My ideas for a NPMD Pokémon AU:

Okay so I know I’m not the only one to do this (shoutout @brokecorviknight ) but I’ve had this idea kinda rattling around in my brain and had to write it down.

Pete would have a blipbug (it’s perfect, blipbug is like a Pokémon version of him). I rly like the idea that he doesn’t have any Pokémon (he’s just not rly that kinda guy, y’know?) until steph takes him out to catch his first Pokémon and they see a blipbug and she’s like ‘okay, you HAVE to catch that”.

Steph would have some kinda cool Pokémon. I’m settling on Scizor because I love drawing it and also I love the idea of them both having bug types <3

Ruth would have a Toedscool. It matches her mushroom sweater and also just kinda feels like a nerd Pokémon, y’know? Like it’s kind of a weird goober creature. I love toedscool (had one on my Violet team) so this is also just an excuse to draw more of it lol).

Ritchie I’m not actually totally set on, cause I wanted him to have a Pokémon that has kind of an ‘anime’ vibe but the only one I could really think of was lucario. Think about it, lucario has these aura attacks, it’s fighting type, and in smash bros it has that whole ‘gets stronger the more damage it takes’ which just oozes a shounen energy to me. Problem is, it feels too cool for Ritchie. Like, Ritchie’s Pokémon needs to be kinda toedscool tier in terms of coolness. Maybe it totally works in a ‘trying to hard’ kinda way, idk.

Okay so for Grace I’m gonna be totally transparent, this whole idea came up cause I saw fanart of what the characters teams would be and grace had 5 cute Mon and then a Yveltal. I love that concept, but I think Giratina works better cause it’s basically Pokémon Satan. She’d get Giratina post black book, before that her Pokémon would be Maushold, cause it’s cute, normal type, and it has this very family-values kinda energy (remember that bug that made it so it didn’t have an evolution animation and people memed the shit out of it cause like….what else does that imply if not sex??). Also the Pokédex says that the kids just sorta appear…which is hilarious and total feels like some shit grace would say.

Max has Gengar, it’s a kinda funny foreshadow/reference to him dying and I bet he uses his gengar to bully ppl/pull pranks.

The thing I'm drawing right now though isn't referenced from a scene. Why? Because uh I wanted to draw him without relying on the references entirely? Like as an experiment? I am still using references but what I mean is there's no direct ones if...if that makes sense.

Thinking about how different work Whistler is from Lucy’s Kate, and now I’m just thinking what if like an old DIA colleague saw Kate being a goof but it’s so different from the Whistler their accustomed to that they convince themselves that Whistler secretly has a twin

I love this.

Two reasons:

I have a feeling that FBI Whistler has a whole lot less on her shoulders. I'm under the impression that being an intelligence officer isn't exactly the kind of thing that involves a lot of team work. Kate coordinating a team made up of various agencies and leading it is different. FBI Whistler doesn't have to demand respect to command a room. She can be more open and I think that also led her to being more open with the NCIS team too. It's what had her making that first step and visiting Jane at home. She was able to since it was no longer a conflict of interest or a million other things. She wanted to be a friend and maybe get one in return. Her DIA colleagues probably wouldn't recognize her. Especially if she's wearing her hair down.

You've also reminded me that I do in fact have a fic idea started and partially fleshed out where Kate has a twin.... named Blake Crawford. You can thank @blkballoon for that one. I still plan to get to it!

5 Things That Make Me Happy:

Positive Feedback - has to be on the top of my list because this absolutely does breathe life into me. I started writing in the first place to make people happy. I do it because I love it and I want to share that love with others. I want to be the writer that makes people look forward to getting off work to read that new chapter or the reason they stayed up a little too late because they just had to know what happened next. I want my stories to be someone else's escape. And maybe one day, I'll be on their bookshelves, too. ♥

Genuine Friendships - they're so important to me. I'm someone who has very few friends and even fewer family, so if you're close to me, it means something. I'm all about chosen family, and it often reflects in my writing (one of my fav main characters has a tendency to adopt lonely misfits). With my friends, we're either just acquaintances or you're my goddamn sibling, there's really no in between, which is both a good and a bad quality trait.

Fucking Fallout - because it's the most immersive game I've ever played. I know a lot of the games get some hate throughout the fandom, but I genuinely love every installment that they come up with, because it continues the story. Even with all its flaws, I love all of 1, 2, 3, 4, NV, and 76. I'm more partial to 4 because I relate more to their characters, but NV had the superior storyline. ♥ I literally cannot get this game or these characters out of my head.

