Sorry this took so long but here’s Chapter 2 to Older Sister. If you haven’t read Chapter 1, I highly recommend it before starting this.
*Takes place between ep10-11 but goes through ep11*
**I know ep11+12 are parts (Ryloth arc) but I decided to separate into 2 chapters to match the episodes**
Older Sister—Chapter 2
Hunter sighs as he watches Omega and her new friend, Maisy, hurry back to the Dejarik board and begin to talk with each other.
“Hunter,” the sarge hears his name and turns to see the rest of the squad looking at him. In all honesty, he really just told that to the girls to give him more time to think. He couldn’t very well reject the little girl, but at least he’s able to stall for time.
“Hunter, you know very well that we are not equipped to care for another child, let alone one so young-“ Tech argues realistically. Hunter nods.
“I know-I know, but I couldn’t just say no, I have to think-“ Hunter agrees.
“Why can’t we take her? Omega’s right, she needs help,” Wrecker asks, agreeing with her.
“Wrecker, Maisy’s a Jedi. Having a Jedi with us is basically like putting a target on our backs for the Empire-“ Echo tells the larger clone.
“She’s a Jedi? Are you sure? She doesn’t have those laser swords they all carry-“ Wrecker argues and Echo and Hunter nod.
“I’m sure. Her robes are Jedi robes,” Echo says and I nod.
“Remember Commander Dume? He wore robes like Maisy’s,” Hunter asks Wrecker, who clearly wants to argue, but doesn’t when he sees Hunter’s look.
“Yeah…I guess you two have a point. But Omega’s right—we have to help her-“ Wrecker insists. Hunter looks at the explosives expert with a questioning look.
“Why? Why are you so dead set on helping this girl we don’t even know?” Hunter asks.
“Really? We only knew Omega for what—a couple interactions? It was you that wanted to go back for her on Kamino,” Wrecker argues, causing Hunter to pause. Even if he won’t admit it, Wrecker has a point. Maybe…maybe that’s why Crosshair-
“Besides, look how happy Omega is,” Wrecker points out, snapping the sarge out of his thoughts. The boys all look and watch as Omega interacts with the young girl.
“Omega needs a female to hang around with,” Wrecker adds.
“I suppose you do have a point Wrecker,” Hunter admits, “but that doesn’t change the fact that Maisy is much younger than Omega. Omega’s in training and can handle herself-“
“Technically all Jedi start their training once accepted into the Temple,” Tech says, earning a look from Hunter.
“But having another mouth to feed will put even more of a strain on our tight budget with credits,” Tech adds as they continue watching Omega and Maisy.
Hunter sighs and glances to Echo.
“Well? What should I do?” Hunter asks. Echo blinks at the sarge.
“What? Why are you asking me?” Echo asks, clearly caught off guard.
“We didn’t normally work with Jedi. We usually just had to report to Cody,” Hunter tells Echo, “You’re the only one out of all of us that really has experience with the Jedi,” Hunter explains as memories of General Skywalker, General Bilaba and her padawan flash in his mind. To be honest, Hunter was more focused on the mission on Anaxes to really get to know Anakin and he and the Batch really only worked with General Bilaba one other time before Order 66 happened on Kaller.
“So? What are the Jedi really like?” Hunter asks. Echo pauses and thinks about it.
Most of Echo’s memories of General Skywalker and his padawan, Commander Tano, were of them arguing like siblings, goofing around together or being on missions together. General Kenobi liked to pretend he was the responsible one, but Echo remembers how ridiculous some of his and Commander Cody’s plans seemed as well. A brief memory of Master Shaak Ti also passes by in his mind. She had helped him and Fives when they were cadets in training with Domino Squad. Echo looks at the the two girls, who are talking with Cid.
“The Jedi are good, caring people. They put others before themselves,” Echo says.
“It would be good for Omega to have another female around. But her age is a bit of a problem. She’s what 3-4?” Echo asks.
“4 years, 6 months and 27 days to be exact,” Tech adds and Echo nods.
“She’d need more care than a girl like Omega,” Echo says, “and I’ve never worked with a Youngling before.”
“Perhaps we should contact local authorities and inform them of a child needing a home-“ Tech suggests.
“No Tech, if we make our presence known, they could contact the Empire,” Hunter says and the pilot/scientist nods.
“I don’t see any other option short of abandonment,” Tech says and the boys become uncomfortable at the word. There’s no way any of them would leave a small child that needed them.
“So…I guess it’s decided then,” Hunter says, looking between everyone, making sure it’s alright with them and the boys nod.
Hunter silently approaches the girls and catches Omega’s attention without interrupting the two of them. Omega looks at Hunter questioningly, knowing he was talking with the others about accepting Maisy. He gives her a small nod, causing Omega to brighten and get excited.
“What?” Maisy asks her.
“Nothing..nothing, I’m just so excited to have you with us. You know I mostly grew up around boys so it’ll be nice to have a girl with us,” Omega tells Maisy.
“You mean the other clones?” Maisy asks and Omega nods. Hunter smiles as the girls talk before rejoining the rest of his squad.
After Hunter and the others finish talking, Wrecker decided to be the first one to introduce himself to their newest addition. He easily and seamlessly joins the conversation the 2 girls are having and starts talking loudly, meaning he’s excited. Echo and Tech both look at Hunter before Echo decides to join the others, leaving Tech alone with the sarge. Hunter sighs to himself quietly, earning a glance from the scientist/pilot of the squad.
“I know it’ll be an adjustment,” Tech suddenly tells Hunter, who looks at him, “and it certainly won’t be easy.”
“You’re telling me,” Hunter replies.
“But…it’s worth it. She’s worth it,” Tech says, looking at the little girl. Wrecker is telling Maisy about the time on Pantora, with Echo and Omega chiming in adding details here and there. Hunter nods. He knows that it’d be wrong…cruel, to leave a child in need. Though he wouldn’t admit it, children are a soft spot for him.
“We should probably join them-“ Tech suggests and that’s when Hunter catches Maisy’s eye. He nods at Tech before walking towards the rest of his squad.
They spot Hunter and Tech and Omega pauses the story, though it was almost over anyways with her telling Maisy she was saved by Hunter on a speeder.
“Hunter,” Omega greets, smiling and Hunter softens, returning the gesture with a nod before turning to Maisy.
As a Jedi, Maisy knows that it’s her job to do what is best for the group. That was what Master Secura had told her class when she stopped by for a lesson. But the little girl can’t help the tears that start forming.
“Maisy? What’s wrong?” Omega asks, clearly concerned.
“I don’t wanna be a burden sir, I can stay by myself-“ Maisy tells Hunter, her voice wavering as her lip trembles. She had expected the sergeant to say that he wasn’t serious, or that he had changed his mind…or that the others disagreed. Maisy wasn’t stupid and she had a feeling Hunter had only told her those things because Omega was insistent.
“What? I—..You’re not a burden,” Hunter tells the girl as Omega gently rubs the little girl’s shoulders affectionately. She sniffs hard and swipes her wrist under her nose.
“Hunter’s right-we want you with us. I’ve never had a sister before and I’d be a pretty bad one if I let you go off on your own,” Omega says.
“Sister?” Maisy asks, “I..would be your family?” She asks and Omega smiles and nods.
“If you want,” she tells the Youngling.
“So..would you all be..my brothers?” Maisy asks the clone soldiers. They blink and share a look and before Hunter can answer, Wrecker takes a step forward.
“You betchya!” Wrecker says, making Maisy smile, but it falters slightly when she glances at Hunter. He smiles and nods.
“Wrecker’s right. We’re…family,” Hunter assures Maisy.
“So..what’dya say kid?” Hunter asks and Maisy nods.
“Thank you,” she says and hugs the sergeant. He smiles and hugs the little girl back before she lets go and proceeds to hug each and every one of the Batchers, saving Omega for last, giving the girl a tight hug, making Omega laugh.
Time Lapse..about 2-2.5 weeks…
*set in Episode 11 Devil’s Deal*
A couple weeks have gone by and the Batch have begrudgingly accepted their first job from Cid since taking in Maisy. Hunter, obviously worried about when the time came to start doing jobs again, has made it clear to Cid that the girls come first, no matter the job.
They’re to deliver a shipment of blasters to Ryloth. To someone named Gobi Glie. As Wrecker, Tech and Echo load up the Havoc Marauder, Hunter pulls Omega and Maisy aside.
“Listen up you two,” Hunter says and the two girls stand at the ready, excited.
“There’s gonna be rules that have to be followed without question,“ Hunter states. Omega and Maisy nod.
“First off you both stay on the ship. This is a simple delivery job so there’s no reason for either of you to leave the ship,” Hunter says.
“Yes sir,” the girls reply simultaneously.
“Second, Omega, because you’re older, you have more responsibility. Maisy, Omega’s in charge and you do as she says. She knows what to do if something goes wrong,” Hunter tells the girls. Maisy glances up and Omega smiles and nods so Maisy looks back at Hunter and nods.
“I understand,” she tells the sergeant.
“Ok,” Hunter nods and motions for the girls to get on the ship. He helps Wrecker and Echo with the last of the crates as Tech fires up the ship.
There’s a small, desolate moon above Ryloth that is the designated meeting/drop off place.
