So, if I understand it correctly, one drop of black blood makes you black. So I guess we are all black if the out of Africa theory is correct. I guess this also means that Elizabeth Warren really is Native American, but not based on tribal laws just DNA.
My DNA tests says I have Neanderthal heritage, so can I start a NLM (Neanderthal Lives Matter) movement? I need a T-shirt! Biden slammed Neanderthal thinking recently, but he has no clue that Neanderthals are thought by some scientists to be as smart or smarter than “homo sapiens” (all of us). Or maybe a Denisovan Lives Matter for those with that DNA heritage?
BTW I suspect we all have the genes to be black, but our epigenetics keep it turned off for some where in their family’s past it was more beneficial to be paler to get Vitamin D from sunshine.
So what exactly makes someone black for the BLM movement. Skin color, facial structure, hair texture or just that the individual identifies as black.

No such thing as “cancel culture”
Sooo . . . with all the talk about “cancel culture” . . . if the Montgomery, Alabama bus boycott was happening right now, would the media and the racists be calling it “cancel culture”?
The answer is yes, yes they would. “Cancel culture” is the latest attempt to rebrand a powerful tool of the civil rights movement into something ugly.
Let’s look at what is really happening here, break it down to its simplest components:
1. One or more people do not agree with Person A’s expressed positions and beliefs and conduct.
2. One ore more people choose to show their displeasure by voting with their wallets and expressing their opinions (boycotting, avoiding, striking, voicing their displeasure, organizing, protesting, etc.).
3. Sometimes . . . JUST sometimes . . . enough people show their displeasure that the corporation making money off of Person A do something. They exercise contractual rights and/or the “right to work: employment laws ( *cough* right to fire laws *cough*) conservatives have spent decades putting into place to “protect” employees “right to work” (protect employers more like) and take action against Person A. The corporation does this not because they necessarily disagree with Person A, but because it hurts their brand or bottom line to maintain any association with Person A.
4. Sometimes . . . JUST sometimes . . . enough people show their displeasure that it becomes personally inconvenient for the governmental authority to support and protect Person A’s expressed positions and beliefs and conduct as “lawful” and the law changes. The government authority does this not because they necessarily disagree with Person A, but because it hurts their own ability to retain power.
5. Sometimes . . . JUST sometimes a movement starts and goes from a “radical fringe” into the main consciousness. (Abolition, Civil Rights movement, MeToo, BLM, and LGBTQ+ rights as just a few examples). Sometimes there is finally criminal or civil justice and large scale change. Sometimes there is mere tokenism.
6. Sometimes NOTHING happens to Person A other than damage to their precious “reputation.” Boo Hoo. Poor Person A. Cry me a river. (See Hannah Gadsby’s Nannette about why I don’t give a flying fuck about Person A’s “reputation.”)
So there is no such thing as “cancel culture.” There isn’t even such a thing as “consequence culture,” since so often there are no consequences, no change, just more of the same. So if I hear one more news soundbite about “cancel culture” I will destroy my TV. Just like there is no such thing as “sanctuary cities” there is NO. SUCH. THING. AS. CANCEL. CULTURE. This is just the newest media/corporate/government label being used to “rebrand” the most effective tool of the civil rights movement as something to be despised.
Don’t allow this to happen. Call it what it is. It is not “cancel culture.” It is CHOICE.
I, as a privileged consumer in a capitalistic society where the profit motive has run amok, have a choice (not all consumers are privileged to have a choice btw). I can CHOOSE. If I don’t like the actor/writer/director or producer/parent company or (assuming they haven’t monopolized the entire market) conglomerate, I can choose to NOT buy, NOT to watch, NOT to purchase weird chicken pickle sandwich, NOT to eat their pasta, NOT ride the bus, to vote for the other person, to speak out, to organize, AND to inform others of my personal displeasure with Person A’s expressed positions, beliefs, and/or conduct loudly.
The government is terrified of my power to choose. (This is why they keep trying to stop me from voting). Corporations are terrified of my power to choose. (This is why they keep marketing things at me until my eyes bleed, scaring me into buying their chosen curated products or else be unloved, ugly, and miserable for the rest of my life). They don’t want us to think and to be informed and to CHOOSE. They want us to obey.
I refuse to give up my right to choose. I cannot force anyone else to think or feel as I do but I can persuade and pressure the government or the big corporations to adopt my beliefs. Perhaps the adoption is begrudging and self centered at first but I don’t care.
I can non violently PROTEST the status quo that protects or excuse Person A’s beliefs and conduct and I can tell the world how much Person A disgusts me.
That’s my right. That’s my choice.
I’m not giving up my power and you can’t shame me for using it.