BTS - Okay hear me out on this one: I know BTS is a stereotypical K-Pop band, but I seriously love them as people. I don't like K-Pop normally, as a genre. I listened to "emo music" growing up (I was born in 1993 so the 2000s was where my favorite music really lied). I was also a troubled kid and I brought a lot of those insecurities and trauma to my adulthood, and my old bands just wasn't doing it anymore. The memories of teen angst mostly stressed me out. But then I found BTS, and their music and messages helped me SO MUCH as a young adult, well into later adulthood (I'm 29 now). I absolutely love them, and they make me happy with their genuine care and messages. Those 7 boys are some of my biggest inspirations in life, reminding me that I can do anything if I try hard enough. But you will NEVER catch me mixing my love for BTS with the Fallout stuff on this blog. I've noticed that liking K-Pop is a quick way to catch hate, so I keep my obsession with them to myself. I'm okay with that; I've done it for the last six years.

My Husband - as cheesy as it is to say, I have the best husband I could have asked for. STORY TIME: I met him in Kindergarten, and he was always getting me in trouble by making me laugh and the teacher kept telling us to be quiet. She had to separate us. I had a crush on him in 2nd grade. Then we didn't see each other again until middle school. We had gym class together in 6th grade. In 8th grade, we became best friends. He dated a friend of ours in 9th, and I thought that would help me get rid of the feelings I had for him because I was terrified I'd ruin our friendship if I made a move. It didn't work out between him and our friend, but he told me in 10th grade that he liked me a lot, and we really understood each other. (Honestly it "helped" that we both came from troubled/broken families and were both below poverty level.) When we got together, we were each other's first EVERYTHING. We were together all throughout high school with no complications, and our peers deemed us worthy of being prom king and queen in 12th grade even though we were the nerds who oftentimes got bullied. It was so surreal. We moved in together after high school. We went through a loooooot of bullshit. Being kicked out of houses, losing jobs, losing family members (deaths and otherwise) and we're pretty much inseparable now. We've been together for 14 years. He's supportive in everything I do, even if he doesn't always understand my obsessions. He believes in me. He knows I'm not going to thank him for doing the bare minimum (respecting me, listening to me, helping me, not expecting me to mother him, etc). He genuinely fucking loves me. And he's pretty damn handsome and funny, too. Icing on the cake. And after losing all the people that we have over the years, we're pretty much all that we've got left. But I wouldn't choose to live this life with anyone else.

Just Ves is not his daughter. But for his child Roche will be a good father.

Nah she's not, and I headcanon them (we all gotta headcanon it anyway, they're such a small part of canon-canon) as a complete jumble of different bonds that makes their own weird messed up little family-friendship-workingunit-brothersinarms-THING. But with a big slice of father-daughter in there.

Which is what I love about them and what I love about them in comparison to Ciri being unquestionably Geralt's daughter and they can say as much. Whereas to me Ves is at least something of a daughter figure to Roche, albeit also his friend, protegé, friend, brother-in-arms, etc, but they are too emotionally stunted and their lives too messed up to say things like that.

So they say to each other by saying things like 'the commander's in his usual sulk' or 'this is Ves and she's a piece of shit' and that's them two fuck-ups language for saying they care.

So I don't think Roche is being a bad parent figure to Ves for being brusque. He's just saying 'I love and am proud of you' in a language they both understand

Is he a bad parent for taking her chance of a normal and mostly-innocent life away? Yeah fuckin probably and that's why as fictional people I love them.

If Roche had his own kid i think he'd try to learn from mistakes with Ves and hindsight on his life pre-TW2 and give said kid the best chance of a happy life he could. He'd definitely try. He's a messed up guy with a lot of trauma and anger problems and he would stumble but he'd try. He really would.

And I love that with the idea of him helping raise Anaïs post-TW3 i would love to see him trying his best to be a wholesome dad.

Anyway I'm not sure this answer the question but in my own personal headcanon he is Ves' dad, but not in such a straight-cut way, and he would definitely try to be a good dad to future kids and I would be rooting for him but man it would be a rough road for him.

And he'd always use 'no you dumb fuck' as proxy for 'I Iove you'

4) Mob movies. I know they're the quintessenial filmbro type of movies and liked by some of the worst people around but I can't help it. I wrote off The Godfather and Goodfellas for YEARS until I was forced to watch The Godfather movies in college for a class and I think it rewired my brain. I watched Goodfellas more recently and had a similar experience. All my life I've been seeing references and rip offs but watching the originals was a totally different experience! The mob movie genre in general is so infamous and its directors pioneered a number of techniques that are used in so many other genres now (Goodfellas was apparently one of the first to use fourth wall breaks for plot exposition) that it's called cliche or bad writing, but the originals had this dynamism to them that I'm still struggling to describe. The closest I can come to it is that they're imbued with this feeling of experimentation that their descendants don't have; the directors who followed their example treated it like rules but the originals were all about breaking rules and finding new ways to tell a story. I'm pretty sure The Godfather pt. 2 is the only time where I've seen such an extended flashback that didn't make the movie worse.

