ASTRO OBSERVATIONS PART 31 🎁

MASTERLIST

Having both 10th and 8th house placements is so annoying. If there is something an 8th houser need its privacy and thats the one thing 10th houser will never get.

Venus Square Pluto in a mans chart is the ”the girl i was in love with in my teens rejected me and I never got over it” kinda energy. Very often there is some kind of bitterness towards women.

Projection is not only projecting negative stuff onto others, its also projecting positive qualities on to people, something that neptune energy tends to do. They be like ”nooo she would never do that”.

People with Neptune/Pisces 2nd house are so confused when it comes to money. The ones to buy a Guccibag when they dont have a bed.

Pluto conjunctions in composite can indicate a relationship that never ends. ”We are not done with eachother” kinda energy. You might be in your teens now but trust me you will bump into eachother again when you are like 40. Not even moving to different countries can separate this bond.

Venus aspecting Neptune people are so damn artistic. Especially when Uranus is involved. My friend have the conjunction to both Uranus and Neptune and everything she wears look so good and unique. And she finds the clothes nobody else have.

People with 8th and 12th house energy needs to be careful because they attract people who are addicted to their energy. People who dont even like them wants to be around them bc of it. Same can be said about 2nd house placement and their possessions.

Mercury trine Ascendant makes someone a good actor because their body language and what they want to communicate works perfectly together.

Venus can shows a body part you like to take a little extra care of. My mom is a pisces Venus and growing up i always saw her do foot baths, etc. Libra Venus might like to work out their butt at the gym etc.

I just have to laugh when I see people with Lilith 11th house take the bullies side because trust me honey it will be your turn next.

Women with Cancer/4th house placements are the kind of women who are seen as good mothers by outsiders no matter what they do. Especially Fama(408) in Cancer. Might also hide behind their mom image when you accuse them ”I would never do that Im a mother for god sakes”

Moon Square Mercury is super exhausting to have. A lifelong battle between heart and mind.

A mix of Libra and Cancer in the inner planets in a womans chart almost always guarantees popularity. Especially if its Libra Sun with Cancer Moon.

People with Lilith 4th house might have had a mother who had issues with them being home alone. Their mom might not go to work when the lilith 4th house person is sick and home from school even tho the kid is over 15 and can be at home by themselves. Constantly in the kids face.

People with 6th house placements tend to be naturally gorgeous. A lot of them look better with no makeup or light makeup.

Moon Square Uranus people might cut the bond out of nowhere. A person in my town with this aspect is even known for this. She become best friends with someone and have these sleepovers and are constantly close to them then out of nowhere something happens and she never talks to them again. Uranus Square can make someone just snap out of nowhere.

People with Nessus(7066) conjunct Mercury have a habit of wanting to mentally undress people and make things into something more serious than it is. You wear a maxi dress and they be like ”you dont like your legs” uhm no honey I just thought this maxi dress looked good.

People with Jupiter in the 1st house can sometimes be a little too laidback and not make an effort because they always attracted attention without doing anything. They never had to ”fight” to get attention, social contacts, fame etc. This can make them socially lazy.

Pluto aspecting the Ascendant can give you the kinda energy that nobody will try you, but it can also do the opposite. Pluto either scare the freaky people or pull them in.

People with conjuntions to Chiron = being turned off by people who likes them and chasing people who will never want them instead. (Especially moon and Venus)

Yo! Do you have any notes/tips for your coloring process? I've always had trouble with that part of drawings looking good lmao and I really like yours! If not for your specific style, do you have any tips with that in general?

Iv gotten a few asks about how I color but iv always avoided answering because

A) I am absolutely awful at explaining things, and

B) I am a very Very lazy artist you should probably Not do the things that I do

BUT i feel bad gatekeeping(?) my horrible technique if it helps anybody ig ill try and explain so

line art of a random character for the example, just pic whatever colors you have in mind for your base colors, you can try using palette generators or basing it off of existing palettes/characters/whatever I have absolutely no idea how color theory works (& this is why you shouldnt listen to me) so im solely going off of vibes. but it is Rough so onto step 2 & 3

(edit to add i usually start off with the skin hair & clothes on separate clipping layers and merge them together towards the end.. i think i forgot to say that at all here oops)

I abuse the hellll out of layer blending modes. overlay, saturation & multiply mainly, but also difference, brightness & screen. (just doodle something & try all of em out to get a feel for them honestly ik theres a Lot and they can be intimidating) for this i just wanted a more cohesive warmer tone to start with so i added a peachy overlay & a slight ombré to the hair to add a bit more interest to the character.

then just the most basic of rendering, some blush & highlights just wherever i think theyd go.