Debunking some things about Hayley Atwell
I decided to write this post to address some rumors about Hayley Atwell. I’ve seen some posts years ago, about how (supposedly) problematic Hayley is, and as a 17 year old in that moment, I believed everything I read on the Internet. I'm not saying that everything you see on social media it's a lie, but you have to stop, think about it and do your own research (if you really care about it), like I did.
The rumors I’ve read on Twitter (and here), basically said that Hayley hates Emily VanCamp, that Hayley and Chris Evans mistreated Emily, that Hayley is homophobic, that she said she should play Sharon wearing a wig, and that she also hates on Chloe Bennet. Like I said, I did my research to show you some stuff as regards these rumors/assumptions.
1. Hayley said she should play Sharon Carter on the MCU.
Literally how is that a bad thing? She just simply said what she thought back then (this interview is from 2011, 9 years ago). Besides, it's the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ANYTHING can happen. I think that I don't need to remind you that actors and actresses can play different characters in a same franchise, Gemma Chan played Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel and will play Sersi in Eternals, Enver Gjokaj played Daniel Sousa in Agent Carter and another minor (veeery minor) role in The Avengers as a policeman, and all those things take place in the same universe. So Hayley's thoughts back then are not as crazy as you think they are. And it's not a bad thing if she wanted that to happen.
Update (10/8/21):
About Hayley saying she should play Sharon: as I said before, this shouldn't be even considered as something bad. Besides, Emily wasn't involved with the MCU then nor was she in talks of getting casted. Why am I pointing this out? Because so many people took that as Hayley saying she can do a better job as Sharon than EVC. AND THAT'S NOT TRUE.
2. Hayley saying she would ground Sharon for kissing Steve:
(Source, minute 9:25 - 10:15) She's joking guys. You might not like or share her british humor, which is very dry, satirical, sarcastic, but what can we do about it? Stop making such a great deal about it.
Besides, there are more things that you're missing. Or, actually, things that the people who made up these rumors chose to omit. I don't know if you guys were in the Marvel fandom back in 2016 (year in which this panel took place), especially during may/june. After "Civil War" premiered, Marvel released a comic in which we discover that Steve Rogers has always been working for Hydra. So, when a fan asked Hayley if she disapproves of Sharon and Steve, she says that Peggy would be so protective over Sharon, that she wouldn't let her get close to Steve, (because of all the Hydra stuff) HERE’S THE SOURCE, minute 12:20.
3. Hayley and Chris mistreated Emily VanCamp.
Who told you that? Emily VanCamp herself?
If you show me an actual proof that this happened, I'll believe you. But since there's no evidence of that...
Update (10/8/21):
About Hayley "hating" Emily: this was said a lot back in 2016 when Hayley said she didn't approve of Staron. That's literally her opinion, if she doesn't ship them that fine! She's entitled to her opinion, like everyone does.
They’re not best friends, they get along. They made some videos together (back when there was a Dubmash war between the AOS and Agent Carter casts). Here's one.
Plus, Emily talking about Hayley when asked about not sharing the screen with her (minute 1:42).
I recently found this video in which a fan asked her about the jokes/comments she made about Sharon that got out of control on social media. She said she didn't know about that (by that time she deleted her twitter account, where both Sharon/Emily got so much hate) minute 24:05 onwards. She said she was joking of course, and recognized they were wrong!
Many people blame her because of all the hate Sharon and Emily got. I admit it: I didn’t like Sharon that much. But even with all those jokes Hayley made, I never thought about bullying neither Sharon nor Emily. The problem here are the toxic fans who took everything she said seriously and saw it as a chance to bully both Sharon and EVC. And if you’re one of those fans, you’re disgusting.
4. Hayley is homophobic.
Oh yes, that's why she wanted Peggy to date Angie in Agent Carter (Source, minute 31:50). And also, how she approves of stucky.
Update (10/8/21):
Besides supporting the LGBT community on social media, she's once again showing support for Cartinelli and Peggy Carter being bisexual (a win for me btw)
May I add that Hayley supports the BLM movement not only on social media, (which many people including myself see it as performative activism in sooo many celebrities), but she actually went to protests in London last year, and kept posting about it + she allowed black activists and artists to post on her Instagram.

Here’s the video, pay attention to Hayley’s answer. Literally, where does she say that? Stop taking things out of context, and stop making things up.
I understand if you don't like her jokes or humor, or even if you think that they are odd. But, honestly, what can we do about that? That how she is. She has bad things and good things, flaws and virtues. She might have commited mistakes, like EVERYONE ELSE HAS, because she's a HUMAN BEING. People change. Just like her, I'm not the same person I was a year ago. Even weeks ago.
I'm not saying that you should love Hayley or Peggy from now on, all I'm trying to say is that instead of blindly believing everything you read on internet, try to take some of your time to search for evidence.
Sorry if I seem to be angry, it's just that I'm tired of seeing so much hate on Hayley. It's not something I see just now, it's something I've been seeing since 2016.