“Approaching at 1-6-2,” Tech announces. Maisy’s with Omega, buckled in the row of seats just behind the cockpit. They feel the ship slow and move down and feel the ship land and the doors open. Hunter walks out with Wrecker carrying the crates and Tech and Echo following them. Omega motions for Maisy to follow her as she takes a seat on the top step of the ramp that opens up. Maisy follows and sits next to the blonde girl and they watch as Hunter approaches 3 Twi’leks. One of them is a young female, probably about a year or so older than Omega.
“Are you Gobi? Cid sent us,” Hunter asks the blue Twi’lek.
“Along with 3 dozen blasters and a case of thermal detonators,” Tech adds.
“Let’s see them,” the one called Gobi says. Wrecker brings the crates forward and Tech and Echo open the lids.
Meanwhile, the younger female Twi’lek with bright green skin gasps in awe at the sight of the Marauder before approaching. Hunter watches the young Twi’lek walk towards his ship, but says nothing, trusting Omega to handle it.
The young Twi’lek approaches. Maisy instinctively scoots closer to Omega and clings to the older girl. Omega gives the Youngling a reassuring nod before looking at the Twi’lek girl who appears to be her age.
“What type of ship is this?” The young Twi’lek girl asks.
“A modified Omicron-class attack shuttle,” Omega replies.
“Can I have a look inside?” She asks. Omega shifts to look behind her, at the rest of the Batch, at Hunter specifically.
“Hunter!” Omega calls out. The sarge looks back.
“Can she come aboard?!” Omega asks. Hunter just nods before turning his attention back to the client, Gobi.
“Ok, you can come up. But no funny business,” Omega warns, pointing a finger.
“Funny business?” The Twi’lek girl asks, clearly confused.
“Uh-huh. I’ll be watching you,” Omega says and she stands. Maisy jumps up and hurries inside.
“Uh-ok then, show me around,” The Twi’lek girl chuckles as Omega follows the Youngling inside. The girls head to the cockpit.
“What’s your name?” Maisy asks the Twi’lek girl.
“I’m Hera Syndulla, what’re your names?” The Twi’lek girl, Hera, introduces before asking back, looking between the 2 girls.
“I’m Maisy,” the younger girl says and looks up at Omega.
“And I’m Omega,” she says.
“We’re sisters,” Maisy tells Hera.
“You are?” She asks Omega and the young clone nods with a smile.
“Do you have siblings?” Maisy asks. Hera nods sadly but doesn’t say anything. Before Maisy can pry, Omega puts a hand on Maisy’s shoulder, silencing her. They get to the cockpit and Hera takes the pilot seat with Maisy in the co-pilot seat.
“This is the sensor array, and that’s the deflector shield, over there’s the nav computer and there’s the hyperdrive,” Omega lists, pointing at all the controls on the dash. Maisy spins around in her chair.
“You sure know a lot about this, do you fly?” Hera asks Omega.
“No. Tech won’t let me train until I can recite all the ship’s specifications from memory,” Omega explains.
“Specs are only half of it. Flying is…it’s about a feeling,” Hera says.
“What do you mean?” Omega asks.
“When I close my eyes and picture myself up there, I feel it. The instruments help guide you, but you plot your course…you’re free,” Hera explains dreamily.
“So you’re a pilot?” Omega asks.
“No—not yet. But one day,” Hera says hopeful of her dream.
“C’mon, I’ll show you my favorite part of the ship,” Omega says, motioning for Hera to follow and Maisy smiles, knowing exactly what Omega’s talking about, also following.
They approach the short ladder that leads up to the gunners position.
“Up there, that’s where we sleep,” Omega explains as Maisy climbs up the ladder and sits, leaning up against the side wall. The lights strung up everywhere are one and Maisy even made a few crude, childlike drawings of Maisy and Omega and even one of all of the Batch.
“You guys get to live on a star ship? That’s my dream,” Hera says with a smile.
“Well technically it’s our gunner’s mount, but when we’re not being chased or shot at, it’s our room,” Omega explains.
“Who’s chasing you?” Hera asks, her eyes moving back and forth cautiously.
“Are you in some kind of trouble?” Hera asks. Maisy and Omega frown with confusion.
“We thought you were in trouble. Isn’t that why we’re here?” Omega asks Hera.
“If you’re in trouble, you should take this,” Maisy says, reaching in a small drawer in the gunner’s seat. It’s a data chip that contains contact info for the Batch.
“Here,” Maisy says, holding the chip out to Hera.
“Maisy-“ Omega warns.
“What? You helped me when I needed it. Besides this is just in case,” Maisy says. Omega nods and Hera takes the chip from the younger girl.
“Thank you, I won’t tell anyone I have this and I’ll only use it in an emergency,” Hera assures Omega, tucking the chip into one of her pockets.
Meanwhile, Hunter and the rest of the Batch finish the transaction.
“It’s a start. Tell Cid to contact me when she has more to sell,” Gobi tells Hunter, handing the sarge a briefcase, presumably the payment.
“Building an arsenal attracts attention. You better know what you’re getting into,” Hunter warns the blue male Twi’lek.
“We don’t have a choice,” Gobi says, picking one of the crates up by one side. He glances back as Maisy, Omega and Hera approach the landing ramp steps.
“Hera, we’re leaving,” Gobi calls Hera back.
“Thanks for the tour,” Hera tells the girls.
“Any time,” Omega says and motions for Maisy to follow. They escort Hera off the Marauder and join the Batch as Gobi loads up their ship with their newly acquired weapons.
“Good luck,” Omega says and both her and Maisy wave at Hera. She waves back at the girls before running to catch up.
“Make a new friend?” Hunter asks the girls.
“She’s kind of strange,” Omega says.
“I like her!” Maisy exclaims.
“I like her too,” Omega agrees before looking back up at the soldiers.
“Did you know flying is about a feeling?” Omega asks before her and Maisy hurry back to the ship.
“What feeling?” Tech asks before the boys walk back onto the Marauder.
Tech fires up the ship and Echo plots the course back to Ord Mantell as Wrecker buckles Maisy into her seat. Omega does her own as Wrecker joins the others in the cockpit.
“Do you think we’ll see Hera again?” Maisy asks Omega. Omega smiles down at the young girl and nods.
“I’m sure of it,” Omega assures her and Maisy smiles and nods. Omega thinks back to the chip Maisy gave Hera. It has direct contact info for the Batch and Omega knows Hunter wouldn’t exactly be pleased to learn that they gave that information out so willingly. She debates on telling the sergeant but after going over every conversation with Hera, Omega has determined that Hera was truthful in that she would only use that info if it was an emergency. Of course Maisy is unaware and Omega sighs quietly.
“Maisy…you know…we can’t just give out our contact information. We’re supposed to lay low,” Omega explains. Maisy nods.
“I know..but Hera’s nice. And she said she’d only use it in an emergency,” Maisy says. Omega nods.
“I know…but not everyone is friendly,” Omega says, remembering how exactly she met Fennec Shand, the bounty hunter…and how, at first, she had seemed like a friend, wanting to help her.
“But-“
“No buts Maisy,” Omega argues gently and Maisy pouts but nods.
“Ok…I won’t do it again,” Maisy says and Omega frowns.
“Just…check with me before, ok?” Omega asks and Maisy nods, remembering Hunter’s words.
“Ok,” the Youngling agrees. They feel the ship take flight as Omega ponders her options.

one thing that's incredibly important to me about hunter and omega's relationship is that he's not actually old enough to be her dad. he's 22 and he just lost his little brother for reasons he doesn't understand but now he has a little sister and he would die for her because she's his little sister and he's her big brother and she thinks he's invincible and he is now so SO keenly aware that he's not. but he has to try to be. for her. because she's his little sister and he just lost his little brother

watching tbb over with the context of omega seeing herself as their older sister because she technically is older than them and has been on the sidelines of their entire life and is only now able to actually do something to help them is like. oh my god. ohhhh my god.

As promised, my commentary on Hunter.... to the people that like him, im sorry.
Spoiler warnings and the like, this is pretty negative aside from like maybe three sentences?? Feel free to leave you're own opinions on this too ofc !!! >:)
I dont like Hunter.
Actually, that's not entirely true, I liked him in TCW season 7, when he was that silly man who fucked droids around the place, took no shit, and loved his brothers. I like the Hunter who, not putting this nicely, had a personality.
This is not a dig on him as a character, it's a dig on how he was handled, writing wise
Listen, I totally get that the "rugged-man-adopts-a-star-child" trope is popular, and I do LOVE that trope, really I do- I just don't really think it was done that well here? It's bothered me since s1 of the Bad Batch, and I don't think it's going to get any better this season....
My only real problem with the writing inconsistency of Hunter being an older brother of three to "Omega this, Omega that" and while I agree childcare is SUPER difficult at the best of times, Hunter had four brothers who were equally capable of taking care of Omega, too. It just never sat right with me that taking care of her became his ENTIRE personality
Hes a soldier, who despite being completely out of his element, had a routine he strictly followed for the whole war. Yet he seemed to completely forget about that ?? Stressed or not stressed, that worn in routines and LIFELONG LESSONS should not have left his head as quickly as they seemed to.