Another thing they tell you Not to do, my next step is to block out all my shading in a vaguely purpleish multiply layer!!! i cant be assed to do it any other way im sorry…. once i have the basic shading down, i lock the layer & go in with air brush eraser & also airbrush in other colors wherever I think the purple is maybe too harsh/clashing

still wasnt 100% happy with the colors so messed around with some more layer filter/modes/whatever you call them then colored in my line art! i think this is honestly the saving grace for all of my art shshsdhhf color your lines people. doesnt have to be all (i dont, i like the contrast) but it usually helps to make some at least a little less harsh

then with a little more color tweaking im done! one random sleepy dude, fully colored (by my standards)

and then if a piece needs more dramatic lighting you justttt

im so serious play around with layer settings! these are just basic multiply & add(glow), there as so many others you can abuse the shit out of & nobody will know or care in your finished piece.

Happy World Frog Day! Here are the Bullrush Frogs and a bit of info dump about them <3

They were first released in 1991 for the UK and then re-released in 2001. So there are Tomy and Flair versions, as well as a release in the US, which has slightly different clothes and sitting/crawling twins. The Tomy clothes for them are similar to the Urban Life era, being a bit fancier. Official Bios (this one cracks me up):

FATHER WALTER BULLRUSH is known for being very, very lazy, but this is not really true. If Walter likes to do something, he will put all his limited energies into it. He will always be ready to drive the Country Bus for instance, he will even get up early in the morning if you need a driver. Fishing, of course, is his main love, that is, dangling a hook in the water. He does not like to catch anything because if he did, he would have to then find something else to do. Walter has found that by singing at the top of his croaky voice he can frighten all the fish away! His singing also frightens everyone else away, so he spends many a happy, uninterrupted afternoon on the riverbank singing and sunning himself.

MOTHER LYDIA BULLRUSH, unlike her darling husband, is always working and working very hard. She runs a beautifully spotless house and cares for her husband and four children, and that full time job is only a small part of her busy life. Lydia has a passion for wicker work, whether it is making baskets, hats or mats, her workmanship is imacculate and very artistic. Collecting bulrushes, dying them bright colours before leaving them to dry in the summer sun is the only job she gets any help with. Algy, her oldest son, enjoys the summer afternoons down by the river helping his mother whilst she enjoys teaching him to weave.

BROTHER ALGERNON BULLRUSH hates his full name, so everyone calls him Algy, even his mother who does not like nicknames and only does so, because it pleases her wonderful son. Algy, like his mother, has a passion for weaving, but unlike his mother he prefers to create impractical items like wall hangings. He claims these items he creates are art, not picture art like in art class at school, but abstract art where the shapes and colours portray the meaning and message. Lily his sister says he gets these strange ideas from reading too many stuffy books.

SISTER LILY BULLRUSH loves to sing and unlike her father has a beautiful voice. Because she is a little shy she does most of her practising down by the river where everyone avoids going because of her fathers singing. She originally wanted to be a pop star but now wants to be an opera singer because people go to see the opera all the time. Pop singers only have concerts when they have a record in the charts. Ottilee Marmalade is also giving Lily tips on how to be more confident, hoping she will overcome her shyness.

BABY BROTHER MOSES BULLRUSH must be about the only little boy in Sylvania who loves having baths. He spends hours and hours in the bath playing with his rubber duck and other bath-time toys. If only Lydia or Walter had more time, he would spend all day playing and splashing around in the tub.

BABY SISTER IRIS BULLRUSH must be one of the cleanest little children in Sylvania, because she just hates having baths, so therefore never gets dirty. When ever it is her turn to have a bath, she just cries and cries, then bawls her eyes out and splashes about until her parents get her out of the bath. Bath-time in the Bullrush household is always rather nerve racking!

just to make this long ask less scary ill let u know out the gate that im not really disagreeing with you on anything im kind of just thinking out loud

i think the definition of art is an interesting question to ask but its also just the wrong question to be asking when talking about the politics around ai art. like i dont think it actually matters at all what the definition of art is, even if a Real And True Definition of Art is given to us from the heavens and declared as Real And True, ai art will still be the same and corporations will still be evil about it. its just a dumb hill to die on imo.

i also think something you havent touched on is that art is frequently FUN to create. a common quality people take note of in art is that you can tell the artist had fun making it, and it makes it better, like the viewer can feel the artists delight through the work, and thats largely why people feel that ai art is so soulless. art CAN be a struggle but it also SHOULDNT be. art is something people make because they want to make it, and the entire appeal of ai art is that you dont have to make it.

