the yellow carpet has darkened to a strange, rotten-fruit brown.
The Distortion is nowhere to be found. It’s not even chasing him.
After all of that, it’s just going to let him stand here?
“Michael!” Jon snaps, because good lord.
Nothing.
Behind him, the corridor turns right. Ahead of him, the corridor turns right. Both are lies.
And even here, the Eye nudges him: Go see. Curious. Want to see. What’s there?
But is it the Eye, really? How many times had he wandered off as a child, returned by police because he’d gone too far, unable to keep himself from doing it again? He always had to see more, to witness every inch of a place with his own eyes, even if he knew it would just be more dull old streets and smelly old pubs.
Is it really the Eye, or is it him?
Maybe it doesn’t matter.
He walks.
He looks forward and back, but they’re identical. He sighs, about to go it at random, when a movement catches his eye.
The pictures still show distorted versions of this place, but something is happening with the mirrors. There’s movement—thrashing. Wild motion, and it isn’t just the Distortion’s monster-form doing it. That’s—
No.
It can’t be.
He walks right up, rising to his toes to peer into the mirror.
“Helen?” he says, fogging the glass.
It is. She’s alive.
Helen, in the mirrors, shown from different angles and silently screaming, twisting, distorting, then shrinking into herself again, and Jon knows where she is.
He’s running before he can think, running without any plan, gripping this strange knowing with everything he has, lest it slip away. He turns right, then right again, then again, and on the fourth impossible twisting, he nearly trips over her.
Helen is on her knees, clenching a dirty piece of paper, and she’s stretching like salt-water taffy.
Screams contort her face, though there is no sound. She’s a nightmare, yawning eyes and too many teeth, but then she’s just her, again—looking gray and sweaty, gasping and lost.
“Helen!” He grips her shoulders, flinches back at the sponginess of them, then grips again and shakes. “Helen!”
She can’t see him. She isn’t aware of him at all. Her face elongates, twists, warps. Her eyes swirl like paint going down a drain.
He’s losing her.
No, no, no—he already lost her once, already knew the heart-dumping horror of her walking through the wrong door right in his office and his pitiful failure to notice, he can’t do this again—
Be usefully monstrous for once he thinks, and bellows: “What do you see?” It flames from his mouth, his heart, vomiting out with such force that it feels like he dumped his soul onto her head.
Her swirling eyes fix on him. “Y... you, you’re that man…”
Pity Elias isn’t here—he’d love the show, Jon thinks hysterically, and grips her tighter. “Focus! Focus on me. You are Helen Richardsdon. You work for Wolverton Kendrick in Wimbledon. Focus on me, Helen, remember who you are!”
And he can feel he’s going to pay for this later, for the borrowing of weird power he hasn’t even grown yet, the current of his Entity shuttling through his mortal flesh. If he hadn’t fed on Michael’s statement, he wouldn’t have been able to do this at all.
It works.
Helen stills. Focuses on him, her body calming, human form solidifying. Then she starts to cry.
Clutches at him, clinging, with hands abruptly properly sized and a face no longer smeared like glue on a road.
“I’ve got you, I’ve got you,” Jon lies, because he doesn’t even “got” himself, but what else can he say? He’s ready to cry.
He did it. He saved her.
He couldn’t save Sasha.
He’s lost Tim, for all that Tim is still alive.
He thought he lost Helen. But he saved her.
He’s trembling, now, weak as wet tissue, but there’s not much he can do about that. Not a lot of statements there, in the Circus. Not shared with him, anyway.
(And he refuses to heed the yearning/regret pushing through because he could have had statements and wouldn’t that have been wonderful?)
His knee crinkles paper, and he looks down.
The map. She dropped it.
He picks it up, folds it badly, and shoves it in his pocket.
Hoping that Michael will not skewer them together like a very smelly kabob, he looks around.
The extra wrongness is gone. The lights are steady. The color is yellow again, except where… fluid… of some kind has leaked out of Helen, staining her clothes, marking the floor. Best not touch that.
“Helen, I… I need you to stay very quiet. All right?” he says. “Very quiet. Don’t say anything.”
She nods, curls in on herself, clutches her arms as if to keep from exploding. She’s too thin, jacket hanging strangely. Her body odor competes with his.
At least hers isn’t floral-scented.
Dehydrated, he thinks, though he wasn’t—they wanted his skin soft, so they forced water—
He shakes the memory away.
Hellen had no sustenance in here, and nevermind that the damned Spiral kept her alive, regardless. She has to be close to dying.
He has to get her out of here. What did he have to bargain with? Not his life—that’s already given.
The map. Maybe.
This won’t work, he thinks, but he always thinks that, and so makes absolutely sure the map is in his pocket. “Michael. Please come out. I have something to discuss with you.”
“Do you? That would be a treat, Archivist. I was beginning to feel left out.” Michael is speaking from around the next corner. Out of sight.
Jon wonders if it’s damaged. He swallows, takes a deep breath. “I want to make a trade.”
Oh, gods, here comes the laugh.
It hurts, it always hurts, it pierces, it tilts things in a way that isn’t vertigo but somehow worse, because suddenly he’s sure the room was always at this angle and he’d just dreamed it flat.
Helen seems to have passed out in her slump, leaning against him, head down. Good. He hopes she stays there for now.
“Michael,” he says again.
And there it is.
Oh. It was hurt.
The “human” form is stiff, bruises under its blue eyes, the rest of its face hidden under long curls of golden hair. Hands too long, always too long, dragging on the floor.
It stands there, and the way it stands tells Jon this was a painful event. The map. The near-becoming of Helen.
He thinks about it wearing Helen’s face, using her voice, and shudders. Nausea chokes him, just for a moment. “I saved you, didn’t I? By pulling her out of that. Getting the map. Didn’t I?”
“That is a sentence,” says Michael, helpful as always.
Jon clenches his teeth. “Did that help you, or not? Because I can always give it back to her,” which is a ridiculous lie and a ridiculous threat, and Michael laughs again.
“Oh, Archivist… Did you think I would not know a lie, especially from you? Besides—she’s a gift. You were so upset at losing her last time.”
Upset enough to try attacking, and hadn’t that worked out well?
This wasn’t working, either. “I did save your life.”
“If she became me, I would still be me. You didn’t do anything, Archivist.”
Oh, to hell with it. “Let me take her to a hospital.”
It makes a surprised sound he cannot interpret, but certainly did not come from a human throat. “Why would I do that?”
“I’ll come back. I’ll walk right into your door in the damned A&E in front of everybody, I don’t care. Just let me get her to a hospital.” And the word sticks in his throat like a chunk of carrot, but he has to try: “Please.”
The thing tilts its head and the Corridor twists with it (no it didn’t, you were just wrong to think the room had angles like some fairy tale), and Jon sways, but keeps his eyes locked.
Instead of answering, it lunges.
Jon can’t help his reaction, shoving Helen out of the way and scrambling backwards and tripping over his own hands.
The thing pins him to the carpet, flat on his back, knife-hands on his shoulders and draped over him like suffocation.
It has a weight that makes no sense, like sacks of something rather than a living thing. Weighted blanket of madness, he thinks with rising hysteria.
“I am going to kill you,” says Michael.
“I know,” Jon snaps, because he is so done with all of this. “Just let me help her first! You said she was a gift, right? Why? Why was she a gift? For what purpose? And how does it count as a gift if you’re going to let her die, anyway?”
“That is a question,” it whispers, and doesn’t move.
Jon’s eyes water, but he won’t look away. He swallows. “Please.”
“What will you give me to delay your inevitable end, Archivist?”
Damn this creature. “I saved your—” No, that obviously wasn’t working. “The manner of my death. How about that? If you want me to run, I’ll run. Scream like a child, whatever. Just let me help her first.”
That, apparently, was the best thing he could have told it.
Michael springs off him with a laugh that keeps him pinned down, and Jon has to cover his eyes and wait until the room stops undulating like a snake with its head caught under a log.
There’s a creak, and a splash of new light. Jon peeks.
A door to a street.
And that’s the Chelsea and Westminster hospital.
Jon knows it chose a place right down the street from the Magnus Institute to see what he would do.
He glares at Michael, is what he does, then carefully pulls Helen to her feet.
She’s feverish now, visibly dazed, but at least she’s able to walk. Please don’t be too late, he thinks, and is grateful that she can help get through the door because he absolutely could not carry her.
He’s sure he’s on a dozen cameras right now, dragging a clearly tortured woman across the street, but that’s too bad. It’s not like the police could prosecute a dead man for presumed kidnapping, could they?
He gets her to the front of the building where someone in scrubs comes running over.
Jon hands her off, says, “Found her this way,” which is true, and leaves before they can clock his own exhaustion, his own lack of food and hollow cheeks, the fact that his clothing is alternately crunchy and oil-thick and reeks abominably of flowers.
Back across the street. Someone shouts, “Hey!” just as he gets through Michael’s door.
That took more out of him than he’d expected, and he sinks right to the carpeted floor.
The door is gone. He doesn’t need to know to know it. Dark anticipation has thickened this place, thrums through the walls and pulses in the floor like an excited heartbeat, and he’d find it absolutely hypnotic if he weren’t about to die.
The good news is his adrenal spike is most definitely depleted.
He can’t be afraid anymore. Not really. Not this tired.
And… she’s safe.
He barely knew her, but that wasn’t the point. He saved someone he thought he’d lost.
Saving them is the only damn thing he’s been trying to do since the beginning of this mess, no matter what Elias says.
If he were alone, he’d cry.
“Archivist,” Michael sings at him.
It’s almost over.
Jon exhales. “No rest for the weary? Fine, fine. I’m coming,” he mutters, the soul of good grace, and pushes himself to his feet. “What do you want me to—”
Michael slams into him like a lion and pins him against the wall, hard enough to knock out his breath.
So, Jon was wrong. He can still be afraid. Horribly.
Michael laughs.
Jon whites out again, just for a moment.
It’s almost pleasant. Pressed there, compressed, hidden from the world. Unable to think if only and not enough and too late. So what if he doubts his senses? It doesn’t matter.
Though, if it wants him to run, it’s going to have to put him down.
Nothing happens.
He peeks.
It’s not wearing its human face. Looking into that non-face, into a thousand teeth and none, into boneless power and torsioned physics, is too much, and he closes his eyes again.
“You’re right, you know,” it says, and drops him.
He wasn’t prepared. Stumbles, falls to his knees. Blood-sugar facts scroll behind his eyes like ticker tape. “What?”
“This is a conundrum, Archivist,” says Michael.
“How awful for you,” he drones, and flinches through its laugh. Fingers like knives cup his chin, and he looks up quickly, not risking the cuts, even though he’s going to die and this is stupid.
“You have surprised me, Archivist,” says Michael. “Humans are so often wrong, deluded by their own certainties, fooled by memories they think they can trust. But you are right.”
“What? Which part? About what?”
“Leave,” says Michael.
Another door.
Through it, Jon sees the steps of the Magnus Institute. “Wh… what?”
In response, Michael waves gracefully at it, long fingers chattering against one another and juddering his reality with each click.
Jon stares through the door, looks up at Michael, back at the door.
Is it a trick? Will it kill him once he’s out, in front of someone? Will it just let him go for a while, then scare him to death in the middle of the night?
Michael looks human again, but it doesn’t smile. “Leave. Before I change my mind—and I am wont to do that, Archivist, quite often.”
Jon bolts out of hope more than fear.
He knows it’s going to kill him, anyway. If not it, something else. But maybe—
He’s through the door and tripping up the stairs, some part of him screaming not TOWARD the institute you absolute PILLOCK, unable to pull himself from the utter magnetism of home home home even though this is not his home and never could be but oh gods it really is.
The door slams shut behind him, so loud that it echoes down the street, so loud that he doesn’t realize Elias is at the top of the stairs, and Jon barrels into him and nearly knocks them both over.
“Well,” says Elias, who stabilizes them before Jon can fall and smash open his face. “That was dramatic.”
Jon tells Elias to go do something biologically impossible to himself, and then sinks into the dark.