The most obvious and frustrating example of the oversimplification of Hunter's character is with Crosshair. I cannot even BEGIN to describe my anger when it comes to Hunter and Crosshair. It mainly stems from the way he just FORGETS his brother is with the Empire. Conveniently never bringing it up unless someone else did it first.
As the oldest sibling and squad leader, I personally think Hunter should have been the one to bring him up. It should not have had to be specifically mentioned by another character for Hunter to discuss it. He loves his brothers, he loved Crosshair, broody or not, he should have brought it up AT LEAST once, imo.
We also see this complete disregard for Crosshair AGAIN in s3, now that we have seen Hunter looking for Omega and not ONCE mentioning Crosshair. Has he forgotten that they were originally going to find Crosshair??? That they never actually FOUND their brother ??????? Annoyed me so much, tbh.
What else annoyed me was the singular language he used during the whole episode. "She's part of our squad." "Hemlock took SOMEONE from us." He's completely and utterly disregarding the OTHER TWO SIBLINGS that the Empire took away from him !!!!! It genuinely frustrates me so much.
I know I'm DEFINITELY nit-picking here, but even when Hunter looked to Tech's goggles, it was in a "He should've been here to do this." Way, not a "He should be here." Way. That's his brother, who died looking for another that Hunter has forgotten.
Hunter's tunnel vision is probably one my least favourite things about the Bad Batch, if I dare even MENTION that- and I love this show. It means so much to me, but I just can't handle this particular part of it...
I have so SO much anger directed towards the treatment of Hunter by the writers. I want the Hunter who was devoted to his WHOLE family, who fought for ALL of them, who would have NEVER allowed Crosshair to leave in the first place. Give me that Hunter back.
(Saying this- I do not mind Hunter and Omega's father/daughter and brother/sister relationship !!! I do really enjoy it- in small amounts. The fact that Hunter became nearly an extention of Omega really just- threw me off his whole character, really)
I specifically pick to ignore this when I'm making anything. Hunter has been a sergeant of three idiots(named endearingly) for the entirety of the war. One child who wanders around should not have taken up 100% of Hunter's attention, ESPECIALLY when he was surrounded and supported. It just bothers me, idk
Anyway, thats my rant !!! Back to some positives soon, promise !! I just had to get this off my chest, it's been BOTHERING me.

The Bad Batch Season 3 Episode 3 (scattered) thoughts and first reactions (ramblings)
Omg the sass king is back
The way Omega says essscaping reminds me of finding Nemo “escape (escapay)” and made me giggle
“I’m improvising 😊😊” “🤨this kid better be fucking joking🤦‍♂️” poor crosshair is used to having a meticulously thought out and numbered plan that the squad trained on- now he’s out here winging it with his older little sister
RAAAAHHHH! sorry but him screaming literally took me out 😂
THE EMPORER IS HERE?! (Read as: please put me back in my cell)
Omega: “The only available ship is the emperors” Crosshair: 🤦‍♂️ girl don’t even think about it
Omega: “Oh we can use this crashed ship I heard about!” Crosshair: 😳🙄🙄🙄this is the day I die
Omega: “ we can use the kennel tunnel but we gotta run fast or we’ll get trapped by ray shields 🥰” Crosshair “oh I can hardly wait”😂😂😂 tortured and exhausted but still sarcastic as ever
Okay but Crosshair listening to Omega’s crazy and improvised plan and just following her and telling her “you got us this far” after Season 1s Kamino episodes criticizing Hunter for following the plans of a kid and telling them that they would all die now likeeeeee way to trust your sister Crossy! We are developing!
“Did they teach you plan 72?” “Mmhmm Tech had me memorize all the plans” “of course he did” 😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔 screaming and crying
Anyway Crosshair girlies we were fed tonight the sassy king is still here! He’s being sassy and sarcastic with Omega like he was with his brothers in tcw arc and not being nasty which means he actually trusts her and feels at ease with her like he did his bros and I’m gonna rewatch this episode a million times.
We’re officially in our Crosshair and Omega era people!! 😍

The Omega in the Room
Spoilers under the cut for the Bad Batch Season 3 trailer. All of this is my personal theorycrafting.
So something I haven't really seen talked about all that much is this shot of Omega from the new trailer.
Tumblr media
She's flying a ship, clad in her Tantiss prison jumpsuit. The haircut is new, but her hair/eye color, clothes, and facial structure are indicators that it's her.
Now am I going crazy, or does Omega in this picture look markedly older than she does in Season 2 and in other shots from the S3 trailer? Take this one.
Tumblr media
Maybe it's just the angle and the expression being different, but the top Omega looks somewhat older to me, and not just because she's changed her hair. See how she comes up to the clone commando's elbow in this one?
Tumblr media
In this shot, she has her haircut from the cockpit scene. It's tough because she's standing in front of him, but she might be taller relative to the clone commando in this shot. And her face looks different. I really think this Omega is older than the one in the second picture by a not insignificant amount. Which is deeply worrying, because our girl is a Boba Fett-type clone. She doesn't have accelerated aging.
There's one other shot in the S3 trailer that people think is her, and it's the one of the downed Nu-class shuttle.
Tumblr media
From the little we can make out, it looks like the two figures limping away from the crash site are Crosshair (rightmost, under a pointy rock) and Omega (on the slope just under the front of the dorsal fin). The first shot of Omega with her new hair is in the cockpit of a ship, which looks like it could be from a Nu. I couldn't find any good pictures of the inside of a Nu's cockpit, but from the canopy/size it looks similar enough. A fan theory I've seen floating around for this scene is that this is the aftermath of Omega and Crosshair escaping Tantiss, with Omega's flying lessons paying off as they narrowly escape before being forced to crashland.
The last thing that's relevant from the trailer is Hunter's line that Omega's "been waiting for a long time." Hunter doesn't strike me as someone who speaks in hyperbole, so if he's saying it's been a long time, we're definitely talking months to years. If I'm right, Omega has been on Tantiss long enough to noticeably age by the time she escapes. With her being in the 10-13 age range at the beginning of the show, she's at an age where it doesn't necessarily take a really long time for her to start looking older, but this doesn't happen overnight either. I think we're talking at least a year, and very possibly more, since the end of Season 2 and the time she escapes.
In the shots we have of younger Omega in the trailer, we see her looking surprised to see Crosshair and staring sadly out a window. Older?Omega looks grim and determined as she is escorted through the Tantiss facility and flies a Nu-class shuttle before bailing out with the aforementioned Crosshair. I think she's definitely older and harder in these scenes, and the fact that it's been so long and she's changed so much is going to be some great angst when they rejoin the Batch.
I also think there's amazing fluff potential for Emerie bonding with Omega and doing her sister's hair, but I digress

Behind-the-Scene Interviews (Part 5) Emerie: The first time I meet Omega is when I reveal to her that we're sisters, and before that, we had just met on set a couple minutes before we shot that scene. We rehearsed for a little, and then had just went for it. Omega was completely ready. Emerie: I've seen Omega's acting and how well she's played her role in the past seasons, and I'm happy that I got to get closer with her not just on-screen, but off-screen as well during this season. She's a very smart girl, and she gets credit for how far she's gotten with this show and its success, and I'm happy to be her older sister. Emerie: Omega often comes to me and wants to play with me like she does with the other cast members, and we played a lot together while filming the first episode.

The Bad Batch theory "Into the Breach"
Nala Se told Emerie Karr in her cell that she has tried to help the children, but clearly she can't. She's not trusted by Dr. Hemlock (and likely never was).
But Nala was gently pushing Emerie to realize that she IS trusted by Dr. Hemlock. Emerie is his pet, his docile and tame dog, or so he believes her to be. And his continued belief in her docility will be her weapon. Emerie is used to thinking she's powerless, but Nala Se is telling her she's NOT.
To "step into the breach" means to fill the gap in battle or task when the original person can no longer do it.
Emerie will step into the breach left open by Nala Se. According to Dr. Hemlock, Emerie will have control not just of the vaults to Project Necromancer but the subterranean levels.
Guess what's down there?
The Zillo beast, and it's power to eat electricity and grow.
And who can tame a Zillo beast? I there there's one little sister artificially imbued with the Force, and good with animals that might be up to the task.
Emerie Karr has always been Omega's Jungian Shadow. The Shadow is what we fear or hate in ourselves, and such a character, especially in traditionally masculine tales, shows the Shadow to be base, lascivious, angry, or prideful, but for Omega, her Shadow is a figure of extreme docility, something Omega fears to be. Omega has already faced her Shadow, but this story is doing something interesting.
One part of the Heroine's Journey is healing the Mother/Daughter split. I think it's possible that Omega's Shadow, that other part of herself, the docile, obedient girl she could have been is the one to heal the split. Because it was the Creatrix, Nala Se, that made this separation between sisters, that in part, allowed a Shadow to form.
The overly docile, obedient, powerless young woman faced her mother and said, "I want to help these children, but look at me, you tossed me aside left me to a horrible man, I cannot help myself, how can I help other children."
And the mother is saying, "Are you really powerless? Your docility need not be real, it is a power now, let it be a fine deception [and Nala Se has always been a bold liar, she understands deception]. Use his idea of you, your new access to his vile chambers, against him."