but also that entire paragraph up there ^ literally has zero relevance to how ai art is indeed very bad in terms of the causes and effects it has within a capitalist society

ai art is fun! I generated image prompts with my friends the other night because one of them was really depressed and we had a great time riffing with each other and experimenting with different prompts. Art can also be made under conditions that are not fun (is professional graphic design fun? Is making art for advertisements fun?) and still be art. A piece of art that genuinely moves me to tears whenever I see it is Feel it Motherfuckers (you can google more about it if you want to read more on it). Not only is this a great example for defending an expansive definition of art, what I get from that piece is not fun but grief, rage, loss, and resistance - there is joy in these things too, but it is not what I take away from it.

like I’m actually just not that interested in this debate beyond the fact that people are being insane reactionaries when trying to define what art is, which is why I’m focusing on it because there are reams of people using “hard work” as the sole criterion by which to judge art. just assume I agree with all the other criticisms of AI art in its current form when talking about this, because my primary issue is that people are using a lack of effort/fun/whatever you want to swap in to say AI art is not “real” art. non-AI art can also be soulless and it’s no less art! This is not a defence of the current industry, this is not a pro-worker exploitation argument (just as defending photography as a medium is not a defence of putting realist painters out of work with “lazy automated images”), I genuinely do not care to defend it or debate that side of it.

the thing that struck me most about hbomberguys video on plagiarism is how it opened my eyes to what the practice even means. sure the only people who plagiarize are doing it because theyre lazy and dont care about the finished product (whether its an essay, a review, or a video) but the act of plagiarism sends a bigger message than that

it tells someone that you thought their work was good enough to be used someplace else, but the person themself was insignificant enough to not only not be mentioned, but to have their work stolen and passed off as your own. it also tells someone that you dont actually care about the topic youre discussing, which is likely a topic they themselves are passionate about.

as an artist in many different mediums myself, this hit really hard for me. i cant imagine someone stealing my illustrations, or saying my words as if theyre theirs. i feel so fucking bad for all the writers and creatives whos work was plagiarized in the videos hbomberguy went over, and for anyone else whos had to deal with this. its so horrible and extremely disrespectful

I love your young!Rose design with the braids & hair beads, it reminds me of the Black girls i knew in elementary school (2005-2011), so its deffo “period accurate” and also a delightful choice. The way you draw the human kids in general is really nice, youre really good at conveying specific features with minimal lines (like her & Mom’s nose shape). Do you have any tips for how you draw faces to make them not same-face or repetitively “white” features, especially when drawing in a less “realistic” style (i dont wanna say your style is cartoony but idk what i would call it tbh)? I took a life drawing class back in 2019 but we mostly drew the same two models or our classmates, and it was both a limited pool of features plus feels hard to translate into art that isnt attempting to be 100% realistic.

Sorry if this is rambly. Congrats on 10k. Love ur new icon, tho i miss the Horb. Do you take commissions? I think i asked this before but i forgetful af.

thank you for the ask :)!! i'm really flattered that you think i'm good at avoiding same-face syndrome because i am VERY LAZY when it comes to drawing and i could definitely be doing a better job ;^^ i'm also not the best at drawing people diversely(?), it's just something i have to get better at. there are people way more qualified than me to give advice about this... but i can try giving some tips

the first is that, like with anything, if i'm not confident that i can accurately portray something or a specific feature i will usually look up a reference. i like paying attention to things like the position of the browbone, height of the cheekbones, shape of the chin, shape of the eyes, length/width of the face, width of the nostrils, shape/position of the bridge of the nose, roundness of the cheeks, etc. when i draw characters (specifically the homestuck characters i like, because i think about them a lot) i have an idea in my head of how they look and how they differ from one another. for example i see jade with a longer diamond-shaped face while rose has a shorter heart-shaped face, so i do my best to depict that in my drawings

(idk if this illustration makes ANY SENSE bc like i said i think that i also struggle with pushing myself in regards to this and i think i still have more to learn/practice)

i think it comes down to paying attention to the proportions/types of specific facial features and adjusting them each to create a unique face

that said when it comes to stylizing what you see from photographic references, i understand that it can be tricky to simplify it. i really don't have any advice for this.... i just play around with it until it looks good while also being recognizable as the specific thing i'm trying to draw.......... so in that case i think it helps to use other people's art as a reference too! i don't really care about sticking to one "style" so i don't mind drawing in a slightly different way if i want to do something another artist is also doing. so for example if you're struggling with drawing 4c hair i recommend looking at other people's drawings of characters with 4c hair that you like and playing around with if you can incorporate their techniques into your own art.

i hope this all made sense ;^^ there are definitely a lot of tutorials out there that are way more informative than this one

also, to answer your last question, i plan to open up a few commission slots next week! (as long as i have enough time to that is)

Are there things you see in Indigenous characters in media that you wish were less common ? What about things you want to see more in Indigenous characters in media ?