ranting cause this is my little corner of the internet and I can.
i literally cannot comprehend why people are so rude. Why?? I have terrible anxiety and it gets worse in crowded stores and takes a lot of energy from me. I often like to go with a friend or my boyfriend so I am more grounded and have a distraction from everything.
When I go into very large stores with lots of people and especially small areas with crowds, it makes it hard for me to breathe and I get a little light headed and have a hard time concentrating. of course, sometimes I’m okay, and others I feel like I’m gonna vomit everywhere. When I start getting too overwhelmed I usually sit or kneel down so I can take a moment to calm down. I’ve been bothered multiple times while doing so. Once when I was sitting on the side of an aisle, I think by the pasta and sauces and an older woman told me to get up. I looked at her and felt super on edge from her saying that to me and simply told her no and tried to look at my phone so hopefully she’d leave me be. I was alone this trip. Of course, she did her little nasty look and mutters and got what she needed and walked away. Just because I’m not fucking hyperventilating and crying on the floor doesn’t mean I don’t need to be down there. Sometimes it’s just a matter of catching my breath and texting someone.
Yesterday, I was out with my lovely boyfriend and we sat down in the book aisle and I was looking through one with him. It really helped with the nausea I was feeling. An employee walked by and proceeded to just fucking stare and give us this grossed out look. Luckily he didn’t say anything and just proceeded to try to hide behind a counter and play on his phone.
I just cannot fathom why some people care so much?? It’s not like you’re the one on the floor?? If I’m in the way of something you need, just ask me politely and I’ll move out of the way. It just makes me feel so fucking sad for anyone with a hidden disability. I’m sure I could just walk out of the store or whatever, but I’m not hurting anyone, and what about folks who can’t just get up? Who are having it a whole lot worse than me?. People who are struggling shouldn’t just be ogled at or told to get up or get over it. It costs nothing to be respectful and kind.

am i the only one that doesn’t think it’s funny when people make fun of the scene of will crying and turn it into a joke when it was one of his most emotional and heartbreaking moments ever like yes yes call me sensitive i don’t care i AM sensitive when it comes to that scene because i just don’t understand what’s so funny about it!!!! like trust me i love a good laugh now and then and there’s MANY things that crack me up even if other people don’t find it that funny but i GENUINELY cannot comprehend why people find this scene so hilarious and why it became a meme?
his hair was the LAST thing i was focused on because it was such a serious scene 😭 again i get making one or two jokes about it if people are just trying to turn something sad into something more light, but most people who make jokes about it don’t even acknowledge or talk about what ACTUALLY happened in the scene. they don’t talk about what will is going through or how much he’s suffering, they don’t talk about how beautiful his love for mike is and what he just sacrificed, they don’t even realise that will confessed his love to mike because they’re either media illiterate or simply homophobic (or both), and they just laugh at him crying on his own while he’s heartbroken and lonely?????? like i literally just don’t get it, the kid is having a mental breakdown and people are so focused on… his HAIR? it’s childish at this point especially when it’s the same joke over and over again

there's just Something about how greg's constantly asserting himself and being his own advocate for his worth here and that he is deserving of all these higher positions and money and respect…and yet when it comes to tom's affection of him he's completely doubtful
there's not a, 'yes of course he Loves me I deserve to be Loved!'
when tom asks him out, after tom kisses him, a million other times after tom's shown affection for him, greg's always filled with a, 'is this real?' reaction. something he just doesn't have for his up-and-up career status. like, for how awkward he is, he's not shy about pressing to get things.
but Love from tom? it makes him so shy to the point of lack of believing whether it's true, whether he could possibly actually be the recipient of such a thing. he doubts it all.
and even in s4 after they're best friends!!
(and I hope hope hope tom's sticker and double 'I got you,' that was like a cradle, put an end to all that doubt! because what a beautiful end to that arc!!)
hhhhhhhhnnhhf 😩 yeah god it huuuurts and like, you can understand it when you think about greg’s past and how ppl treat him - even ken is neutral at best towards him and he’s the nicest one to him apart from tom lol so it’s no surprise he starts to think he’s unloveable. ppl will just use him and his only worth is what he can give them. his grandpa and mother hold him to an impossible standard in that they’re always shifting the bar, obv more so the former bc we don’t see much w marianne, and act like he’s in the wrong every time. most people come to him when he can give them something, tom is the only exception and even then at least at the start he’s still asking things of him and enjoying the information he can provide. though the difference is tom’s affection is not dependant on it… even if greg wasn’t good at sponging info tom would still love him and keep him around. but greg cannot comprehend that bc why is this time any different? why would someone just… love him, without terms and conditions attached? i think he only starts to realise in 3.09. still not 100% in s4 but i think like, there’s definitely more of a hopefulness that maybe tom means it bc greg tries a lot harder and acts like tom’s literal partner because he wants to be more than just his side piece - he wants to be the sporus who is married to nero. he wants to take care of tom but not in a serving way, in a relationship way. but tbf to him tom is suddenly being cagey and keeping stuff from him and withholding affection and giving him only scraps of info and this rattles greg bc he thought they were progressing? that they were best friends and partners? hell tom acts like his mf husband. and then you’ve got tom and shiv screwing again and on possible reconciliation terms so that probably adds to greg’s fears - it all comes together to shake his faith. he even asks tom in america decides “where we are in terms of us”, referencing matsson and the poor way he treats him but that he likes the trust, which sounds like where his relationship with tom started out and where it has come to and also letting tom know he can trust him, don’t shut me out.
tom is much the same in that he thinks he needs status and power and money to secure greg when greg has genuine affection for him. he doesn’t notice how greg doesn’t pull rank in america decides bc he’s too focused on keeping his position, and later on he’s too set on becoming ceo to realise he’s actually pushing greg away, frightening him into making that call he did to ken in the finale. the fight in the bathroom is the culmination of their frustration in how much they love each other and how the other just doesn’t understand that they do. tom can only see it as mistrust and disloyalty when it was a move for survival and attacks greg. greg can only see tom getting mad at him as ignoring all the hard work and love he has been putting in for him the entire season and that’s why he fights back. it is not fair to him that tom only notices when he does something wrong, when he makes a mistake, not when he does things right, not when he supports and cares for him like an ideal spouse.
i do think the sticker scene was laced with something - it felt different. special. i’ve said before but tom’s forgiveness was not by way of the materialistic this time, he didn’t offer money. he only offered his compassion. he told greg that regardless of his mistakes, he still has him. and greg probably realises then that the reason tom has been acting how he has is bc he’s been fighting for this position so hard to keep greg safe. i think this moment they realise that actually they love each other very much and it’s actually like. for real. greg’s sheer happiness, plus the way he checks tom out again like he has multiple times throughout s4 lol, indicates not only his relief but feeling comfortable and confident enough to act around tom like he has before - like his best friend and partner.

while the reaction to receiving his own vision was lackluster, if someone were to ask albedo the alchemist which element he found the most interesting, he would probably pick dendro
sure he is plenty interested in the other elements
is the water produced by hydro visions safe to drink?
how much earth can be produced with the might of geo? enough to make a new continent entirely? would one geo user suffice or would there need to be a specific number to amass that much earth?
but his interest in them doesn’t hold a candle to the amount of questions he has surrounding dendro as an element.
why? because true to its heart and leaf symbol motif, dendro is the only element in teyvat that is alive. dendro is the element of plants and plants are organic. dendro users are literally creating life with each of their elemental conjurations. try as he might with his geo vision, but that is something he cannot do and the origins of life and creating new life is the entire basis of his research
earth may be capable of housing life, but it isn’t the same as creating it. that is something none of the remaining six elements can do
so if his lover had a dendro vision, he would undoubtedly try to ask you to participate in his experiments and have plenty of questions to ask you. do you have the ability to communicate with plants, are you better connected to specific kinds of plants like trees or lilies, and any specific quirks only experienced by dendro vision holders similar to the way pyro vision holders have warmer body temperatures

Pyro and Cryo were the most popular choices, sharp Electro a close third. But no one picked Dendro, you didn’t even pick Dendro.
You were sure the you of your childhood who desired a Hydro Vision desperately after one family trip to Fontaine would be quite disappointed if they discovered you instead received a Vision from the God of Wisdom.
“There’s no element as fascinating to me.” Albedo replied and with a heart that swelled three times that day, you heartily agreed to participate in his research. You just weren’t expecting how many questions and experiments he’d have you go through.
All you wanted today was a simple date that didn’t turn into an experiment, yet there your man was, whipping out his sketchbook. (And you sincerely doubted it was because he wanted to paint you in all your glory.)
xiao: pyro
i feel like xiao would have an appreciation if his lover had a pyro vision. he’d find it suitable for you, you’re passionate. no one would ever be able to say you weren’t
and you were warm, something he’d stop being a long time ago when violence and war became the only things he was good at
yet it was that very warmth that you used to somehow burrow yourself into his heart and pass the wind-chilled block of ice he kept around himself at all the times
pyro was one of the more dangerous elements, in xiao’s opinion. easy to learn but hard to control and master. yet your use of pyro seemed to lean into the warm and life-giving aspects of it. warmth was what kept people and animals alive after all
“Aren’t you cold like that?” You queried with your brows furrowed. “This is cold even for me.” Even being this close to Dragonspine was bone-chilling and yet your adeptus partner acted as if it were nothing, no sleeves. Even worse was how he’d tossed the blanket you brought for him back at you.
Cat-like eyes spared you a glance, “it takes a lot more than this to make me cold.” Xiao replied coolly, making no move to take back his blanket. “You use it, the fire’s enough for me.”
That only made you roll your eyes in turn. “I’m not taking your blanket. I’m fine with what I have.” There was no response. “Xiao. Xiao.” You scowled at the attempt to block you out. “Fine.” You huffed; if he wanted to be stubborn, so could you.
And with some shuffling, you sat beside the yaksha, pressed firmly against him.
“What are you doing?” Xiao’s tone would have sound like an aggressive hiss of rejection to anyone else, but you could recognize the flustered heat of his cheeks despite the night.
“Well you don’t want the blanket, so I figured a Pyro Vision’s warmth was what you wanted instead.” You replied pettily, making yourself comfortable. A moment of silence passed before Xiao begrudgingly accepted his loss and you smiled in satisfaction.
“Remember when I came to Liyue and could barely speak the language?” You mused as you relaxed against the deceptively young man. You’d come a long way since then when all you were to Xiao was a bothersome human and he was a mysterious and brooding man you couldn’t help but be drawn to. Things changed when he’d appeared out of nowhere and saved you from meeting a gruesome end to an ax-slinging mitachurl. “All the tones frustrated me so much. Reading it was easier for me, at least.”
“I remember you telling me that you had a beautiful horse.” Xiao snorted as the temperature between you both spiked at your embarrassment. It wasn’t as if he talked to mortals often, but if there was thing the Vigilant Yaksha had learned over the centuries... it was that outlanders had a very hard time with Liyue’s language and you were no exception.
Wǒ māmā hěn piāoliàng, you’d meant to say as you lovingly boasted about your mother’s beauty. But the third tone of mǎ is what slipped through your lips and just like that, you were bragging about a horse. “Oh, right. You meant to tell me about your mother.” And that wasn’t counting the many times you’d pronounced his name wrong.
Sometimes you’d call him Xiǎo, small. Other times it was Xiào, laugh. It took a long time before you were able to say Xiāo with ease.
“You knew what I meant, let me live that down!” You snapped, giving him a shove. “I help keep you warm and you make fun of me.”
“Aren’t you the one who told me I should adopt a sense of humor?” Just barely, the corners of his lips quirked into a teasing smile. Archons how it was unfair for anyone to be this beautiful and archons how it was unfair that the man in question refused to see it.