And I think Nala Se IS changing. Yes, she's always loved just Omega, poured everything into Omega, and kept all other children at a professional distance. But I think she wants to change. To expand her love beyond what was her focal point, her golden child.
Why is it so important that the children ask for HOME? Because for the first time, Nala Se is thinking of children as having mothers and fathers too. And SHE is a mother. Always has been. And she hurt other children to save her own daughter. It's a common, understandable action in our world--people will save their own children before another. But it's still terrible, and children shouldn't be hurt whether they have parents or not.
And Emerie's accusation that Nala abandoned her must highlight to Nala, these clones ARE her children, whether she recognizes them or not. They exist in part because of her. Nala Se likely believed Emerie, and all the other modified clones didn't need parents. But as we see with Emerie, this isn't true. Emerie needed her, or needed SOMEBODY who could be family. The multitude of clone brothers had each other as family, older and younger brothers all around. Emerie had none of them.
Nala Se can love Emerie, and show Emerie that she is worthy and capable of love beyond what she can do. And paradoxically, it may be that Emerie, the girl Nala Se gave away, is more her daughter than Omega, the child she held fast to her as an extension of herself for so many years.

Hi everyone,
Here’s part 2 of my Chapter 4 of my Bad Batch fanfic Older Sister. I was unsure of how to write Chapter 4 (because in my fic it lines up with ep13 Infested—which imho I don’t really care for), so I decided to write it in 2 parts. If you haven’t, I recommend reading:
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4 *pt1*
Part 1 is written as it follows ep13 Infested to match the episodes. This is Part 2 and my own story. This does not affect future chapters.
*Also, along with this being my own story, I also took this opportunity to try writing different POVs. Please leave a comment if you like this or would prefer 3rd POV*
Warnings—spoilers for Bad Batch, mentions of O66 and trauma related to that, DOES NOT FOLLOW EP13 INFESTED, different POVs* Lemme know if I need to add more
Older Sister Chapter 4
Part 2: We’re Family
3rd POV
The Batch return from Ryloth and head back to Cid’s for their next assignment. Omega excitedly recounts details of what happened with Hera and how they helped as the group exits the Havoc Marauder.
“Oh! And then-I don’t know how-but the 2 clone troopers that caught Chopper started choking-“ Omega recounts. That’s when Hunter’s eyes widen.
“W-What?” The sergeant asks and Omega nods.
“Yeah, they started grasping at their necks like they were choking-“ Omega remembers. The soldiers exchange a glance between them before looking down at Maisy. She realizes they’re all staring at her and the youngling looks at them.
“What?” She asks curiously, wondering why everyone’s looking at her.
“Maisy—did you…I mean…did you-you know?” Hunter asks the Youngling, without directly asking outright, which only confuses the younger girl.
“Know what?” She asks. Echo puts his hand on Hunter’s shoulder pauldron and steps forward.
“Maisy..did you use the Force on those troopers?” Echo asks. Maisy looks at him and remembers the moment in question. Maisy remembers it had frightened Hera and confused Omega before the older girl had snapped her out of it.
“I-I didn’t…Chopper was—I had to,” Maisy stutters before looking at her hands worriedly. Omega puts a comforting hand on the Youngling’s shoulder.
“It’s ok. We completed the mission,” Omega tells her, though the boys share a look of concern.
“Why don’t you girls go get some Mantell Mix?” Hunter suggests. Omega looks at the sarge questioningly. Not that Hunter’s a credit pincher or anything, he’s just cautious of spending what little money they have, especially since they have a new addition to feed. He nods at Omega to go and she nods understandingly.
“C’mon, it’s tradition, remember?” Omega tells the younger girl. Maisy nods and takes the older girl’s hand and they walk off to the cart that sells it, leaving the boys alone.
“She can use the Force like our Generals,” Hunter tells the others in a hushed voice as they head into Cid’s parlor.
Cid is playing Dejarik with her 2 regular patrons. The Trandoshan bar owner spots them first.
“There you boys are. It was only a simple weapons drop on Ryloth you know-“ Cid tells Hunter.
“You created quite a stir,” she says.
“How’d you know?” Wrecker asks.
“I get customers from all over in here Muscles. Plus it’s all over Imperial channels,” Cid says, pulling out an old, beat-up looking radio transmitter.
“Well, we completed the job,” Hunter says.
“And here’s your cut,” Cid says, handing them a small pouch of credits.
“This barely covers our fuel consumption-“ Tech says.
“It was a weapons drop Goggles. You were supposed to be delivery boys. You all decided to go rescue a Twi’lek freedom fighter,” Cid argues before turning to the sergeant.
“Got another job for ya,” she says, pointing a clawed finger at him.
“We need to talk first. Something happened on Ryloth,” Hunter tells Cid, motioning to his brothers.
Cid looks at him and notices the girls aren’t there.
“The girls ok?” Cid asks. Not that she would admit it, but she’s starting to grow fond of them.
“They’re getting Mantell Mix,” Hunter says, nodding once and Cid nods.
“So what’s the problem Bandana?” Cid asks, crossing her arms.
“Maisy used the Force on 2 troopers,” Hunter says. Cid’s eyes widen with interest.
“Did she kill them?” Cid asks and Hunter shakes his head.
“No…Omega said she just choked them,” Hunter says.
“What’s the big deal? You said she’s a Jedi,” Wrecker asks him.
“She could’ve killed those troopers. Or hurt Omega or Hera,” Hunter argues rationally.
“She is rather young. She might not know how to control the Force,” Tech says.
“So we’ll help her,” Wrecker argues. Cid stays quiet and thinks on the situation.
“Wrecker, we’re not Jedis. How could we possibly help? Maisy needs a master,” Echo says.
“But the Jedi have all been terminated,” Tech points out.
“You don’t need a Jedi,” Cid says, getting the boys’ attentions.
“Look, the answer is simple,” Cid says, glancing at Hunter.
“Punish the girl any time she uses any of those Jedi tricks,” Cid says, causing everyone’s eyes to widen in shock, “eventually she’ll stop altogether.”
Everyone stays silent and gives each other uneasy looks. Cid shrugs and shakes her head.
“Listen to me, don’t listen to me, do whatever you laser-brains want to. What do I know about kids?” Cid says before leaving the guys to talk it over.
“I hate to admit it, but Cid does have a point,” Hunter tells Echo and Wrecker.
“We can’t force her to stop using her Jedi tricks Hunter. That’ll only make her resent us,” Echo argues.
“Echo, we’re just soldiers. We can’t possibly teach Maisy anything about the Jedi’s powers,” Hunter argues.
“Maybe we can’t-but punishing her for who she is can’t be the right answer!“ Echo argues, almost yelling, before taking a breath to calm himself. Of course Echo would be the one to be completely against this, since the Techno Union tortured him. Not that the Batch would ever hurt the girl, but to Echo, it’s almost as bad. They continue arguing about Maisy, not realizing the girls still aren’t back.
At the Mantell Mix stand, Omega and Maisy pick out what they want and Omega hands the credits over as Maisy takes her carton.
“C’mon, let’s go back, I’m sure the others are waiting for us,” Omega tells the younger girl, grabbing the 3rd carton of Mantell Mix she got for Wrecker.
“Ok,” Maisy agrees and they head back to Cid’s, munching on the snack as they walk.
They almost make it back when Maisy suddenly stops, feeling a…weird…feeling in her stomach. Not sick or hurting or anything…it’s a feeling like someone or something is wanting her attention. She looks around curiously.
“Huh?” She asks.
“Maisy? Maisy!? Hey! What’re you doing?” Omega asks, realizing the girl is just standing there, looking around.
“I..I thought…” Maisy says, trailing off, looking around. She turns to face a smaller alley.
“There,” she whispers. Omega looks where the Youngling is looking and just sees a small, dark alleyway off to the left.
“What?” Omega asks. Maisy stares at the alleyway, almost in a trance-like stare.
“I..I need to go that way,” Maisy tells Omega, pointing at the small alleyway.
“What? Why?” Omega asks, wondering why Maisy’s acting so weird.
“I dunno…a feeling,” Maisy tells her.
“How about after we finish our food?” Omega suggests. Maisy frowns, but when Omega motions for the girl to follow, the Youngling sighs and nods, remembering Hunter’s rule.
“Maisy, Omega’s in charge and you do as she says. She knows what to do if something goes wrong,” Hunter’s voice echoes in Maisy’s mind. The girls head back inside Cid’s parlor.
They walk in and the boys immediately stop arguing and go quiet as they see the girls walk in.
“Here Wrecker,” Omega says, walking up to the demolitions expert and handing him his carton of Mantell Mix.
“Thanks kid,” Wrecker smiles, though his tone is forced and Omega notices his accusatory glance at Hunter.
“What’s…what’s going on?” Omega asks, looking between them before her eyes land on Hunter. He gives her a look and Omega seems to realize that they were talking about what happened…what Maisy did.
“We were never in any danger-“ Omega tells the sarge.
“Omega-“ Hunter argues.
“We weren’t! Maisy was only focused on those troopers-“ Omega insists. Maisy looks uncomfortable and shifts on her feet before instinctively moving closer to Echo. While Omega is closest with Hunter (and Wrecker), Maisy is most comfortable with Echo (she likes Tech as well, but he’s more formal than the others).