So this is just my opinion obvi & some ppl might not agree with everything below, but here are some tropes or really common devices I see in Indigenous characters I hate and/or would like to see less of:

Interracial relationships but ONLY White person/Native person. I don't think this should stop or not be portrayed at all, but at this point it feels like we have more interracial relationships featuring a white person than we actually do depicting relationships between even Native people with each other. ESPECIALLY NATIVE WOMEN PAIRED WITH A WHITE MAN. God I am so sick of it, please give us Native/poc & Native/Native relationships for once, I promise it happens irl

That trope where a White person joins a Native tribe & essentially becomes one of them. For similar reasons as above, and again I don't think this portrayal should stop 100% & it's not necessarily "bad", but I'd like to see more diversity or a different approach to it. It seems like most of these are inspired by historical accounts of this happening irl, but most aren't historical depictions of actual historical people, which I actually WOULD like to see (White or not) more of, instead of just fiction. Also just kinda seems like wish fulfillment with White audiences who have a fetishization of Native people sometimes. Maybe I also hate it so much since it very often goes in with the white savior narrative too

Native women being brutalized on screen, oh my god. Seeing this over & over as a Native woman is literally so retraumatizing. A lot of times it gets to torture porn or voyeuristic, & wasn't even necessary to begin with. I don't care if it's to show how "bad" things are for us, I know, show it some other way.

White ppl making shit off of our Spirits & legends. Just leave us alone. They never get it right.

Just a lot of Native tropes in general because they're overdone. The Noble savage? Indian burial ground? Booooring. Unoriginal. Lazy.

Things I want to see MORE of:

This is just me because I LOVE history, but more historical Native settings BUT, set during Pre-colonization & precolombus. So many historic films about us are during colonization & being persecuted, & I think this is why so many Native people hate films with ndns set in history (in addition to making it seem like we ONLY exist in the past, which is fair), & other than that, makes it seem like our history begins & ends with being colonized

More badass Native ladies. I wanna see Native women who are femme fatales, wrestlers, assassins, martial artists, warriors, gunslingers, athletes, the works. I wanna see untouchable, dangerous Native women.

More fantasy & horror stuff I'm begging, I'm on my knees

The list for what we should STOP seeing in Native characters is honestly shorter because of 1. how severely underrepresented we are, and 2. Where we DO have rep has a lot of tropes that are very very overdone & constantly reuses those tropes, (besides the much lesser known, obscure stuff made by us for us, which isn't as high in number by comparison) so like the list for what we SHOULD try is literally so big I'll just end it here

saw that post abt the saberfaces and like while I can understand the point in like, a billion dollar company reusing a design/design element might not appear favorable and it isn't even that wrong to say they are squeezing their cash cow flagship character i fundamentally disagree because thats like the equivalent of complaining about jojo having every protagonist with a name that can be shortened to jojo or final fantasy always having reused monsters like bahamut

and this isnt even a "oh saber is good i swear!" type thing but like. fate's been around for almost two decades now and has had tons of media made with plenty of recurring motifs and thematics that are acknowledged by the writers who are incredibly vocal fans of the series so if you're going into a long established franchise and complaining about long standing injokes and long standing patterns it comes across less as poining out the flaws in a billion dollar company and more like you just dont like that you didnt get it at first? takeuchi samefaceness isnt a problem unique to takeuchi and there are thousands of artists who have the same issue and even then a bunch of the saberfaces werent even drawn by takeuchi at first (nero was wada and jeanne & mordred was konoe) so them playing off the saberface jokes with designs isnt even that agregious because even if they have similar colors you'd have to be reading it in bad faith to say that the fgo artoria and fgo jeannes takeuchi designs are the exact same. an artist can have a style to how they draw their characters and just because there is overlap does not automatically equate that to having lazy designs.

more than anything saberfacing is part of nasuverse iconography, when a character is a saberface it isnt just about selling the design it is in fact an intentional design choice that tells you about the themeing of the character. im not going to say that nasuverse lore is sacred because it definitely isnt and they are in fact just doing what they think is cool but when you have nasu literally adding a chapter for limbo because he thought hasendows design was so beautiful it shouldn't be limited to a single appearance and then had that expanded into one of the more popular story chapters that tells you that these are creators who do pay attention to the designs that go into their characters. the same applies to chica umenos oberon, to wada and redrops designs and so many more, they absolutely care about the art that goes into their series.