may i ask what was the comic you hated? or rank the worst comics you've ever read? ffgjfjf
yes absolutely here are the top ten comics never to fucking touch if you even remotely value yourself and your mental health, in ascending order of how much I fucking hate them:
Animal Man (1988)
Okay, right off the bat, I'll have to admit: Morrison's run is decent. But everyone who claims that this comic is a "classic" or a "masterpiece of what you can accomplish in the medium" has thankfully only ever been subjected to Morrison's drug-fueled meditations on the nature of parallel universes and the importance of animal rights and not the complete and utter shitshow that was 50+ issues of: Animal Man turning into the knock-off Jersey Devil, Animal Man losing control of his powers and running around the suburbs naked and howling at the moon, Animal Man turning his daughter into the figurehead of a cult for reasons I still do not understand and do not care to comprehend.
Like I cannot even describe to you how divorced these plotlines are from any semblance of thought processes other than "how do I make this as fucked up as possible?" And I know it's a Vertigo title and I know that it's kind of par for the course in that regard but surely. Surely we can do better than this. Anyway, my favorite character was Animal Man's son, Cliff, who didn't deserve literally anything that happened to him I hope he has a good life.
2. Aquaman (1994)
I know. I know that a lot of people like this book. It is apparently a great book when you close your eyes and ignore everything that actually happens in the book. And let me tell you I tried. I read about ~60 issues of this garbage fire before giving up. It's just gritty, meaningless nonsense intermixed with feeble attempts at worldbuilding and increasingly icky romantic ventures. Like, Aquaman loses a hand to a bunch of carnivorous piranhas (haha), gets possessed by alien technology he found under Atlantis (???), and flies into frequent rages over the people around him, understandably, refusing to obey his every command (good for them). He's an asshole! And not even in a good way! No one in this comic has any semblance of an emotional connection to each other, be it good or bad, and their motivations often fall flat because of that. Not to mention that the colorist just. Pinkified the Inuit character. Great. Awesome. I hate it here.
3. Plastic Man (2004)
How. How did this book get an Eisner Award. Did we read the same fucking comic??? Was bribery involved??? I feel insane. All you need to know about this book is that its very last issue had a joke about the act of necrophilia on a minor. And for a book that was marketed based on its humor, it had one (1) funny panel, and that was it. Bad. I'm so sorry Plastic Man maybe you'll get a series I'll actually enjoy reading one day...
4. Green Lantern: New Guardians
Congratulations, you gave Kyle superpowers equal to a god! Now what interesting and impactful stories are you going to tell with this newfound power of his that doesn’t completely detract from the previous themes or further convert the franchise into blatant military propaganda? ...What do you mean you’re going to make Ganthet into Kyle’s father figure. Why did you create a romantic relationship between him and Carol. Why is every modern Green Lantern comic obsessed with the supposed benefits of a universal police presence when everything prior to the 2005 series consistently denounced it. This entire book was just a paltry imitation of the Ion arc of the 90s, and you should that instead of this, because this was just OOC nonsense.
5. Green Lantern: Rebirth
Parallax retcon written by Geoff Johns. Enough said.
6. The Flash (2011)
Once again mutilated from the corpse of actually good material, this comic is a coagulated monstrosity of editorial bullshit and increasingly desperate attempts at portraying the cops as the Good Guys. Hell, during this shitshow of a book, Barry arrests his own future nephew for spray-painting anti-Flash sentiments onto an alley, who, may I add, was introduced in this scene, and as a black character. Love that. Furthermore, Barry’s personality solely consists of being overly attached to his work and his primary motivation to being a hero is a rip-off of Batman’s origins. Iris has been dumbed down and smoothed out into unrecognizability and her romantic relationship to Barry has no basis or emotion to it. Just. Everything about this comic is OOC and completely disingenuous to previous canon and deliberately mean-spirited towards its fans. It doesn’t even feel like it wants to tell a good story. It just feels like it wants to shame the readers for liking the characters and themes that existed before the reboot.
7. Fate
The epitome of everything wrong about 90s comics. A powerful protagonist with no motivation behind any of his actions, overly complicated storylines with no plot cohesion, and a constant gritty and pessimistic atmosphere that serves no purpose other than to exemplify the main character’s unlikability. You could, in theory, say that that was the entire point of the comic, but that still doesn’t change the fact that this book is needlessly preachy and self-absorbed and just plain boring. Loved it when the main character died in JSA. Bad.
8. Secret Six (2006)
On rare occasions, I see individuals lauding Gail Simone as this beloved icon of feminism in the comic industry, and I urge those same people to read Secret Six because their opinion will change. The one WOC, Chesire, is demonized into one of the worst racist caricatures I have ever had the displeasure of reading, which of course means that she has the dubious honor of playing the part of the Dragon Lady and the Asian Baby Mama trope. Jade is a completely different character in this, and the text is all but too happy to ignore her prior history in favor of making her as immoral and sexualized as possible. Everything has to relate to sex. The dialogue is clunky and unrealistic. And like, this comic has been upheld for its queer representation before, but having queer characters doesn’t mean that it is any way good, and it certainly doesn’t mean that it should be excused for the blatant mess that it actually is. I hate it so much.

10. Green Arrow (2011)
THE WORST COMIC I'VE EVER FUCKING READ. MY GOD. You might be thinking to yourself right now, “oh, how bad can it really be?” and the answer to that question is BAD. Here are some plot points: Ollie fucks a group of triplets in the wilderness while being chased by bears (idk but i’m not rereading this goddamn thing to give you the exact details) while everyone around him rightfully assumes he’s died in a ditch, Ollie finds out he’s the rightful heir to a magical arrow cult and gets tortured by his father for it (???), and Shado, a woman who in previous canon was involved with Ollie, now has a daughter with his father. Like. It’s bad!!! Nothing about it is salvageable!!! Nothing about it is a Green Arrow comic!!! Don’t fucking read this!!!
in conclusion: i hate all of these please please please take my advice and never touch them. do this for yourself and not for me. also if you are a fan of any of these comics sorry that i despise your beloveds or whatever please make your hate post about me on your own blog and not on mine thx 😭🙏🙏

Okay but I do think WFC did Megatron well
Not in the sense hes like an enjoyable character because like almost everyone in that show is boring and uncompelling (except like Skyfire and even then hes EH)
But I think hes good because you get to actually see the “Person fighting for equality who slowly looses his way” that so many continuity's go for
Hes reluctant to send the code that will destroy the Trion thing in Bee (I’m gonna be honest I don’t remember the specifics that well its been a while) hes reluctant to use the All Spark against the autobots, he doesn’t want to shut down the factory in the second book
He is being manipulated by Shockwave who does not have emotions
He cannot feel empathy and he only looks at things in the view of science and logic or in the interest of his side of the war
So having a story where Megatron is being influenced by an outside force to do the atrocious things and slowly losing the NEED for the outside force (that we get to actually see influencing him) as the war goes on is interest and can be genuine grounds for a redemption of some sort or at the very least an actual explanation as to why he acts that way
It doesn’t excuse his actions but it explains why he does them
We don’t really get that in other stuff
In IDW hes the victim of police brutality
Okay
But that just means that by being an abusive shit during the war he is perpetuating the cycle of abuse of power that he is so admittedly insisting that he is trying to break
He is not
There is no reason why he should act abusive in other continuity's other then him being a spiteful ass
In Prime he was always shown to be violent the fact he becomes and abusive fucker during the war shows that he was always capable of doing it
The fact he gets mad that Orions speech grants him the favor of the council shows that he does not care about changing things unless he is the one in charge after those changes
Ratchet literally narrates that scene by saying that he starts to reveal his true colors
He reveals that he wants to do things by force regardless
Because he doesn’t see it as one of them having an opportunity to change things
He sees it as Orion surpassing him and gets mad instead of wanting to use Orion as someone to help him accomplish his supposed goals of equality
At least in WFC he has an excuse as to why he acts that way as we see him getting pressured and gaslite into acting the way he does
He has no excuse in other continuity's
Megatron in other continuity’s have always been abusive assholes
It is not a byproduct of the war
The war just allows them to be abusive on a bigger scale

i think i fucked up
so, i’ll keep this simple since i need to go to bed cause it’s like 4:30am and i get up at 8 lmao.
since the cruise my dad and step-mom decided to physically split as well. my dad is signing for a divorced in the next couple of days. my step-mom is in a completely different state rn with her youngest daughter and mother. my mom mom doesn’t know about the divorced and honestly i think no one’s told her since we don’t wanna hear it.
so um, i haven’t really gotten a chance to talk to anyone about this stuff since i live in a small town and everyone knows everyone yknow? so firstly, thank you for letting me vent. it’s nice to talk to someone the same age anonymously. you give good advice.
anyway, all of this has kinda been building up on me, which is super weird cause i thought i wouldn’t care. i’m a senior in high school rn so it’s not like i can’t go visit her once i graduate. and my dad and step mom are both encouraging me to keep up a relationship with her. she wasn’t really around much and when she was it was only ever good one on one since with my dad it would be borderline abusive. (or maybe actually abusive, i’m not really sure i know how to identify it. it just seems normal to me)
my dad also asked me if i had contacted my step mom like a couple days after she left. i’d been wanting to but i had no idea what to say to her. so i didn’t. he said to me, and i don’t think i’ll ever forget this, “oh. i thought you loved her.” in the most casual tone. my heart is broken. i got really upset with him and he literally could not comprehend why. i’m starting to second guess myself if i loved her or not. i know for a fact that i did, but does she know it?
so yknow the new ios 16 update? weird change of pace i know but i swear it’s important. well i just decided like an hour ago to get it and i fucking hate it. fun fact, if you have spotify on and your phone turns off then they change YOUR LOCKSCREEN to match the spotify song. wtf. well i started off hating it cause i had to scroll through over 2,000 photos just to find the exact same ones i was currently using (it’s venti and xiao btw) and i started hyperventilating.
well i was doing my daydreams when i realized the spotify thing. and i completely stopped. i had a full blown panic attack for at least 45 minutes. i was hyperventilating so hard i honestly thought i was going to passed out. i later down so i at least wouldn’t fall and everything.
i think i panicked because of all the penh up emotions that i have going on rn.
after i finally calmed down, i went over to plug in my chrome book for school. and then i remembered i had an eyebrow razor in my backpack…
i think you know what i meant when i said i fucked up.
it was only four cuts. not deep enough to draw blood except for one, all tiny on my thigh where no one can see them. i can’t believe i did it though. and the worst part, the absolute worst part is, the relief i felt? it’s like i actually have control.
i know you said the ice cube method. i’ve actually told other freinds going through a hard time about it too. but at the moment, i just wasn’t thinking straight.
im scared im gonna do it again. any ideas on what i should do? lol

It's completely valid and I cannot fault you for relapsing it is a very normal part of healing. So long as you get back up, everything will be okay I promise.
But! I remembered an app that I had come across some years ago. I forgot the name and when I tried to look it up i found calm harm.
The app I thought of describes self harm as a wave. The want to harm yourself flows in and then out. It comes and goes. The trick is to distract yourself before the feeling takes over your actions. Calm Harm definitely helps with it from what I've seen. I've never tried these apps though. There are also counters that count how long you've gone without cutting if that kind of thing helps.
Would definitely recommend! As well as watching videos or creating a playlist full of videos/songs that make you happy! Find something that makes you happy and hold onto it for when you need it! I can completely understand not being in the right state of mind and forgetting it which is why you should have it on your phone so you can access it before you can access something else. It also helps if you're ever in public - or even in private - and need to calm down.
Gather resources to prepare for these down times. It'll help!
I understand that self harm can feel good, god trust me I know, but it's not worth it. There are other things that can make you feel better than self harm can. And I can't speak for you but after I self harm I just feel so much shame?? And fear?? Mostly because I don't want someone to find them but I just feel ashamed.
I can't explain it and I really don't have much room to talk because I'm still stuck in self harm. But if it means anything, I would be very proud to see you heal from this <3

Chuuya just snaps his attention to fucking Akutagawa like, "EXACTLY! YOU FUCKING KNOW THE SHIT, YOU FUCKING GET IT! ALL OF YOU GET OVER HERE SO I CAN KISS YOUR BEAUTIFUL FUCKING FACES RIGHT NOW OR I SWEAR TO GOD-" Imagine Tachi just starts downright crying like "My dreams have come true-"
They all got kisses that day. Best day of Tachi's fucking life. Chuuya was literally the first peak of his bi crisis, Tanizaki the second. And Tachihara's just huggin' him while Chuuya's given them all kisses and somehow this just turned into a whole 'kissin' the homies' session. Man had tears of joy I swear to god-