“I’m sorry-I didn’t mean to hurt them—I just wanted to save Chopper-“ Maisy says as Echo picks her up easily.
“It’s ok, you didn’t do anything wrong,” Omega assures the younger girl before looking at Hunter. He sighs before looking at Maisy.
“I’m sorry sir,” she tells the sergeant, trying not to cry, “please don’t leave me-please,” the girl whimpers before clinging to Echo tightly, burying her face into his neck. She didn’t mean to upset Hunter, but Chopper was in danger. During Order 66, she couldn’t do a thing to save her master or the other Younglings she considered to be siblings. She didn’t want to sit by and do nothing again.
“Hunter,” Echo insists. Hunter’s face softens and he nods, approaching the 2.
“Listen kid..I know it’s only been a little over a month since we’ve met, but I haven’t done a good job as sergeant. As leader of this squad, it’s my job to take care of all its members. You’re one of us now, like Omega said and I haven’t made you feel welcomed like I should’ve. There’s nothing you can do, nothing anyone can do that’ll make me regret having them as part of Clone Force 99,” Hunter tells the younger girl. He added that last part when his mind drifted to Crosshair. As upset as he is with the sniper, Hunter also wishes Cross would change his mind and come find them…be a team again.
“R-Really?” Maisy asks, snapping Hunter out of his thoughts and he nods definitely.
“Of course,” Hunter assures the girl. She lets go of Echo and reaches out to Hunter. He can’t hide the slight blush on his cheek before quickly grabbing her from Echo. She gives him a hug.
“Thank you sir,” Maisy whispers. Hunter smiles.
“Just Hunter…ok? We’re a squad,” Hunter says.
“He means we’re family,” Omega adds and Hunter smiles and nods at the older girl.
“Right..we’re family,” he agrees as Maisy pulls back to look at him. Sensing the seriousness to his words along with the light, easy expression on his face makes Maisy certain that the sergeant means what he’s saying. She smiles and gives Hunter another hug, almost spilling her snack. She pulls back again and shows Hunter.
“Here, have some,” Maisy tells him. He chuckles and grabs a few pieces to eat. Maisy eats as well as the tension from earlier dissipates and the conversation turns to speculation about the next job Cid has lined up for them.
“I just hope she gives us all the information this time,” Echo grumbles and the others nod in agreement.
After everyone finishes eating, Maisy looks to Omega eagerly.
“Now Omega?” Maisy asks the older girl, who nods.
“Now what?” Hunter asks.
“Maisy and I wanted to explore the area-“ Omega says, not really sure what it is Maisy wanted to do. Hunter wants to argue, but Wrecker puts his hand on Hunter’s shoulder.
“Sure, I’ll go with ya,” Wrecker says, assuring Hunter they’d be alright with a nod.
“Alright, but don’t go too far and keep your commlink on,” Hunter instructs.
“Yeah-yeah, c’mon guys,” Wrecker tells the girls. Omega nods and follows Wrecker out. Maisy gives Hunter a lopsided smile as he sets her down.
“We’ll be careful,” Maisy assures him. He nods with a smile.
“Ok. Better hurry up to catch them,” Hunter motions, noting Wrecker and Omega are already gone. Maisy nods and hurries out, leaving Hunter alone with Echo and Tech.
“You’re right Echo…I’m sorry,” Hunter apologizes.
“It’s alright Hunter-“ Echo tries telling him.
“No-it’s not. I..I was just-I was worried you know?“ Hunter says and Echo nods.
“I know,” Echo replies understandingly. He felt that way about Domino Squad, and later about the 501st, and now…with Clone Force 99. That need to protect the others.
Meanwhile…
Wrecker’s POV
Maisy catches up with us and points down the smaller, darker alleyway off to the side.
“Wrecker?” The Youngling asks.
“Hm?”
“Did you know any Jedi?” Maisy asks me. I blink in surprise at her question, not expecting that.
“Oh..uh, not well. We mostly just reported to Commander Cody,” I explain.
“General Kenobi..the 212th,” she whispers.
“Y-Yeah, how did you know that?” I ask her.
“Since the Clone War started, all the Younglings had to learn which battalion fought with which Jedi General,” she explains as we walk down the alley.
“General Skywalker and Commander Tano were in charge of the 501st and General Plo Koon was in charge of the 104th and the Wolffepack,” Maisy demonstrates. I nod, remembering General Skywalker. I never met Commander Tano, but from what Echo has told me, I would’ve gotten along with her. Although we rescued Echo together, I don’t really know much about General Skywalker. None of us do really (aside from Echo, obviously). We were just focused on the mission. And we assumed, since Order 66, General Skywalker was killed like the other Jedi.
Before I can respond, Maisy suddenly stops and looks around. I see we’re in another almost identical market place area.
“Where are we?” Omega asks. Maisy points to the left.
“That way,” she says.
“But, where are we going?” I ask.
“I…I don’t know,” Maisy admits and Omega and I share a look.
“I don’t understand. If you don’t know where we’re going—“ Omega tries, but Maisy shakes her head, cutting the older girl off.
“I just…feel like we should go that way,” Maisy says, “I don’t know how to explain.”
“Maybe we shouldn’t go too far-“ I try.
“No! We have to go!” Maisy insists. I frown when remembering Hunter’s words. Don’t go too far.
“But Hunter said not to go too far,” I remind her.
“I hafta go that way Wrecker!” Maisy insists, tugging my hand. This…isn’t normal. Omega sometimes gets a little insistent with things she wants too, but…Maisy…it’s like a need for her.
I sigh and nod.
“Ok, but only for a little bit, ok?” I ask and Maisy smiles and nods.
“Thank you!” She tells me and starts running!
“W-Wait! Maisy!” Omega and I call, hurrying after the little girl.
She turns a corner and we follow her through the seemingly-maze-like area of alleyways.
“Maisy! Wait!” I call out, but she just keeps running.
“C’mon Wrecker!” Omega pushes and I nod, keeping pace with her.
Maisy may be small, but she sure is quick. I’ll have to remember that and tell the others. I notice how the buildings have become smaller and smaller until I see Maisy slow to a stop in front of an old, dilapidated building that looks long forgotten.
“What is this place?” Omega asks, walking up to Maisy. I look around. Rubble covers the area.
“This is it,” Maisy says, not answering Omega.
“Maisy? Where are we?” Omega asks her.
“I…I’m not sure…but it feels…familiar,” Maisy tells us.
“I wonder if this place was a Jedi Temple?” I ask.
“It looks like it hasn’t been used in a long time,” Omega notices and Maisy nods.
“Master Sinube used to tell us that there used to be a Jedi Temple on most planets. Over time some temples became lost and forgotten,” Maisy explains. She takes a step forward and I immediately put a hand on her shoulder, stopping her.
“Wait—maybe…we shouldn’t,” I warn. Maisy frowns.
“Why not?” She asks.
“Hunter and the others are probably wondering where we are-“ I say, pointing to my commlink.
“Aren’t soldiers supposed to trust their feelings when something feels weird? Well…this-“ Maisy points to the crumbling stone building, “feels weird to me.”
“Let me at least contact Hunter,” I reason with the younger girl. She nods.
“Good, they should see this too-“ she says.
“No-that’s not what I—never mind-“ I sigh and press the button on my commlink.
“Hunter, we found something you might wanna come see-“ I say.
“Wrecker-“ Hunter says in that tone of voice he uses when he’s aggravated or severely annoyed.
“Sarge—I think we found a Jedi Temple-“ I say and he’s quiet on his end.
“Sarge?” I ask, wondering if he’s still there.
“Alright Wrecker, send Tech your coordinates. We’ll be right there,” Hunter replies.
“Thanks boss,” I say before typing in our coordinates and sending them to Tech.
Hunter’s POV
“Alright Wrecker, send Tech your coordinates. We’ll be right there,” I reply.
“Thanks boss,” Wrecker says. I sigh.
“I just received Wrecker’s coordinates,” Tech announces and I nod.
“Let’s go,” I tell Tech and Echo before we all head out. I let Tech lead the way, keeping a cautious eye out.
We get to the outskirts of town and I see Wrecker with our girls.
“What are you all doing way out here?” I ask, getting their attention.
“Hunter! Look what Maisy found-“ Omega points at the building as we approach.
“Tech…is this really a Jedi Temple?” I ask. Tech pulls out his data pad and pulls his visor down to scan the building.
“Yes, built during the era of the Old Republic, it’s use declined over the years as the Jedi grew and outnumbered their rival, the Sith,” Tech explains.
“Sith?” I ask.
“Yeah..they’re like the opposite of Jedi. I helped defend Kamino from one of them,” Echo explains. CF99 wasn’t on Kamino when it was attacked during the war but we heard it was General Grievous along with an assassin.
“Why would you want to come here Maisy?” I ask the girl.
“I felt I had to. And now I gotta go in-“ she says.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, kid,” I tell her. She looks at me.
“Why not?” Maisy asks.
“What’s inside?” Omega asks Maisy, who shakes her head.
“I dunno…every Jedi Temple is different,” Maisy tells her before walking up the steps.
“Maisy-wait-“ I say, but she keeps walking, almost as if in a trance.