I'm also kind of obsessed with how mob movies have faded into this category of "old movies", like when you think of them, you think of these groundbreaking and extraordinarily famous movies from the 20th century. The last time I heard about a mob movie in the modern day, it was marvel fans clowning on The Irishman bc Martin Scorsese "insulted" their military propaganda faves.

Additionally, when I started reading up on the production of these films, and how they were received in their time, it only deepened my appreciation for the genre. I was genuinely shocked at how many genre-spanning "cliches" or techniques originated from these crime movies. I know I focused on like...the two most famous ones for this answer but if I go on I'm gonna write a ten paragraph essay lmao.

9) full disclosure; I've never had like....a steadfast admiration of any actor. But here goes a shot at some people who I've liked in multiple films and whatever role left the greatest impression on me.

Ian McKellan: Legend, I know, but I think he'll always be my fav for his role in this obscure Sherlock Holmes movie called Mr Holmes about an elderly and regretful Sherlock as he suffers from dementia. I saw it one time when my parents absent mindedly rented it from the video store when I was teenager and it's haunted me ever since. Obviously, Ian McKellan is great in everything but that's what sticks to me.

Nicole Kidman: She's been getting a lot of love for The Northman (which was a good movie and she was good in it) but I'll always remember her for her role as Celeste in Little Big Lies (if you haven't seen it, go and see it now it's so great). It's one of the best portrayals of an abuse victim that I've ever seen and while the writing is great, it's her performance that sells the audience on Celeste being both human and a victim. She also plays really well off Meryl Streep's evil grandma character.

Bowen Yang/Vanessa Bayer: I'm grouping these two bc I've primarily seen them on SNL (guilty pleasure of mine) and they both deserve better as comedic performers. I know Vanessa has gotten some better opportunities in the last couple years but I'm looking forward to when Bowen leaves the show for bigger things bc he's fucking hilarious.

John Noble: he's just so intense. His role as Denethor was pitch perfect casting and he played it all out! I really don't think anyone else (besides maybe like Willem Dafoe) could have pulled off Denethor's unique insane worldview and fucked up relationship with his sons. Every time he's on screen, absolutely capivating (honorable mention his role on Fringe was similarly well done).

Keke Palmer: Criminally underrated, every project I've ever seen her in, she's knocked it out of the park. I'm so excited to see NOPE this summer and hope it propels her to more mainstream projects. Her favorite performance of mine was when she was on Scream Queens. Everyone loves to give Emma Roberts her flowers for that show, but Keke Palmer was acting circles around that other white girl who was the lead in season one and then became the main character for season two. Excellent performances in both seasons, and that show absolutely should have been renewed for a third.

47) ngl this gave me psychic damage bc i started thinking about fanfiction tropes lmao. I also don't really think about plot devices as tropes tbh.

But being real for a second, I'd have to say that my favorite trope is probably the fake relationship one. I've seen it done well and I've seen it done badly, but imo when it's good its really funny and it makes me laugh.

I suppose found family is also a trope and I do like it a lot, but I don't really think of it as a trope? like, for my money, any story with a bunch of unrelated characters going through the plot together is going to feel closer by the end of the story if the story is written well, yknow? a group of characters all going on a journey and then just like saying bye like it's the end of some mandatory group activity is weird to me and I probably won't like the story lmao. So found family is not so much a plot device as it is the natural conclusion to a lot of characters' development in relation to each other.

I'm new to this blog, what's dream lamb and dream narinder?? They're cool but I do not understand I wish to comprehend

Dream Lamb (And Dream Narinder) is exactly as the name implies; dream versions of the counterpart that only appears within Narinder's (Or Lambert's) dreams at night.

They are a visual manifestation of the subconscious, they are not real individuals. They can reflect what Narinder/Lamb's true feelings are about something/someone, or torment them about things that they perceive to be true.

One example is that Dream Lamb often makes Narinder remember how fondly he thinks of the Lamb ("You think of them so poetically" + all prior friendship he had with them in the gateway) or pointing out how his words contradict his actions; behaving and believing them to be a traitor and insufferable but doing things of his own will (resurrecting the crab, not killing their flock because it makes them upset, allowing Leshy to live, ect ect).

Dream Lamb ALSO points out the complicated feelings with his siblings; ie reminding him of how he used to help raise his youngers, and the mixture of emotions he feels towards individuals who he claims he despises.

Dream Narinder (Who is not into written form yet and is only in comic form as of this post) who instead of tormenting the dreamer with confrontation of feelings being denied, instead sews doubt and guilt. The Lamb feels even though they stayed true to themselves, they cannot help but feel like their perceived betrayal has damaged the friendship between them and Narinder beyond repair. Despite that grief for the loss of friendship, they'll accept what little companionship they can have from their best friend left over.