Alright time for actual headcanon's lol
A lot of these characters read as two-faced so I like to think about how they react differently to different people.
Susie I think puts on a nicer look when in public, got to make the Haltmann brand look good, but every once in awhile the mask slips and she says something a little suspect. She knows how to quickly change the subject and divert attention. Perhaps donate a large sum of money to a charity or take pictures holding puppies. Behind the scenes she still acts sweet and secretary like, that's just who she is, but it's her actions that are more sinister.
Magolor is similar, but he doesn't have nearly the power that Susie does. Magolor sucks up to people he wants to use to his benefit, but isn't nearly as nice to those he doesn't find useful. He does have a genuinely nice side when it comes to his friends, but old habits die hard because he's still prone to excessive lying.
Marx is similar to Magolor, but will drop the act if he just wants to have fun.
Daroach also puts on an act when in public, but he doesn’t consider it manipulation so much as part of his performance. To the public he is a cool and mysterious figure who can steal anything he desires while being oh so polite about it. But in private he's much more open and casual, still very flamboyant and dramatic regardless, but is very loyal to those he trusts. Contrast to how he acted as Kirby's enemy in Squeak Squad versus as Kirby's friend in Mass Attack. This applies to the rest of the Squeaks as well, in public it’s a professional relationship where Daroach is referred to as “boss”; Daroach fears that if it’s well known just how close the gang is then that will be used against them putting his family in danger. It’s only in private that they act like 3 rowdy brothers and their weird grunkle.
Then with DDD what you see is what you get. He is the most honest guy there is, he cannot comprehend putting on a whole ass new persona because he is as perfect as you get. It don't matter how old you are you are his equal, which is part of why kids love him so much. At the most he can be a low-key tsundere that insists he doesn't care that much for that likes of say, the Waddle Dees, but everyone sees otherwise.
Meta Knight figuratively and literally puts on a mask both because of his insecurities and because he knows he wouldn't be taken seriously otherwise. If there was a MK before the mask he's long gone. MK's aloofness and distant behavior isn't an act, he is just aloof and distant. MK's personality has been driven by his need to hide his appearance, but like Daroach he understands that being the galaxy's greatest thief/warrior means you a reputation to uphold. He hides his love of sweets and tones down anything cute because he's trying to be cool, but a more open Meta Knight would still be an all around quiet guy. MK doesn’t act all that different between his appearances in public and when with his friends, he’s just more honest with his words really. People that can read others easily have trouble pinning down just what his deal is, and the answer is that it’s complicated.
Taranza isn’t incredibly social to begin with; he only really opens up to people he likes, but tries to be polite to everyone. Because of lack of social skills and growing up in a secluded area he can unintentionally insensitive, but apologizes immediately if that’s the case. Unless the person offended was someone he didn’t like to begin with then it’s a bonus.
All three mages were home schooled and also lack basic social skills. Flamberge has no filter and is very much like DDD in that she’s honest in her appearance. Francisca is like MK in that she’s closed off in general but is still an honest person. Zan tries to put up a barrier but is very bad at hiding how she really feels about people and if she thinks you’re a bitch she’ll call you a bitch.
All the kids also act honest because they are children who only really put on a face when they want to look well behaved in front of adults only to bully other children behind their backs (Chuchu).
People who know about Magolor’s true self tend to warn others to be weary of him, MK and DDD esp despise him. Bandee is more indifferent because Kirby for some reason still really likes Mags and Bandee trusts Kirby.
To most people MK is a cool warrior, to his friends he’s a goth dork. DDD and Kirby do not treat the galaxy’s greatest warrior with massive respect, and while MK finds this a tad undermining it’s also a refreshing change of pace. Daroach also sees him for who he is, but the two can relate to each other more. Both are infamous figures that even among people they are close too (Halberd crew and the rest of the Squeaks) they are still the leaders to their followers. But when it’s just the two of them they are not each other’s enemy or superiors, but each other’s equals.
While Fran and Zan are not nearly as quick to get out and touch grass, Flam loves to roll in the grass setting it ablaze while trying to make friends with anyone. Part of her lack of filter and odd choice in buddies is that growing up sheltered means you probably didn’t hear about the time the jester tried taking over the planet.

Comforting You
AOT x gn!reader
warning(s): kind of angsty! No specific stress/insecurities mentioned but the aot peeps are hurting with you a lil :(
a/n: I did my best to be sure to keep the actual talk of insecurities vague and focused more on how the aot characters would comfort you/discuss things with you when you’re feeling down on yourself or upset in general <3 I hope you like anon! Ty for requesting :) hope all y’all enjoy too!
characters: eren, armin, mikasa, connie, sasha, jean, reiner, bertholdt, historia
Eren
Literally cannot comprehend why or how you’d have a single negative thought about yourself. He might come off brash at first, eyebrows furrowed and a loud, “What? Why?” leaving his mouth. He doesn’t mean to sound so harsh, he just can’t wrap his head around the fact you don’t perceive yourself the way he does.
After a lot of questions and learning to take a breath and be patient, rather than overwhelm you with a bunch of questions, his immediate go to is to flood you with compliments unintentionally. It’s not so much “let me list my favorite things about you”, but more so “let me kiss you everywhere and tell you why I love you as a person so much”.
He doesn’t see a point in trying to convince you to change your mind in an hour, he’s stubborn himself. He sees it as something that will take time to fix, but in the meantime, he’ll remind you why you’re undeniably so perfect.
Armin
He’s usually the one to bring up how you’re feeling. He’s picked up on the telltale signs of you feeling upset or insecure. It most commonly starts with him giving you a lasting hug and whispering in your ear, “you okay, baby?” It never fails to make you clutch onto him a little tighter and shake your head.
He knows you aren’t, but he was waiting for you to tell him. He’ll pull you into his lap on the couch and let you take your time to tell him whats been on your mind. He never interrupts and only gives little hum’s and ha’s until you’re ready for him to speak. His hand rubs up and down your back in an attempt to get you to relax just a little.
He’ll always be there to hold you close and let you cry or talk it out whenever and however you need.
Mikasa
She’s listening very intently and intentionally. She picks up on all the little inflections in your voice, what little topics you can’t help but keep coming back to, and what makes you upset the most. She listens this way so she knows maybe how she could help now or in the future, and what is most important to your perception of your self worth. Her goal is to help you change your mindset with tender love, care, and time.
She’s a very empathetic lover as well. It’s not uncommon for her to tear up and cry with you. Whenever she feels herself getting wrapped up in your emotions she can’t help but reach her arms out and call your name softly, inviting you into her embrace.
She’s promised herself she’s gonna try her damndest to help you ease any burden in any way she can. She just really loves you.
Connie
Another very empathetic and emotionally connected partner! He is always feeding off peoples energy and is used to bouncing off each other, so when you’re feeling down in the dumps even the slightest he can tell. Not only does he get emotional just feeling your hurt, but it’s seeing you hurt that makes him emotional. Seeing you hesitantly tell him how you’ve been struggling with loving yourself recently breaks his heart.
He’ll never push you to talk more than you’re able to. If you’re getting frustrated at your inability to phrase what you’re thinking in the right way, he’s reaching out gingerly to touch your arm and tell you it’s okay, you don’t owe him an explanation, he just wants to be there for you in any way he can.
He’s usually always looking for a way to brighten your mood and make you laugh within time, but he also knows how to read a room and knows when the right time for that is. He really just hates seeing you hurt.
Sasha
She’s actually a very quiet listener. The moment she notices you’re not feeling your best she’s gently taking your hands in hers and asking you what’s wrong. She’s gonna have you talk about it, she’s not the one to let you mull it over in silence. Even if she can’t offer you a solution she wants you to talk it over out loud with her.
She’s a big fan of giving you periodic hand kisses and rubbing her thumb over your hands. She needs to be touching you in someway for her to feel like she’s giving you proper comfort. If you’re comfortable, she’ll have you lay your head in her lap as he strokes your face and wipes any tears that might fall from your eyes. And of course, she’s always there to offer you a warm comfort meal after.
She’s all about comfort with her baby, so that’s what you’re gonna get.
Jean
He kind of freezes up at first when you give in and let him know what’s been on your mind. He’s all wide eyes and fish mouthed, stuttering as he tries to think of the right thing to say. This is what makes him realize he’s a physical comforter.
He can’t think of the right words to soothe you or make you feel better, but he knows he can hold you close and pepper your face with light kisses until you’re either giggling or truly believe he loves you for you. He always has an “open arms” policy and is the type to think hugs and cuddles are the best medicine.
Of course he’ll sit down and listen to any and everything you have to say, it’s just a natural instinct to coddle and love up on you when you’re sad.
Reiner
He feels a little bit like a fish out of water the first time you come to him for some comfort. What does he do? What should he say? How should he hold you? Should he hold you?
It takes him a while to calm down and just think to himself, what would he need if he was feeling the way you were? He’s no stranger to self deprecating thoughts and feelings, and even if it’s maybe not the best thought process all the time, it’s a good place for him to start.
So he does what he would want if he was in your shoes. He picks you up and carry’s you to your shared bedroom where he snuggles with you under the covers and coo’s “it’s okay baby”’s in your ear as you sniffle. It might not be perfect, but he’s learning and is going to do his best for you.
Bertholdt
Another quiet listener here. He’s not as physically affectionate naturally though when it comes to you being upset. He never wants to overwhelm you or make you feel suffocated or uncomfortable, he always lets you let him know when you’re ready to be touched.
The last thing he wants to do is give you an anxiety attack or anything of the sort. But he’s always willing to do whatever you need from him to make you feel better or soothe you. You need space? You got it, he’s going to another room until you text him you’re ready for him to come back. That or he’ll sit on his phone in the same room with you if you want company but aren’t ready to speak, just give him a tap on the shoulder and he’s giving you that big smile and warm inviting hug.
He’s very adaptable and just wants to listen and get it right for you the first time, every time.
Historia
She kind of accidentally comes with some theatrics. She also has a knack for accidentally getting you to cry and give in to talking to her about whatever’s on your mind. You say one bad thing about yourself or one negative thought you had and she’s, “oh no, baby? C’mere. How could you ever think that?”, into your arms and heart.
There’s a little bit of clingy mom energy coming from her, but she means it in the best ways. She never fails to think of some way to cheer you up, her only rule is that if you need to cry, you will cry it out.
“Crying is healthy for you”, she says as he smoothes down your hair and cups your cheeks. Her soft kisses are a plus, too.

SNS Dynamics - Sasuke's Perspective
Lengthy post ahead
On completing my rewatch of Naruto part I and part II, many things which never made sense started to make sense. One among them is the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke. I used to ask why Naruto is going so far for Sasuke. And why Sasuke is helping out Naruto even though he wants to kill him. And I used to think that Episode 478 was retconned to make the final battle ends in a draw and Sasuke somehow made to reconcile with the titular character. Yet, I instinctively felt, ‘Something is very different about them’. But on careful rewatch, all the clues which consolidate their relationship was there. The way they love each other is totally on a different level and the creator very carefully planned this from the beginning of the Manga.
Though I really don’t like the ending for making every characters into a child rearing machine at an age of 20 to make way for an abomination called ‘Boruto’, I still loved everything till Episode 479.
I wanted to discuss about both Naruto and Sasuke's perspective. But that cannot be accommodated in a single post. So, I decided to start with Sasuke. Since Naruto's side of SNS is very open and vocal, we clearly knew what is going on in his mind. But Sasuke's side is usually very subtle but much more intense than Naruto which makes it worth analyzing.
Before getting to that, for most of the characters in the Naruto universe (I mean 99%), Sasuke is a person who looks cool, aloof, rude, overbearing, blunt, genius and emotionless. And that’s the truth. Except for Itachi and Naruto. So when I say he is rude or arrogant, it is from the people’s POV. And since I always see myself in Itachi, I see Sasuke as that adorable innocent child who is very honest but forgiving.
I strongly feel that Sasuke has some innocent enchantment towards Naruto ever since he lost his family which later transcended into a bond which cannot be put under Friendship or Bromance. Enchantment, here I meant by, is not in a sexual way but more like the unconscious need to be in the presence of other person. Like walking beside each other eternally. Or even warming up next to a campfire near a chilly beach. You don’t want to fall into the fire but just enjoy the warmth. It maybe totally a platonic love like many claims to be. But his absolute disinterest in any other characters (even just as a friend) and the following traits he shows only to Naruto are clearly not just distinctive of platonic love either. It’s completely beyond platonic.
The following are the traits which Sasuke shows only towards Naruto, could have been avoided or delegated to other characters if the creator really wanted to assert their relationship as just friendship. There are lot of subtexts and emotions which I cannot accept it under the guise of bromance or friendship. It’s just not possible. If someone you like shows all these traits to another person, you should stop thinking about that person and move on.