She stops inside and we follow her in. I look around. Almost everything is rubble or broken in some way. The walls are covered in art depicting what appear to be Jedi. Cobwebs cover different areas along with a thick layer of dust. Despite what it looks like now, this temple feels too…good..for me. Like I’m not allowed to be here because I’m not a Jedi.
“Alright, we came, we saw inside, now it’s time to go,” I tell Maisy. She shuts her eyes and raises her hand up, as if reaching out. We all look around. I get a faint whiff of electricity before I turn and see something shining in the darkness. Maisy turns and that’s when I see the shine wiggle slightly before suddenly flying at me! I move and Maisy catches it in her hand.
Her eyes open and she slowly uncurls her fingers to reveal a small bright blue glowing stone about the size of my finger knuckle. Maisy gasps, staring as if in awe at the brightly glowing stone.
“What is that?” Wrecker asks. Tech scans the small stone.
“That is a kyber crystal. Kyber crystals create energy and are most commonly used in the construction of a Jedi’s lightsaber,” Tech explains. I look back at Maisy and frown when I see she looks…almost afraid.
“Maisy? What’s wrong?” I ask and at first she doesn’t answer, not until Omega gently puts a hand on her shoulder.
“If I take this…that means I’m a Jedi…but…but they…they were all-“ Maisy stutters as her lower lip quivers. Tears form in her eyes and I realize she’s remembering Order 66.
“I saw—I was there…on Coruscant-“ Maisy starts crying.
“And they killed them. They killed them all-“ she sobs. Omega wraps her arms around the younger girl in a hug and pulls her close.
Flashes of what happened on Kaller, with General Bilaba and Commander Dume race by in my mind. That was a battle zone. I can’t imagine what it was like on Coruscant at the Temple. Most of the Generals we knew of were on the younger side so it’s assumed that the older Jedi masters were at the Temple with the young commanders and Younglings like Maisy, probably were caught off guard when Order 66 happened.
None of us know exactly what to say so Maisy’s crying is the only noise, and it breaks our hearts.
“Maisy…I..I know nothing any of us could say would make you feel better about what happened,” Omega starts, getting the girl’s attention. She pulls back and looks at Omega through teary eyes. We hadn’t met Omega yet when Order 66 happened so I wasn’t sure how much she knew. But every clone knows Jedi General Shaak Ti, the Jedi master in charge of all clones. I bet Omega knows her, or at least knows OF her.
“But you still have a family. We’re your family now and if you decide to become a Jedi, we won’t let anything happen to you,” Omega assures the girl.
“R-Really?” She asks and looks at all of us in turn.
I nod along with the others.
“You may not be a clone like us, but I…I’ve grown fond of you..we all have,” I say, looking to the others, motioning slightly for them to chime in.
“Sarge is right Li’l Jedi. You’re family…like a baby sister,” Wrecker says, which causes Maisy to smile, which I’m guessing, was his plan. Her smile fades a bit.
“I don’t wanna put you all in danger,” Maisy tells me.
“Are you kidding? We’re defective clones. We’re just as much a target as you are,” Wrecker tells her.
“Technically, he has a point,” Tech adds.
“And we love having you with us. You remind me so much of Commander Tano,” Echo tells her.
Maisy smiles and nods, wiping away the last of her tears.
“Thank you,” she tells us and we all nod.
“We’re family. We support each other,” Omega tells her and my mind wanders to Crosshair. We’re family—brothers. We’ll always be family. I just…regret not fighting harder for Crosshair. I should’ve fought harder for him.
“Hunter? Are you ok?” Omega asks me.
“Yeah…” I answer, trailing off a bit.
“Crosshair?” Tech asks and I nod slightly.
“Don’t worry—we’ll get him back,” Echo assures me.
“How do you know?” I ask. With the Empire growing each day, I’m unsure of how to convince Crosshair, especially since he’s said he had his inhibitor chip removed.
Echo thinks on it for a moment.
“You saved me even when the odds were against you,” Echo tells me.
“We’ve completed lots of ‘impossible missions’ before. And Crosshair’s our brother,” Wrecker says and I nod.
Omega’s POV
“We’ve completed lots of ‘impossible missions’ before. And Crosshair’s our brother,” Wrecker says and Hunter nods.
“We’ll get him back,” I tell him and his face softens.
“Thanks kid,” he tells me.
“Omega?” Maisy asks, getting my attention.
“Yes?”
“Will Crosshair..like me?” Maisy asks me. I blink at her question. I wonder if she understands the meaning behind it or if it’s an innocent question she’s asking. Either way, I glance to Hunter.
“Well-I’ve learned that Crosshair’s really hard to read. If I’m being honest, I don’t think he likes me very much,” I admit to the younger girl.
“What? But you’re so nice,” Maisy says in disbelief. I smile and ruffle her already messy, dark hair, making her giggle lightly.
“I think once Crosshair gets to know you, he’d like you,” I tell her and she nods seriously.
“Thanks,” she tells me before looking at the glowing blue crystal she’s holding.
“Is this what led you here?” I ask and Maisy nods.
“Kyber crystal,” she tells me. I stare in awe at the glowing blue crystal in the palm of her hand. It’s…pretty.
If I’m being completely honest, I don’t know much about the Jedi. The only Jedi I knew was Master Shaak Ti. She was in charge of all the clones. When she learned of my creation, she asked to meet me. I don’t really remember her, but I’d sometimes see her, passing by in a hallway or something. Nala Se wouldn’t let me go off on my own very often. I don’t really remember if she was affectionate or reserved and quiet…but…she was calm. That’s probably the only thing I can remember about the Jedi Master.
Doing research in the library, I’ve seen pictures and sliced media of Jedi making things float around. It’s a power they can do and now, after our mission on Ryloth…I’ve seen it for real…and used on an actual person. Making things float is one thing, doing it on a person is a whole other problem. I look at Maisy. I was on Kamino during Order 66. I remember everyone had started acting different. They straightened and started walking in formation. Then the alarm had sounded for a moment before it shut off. I didn’t know what it was then, but…now…after hearing Maisy talk about what happened, I realize that it was probably Master Shaak Ti when the clones turned on her. I didn’t know her very well, but the thought that she died makes me sad. And Maisy knows many Jedi that were killed. I can’t even imagine what she must be going through.
“Hey…Maisy?” I ask, getting her attention. She slips the stone into her pouch on her belt before looking at me.
“I..I know we wouldn’t want to replace them—the other Jedi—but I hope you know that you’re always our family, ok?” I tell her. She smiles at me and nods before colliding with my legs, hugging me tightly. I chuckle, smiling down at her and bend down. She warps her arms around me for a nice moment before pulling away.
“I wanna be a Jedi…so I can protect all of you,” she says, looking at us. We smile at her.
“You’re the youngest of us you know, it’s our job to protect you,” Hunter corrects. I nod.
“That’s what older sisters are for,” I tell her. I’ve never had a sister before, so I wouldn’t know, but it’s what I’d want to hear if I were Maisy. She smiles.
“We protect each other then,” she decides and I nod.
“Right,” I agree before turning to the door.
“So..can we go back now?” I ask her. She looks around the Temple.
“I…I wanna tell you all…what happened…but…but I-..I can’t-“ Maisy whimpers and wipes her eyes with her sleeve.
“It’s ok…you don’t have to tell us anything. We completely understand,” Echo tells her.
“Whenever you’re ready,” Wrecker tells her with a nod. She takes a calming breath and nods.
“Let’s go back to Cid’s,” Maisy says and leads the way out of the Temple.
I’m blinded a bit by the harsh light of day from the dark Temple room. That’s when we all hear a low rumbling sound before it gets louder and the building suddenly collapses in on itself!
“It was waiting for us,” Maisy whispers.
“What’re you talking about?” Tech asks.
“The Temple…it was waiting for us to get out before falling,” she explains.
“It’s a building—it’s not a living being. The structural integrity was failing when we entered,” Tech argues logically.
“I heard it,” Maisy insists. Tech looks to Hunter and Echo.
“We believe you kid,” Hunter assures her with a nod. She smiles as we make our way back to Cid’s. I turn around and expect to see the ruined Jedi Temple and my eyes widen when there’s nothing there but a closed over hole.
“Hunter!-“ I warn, pointing behind them. The others turn around and seem just as surprised as I am.
“W-Where’s the Temple?” Wrecker asks.
“Tech?” Hunter asks.
“I…am not sure,” he says, completely baffled. He turns to Maisy and we all do as well.
“It was waiting for us,” Maisy repeats and I think on her words for a moment until my eyes widen in realization.
“It sealed itself,” I realize. Maisy nods.
“Now only a Master and a Padawan can open it,” Maisy explains.
“Let’s head back. I’ve had enough fun for one day,” Hunter says and we nod before heading back to Cid’s parlor. I talk with Maisy all the way back.