I'm not gonna tell you that you must absolutely do your homework to enjoy any piece of fate media we are all free to do literally whatever we want forever and -clenches fist- you can also enjoy it in any type of way even in a surface level way. but when you acknowledge that a series is long standing with deeper themes acknowledged by its long standing playerbase and that the writers have so much passion for their own work (for better or worse, again nasuverse is absolutely not immune to criticism), saying that it comes across as disingenuous to have a recurring character design injoke because its heavily popular now despite not being popular once upon a time in itself comes across as disingenuous. nasuverse stuff being born of niche doujin circles and still being in touch with those roots isnt some kind of disqualification of the existence of saberfaces or the reasons behind them. when we ask you to read fate stay night its literally because we want you to enjoy it More so that you can, in fact, understand why saberface is a thing to begin with. being a popular franchise nowadays doesnt remove any of that charm unless you're specifically ignoring them. we literally have bbs profile in fgo say 'if you want to understand her deal and the deal of other similar characters read fate extra ccc' (bb herself being a sakuraface) so like theyre fully forward about the most accessible entrypoint into the franchise having a ton of history behind it

I been angry, but I am just pissed as sh1t rn let me be petty like?? So ima talk. After all this time, after seeing all I have seen, hearing all that I have heard, received all that I have received - Ima talk. Nuff silence; block me all you want but - Ima talk.

The "Star Trek" fandom is literally full of bullsh1t.

For a source material that speaks most largely on exploring strange NEW worlds, to SEEK out NEW life and NEW civilisations, to boldly go where no one has gone before... (though nothing is really new...) ... yall are just so nuzzled up and comfy over here in this hive echo-chamber you call a "fandom" because you can so easily and comfortably pervert the principle of differences and diversities in Star Trek so that you can surf the dunes of your own politicised, discriminatory, prejudiced, distorted delusional sandbox of what "freedom of speech" and "freedom of identity" and "liberty itself" (whatever tf THAT means lol) and what fake twitter/tumblr-sjw and chronically online "woke culture" look, sound, and feel like, gone most greatly uncontested because as soon as one person says or people say something, then they risk outting themselves for the same sh1t they pull in this "community", which would ultimately lead them to lose this sickening "freedom" that they cultivated for decades to say and be the sh1ttiest in a homogenised sh1tty social environment where they won't ever be conspicuous or scorned; to blend right in (worsening over time).

I been silently lurking around in this pop-culture space, observing for the better part of a year, and it's ALL I need to see more than enough - and what I seen is precisely why I stay the fvck a w a y from most all of you and do not involve myself with most activities or events (if any) being done - and if I do, I do so with utter self-awareness and caution. I been seeing what so many of yall doing and been doing. Whether you out here drawing strictly pink red-blooded Spock's; bleaching Uhura; being anti-SNW Uhura; accusing Spock to be anything near an anti-sem1tic symbol; forcing pressurised and uncomfortable messages to many artists over the years in their DMs completely unsolicited and unasked for without consent to make them draw Kirk the way you see yourself for your own restrictive agenda while completely disregarding the everything the artists say to you; talking about race theory when you don't even know what a hypothesis is; being a spokesperson for the population of people you have absolutely z e r o agency over; talking about or participating presumptuously or dismissively in subjects regarding identity that you have no idea about and don't investigate; using your identity as some kind of ticket of immutable correctness when you in fact still have to actually be correct; blindly believing and bandwagoning any ideas and social/emotional/political subjects without even at least questioning what it is that you are nodding your head to; refusing to do your part and put in the actual time and effort to do your own research into things that you dont actually truly understand; not admitting to your own ignorances; not having conversations with yourself and others in efforts to think learn and grow; not having the capacity to identify fault in yourself or actively recognising erroneous commentary elsewhere; being an utter bystander and doing nothing in the face of total ideological evil; being hypocritically super "identity-phobic" by using your own identity as some kind of justification and validating mouthpiece to push others beneath you to feed your insecure ego; being an unapologetic hypocrite at all; unchallenging the problematic nature of the environment around you or in even the people you know or talk to and encounter whether irl or online; committing to silence and performative activism for things that you should/need to care about; being lazy with caring; perverting social spaces in favour of your own unconditional freedom to harbour and flourish with your criminally bad takes and mentalities and ideologies where others around you will only be of the species to agree with you; thinking of Star Trek as just "oh next episode of entertainment oo ahh shiny shiny funny funny sad sad oo woke haha" instead of understanding that these things raised in the show are based in reality and are things to actually think about and reflect on regarding others AND YOURSELF and are not just solely thought-pieces for entertainment value; detaching the relevance of what you should've understood and learned from "woke" media to the real world/vicinity around you offline or online as two NOT-mutually-exclusive things...