Warning: I’m upset and going to curse a lot in this. I’m also going to talk about the US government and the virus, so please scroll past my rant if that upsets you(I’m on mobile and can’t put it under a read more)
This whole thing going on with the US looking to ban TikTok is fucking ridiculous. I hand t looked into it much but with so many people talking about it, I went to read some articles and I’m fucking pissed. It was one thing when they were talking about security concerns and it was just “coincidentally” after TikTok took the blame for fucking up Trump’s rally, but more than one of the articles I read quoted/paraphrased Trump saying he wanted to ban TikTok in order to “punish China over the coronavirus.”
Let’s go over some reasons that’s problematic, damaging, and fucking stupid.
1) The virus first moved from animals to humans in China, but that was just a thing that happened, not a thing caused by the Chinese government or a thing they could have prevented
2) China has less cases than the US because they actually dealt with the virus
3) The rest of the world is doing better than the US because most of them actually did something when they realized there was an issue instead of insisting that scientists were wrong and we should stop testing to lower numbers, so whose fault is the situation in the US again?
4) The fucking open racism from this goddam president never fails to astound me. The number of Chinese-owned businesses that got hit harder than other businesses during this pandemic, the number of people who avoid people who look Asian, are insane. The BLM movement needs our support because the US is wildly prejudiced against black people and while racism against black people is rampant, and the president has been racist and xenophobic since before he was elected, he’s now openly encouraging people to distrust and avoid anyone who looks Asian.
5) The president wanting to “punish China” is inane and childish and only further encourages the domestic prejudice against anyone who doesn’t look white and European.
6) This is diverting attention from actual issues like dealing with the goddamn virus instead of placing blame and all the laws the president is pushing like his law to repeal trans people’s healthcare. (Btw this passed and it does not just mean your tax dollars won’t pay for their transition surgery if you’re cis, it means that if they were in a medical emergency, say they need cancer treatment, the hospital could legally deny them care. They could be denied a checkup at a doctor’s office and it would be legal)
TLDR: banning TikTok would be racist(because of the reasons. If it were actually a security concern that would be different) and performative and another example of why Donald Trump is grossly incompetent and unqualified to hold any political office.

okay so thoughts....I generally dont like the party system i think its ridiculous the system was not designed for it, and its now more about loyalty then the actual candidates. I also am really hesitant to put another strait white male in the oval office, especially one thats from “the lucky few” I.E. the smallest voting generation in the country and also the one that already holds the most positions. That being said, at this point its really anyone but trump and I think bidens got the experience to turn things around.
I AM IN SCHOOL I CANNOT VOTE. I am relying on all my older friends, followers, neighbors, and community members. To make an educated decision that wont further degrade the once hopeful future my generation awaits. Please if you can vote VOTE the kids are relying on you!

Hi it’s the person “making assumptions”. Not making assumptions, but when I see someone being praised for using a condescending tone in relation to something that I, as a black woman, care deeply about I take issue. Didn’t say people were right to send hate, but his response was poor and misjudged. Just making my judgment off the behaviour I see as we all do. I do expect better from a white guy with power who demeans the legitimate concerns of those who were asking for more politely. Be kinder.
Hi anon, while I appreciate an important discourse, I am surprised that you’ve come to my blog when I see that the same message you seem to have copied and pasted into multiple asks in the skam tag and have gotten support for your claims. just so there’s no confusion, I’ve copied you entire message to Chris below. I’m also kind of riled up today so this will probably be stupidly long.
_Not true, when people with approx 400 followers post links on social media for protests it usually generates 3 more signatures. Imagine if someone like Maxence, with 500k followers, posted a link to a petition. His silence is privilege, his silence is choosing the side of the oppressor. He stands for no one but the white man if he can’t do the bare minimum. Coming from a black girl who works in charity, and knows first hand the impact that social media can have on protesting. Don’t make excuses.
(2) I’m just real tired of white people excusing themselves with “I was learning” (axel) when the black community don’t have a CHOICE. This is our reality, and you’re either with us or against us. Silence means you’ve chosen the side of the oppressor, to paraphrase Desmond Tutu. Not aiming this just at you, but all Skam fans defending their behaviour. It is bad. Don’t excuse white men for being lazy and ignorant.
(3) Maxence wants to scold people for not going to a protest? His tone is condescending, and shows more of his privilege and ignorance. Oftentimes it’s unsafe for PoC and queer people to go to protests. His safety is guaranteed, he’s a straight white man. The whole point of BLM is to fight for the safety of the black community globally, including France which is racist as fuck (Burka ban?!), so for a white guy to not realise why some people don’t go to protests is just ignorance. Educate him.
(4) it’s not shifting responsibility btw. People are allowed, especially minorities, to ask for white people to do their bit. People with large influence should do better, especially if their career is made on a show that supposedly address social problems through TV (mental health, islamophobia, homophobia etc.) you really can’t sit there and scold people for asking for better. Sometimes the language and approach is poor, but the point is often correct. Please think before you defend them.

the systemic and historical roots of racism around the world are awful. no one denies that, including in france. canada in particular is no exception. I agree that the pasty men of the world have more work to do. but to deny them the time and opportunity to educate themselves seems counterproductive. I’m not sure what sort of timeline you have that everyone must meet, but it takes a long time to learn new things, and longer to unlearn everything you thought you understood about an issue or yourself. I literally have cerebral palsy and I knew so little about disability studies and activism prior to taking a class on it. am I a bad cripple? I didn’t start coming out as bi till last year and don’t do much activism there yet either. am I lazy and ignorant?