Preferential Treatment
This is the very basic and first thing you show to someone whom you love. Meaning, I will treat this person much different from everyone else. When I was exploring this trait, I couldn’t stop laughing in many places. Because Sasuke is such a trolling machine who mercilessly trolls people who are in his way. He also inspire certain amount of fear which makes him even more unapproachable.
He has this cold bearing where people find it extremely difficult to manage or approach him. It comes off as very rude most of the times. One such example is Sai told Sasuke that he will get along better with him than Naruto. Sasuke put a Genjutsu on him for comparing himself with Naruto. LOL.
What's more funny is most people (Sakura, Orochimaru, Kabuto, Sai, Hinata) usually talk to him politely with honorifics like 'Sasuke-kun'. But he didn't give two shits about them and shitted them all mercilessly.
Here is the infamous proposal from Sakura in part 1.
Well she deserved this one to be honest. Throughout the entire conversation Sasuke never saw her face and responded very bluntly even though she was pouring her heart out crying. There was no visible distress or sadness from Sasuke’s side.
Whereas with Naruto, in the final Valley of The End, we saw him turning towards Naruto and answer him properly when Naruto asked the same question of what Sakura asked. There were so many emotions throughout the battle and Sasuke’s pain of leaving Naruto was clearly shown. Which explains the difference of where Sasuke keeps Naruto in his heart.
The following is the one from Chunin Exams prelims where Sakura is begging for him to quit with tears. The response is an usual 'Stay out of my business'.
Me: Sasuke!!!! Even I don't know how to approach you!!!! I understand you don't like to talk unnecessarily so you just shitted on Sai. But Sakura is your teammate, isn't it?
And then there is this little orange blonde who literally trolls Sasuke.
I really thot Sasuke was going to trash Naruto too, like he could have easily said, 'Naruto, you should also stay out of my business'.
But then
These words are something precious for Naruto. He wished for these words to come from Sasuke someday in his lifetime. But not at that time. And he was truly shocked and very excited. Believe me, when watching that scene, it was really great. But while making analysis like this, it’s absolutely hilarious.
This dynamics is similar to
Sakura: *cries unbearably* Sasuke-kun, I am worried about you. Don’t act so strong.
Sasuke: Shut up. Mind your own business.
Naruto: Bastard! She is worried about you.
Sasuke: Alright, I love you. Now shut up.
ROOOFFFFL :-D
I thought all these childhood bickers were over by part 1 and we will never see it in part 2.
Nope. I was wrong. Kakashi and Sakura were the scapegoats here.
Here's another round of applause from Naruto.
And I honestly cannot comprehend what was going on in Sasuke's mind and why he is really rude to Sakura and Kakashi. It seems he was really irritated by their presence or he maybe thinking they were useless or both.
When Naruto asks him something, he responds without any insults. What baffles me most is that during Infinite Tsukuyomi, Sasuke wanted to kill Naruto for his Revolution and awaiting his fated battle. And yet he answers him properly.
Can you see the pattern here?
He shits on people asking some question even with an utmost polite attitude but when Naruto asks the same question he was like "Alright Sweetie, Am gonna answer anything you want and say anything you like".
The following is the beginning of everything where Naruto can't even swear properly but still Sasuke couldn't even bother.
In short, the way he treats Naruto is quite different and hilarious when compared to the others. With his cold bearing, he absolutely has no need to put up with Naruto's outburst but he still accepts without a care every time. RIP to those souls who got the short end of the stick.
He must have an extreme tolerance towards Naruto's tirades to the point where he can never insult him back. And I also believe 100% that, nobody dares to make such frequent insults on Sasuke to his face except Naruto.
I know SK shippers jump in here to say Naruto is not the only one. But still the dynamics between Karin and Sasuke is simply a mirror image of Naruto and Sasuke, probably she reminded him of Naruto and hence made some exceptions for her because Sasuke never gives a damn about any other clan other than his own, but when Kabuto tells him Karin belongs to Uzumaki clan, he was shocked. I am pretty sure the only other Uzumaki member he knew is none other than Naruto.
Now, does this means he is in super love with Naruto? No.
But the way he treats every other characters and how he treats Naruto exclusively speaks volumes and this trope shouldn’t have existed in the first place. The creator should have made Sasuke treat both of his teammates equally which could’ve deflected the shipping angle.
Attentive
Am not talking about how attentively he analyzes his enemies in the battles. Of course, in that department, Sasuke flies high. This is about how attentive he is to Naruto to the point where he can deduce what Naruto thinks and how Naruto looks without the need to communicate with him.
I know Sasuke suspected Sakura was acting strange before Chunin Exams when she said 'Good Morning' with some hesitation. But the difference here is that Sasuke can identify Naruto without even talking to him.
Funny thing here is that Sasuke was sitting somewhere far behind from Naruto and yet he could pick up Naruto getting freaked out without seeing his face.
Who could forget about the famous ‘Where’s real Naruto?’ episode during Chunin Exams?. It would’ve been fine if this happened once. But the creator went ahead and made this thing happen twice under entirely different situations. And everytime Sasuke can find fake Naruto without fail. This scene conveys Sasuke is very observant towards Naruto’s appearance & fighting skills (the way he evades an attack).
Now, being attentive to someone is not a special thing which attributes to love. But considering Sasuke’s personality who is aloof and focused on his own world, knowing Naruto like the back of his hand is way too descriptive. Only someone who really understands the other person or constantly paying attention can find out such subtle changes. It doesn’t end here.
This is the battle between Gaara and Naruto. Where Naruto was literally confused about how to save his friends from Gaara who is much more powerful. And yet Sasuke can find Naruto’s mood just by seeing him.
Me: Yes, Sasuke!!! Gaara happened to pass by Naruto and forgot to kill him on a whim!!! So, Naruto is scared to the shit!!
Also Me: You guys always bicker with each other and are not best of friends. Sasuke!!! How could you analyze his mood just by looking at Naruto????
In Shippuden, There’s no inner monologue like the above, but whenever Naruto appears before him (Orochimaru’s hideout, Bridge, War arc), Sasuke gives his undivided attention to him. He even went so far as to advice him to pay attention to the battle. And I was like “Wait!!! you wanted to kill him... why pay attention to him at all? Geez”.
As much as you want to think that Sasuke doesn’t care about anyone, he does care about Naruto to the point where he doesn’t want him to be worried. How thoughtful just for a ‘teammate’.
How did Sasuke knew that Naruto would worry about him?, I wonder.
But all these things started from this
This boy has been noticing Naruto from way back when he was around 7 when he lost his family. Of course he would know every little things about Naruto because for some undefinable reason he couldn’t stop paying his attention to Naruto. A lineup of girls vying for his attention because of his cool appearance, whereas Sasuke simply loved Naruto without any reservations but because of his childish and warm personality which reminded him of his family.
‘I couldn’t stop paying attention to you’ and in some translations the words were ‘I couldn’t take my eyes off you’. Either way, these words are not for someone you see just as a friend let alone a brother.
Protectiveness
I can go on and on about how protective Sasuke is towards Naruto. I can write a separate post about it. This is the most important aspects of this ship which makes it sail higher than any other ships.
Of course, this is the Ninja world where people wants to protect each other and at the same time kill each other too. Sasuke protecting Naruto and Naruto protecting Sasuke is not too special. In fact, one of the weak and pathetic character like Sakura was saved once in every three episodes by Naruto or Kakashi or even by Sasuke sometimes.
And yet here I am mentioning protectiveness as the most important aspect of this ship. So what differentiates?
The way Sasuke protects Naruto is one of the intense thing I’ve ever seen. When I watch this series, I gained this immense ability to put myself in other characters mind just like Naruto. When I put myself in Sasuke’s mind whenever he tried to protect Naruto under different conditions, I simply cannot put their relationship under Friendship.
Here, Naruto is fighting Gaara in part 1 and Naruto was repelled by his own attack from the paper bomb. Sasuke being already battered by his curse mark bruise and he couldn’t move an inch. And yet he is shielding Naruto even though it is completely unnecessary because Naruto bumping into a tree log is completely normal. The creator even went under a lot of pain to draw that panel which took 40% of the page.
Now you may question, many characters even died protecting someone. What’s so special with just shielding?
Like Hinata jumping in for suicide before Pain, Iruka blocking Mizuki’s attack, Tsunade blocking Orochimaru, Neji dying as a ‘Love Cupid’ for hinata and Naruto.... I can cite many things here. What’s common among them all is that they were all perfectly capable of moving around and yet decided to save Naruto.
But that’s not the only point.
Is there any need for him to save Naruto? No.
Will Naruto die if he didn’t shield him? No.
Then why? He could have spent that energy trying to do something for Sakura rather than do a pointless shielding.
And then there is Kushina.
Naruto’s mom was already on the verge of dying as she had Kurama extracted from her body and Jinchuriki without a Tailed Beast will die. Because of Uzumaki clan’s strong life force, she could hold off for a bit longer. When kurama attacked Naruto, she shielded him with her body and saved her son from an imminent death.
Even though Sasuke didn’t die shielding him, but there is a semblance.
Both protected Naruto even when their body condition is worse. That is, Protect at all cost attitude.
I intended to put Land of the Waves arc here as it is very similar to what happens with Kushina. But that’s for an upcoming section.
Now, as a Mother her instinct to protect Naruto is very strong.
But who is Naruto for Sasuke? What makes his instinct so strong to protect someone who is not even related by his blood? Until and unless you love that person dearly you won’t do it.
That brings me to the next thing.
Yeah, it kind of looks ‘very friendly’ to give a 3 layered protection to someone who is already powered up like you and most importantly you want to kill him.(Can I say that looks really romantic?). Anyways my point is different.
What really happens here is this
It is a well established fact that Minato, the Yellow Flash is the fastest shinobi in Narutoverse. It wasn’t surpassed yet. He uses the Hiraishin No Jutsu to teleport at the speed of light. It was invented by none other than Tobirama Senju who is the fastest shinobi of his time.
We basically have two fastest shinobi in the battlefield here. And Minato being the fastest among them, definitely don’t want to blow up near his son for whom he died protecting him once. He wanted to teleport somewhere away and before he could do it, Tobirama teleported the bomb back to Obito.
What many fails to notice here is that all these things are happening in mere seconds. But Sasuke realized it real quick as usual and protects Naruto in an instant. How fast his instinct you may ask? Quicker than the two fastest shinobi on the battlefield and one among them is Naruto’s dad.
What I want to say is Sasuke’s protective instinct is quicker than Naruto’s father and similar to Naruto’s mother.
And you know, I questioned myself during the Chunin Exams arc “I think in the Zabuza arc, Naruto conveniently happened to be near Sasuke, So he protected him at the cost of his life. What if Sakura happens to be there? Would he have done the same? Maybe he would’ve died protecting her too.”
But all of my questions were thrown into drain by Sasuke as if he was able to read my mind. The answer is “Hell! I don’t care if she died. That’s her loss. I will not die for her sake.”
This is really confusing, hilarious and romantic at the same time.
Me: Sasuke!!! I understand why you want to save Jugo... Even though you abandoned him in the Land of Iron. LOL. What are you going to do with Naruto anyway when the whole world is blasted off?
He proved this again in the Kaguya’s Lava dimension too. Before you tell me that he saved Naruto because he needs him to seal off Kaguya, the previous scenario nullifies your argument.
And SS wankers shamelessly defending that Sasuke don’t want Sakura to die by Kaguya’s hands, that’s why he left her to die. Geez!!! Who the hell is Sakura to Kaguya anyway? Even if she were to die by Kaguya’s hands, it would almost look like how Obito died. It’s not bad at all. But falling into the lava pit, burning, screaming.... sssshhhh. Wake the f**k up!!!

