One of our motorcycles is a big scooter. The Suzuki has a low center of gravity and a huge storage area under the seat, things my Yamaha do not have. It doesn't require shifting gears. Gas mileage is about triple that of my truck. Parking it is much easier too. The scooter is ideal for running errands around town, though my wife rode it from Minneapolis to Fergus Falls and back (~190 miles each way) one week several summers ago.

Some people give me nice looks when I drive it places that don't usually see motorcycles. Last weekend our city had a recycling event where we could drop off electronics and chemicals, to keep them out of landfills. I brought in two dead laptops and an old cell phone. I had the only two-wheeled vehicle in the line of cars and trucks waiting to unload. I got smiles and thumbs-up from a few people. One woman mildly flirted with me. "Nice ride! Will you take a passenger?"

Today Sheila asked me to get some chorizo from a mercado one city over from us. The store's parking lot is tiny and usually crowded. This mission was more suited for the Suzuki instead of my F-150.

Two guys in the parking lot smiled when I parked next to their car. Maybe they were laughing at me? On my way home I got a cheeseburger at a Culver's drive thru. An employee bringing an order out to someone else detoured past me to say hello. Another employee who brought out my order nicely told me not to rush when I had to get off the scooter to open the seat storage.

It's fun to ride. There are only a few weeks left though before I have to winterize and park it before it gets too cold or snowy to ride.

just got back from voting ✨

#I am upset though because I went to a place listed as having veggie democracy sausages and they had NOTHING. not a trace of a sausage ever #being cooked there. not a thing. and by the time I got out all the other democracy sausage places had finished #anyway buying a snag is the Aussie version of an i voted sticker #this is very important to me and I am very sad.