Meanwhile…
3rd POV
Crosshair is gathering what he needs to hunt down the rest of Clone Force 99. Even thinking about his brothers makes him angry…and sad. He felt abandoned by the others, Hunter especially. He wouldn’t admit it, but he hated that Wrecker seemed to prefer some girl over him. And Tech…Crosshair had hoped that Tech would realize the truth, as the self-appointed info-dumper of the squad. Echo…well his relationship with Echo is different compared to the others since he grew up with them and Echo only joined them a few months ago..and he’s a reg. It wasn’t like he disliked all regs, most yes, but not all. One reg comes to mind at the thought of Echo. Their boss, Commander Cody. They reported to him most of the time during the War. HIs mind drifts to the commander and wonders what happened to him. He knew Cody often worked with General Kenobi and General Skywalker during the War and wonders if Cody followed through with the Order. Of course he did, it’s Cody, a man of rules and following orders. Now, Crosshair understands why. When they first met, he thought Cody’s strict adherence to the rules was annoying and time-consuming, having been with a squad that pretty much always bends the rules on missions. But that’s why the rest of Clone Force 99 fails. Good soldiers follow orders. Good soldiers follow orders. Good soldiers follow orders—
Crosshair takes a breath and sighs, lightly touching the disfigured scar on the side of his head. It’s sensitive, despite being healed because of how often he had to take his helmet off during recovery. Rampart thinks Crosshair will terminate the rest of Clone Force 99 once he hunts them down, but Crosshair has no wish to see his brothers die. He wants them to be whole again, by joining the Empire.
End.

Hello there!
Tumblr media
A few of my favorite Star Wars headcanons about clones
• Parental instinct
I've noticed that some clones have a highly developed paternal instinct.
I think Cut with his little family is not only one.
Hunter showed concern for childrens safety from the very beginning, like Kaleb and Gungi (surviving Wookie Jedi). He looks after Omega like his own daughter, as do the rest of the Bad Batch. Hunter definitely plays the role od father in his team as a responsible and a little overprotective leader.
Echo is the most mature in my opinion and in my eyes he will always be a mommy.
Waxer immediately felt the need to care for the newly met child and had no problem with hugging or comforting little Numa when she started crying. I just know that he loved children and secretly dreamed of starting a family, but he put himself entirely at being a soldier and protecting those who can not protect themselves.
Even Boil had grown strong bond owith Numa after some time and wanted to protect her at all costs.
I think Rex would also make a great father figure. He felt a strong need to take care of others. He acted as a mentor or an older brother for Ahsoka, and when he met Omega, he immediately got in touch with her. It's worth mentioning how he immediately stood between her and Bad Batch when he found out that the boys hadn't removed their chips yet. He remembered perfectly well what happened during Order 66. I'm sure he felt guilty that he had almost executed his longtime friend who trusted him with all her heart. He also felt responsible for his brothers who died in this tragic event.
I think this paternal instinct comes straight from Jango Fett's genes, who cared for Boba and loved him, and adopt him as his son. Jango asked specifily for him and knew from the very beggining that he want to adopt this kid. The Mandalorian culture is known for being easily attached to children, and they often decided to adopt kids, as fathers and mothers, and raise them like their own.
• Overprotective Hunter
Hunter is, in my opinion, the most sensitive and emotionally mature of the Bad Batch. He can read the feelings of others, especially those closest to him, so he always knew when something was wrong. Perhaps his enhanced senses have something to do with this.
He also has a tendency to be overprotective.
As a leader, he put the good of the squad before his own. I'm sure that running and hiding from the Empire, the constant pressure on his shoulders, was very tiring for him.
Hunter tried to protect Omega and his brothers the best way he could. That's why, the loss of any member of his family was a hard shoot in the heart for him. He sees it as a personal failure, as he failed his loved ones. He may start to think that Crosshair's words as true, that maybe he shouldn't be the leader, but he hasn't told anyone about his feelings and his own doubts.
But I think Echo knew... Echo knew that Hunter was worried and tired of the constant responsibility.
• Hunter and his senses
Hunter is a synesthete. This means that what he feels with one of his senses also affects the others. For example: he sees sounds, he can taste colors or numbers have colors for him. His synesthesia is a side effect of his enhanced senses.
Due to his heightened senses, Hunter also felt pain more intense than the other clones.
I still remember the moment Omega snuggled up to him after rescuing her when she was kidnapped by Cad Bane. Hunter winced in pain for a moment as his chest wound still was fresh. He had been shot with a blaster and almost get himself k!lled, and yet the most important thing to him was Omega. He ignored his own discomfort and focused fully on Omega, making sure nothing happened to his little girl. The expression of pain quickly turned into relief.
• Family
Some time after Omega joined the Bad Batch, they agreed on the role of family members:
Omega is their little sister, of course Hunter play the role of a father, while Echo is hailed as a mother. Our grumpy little bean muttered something about this being stupid idea at first, but in the end he liked being called mommy Echo.
Echo is a great addition to this crazy squad. He is the most experienced and can keep his family in line. It will never stop to amaze me how much good and love is hidden in the heart of a man who has never known a moment of comfort in his life and to whom no one has ever shown love. His physical and mental health were very bad after the events at Skako Minor. There was almost nothing left of the inexperienced Reg from the 501st Legion. Despite this, he will always remain my favorite character in all of Star Wars universe.
Wrecker is basically a second baby and needs to be looked after more than Omega, because if you let him out of your sight for a moment, he'll probably make a big mess.
Wrecker had the mind of a child trapped in the body of a large man. He is strong and could cause fear, but he have a soft heart. He cared for those closest to him, especially Omega. When his little sister was having a bad day and was sad, Wrecker was the first to make her laugh and even shared Lula, his beloved doll, with her.
I like to think that Tech and Crosshair are sort of twins (like Echo and Fives) they're a great duo and I miss their interaction so much. Tech, as the wise one, did not get in the way of the others, offering his advice when needed. Crosshair, on the other hand, although he seems cold and very distant, I think he would quickly like Omega and become a supportive, slightly sarcastic brother to her.
• Crosshair is not as cold as he looks
Crosshair hated being different, and called a freak from the very beggining. All his life he tried to blend in, to do his job well as a soldier, and as a member of the team. He didn't show it, but he was touched by other people's words about their group, different look, and specific abilities. That's why he hated Regs so much, he wanted to prove his worth to them. And also to himself.
When I saw Crosshair for the first time, I thought that he must have quite low self-esteem and become nervous in stressful situations. Whenever he took off his helmet, we saw him immediately reach for a toothpick. He felt the need to have something in his mouth to relieve the stress and tension in his body. He always seemed to me to be the type of perfectionist who pays great attention to detail and will practice until he achieves perfection in a specific field.
Despite his specific style, Crosshair wasn't as cold as he seemed. He really cared about Omega, and I'm sure that if they had the chance to spend more time together, Crosshair would like the girl and treat her like his little sister. He will destroy anyone who tries to harm Omega.
I also think that Crosshair secretly loves animals, especially cats. I imagined that it started with Wrecker once bring a white, homeless kitten to the Marauder. The animal started fawning at Crosshair's legs and refused to leave him even for a second. In the end, Cross liked it, petted him and cuddled with him, and even let him sleep in bed with him. Having a pet was a stress reliever for him. He named his kitten Alpine.
• The past still hurts, just as much as before
Echo often had terrible nightmares. We can see in the Bad Batch, that his PTSD was still very strong. Every contact with medical equipment could trigger a severe panic attack and anxiety. Fortunately, Omega was there to support him at the time. I'm always touched that even though Echo didn't know Omega back then, he trusted her enough that her presence really helped him come back to reality and understand that he was safe.
I'm sure that he had nightmares about being tortured and locked at Skako Minor, and also dreamed of Fives. I think because of this he may have even been afraid to fall asleep, and as a result he slept very little.
He missed his brother so much and blamed himself for not being there when he died. Echo was afraid of being locked up and deprived of help, so he tried to get involved as much as possible in the fight against the Empire. I think that was one of the main reasons he went back to Rex.
I also think that Echo and Tech had long conversations and spent a lot of time together while repairing or piloting the ship. They got along the best of the whole team and only with Tech, Echo felt relaxed enough to be able to talk about his feelings and problems he was struggling with. Tech never asked, like the overprotective Hunter, he just listened, and that was enough for Echo to discover a soul mate similar to his fallen brother, Fives.
I imagine one night Tech found out that Echo couldn't sleep and asked him what happened. Echo was so surprised that someone actually asked him how he felt that he didn't know what to say at first. He finally decided to open up and confess what was on his mind. Tech understood him and they became very close from then on. That's why Echo suffered so much after losing Tech. He felt as if he had lost half of his soul again.
I imagine that, Echo was the only one from the Bad Batch to still use Mando'a. He and Fives used to speak this language among themselves. Fives nicknamed him Ech'ika (little Echo). Now, Echo used to call Omega ad'ika. After Fives death, Echo sang an old anthem - Vode an (Brothers all) to honor the memory of his fallen brother. They had learned it when they were still cadets and used to sing it together before going into battle and all 501st knew the lyrics. This is one of my favorite headcanons.
I'm sure that Echo got a tattoo of a five in honor of Fives' death. In this way he always carried his brother with him and wanted to honor his memory.
• Nightmares
Omega took a while to get used to her new home after leaving Kamino. I imagine she often had nightmares that made her afraid to go to sleep alone. Hunter saw that and let the little girl sleep with him. He told her some stories about the planets they had visited on missions, and the bond between them grew stronger. He didn't admit it, but he had fond memories of those times together.
• Fives and his twin
If Fives survived, he would be the first to side with Rex to save Echo. Seeing his beloved brother alive, but connected to computer and badly hurt, he would be both happy and devastated at the same time. Fives would do absolutely anything to be reunited with his beloved twin, even if the whole Galaxy was against him and thought he's crazy.