These scenes are not just put there by chance.
Such a strong reflex to protect someone is only possible when you consider that person’s life more than yours.
Does any other ship has such things to show? I’ll wait.
Yeah Sasuke protected Sakura from Orochimaru and Gaara. But he also went so far to wait for Karin and awakened a new power to protect her. So does this means he love those girls?? No. He was just showing a team camaraderie. But it’s funny that later, he tried to kill those girls knowing full well they are unprepared to fight him. While with Naruto, it always comes with a warning. Try to understand this difference. Which is exactly why I didn’t put Sasuke saving Naruto during his Chakra training, or falling from the waterfall and many more. Because they are just a team camaraderie.
I don’t even have to compare with other ships, did Sasuke ever protected anyone like this in the whole series?. These are the things which could’ve been avoided or handled in a different way, like there was no need to emphasize on saving Naruto alone while ignoring others.
My body moved on its own
I don’t need to explain this any deeper. There are many people who says Sasuke is incapable of showing his true feelings. He is cold, rude, aloof and stoic so he always hides his feelings for everyone (mostly this line was used by Sakura wankers who wanted to portray that Sasuke always loved Sakura deeply but never shows). But they fail to understand the irony that one of the most beautiful line in this entire series was told by none other than ‘Sasuke Uchiha’, “My body moved on its own”.
Yet I find Sasuke shows his honest and heartful emotions before the people he loves. If he can show that to Itachi and Naruto, why not with Sakura?
I know those wankers try to say Sasuke repressed all his feelings until Chapter 698, so he has some romantic feelings for Sakura too. Bullshit!!!
Even though he repressed those feelings in his mind, his body always betrays him in the end and his feelings pours out from time to time. That is what this section explores about.
Man, this is the most painful GIF I have ever made.
In his battle with Itachi, he was completely consumed by the feeling of revenge and hatred for his brother. But when Itachi approached him in his final moments with an intention (seemingly) to snatch his eyes, he still couldn't push Itachi away though he could have. Sasuke just looked into his eyes and let him do whatever he was about to do.
Why?, Because he loved his brother so much once that he don't know what to do but simply embrace that moment. These are the moments your mind says to close your eyes or even run away (he totally could have) but his body will not allow him to.
This is what I meant by your body betrays yourself. Even in your darkest moments, you cannot fake. You always show your true emotions towards the person you love. The more you suppress, the more it will burst out.
Here Sasuke’s hatred is glaring through his eyes because Sakura is persuading him to not do something he wants to (as always). His only motivation is to kill that man. His resolve is a real deal.
But in a matter of minutes after giving that long hateful speech with some heavy determination, when he saw that hungry blonde boy who was tied up for trying to steal food, Sasuke just acted on his own and served him food even though he was told not to which could jeopardize his career.
This bipolar dance is something to notice throughout the series and is always interesting to explore. When Sakura tries to dissuade Sasuke from something, he always retorts to insults or an angry stare. But when Naruto accidentally stands in Sasuke’s way, he always involuntarily helps him out.
In short, towards Sakura he was like “Even you cannot take that path away from me” but when turning towards Naruto, he was like “Well, I can risk everything for you at the cost of my path”.
This seals the real deal for SNS ship.
At this point, for us viewers, Naruto is just an orphan who has no friends but always carries his life with a positive spirit hoping that someday he will be accepted by everyone.
Unbeknownst the fact that he already has one person who was willing to die for him and putting all his dreams into fire.
Important thing to notice, It’s entirely at Naruto’s fault for them being in this situation. If Naruto had used a bit of brain to attack from outside the mirror, they wouldn’t have been in this situation. But still Sasuke plunged into the trap without any regrets. That’s the beauty of this scene.
What’s more thrilling is that the creator told us Sasuke loved Naruto in the very next chapter itself.
How?
By making Haku jump before Zabuza knowing full well that he is going to die which is not very different from how Sasuke shielded Naruto.
And not only that, but by making Naruto say “He really loved you”. I got to say the creator may sucks at writing Sakura and Hinata for God only knows for whatever twisted reasons. But when it comes to male characters like Naruto, Sasuke, Itachi, Obito... he was just amazing and on another level.
How?
By indirectly drawing parallels between Sasuke and Haku in a matter of successive chapters.
By dropping indirect hints and crumbs like these to tell us, the audience, the motivations of the characters.
I always had the thought why did he risked his life for a boy who always fights with him? This became more emotional when we get to know the real reason for why Sasuke risked his life much later in chapter 698.
Having faced all the turbulent things in his life, somehow seeing Naruto doing all those childish stuffs made him feel relieved. That warmth was what he needed at that time. He wanted to escape from it but couldn’t. That’s why he embraced his warmth unknowingly in his Team 7 days by constantly reaching out to him starting from asking tips, concerned about having breakfast and training with him to climb the tree.
Sasuke even come to like Naruto more than himself and that’s why he was willing to die for him.
This feeling is definitely not a bromance or friendship. It’s an innocent enchantment you hope to last forever. Which again explains why he tolerated Naruto’s insults and hostility all those times. Because Sasuke knew those childish things were the ones he got attracted to him ever since his childhood. Rather than saying tolerated, I should use the term enjoyed. He really enjoyed those moments being bugged by Naruto for no reason.
Because just like Itachi said to Sasuke once, ‘If you are excellent you become alienated and arrogant even though you were sought after at the beginning’ . But Naruto pestering him means he is very curious about Sasuke which no one else tried. He was adored by those girls for his coolness and revered by those boys for his excellence but nobody really tried to befriend him. But Naruto tried to befriend him through Rivalry. That’s why Sasuke unconsciously started to like him. This also explains why he roasted Sakura for badmouthing him even though Naruto attacked him and tied him up earlier.
If Sasuke can show all these feelings even though he was trying to suppress it towards Naruto and Itachi, Why can’t he show a single normal feeling towards Sakura??? Because there isn’t one. Except for an old Team 7 camaraderie where he saw her as an acquaintance and nothing more.
Many NH shippers claims, but Hinata loved her ‘Naruto-Kun’. She jumped in front of Naruto to save him from Pain, when in reality she just acted selfishly and couldn’t pull out the Chakra rods. Meaning she failed whatever she was about to do.
Another interesting thing to cite for NH shippers, they claim for Naruto, Hinata is the most important person his life. Since when? With that shitty movie called ‘The Last’ with shitty retconned stuff? In all the 699 chapters he always claimed Iruka Sensei and Sasuke were the important people in his life. And you know what? For Hinata to like Naruto, he has to jump in to save her from the bullies. But for Sasuke he just saved Naruto without any validation. He saw Naruto and liked his presence and just did it.
When you could accept that failed attempt as a love, why not accept Sasuke loves Naruto when in fact he succeeded in saving him and that too unconditionally?
This is one of the tropes which should have been avoided if the creator wanted Sasuke and Naruto to be just friends.
One and Only
This is something very special that is offered to that one person in his life. That is Naruto. Even Itachi knew it. That is the Power to influence Sasuke’s heart. This is the fact even Sasuke himself knew it and that’s why he wanted to kill him.
Now don’t compare this with the manipulation shit which Orochimaru and Obito were doing. It’s not that. Many Sasuke fanatics always blame Naruto that he is also manipulating Sasuke just like everyone. That’s totally wrong.
Manipulation is something you do by talking about some twisted facts and make the other person to do what you want to.
Naruto never did that. Ever. Whenever Naruto and Sasuke meet, they always talk about themselves and how they feel. Not the world, not Team 7 or anything. Which is exactly why Sasuke himself willingly left that space in his heart for Naruto when he left him in the Valley of the End which he badly wanted to destroy. Sasuke, of all people, know Naruto is also very honest.
Sasuke lost all his rationality when he went into darkness by stabbing Karin who was helping him in his battle with Danzo. She even replenished his chakra many times. He not only just stabbed her, after when he found her still alive, he decided to finish her off with his Chidori.
And then the pink haired bitch appears before him and started to concoct lies with malicious intent to kill him. This provoked Sasuke more and more to reach this point.
Believe me, when you are lost in darkness, all you need is a small light which can show you a path. Someone who can extend helping hands to lift you up with honesty.
Sakura, being a crass woman, riled up Sasuke further with full of nonsense.
If you want to picture the darkness,
This is exactly how Sasuke feels. He is in so much pain and don’t know how to face it or deal with it. So he started to destroy everything he sees. For him Karin, Sakura, Kakashi are all just some pebbles in his way and want to trample them as he goes. His entire life has become farce after knowing his beloved brother’s real pain and miseries. Now he has no one left from his family.
Until Naruto appears.
He may not be his family, but he is the only person left for him in this world. Which is established in many Naruto endings and even Sasuke himself accepts this with Sage of Six Paths.
But my Cherry Blossom queen really loved Sasuke, she only wanted the good of him. My question is ‘Then why the fuck she tried to kill him? She looked at Sasuke and find that he changed. She didn’t even bothered to find out what’s going on from his side.’ Then how is this considered as wanting only good for him?
Surprisingly Sasuke calmed down a bit, the moment Naruto appears and even started to respond to him which he didn’t before with Kakashi and Sakura. Deep down Sasuke himself knew in his heart that the path he is going through is Self-destructive. Just like Kurama tells Naruto ‘Destroy everything you see’ in the Pain arc when he sprouted upto Eighth Tail, Sasuke’s traumatic mind tells him to ‘Destroy Konoha’.
All he needed was someone to extend an helping hand to tell him what to do without any malice. Naruto did that. Just like what Minato did for Naruto in Pain arc.