same here i dont like to label myself as an xyz fan. if i like smth i like smth if i dont then i dont or can ignore it. i dont get why we need to label ourselves as stans and whatever else words to say we like or dont like smth. also i dont actively need nor want to be apart of fan bases cause thats where the crazies or delulus are. even the haters are childish and immature its like you havr to pick a side and absolutely stick to it you cant simply like nor dislike an aspect its like the internet will look down on u for not being one side or the other

i dont geg what happened to simply liking music sometimes it feels like you have to do so much just to either idfk get the attention of the members or you have to constantly be doing smth relating to the fan base or always be on guard so you dont offend anyone. honestly i have distanced myself from that aspect and i find sometimes the groups are more enjoyable when its not smth you personally pander for if that makes sense? like maybe its just my age or the fact that im getting much older or but if i saw an idol in public i wouldnt need to chase them yaknow?

maybe if i was at a younger age id want to be buying as much merch as i can but its so expensive to support these groups to go to their concerts honestly takes ages to save up for if u arent rich. it just kinda sucks that i didnt have kpop when i was younger, wouldve loved to collect photocards but i kinda just watch the groups from afar on a screen these days

also i just dont care these days like the shit that people fret about online when it comes to idols doesnt affect me in anyway sure at one point we have all been a lil delulu about celebs or idols but if it dont happen it dont happen. by the time the newer generations get married or whatever else i will be dead anyway cause idols cant just date fans or the chances of actually dating them is slim to none for most of their fans. plus its still going to take years before idols can freely date without backlash

People are too invested for nothing to the point of just hating other groups/fans and even their own group just because of different opinions about a group/an artist. Their only motivation is to either hate or actually give up their own life for their idol(s) which is crazy as it can intensify the parasocial relationship.

The issue like « let’s stream them to top1 » as if that was the ultimate goal. Sure showing support is needed and appreciated and even valued but arguing with your own group because not everyone streamed or whatever is a big red flag! Can’t I just enjoy a damn music once in a while without having to listen to it until it reaches 10B views??? Even if it means being a « lazy fan » why couldn’t I just enjoy their art at my own rythm?? What will I win? Won’t the artist(s) already be happy to simply know that I enjoy their art?

my first bit of advice to directing was to ,yknow, decide what kind of a director you want to be. my second piece of advice is this .

ALWAYS GIVE YOUR TEAM THE BENIFIT OF THE DOUBT THEY GIVE A SHIT/CARE/ARE TRYING THEIR BEST/WHAT HAVE YOU

if not give a shit about the creative, at least giving a shit enough to come and earn a paycheck which is something that is fine for people to do. Not everyone has room to put their heart and soul into a project - even if you do , and thtas something you have to make your peace with because if you dont and you look into peoples intent. hooboy thats is a slippery slope to making all the worst choices.

directors that start to think their team is lazy and dont care will make it a self fulfilling prophecy because nothing is going to make a team lose trust in you as quick as feeling like nothing they do matters. In animation , caring too MUCH is the default of most people - so this sort of rhetoric will either get them to push so hard they burn out because they think they must be lazy, or stop caring altogether. I mean the same can be said for any leadership or mentorship position. now that doesn't mean you cant be honest if you think someone isint working in a way thats effective or if they seem to be struggling, or if maybe they arnt hitting expectations ,and it doesn't mean you cant challenge your team either. But it really does come down to where you solve your problems and make your choices.

I assume that my team gives a shit . Always. that way when problems come up i know the solution is something other then ' well people need to try harder '. Which is something that is kind of redonkly common in the industry (and in schools) just in general. Artists are not always great teachers, and sometimes something that is easy for one may not be for several others and its not as obvious as you'd think. because I never assume the problem is someone not caring , I have a much faster time finding the actual issues - because heres the thing. i've never encountered a problem on a pipeline that existed because people didnt care enough. zero. nope. and i dont believe they exist. and if your team truly doesn't care - then they must have a good reason for it. you're the leader so its your job to figure it out and fix it.