After being rescued, Fives would make sure Echo was fewling comfortable and help him overcome his PTSD episodes. Then he would join the Bad Batch with Echo, because he didn't wanted him to feel different. Despite some problems, the Bad Batch accepted them as their own and they became very close, like family. I pictured them sitting around fire and how they shared stories from various missions together.
Then Fives saw that Echo was trully happy. He hugged him close, and when Echo asked what happened, Fives simply replied, "I'm just happy you're here, vod'ika. That's all."
• Astronomy lesson
Tech taught Omega astronomy. How to read sky maps and name constellations. They often sat together at night, watching the sky. Hunter would get a little angry when they stay up too late, fearing that both his brother and little sister would be sick, but his anger faded quickly when he saw the smile on Omega's face. Papa Hunter would do anything to make his little girl happy.
• Two captains
Howzer is Rex's twin, like Fives and Echo. They are giving the same vibe. They trained together from an early age, still as cadets, and then the war separated them. They are also very similar in character. Courageous and great leaders, they do not abandon their people until the very end. I feel they would get along pretty well.
• Brothers for life
Cody was like an older brother to Rex. His ore'vod. He trusted him the most of all the clones. They were inseparable from the beginning of the war and became very close after the Umbara ARC. I imagine Cody was comforting a devastated Rex. He knew perfectly well that under the mask of captain's determination there was a lot of pain and suffering after loss of many brothers. They were both good people who saw a lot of evil and death in their lives. They carried mourning in their hearts and finaly were able tolet go all their emotions. It was the first time Rex had let tears flow in his brother's arms. He felt loved and safe, and Cody didn't let him go for a long time. From this moment, they looked at each other a bit differently, carefully analyzing the other's emotions and making sure that everything was okay. Besides being strong and serious leaders, they were caring and loving brothers on the inside.
Also, I just know that they were having small competition. The 501st and 212th were competing against each other as to which legion/batalion was more effective in combat. General Kenobi and Anakin secretly supported this fun game.
• Suffering medic
Kix put a lot of pressure on himself as a medic. He wanted to save as many lives as possible and not let a single soldier die. He always fought to the very end, refusing to rest until the last man was healed. Each death of his brother was equally painful for him and he treated it as a personal failure.
Umbara left a huge mark on him. He failed. So many of his brothers had fallen, and he worked until he was breathless. Only when he was so exhausted, that he could no longer stand on his own, he agreed to take a break.
Kix sat alone against the wall, looking at his hands, and cried quietly. His hands and armor were covered with the blood of his brothers. Some of them were badly hurt, others didn't make it. Kix wished he were in their place right now and felt guilty. It was hard for him to be the one that survived.
He didn't know how long he sat like that, but at one moment he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder and a calm voice that he recognized immediately. It was Jesse. His best friend, his brother... Jesse told him that he did everything he could, that it wasn't his fault, but Kix wasn't convinced.
Then Jesse, seeing how bad his brother's condition was, that he started shaking, without thinking much, he wrapped his arms around Kix, pulling him into a tight hug. The medic did not protest and gave vent to his emotions and helplessness. It was the first time anyone was interested in his health. He had always been responsible for others and now someone was taking care of him. It felt nice, warm... Kix hugged back his brother and they both know that they feel the same way.

A Study of Crosshair
Crosshair isn’t my favorite character on The Bad Batch, and in fact I’ve most often found his intransigence and surly personality frustrating. I have to give him credit, though, for changing over the seasons, and coming to realize that his loyalty and trust isn’t always given to the best people. Crosshair’s blooming relationship with his little (older 🤔) sister Omega is heartening to watch, and I…

Bad Batch Headcanons — Moving Omega into her college dorm room
Because it’s that time of year again in the US, so why not.
Hunter
Look, this man got hit with the Dad genes hard when Omega came into his life. If you think he isn’t going to be the most emotional parent moving their kid into college, you’d be wrong. He hates that Omega is leaving home, but he’s also so excited about seeing her take her first steps into her adult life. Guess who is going to be taking the most pictures of Omega in her new dorm room and with her new roommates and floor mates?
He will be the first “parent” to make friends with the RA. He didn’t plan on it. It just sort of happened. Hunter became the RA’s go-to counselor whenever the dorm gets chaotic and they need advice.
Hunter is also the one most likely to teach a few self-defense classes for everyone on Omega’s floor. Safety is a big must for him. His overprotective instincts extend beyond Omega very quickly.
He’s also becomes friends with all of Omega’s floormates’ parents. They have an ongoing text message thread. (Their kids don’t know that fact. Neither do the rest of the Batch.)
Hunter will also be the one who sends the best care packages. (The entire Batch help, of course, but Hunter takes point on making sure that Omega gets care package from her brothers.)
Crosshair
He is a man of few words, but he is the first person to clock every annoying punk kid who might give Omega a hard time. Crosshair is the one who nips that in the bud before it becomes a problem. He might not be the obviously overprotective big brother, but he is still protective.
Crosshair parks it in the common room if anyone needs him. Just poke him if you need help moving stuff. (He’s probably taking a nap, so be careful.)
He’s also the one who just so happens to leave alcohol under Omega’s bed. Don’t worry. Crosshair trusts her to be relatively responsible, but he also knows what’s up in college. Just don’t tell Hunter about that.
Weirdly, he gets along with all the younger siblings who got dragged in to help their older siblings move into college. Crosshair won’t entertain them, but he’ll be the adult in the common room when they need a break. Kids love that he’s a little shit.
He won’t admit that he’ll miss Omega now that she’s in college and out of the house, but he does.
Tech
He figured out how bad the firewalls at Omega’s college were before she moved in. He found them to be laughable. He also built her a laptop with ridiculously good protection and storage space. Tech is not going to let his little sister have a computer that would be open to any number of virus due to bad college firewalls.
Tech won’t admit to hacking into the registrar’s office to make sure that Omega gets her preferred classes (and the ideal class schedule). No one can prove that he didn’t though.
He’s also made sure she’s got a perfectly serviceable college-appropriate car. The amount of safety features are clearly post-market though. Tech won’t sacrifice Omega’s safety for anything. (He also included a few fun upgrades that he definitely didn’t tell Hunter about.)
Tech established a secure chat room and Discord channel for Omega and her friends. He sometimes pops in to offer computer support.
Omega gets a customized gaming set-up courtesy of Tech. He schedules hang-out time around her schedule where they game together.
Wrecker
Wrecker basically moves everyone into Omega’s dorm. Once he gets going, there’s no stopping him. Every single dad appreciates that he’s there to do the heavy lifting.
After Hunter, he’s the second most emotional person about moving Omega into her college dorm. Wrecker can’t believe how big she’s gotten.
He leaves Lula on her bed when the Batch finally leaves campus. Omega is going to need that familiar comfort when she’s finally alone. He feels better about leaving her there with the knowledge that she has Lula with her.
Wrecker is responsible for Omega’s dorm room decor. He makes her room feel like home, complete with twinkle lights and calming colors.
He’s absolutely the one rocking all of the college swag. Wrecker raided the college store and made sure the entire Batch is geared up appropriately. (His brothers appreciate him doing that. It’s debatable if Omega does as well.)
Echo
Guess who is Mr. Snack and Supply King? Yeah, this guy. He’s the one to make sure that Omega is stocked up on everything she needs to get started at college. Hunter may be the care package dad, but Echo will always do the grocery store run.
He is also the one who finds the best deals on all her books. (Echo and Tech collaborate on that front.) Word quietly goes around the floor that Echo knows things, so he gets hit up by cash-strapped students. (He always does what he can to help.)
Wrecker stuck a college-branded baseball cap on his head shortly after they arrived to move Omega into her dorm room. Echo didn’t take it off. He’s so proud of Omega.
He also makes friends with Omega’s RA. Echo is the one who can help with dealing with stupid shenanigans that college kids get up to when left unsupervised.
Echo is also the one who gets called when Omega and her friends get into trouble during orientation weekend. He’s the one who will definitely bail them out with minimal questions asked. (That conversation will happen with Omega one-on-one later.)
Omega
She’s super excited about taking these next steps into her adult life. It’s a big move for her. That doesn’t mean that she won’t miss her brothers though.
Omega appreciates that they all moved her into her dorm room. Having their support means a lot to her.
She had scheduled calls with all of them set up before she even moved into her dorm room.
Omega has no trouble making friends in her dorm and on campus. She’s also going to be bringing friends who don’t have family nearby home on school breaks. She doesn’t want anyone to miss out on being around family, even if it’s just her weird family.
Even though she’s excited about this new stage in her life, she also gets sad when her brothers leave. She’s grateful that she has Lula. (Omega snuck a plushie from the college store into the car for Wrecker to find to replace Lula.)
+Rex
Somehow, he got roped into moving Omega into her college dorm room. He’s not sure how that happened. It just did, and here he is. So, he makes the best of the situation.
All of the moms love him.
Rex is a very handy guy. He gets all the beds lofted in a timely fashion.
Everyone thinks that he’s Omega’s dad. (He gets a kick out of it, especially since Hunter gets increasingly annoyed by that fact.)