After clashing Rasengan with Chidori ,they meet inside the White bubble space and Naruto talks to Sasuke which evoked all his past memories which he never wanted to awaken.
That’s why Sasuke was visibly shaken with Naruto’s words. Because those were the words which mirrors exactly how Sasuke feels too. He was surprised and shocked that Naruto also felt the same way without him ever openly confessing those feelings.
When everyone tried to kill him for his monstrosity, Naruto is the only person standing there seeing him as his friend. Just like how Iruka saw Naruto way back in 1st chapter.
Believe me, even at the depth of darkness, when you see the person you love so much, you will stop and rationalize.
That is exactly why Itachi left Sasuke in Naruto’s hands. He even admitted to Sasuke that his words will not reach him no matter what.
Sasuke may not have abandoned his ambitions at that point. But Naruto gave him a clear path. That is ‘Show all your hatred on me’ and then do whatever you want.
I know SS shippers will claim that back hug from Sakura changed his murderous behaviour during the Chunin Exams. Yes. That’s true. But right after that, when Sasuke was fighting Yoroi in a one-on-one combat, his Cursed Seal flares up again. He retracted that seal out of his sheer will and thought about both Sakura and Naruto who was freaking out without even knowing about the seal. So, it’s not only a Sakura exclusive moment. The creator even went ahead and drawn a panel asking Sakura to not say anything about the Curse Mark to Naruto. Why do that?
As far as I understand, Sasuke saw Naruto and felt the warmth of his family. He singled that out in chapter 698. When Naruto was placed in the same team as him, he started to extend his good side to his other team members as well. But the moment he decided to leave the village, he severed the ties with Sakura (was there ever one apart from considering her as a teammate?) by saying Thank You. Meaning, you helped me many times so thanks for all of that. What’s more pitiful is, he didn’t even look at her face for the entire conversation except for saying ‘You are really annoying’. There is nowhere in the manga where Sasuke singled out Sakura for making him feel anything and did something for her exclusively. It’s all in the context of Team 7.
If Sakura is the most important person in Sasuke’s life, he should have stopped the rampage the moment he saw her but instead he got riled up more and more. Which explains where Sasuke kept her in his heart. Literally nowhere. He threw her into the trash. LOL.
If Hulk can calm down after seeing Betty Ross and you call that love, why not accept Sasuke loves Naruto??
Powerful Eyes
You know, Even in real life, Our eyes always reflects our true feelings, just like how your body betrays your mind , your eyes even betray your body.
Just like how Itachi could never fake his evil brother act in his final moments.
Just like how Sasuke couldn’t turn away from Itachi when he was approaching him to seemingly snatch his eyes.
Uchiha boys being a romantic bunch, always expose their awakening/ reawakening/ evolving their Sharingan in a most distressed situation. Just like Madara and Sasuke exposed their brimming eyes for Hashirama and Naruto. But in this department, Madara is wildly romantic as always. LOL. Despite losing 3 brothers, he awakened his Sharingan only when he was breaking up with his ‘friend’. And Sasuke, he reawakened / evolved Sharingan when trying to save / breaking up with his ‘friend’. Such a Biological defect!!!!
Poor Sakura pathetically fails in this department.
Anyways this part is not about Sharingan anyway. It’s about how such a powerful eyes becomes powerless before those Blue Eyes.
Eye Symbolism is something I really enjoy exploring in this ship.
Like I mentioned earlier, Sasuke has never shown his emotions atleast starting from Part II. He usually never shows any positive emotions like happiness, laughing, pouting, love, excitement (although he has shown all these towards Itachi and Naruto) and is known for negative emotions like anger, annoyance, hatred.
Look at how Sasuke is glaring with hatred for her insensitive words. She deserved this to be honest.
Now, is there any need to show your fury towards Kabuto?
Since the beginning of the Shippuden, some facts have been established strongly:
1. Sasuke has changed by leaps and bounds in terms of his attitude and hatred.
2. Sharingan is pretty dangerous. Many characters including kurama acknowledges it. Sasuke is very adept at using his Sharingan.
Orochimaru maybe right. But he doesn’t know the weakness. LOL
His hatred has reached to a point where he couldn’t think anything rationally and started to kill everyone, just like how Naruto kicked Sakura in his 4 Tailed Kyuubi Mode engulfed with the hatred of Kurama. Meaning, to reach his goal, Sasuke will kill anyone in his path without any hesitation. This shot is the representation of this.
And yet when he saw those particular Blue eyes, he stops his rampage immediately and visibly shocked even. That’s the look of ‘why is that blue eyes here?’
You have every right to accuse me that I am over exaggerating this scene. I am not. Even I wanted to think that way too that I am deluding myself. The creator has only consolidated my view pretty strongly.
There’s no need to emphasize on eyes at all. The anime team has went under so much pain to animate this scene in a satisfying and compelling way.
What’s more? The creator even went under further extent to draw a whole page in the manga focusing on their eye contact after the Rasengan vs Chidori clash. Meaning, Sasuke has calmed down visibly and became very easy to reason with.
Trust me, even in your darker / vulnerable moments, your eyes will reflect your true feelings to the person you love. You cannot be stubborn.
Now did it stop here?? Nope, it happened again in the Final Valley of the End battle too.
Sasuke is usually confident of his Sharingan (rightfully so) and likes to flaunt his eyes just like Madara. He was very sure that he was going to win.
While Sasuke had a clear resolve to kill Naruto when he was showing his back, but the moment he comes close with those Blue Eyes, his heart even pounded strongly (in the anime), and lost the resolve completely which made his Sharingan retract itself unconsciously. Meaning, his eyes betrayed him.
It’s funny that not even a minute ago he was very proud of his Visual Prowess as an Uchiha and his victory is inevitable but the moment he saw those Blue eyes, he just lost. You think I am again exaggerating?. Nope!!!
Oh Dear!!! This doesn’t get more romantic than this. An inescapable gaze from those blue eyes he loved all along.
Sasuke!! What happened to your proud Uchiha eyes?. You just stole Chakra from Naruto, isn’t it? Hints like these are really heartwarming, to be honest.
My entire point is, every character from every arc hypes up Sharingan starting from Zabuza, Haku, Rock Lee, Orochimaru, Kabuto, Kurama and many more, but why put a weakness for Naruto’s eyes?
What I really loved exploring is the way Sasuke totally expressed everything through his eyes in Episode 478.
Sasuke shows his vulnerability towards Naruto with just his eyes. These are not something you show to everyone. Even when Itachi departed finally after releasing Edo Tensei, Sasuke looked sad, shocked and pained but didn’t cry. He accepted the reality of it. The last time when we saw him crying, it was after knowing the truth of Itachi, facing towards the beach and was weeping unbearably because there was no one else for him in this world. But this time, he is next to the person whom he feels truly loved and he doesn’t mind showing it with his eyes.
Well, on multiple rewatches, the clues for their love was already dropped in the 1st Valley of the End fight itself. Sasuke already lost his resolve to kill by balling his chidori fist rather than ramming through his chest. So the feelings inside the bubble are their honest emotions like always.
The pain on the verge of their separation inside the white bubble is clearly evident from their eyes even in their monstrous form. Even in the manga it was mentioned that ‘I can’t turn my back Vs I am not letting you go’
But what they really wanted to be from their childhood was this.
Look at Sasuke, how entranced he was on looking at that innocent boy. Now put yourself at Sasuke’s mind. Will you ever look at your friend like that??? Now, they are probably just 7 here, am not romanticizing. But Sasuke looks enthralled innocently.
But somehow, their paths separated them for who knows how long. But the pain in both their eyes is unbearable. Even the databook, mentioned that separating from Naruto is like ripping half of his body. Well, this proves it.
Now, if they really wanted to portray this as friendship, they never should have given Eye symbolism at all. They should have gone with ‘I was always jealous of you’ thing, like they portrayed in that filler episode 450.I would’ve gladly accepted it as friendship. Because that’s how friends behave when they are jealous and I wasn’t feeling any romance at all. There’s no need of that lengthy monologue on how he was always looking at Naruto and felt pain.
I am telling you, I won’t be looking at my friend like this.
Unconscious closeness
Remember, I’ve written in the beginning of the post that Sasuke enjoys the warmth from Naruto. Meaning, he likes that person’s presence unconsciously and want to be near him. Sasuke proved this many times.
This is the most intense and confusing section I have to dissect for this post. But it’s the most entertaining nonetheless, atleast for me.
Starting from the Land of the Waves arc, here Sasuke is speed walking to match up with Naruto.
Initially I thought, he is trying to be competitive. But instead of walking ahead of Naruto to show who is faster, he just walks beside him. I find this really hilarious and adorable. This just shows Sasuke likes Naruto’s presence so much so that he wants to walk beside him.
Now many SS shippers tries to make this scene for themselves, when it is clearly not.
If you notice Sasuke in the Bell Training, he compares his strength difference with Kakashi and determines to get stronger. Same with Might Guy, he compares Might Guy’s speed with his own Sensei. Meaning, he respects people with strength. Naturally, he should’ve asked her and Sakura would have given him tips wholeheartedly. Because she really succeeded in that training.
Why bother to ask a deadlast?
The only reason I could find is that he wants to befriend him in his own stubborn way. But Poor Soul!!! He didn’t get the tips anyway. LOL. But despite getting the short end of the stick, he never hold it against him. Just like he never held anything against Naruto when he tied him up in Episode 3. All he did was just flaunt how he escaped.
Pretty cool for a 12 year old kid. Because If I were Sasuke, I would hold it for sure.
Once again Sasuke proves how he can care Naruto in his own adorable way.
He could’ve said ‘I am going to train too” if he really intended to train. There is no need to say ‘Going for a Walk’ and ask Naruto about breakfast. This explains that Sasuke simply missed the boy’s prolonged absence and reached out to him in his own cute way.
Now all these doesn’t mean he was in love with him. It’s just a childish attraction which makes him act like that involuntarily.