Dream Narinder fuels on this, often echoing their worst fears and worries ('You've done a good job as my vessel, so I no longer have a need for you.") So he acts non-nonchalant and often mocking/teasing, or even indulgent with the acknowledgment that none of it is real. Where as Dream Lamb confronts Narinder with feelings he's wanting to push back, Dream Narinder goes the opposite route, and calmly and casually reinforces what they believe to be the reality.

Dream Lamb represents Denial of the Truth, While Dream Narinder is the Acceptance of a Lie.

However,

Because they are corrupted visuals of the subconscious, but still their subconscious nonetheless, this means that these behaviors can change or be different depending on how the dreamer thinks/feels, and how they're processing their emotions in relation to something. Especially when they're confronting it.

In other words, the closer Narinder gets to accepting his feelings and understanding the Lamb's reasoning for their 'betrayal', and the closer the Lamb gets to realizing Narinder's care for them still persists, the more accurate and truer the dreams become.

Like in this comic, where Dream Narinder is tormenting the Lamb, but after their snap back that Narinder would not say something so cruel to them, despite his outward attitude, they are practically rewarded with a praise for it.

For Dream Narinder specifically, his eye remains closed....but opens a little more the closer and closer the Lamb gets to believing how Narinder truly feels about them, whether the real cat has accepted it or not.

As for Dream Lamb, they go from being very aggressive about their confrontation to something more docile, eventually as Narinder starts to process everything.

Another thing: the Dreams are linked. Not always, but they have to be on the same...wavelength for it. An understanding, perhaps. But they do affect each other, sometimes.

The dreams can be nice too, depending. That's why they're not always nightmarish. Meaning, with enough push and pull, eventually:

Why all of this dream and nightmare stuff is happening? Yet to be revealed.

Remember guys if you avoid your feelings in real life they might hunt you down in your dreams, and possibly bluetooth you to the object of your affections dreams as well if you're nice about it

The composition originally was going to be a lot different (had two in mind) where the Red King’s involvement would’ve been more prominent. Went with this one simply cuz it was just more fun to experiment, where the negative space is made front and centre focus :]

Whennnn picking out the plants ddint think for a second about symbolism- and going off of just ANY flower for flower language would have been too big of a selection pool… So in respects to SL environmental setting - native Australian plants it was.

-The golden wattle trees by its abundance and have benefited Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders for thousands of years to create various markers and tools. The plant survives harsh droughts, and its seeds have a coating strong enough that can be salvageable beyond bushfires.

-as a signifier of Spring and new beginnings hence rebirth, the golden wattle to me was also very thematically fitting for a season like Secret Life :]

-I never looked into what Illawarra flame trees (the flowers of the coat my SL!Bdubs design is wearing) before until today.. and I quote “Regains confidence and self-approval, able to make commitments with the strength of self-reliance. Clarity in life and ability to adapt to all situations. Secure enough to express and communicate true feelings. To be beautiful and strong ” [SOURCE: Australian Bushflowers] which…. Ok damn. There’s also alcohol in it.

-Eucalyptus trees in Indigenous Australian culture represent the division between the underworld, the Earth and heaven.

The selection of plants while don’t represent Bloodhounds together - but more of what Martyn and Bdubs are individually, they’re interesting in the things they have in common what they represent. And the differences they go about this loyalty throughout the seasons and why they devote - especially in LimL and SL.. Fascinating stuff.

So one thing I’ve noticed is that people’s DnD characters may vary but there is usually an underlying thread that they all have in common. This thread is typically related to what that person struggles with the most.

For instance, my betrotheds DnD characters: a bitchy warlock we had to bust out of two different pacts, a sassy barbarian, a reformed drow cultist, and a sunshine fighter cleric.

All these characters were wildly different but at their very core struggle was them grappling with their self worth. My betrothed struggles with their worth a great deal and even with different facets showing their characters all have that too.

Mine all tend to contend with different themes of loneliness and acceptance. Surprise, surprise, the little autistic gremlin yearns to have been met with more love and lasting friendships.

So we’re at breakfast. I am meeting a new friend of my betrotheds for the first time. It’s been twenty minutes since I’ve met this man. I say my theory. He laughs. He starts to describe a few of his characters but specifies that he often has healing aspects. He gives a very broad overview of their character arcs.

I ponder for a moment then said, “Would you like to have my assessment?”

He laughed, “Sure!”

“We’ve just met. It’s gonna get real.”

“Bring it on.”

“I think your struggle is that you feel you must offer something of value or service to people to be worthy of their love.”

His jaw dropped. His fork froze midway to his mouth. A potato fell. He stared into space as this sank in. Quietly he said, “Oh.”