WELCOME TO THE ANNUAL “DO YOU KNOW YOUR PARTNER BETTER THAN YOUR BROTHER” QUIZ! WHERE *YOU* THE PLAYER, COMPETE AGAINST YOUR BROTHERS TO SEE WHO KNOWS YOUR PARTNER BETTER! ARE YOU READY???

Karamatsu, floating in the sea with the help of a surfboard says “what do you mean partner” hes swaying confusedly with the sweet, sweet rhythm of the waves.

“LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT OUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER OF THE DAY, HOW ARE YOU TODAY DARI-CHAN?”.

Darling doggy paddles near the brothers and then floats in a lazy circle with the help of their donut float “Hm? Oh, I'm happy you guys invited me to the beach today! it's so fun hanging out with everyone, thanks for asking totty!”.

“Let's hang out later, yeah?” Todomatsu says in a normal voice while holding the toy microphone in his hands, “AND NOW LET'S LOOK AT THE BROTHER COMPETING TODAY! OSOMATSU NII-SAN INTRODUCE YOURSELF”.

Osomatsu comes up from the water gasping for air “BWAH! augh, Todomatsu you couldn't have introduced me first, could you? aah well, im Osomatsu! oldest of the bunch and besties with Karamatsu's boyfriend, pleased to be heeereee”.

“Eh” says karamatsu.

“Waa! Osochan that's so cool could you have stayed longer down there?” darling says.

“I definitely could! Do you wanna see?” says Osomatsu.

“SHUT UP, WE WILL START THE GAME! FIRST QUESTION PLEASE!”

Ichimatsu and Choromatsu then come up from the water holding up an erasable board, they hold it up and in it it's written "FOOD”.

“There! Now the first question in the quiz ‘DO YOU KNOW YOUR PARTNER BETTER THAN YOUR BROTHER’ is: what's their favorite food?”.

Jyushimatsu comes in splashing water everywhere while carrying a hourglass on his head that's counting down.

“You have one minute to respond!”

“Heh, My darling doesn't like eating because they have stomach issues so they don't have the luxury of having a favorite food!” karamatsu says confidently.

“That 's true!” darling says while splashing water.

“Osomatsu nii-san what's your answer?”.

“Popcorn” he says smugly.

“That's truer!” darling says excitedly

“That's a point for osomatsu nii-san! and minus one for Karamatsu nii-san”.

“Huh, wa-waawa-wait a second await a secooooonnnd!!”

A loud buzzer sounds and karamatsu gets swallowed by the water. A few seconds later he resurfaces covered in piranha bites .

“Oi what the hell is your problem!” karamatsu screams

“Dont complain to the game master” todomatsu says.

“Like hell i will !! ” Karamatsu complains.

“Get him again”.

“Wait no” and he goes under once again.

“Bitey, bitey!” Jyushimatsu says next to darling while karamatsu gets rid of one fish that was stuck to his ear.

“Next question! Jyushimatsu it's your turn!” .

“Hai hai!, darling can you hold this for me” he says while handing over to darling the hourglass “do your best~” darling says now holding the thing on their arms.

“Im Jyushimatsu! i'm the fifth! darling and i play in the park sometimes!”.

“Wait, am I competing against all of yo-” Karamatsu starts.

”NEXT QUESTION! IS!: what is their favorite pastime?” Todomatsu continues with the game show host routine.

“Darling likes to draw!” karamatsu says first and a buzzer-like sound plays after.

“Darling likes to stare at the ceiling while laying on the floor for hours!” A bell chime sounds indicating that jyuushimatsu gets it right.

“wait- '' karamatsu starts being circled by sharks and then goes under the water causing a big splash while Jyushimatsu celebrates “yay yay! i got it right! did you see darling?” “i saw!” darling and Jyushimatsu start high fiving and yaaay-ing at each other. When karamatsu comes back up he's bleeding in places and holding on to the surfboard tightly “oi darling! you're an artist you LOVE to draw dont you?”.

Darling stops high fiving Jyushimatsu and looks at karamatsu. “Aah, well it's always nice to take breaks and clear your mind you know…” Jyushimatsu nods and Ichimatsu whispers to choromatsu “...doesn't that just mean he likes to laze around more?”.

“MAY THE NEXT BROTHER PLEASE SWIM BACK HERE” Todomatsu reminds everyone,

“Ah its your turn Ichimatsu” Choromatsu says to Ichimatsu. “Im going im going“

“i'll help you with the board Choromatsu” Osomatsu says.

