People love love love logical thinking (haha yeah, right), so I thought it would be a good idea to start off this blog with some of the most racional supporting facts on Veganism.

Wait!

Were you leaving before I could even attempt to make my point? Rude.

“Why can’t vegans consume milk? It isn’t like cows are killed for it”

Well, let me explain it to you.

Cows are mammals (you can look that up anytime, won’t put any reference to it because that’s like basic biology). As any other mammals, cows produce milk after pregnancy. So, basically for us -humans- to get milk, cows must get pregnant and of course give birth. But human population could not, ever, sustent itself on the regular reproduction rhythm of cows, which leads to the key point: these animals are impregnated, constantly and harshly, in order to get the milk that WE insist on consuming. “So to keep the milk flowing, farmers artificially inseminate female cows about once a year” (Animal equality, 2019)

They have to experience the anxiousness, stress and hurt due the separation from its calves once they are born, meaning cows do not get the chance to feed and take care of their babies because apparently almond milk isn’t good enough for your cereal...

We do not need cow’s milk. What we needed was OUR mother’s milk (which most of us DID get after they gave birth to us). What we DO need now is calcium. And guess what? Calcium can be found in MANY other foods. Soy milk, almonds, chia seeds, broccoli, kale, sweet potatoes (Medical News Today, n. d) so we do have a CHOICE as in what we consume to get the nutrients that we need.

If the thought of consuming YOUR mother’s milk as an adult doesn’t appeal to you, then why choose to steal it away from an animal that actually needs it?

INFORM YOURSELF. Be aware of what you’re part of. (I left a very informative articule on this topic bellow)

CHANGE comes slow. Do your best. Decrease the amount of animal products to begin with. Do your research. But do something meaningful for yourself, the rest of the animals and the planet.

Proud to say this good boy came to me for protection. He was being attacked by a group of children, how unfortunate! Gladly I was able to talk to them and make them understand that what they were doing isn't right! They accompanied me to a nearby store and helped me feed my new canine friend to repay for the damage. ❤
