Anime Food Fight!

So we all know anime features some famously beautifully-rendered depictions of food, from Kiki's iconic fish pie to Yuuri Katsuki's coveted pork cutlet bowls. But which of all these fantastical foodstuffs looks the most delicious? There's only one way to find out: FOOD FIGHT!

Rules:

This probably goes without saying, but all submissions should be from anime!

When submitting food, please specify which anime it's from, and provide a link to a clip or screenshot I can use in the polls!

I don't have a set closing date for the submission form in mind as yet; instead, I will close it when a certain number of submissions has been reached. I will give three days' advanced warning before closing it.

As with most fiction-based polls, please don't submit anything where the creator is indisputably problematic and still in a position to profit off the anime. No Attack on Titan, Rurouni Kenshin, or anything else along those lines, please!

If there's anything you need me to tag for safety reasons, please don't hesitate to ask.

Please don't start any arguments over what does and doesn't count as anime. If I've included a show, that means it was made in Japan from a screenplay that was originally written in Japanese, even if it's an adaptation of a work that wasn't. I also won't be including shows that weren't made in Japan, like Avatar, because I don't want to open that can of worms; but any submissions I might get from those will be posted as honourable mentions instead of competing.

Be respectful to each other. The point of this tourney is to have fun gushing over our favourite drawings of food, so let's mind our table manners, folks!

The title of this bracket is a pun. Please don't actually throw any food at each other.

with every “kirby kills gods at any minor inconvenience” “kirby is a ruthless killer” “kirby is literally a god” “kirby is a complete unaware infant” joke, i write a word to my fic. that’s how i’ve been able to write so much

#so little people give kirby character it’s so waaaaugh #sure there’s not THAT much to go off of from the media we have of him alone but there’s plenty tk expand upon #he’s kind and cares a lot about his friends and would do anything to keep them safe #but he’s also impulsive and acts on instinct rather than stopping to talk #and he’s like that because he has a strong moral code. he doesn’t appreciate it when someone forcefully takes something #or when his home is in danger #and he helps strangers in need of help but it doesn’t make him naive because he will fight back if he’s been wronged #he’s smart and knowledgeable about tech. able to make a spaceship and hack robots do all these puzzles #even in the novels kirby has character. sure he mostly thinks about food but his friends are still prioritized above that #hell even in the anime there’s some stuff to kirby despite the fact he IS a baby #people just don’t really treat him like a character #he can feel other emotions other than happiness. he doesn’t always perpetually smile #can you see why kirby’s written the way he is in my fics?#of course he’s still a young silly goofball #but my writing is meant to reflect what else there is to kirby because there’s hardly stuff about it

When Sanji sacrifices himself he's aware of what he's doing. He knows exactly what is at stake and how much he's given and why his act is bad to others or himself, why it must be done either way. From what I see, it's a reflection of his self-esteem and his desire to put others first, it's guilt and it's self-punishment and he knows, okay?

When Zoro sacrifices himself he's insane, batshit crazy. He doesn't want to die per se, he doesn't hate himself and doesn't do it out of punishment. His dreams are bigger than his life, they are more valuable, so he's never afraid to put his life at risk when it comes to fulfilling what he thinks his duty is. You could say it's his honor or his code of life— Zoro can survive the deadliest wounds, the worst circumstances, 'cause he doesn't seek death, it's just that he won't avoid it either.

I love that contrast and how clear it is during the encounter of Zoro and Mihawk in Baratie.

#they both live to carry other people's dreams that are also their own #Zeff's dream of finding the All Blue and Kuina's dream of becoming the best swordwoman ever #They both fight with the techniques snd experience that were passed down to them by Zeff and Kuina #The difference is that Zeff cutting his leg and giving all the food to Sanji made Sanji feel eternally guilty and unworthy #he thinks he has to sacrifice himself for others so much #Zeff hates seeing how he drags himself down when other hadn't even asked that of him #Meanwhile Kuina's death drove Zoro to go all out never fearing his death #He could die trivially in some accident like Kuina did but the difference is that Kuina died reaching for her sword #Call it whatever you want but Zoro learned from her to don't let desth stop you it can catch you whenever anyway #Fear of death can be the thing that stops you from reaching your dreams so you need to teach yourself how to live plenty #Zoro's opinion on sacrifice is closer to Luffy's #The insanity of those two #It really hurts to see Sanji around them because of that #He's position is closer to Nami's in that sense #She who sacrificed everything for her village and her people #shan blogs about one piece!#one piece anime #roronoa zoro #black leg sanji

Imagine Atlas and Mitzi's wedding, you and Zib are attending of course, maybe you're even in it.

It's at the reception that the dread creeps in and you realize Mitzi's long gone from herself. She's hanging onto Atlas' arm, talking off the ear of some businessman and his wife, "making connections," she says.

You congratulate them on the marriage of course, she thanks you, but her response is out of the ordinary, it's like you're some random stranger to her, not her past lover.

You can tell Zib has fully realized your relationship with Mitzi is gone by the fact that he's been downing drink after drink after drink with no real end in sight.

You decide not to bother him.

Maybe you try to speak with Mitzi more, but to no avail, she keeps politely shooing you away and you can tell Atlas is getting irritated. You give up by that point.

Weddings have ends of course, at the end of the night you watch Mitzi and her husband ride off into the proverbial sunset.

It's when their car is officially out of sight that Zib breaks down into a drunken stupor. He sits down on the curb, curls up into a ball, and just *cries.*

You sit down next to him, holding him in your arms, maybe you cry too.

So you both hold each other well into the night, trying your best to accept the situation that-