“Introduce yourself please~”

“What a pain, we all already know each other here, im Ichimatsu, fourth brother…” he looks directly at where darling is floating lazily in circles “blink twice if you need help” he say.

“What” says Darling.

Todomatsu intervenes before things derail again “AND THE NEXT QUESTION IS: HOPES AND DREAMS!: what are their dreams for the future?”.

Everyone oos and aawws and karamatsu sweats nervously,

“Karamatsu nii-san your answer?”

“Heh” Karamatsu starts “My darling enjoys the idea that in the future she could inspire others with her art!” He says this in a very shining way. There are sparkles in his eyes. It's kinda annoying.

“Aa what the hell that's so cute…” Osomatsus says while you can hear his ribs breaking and with blood dripping down his mouth. Darling puts their hands on their face to cover a barely there blush.

Ichimatsu raises his hand to answer and breaks the mood a bit “Actually darling wants to be a cat that lives with a pretty older woman who will take care of him and feed him 3 times a day”.

Everyone looks back at Darling who's now fully covering their face and making embarrassed sounds.

“Uh, that's minus one point for Karamatsu nii-san…”

A buzzer sounds but nothing happens, karamatsu just drowns himself for a bit and then resurfaces, on the way back to his brothers Ichimatsu high fives darling.

“Well, okay, the next one is an easy one for you Karamatsu nii-san, Choromatsu nii-san could you come up front?”.

“Hey who says I'm the one who will get it wrong here?!” Choromatsu says while swimming closer. “I know darling as much as any of our brothers”

“Sure sure, ok so the theme for the question is!” Osomatsu and Ichimatsu hold up the board and show off the word MUSIC written there with a doodle of a cat that Osomatsu added from when he was playing with it earlier “what's their favorite kind of music to listen to? Karamatsu nii- san whats your answer”.

“Music that gets my dick hard” he says in a deadpan voice.

“EH? what kind of answer is that?” Choromatsu says, “That's an awful answer, Darling likes pop stuff like the kind of music that nyaa-chan sings!” and while thinking of Hashimoto Nyaa Choromatsu starts fangirling on the spot and todomatsus face sours, the buzzer sounds and mid fangirl sesh Choromatsu goes under the water.

“And that's one point for karamatsu nii- san” karamatsu does a pose and his sunglasses shine in the sun “and minus one point for us brothers, oi ya hear that chorofappynsky the first? you're lowering our score!” “yeah!” “boooooo” “lets kill him”.

“Darling, did you hear that! i got a point!” karamatsu waves towards Darling who has floated a bit away from the movement of the waves that the brothers are making “I saw! you can win this i believe in you!!” They are actually so cute together it makes me sick to write.

When choromatsu comes back up for air he's all like “HEY don't get excited for a single point!! and you!” he says pointing at Darling ”what kinda answer is ‘music that gets my dick hard’ that doesn't make any sense!!” Darling looks confused for a bit and then they explain.

“Well isn't Hashimoto Nyaas music your favorite? and it gets your dick hard so then *i* also have music that gets me hard”

Karamatsu swims towards Darling and claps them in the back making Darling lose grip of the hourglass they were holding and sink into the water”aw man” they say “yeah! everyone has music that calls to our souls!” Karamatsu says “and our dicks” adds Darling.

“You guys SO deserve each other” says Choromatsu in a way that doesn't make it sound like a compliment

RIght as choromatsu turns to go away, Darling whispers to karamatsu “But really we all know no one goes to a Nyaa concert for the music…”.

“HEY-”

“Ok everyone shut up it's my turn, Ichimatsu nii-san can you take over for the last question? thank you~” Todomatsu then swims into position while everyone gets rearranged.

“uh ok so the next theme for the question is…” Osomatsu and Jyushimatsu now hold up the board and it now says GRADES “...why would he even know that, what, anyway the next question is: how many classes did they fail back in highschool? who even came up with these questions…”

“Kyaa that's so embarrassing! I don't even remember any of what happened back then!”

“Right then, shittymatsu what's your answer”.

“Uhh, none!” buzzer sound “One!” buzzer sound “THREE??” buzzer sound wait wait wait hang on how am i supposed to know this'' and down the water he goes.

“Todomatsu, what's your answer”.

“Hang on ummm” he types in something on his phone and then answers ”One every semester, so six total”.

“i'm not gonna ask how you got that one correct”

“Tehee!”

Darling covers their face in shame “ aaa that's so embarrassing….!!”

The brothers minus Karamatsu celebrate the win on the game and then a big wave comes on and drowns everyonewe