Now Shikamaru falling on Naruto in an unconventional way doesn’t look anywhere romantic. Instead it’s the opposite. They are pretty friendly here.
But Sasuke’s approach to Naruto does looks undeniably sensual and I couldn’t deny the sexual tension that brings with it. (Even when I watched it for the first time having no idea of shipping anyone, I lowkey got creeped and thought, ‘Sasuke!! What have you become? ’)
This scene is something even I can’t dissect. Because honestly I don’t know. Sasuke is a person who never appreciates physical touches nor does he initiates either.
I get this crazy femme fatale vibe when seeing Sasuke with his sexy costume landing at a speed of lightning with his hands wrapped around Naruto and taunting near his ear about what was he doing there? The only reason I could think of is that maybe he missed him for 3 years which made him go unconsciously so close near Naruto. It’s also funny that he could’ve shoved his sword into Naruto’s heart before landing and no one could’ve batted an eyelid.
Damn you, Kishimoto!!! Is this scene absolutely necessary??? What are you trying to convey? Why do you give Sasuke, a sexualized aura?? I understand you love this character so much and you want this character to be desirable among women. Yeah, you succeeded by making Karin behave like a woman in heat, the moment they met. But instead of letting her get close to him, you made Sasuke to say ‘You... Don’t get so close’ whereas with Naruto, you made Sasuke to go willingly touch him in a half hugging stance. Geez!!!
Here comes the most interesting part in this section.
It may seem irrelevant at the beginning but trust me, it will make sense later.
Before that, I would like to appreciate the creator and especially the anime team to bring the battle sequence so lively and different in its own way. If you notice the purpose of every battle that happened in Naruto series, each carries it own meaning and deliberately distinguished. How you ask?
The fight between Deidara vs Sasuke.
Logically Deidara should be dead in the Gaara retrieval arc itself. There is no point for him to chase Sasuke who killed Orochimaru to whom Deidara had nothing to do with. It didn’t impact the story in any way. But the purpose of that battle is to show how far Sasuke has grown up in those 3 years. The way he can use his Sharingan to analyze his enemies abilities and weakness so quickly and take multiple steps ahead, the way he can use Genjutsu and other incredible jutsus in his arsenal were a visual treat.
Now, let’s analyze Sasuke’s arsenal of Jutsus. He can do Teleportation Jutsu, a decent Genjutsu, Chidori Senbon (needles), Raikiri (Chidori sword which ranges to 5 metres), Chidori Nagash (Chidori from his whole body), Transformation Jutsu, Substitution Jutsu Shuriken Jutsu with wire works, Kirin, Gokakyu No jutsu, Sword fighting, basic Hand-to-Hand fighting (I’ve never seen him do it ever since the Chunin Exams with Orochimaru), Archery fighting, Susanoo, Amaterasu and all the Rinnegan abilities.
Based on the jutsus he learned so far and how he applies in every battle, it all confirms two things:
Sasuke is a Medium-Long Range Shinobi
Sasuke’s battles are usually based on his Cleverness
Let’s go for Naruto. He can do Teleportation Jutsu, Sexy Jutsu, Harem no jutsu, Rasengan, Rasen Shuriken, Oodama Rasengan, Biju Dama, Tailed Beast Mode, Kage Bunshin No jutsu, Sage mode jutsu, Frog Kumite, Better Hand-to-Hand combat skills (better than Sasuke), Transformation Jutsu, Substitution Jutsu and all his Six path abilities.
Compared to Sasuke, Naruto’s jutsu variety is very less. But for every 4 punches from Sasuke equals 1 powerful punch from Naruto. Analyzing all of them,
Naruto is a Close-Range Shinobi except for his Rasen Shuriken
Naruto’s battles are usually based on his Jutsu Timing and Unpredictability
Now, Let’s rewind back to 3 years and look at the 1st Valley of the End battle. That battle was cleverly choreographed which carried very intense emotional baggage. Things we never knew about those boys until then were openly admitted and acknowledged. That is, for Sasuke, Naruto became his closest friend. For Naruto, he always wanted to be Sasuke’s friend way back when he was 6 or 7. For both, they already have some unexplainable bond by just looking at each other and smiling secretly.
The theme of that battle started as Am going on my own path vs I can’t allow you to tread on that dangerous path and ended up with I want to break our bond vs I don’t want to.
Now, this posture represents, Naruto is the one who pursues Sasuke to stop him from whatever he was about to do. Meaning, Naruto is the one who is constantly reaching out and Sasuke as usual kicks him out violently, that is he is pushing him away. That’s the essence of the whole battle.
Considering all the battles in the Naruto universe, I categorize them as follows:
Best Calculated (and emotional) battle - Itachi vs Sasuke
Best Hand-to-Hand combat - Kakashi vs Obito (what a fight it was!!!)
Best Mega Powered Up battle - Hashirama vs Madara
Best Emotional battle - Naruto vs Sasuke (1st valley of the end)
Best Unpredictable/Entertaining battle - Naruto vs Pain
Despite having all the potential to fulfill the above categories, The Final Valley of the End Battle never bested in any of them.
As analyzed before, the boys have grown up to greater heights. I expected a battle between Cleverness of Sasuke Vs Unpredictability of Naruto
But what I observed was something so intense. That is Unintentional closeness.
This battle symbolizes one thing: I am going to kill you to get lonely vs I won’t let you kill me because you will be alone.
Being a long range fighter, I expected Sasuke to go for this.
If you have to kill someone you love, it is best to keep your distance. Sasuke knows this full well when he battled with Itachi. Except for some Sword fighting, he maintained a certain distance to fight Itachi throughout, until the very end.
But when fighting Naruto, all I got was this.
That’s when I finally understood that this posture means, the fight is very personal. Which means, Sasuke or Naruto won’t be fighting by sitting on top of each other with their enemies or anyone else. That’s just between them alone.
There was no analysis or cleverness from Sasuke’s side or any Unpredictability from Naruto. It was very bland and Sasuke looked clueless throughout the fight.
It started with some boxing style combat, including stealing hand seals and then some power punches. Very quickly it propels to Susanoo vs Tailed Beast mode. I expected some Hashirama vs Madara level power battle.
But all we saw there was this.
I mean, Come on!!! Man. Even the most Crazy and openly Romantic Uchiha, Madara himself never fought like this in Susanoo with Hashirama (Though Madara must be thinking ‘Damn Hashirama! I should’ve tried this with you’. LOL). Those mega battles carried variety of tactics.
Another thing I noticed was, Sasuke is the one who does lots of talking and constantly pursuing Naruto. Whereas Naruto is uncharacteristically quiet for the most part.
And finally it leads to this.
Sasuke was unconsciously getting closer and closer to Naruto which is the opposite of what he wants to do. Because of that very closeness, he couldn’t look at his eyes with his Sharingan and eventually got an uppercut. It’s like Sasuke was screaming, ‘Hate me’ and Naruto was like ‘Keep talking’.
Every jutsu he had for attacking from a long-range were forgotten. He didn’t even try to put Naruto under Genjutsu. I mean with his Rinnegan, he was capable of putting all the 9 Tailed Beasts into a powerful Genjutsu. Why didn’t he try that with Naruto? There was no Chidori Stream or Lightning Blade.
I can imagine Naruto doing close range fights with someone or even sitting on top of the enemy. Example, part I, Naruto head bumped Gaara. He was literally fighting with his Shadow Clones against a Monster so he had to get closer. Naruto monstrously punching Deidara not knowing the fact that it was a clay clone.
But Sasuke??? Can you imagine Sasuke sitting on top of the enemy and punching to pulp??? No way. Not a chance.!!!
In one way or other way, Sasuke was always in the close proximity with Naruto throughout the battle and touching each other which is totally uncharacteristic of him when compared to his other battles.
Every battle he ever fought was always at a distance which is the clear representation of his own character. He is calculative, analytical, precise and moves fluidly with a flair like a true Ninja unlike Naruto who is always reckless, noisy, powerful and clumsy.
Sasuke is someone who never lets his emotions get ahead in the battle, unlike Naruto. This is evident from the War when he was yelling at Naruto to stop worrying about Hokage as they were Edo Tensei who can regenerate. Even when fighting with Itachi, he calculated every move and attacked Itachi without any emotions except at the very end. Sasuke in this final battle forgot who he was and telling us viewers “Am just gonna get closer to Naruto and punch him hard”.
In short, Sasuke completely forgot all his battle tactics he had with Itachi and let his emotions get ahead of his cleverness and got himself closer to Naruto which eventually ended up weakening his resolve to kill him. This is what I meant by Unintentional Closeness.
Anyways, what I understood was, the creator didn’t put all this by without any meaning. It’s all very deliberate and drawn carefully.
Moving onto the final and the most defining moments of SNS.
When I watched this scene for the first time, I can’t comprehend the exact meaning. And I forgot about this later because of my excitement to know what happens next. But what I understood on my rewatch is that, the feelings exchanged here is very pure and innocent but distressing.
Sasuke already lost his resolve to kill by not ramming Naruto with Chidori instead balled up his fist. So he is not contemplating whether or not to kill Naruto.
Sasuke made every effort to leave Naruto and succeeded in it too. But somehow, accidentally, when faced with a person whom he considers so precious in such a close proximity, despite have a stinging pain in his arm, he is feeling the warmth he once felt. He just wants that warmth to prolong for some more time and he can’t able to evade it. So he totally gave in to that desire and feeling it unconsciously. Sasuke always watched Naruto (unbeknownst to him) and felt warmth, relief and weakness. This scene is the symbolic and innocent representation of all those feelings when he saw Naruto and he is exeriencing it for the final time.
Does this means, does Sasuke wants to kiss him? No.
But every symbolism of that being happening is there. It’s just all open to interpretations. The creator could show us how Sasuke fell on his knees and staring at Naruto intently but never intended to show when he got up and left. I don’t understand this twisted mind of the creator.
Added to that, Sasuke was about to say ‘Naruto, I....’ God only knows what he was about to say. But every possibility of Sasuke confessing and kissing is there.
I know the creator cannot approach this directly considering the situations he worked under. But is there any necessity for such an intense scene? Even the anime creators loved this scene and made their own version of making Naruto’s eyes wide open and even more closer.
I wont be watching my friend or sister like that.
That explains all the way back to this fated accidental scene.
There is nothing special about this scene. It’s all very clear that the kiss was accidental. It was really funny. But my point is why Sasuke never beat him to pulp or even push Naruto away like he did with Sakura and Karin? Why did he stood up for Naruto before Sakura? Why did he let go off Naruto even though he tied him up? Too many leeway for a single person in a single episode. And the most important part is, Sasuke thought it was intentional and remembers the taste. LOL.
Does this means he enjoyed the kiss? Not at all.
Most probably he was shocked to see Naruto in such a close proximity after seeing him from a distance for all those years. And he enjoys this as just another prank from Naruto in his own innocent way. But he won’t mind getting another one from Naruto either.
So, to conclude
I believe I made this post from an objective standpoint without making crazy theories and I don’t have to..... since canonical resources were plenty. Obviously my own bias will also be there which is unavoidable. But I tried to question the creative choices of why this scene even exist in the first place many times. Because those are the scenes which made the most impact inside me.
My first watch of Naruto gave me the benefit of doubt that ‘Are they in love? Nah... They are friends. Maybe I am just overthinking... but why does it feel different??’ and that too only after finishing episode 478. After rewatching it again and again, it only consolidated my view.
For Sasuke, his worldly ties are pretty thin and runny. He was always a loner from the beginning even when he had his family. He never bothered to make any friends nor did anyone tried to befriend him. He was pretty close to his family especially Itachi. When he lost everything, somehow he got attracted innocently to Naruto and started to like him. But beyond Naruto he never bothered to add anyone in his heart. He considered Kakashi and Sakura were like his acquaintances who helped him a lot and that’s all.
Then after using Orochimaru, he gathered some high skilled shinobi for killing Itachi. But he made it clear that there don’t need to be any understanding but just co-operation would be enough. But along his way, he just abandoned Jugo, Suigetsu somewhere. He openly said to Karin that she is nothing but a burden to him. When his hatred reached upto a maximum boiling point, he didn’t even hesitate to kill Karin, Kakashi or Sakura. But the moment Naruto appears he calmed down. The proof? He was shocked to see Naruto at first. Then Naruto calls, ‘Sasuke!!!’, to which Sasuke responds with, ‘What?’. Despite becoming a maniac, he could find it in his heart to listen to Naruto.
It took an Edo Tenseified Itachi to bring him some rationality to question his beliefs about destroying Konoha. When Jugo and Suigetsu appear again, he casually asked them, ‘What do you want with me at this point?’, I mean, Come On, Man. LOL. Even during the war arc, when things were about to blast off he only cared about Jugo (who helped him many times, so understandable) and Naruto (Geez!!! LOL).
Even after their final battle, the anime went so far as to create a scene where they were alone in a bright Konoha. But Sasuke looked very peaceful and listening to Naruto intently. When Naruto freaks out about Infinite Tsukuyomi, he casually laughs off and says ‘you still care about the world’. Meaning, he is happy there spending time alone with the person he loves. Doesn’t give a rat’s ass about missing anyone else. (How romantic!!!). Honestly, Sasuke wouldn’t mind if they were to stay that way forever. He would gladly listen to Naruto all day. But when Naruto disappears he freaks out and starting to make up his mind about joining his brother.
It’s very clear that the people he adores are Itachi and Naruto. Towards Itachi, it’s super understandable, because he is his own brother. But Naruto??? Why should the creator go so far as to make Sasuke adores Naruto even after breaking up with him?
And why make Sasuke possessive about Naruto’s life? When Obito was about to kill Naruto with that Black Orbs, Sasuke blocked him and said ‘You are not the One to sever the past, I am’. I understand the logic behind Sasuke’s possessiveness on Itachi’s life because he destroyed his family, childhood and even Itachi wants Sasuke to be the one to kill him. But why possessive on Naruto? He is not related to him by blood. Naruto never did anything wrong to Sasuke to warrant any hate either. You will become possessive on something only when you truly hate it or wholeheartedly love it. There is no middle ground. My point is why put Naruto here at all in the first place?? Believe me, If Sasuke never paid attention to Naruto in the War arc, I would be the first person to jump out of this ship.
Just to give you a basic example, Imagine you are living in a place far away from your family, friends and that loveable person. When Corona hits everywhere and forced Lockdown to travel outside the city, and the situation is getting worse day by day. Whom would you desperately reach out first? You would reach the person whom you are connected well in your family and that loved one. You will prioritize your friends only later. This is the Universal truth. Sasuke was seen showing that same instinct in the War arc towards Naruto whom he was not related by blood. And you all just want me to believe Sasuke sees him as just a friend?? Give me a break!!!
If all those traits I’ve mentioned above have been avoided to a greater extent, I would be happy to believe that they are friends. If not all, at the very least delegate some of the tropes to other people or share some of the tropes with other people along with Naruto. But dumping it all on Naruto alone makes me only curious and incredibly romantic too.
It’s no wonder, Naruto would go so far as to reach out Sasuke even at the expense of his life.
Oh, Did I forget about the cutest and most exclusive trope to SNS?
U-SU-RA-TON-KA-CHI, the most personal word which carries its own meaning and is only for Naruto. So funny that Sasuke has to spend a certain amount of energy to call Naruto using a 6 syllabic word rather than NA-RU-TO, a 3 syllabic word which is much easier.
Disclaimer: This post constituted everything from from Chapter 1 to 699 or Episode 1 to 135 (part 1) + Episode 1 to 479 (Shippuden) excluding fillers. Though Sasuke shinden novel was made into anime, I don’t want to consider that here. As much as I loved the prologue in that novel, I still don’t want to cite that here, as I consider everything after 699 is $$$$ making bullshit.
FUN FACT:
If you put yourself in any character in the Naruto Universe except for Naruto, and ask them, ‘What do you think about Sasuke?’. You know the answer from Sakura, she will say ‘Sasuke-Kun looks very cool and acts aloof, that’s why I love him’. Kakashi will say ‘My favorite student’. And all the other people will say somewhat similar, ‘He is an excellent Shinobi who belongs to the proud Uchiha clan and Naruto’s rival’
But Naruto will be the only person to say this.
“Lot of fun to be around” ....... LOLLLLL.
Me: No, Naruto!!! Clearly not. No one in your universe can have fun with him except you. Go and Ask Sai, Team Taka or your own Team 7. They adore him for being Cool and Talented. But Fun is not the word that equates with Sasuke unless there is no You, Naruto.
